I completely agree with your point. I rarely play pvp and I wanted the helmet from iron banner, so I had to get into the crucible for the first time in years and I would get completely crumb stomped every other game or two. I played to the point where I basically reset my rank when I got the helmet it was demoralizing. Yea sure I'm not the best pvp player but going up against sweats is extremely frustrating when I'm either trying to get better or just playing for a specific armor piece or weapon, and I just get killed repeatedly by the same person or I'm just dead more often than I'm actually alive. If it's frustrating for a casual player, then the sweats should get frustrated too from going up against each other. Just saying
(sorry for slight rant hope your day is going well)
Yep and that's honestly an experience most of us can attest to. It's incredibly frustrating and pushes people away from the Crucible entirely. I genuinely have weeks where I just don't play it, even when I need the pinnacle. I would rather do anything else for the pinnacle. I don't care if I miss that one because I am just not enjoying my time being stuck in spawn.
And the best thing is that like. If you're a pro player, shouldn't you strive to compete with pros? To show off your skill? Because if you're in a lobby with 0.6 kds and you're getting a 37 killstreak, you're not impressive to me? When I want to watch pros, I prefer watching them go against other pros.
I know they say stuff like "but sometimes I want to relax in the Crucible!" Which... Fair! So do I! And I can't! There is no Crucible mode where I can go to relax and play casually because every mode is a sweat fest to me. The fact that you HAVE that option in the first place is already a massive difference. A pro can load into quick play and turn his brain off and stomp casuals. And now suddenly they can't do that anymore. And they think this is some sort of a slight instead of literally just being a FIX. You never should've been able to do that in the first place.
Like, sorry but that's not how pvp in a video game should function. Quick play should be "casual" to everyone, not just to you. Right now when I'm in quick play, I feel like I can compete and I have more interest to give it a go. There's still issues, but most regular players said that SBMM made their games much more even and better to experience. We still have to tryhard in a lot of them, but there's no overwhelming stomps where I'm just stuck and can't leave.
The only way stomps can happen to pros is if the matchmaking messes up and one pro gets 5 casuals on their team while the other team is 6 pros. Which is definitely an issue with matchmaking to talk about! But the idea of putting pros vs pros is not the problem by itself. Again, there's definitely issues because the pro population isn't that high so it has to be mixed with non-pros sometimes, but that's a much deeper issue and a completely different one. SBMM benefits the most people and any SBMM-specific problems (like the weird mix-ups where one team has too many pros while the other doesn't) can be dealt with on their own.
But even then it's like. Okay, sometimes a pro will experience a stomp. Okay. It's already like that to me. You can handle it. I've been told all my life to learn to handle it and to "git gud." So you know. Again, very little sympathy from me towards the gaming community.

Hi everyone and welcome to another California trip report! This was our last Monday in California, and we spent it in Universal Studios Hollywood. This is a much smaller Park in comparison to Universal Studios Orlando, but I really enjoyed it.
Because it was so far away from our hotel, we had the Anaheim Tour Company drive us there for opening, and pick us back up again of the evening. They also dropped us off at the Cheesecake factory rather than our hotel that they picked us up from, which was incredibly helpful. You’ll remember we were with the Anaheim Tour Company for our Hollywood Tour, Warner Bros Studios and the Walt Tour.
So because this day would be heavily Harry Potter themed, I dressed for the occasion! The cardigan was from EMP, who have an amazing Harry Potter range, the shirt, socks and leggings were from Primark, who are also killing it with their Harry Potter merchandise, and then I just wore plain black converse and Hollister shorts. I really wanted my Ravenclaw pride to come through.
Many people won’t know this, but in our research, we found out that Universal Studios Hollywood was built on a hill, so to get from the Lower Lot you have to take a series of escalators from the Upper Lot. There is no alternative, so if you’re afraid of escalators, I’m afraid you’ll miss out on one of the best rides in the Park. But they’re really safe, and you get a great view of Hollywood on your way down. I accidentally got a picture of the escalators when I was taking a picture of the Dinosaur animatronic.
Down in the Lower Lot, which is where I advise you go first as Upper Lot always fills up first, we all went on Jurassic Park: The Ride. They recently announced they’re changing this to a Jurassic World ride, so I’m really glad we all got to see it in its original incarnation, and we all really enjoyed it. The drop makes you feel like you’re about to die, but we all survived and nothing got lost or broken, so it’s all good. Then Dad and Joe went on Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, which in hindsight my Dad shouldn’t have gone on given his heart problems, but they had fun anyway. Then they went on Transformers: The Ride 3D which they both really enjoyed, and that’s all the attractions down in the Lower Lot, so we headed back up satisfied because all three attractions had been walk ons.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is situated in the Upper Lot, so a lot of people will head there first but that means that the Lower Lot is actually quietest first thing in the morning. There are two rides to do here, Flight of the Hippogriff and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. We always make sure to do Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at either Hollywood or Orlando because it’s an amazing ride, but I’ve never done Flight of the Hippogriff. Given all of the rides I’ve been on since, I regret not doing it, but I hope to go back to either Park one day and do the rides that I missed.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is so immersive and so well thought out. I love the Studio tour in London because you see the real props, but here they have built a land that feels like you’re in Hogsmeade. Obviously Orlando’s is better as it is bigger and has Diagon Alley also, but I love the Hollywood version as well. It’s important to say that a lot of the merchandise is the same as what you can get at the Studio Tour in London, so be mindful of this when bringing things home. If I can get it in the UK, I never buy it abroad because it’s a waste of suitcase space.
There’s also a Despicable Me area and a replica of Springfield from the Simpson’s which is amazing. We unfortunately didn’t ride the Simpsons Ride because it had a high wait time all day, but I can tell you from riding it in Orlando that it’s a simulator ride and it’s really cool. We did go on Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem which I always love, and there’s a cute water play area called Super Silly Fun Land for the kids.
Then we went on the Studio Tour. This takes an hour out of your day, but it’s very fun. They show you some of the effects that go into making the films, and it’s a little bit like the studio tours Hollywood Studios used to have at Disney Parks. So from Warner Brothers we had seen the sets of films and TV shows, and now we had seen the effects that go into them. It’s well worth taking the time to see!
The treats were amazing too. Visually, at least. The only one we bought was the Lard Lad donut, and me and Joe hated it. It looked delicious, and it was big enough to feed a whole family, but it tasted very artificial and neither of us enjoyed it.
I know I already used this picture as my feature, but can we all just appreciate how attractive my boyfriend is? I’m so in love. We had a blast at Universal Studios Hollywood, the weather was amazing, and they actually had little sprays of water dotted around the Park to keep you cool so we didn’t get too hot. It’s an amazing Park, with great attractions and views of Hollywood, and I highly recommend it.
