GNC Trans (TGNC) Pride Flag

GNC (gender nonconforming): a term describing an individual whose gender presentation does not align with or reflect their gender identity.

Trans*: describing individuals whose gender or sex identity doesn't match one's birth assignment (transsex and/or transgender); or those who wear clothes that are not traditionally associated with the one's gender or sex (transvestic).

Some people use trans and GNC interchangeably, or overlapping each other. Trans GNC folks usually consider themselves both contextually.

where I live, almost no one knows what gnc means. they may know what nonbinary is, but not gnc. and I know some ppl use inconformist as an identifier, similar to genderf*ck or gender bender

I interpret my brain as being gnc. because outside I often very hairy and have short hair and am bearded most of the time. it's sometimes seen as overmasc/hypermasc. but internally I know I'm not like that.

if I were more precise, "not conformist" would be the best term. just like not from "not binary" (or binaryn't) with -ist from "anti-sexist", forming conformisn't.

Gender nonconformity isn't always understood, which can really suck when you want to be out and proud about your non-conforming identity. I think too many people assume that the way you present is always a reflection of your gender, so they can't (and won't) wrap their heads around the idea of breaking that gendered expectation. It's even more complicated when you aren't any kind of binary gender.

Hopefully, more people will allow themselves to be educated about different identities and grow to understand that people don't always fit neatly into boxes just because they're a certain gender. - 💙💚

Hi! I need some help. I’m trying to figure out if I’m gender non-conforming or androgyneflux. I can’t find anything online that tells me what the differences between the two are, and was hoping that you could help me.

I’m afab. Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve hated the color pink. I could settle for dark purple, but stayed away from “girly” colors. I also hate skirts and dresses- refused to wear them when I was a kid unless under heavy duress. I didn’t even start wearing makeup until senior year of high school and even then it was the bare minimum. I still don’t like wearing skirts or dresses, and most days will wear pants and a t-shirt.

I just need to know the differences between the two, cause my autistic ass is confused af.

GNC (gender non-conforming) was generally used in academia to talk about non-binary and genderqueer people among transgender individuals.

Androgyneflux is a specific identity and uses androgyne as prefix, as androgyne is a gender identity that alludes androgyny but isn't necessarily tied to the gender expression (presentation). However, regardless of its afixes, androgyneflux defined as "a state where you have fluctuating feelings of masculinity and femininity, but your gender identity stays the same". Then you notice that's not necessarily a gender identity. But it talks about gender and feelings related to the concept.

Interpersonally speaking, I'd say you're allowed to use androgyneflux, but you can also take a look in auragenders, celestial system gender terms, and other descriptors. Colorgenders/Colourgenders are also a good way to talk about your gender using colors. Also take note that not all GNC people will feel androgyneflux, many of them could have different perspectives, as one could feel more static or situated towards a spectrum corner than fluxing or versatile (versandrogyne) between both things.

El camino del solitario | Filosofía para inconformes

El camino del inconformismo es seductor para aquellos que no buscan seguir el rebaño conocido como sociedad.

En su lugar, quieren tomar decisiones individuales únicas en la vida, sin tener en cuenta las opiniones de los demás y desafiando las normas de la sociedad. Y al hacerlo, siguen su brújula interior, sus propias definiciones del bien y del mal, y las ideas de lo que es deseable e indeseable. Sin embargo, esta forma de vida puede provocar la resistencia del entorno y llevarnos, y digo llevarnos porque en mi caso soy una inconforme de tiempo completo y una solitaria sin remedio... convertirnos en paria social o a meternos en problemas. Por ello, muchas personas prefieren seguir la línea, cambiando su individualidad e independencia por los cómodos beneficios del convencionalismo.

A lo largo de la historia, varios filósofos influyentes han tratado la idea del inconformismo, a menudo con puntos de vista únicos.

Uno de los alegatos más conocidos a favor del inconformismo es el ensayo "Self-Reliance" del trascendentalista Ralph Waldo Emerson. Otro caso interesante para los que no se ajustan a la norma es la novela "El extranjero" de Albert Camus.

Y el concepto de Nietzsche del "superhombre" (o Übermensch) podría considerarse una llamada a las armas para liberarse del rebaño y forjar el propio camino. Aquí exploro el inconformismo y el "camino del solitario" utilizando las ideas de los tres filósofos.

Un ejemplo interesante de alguien que se niega a ajustarse a las normas de la sociedad es el protagonista de la novela El extranjero (L'Étranger) de Albert Camus.

La historia se desarrolla en el Argel francés y habla de un hombre llamado Meursault: un verdadero solitario.

A pesar de que le gustan cosas bastante normales como nadar, comer y la intimidad física, Meursault parece bastante desapegado. Cuando su madre muere, no parece importarle demasiado. Y al día siguiente, ve una película cómica con su cita: su antigua compañera de trabajo Marie. Cuando Marie le pide que se case con él tras un par de encuentros, él acepta con indiferencia. El inmoral y cruel Raymond, socio de Meursault y chulo del barrio abusa de su amante: una chica árabe. Cuando Meursault y Raymond pasean por la playa, se encuentran con el hermano de la chica, acompañado por otro hombre árabe. Como venganza por lo que ha hecho a su hermana, el hermano apuñala a Raymond en el brazo y en la cara. Después de curar sus heridas, Raymond vuelve a la playa con una pistola. Meursault le quita el arma a Raymond y lo manda a su casa.

Meursault continúa su paseo por la playa solo y se encuentra con los árabes. Cuando el hermano le enseña un cuchillo, Meursault le dispara cinco veces. En el libro, escrito en primera persona, Meursault no menciona ningún motivo para su acto, salvo que el calor y la luz del sol le molestaban.

Meursault no muestra ningún remordimiento por su crimen y se niega a renunciar a su ateísmo y a abrazar a Dios, lo que provoca la repugnancia de la gente que le rodea. Además, cuando resulta que no lloró en el funeral de su madre y fue a ver una película cómica al día siguiente, la gente concluye que es un asesino cruel y despiadado.

Aunque mató a alguien, no fue tan horrendo como la gente creía, ya que malinterpretaron su naturaleza indiferente como un síntoma de maldad. Al final de la historia, Meursault acepta que el universo no tiene sentido, justo antes de de su ejecución, lo que le otorga una sensación de libertad y paz interior.

El solitario Meursault era el raro, desafiando las normas sociales, siendo él mismo sin disculpas. No parece seguir las ideas convencionales del bien y el mal y sigue principalmente sus impulsos y sentimientos. Estaba aislado de la sociedad y de las emociones humanas. Era un inconforme, aunque no necesariamente por elección. Era diferente pero no sentía la necesidad de encajar.

El objetivo del libro El Extranjero no era justificar el asesinato, sino mostrar cómo la gente puede condenar a alguien que se niega a jugar el juego. La desaprobación de las masas es algo que a menudo experimentan quienes siguen sus propios caminos. Esa desaprobación puede llevar al ridículo, al ostracismo, a la acusación y, por tanto, a problemas con las autoridades, no sólo porque se infrinja la ley, sino porque la gente tiende a malinterpretar a los que no son como ellos. Pero, ¿es la desaprobación social una razón para conformarse?

El filósofo trascendentalista Ralph Waldo Emerson no lo cree.

La idea central del ensayo de Emerson llamado Self-Reliance es que, por encima de todo, debemos confiar en nuestra voz interior.

Emerson sostiene que todos estamos equipados con una intuición innata que nos dice qué hacer y que no es necesario buscar la orientación de otras personas. Sólo tenemos que mirar a los bebés, a los niños pequeños e incluso a los animales para ver que se dejan llevar por una inclinación natural que les dice lo que está mal y lo que está bien para ellos individualmente.

Emerson veía la voz interior como una chispa divina o "sobrealma": el Dios que reside dentro de nosotros. Desde su punto de vista, la autosuficiencia significa que seguimos nuestras voces interiores y las situamos por encima de las voces de los demás. Según Emerson, no tiene sentido imitar: cada uno ha sido designado para su parcela única. Lo que distingue a grandes personas como Platón y Moisés no es que siguieran a las masas sino que se siguieron a sí mismos.

Así que, para ser autosuficiente, hay que ser inconforme; hay que ir contra la normalidad si uno está inclinado a hacerlo.

Sin embargo, Emerson era consciente de los inconvenientes de ser un inconforme. Ir a contracorriente puede llevar a la resistencia, la incomprensión y el alejamiento del entorno, lo que también le ocurrió a Meursault de Camus.

"Ser grande es ser incomprendido"

afirmaba Emerson.

No debemos dejar que esta resistencia nos impida seguir nuestro propio camino, porque si a pesar de todo elegimos conformarnos por conveniencia, traicionamos nuestra brújula interior y, por tanto, a nosotros mismos.

Meursault se negó a traicionarse a sí mismo cuando el capellán le exigió que abrazara al Dios cristiano. Esto último posiblemente le habría facilitado las cosas, pero entonces no habría sido fiel a sí mismo. Aunque Emerson era panteísta (y, por tanto, creía que Dios está a nuestro alrededor y dentro de nosotros), nos instó a que nos hiciéramos cargo de las cosas. Nos instó a conectar con Dios sin un mediador, como, por ejemplo, el capellán de la historia de Camus o la iglesia en general.

Así que, aunque Meursault no fuera religioso, podríamos decir que, irónicamente, su chispa divina le instó a ser fiel a sí mismo y a rechazar una forma institucionalizada de religión. Emerson observó que la mayoría de la gente cambia su individualidad por el conformismo.

Así que, para ser inconformistas, debemos estar dispuestos a ir en contra de las normas sociales, si nuestra naturaleza nos inclina a hacerlo, lo cual es algo bastante radical.

Significa que ninguna ley, ya sea religiosa o impuesta por el gobierno, es más sagrada que la ley de la propia naturaleza. Sin embargo, Emerson nos insta a ser autosuficientes y parte de la sociedad simultáneamente, ya que es fácil conformarse entre la multitud, pero también es fácil no hacerlo cuando se vive en soledad.

"mantiene con perfecta dulzura la independencia de la soledad", lo que no significa que exhiba su "especialidad" sino que consigue vivir de forma independiente sin convertirse en un ermitaño.

El concepto de Friedrich Nietzsche llamado el "Súperhombre" o "Übermench" representaba un objetivo último para la humanidad. El superhombre está libre de la moral y las ideas sociales y religiosas y crea sus propios valores y objetivos, por lo tanto, parece haber un solapamiento entre la persona autosuficiente de Emerson y el ideal humano de Nietzsche.

Sin embargo, mientras que Emerson creía que el significado proviene del Dios interior, Nietzsche rechaza a Dios y hace del "sentido" un asunto puramente humano.

En el libro de Nietzsche "Also sprach Zarathustra", la idea del superhombre se despliega a través de la historia de un sabio llamado Zaratustra que difunde su sabiduría entre las personas abiertas a ella. Zaratustra proclama que los humanos son una cuerda sobre un abismo entre la bestia y el superhombre. Nuestro propósito es superar la distancia entre la bestia y el superhombre: una travesía peligrosa que trasciende la mediocridad y el conformismo en el que habitan las masas.

El ser humano es algo que debe ser superado. ¿Qué has hecho para superarlo? Todas las criaturas hasta ahora crearon algo más allá de sí mismas; ¿y tú quieres ser el reflujo de este gran diluvio e incluso prefieres volver a los animales antes que superar al ser humano?

¿Qué es el mono para un humano? Un hazmerreír o una dolorosa vergüenza. Y eso es precisamente lo que el humano será para el superhombre: un hazmerreír o una dolorosa vergüenza.

A Nietzsche no le gustaba la religión (concretamente el cristianismo), el nacionalismo y cualquier otra forma de forma de mentalidad de pandilla en la que las personas comparten un conjunto de valores que no son suyos. Como ovejas domesticadas, disfrutan de los placeres inferiores que les ofrece la sociedad y abrazan seguridad en lugar del arriesgado camino de convertirse en el superhombre, alguien que ha ido más allá de lo "humano", sobre el abismo, hacia el final de la cuerda.

Pero uno puede preguntarse: "¿por qué debería comprometerme en una empresa tan desafiante?".

La razón es la huida del nihilismo.

Con su famosa afirmación "Dios ha muerto", Nietzsche señaló la caída de Dios como una autoridad universalmente aceptada cuando se trata de la moral y la "verdad". Así que, para evitar que caigamos en el nihilismo o en sucedáneos como el nacionalismo, Neoliberalismo, Comunismo, Capitalismo e ideologías odiosas como consecuencia de la falta de sentido y de preocupación última, tenemos que reforzar nuestros valores y propósitos individuales.

Pero para ello hay que liberarse del rebaño, que por ignorancia intenta arrastrarnos de nuevo a la comodidad, la seguridad, las ideologías compartidas, la moral arcaica y, especialmente hoy en día, al consumismo desenfrenado, que nos mantiene débiles, dóciles, insatisfechos e infelices.

Así que, basándonos en las opiniones de Nietzsche y Emerson, podemos decir que nosotros mismos creamos el camino del solitario.

No es un camino pavimentado por otros, ni el camino menos transitado; es único para nosotros, diseñado por nosotros, y atraviesa un paisaje exclusivamente nuestro para explorar. Un camino único necesita una brújula específica y para reforzarnos contra el nihilismo, necesitamos crear valores y propósitos sólidos.

Pero, como vemos en El extranjero de Camus, si elegimos desviarnos de la ruta convencional nos convertimos en los raros e invitamos a la desaprobación social.

Por lo tanto, para comprar el inconformismo, necesitamos fuerza y voluntad para que se rían de nosotros, para ser en muchos ámbitos, (familiares, sociales) despreciados, e incluso castigados.

Definition: being completely or predominantly gender inconformist/nonconformist/anticonformist/deconformist; advocating for radical and drastic changes in the structural gender norms (a gender revolution) or their abolition and complete disruption.

Once someone also told me volution (volutionist/volutionary) is also a term, alluding evolution.

There is an angle to the civilization of Hallownest and the impact of the Pale King’s rule upon it that I have seen rather neglected on Hollow Knight’s worldbuilding discussions, and it is the sheer stage of development and refinement the kingdom had reached when the Infection first appeared.

Of course, by the time the Knight returns there are few are few characters left who can offer insight into the inner workings of ancient Hallownest, but a lot of things can be inferred from the ruins of this dilapidated kingdom:

1. Hallownest had not one, but two working transport networks(the Stagways and the Tram). At the kingdom’s peak, the services of the Stag beetles were well-established through-out and widely available to its citizens, while the Tram still was in an early stage of development and use and thus, its use was restricted to select individuals chosen by the Pale King(probably to aid them in official assignments).

Even so, it’s easy to imagine the Tram was intended to eventually render the Stagways obsolete.

2. Scattered all around Crystal Peak, there is evidence it hosted a fully-fledged mining operation(one that employed functional automatons, no less!), probably because of the potential applications of its endemic crystalline formations as power sources an jewellry material.

It’s impossible to ascertain how much time the operation was active, but the kind of infraestructure we see through the mountain’s galleries isn’t laid out in two days.

3. The Teacher’s Archives not only are a repository for the accumulated knowledge of Hallownest, but also a laboratory for research and innovation.

The preserved swarm of Charged Lumaflies seems to be there because Monomon was studying them(perhaps she was researching electricity as a power source?), and the Ooma and Uoma that populate the Fog Canyon imply she also dabbled in the creation of artificial life.                                        

It’s possible both of these experiments were part of a larger project, as the capacity of the Uoma to generate electricity may be taken to mean they were suposed to serve as power sources of sorts, having been judged to be more reliable than the Lumaflies.

These evidences show Hallownest as a developed civilization that, in its peak, had reached or surpassed their analogue of the Industrial Age and also, it contributes to paint a picture of the Pale King as a ruler with  scholastic tendencies, a tinkerer who felt the compulsion to experiment and “improve” the world around him until it matched his ideal vision.

This perspective certainly can give new depth and perspective to some snippets of lore, such as the feeling of betrayal the scholars of the Soul Sanctum experienced when their monarch banned their research, or why Monomon held such an esteemed position despite her questioning and inconformist mindset.

Perhaps the Pale King saw in her a kindred soul of sorts, among the rest of Hallownest’s inhabitants?

Many Spanish people pejoratively call Catalan people (especially those from Catalonia) “polacos” (“Poles”) and the Catalan language “polaco” (“Polish”) because we are often seen as weird and speaking a weird language, since we have a different language and culture than Castile/Spain.

Most people think that calling us “polacos” was invented in the 20th century, since the term gained a lot of popularity among the fascist military and Spanish nationalists during the fascist dictatorship of Franco (1939-1975). But, in fact, the term originates from the 18th or 19th century. There are different theories that experts believe are the origin of this:

Because of the similarity between both nations, Catalans and Poles are much alike. Back then, Poland was also an invaded nation trying to get its independence. The Poles’ feelings of inconformist patriotism could be compared to what was also going on in Catalonia, where Catalanist politicians were trying to get some rights for the Catalan people, but met with rejection from the Spanish government.In the 20th century, the paralelism between both nations increased. Catalonia was invaded by the fascist Spanish troops at the beginning of 1939 as part of the Spanish Civil War. In September of the same year, Poland was invaded by the Nazis. Some people think that this also played a role in making the term more popular.

Another hypothesis says that this term is a direct consequence of the fact that battalions of Polish mercenaries helped the Austrias side during the Spanish War of Succession (1701-1715, a war in which Castile gave support the Bourbon monarchy and Catalonia-Aragon gave support to the Austrias, and resulted in the victory of Castile and its invading the Catalan Countries and banning our language and culture, starting a process of forced “Spanishization”). Then Castilians took the term “polacos” to refer to those who were on the Austrias’ side, most importantly Catalans, kinda being their equivalent of our word botifler. It later became more popular because Catalan was considered difficult to understand, and so comparable to Polish.

Other historians say that in the 18th century Madrid, the public in theatres were divided in two sides, and one side was called “polacos”. The “polacos” side was very loud, and for this reason the term “polacos” was spread to the Catalan politicians who went to Madrid to ask the Spanish government for some rights for the Catalan people and language.

Lastly, some historians point to a dictionary of slang political insults from Madrid in the 19th century. In this dictionary, the term “polaco” means those politicians who went to the Courts to ask for particular cause, or that of their region. In Spanish politics, Catalans were the most insistent politicians in this sense, and in international politics it was the Poles, since Poland was trying to gain recognition. According to the historian José Luis Gómez Urdáñez, both Catalans and Poles were “always showing their miseries of stateless nation.”

It is possible that some of these reasons are linked, and more than one is true.

I’d also like to add that here in Catalonia we have a very famous political satyre TV show called Polònia (“Poland”), as a parody of this!
