Why Messmate Furniture Is the Perfect Blend of Style and Sustainability
In today's world, where environmental consciousness is on the rise and consumers are increasingly seeking sustainable options, the furniture industry is undergoing a significant transformation.
Gone are the days when style and sustainability were considered mutually exclusive. Now, there's a growing demand for furniture that not only looks good but also minimizes its environmental footprint.
One such material that perfectly embodies this blend of style and sustainability is messmate timber. Let's delve deeper into why messmate furniture stands out as the perfect choice for eco-conscious consumers.
The Beauty of Messmate: Aesthetic Appeal
Natural Beauty: Messmate timber, sourced from the eucalyptus tree species commonly found in Australia, boasts a unique and captivating appearance. Its warm hues, varying from pale browns to rich chocolates, coupled with intricate grain patterns, lend an unmistakable charm to any piece of furniture crafted from it.
Versatility: One of the most appealing aspects of messmate timber is its versatility in design. Whether you prefer sleek, modern aesthetics or rustic, farmhouse charm, messmate furniture effortlessly adapts to various interior styles. From elegant dining tables to cozy bed frames, this timber can be fashioned into virtually any furniture piece, adding character and warmth to your living space.
Timeless Appeal: Unlike trendy materials that quickly fall out of fashion, messmate furniture possesses a timeless appeal. Its classic beauty transcends passing trends, ensuring that your investment in messmate pieces will continue to enhance your home's ambiance for years to come.
Tumblr media
Environmental Friendliness
Renewable Resource: One of the primary reasons behind the sustainability of messmate timber is its status as a renewable resource. Eucalyptus trees, the source of messmate timber, grow relatively quickly compared to other hardwood species, making them an environmentally responsible choice for furniture production. Moreover, responsible harvesting practices ensure the regeneration of forests, maintaining ecological balance.
Low Environmental Impact: Unlike furniture made from non-renewable materials or those requiring intensive manufacturing processes, messmate furniture boasts a significantly lower environmental impact. From production to disposal, messmate furniture leaves behind a smaller carbon footprint, contributing to efforts aimed at mitigating climate change and preserving natural resources.
Local Sourcing: Opting for messmate furniture also supports local economies and reduces the environmental costs associated with transportation. By sourcing timber from sustainably managed forests within Australia, manufacturers minimize the ecological impact of long-distance shipping, further enhancing the environmental credentials of messmate furniture.
Durability and Longevity
Hardwearing Nature: Messmate timber is renowned for its durability and resilience, making it an excellent choice for furniture intended to withstand daily use. Whether it's a dining table enduring countless family gatherings or a sturdy bookshelf supporting heavy volumes, messmate furniture stands the test of time, retaining its beauty and functionality for generations.
Minimal Maintenance: Unlike furniture made from synthetic materials that require specialized care or frequent replacements, messmate furniture is relatively low-maintenance. Simple cleaning and occasional polishing are all it takes to preserve the natural beauty of messmate timber, reducing the need for harsh chemicals and prolonging the lifespan of your furniture.
Investment Value: While messmate furniture may entail a slightly higher upfront cost compared to mass-produced alternatives, its exceptional durability translates into long-term savings. By investing in high-quality messmate pieces, consumers not only enjoy furniture that lasts but also contribute to a more sustainable consumption model by prioritizing longevity over disposability.
Conclusion
In a world where environmental concerns are increasingly shaping consumer preferences, messmate furniture emerges as a shining example of style meeting sustainability.
With its natural beauty, eco-friendly credentials, and unmatched durability, messmate timber offers a compelling choice for conscientious consumers seeking furniture that not only enhances their living spaces but also aligns with their values.

Oz’s SYPAQ sends Ukraine high-performance cardboard drones
Bruce Crumley | Mar 7 2023 - 4:13 am PT
Tumblr media
Leading UAV developers DraganFly, Quantum-Systems, AeroVironment, and Teledyne Flir are among the companies that have provided cutting-edge aerial craft to Ukraine’s defense against the Russian invasion, but Australian firm SYPAQ Systems is distinguishing itself in that supportive effort by providing Kyiv with drones made of cardboard.
Tumblr media
Indeed, the techiest tool required to put the craft together is reportedly a money wrench to mount the front-end motor and propeller.
Be that as it may, that simplified version of an IKEA bookshelf slap-together process contrasts with the craft’s geek bona fides when in operation.
Read: Ukraine reportedly assembles half of its 1,000 FPV drone fleet for attacking Russian targets [Video]
SYPAQ says the cardboard drone will allow Ukraine’s pilots to fly it on missions of up to 120 kilometers, using easily pre-programmed routes for automated operation that frees up would-be pilots for other tasks until the UAV returns. Onboard tech also permits the craft to figure out where it is and continue its assigned trajectory in GPS-denied areas, or amid serious Russian communication jamming.
Corvo, SYPAQ notes, will offer Ukraine forces a “low cost, expendable drone for the delivery of supplies and equipment into areas traditional logistics capabilities cannot reach.”
But it adds that working on feedback provided by Ukrainian operators, the UAV “has also been adapted for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions” using various kinds of specialized sensor payloads.
Those added capacities logically suggest SYPAQ’s pizza box drones can gather actionable information on Russian positions and preparations up to 60 kilometers away, then return with precise detail for Ukraine troops to use in preventive or pro-active operations.
Officials in Ukraine have acknowledged the drone can also be modified to drop munitions – and have already been used that way against enemy targets.
Should the UAVs be spotted and neutralized, all that’s lost is the couple or three thousand bucks they reportedly cost (the company does not communicate its prices), as well as onboard sensors – far less expensive than the destruction of adapted enterprise, public safety, or military-grade craft normally deployed.

The Corvo support comes as part of Australia’s assistance to Kyiv in battling Russia’s invasion, with the craft having been developed under a AUS $11 million ($7.3 million) contract with the government’s Defence Innovation Hub.
Despite the low-tech nature of the drone’s main component, SYPAQ CEO Amanda Holt says the Corvo system will provide Ukraine with an affordable but highly effective aerial asset – and one the company is delivering at the rate of about 100 per month.
“PPDS is an Australian capability that will help the Ukrainian people defend their country, and is proof of the world-leading autonomous systems capabilities in Australian industry,” Holt said.
“This capability is the result of an innovation journey with the Army and the Defence Innovation Hub, and demonstrates the importance of collaboration between Defence and industry on capability development.”

felix most certainly gets more than he bargained for, after his most anticipated wish comes true in the most unimaginable way possible
°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°l||l°
felix's daily mantras ranged from 'it's not that scary', to 'you can do it', even as far as 'it'll be okay'. the one that he never thought he'd use - and in a dream, nonetheless - was 'this can't be real'. but it was, at least in his dreams. he stood in the center of what looked like a school classroom - maybe ms. lee's? - facing off with a machine, with the words 'fortune teller cards - tear here' written on a plaque, with a slot just underneath it. before the curiosity had too much time to eat away at him, his dream self stepped forward and pressed the button just  a foot or so above the plaque, listening to the quiet churning inside the machine before what looked like a raffle ticket was spit out, into felix's waiting hand.
his eyes widened at the words 'your wish has been granted', before confusion took place of wonder and he stared at it harder, wondering which wish it was. he had many - when his parents struggled, he wished to be strong and able to take away their problems. when the kids at school teased him for his looks, or the fact that he was shorter than 97% of the male population at the school, he wished to be someone bigger, someone taller. when his best friends all began finding their soulmates and getting into relationships, he wished that he could be like that, finding the one he was meant for, whoever that may be.  he wasn't allowed more than a few moments to think about it, before a loud, shrill shriek broke the serenity of the room, and he jolted up in bed.
an unfamiliar room greeted his arrival back into the waking world, and he scrambled out of bed to the mirror hanging on the wall, praying that maybe this was the wish that he wanted to come true the most - to meet the one he was meant for.  he stared at a strangers face in the reflective surface, at the sharp jawline and soft cheeks and bangs that he knew he could never pull off, and suddenly realized that he, felix lee, was inhabiting the body of his soulmate.  scrambling to the door and searching for a bathroom, felix realized that his soulmate must be older than he was, since it appeared that he lived in an apartment by himself, given that there were no other signs of life in the space that he found himself in.  just down the hall from the bedroom was the bathroom, where felix threw himself in front of the mirror to make sure that it wasn't a trick, even though he knew from the start that it wasn't.  his soulmate couldn't be much shorter than himself, maybe a few centimeters, but the strong jawline and stern face made him seem much bigger than he actually was.  felix turned his face this way and that way, taking in all the features of his soulmates face, making different faces towards himself in the mirror, and even playing with the piercings that hung from his ears.  it wasn't long before nature called, and he did his business before wandering out of the room to find something to eat, wondering about the morality of taking a shower while he was in a body other than his own.  he decided that if he a: had to go somewhere, or b: was still in this body the next day, he would take a shower.
it wasn't long before he was exploring the rest of the apartment with a bowl of dry cereal in hand, munching on small fingerfuls at a time.  with sugar coated fingertips, he picked up a frame and took in the picture nestled inside - the same body that he was in stood at the center, with two people that were shorter than him on one side, and two taller on the other.  all of them wore bright grins, the happiness reflected in the photograph filling felix's own chest and making him smile as well, tracing his finger over the edge of the frame before setting it down.  he moved on to the next one, that appeared to be a family photo.  felix's soulmate sat in the center, seated in an ornate chair with a woman sitting on the arm of it, and a man standing just behind them, with his hands on their shoulders.  the smiles in the photo seemed fake, moreso for looks that actually being happy to take pictures with one another.  felix was reminded of the family photos that lined his own dresser in his dorm, pictures of his family on the beach and on a trip to the mountains and even once, when they went on a boat.  he could easily picture their faces in his mind, all sunburned smiles and a pure happiness radiating from the picture.  with a small sigh, he put the photo down and continued his amble around the room, stopping to examine the bookshelf full of records and cd's, most of the artists in a language he quickly recognized as korean, but could barely read.  it took him back to the time his mother had insisted that he learned her mother tongue, but he had refused, saying that he would never need it.  however, he did pick up the alphabet, and was using his small knowledge to sound out the words and try to pick out some words that sounded like their english counterpart.  after a few minutes, he gave up and moved on to the next area - the couch, with a coffee table in front of it and a laptop propped open on it's surface.
sitting next to it was a phone, still hooked up to the charger.  felix set his bowl of dry cereal down, scooping another mouthful into his mouth as he fumbled with the phone, realizing quickly that it had a fingerprint sensor, and that his soulmate - thankfully - had his index finger put in.  it didn't take much for felix to find the app that would allow him to call his own phone, fingers automatically dialing his familiar number.  a second of hesitance led to him deleting it, before retyping it, a cyle that repeated itself numerous times before he finally hit the call button, holding the phone to his ear as he shoved more cereal in his mouth, waiting for the click that would let him know that he was connected.  it rang once, twice, three times, before he was sent to voicemail.  frustrated, he tried again, and then a third time, before finally giving up.  after piecing together that his soulmate was in south korea, and that his own body was in his home in australia, felix looked up the time differences and frowned.  he was only two hours behind the other, meaning that it was nearing noon in his home country, while it was only 10 am for him.
sighing, felix flicked through the apps on the phone, tapping on facebook and then to his soulmate's profile, scrolling through in an attempt to piece together more about the other.  from what he saw, the other - seo changbin, he found out soon enough - was older, and didn't spend much time on facebook.  there were a few posts here and there, including a sudden influx for his birthday.  before long, felix had also located his twitter, finding a substantial amount more there than he had on any other social media - links to his soundcloud, rants about the industry that he worked in, and even friendly banter between himself and some of his friends, and even some of his followers.  as he was reading through a thread that the other had posted, a notification slid down from the top of the screen, indicating that an unknown number was calling, and prompting felix to accept or decline.  recognizing his own phone number, felix accepted and held the phone to his ear, listening to his own voice spouting a language that he knew he didn't know.  he told the other to calm down, slow down, and to find chris.
chris was their best shot at a translator - having learned korean from a young age, chris was considerably better than felix, and was almost considered fluent.  there was shuffling on the other line, before a click signaled that he had been hung up on.  with yet another sigh, felix found himself leaning back on the back of the couch, staring up at the ceiling with the phone hanging limp in his hand.  there was a silence that seemed to stretch on forever, before the phone rang again, and felix accepted without even checking the number.  he heard his best friend's voice on the other line, speaking quickly with the other.  in english, felix called for his attention, and tried his best to explain what happened, about his wish and suddenly ending up in a strangers home.  he blamed the whole ordeal on himself, but was stopped in his tracks by chris.  "did you not see what day it is?" the elder asked, prompting felix to check the date on the computer, finding that it was his 20th birthday.  his mouth dropped open, remembering what his teacher had taught them about soulmates, and everything clicked into place.
it wasn't long before felix and changbin were exchanging plans, filling one another in on the things that needed to happen until they switched back.  changbin requested that felix post a track that he had been working on, and actively promote it on social media until changbin was able to do it himself.  in return, felix asked that changbin keep his blog semi active, asking chris to help with translations of the content and such.  along with that, felix had a dinner with his family later that week - just in case, he filled changbin in on what that would entail, before changbin threw back that he had dinner plans with his friend group the day after.  they spent hours sharing information and plans, filling one another in on the things that needed handled.
when they finally hung up, felix lay back on the couch with another long sigh, and a mantra of 'what did i get myself into?', followed shortly after with a loud groan.

Note
would you mind sharing a little more about the mentor ship process? As in like, what you hope to get out of your experience and how you approached the author? I only ask because I’ve been super interested myself for a long time but had no idea where to even start )):
Of course! I mean, I’m in the very, very early stages, so idk how helpful any of this will be.
I’m very lucky; I know a creative producer who works with the organisation I’m trying to get a grant through. She’s the wife of one of my former teachers; I wouldn’t say she knows me very well, but my town is pretty limited in terms of young artists so she remembers me. She sent me a Facebook message and said that she heard that I’d been struggling with moving forward with any of my projects and she wants to meet up with me to chat about some options I might be interested in.
So, terrified and sweaty, I sit at this little bakery waiting for her. I have no idea what she’s going to talk to me about. I had this feeling I was going to walk away more lost and less motivated than before.
So, she tells me about her job, what she does, who she helps, what she knows. She explained the place she works for has applications for grants twice a year for people under the age of 26. And fucking bombards me with all this information.
She offered the suggestion of a mentorship and I fucking sparked. I had no idea it was even an option. I was even like ‘idk who to ask’ and she was like ‘ask literally any author. the sky is the limit.’. A lot of authors have done mentorships before, so there are probably a heap out there that would be interested.
I raced home and googled Australian authors. I want to do a temporary residency with this author and moving outside of Australia seems so ridiculous. Anyway, didn’t find any names that I recognised. Nor any authors that wrote in my genre (YA is super niche in Australia). I was pretty bummed out. I started sifting through author’s names on my bookshelf - skipped passed the big names - and got to Jodi McAlister’s name. Her Valentine series was something I’d read like six months prior and a story that I really enjoyed. And Yahtzee. She’s Australian, she writes YA and I already fucking own two of her books. On top of that she’s a professor. I feel like I’ll learn a lot from her.
I’ve almost finished the email. It’s hefty. 800 words. Man, I hope she says yes.
So yeah, I need to win the fellowship first. But if I do, I want to work with this author for a few months, which might mean moving temporarily, write the first three chapters of my novel and the synopsis under her guidance.
As for you. Depending on your situation there’s a few different places you can start.
Do you need support and funding during your mentorship?
Google art organisations in your area/state/country.
Read about their eligibility and requirements.
Look at what they offer in terms of grants.
Register for mailing lists for writing groups and businesses and keep up-to-date with opportunities they’re offering.
Go to workshops and start meeting people in the industry, get your name out there, make friends with people who are interested in the same things you are.
Build a CV and portfolio.
Apply.
Finding the mentor
Write a list of authors you’d like to work with. People you absolutely admire and people who have a similar style to you or authors that have similar characters as you.
Google a list of authors in your genre who accept mentorships and add them to your list.
Email them.
(ps: i would assume they want to be paid for being a mentor. but i haven’t gotten to those questions yet. so if you’re not going to apply for a grant, think about the $$ too)
The email
Tell them who you are and why you’re emailing them.
Tell them your situation (are you working and have limited hours? are you applying for a grant?)
What’s the plan? (how long? what are you writing? how much are you writing under their guidance?)
What do you want to gain from this mentorship?
Why did you choose this author?
Send it the fuck away.
The worst they can say is no.
Idk if any of this helped, but good luck! I hope you find the right mentor and write your butt off!

Showed in Your Eyes
Summary: In the heat of the moment you find yourself forgetting your surroundings only knowing what is in front of you.
Minho X Jisung
Oneshot
This is for my Secret Santa job for Stray Kids Secret Santa Exchange @lee-knows-it I hope you enjoy this I tried to make it to your liking and all (I also wish you happier days, and warm hugs and smiles) @skzsecretsanta thanks for making this possible :)
Gang Au (Knocking out someone(s), kidnapping, selling drugs, hacking, I guess I did mention stabbing, but no deaths!)
You better believe this gang is strong, mostly because of their tight family bonds, these nine are inseparable and would go great lengths to protect each other their much more like a mafia because of their strong family bond
But they are more just nine kids that didn’t have support from their families, found each other and started relying on each other to make income
Chan is the leader of stray kids, no surprise there because he's quite smart, although he got into dealing drugs… he has a 4.0 GPA in college rn which is impressive, and actually tutors a few people he sells drugs to. He makes alliances with other gangs so if there is ever a time they go belly up he knows got7 will have their back and so will twice
Jeongin the youngest and helps makes the drugs alongside Seungmin, and packages it and sends it to Hyunjin who makes the deals
Seungmin he makes drugs alongside Jeongin and he likes to do chemistry so when he by accidentally found out how to make drugs, he was selling them and that lead to some trouble until he made friends with Woojin and he enlisted him into the gang
Hyunjin makes deals, but not only because he's handsome, its because the kid has a way with words, acts like he's giving them deals, by telling them a higher price than they are charging for, if they're not going for the price he starts off with, he'll tell them “You know you're cute, say what, I'll give you 50 percent off” they fall for it everytime
Woojin and Chan met by chance, Chan switched his course in bio, and Woojin needed a partner, and they were talking and found out they both could use each other
Woojin can make friends with ease and makes sure he can trust them before he draws them in to the gang
Changbin knew Jisung since high school and they both joined at the same time
They both do the same thing of dealing out drugs, although Changbin can be more aggressive if the person starts haggling Hyunjin for a lower price
Jisung may look soft and squishy but he puts up a fight like no other, they always think they can steal from Jisung because of his looks, they have another thing going
Hyunjin is so glad to have them behind him when he is making deals
Minho is a fighter, if the group ever gets into any trouble he is the one who is ready to beat up anyone who hurts his family, he also the interrogator of the group, much more of the bad cop
Also forgot to mention that Chan is the good cop interrogator if someone messes with them and comes into their borders without a reasonable reason
Felix was the last one to get into the gang he is a skilled hacker, he was on the run from Australia the govt caught him hacking in, Woojin found out and asked him if he wanted to join and they would never snitch on him, and Felix agreed and is the hacker for group and if anyone ever gets kidnapped or anything he is first to know and already laying out the blueprints to get them out
If we’re going in order how it works, Woojin recruit the members in the gang, Chan makes alliances with other gangs and sets up the meeting to sell the drugs, Jeongin and Seungmin are the drug makers, once the drug is made, it is handed over to Hyunjin, Hyunjin goes to the meeting place with Changbin and Jisung ready to jump in, if all fails and they get kidnapped, Felix is on it in a second, hacking into the cameras finding out where they were taken, once he finds out, Minho is on it in second, and without fail bails them out
Jisung and Hyunjin went together on a drug sale, Changbin was sick but trusted the two could take it in just like the rest of the gang thought they could
It turns out that the guy they were dealing with was aggressive, didn't like haggling, and started taking out on the two Jisung started fighting with him told Hyunjin to run and tell the others, thinking he had it
Before Hyunjin even made it off the side street, Jisung was snatched off the street and kidnapped
The minute Minho heard the news, his heart broke and he was blistering with anger
He started demanding Felix to work faster, he watched through the camera as Jisung was picked up and thrown into the back, he couldn't hear what was going on but he was kicking the man, but it was clear there were others
Minho turned away not being able to bare watching the scene unfold
He wouldn't lie if you asked him if he had feelings for Jisung he flat out tell you he did
He's just to shy to tell it to Jisung so he just babies him with cuddles and always worries about him, he would love to admit it but he worries about Jisung just liking him as a friend
And seeing that Jisung just got kidnapped his heart is completely crushed
“I found it just let me hack into the system and get your blueprints” A deep voice calls out, pulling Minho out of his thoughts
Not another minute goes before Felix prints it out, he gets up, “Go get your man” Minho's blush covers his face, he puts in his bluetooth and slams the car into drive down seven blocks parking across the street
Felix telling him to “go left and there should be an open window there” he hops up in
“Two guards coming up fast,... you're clear now, go down two doors on the right” Minho rushing being careful not to make a sound he sighs as he opens and shuts the door
“Secret bookshelf it should be the fifth green book on the 3rd shelf that opens it” he scans over the books, pulling at the grin book and nothing happens
“I don't think-” as the bookshelf starts spinning, “Late reaction I guess… anyway, you should be seeing three doors, pick the very first one and in there is Jisung but be warned he isn't alone!!”
Minho pulls up his black bandana, and opens the door, meeting a dark, wet, cement, he carefully steps in and slips into the corner
It must be a boiler room, and he looks and sees a shadow he quickly takes a stab at the person and they let out a grunt, “What's wrong, Lucas?” he hears a voice call out, he muffles his hand over Lucas mouth and quickly rids the man of any weapons while Lucas tries to fight back, to no avail, Minho knocks him out slamming his head enough against the cement to knock him out
“Lucas can't you see I'm in the middle of something!!!” a man screams out, stomping angrily towards them pulling a gun out at Minho, “What did you do to him?” “What did you do to Jisung?”
“Oh so this what this about… well I'm Taeyong, you're pretty good at sneaking past people aren't you?” Minho visibly gulps, “Well, let's make a trade you help Lucas up and bandage him. I'll see over it Jisung will stay here and I will give him back”
“You must care about your members a lot” “More than you would ever guess”
They take Lucas into another room and bandage him up and Lucas moans out in pain and rolls over but refuses to get up, “Now take me to Jisung and let me leave”
“Oh I'll take you to Jisung alright” and a gun is placed in the small of Minho's back taking Minho's arms and twisting them behind his back with one hand holding the gun in place and pushing him into the other room
Minho growls and loosens up, before he takes Taeyong on by surprise and throws him over him, in a quick burst he wrangles the gun out of Taeyong's hand, finally, seeing Jisung in front of him
He sighs in relief as he looks at Jisung, but before he could do anything to try to save Jisung he feels Taeyong move and start kicking at him, in one fail swoop he bashes his head on the ground to knock him out long enough to save Jisung and get out of there
He tips off the bandana on Jisung’s face seeing tears streaming down his face he looks up and sees Minho, his eyes widening as he softly gasps. Minho pulls his bandana down
He squats down to his level before cutting off the ropes surrounding Jisung's wrists
Jisung wraps his arms Minho, he laughs in relief, “I'm so glad it's you that came for me” Minho nods as he cuts the ropes from around his ankles
Before he can lift him over his shoulder and listen to what Felix is telling him, Jisung whispers, “I know it's a bad time to say this,... but you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever had chance to catch a glimpse of…” Minho feels his heart speed up, he seeing his chance, he takes his chin into his hand and kisses Jisung
He feels Jisung kiss back, he realizes where he is, “We can continue this later” he throws him over his shoulder, “Okay Felix tell me where it's clear"
Felix guides him through with ease, he rushes out the car and speeds off, his hand finding Jisung's as he makes it back to Woojin's house. He parks in the lot and Jisung thanks him over and over again, “So where were we” Jisung laughs, kissing Minho's cheek, “Take me on a date first” Minho rolls his eyes, “Anything for you my dear”
It turned out Jisung liked Minho more than just friends, and would make a strong relationship making the gang stronger and better than ever
Then one day they got caught the police held mercy on the nine, and cleared their records, told them to become big, and to never get into trouble or they would be in sling
They listened and sometimes life just works out that way, and if you're wondering they did make it big, becoming Stray Kids the kpop group no longer a gang, and they never got in trouble ever again
Minho and Jisung being the biggest gay kpop in the industry, support coming not just from each other but the fans as well
Nerves from stage fright will never beat gun fights, but they could easily get used to it
After all with the family altogether, nothing could come in their way, a strong bond they hold and will continue to hold for a very long time
They became sensations from speaking out about their struggles to being wise and knowledgeable about the world around them
Taking part in whatever they could to make the world a better place and possibly their smiles could make a difference in their fan’s days
They truly could and can like no one else, being so supportive or everyone they come across and it comes back to them just as equally or more so
(Sorry if it ended weird I was watching the new Cinderella and it made me go third point of view I'd fix it but I seems to me like the perfect end. I hope you enjoyed it and I wanted to get it out sooner but… I hope you had an amazing holiday, and a wonderful new year, for many more to come :)

Feminism in the Internet Age: Everyone has a Seat at the Table
The 1970s and 80s gave birth to second wave feminism, a movement that saw women across the world actively rally against gender inequality. During this era of feminism, women marched and protested for a number of different rights, including equal pay, equal job opportunity and abortion reform, amongst others. As a united female cohort, we have now reached a time where women have more opportunities than they did 30 years ago. However, feminism and feminist values are still just as, if not more so, talked about today. This fact is due in large part to social media.
Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have increased feminism’s accessibility by connecting women across the world. They have abolished the limitations of how far the promotion of gender equality can reach and allowed local issues to be globally recognized. Social media changed the game for organised marches and protests. It is not just women in any given area who rally together now. Instead, women across the world can fight the good fight for all women all the time.
Tumblr media
Image Description: Photo of a person’s hand holding a white IPhone. The screen shows the Instagram login page. It has a purple background, with the word ‘Instagram’ at the top of the screen in white cursive writing. Underneath, there are two rectangular boxes that say ‘username’ and ‘password’. Below these boxes, there is some small, indistinguishable white writing. The background of the image is blurred and unidentifiable.
The online world has opened gender equality and feminism to women who previously did not have the means to participate, including those who live in societies that quite openly view women as the inferior gender. The Qatar Computing Research Institute conducted a study that revealed women living in countries with significant “offline” gender inequalities, such as life expectancy, income, and literacy were more likely to have a substantial online presence. In such instances, a woman who does not have the rights and equalities she deserves can search elsewhere for acceptance and respect. She is opened up to an online community of women who, in varying degrees, all rally for the same thing: equality. Despite the bad wrap social media often gets, the connectedness it fosters is unparalleled.
Social media platforms have given power to the ‘hashtag’, which represents and promotes issues or events in a very simple and accessible way. #Metoo is one of the most recent and controversial hashtags. It gained traction after many women in the film industry came forward and publicly named men who had sexually assaulted and abused them. The hashtag crossed barriers and gave women, famous and otherwise, the courage to come forward and report their abuse. This courage was fuelled by solidarity and newfound community.
In 2015, two years prior to the rise of the #Metoo hashtag, the hashtag #askhermore went viral. It was used to draw attention to the distinct differences in how men and women were interviewed and reported on at red carpet events, awards ceremonies or sports events. Actresses, female singers  or athletes are constantly bombarded with questions such as, “Who are you wearing?” and “Tell us about your dress”, whereas men are asked about their successes and achievements. The popularity of movements such as #metoo and #askhermore can be attributed in part to the ease with which people can participate in calls for change.
In addition to increasing access to reactionary movements and the promotion of current issues, the internet allows feminists and women to come together in beautiful ways to share ideas, opinions, and experiences. For example, Emma Watson, the popular actress and ambassador for UN Women, created a wonderful online book club called Our Shared Shelf. It is an online group set up through Goodreads, in which Watson herself selects a feminist book every two months for participants to read and discuss. Currently boasting 224,608 224561registered members, the page aims to introduce women to feminist literature written by women of all different cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. This is another amazing way the online world has created an accessible, diverse and inclusive environment for everyone to engage in the feminist movement.
Tumblr media
Image Description: Close up photo of a bookshelf. There are no identifiable titles or covers, and four rows of the shelf fit in the frame. The books alternate in size and colour. The colours of the books range from brown, black, dark blue, red and white. The bookshelf itself is a dark grey/faded black colour.
As a nation, Australia has a full-time work gender pay gap of 14.1%. With 32% of seats in both Houses of Parliament, women are still under-represented in Australian’s politics, and those who do have a seat are not treated with the same respect and seriousness as their male counterparts. When a country as developed and advanced as Australia still has obvious undertones of misogynistic and sexist behaviours, it is hard to imagine how much worse it must be for women in countries where they are not given a voice at all. Feminism is an ongoing movement because women all over the world still face inequalities. Despite the progress we’ve seen in the last 30 years, its presence is felt now more than ever because the online world gave us the gift of instant accessibility. On the internet, everyone is invited to take a seat at the table.

Indeed, these handy tools, favoured among mail room supervisors, office managers, and shipping and receiving personnel, are so flexible that some prefer the more general labels "utility knife," "safety knife," or, at the very least, "package opener." Given the advances in safety that manufacturers have achieved, the term "safety knife" may make the most sense. Many of these little blades now include in-handle blade storage, quick blade replacement, ergonomic grips, and auto-retracting blades, among other safety features. These advancements make safety knives beneficial for anyone who often works with packaging, which is the vast majority of us. The stockroom's safety knives have been relocated to the living room.
Tumblr media
They are, of course, useful for everybody who gets mail.
(If you made an online purchase in the recent year, you should have one on hand.) A travelling supply kit would be incomplete without a self retracting safety knife. However, here are other domestic applications you may not have considered:
- Clamshell container.
Everyone who shops has experienced the difficulty of attempting to open some of today's "safety" packaging. Pliers, scissors, and kitchen knives are all used to extract the light bulb from the plastic packaging, frequently with unpleasant results. Why not carry a knife intended to "break the casing" fast and painlessly?
- Food storage bags
We all have to deal with food packaging, from the thick plastic wrap that encloses six-packs of bottled water to the tortilla-chip bag that you can't open without sending flying chips everywhere. Safety knives make things simpler in the kitchen. They are intended to open it without spilling it.
-Bags of fertiliser
These gardeners' favourites are difficult to open, and for good reason: you don't want that stuff on your hardware store floor. You'll never have to worry about it if you have one in your home tool belt or gardening gear.
- Bags for pet food.
With a safety knife, those difficult, large bags will be much easier to carry. Rather than ripping them apart and allowing your pet to sneak a bite in between meals, a safety knife will create a lovely, thin, clean cut. If only it could assist you transport your groceries from the grocery to your car!
Tumblr media
- Gift wrapping
Every family has at least one: the aunt or uncle who wraps things so tightly (for long-distance travel or the mail, or simply out of perversity) that no one can open them. They'll make Christmas morning a lot less stressful.
- Do-it-yourself furniture packing From the stapled-together boxes to the plastic straps that hold the boards in place, your new bookshelf will be as difficult to get out of the box as it will be to construct. They can significantly reduce the amount of time required for rapid assembly.
- Yarn and knitting Sewing scissors don't last forever. If you're a dedicated knitter, why not save your hand muscles the pain by purchasing a safety knife?
- Microsoft Windows. Considering purchasing new windows? Make sure you have one to assist you in getting them out of the covering.
- Clothing labels
- A fishing line.
- Planting flowers.
- Flower stores
You get the picture!
Gardeners, shoppers, handymen and handywomen, pet owners, eBayers, and others should all keep a safety knife (or three) on hand.
They're ideal for the tool shed, garage, kitchen, or home office, as well as your gardening supplies or knitting bag.
safest utility knives available, are distributed by MARTOR Australia. The permanently protected cutting blades in Australia completely minimises the danger of industrial accidents, while the permanently shielded blade preserves packed items. The Department of Homeland Security has authorised it for safe air transit.

Thomas Hellmann On Entrepreneurship Books And Finance Books
This Finance book is quite short; however, it gives very concrete suggestions about the best way to change your funds having a couple of simple adjustments. It shows the significance of saving and just how compound interest and investing can result in a wealthy existence.
It’s not necessary to see a large number of personal finance books, if you wish to get smarter regarding your money. Actually, that may be also harmful to your financial health. One thing people get crushed by is complexity, states Bruce Sellery, who just ends up having written our favorite money books ever. As far as he’s concerned, no matter which financial vision you reside by simply you have one.
No matter how you walk-in, or you have a detour on the way, just as long as you retain placing one feet while watching other. In addition, if you want metaphors like individuals, you realize which book to choose.
Mr. Rosling had little truck with individuals who would deny the advantages of industrialization (including automatic washers) to individuals residing in poor countries. However, his great gift ended up being to deliver his data with clearness and ease of truthfulness is not even close to dry financial aspects textbook understandably. That helped me turn my thoughts, for an additional farewell blog, with other books on finance and financial aspects, which were both readable and insightful.
Below is definitely an eclectic list, in alphabetic order by author surname. I compiled a summary of books on her to see whenever she felt enjoy it. Despite the fact that she isn't as thinking about the topic as me, it's certainly made her more conscious of things I am doing, she or he is more, and more focused by herself finances too.
I would also like to point you to this amazing Finance Books list about investing and trading that I found.  IT provides the best finance book reviews and allows you to easily order these books on Amazon.
Despite the fact that I've been studying about money, finance, and investing since I made my first couple of dollars like a teen, Irrrve never produced an economic plan. He applies this philosophy at his firm, where employees receive baseball cards that highlight both their weaknesses and strengths. This method he believes results in more significant relationships and work.
Around the switch side, how you can Retire Happy, Wild, and Free: Retirement Knowledge That You Simply Won’t Receive from Your Financial Consultant isn’t just as much about taming your money when preparing for retirement because it is about retiring well on which you've were able to save. People you will possibly not otherwise suspect, who operate in normal (achievable professions) but who have accumulated huge savings and investments and also have achieved financial independence.
Each one of the books offers some real understanding of personal finance and investing. Perhaps the very best factor are going to enhance our finances would be to never stop learning. Studying great books about money allows us to develop new strategies, invest more wisely, as well as make the entire process of managing our money rather less painful.
I got myself the savvy women money book about 14 years back around Australia and it is a magazine I get each year and re-read. It’s a beginners book nevertheless its lighthearted and extremely discusses how modern women can take full advantage of the cash they've through not wasting money, investments, along with other ways to make money.
It's Australian so has things that may not apply to New Zealand. Although this book isn’t about personal finance particularly, it offers a fantastic consider among the finest financial minds running a business today. Alice’s book provides an unparalleled view into Warrens early existence, and just how a few of the basics of cash and private finance have offered to create him among the wealthiest individuals in the world.
This short article or publisher contains references to services or products from a number of our advertisers or partners. We might receive compensation whenever you click links to individual’s services or products. When I first look at this book after I was 12 years of age. Seriously. It had been on my small parent’s bookshelf and initially when I first started dreaming about being a uniform millennial. You might express it began my passion for money and private finance. I was amazed to understand that many millionaires would be the people who you do not expect they are more inclined to reside in modest houses and drive old cars. Why they are millionaires is they saved, invested, and live below their means.
This book analyzes habits of millionaires so that you can learn to build them as well. This book trained us a lot and that I lately re-see clearly again almost twenty years later and it had been much better than I appreciated. It provides extensive practical tips that you could begin using immediately and can impact all of your existence.
While America Aged illuminates the scope from the problem were facing, and warns the worst is yet in the future. Using the narrative flair and talent for decoding financial ambiguities that readers have started to depend on, Lowenstein brilliantly chronicles three fascinating pension cases: the collapse from the over-obligated Vehicle, the pension strike that stopped New You are able to a city’s subways and effectively shut lower the town, and also the scandalous bankrupting from the affluent corner of Los Angeles, the town of North Park.
Not just compelling historic sagas wealthy with detail and unforgettable figures, each story also functions being an object lesson. Lowenstein warns these pension wars are just the start of the retirement and healthcare crisis we'll face when we don't find methods to address this latest moral hazard. Governments and corporations across the nation used pensions like an apparently good way to curry favor with unions (easy since the expense could be deferred until a later generation).
However, with cumulative retirement deficits approaching $1 trillion, your day of reckoning has showed up. Shaun Rose is really a Certified Financial Planner and Army combat veteran. He founded the web site Good Financial Cents, and it is the writer of the greatest-selling book, Soldier of Finance.
In the book, Shaun uses the idea of Fundamental Training just to walk readers through understanding personal finance topics, large and small. The writer confirms that the average investor may become a professional in the own field by obtaining winning stocks effectively. All they have to do is take serious notice from the existing market, locate a potentially effective company, and carry the chance before professional grabs it. Simple to follow directions are pointed out within this captioned book. There has been hundreds, otherwise thousands, of books discussed investing through the years.
Many are great, while some are very well not too great, to place it kindly. Many good books are out there! I'd add some Wealthy Barber and i'll Educate You to definitely be Wealthy for PF, and Financial aspects in a single Lesson like a primer to being familiar with chance costs and lots of common economic fallacies.

Times Like These… With Artist, Rone
Times Like These… With Artist, Rone
Times Like These
by Sally Tabart

Melbourne-based artist (and TDF’s across-the-road Collingwood neighbour) Tyrone Wright (aka Rone) is no stranger to working on large-scale projects and events that attract thousands of visitors. This time last year, he was just wrapping up the epic RONE Empire large-scale immersive installation, and right now he was supposed to be preparing to open his retrospective exhibition at Geelong Gallery. For any artist, income and output can be a rollercoaster at the best of times. And for those whose work is largely events-based, everything remains in limbo. Although Rone’s exhibition has been pushed back until February 2020 (fingers crossed), the rest of his long-term work is impossible to plan right now.
We spoke with Rone moments after Scott Morrison’s address on Friday, about the challenges for artists right now, what it’s like to be parenting through isolation, and his surprising new venture to come out of this time!
How are you, what are you doing right now?
I’m still painting, I’m literally painting now, but everything long term has gone into limbo. I can still make a living, but bigger projects are a lot more difficult to discuss at the moment.
I know you had some big projects, like your retrospective at Geelong Gallery, lined up this year. What’s happening with that?
I was meant to be bumping in at Geelong Gallery right now, and we’ve had to push that back until Feb next year. Although after hearing the news just now it does sound promising that that’s not going to be a problem.
I’ve been able to paint some canvas commissions and do some small stuff around the studio that I’ve been meaning to do since we’ve been in here. Finally now I have the time to unpack all those boxes, build a bookshelf, all those things where I was like, ‘I’m gonna do that’, but probably never would have!
So you already had everything for the Geelong Gallery show ready to go?
We’re still building it offsite in a big warehouse, but because everything got delayed I stopped pushing on it, because I had 2-3 people working on it with me. Once we all got the message to stay away from everyone else I kind of told everyone to work on other stuff right now, we shouldn’t be pushing it because it’s not an essential thing. It’s been nice to be able to sit back and think about it a bit more.
The plan’s pretty set for it but I do think it’s going to be better than it would have been. Now that it’s come to the point of actually doing it I’m kind of glad I’ve got this extra time, so I can refine it a bit better, instead of rushing it.
What are you hearing from the art community more broadly, what are the biggest challenges people are facing?
I think there’s just so much confusion for people about how to get any government funding. As artists we are often self-employed – some of us are set up as companies and some of us are set up as sole traders, and it’s just quite messy. To prove that you’ve had a loss of income when a quarter from last year might have been where I had an exhibition and made quite a bit of money in that one time, it’s weird to compare it because then there might be 6 months of nothing after that. It’s really hard for an artist to compare things like that. For anyone in the arts industry it’s a rollercoaster quite often.
I’ve switched from focusing on long term projects, to focusing on short term projects, like – what’s something I can do it 2-3 days, rather than in 6 months? I can really only see a week ahead of certainty.
So how have you been spending this time?
When it all kicked off I had this conversation with my wife Alice, and Hannah who works with me and we were just like, you know, what we could do… we could make jigsaw puzzles. Hannah found two suppliers in Melbourne that could do it and then a week later had them all set up to go. We needed to sell about 20 to get the minimum order and we’ve sold close to 1000 now! So… now I make puzzles! But it does present a world of other problems now because the lovely lady who has been making them can get out about 10 a day. It’s been great for her, she’s been able to employ a bunch of her friends, not just for ours but a lot of people have been requesting custom puzzles at this time. So her business has exploded! But to fulfil the puzzles on her schedule will take 7-8 weeks, so I’ve had to find an offshore manufacturer. And I’m literally waiting for 500 puzzles to arrive any moment.
If someone had told you a few months ago you would be waiting on an imperative order of 500 puzzles…
It’s so funny. So things have turned in that sense! I’m seeing on Instagram people are having a really good time with them though.
So people are buying your puzzles to stay sane and do something, what have you been doing?
I’ve still been busy. I’ve been helping out my studio mate Callum Preston with a job that he’s had lined up on a construction site which is still operating, and I was the only person he knew who had the work safe tickets to go on-site and work at heights. I went and helped him do that this week and last, we’re on a roof by ourselves and don’t really see anyone else, it’s way up above everything. I’m painting for him doing a very simple design, it’s been a nice little break in a sense. I’ve painted around 2000 little squares and triangles.
What’s it been like being a parent of a small child during this time?
For the first few weeks, we just avoided walking past playgrounds and parks but he kind of cottoned onto it and wanted to go. He’s old enough to understand and negotiate with now, we told him the playgrounds are closed and he understands it. He’s stopped asking for it now but we’ve had to do other things to tire him out! He’s got a little tricycle and we kind of just ride him around the streets. We’ve bought quite a few puzzles that he likes doing, ironically.
Is there anything you’ve taken from this time you want to hold onto as things ease back into ‘normal’?
I don’t know if there’s anything I want to hold onto from this. I’m looking forward to getting back to the way it was. The excitement of going to see all my friends again – hanging out, having a drink in real time, face to face. We’ve been Zooming but it’s never the same.
There has been a lot of FaceTiming with my parents, I feel like I’m calling them a lot more often. Now because we’ve been talking so often before dinner my son will go, ‘Facetime Pop!’ He’ll ask for it, which is really nice.
What are you feeling optimistic about?
I look at New Zealand and I’m absolutely amazed about how well they have done, and I’m a lot more optimistic about Australia’s future than I was at the start of this thing. It’s almost like we’ve done a Stephen Bradbury and somehow come out in front, not that we’re totally out of it yet. I’ve been feeling quite optimistic about our outcome getting out of all this.
Look out for Rone’s Retrospective exhibition at Geelong Gallery in February 2021 (it’s gonna be epic!). His first book ‘Rone: Street Art and Beyond’ published by Hardie Grant will be available in July this year.

Ten more hidden spaces in Melbourne
In a city famous for its nooks and crannies, our recent blog about Melbournes coolest hidey-holes was never going to be enough. Heres part two, from a secret pinball parlour behind a bookshelf to an underground cheese cellar. The bar behind a bookshelf Imagine yourself in a kooky mystery novel at Island Somewhere bar. In-the-know patrons give one of the bookshelves a push to reveal a secret passage, leading up a winding staircase to Pinball Paradise. Australias first dedicated pinball bar, it offers fancy drinks and 17 machines, old and new.

Pinball Paradise The tiny library in Melbourne Central A busy hub of shops, eateries, bars, a cinema and major train station, Melbourne Central surprises with The Little Library. Quietly tucked away on the second level, this haven encourages visitors to take a book and leave a book.

The Little Library at Melbourne Central The artist-run space on King Street King Street is better known for its notorious nightlife than art, but Kings Artist Run Initiative is part of its recent evolution. Established in 2003, this artist-run space invites creatives of all kinds to form and present projects that push the envelope. From art exhibitions to film screenings and talks, its a hive of activity. Loch and Key Known these days as Captain Melville, Melbournes oldest bar harbours a few secrets, none more enticing than Loch & Key. Also lurking past a bookshelf and up somerickety stairs, this upstairs bar is a cosy warren of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Loch & Key The swamp room behind Bar Ampere Another surprise bar is the Swamp Room, where bayou decor and American tipples transport downtown Melbourne punters to the Deep South. Formerly reserved for private events, Bar Amperes mysterious back room complete with fairy lights, and a bar made from a vintage piano is revealed to all for late-week chillin. The Nicholas Buildings treasure trove of ephemera The Nicholas Building is integral to Melbournes reputation for hidden spaces filled with unexpected delights. Its home to lots of eclectic little studios and small businesses, including Harold & Maude. Victoriana meets Victorian Gothic in this unique boutique of found objects and recycled materials remade and renewed. You wont find them on social media so visiting in person is the only option.

The underground cheese cellar at Spring Street Grocer Carltons hidden coffee roaster In a hidden alley behind a petrol station, Vertue Coffee Roasters used to have a name even more obscure than its location. Inspired by a handbill promoting Londons first coffee house, which opened in 1652, it began as The Vertue Of The Coffee Drink. A micro roaster, cafe, kitchen and retailer, they take their coffee very seriously.

The hidden laneway entrance to Vertue Coffee Roasters The car park from Mad Max A couple of blocks away at the University of Melbourne, explore the carpark hidden under the vast South Lawn. Built in the early 1970s, its network of pillars is like an orderly forest of giant concrete mushrooms. An amazing architectural feat, this totally Instagrammable space was a location for the original Mad Max movie.

Look familiar? This car park is featured in a scene from Mad Max. Image: @onedeuxpunch via Flickr The laneway thats getting a green makover Guildford Lane is one of Melbournes lesser known laneways but one of its most intriguing. This rare example of the CBDs industrial heritage, hidden away at the northern end of the city, is not what it used to be. In a good way, because a recentGreen your Lanewaymakeover introduced potted plants and a man-versus-nature Mike Makatron mural. Cafes have been popping up too. LikeKrimper, whose vintage-industrial design is thanks to the spaces history as a sawmill, then a cabinet-making factory. AndCat Cafe Melbourne, which would really make the lanes former blue-collar workers scratch their heads! Discover more in ourlaneway lovers guide to Guildford Lane.
