inter mundos's inspiration re: the whole teleporting thing came from a series called f.ringe - specifically the season 2 episode 'jacksonville' where it's revealed that while objects can be sent to the parallel universe that exists, something must come back from said parallel universe to make it 'even.'
this is specifically shown as really bad in this episode because an entire building from the parallel universe teleports into the main universe and they have to act very quickly to figure out which building from the main universe is going to suddenly disappear to make it an even exchange. this is done in a couple of ways, one of them being calculating the sizes of every building in the area to find one that's approximately the same size and then evacuating it.
which I hope sounds kind of familiar, because that's some of the same logic inter mundos runs on. it finds a building approximately its size, schloops it out of reality for a bit, and replaces it. when it's time to leave it sucks the original building back into its place and vanishes.
io specifically has applied a bit of logic to this, and troubleshot a lot of things over the years. inter mundos not only targets buildings its size, but also abandoned/empty ones. inter mundos is also a little freaky to be in once it settles because it attaches itself to whatever grid it needs. water, power, etc. which means things in the walls... move.
it can also settle itself in empty areas, too, but if io is working in a city for a bit then it's easiest to replace a building with their own.
Decided to start watching Hawaii Five-0 because. Well, I was bored. And what the actual fuck? Why are these two men full on flirting with each other right there on my screen? I'm honestly not sure it's possible to interpret whatever they have going on in just the first episode as anything but sexual tension. I'm sure this'll only get more homoerotic as the show goes on.
Ppl going "waaahh unpopular opinion but Alice is kind of annoying and obnoxious and I don't think I'd like be her friend irl" is so funny to me bc like.
God forbid a cast of characters be multifaceted and have actual flaws and unpleasant aspects other than "grr angsty hero" and "whoops i'm so clumsy". Sometimes character dynamics and arcs need to be prioritized above "who would i personally be niceys with irl"
2. bro just WAIT until you hear about season 1 jon lol
Do you ever think about how Cassandra was blessed with the gift of prophecy but was also cursed so nobody would ever believe her? That makes me think about a certain sniper...

Mina: Hey Kafka! Are you wearing your running bottoms. . . and your hoodie?
Reno: Kafka, are you going running?
Kafka: . . . *nods* *leaves*
Kikoru: Have fun!
*Kafka leaves the room*
Reno: Oh my god, what is wrong with Kafka right now?
Soshiro: Yeah, is he okay?
Kikoru: Kafka is going for a run. If anything, we should be asking what is right with him.
Mina: Kafka only goes running if he's upset and he's wearing his sad hoodie, and by the looks of it, it's been washed, which is bone chilling.
Kikoru: He's fine. Everything's okay.
Iharu: I JUST PASSED KAFKA ON THE STREET, RUNNING ON PURPOSE! OH MY GOD!!!!
Kikoru: . . . Maybe I was wrong.
Iharu: *halfway out a window, shouting* KAFKA! ARE YOU OKAY?
Iharu: I SEE YOU! AND I LOVE YOU!
Kikoru: In my defense, no one here emotes in a normal way
Soshiro: Yeah, that's fair.
(I'm not including ones he didn't hang out with alone onscreen such as s14 Michael, Hester or Benjamin. I am including Raphael because he spent time with him before his vessel change.)
No it's actually pretty insane that Buck specifically chose Tommy to be jealous about. Tommy who's implied to be queer. That's who he's jealous of for being close with Eddie. You want me to think this is heterosexual behaviour?? That this is something "besties" do?? That Buck out of nowhere becomes jealous of Eddie being close to someone just because he feels threatened by "friendship"???
thinking about dungeon meshi (as you do) and something that has been increasingly bothering me is how many people call Laios 'stupid' or similar. Often even as they are trying to pitch the manga to people.
And it's been bugging me because it's just. Absolutely not true? Laios is socially inept to a fault, that's like half the driving reason for the plot. But beside the obvious 'he knows a shit-ton about monsters and this is very helpful to their dungeon adventuring', he's also shown to be a good strategist, and pretty decent at magic once he actually puts his mind to it. He's a competent team leader who knows his teams strengths and weaknesses well despite being fairly bad at people.
He can be silly, but to be fair so can most of his team. And he does make poor/stupid decisions (like eating raw parasite) mainly because of his hyperfixation sometimes. But he's far from stupid.
Idk man I am obviously annoyed because I think calling the heavily autistic coded guy 'stupid' is a bad look, but it annoys me doubly because the story makes it pretty obvious that he is not. That's a pretty essential part of the story actually!
Okay now that I'm caught up (anime only) I can say with full understanding that I don't get the Toshiro(Shuro) hate. Like come on, the guy is flawed in his own (totally rooted in his culture and upbringing) way, just like literally every other character here. What.
