you know, never in a million years would i say bdubs specializes in haunting builds

but this?

this build genuinely shakes me a bit

something about it gives off such a desperation, a cry for life, it actually freaks me out and sets off my fight or flight

and the context of this being a post-apocalyptic city, riddled with poverty in the southeast corner, overshadowed by the rich of the northwest? fuck, man, is that some good storytelling. something something the rich laughing and clinking their drinks in their safe bunker as the poor live in squalor and danger and cry out for help- to save their souls- directly to their faces. and are met with silence.

it tells the story of murder. a death due to negligence. of people crushed under a boot because they were seen as less than human. they were ignored, and left to rot.

and just seeing the two simple words, "free us". it's such a simple request. it almost makes you grieve

Species, fun Details and height sorted version under the cut !!

- Grian

A parrot avian in some universes, a shapeshifted watcher in others, it’s a 50/50 which one I decided to go with

Avians in my mind take on the wing patterns of a bird they connect with, which usually happens at around 18-23. Instead of facial hair they grow feathers around their cheeks and in their hair.

His earring is a present from mumbo ^^

The gold detailing on his wings have the watcher symbol and suns on it, and his shoes have suns too! (why suns you may ask? “Grian” is the Irish word for sun, and according to my myth/history nerd friend there was an Irish sun goddess named Grian)

He dyes his hair because it looks cool, you can see a bit of his natural roots

His ears and canine teeth are rounded! In contrast to half-vexes who’s features are sharper

His design is probably the one that keeps to the original skin the least, but it also happens to be one of my favourites to draw so

I don’t have much to say here, he’s just kinda silly? I suppose there’s the fact that I decided that convex gets a diamond as their shape, so he’s got some of that detailing

He was originally supposed to have glasses however I am terrible at remembering glasses even though I wear them so they just kinda vanished

His hair is probably one of the most fun to colour too:D

She’s got a whole bunch of little leaves everywhere:DD and some cute gold detailing too, otherwise a pretty simple design with not much to say on it

The yellow In his hair also matches with my skizz, who has blue in his hair

Either a human or an avian, it’s another 50/50 and depends on what I went for with Grian as well if I have him included

If I go the avian route, her wings are small and usually kept under her jacket.

The moon detailing changes with the moon phase! Her hair also gets more floaty depending on how full the moon is

The knot on her shirt is in the shape of a moth

A soot fairy, they’re known for working with and manipulating fire and creating machinery.

He’s got heels and he’s absolutely slaying. That’s really it I can’t pick my favourite detail it’s all fantastic. Look at it

I looked at fire/firemen vests for his jacket? That’s a fun fact

A creeper/goat hybrid

There’s like.. so many butterfly motifs on this man it’s fantastic. I also love the horizontal pupil

He looks like a mix between a tired dad and a mad scientist, which was initially not what I was going for but I’m keeping it

I think what makes me feral about the ending is that I think martyn was going for the ' the watchers want a poetic final battle so I'm not going to give it to them' which is true in a 'we the audience are the watchers' but in the whole fanon 'watchers are the higher powers that control the games' he technically did exactly what they wanted him to do in last life but in lim life this time, in last life the watchers wanted him to kill ren then Scott and claim the victory but he failed to betray ren last minute getting himself killed, in lim life same situation except this time he succeeded in killing his ally then finishing the other person left taking the win.

Idk I just really like the 'the watchers finally got to him angle'

It’s sort of a crossover with Hermitcraft, but I think that the purple lines on Impulse’s Cyberpunk skin are actually his fragments he accumulated throughout the various seasons of The Life Series (See Martyn’s Eyes and Ears AU for context) and we can only now see them because Impulse was the first person to die in Demise, a Life Series like game

Sharing some fanfic musings because I had an epiphany.

I've been working on a 'fic with a plot about Mumbo preparing to eat Grian's soul in line with Hermitcraft Season 8 canon (One and a Half Birds). Obviously the story centers around Mumbo and Grian, but there's something about Impulse that just cracks me up.

This is a semi-realistic Minecraft universe where the villagers are more sentient and treated with more respect. Impulse spends the 'fic improving the farm and babysitting villager kids. It makes me laugh.

Obviously I'd never share the 'fic with him, but I hope on some level, Impulse would be amused to know there's a story that portrays his Minecraft persona as a guy who could've chosen to do anything in the fantasy world, and he opted to mend a villager's gloves and fix a fence. He is the happiest character in the story. He is living his best life.

I have been collating ideas for where all the Lifers have their fragments in the Eyes and Ears AU for a while. When there’s 60 something fragments to mention across all the Lifers it’s taking a while. I’m working my way through the seasons from Winner to looser and am currently on Last Life Cleo.

But anyway, I saw Impulse’s new Hermitcraft Skin with some art you can see here (https://www.tumblr.com/maxx-doodles/742230355130597376/i-hope-everyone-likes-impulses-new-cyberpunk)

And the purple lines on his forearms and forehead made me think of the Fragments from Martyn’s Eyes and Ears AU. And it made me think, since we don’t know for sure where Impulse’s fragments are. Perhaps the trauma of being the first to die in Demise brought up the memories of the Life Series and allowed us to see his fragments on him. Perhaps those purple lines on him are actually his fragments.

That’s just my little headcanon anyway. Wondered if anyone else thought similarly.

Vampire Scar

Vampire Hunter Cub

Vampire Hunter Grian (part of a specific hunting group, "Watchers")

Vampire Scar happily living with Cub, teaching him and letting Cub examine things that are interesting about vampire biology! Not mentioning the mythology some vampires know- though the lore of vampire kind differed from coven to coven, but Scars knowledge? Interesting in how much... cannibalism was involved. Not in just blood drinking but full on cannibalism.

It maybe- maybe! got Cub curious about how vampires blood tasted. Maybe he'd get a small vial. Maybe he'd try it. Maybe Scar would be so delighted that he spun Cub around- nooo it was definitely minorly (majorly) getting vampire married. Maybe even a few dances under the moonlight, the loving caretaking of a coffin during daylight during a honeymoon that totally doesn't happen if you were a hunter.

Until Grian met Scar. Meet cute by the beach, helping the poor tourist around, heading to the inn/hostel/hotel/motel (I have no set time for this so m a n y places to be listed) and walking Grian to the door like a gentlemen. Cub waits for Scar to come back from his walk. And waits. And waits. And waits.

And can't wait anymore, suited in his hunter gear just in case, hoping beyond hope that Scar was okay- and he finds nothing. Anywhere. No matter where he searches, he can't get a trace of Scar! It drives Cub insane, slow but *sure*, a neat house being slowly unkempt and gathering dust- until he stumbles upon a power that could help him find Scar. Is it the Vex? Sculk? .....The buried magic of Cubs family? That he's truly from a line of powerful Pharaohs? Who knows! Only thing for certain is that everyone should hope nothing happened to Scar!

oooooh fun AU idea! I can definitely (if you'd allow that) combine this with the supernatural village AU I've been hoping I can find a story for.

I've never done much with vampires or cannibalism (personally a little uncomfortable about cannibalism stuff, but growing more alright with it). The idea of Cub learning about vampires through Scar is cool, and protecting him from vampire hunters at the same time.

I had another thought though: what if Scar's pretending he's a vampire because they're more socially acceptable than Vexlings like himself. And maybe Cub figures this out, because all of Scar's vampire information is slightly wrong. Not much, because he's studied a lot about magic, but definitely wrong or misguided.

But Scar getting lost, and Cub using all the magic he can control to get him back (or threaten people), especially if it's after Scar meets vampire-hunter Grian. (This fits so well with my idea of GIGS being phasmo-style ghost hunters in my AU, Cub would be terrified that they realised he was a Vexling, the possessed host of a Vex ghost and did something to him).

And this idea has added a thought of fully leaning into the supernatural with this AU and having all sorts of curses (Canary curse), and werewolf!Ren, ghost!Joe and zombie!Cleo.
