Chapter 9

In your heart.

Xavier was in Sheriff Galpin's car when the man decided to leave him alone, chained and locked in the middle of the road.

He tried to take the cuffs off without success and was about to give up when he heard something on the car's roof. Looking back, thing waved at him, and a huge smile grew on his face.

"Thing!"

They managed to get Xavier out of the car with no time to waste. He was about to leave when he heard leaves crunching behind him. Turning to face whoever it was, he was surprised to see you standing there. You had your hands on your knees and a hard time breathing.

Looking up at him, he saw the same amount of embarrassment and annoyance in your eyes.

"I think I'm too late." Your mother appeared by your side and gave him an excited wave. Your father, though, still didn't fully trust him.

Xavier watched you clean the leaves from your clothes and hair. You started to give him an apology for being late, but he silenced you with a harsh kiss.

His fingers dove into your hair and pulled you closer. His lips were soft and delicious against yours.

It wasn't enough. He needed you closer, your smell all over him, making him forget about all and everything. When he felt your body relax against him, he held you by the waist and deepened the kiss.

He could get lost in you forever, but your father's mumble took you both back to reality. Looking at you and seeing the dazzling smile you offered him made him the happiest he had ever felt.

"Xavier." Your hands resting on his chest were his certainty you would never leave again.

"I know. I know everything. My mother told me why you left."

"I didn't want to hurt you."

"I know." He kissed you again, trying to convey his faith in you. "Let's get out of here." He laced his fingers on yours, and before he walked away, he looked at your parents and nodded.

Feeling he wasn't walking away and had no intention of hurting you, your father nodded back. A silent acknowledgment of his trust in Xavier.

The four of you walked back to the university. His hand never leaving yours. You could see the edges of the forest in the distance when you heard your name whispered in the wind.

Squeezing Xavier's hand, he slowed his steps. You looked back and noticed your parents did the same. You weren't getting crazy. The whisper came again, and you saw the shadow of a presence amidst the trees.

"What's wrong?" He asked, placing a hand on your cheek. Worry all over his face.

"There's something I need to do." You leaned on his touch and placed a kiss on his palm. "Go ahead. I'll catch up with you."

"There is no way I will let you get out of my view."

You laughed. You understood his feelings because they reflected your own. You wanted to explain, but your mother was the one to reassure him.

"She is not alone, Xavier. We'll be by her side. This is something that needs to end here."

Xavier's eyes went wide. Realization sinking in. "It's him, isn't it? Where is he?" He stood in front of you, protecting you from the forest's darkness.

"I'll be fine. Trust me?" You turned him to face you.

There were mixed feelings in his eyes. Fear, worry, tiredness. "I do."

You kissed him and watched him walk out of the place into the light of the night sky.

As tranquility washed over you, you entered the dark, knowing full well only one of you would emerge victorious. And it would be you.

"Why don't we just get this over with? Someone is waiting for me, and I made him wait for too long already."

"As you wish." The man who appeared in front of you had scars across his face. Rather than make him seem scarier, they had the opposite effect. Something in his stance made you feel relaxed and unwilling to do anything. Was it his gift in action? You wondered.

With a threatening smile, he charged you. Your father materialized in front of him while your mother immobilized him from behind. He laughed at their attempt.

"I’ve been hunting you all these years. Do you really think this will be enough?”

“No. No, I don’t.”

He looked confused when your parents vanished. “What is it you’re scheming, little one?”

Instead of answering, you only smiled and tilted your head. You watched as he charged you again and reached for his pocket. Taking a dagger from it. He was about to stab you when a crowd of ghosts stopped him. They grabbed his limbs and held him in place.

Confidence dripped from your steps. You walked up to him and looked into his eyes. “Is that all?” You sighed, disappointed. “So anticlimactic.”

You couldn’t deny it. When he started laughing again, it made you uncomfortable. “This again?” His voice teasing you. The way he wet his lips had you taking a step back.

“No,” your mother said by your side, “this.” Taking the dagger from his hands, she stabbed him in the chest. Your father didn’t want to take any chances and twisted the blade until the man coughed blood.

You asked the ghosts to let him go, and he fell on the floor. His knees hit the ground, and he curved his spine. If someone came across the scene, they would think he was sleeping. You watched a second longer with a pinch of sadness in your eyes. No one needed to die.  

A low chuckle cut the silence of the night, and in a blink, he was all over you. A sharp pain emanated from your side, and a horrified scream pierced your ears. “Got you.” His smile wide and animalistic. “You see. It doesn’t matter what you do. You can’t kill me. I’m immortal.”

You saw your parents trying to take him from over you. All you could do, though, was laugh. You laughed loudly. You laughed freely. You laughed joyfully.

“Immortal, you say?”

His face went from shock to confusion and then hatred. “I won’t kill you. I can’t. I need you alive, but it won't be easy for you or painless. You caused me too much trouble-”

Your laughter stopped his speech. You could see the wrinkles on his forehead. Holding his hand, you squeezed it when he twisted the dagger. “Immortal, huh?” You laughed one last time before your eyes went completely white.

The corpses you had conjured at the beginning of the fight finally reached you. Animals, humans, and a bunch of things you didn’t recognize grabbed him and pulled him off you with the help of your parents. Having trouble standing, you were surprised to see Xavier’s mother extending a hand to help you up.

You could hear the man trashing and yelling. “We’re past this. You can’t kill me, so you plan to leave me here and run away? For the rest of your life?”

“This ends here.” You held the wound and pressed harder. “This ends here.”

When he heard you repeat yourself, something inside of him broke. In his eyes, you saw only fear.

“Please,” you begged the corpses and ghosts around you, “help me end this here.”

At the end of your words, they grabbed his limbs and pulled. His painful scream deafening, but you were too tired to care. One arm and one leg came off first. The rest followed soon after. He wailed, he howled, he cried. He cursed you until the end of times.

When his body was dismembered, you asked for the parts to be buried far apart from each other. You watched as his head sank down the earth, being dragged by the corpse of something you couldn’t name. Finally, when the ordeal ended, all you could say was, “So anticlimactic.”

Your parents helped you walk back to university, back to Xavier.

You walked slowly. The pain becoming too much for you to bear. Asking them for a moment of rest, you saw your parents exchanging glances.

“It will be alright, little one.” Your father cried by your side.

“We will always be by your side.” Your mother’s hand caressing your pale face.

“What are you talking about?”

Your mother’s voice wavering. “Take care of her. Will you?”

Xavier’s mother materializing by your side. “Always.” Only conviction in her tone.

“We love you so, so much, little one.”

“Stop it!” Tears ran down your face. “You are scaring me.”

They planted their hands on your wound. “You will die if we don’t help.”

Still a little confused, you tried to take their hands off you until you understood. “I can’t let you do this.”

“We saw you grow. Become a wonderful woman.” Your father curled your hair around his finger.

“We are so proud of you.” Your mother cried too. The tears rolling down her face like a river. “We will always be here.” She touched your heart.

“I love you too.” You hugged them. “I’ll miss you.”

At the end of your words, they were gone, and so was the wound.

Xavier’s mother looked at you. She, too, cried because she knew that pain too well.

In Your Heart is a cdrama bl, actual bl with kissing and not censored, that was made this year. It's about two high school best friends who fall in love. Me and @killerandhealerqueen have seen the first couple eps, I'm not sure if anyone's finished watching it.

YoYo English Channel on youtube is adding it! I'm not sure if they'll be cutting scenes or it will be the full original show, but I wanted to mention this because I am not sure if I've seen this show on any other major streaming platforms yet. It's cute and I'd recommend the watch
