MLQC Boys With A Famous S/o
Here we go! Thank you anon for this request I hope its to your liking!! Apologies for typos as always!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kiro (YouTuber S/o)
How did you meet ?
You were a YouTuber that had over 500,000 subscribers. During a Mukbang Q&A video you received a question in regards to your celebrity crush.
“I think the big ass poster currently behind me kind of gives it away, but my ultimate crush is Kiro. I’d give anything to meet him at least once.” You went even as far as to give him a shout out. “Hey, super star! I heard you were a big foodie and since you like to eat and I like to eat, maybe we can eat together sometime? Okay, that was dumb, please ignore this!”
Little did you know, Kiro was a huge fan of your videos and just so happened to see your request. Next thing you knew a clip of you “shooting your shot” made its way to his social media page with a caption of “Its a date ;)” right above it. You just about died when you saw his post. You were only joking around! Well...not 100% joking, but you didn’t expect him to respond!
You spent weeks talking to each other through private messages soon after. Your messages filled with gushing over your similar interests, playful banters and light flirting. He offered to be a part of your next Mukbang stating that it was better to have two people eating themselves into a coma on camera than one. You couldn’t argue with facts and took him up on his offer! Kiro only had one condition...you let him take you out on a date afterwards.
And the rest was history.
Dating
The cutest couple to have ever existed!
Both of your social media pages are filled with couple photos.
You both get to dress up in disguise whenever you go on dates! A baseball cap, sunglasses, and face masks are your usual go to’s, but depending on where you’re going you might be required to get a little creative.
Dealing with overly excited fans and even more persistent paparazzi was a bit new for you, since your interactions with people is mostly through the internet, but you handle it pretty well.
Interviewers practically threw themselves onto every opportunity to get information about your love life. Kiro was more skilled than you about these things, so you tend to just laugh awkwardly and let him take care of it.
Kiro appears a little more in your videos whenever he’s free which the fans are grateful for. Of course, your channel doesn’t turn into all things Kiro and you never use him for your own personal gain.
Dating Kiro did open up some opportunities for you, like getting to experience award shows and networking with other celebrities and content creators. Again, you refused to throw Kiro’s name around just to get the things you wanted.
You both like to bounce ideas off of each other, whether its for his music or for your latest video. Having two creative minds come together does wonders!
You’re almost always somewhere in the background during his live streams.
Gavin (Actress S/o)
How did you meet?
High school. You were a part of the drama club and Gavin was...well...forced into being a part of the stagehand after being threatened with expulsion from his last brawl.
You were the first one to welcome him. You were kind, funny, and cute. And when you were on that stage? Mesmerizing was the best way to put how Gavin saw you. You were inspiring.
After graduation Gavin lost contact with most of his acquaintances, but he never once stopped thinking about you. Gavin wasn’t big on celebrity news, but he actually kept up with your progress once he got wind of a newcomer taking the entertainment world by storm.
Fast forward to a few years later and he was playing bodyguard for one of the most successful actresses in the world. You. This was just an undercover job that was going to last as long as his target was still out there.
There was definitely chemistry between you. And while Gavin wanted to act on his feelings, his work had to come first. You respected that, but that didn’t mean you weren’t going to let him know you were interested. How could you not be? You had a huge crush on him back in high school and now that he was by your side practically every day those feelings came back with a vengeance!
As soon as Gavin’s objective was complete he continues being your bodyguard stating, “Only I can keep you out of trouble.” Which you responded by kissing him.
Dating
Once word got out about you dating your “bodyguard”, it shocked many that you decided to be with someone that wasn’t a celebrity.
Even so, Gavin doesn’t look like your average Joe. He has the body and face of man who could easily be on the cover of Vogue or Vanity Fair, but you know your man isn’t about that life.
You’ve spent years being a private person, so when you and Gavin start dating not revealing much was easy. The public only knew what you wanted them to.
There are a lot of at home dates filled with takeout and movie night. Just being in each others company is more than enough for you!
You work out together a lot! He’s really good about motivating you especially when you have to prepare for an upcoming movie. You honestly don’t need a personal trainer when you have Gavin.
The paparazzi are afraid of Gavin. Like they won’t even get within six feet of you whenever he’s around. The last poor soul who got a little too close for your liking ate asphalt within seconds.
Gavin isn’t one for the limelight or the glitz and glam, which you appreciate. Its nice to be around someone that isn’t a part of the entertainment world.
You don’t have to hide a part of yourself, in fear of judgement, whenever you were with him. You appreciated Gavin’s genuine nature. He was always truthful with you and he never gave the impression that he was only with you because of your status.
Gavin does a great job with making you feel special. Whenever you feel like you don’t meet the standards of what the industry wants, he pulls you out of that dark hole and gives you the pep talk you need to get through the day.
You could walk around without an ounce of makeup on or trade in a Dior dress for sweatpants and a t-shirt, and Gavin still found you beautiful.
Victor ( Famous Pianist S/o)
How did you meet?
Victor was a fan of your work for quite some time. There was something about your raw talent that drew him to your work. He always made it a point to go to all your live shows whenever he was available, but has never met you personally.
It wasn’t until you waltzed right into his office out of the blue. When he saw you enter his office with Goldman and two security guards tailing right behind you, he didn’t even recognize you. You looked as if you had just rolled out of bed with a messy bun, ripped jeans, t-shirt with some random cartoon character and thick rimmed glasses. His first thought as you stared him down with a frown was, “Who let this homeless person into his office?”
When Goldman called your name as the two security guards grabbed your arms, Victor had to do a double take. The elegant and graceful woman, who commanded the stage with just pads of her fingertips, was...YOU?!
Victor allowed you to stay, curious to know why you were here. You business with Victor was simple. You wanted funding to create music schools for low income families. You had sent countless emails to LFG with hopes to do business with them, but after being ignored the first few times and receiving a rude rejection email that morning, you were ready to take the bull by the horns.
Surprisingly Victor found himself intrigued by you and thus started an interesting partnership.
The more Victor got to work with you the more he became attracted to the headstrong, smart, and talented person who seemingly enjoyed ruffling his feathers every chance they got.
You were also attracted to the blunt, detail-oriented man and it bothered you to no-end. What you saw in a man who probably would critique drawings from a toddler, you had no idea. But you appreciated his work ethic. He genuinely wanted you to succeed with this project and you couldn’t deny his heart was in the right place.
The day the first school opened was the day Victor decided to stop tiptoeing around the mutual attraction and asked you out.
“We can celebrate your accomplishments over dinner.”
Dating
The CEO of LFG and the child prodigy turned world famous pianist dating?!
CAN WE SAY POWER COUPLE?!
Whenever paparazzi get a picture of the two of you, you both look as if you just finished a professional photoshoot. You NEVER look bad in those photos. Never!
And when you do professional shoots? It leaves people SHOOK. Magazines like Forbes have never had such a beautiful couple grace their covers before. Just wait until people see your wedding photos.
You always ask him to visit you during your rehearsals which he almost always declines but shows up anyway, if he’s not too busy. He’ll also bring a box of his homemade pudding because knowing you, you probably were too busy with preparations for your upcoming concert to eat. He’ll take you out to eat afterwards, but the pudding should hold you over for a bit.
Victor will never admit this to you, but your music helps him de-stress after a long day at work, so whenever he isn’t with you, your music helps him fall asleep.
Victor also likes to watch you work. Seeing you so focused as you create your next piece was a sight to beheld. The pensive look in your eyes as you went over your music sheet, the slow nod of your head as your fingers danced across the keys as you intently listened to the melody, and the way your eyebrow twitched when you hit a key you didn’t like; all things oddly enjoyed seeing.
You’ll never catch him staring. He’ll pretend he’s working whenever you feel his eyes on you and if you try to call him out on it, he will most likely deny it.
Lucien ( Novelist S/o)
How did you meet?
You needed the help of someone knowledgeable with neuroscience for your next book. Someone recommended a Professor at Loveland University who specialized on the topic. That was how you met Professor Lucien.
You two worked closely together once you started your manuscript, going over various topics under the neuroscience category. It wasn’t surprising just how intelligent the man was on the subject, but you were in awe about how much you knew.
Your meetings would often start at the university which led to you going home together once you found out he lived in the same building as you. You leveled up from the lecture hall to aquariums, movie theaters, restaurants, and his apartment where you had lunch or dinner.
Your conversations never stayed on the topic of work. It often changed to your interests. You found that you and Lucien had a lot of similar interests like your taste in books and art. He also developed a love for teasing you.
Seeing the look on your flustered face turned into one of his favorite pastimes.
When it came to the topic of your books, you learned Lucien has read quite a few of them and was very intrigued with your work. He asked you numerous questions, questions no one thought to ask.
He admitted to you his favorite of yours was the first book he ever read titled, “The Boy Who Dreamed.” You jokingly offered to sign his book, but he declined with a smile.
“I’ll admit I do enjoy the book, but I’m more interested in the woman who wrote it.”
Dating
More dates at your favorite places.
Almost every other week, Lucien seemed to have tickets to art exhibits, festivals, or the movies.
His teasing intensifies by a hundred! That man loves to tease you and you hate it! You love it.
The closer you got to Lucien, the more you realized he didn’t enjoy talking about himself, so it takes a while to learn about him or his past. You never press him for information, but he does reveal things to you within time.
Lucien loves when you read to him. Its how he falls asleep and once you find out he has trouble sleeping, you always suggest what you call “story time.”
In truth, having you by his side is more than enough to get him to sleep, but if you aren’t there hearing your voice will do the trick. You could be reading anything and he’d be fine with it. From Dr. Seuss to H.G. Wells, Lucien was fine with it as long as he got hear your voice.
You like to ask for his opinion on your latest projects. He does a great job making you think outside of the box which will make things easier or challenging during your writing sessions.
Whenever you encounter writer’s block, Lucien will pull you away from your laptop and mountains of papers to enjoy a nice relaxing day with him.

Hello, I'm your Tolkien Secret Santa! I'm so excited to begin working on your gift, I'm already debating between several ideas.
I just wanted to ask if you had anything specific in mind that you'd like to see included? And if you had any headcanons about Doriath as a place! Culture, terrain, magic, anything that makes it a setting /you/ recognize. If not, don't worry about it! But I thought I'd ask!
So eager to get started, thank you for your time!
Hello! Sorry this took a while to answer, I had to type up everything (apologies in advance for how much stuff I've written lol, I've just dumped a whole bunch of headcanons in here. I hope you find some of it useful!) and link stuff and also hack into my drawing tablet that I'd forgotten the password to and hadn't used in a year :P
Also, absolutely don't feel obligated to use everything I've put here, I really like seeing other people's takes on my Best Fam, and a whole bunch of my headcanons for Doriath are actually pretty loose, so if anything doesn't vibe with you, feel free to toss it!
Putting everything under the cut for the sake of the Dash
I don't remember exactly what I put on my sign-up, (I'm pretty sure I mentioned the Nolofinweans too? Whoops this is Not about them, hmu if you want a huge ramble about the Lesser Hellspawn too lol) but I think I forgot to mention that while I put "no ships" I'm fine with canon ships so long as the romance isn't the center focus (Esp. if you want to do family fluff with Beren, Luthien, & Dior) I'm not squicked by romance at all, but I don't know what your position on ships is, so if you don't want to please don't feel obligated! I'm also pretty sure that I forgot to mention a DNW of mine- I see Daeron as Luthien's younger brother and nothing else, which is one of the few headcanons I refuse to budge on.
For specific stuff I'd like: I really like good wholesome family fluff, and I'm really weak for the idea that related by blood or not you still should choose your family. I've got a whole Thing about Daeron and Luthien choosing to be siblings, Daeron choosing to be there for Dior, Beren choosing Finrod, Huan choosing Beren and Luthien, Luthien choosing Beren and mortality, etc. Choices make me soft.
Related: my opinions on Melian and Thingol are... not great. I'm working on a headcanon post/fic about it rn, but didn't want to slow this down any more, so to sum up: I think they did what they thought was best, and genuinely love their children, but legitimately do not understand what they want/need- Thingol is overprotective, Melian Doesn't Get incarnates. Post Silm quest they improve and get more accepting, though they still don't really understand, but the relationship between them and their kids is never very close.
(I've also got a very specific weak spot for Beren and Luthien's could've- would've- should've been friendship with Finrod and the gang. Another headcanon I refuse to budge on is that Beren hung out with Finrod and co when he was stuck in Mandos, and Luthien got to properly meet them all. But that's super specific and requires a Lot of ocs, so please don't do it unless it really inspires you lol.)
Here are some posts on my vision of the characters + dynamics, specifically: Daeron as Luthien's brother, Beren ROCKS, How I write Eldritch Luthien (+ Melian's Domain), Name headcanons!, there beneath the willow tree (fic- Daeron is Best Uncle), and I don't know if you want/need visuals but Melian, Daeron, Luthien (+doodle dump) (+her, Beren, and Huan)- also literally all the Luthien art by Kokiri85 (here's a specific one) and by @carlandrea
I do have a picture of Doriath, I did it in 30 min for art class last year, so it's not amazing but it's a good enough jumping off point: a dead part of Doriath, as seen through Melian's Girdle (the purple grid).
Tumblr media
I see Doriath vaguely as having two general "types" of forest: "Normal" (pretty enchanted forest, nightingales are a little sus, some things glow, par for the magical course), and the Deep Woods (where stuff gets Weird, proper Eldritch Faerie-Land, you will not be coming out of here without a guide and/or Melian taking pity). In a few very small areas the Deep Woods turn to Dark Woods (Definitely cursed, probably give you magic radiation poisoning, everything is Undead and Immortal, High concentration of Melian's magic, usually either places she frequent(s/ed) or near the border that need more defense (Nan Elmoth was a result of this)) I have two fics about this: A Cruel Forest and This is a Forest, which both either state or imply that Doriath itself is debatably sentient as a result of Melian's magic
For terrain, I went to Alaska last summer and now it's basically the ideal Beleriand in my mind. Doriath has a milder climate- it's essentially the platonic ideal of a mostly deciduous forest, the St Croix River Valley in Minnesota is a good approximation, though obviously it's a river valley, while Doriath is not. Any really pretty forests work, honestly. There's wildflowers everywhere, and fruit trees (probably enchanted), and conveniently placed (literally) creeks and streams. It's also very magically circuitous- you might walk in a perfectly straight line and end up where you started, or going left might lead the same way as going right will.
Culture! This is... harder. I'm focusing on Menegroth here, but I have more of a general vibe I'm going for, rather than this being hard-and-fast. I see typical clothing as being fairly typical medieval fantasy fare- though a little heavier on the medieval, with some Chinese hanfu influence- the hair also, though with more braids, when convenient it's designed to show off as much length as possible (Luthien always wears hers down, which ususally signifies someone wild/who doesn't care much about appearance. She, Melian, and Daeron also never wear shoes). Lots of flowers, either fake or real (fresh or dried). Furs are worn in the winter, but it's seen as sketchy to wear the fur of a predator you/ your family didn't hunt, so while a hunter's family might have wolf-coats, a noble probably wouldn't. On the subject of hunting, songbirds are basically sacred, given Melian, so you don't hunt one without necessity.
(This headcanon is tiny and not very well formed but there's absolutely a secret cult dedicated to Melian, and while people might say that it's bad form, inwardly everyone has probably prayed to her once or twice because if there's an angel who has demonstrably protected you from satan, you want to keep that angel.)
Lots of really pretty fabric designs and embroidery based on the nature in Doriath (the less Spooky parts, at least), symmetry isn't really big, but the Golden Ratio (Fibonacci sequence) and fractals are. Usually there isn't a consistent pattern as the main focus. I've arbitrarily decided that they have a good way of making purple dye. Generally bright, cooler colors are preferred, to match the forest, but the goal is more "flowers" and less "mossy stone". They're very good at making camouflages for the guards and hunters, though, like the cloaks in Lothlorian.
Metal work is eh to them. Useful, but as a whole they aren't super into it. Especially after the Noldor (who love it) show up and get on the Iathrim's bad side. They like it in small doses, and heavily prefer silver to gold. On a related note- piercings are nearly nonexistent, except for on the really old elves who remember Cuivienen and/or the Great Journey, or some Laiquendi who live near the border.
They're all really into the Arts, Menegroth is covered in flowy half-abstract carvings and knotwork (influence of the dwarves), mosaics are really popular since they're more sturdy than paintings. Tapestries help keep the stone of the caves warmer. Song and dance is huge- performances happen constantly, available to anyone. I imagine it varies from more traditional songs of epic poetry performed by one person, to massive choirs. I'm not very knowledgeable about dance, but I think they've got something like ballet with a "greek" chorus backing it. Their plays are probably a lot like ancient greek ones structurally, too. Speech and song is very important, since speech is literally how they distinguish themselves as sentient, and music created the universe. In general, improvisation is valued, but there's a very specific structure to it. So it looks free and natural, but actually it's very rigid. (Symbolism for the rest of their culture? Yes.)
Menegroth itself looks like it was perfectly grown as-is, with sculpture and carvings added to it. It also doesn't really feel like it's underground- there are massive sections without a roof that act as skylights, and a whole bunch of layers. Natural light and air is definitely a priority. Lots of entrances and exits, since it's so big. It's not very defensible, except for that the layout is utterly nonsensical to anyone unfamiliar, and the enchanted forest + forcefield around it.
My opinions on Elvish magic are honestly worth a post unto itself, so to sum up: most of the stuff we would consider magic they don't. It's a type of art- to seemingly break natural laws and turn wool into shifting camouflage, or to gather starlight in stone, and it's based in the Song. What they call magic is very elemental- the three broad categories are water, air, and fire, which then break down/combine into smaller categories (ie. ice/weather/wind/light/temp./earth) it's very difficult, and very rare for Sindar to learn (seen as slightly heretical- like attempting to imitate the Ainur)
Maiarin magic is a whole 'nother beast. It kind of seeps into the area based on power, proximity, and time. Basically, it's magic radiation, only less overtly deadly (although that depends on the Maia in question. Osse's probably causes a whole bunch of storms and Bermuda Triangle-esque phenomena which. Not exactly safe.) Lots of incomprehensible Eldritch stuff, and heavily Domain-based. Their magic is seen similar to how humans see elvish magic ("That's totally magic!" "No it's not? It's just another ability.") and, once again, is entirely Song based- even more than elvish magic since it was the Ainur who Sang Arda into being in the first place.
Phew ok that about wraps it up! Thanks for asking about all this, I take every possible opportunity to infodump. And thank you so much in advance! I'm really excited to see what you make!

Hey there! Aspiring fashion designer here! I'm getting more and more into fashion and designing/ planning more and more outfits and I was wondering if you have any tips to get more into haute contour and fashion in general. Your blog has really helped me get a grasp of what I like and I all around love it!
I’m happy this blog could help in figuring out what styles you like! There are a ton of different mediums to get into fashion! I’ve compiled a list of options via videos, websites, and books. So strap in, this is a long post.
Since you already have an idea of who you like, I always suggest reading up on that brand/label/designer and going through their archives. For me, when I realized how much I loved Dior and knew I wanted to learn more, it was overwhelming at times because the label has such a long history. If you really like newer labels, like Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab, Iris van Herpen, etc., it’s a little more manageable to read up on the history and designers just because they were founded in the ‘90s/‘00s.
In terms of websites, I have a few to talk about.
Vogue. This is the easiest avenue to get into fashion. I’m not knocking it, because I use it the most for photos, but as far as websites go, it’s the most dumbed-down. But I mean that in the best way! The features, trend reports, and runway news appeals to even the most casual fashion fan. Vogue focuses mainly on big name/commercialized brands (Dior, Valentino, Gucci, etc.) rather than smaller ones (like Guo Pei and Ralph & Russo, two big couture names these days, get minimal coverage with Vogue). Vogue is a great resource for runway looks...it was my gateway into studying older runway collections. All in all, in terms of websites, Vogue is the tip of the fashion media iceberg.  If you want to get into the more meatier parts of fashion, there are better sites.
Harper’s Bazaar. Like Vogue, it’s easy to navigate and leans more towards the more well-known fashion brands. Pre-covid, they always had a weekly street style recap as well. They have great lists but stay away from the business side of fashion. I typically use Harper’s Bazaar for the street style/every day fashion inspiration and news.
Who What Wear. A great site for following trends. They don’t focus so much on brands, but it’s a great resource for seeing what’s trending and options to buy said trends. For example, Who What Wear is the first place I went when I wanted to find a list of brands who were starting to sell masks.
WWD. Supposedly most designers prefer WWD to Vogue coverage.  And it shows, since parts of the site require a subscription. WWD is one of the more technical sites and could be overwhelming for someone who doesn’t really understand the industry. They talk about the comings-and-goings of creative directors, financial news, and general fashion trends/news. It also has runway recaps and photos, which is typically what I use it for. If you’re really want to be in the know with breaking fashion news, they do offer email newsletters as well for a more condensed version of the site. Also, a super helpful page I’ve had bookmarked, their fashion dictionary.
Business of Fashion.  The name is pretty self-explanatory.  BoF is another one of those meatier sites that could be overwhelming at first. It’s also one that has a subscription service. BoF has great profiles of designers, so I’ve used the site as my starting point when learning about someone new. The BoF500 also showcases anyone and everyone who has a hand in shaping the industry.
The Impression. The cheapest of the subscription sites and the one I had until I cancelled a few months ago (not because it sucked, but, you know…corona). I mainly used them for their runway pictures. They were so fast to upload them, with details and backstage footage. The big draw is the fashion week/runway photography, but the talk about street style, short films and ads from brands, as well as fashion trends. At the end of every fashion week (New York, Milan, Paris, etc.) the put together a recap list of biggest trends, top shows, top models, and break down the numbers. I love the site for its minimalism and whenever the industry decides to have fashion weeks again, I’ll renew my subscription.
Magazines:  Most people would say Vogue is the holy grail for fashion magazines, but I don’t think it’s that great (at least the US version).  Vogue Paris, Italia, and UK are better in my opinion. And just because I don’t think the print version of US Vogue is the holy grail, doesn’t mean I don’t like it.  I have a subscription and read it every month. Other options I really like are Harper’s Bazaar (any country’s version), Elle, InStyle, and W.
Videos: Other than the first one listed (which can be found on Netflix or Hulu, depending where you live), everything can be found on youtube. And now i’m constantly getting fashion recommendations on youtube, so it’s an easy rabbit hole to fall into.
First Monday in May. I’ve talked about this documentary before, but it bears repeating.  It’s a gorgeous journey of how the Met Gala and Costume Institute Exhibit was put together. It’s about the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ exhibit in 2015. They interview big designers about how China has influenced some of their collections, and takes on the debate of whether fashion should even be in a museum. It was the first fashion documentary I ever watched and only made me fall more in love with fashion (and want to see every fashion exhibition).
The September Issue. Vogue’s September issues are always the biggest of the year.  This documentary follows the process of designing the famous September issue of Vogue. I believe it was filmed in 2007 or 2008 so it’s dated, and digital media has changed the game, but it’s a good watch to see just how influential and important the September issue is in terms of forecasting fashion trends for the following year.
Savoir Faire: Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2011. A 50 minute video on how one, just one, piece from the couture collection was designed.  It’s a great insight on just how much work goes in to creating a couture collection.
7 Days Out with Karl Lagerfeld. Another great showcase of the week leading up to a couture show, this time with Chanel. The documentary follows the 2018 show, which is one of Lagerfeld’s last few couture shows before his death.
Battle At Versailles: The Competition that Shook the Fashion Industry. It’s no secret that Paris is the epicenter of fashion.  The couture houses are all based there, so France is typically where you needed to be to be a world renowned designer. In 1973 French and American designers competed against each other and brought American designers into the spotlight. There’s an hour long documentary on youtube and there’s a book that I’ve linked below. I’ve seen the video and I’m currently reading the book, so you have options here.
Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams. A good look at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs exhibit for the 70th anniversary of Dior. This documentary gives a nice, condensed look at each of the artistic directors of Dior and showcases some of the most iconic Dior looks. I knew about it, but didn’t go see it. I only saw pictures, which were beautiful…but to see it all come together on video was a dream.  They talk to Celine Dion for a minute at the end, and her words sum up my feelings best about Dior, “I would love to wear one of these dresses one day, maybe in one of my lifetimes, or every night in my dreams.”
Books:
Inside Haute Couture: Behinds the Scenes at the Paris Ateliers. A gorgeous book with tons of photos about the intricacies that go in to a couture collection.
Kate Spade New York: All in Good Taste. I originally bought it for my coffee table collection, but it has some great style tips.
The Battle of Versailles: The Night American Fashion Stumbled into the Spotlight and Made History. Just in case you’d rather read about this legendary fashion show than watch. I’m currently reading it, so I can’t give you my final take on it. But I’m loving it so far.
Dior by Dior: Christian Dior’s autobiography. Who better to tell you about the history of Christian Dior, than Dior himself.
Elsa Schiaparelli: A Biography. I’m a big fan of Schiaparelli and would love for her legacy to be more widely known. She was a very private person, so when this biography dropped I was excited to read more about her. Elsa Schiaparelli was Coco Chanel’s biggest rival and was a household name in her time, but most people know Coco’s name over Elsa’s today. This is a nice dive into Schiaparelli’s life, since most people focus on Chanel’s legacy (and let’s be honest, Chanel is very idolized, which is so unfortunate, given her Nazi ties, but I digress.)
Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano. I tend to rave about the designs by these two, so it’s a good look into their journey in fashion.
The Beautiful Fall: Fashion, Genuis, and Glorious Excess in 1970s Paris. If you’re interested in Lagerfeld (pre-Chanel days) or Yves Saint Laurent, it’s a great retrospective look at their rivalry.
Champagne Supernovas. If ‘90s fashion is something of interest, this book is a great read on how some big name rebels (McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss, etc.) in the industry remade fashion as we know it.
Any of the Met Gala books: Camp: Notes on Fashion, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, Manus x Machina, Heavenly Bodies, etc.  My first one was the McQueen book, and at the time I didn’t know it was the official book from the Costume Institute Exhibit.  They’re not all hardcover coffee table-esque books, but if you can’t attend an exhibit it’s the next best thing. They’re all great in-depth resources for learning about a certain area of fashion. They can be expensive, so I wouldn’t suggest investing in them unless you’re truly interested in that specific aspect of the industry. This year’s exhibit - whenever it opens - is About Time: Fashion and Duration.  The exhibition book is already available and I think it’ll be an incredible exhibit of how current designers pull from older designers and trends.
The Fashion Book.  It’s expensive. It’s massive. And it gives you a wealth of information. It’s essentially an encyclopedia for fashion. It’s not just designers; it highlights models, high profile photographers, style icons, and all those who influenced fashion.
I know this was long, but these have been the resources I’ve used over the years. I hope this can help you along your journey and if anyone has other things to add, please do!

Celebrity Stylist- Kate Young
Kate Young is a New York-based stylist.  Her celebrity clients include Margot Robbie, Dakota Johnson, Selena Gomez, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, Sienna Miller, Nina Dobrev, and Sophie Turner. On the commercial side, she has consulted for Armani Exchange, Tod’s, Halston, and Ann Taylor and styled campaigns for Dior, Joie, Guerlain, Carolina Herrera, Theory, CoverGirl, Victoria’s Secret, Pantene, and Olay. Formerly she served as the Fashion Editor at Large for Interview. She’s also styled editorials for i-D, Numéro Japan, Porter, Glamour, and InStyle. Kate frequently collaborates with photographers such as Cass Bird, Steven Meisel, David Sims, and Annie Leibovitz. She works closely with designers on their shows and collections including Jason Wu, Nina Ricci, Derek Lam, and Rosetta Getty.
Today, Kate is one of the most sought after red carpet stylists, having been named “The Most Powerful Stylist” by The Hollywood Reporter three times and “Stylist of the Year” by InStyle.
Young’s styling again is always very chic and feminine I think that is why I like her work so much. Her styling always fits perfectly with the event or backdrop of a shoot. I especially love how she matches colours and tones with the makeup and hair looks to bring it all together very well.
When you were an assistant, you leaned into celebrity styling when no one else wanted to do that kind of work, and it launched your career. What advice would you give to yourself back then — and what should people think if they’re also at a moment in their careers wondering, should I do this? The thing that helped me a lot, and how I ended up here, is that I think I had the idea that things should be difficult, and you should have to work hard at them, [whereas] often the things that I’m best at I find really easy. I don’t have to think a lot about them, I just do it, and it works. I wish I had just known that the thing that was easy for me was celebrity styling. It was much harder for me to do very, very high-end, edgy editorial; that’s not what comes out of me naturally. When I see a runway show that excites me, I don’t come up with an idea for a shoot instantly. What I tend to do is think about how someone can wear it, and who can wear it.
What does a typical morning look like for you? 6 a.m. is the ideal, but if I’m really busy I wake up at 5 and write tons of emails. I save drafts and try not to send them until 7 because I don’t want to wake people up. I do TM [transcendental meditation], and I drink coffee, make the kids breakfast, make their lunches, get dressed, and walk them to school. I either go to pilates at 8 or 9, or go to the office. Depending on pilates I get to the office around 9 or 10:30.
How do you manage your schedule and commit time to people? I tend to look at my calendar for the next day on my phone before I go to sleep at night, so I have in my head what I’m doing. It changes all the time, and my assistant and agent can both manipulate my calendar. I could have one or two meetings, or if I’m [pulling clothes] for a shoot or a fitting I could have ten. I like to exercise in the morning, so if I don’t get to exercise in the morning, then I’m not exercising for the day.
When I’m here I work, and then I leave. I know people who work in other offices, and they seem to get all their work done between 7-10 p.m., and during the day they’re socialising or having all these meetings. I don’t do a lot of that. It’s very unusual that I work after 6 because I like to be home for dinner with my kids and put them to sleep. I much prefer a business lunch to dinner and try not to go out more than twice a week.
In your creative process, when do you get most excited about what you’re working on? In the beginning of it: requesting clothes and doing the fitting. That’s the part I like best, when I’m getting ready for the fitting that will lead to the red carpet — the preparing for it.
Do you have a work uniform? I wear jeans and sweatshirts or navy sweaters and black pants, basically every day. I have fancy clothes and like to get dressed up for events and stuff, but for work it’s one of those two things or a blazer and jeans. I pretty much wear the same thing all the time.
Besides runway shows and photos, where do you get your ideas? When I have any pause at all I try to book a trip. I think getting out of the day-to-day is the healthiest thing that you can do — to see how other people live, just to be somewhere where the light isn’t the same, eat different food, and sleep in different beds. I always have better and weirder dreams when I’m not in my own bed. With my kids too, it’s super-important to me that they see different sides of the world. I just did a road trip from Santa Fe to Marfa, Texas, where my husband has a festival every year, and I went skiing in Tahoe this year.
I take lots of pictures, and I really like to keep files of stuff, like ticket stubs and receipts from restaurants, hotel stationery, and maps. I have a flair for stealing menus and DO NOT DISTURB signs in hotels. I imagine someday in the future when I have more time, I’ll put them into notebooks or something, but for now it’s in envelopes and chronologically stuffed in this box at home in my closet. I open it when I put the next trip’s stuff in.

I found the video and interview above very informative and inspiring. Knowing what a stylist does and their thought processes is really interesting.

Day One (Arrival)
Today was very eye opening, I expected Los Angeles to be all pretty and filled with expensive things. But today I really saw the up and downsides of Los Angeles. I know everywhere has it’s hard areas, but to see the major differences between and how there so close really made me think. People really spend lots of money on non-essential things when people are really out here with little to nothing. -Bascia P.
Seeing Skid row and Rodeo drive all in one day really gave me insight on how close and far rock bottom is from making it big at the top. Both were two extremes one filled with poverty and struggle and the other filled with excessive luxury both separated by a few miles and quite a few thousand dollars. On a lighter note seeing Trump's star absolutely trashed on the walkway was very enjoyable to see. -Essence H.
Today was very much a lesson and a experience. As an experience we got to go to the beach next to the pier and truly bask in California. We also watched an altercation take place within McDonald’s but that’s neither here nor there. As part of the lesson we were shown first hand the highs and lows of California. Doing this by first going to Skid Row and seeing all of the impoverished homeless people as the low, then making our way later on to Rodeo Drive and seeing all of the expensive things. This really opens up the eyes of people who might not realize that right around the corner from the big city and wealth there’s people living on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. -Bobby H.
I really like UCLA and it is so big. They even have a little town in UCLA. I don't like how they have a whole street for homeless people. I really like the beach but there was a lot of people without masks. I went to the Hollywood Walk of Fame with the stars and I saw a lot of famous people. -Jamil B.
Today was a reminder to slow down and appreciate the world and people around me. Sometimes I can be encumbered with stress and I forget how magnificent it is to be alive. Today, those anxieties came crashing down like the waves of the Pacific as I indulged myself in the warm breeze and gentle glow of the sun as it slowly settled beneath the horizon. I'm grateful for today and the people who made it possible for me to enjoy it. - Giovan B.
We began the service learning tour on Skid Row, I am aware of the homeless community in my area but not to this magnitude. The homeless tents are camped along the busy streets of downtown. Then to drive shorty over to ‘Bel Air’ Hollywood. By the way, thank you Kristen for the wonderful tour of UCLA.  We walked down Rodeo Drive to see all the glitz and famous name. The people I encountered today are not only homeless but mentally ill.  There is so much more I can do for the homeless when returning to my community. -Pamela G.
The first day in Los Angeles was interesting and eye opening. Starting off at Skid Road made me appreciate the things that I have and opportunities that I receive. It was also interesting because that’s the part of California that they don’t show on TV and I didn’t expect that many homeless people to be in one area. On tv Los Angeles has the perception of being rich, upperclass, and perfect which is not the case. -Jordan B.
Starting of the day by flying into the well known LAX. As soon as I stepped out the baggage claim I saw the vibrant sky’s of LA filled with palm trees and people. Before coming I thought I would see luxurious communities and places that screamed money, but it was the opposite. Our first official stop was a hidden community of homeless people hidden behind the beauty of downtown. It showcased how even though California is one of the richest states in the U.S it still has one of the highest poverty rates. We then went to UCLA and learned a lot about the transition to college as a minority and some of the programs that UCLA had to support some of its less fortunate students. We wrapped up the day by going to famous landmarks of LA like Rodeo Drive, Santa Monica, and The Hollywood Walk of Fame! -Marcus R.
Today was an eye opening experience. My heart broke for the people we saw on Skid row. I mean, from the tents to the blankets working as insulation and there was even wheel chairs parked outside their campsites. The way they maneuvered, was as if that setting was actually normal. Well, I’m sure to them that is. I did notice, the sense of community though, they looked out for each other. What I gathered from today’s experience, while walking amongst Rodeo drive, the price tag of many of those items, Dior, Goyard or Gucci to name a few could put those on Skid row in a better position. Whether it’s rehab, program for housing, mental health assistance or a simple makeover to boost their self esteem. Ultimately, the “HIGHS” mean Nothing, long as you’re leaving “OTHERS” sitting “LOW”. Thanks a Bunch. -Toquetta C.
Flying into LAX I was super excited. Being it’s my first time to L.A. I’m looking forward to learning a lot. After we left the airport we were able to visit a Los Angeles staple, Randy’s Donut. Along side visiting Randy’s Donuts we were also able to eat at In-N-Out burger which was a much wanted visit for me. As we continued into our day I enjoyed being able to walk Skid Row and see poverty and manipulation of drugs in its purest form. Seeing versus hearing is a huge impact on me because the visual is what makes it stick and in stowed in me that I want to make something out of myself in order to make sure I don’t end up in a situation like that. After going to Skid Row and seeing the beautiful UCLA campus I enjoyed being able to watch the sun set at the Santa Monica Pier. As we ended our day on the Hollywood Walk of Fame I seen some of the amazing Black celebrities stars that have paved the way in the industry of entertainment. Today I can say was a great way to start off my journey in exploring Los Angeles and learning about the state of California and i look forward to learning so much more. -Roderick T.
The first day is always the best. We may be all fighting fatigue-- if not from our travels, then definitely from everything we managed to accomplish. We managed to encompass both polarities of the city, noticing just how close the highly affluent and poorly disadvantaged sit in relation to each other. It's striking to think that one could at one moment be in one of LA's economic epicenters, then only blocks away encounter homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and perhaps many other unfortunate things. For a first day introduction we covered a lot. -Malachi W.
Fully loaded Day 1, I am so glad we started from the poorest areas (Skid road) to some of the richest areas (Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Hollywood). It shows the great in inequality and really shows that for LA to be so rich, it has such a high homelessness population. Walking the beach, getting the clean air in was such a treat too, love seeing so many people from different backgrounds. I expected to see diversity and I did today, from the different areas and of course the different foods offered. I am looking forward to more adventures tomorrow. -Rania A.
Being grateful is a very valuable character trait which should be administered throughout life for as long as you are able to live. Today as we traveled through Los Angeles and we were strolling down one of the main strips, I would get my first look at "skid row" a very heartbreaking view to see. So many potential lives lost due to choices made all I could do was say a prayer. Meanwhile on the other side of town not too far the view was a whole 180, from the nice cars to the better view of the community, even the streets itself were cleaner. Arriving at UCLA was inspiring, considering that was my first time ever being on the campus and who better to give a tour of the campus, Ms. Kristen. Hearing the his-story of how Black Panthers members were killed there and the only way they paid homage to them was to place their names on a stone, speaks so much volume especially during these revolving times were currently in. The stroll down Hollywood Blvd would be new as well to me but its nothing of the fictional sight we see in movies or on tv, there are a lot of changes needed in this country we call The United States of America. I just pray I'm here to witness and also be apart of the change I would love to see. Equality for all!!! -Tia J.
This year’s tour started with a zoom orientation.  Different but needed due to safety precautions.  Very informative and helpful. Topics included mental health and COVID- 19. In this land of great opulence, it’s humbling to see and walk through the real Skid Row. I didn’t take many pictures, because regardless of their station in life, these people still deserve respect. As Dr. Mike said, “ We must lift as we climb”. Starting our trip with a tour through Skid Row was absolutely necessary.  -TeShania B.
I am glad that I was able to give a campus tour of UCLA and talk about my experience as an undergraduate student. I am delighted that everyone enjoyed the campus tour. I personally had not been to Beverly Hills & Rodeo Drive before today simply because I had not gotten around to it. I have not seen Skid Row in person yet, but the area has been of much discussion in my recent classes. Los Angeles is a very diverse and vibrant city that is full of richness and culture. Even though I study other parts of the world, I can easily see the existing inequalities within Los Angeles itself. Skid Row is a great example of when extreme wealth collides with the poor. Even the geography and architecture is different. I think the main question then becomes: How can Skid Row and its peoples standard of living improve without gentrifying it, further displacing the homeless or the residents? It was great seeing familiar faces again as well as meeting new people! -Kristen L.
"This. Is. America." That statement was made by Dr. Weaver today while visiting Skid row. I have seen pictures and even seen clips on television about this place, but to see the eyes of the people, feel the emotions of the environment, and smell the air of the area was very surreal. I seen the hopelessness, the dreams that were lost, the consequences of mistakes, but through all of the misfortune I still seen community, I seen people living side by side and being amongst "family". From Skid row to UCLA from lost dreams to endless opportunities I seen the parallel of two worlds and it left me in a state of wonder on how the world can suck life out of you, but also how if you do the work and apply yourself how the world can be so fulfilling. I really took in and digested everything that I seen today and prayerfully it helps to continue to shape my perspectives on life in such a way that allows me to grow and have grace for others. -Patrice C.
I enjoyed the flight and the little tour that you gave us. It was exciting to see how these people live on the other side of the country. Also the Nipsey Hustle memorial was exciting to look at knowing he was a great and intelligent man. And the people up here respect him and his death. I just got used to the time zone because I didn’t know if I wanted to go to sleep last night or stay up. -Bobby H.
SECOND VISIT--AUGUST 21ST-23RD
It was nice getting to meet up with everyone on the UCLA campus. Even though I’ve been down in the dumps lately, today I was able to relax and enjoy everyone’s company. The Santa Monica Pier/3rd Street Promenade and Rodeo Drive are almost complete opposites of each other. The pier is calming, cool, peaceful and full of lively people while Rodeo Drive has an awkward silence that can only be filled by the rich and privileged. -Kristen L. (PART II)
Today was a busy and eventful day. Walking the streets of L.A. was exactly what I expected. Just being able to take the sights in was an experience in itself. From the many famous sights and buildings, to the landmarks and restaurants, L.A. has been more than just a trip. It was been an experience!  -Javon B. (PART II)
Today as we traveled between Inglewood and Beverly Hills, I noticed how deep the wealth disparity in America is. This was very similar to my hometown of Atlanta but it was still shocking to see. I was also surprised at the big homeless population down by the Santa Monica Pier. While I know homelessness is a large issue in the US, I didn't expect to see it all so close to a heavily tourist traveled destination. It was also interesting to see all of the houses in the hills around Hollywood and to hypothesize how high the insurance might be for those people. Overall it was just cool to see the difference between real world LA and tv/movie LA. -Kasamba A. (PART II)
Today’s experience was a sight full ...a great experience for my first time in LA. Everything is so busy & fast paced but absolutely beautiful. I expected the people to be kind of pushy due to the high volume of tourists but they are actually friendly, which is such a relief for someone who’s used to southern hospitality. Being able to tour UCLA was definitely my favorite part of the day. Learning about the historical aspects concerning blacks & how there is little recognition on the campus was different being that I attended an HBCU. It’s good but also sad to know that the racial injustice & protesters that are happening all around the world today are what’s making major universities & cities rethink some of the historical things on their campus. Santa Monica was another favorite, simply because of how absolutely beautiful it was lit up at night. I look forward to the events for tomorrow with being able to give back in some way in another community other than my own. -Markesia B. (PART II)
Different. It was all different from the moment I stepped off the plane the vibe and the energy of the people in the airport and the local eatery was different but I loved it. I also enjoyed bonding and getting to know the young ladies in my room and hearing some of their backgrounds. Beverly Hills is famous for being famous and also presenting the fairytale lifestyle we see on tv. The reality is it doesn’t show the opposite side. The cast out & less fortunate standing next to a Lamborghini being ignored asking for food or saying “anything would help”.  What separates us? Why is the separation so comfortable for us to not make a change? I pray one day we will be a able to come together and help those who are a little more unfortunate than we are in the areas of job placement, mental health and also financial stability. Stepping on the campus of UCLA and hearing about all the history and monumental events that took place on their campus was an eye opener. So many of those events never hit the history books but they are ones that are worth talking about especially in our society today. This trip so far has shown me to always be thankful and to give back every chance I get. -Sierra W. (PART II)
So far my experience of learning Los Angeles has been wonderful!  This is my longest flight in the books now.  A lot of sight seeing from my plane view before I landed.  I’ve tried new restaurants also learned about different events that took place at UCLA.  I had no clue Martin Luther king had a small speech there.  Learning the background and history of each area we visited today makes me want to go back and learn a little more... I’m ready for Day 2, to learn the other areas and it’s history as well! -Joy F. (PART II)
Today was my first day experiencing LA and I must say the day was very memorable and impactful. Our first stop was UCLA! The UCLA tour was very informative. I learned that this institution was a Land Grant Institution, just like my HBCU Fort Valley State University.  I like how the institution is taking initiative to rename a building after renowned African American leaders. I wished that it didn’t take the current state of the world to do so. What also interested me about LA was the vast amount of tree species that they have. For some odd reason I didn’t think this city would have so much greenery, it was truly amazing. I also had the opportunity to visit Santa Monica pier and the beach.  I didn’t realize how difficult it could be walking in sand, it was a really hard task for me, this made me think about the health of the people in LA and how strong they truly are because that was a workout with in itself. I truly enjoyed my first day in LA. -Sha’Bria J. (PART II)
Wow! My experience here in California has been great so far! I am heavily astounded by the architecture of the buildings here! The vibe of the LA streets was everything I expected and more! The food choice here in LA is spectacular. Los Angeles has a wide range of food variety in Italian, Mexican, Korean and Japanese. The traffic wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. I’m glad we were able to get to a lot of different locations in a decent amount of time. Out of all the places I’ve been to today the Pier really stuck out to me the most. I loved the foggy view from the pier with the mountains in the horizon. That was an extremely nice view to me and I connected with that the most. I am a huge fan of nature! I expect to see even more great landmarks of LA and I can’t wait to visit  them! -DeMarcus D. (PART II)
I arrived at LAX at about 12:15 pm it’s humid but there is a breeze. Not knowing what to really expect from this trip but I knew that LA was going to be good time. After getting settled into the hotel the nonstop adventure began. I’ve been to LA a few times but Never really dedicated a whole day to site seeing and going to most of the major attractions including UCLA. UCLA has never been on my list of places to go but I’m glad I was able experience walking on the campus that I always see on movies. LA doesn’t seem any different than Atlanta, traffic is the same the people are friendly. The only differences that I saw were the way the houses are built some even built into the hillsides, oh and of course palm trees. Today’s adventure was great and can’t want to see what tomorrow has in store. -Alicia C. (PART II)
First things first. Los Angeles has always been on my bucket list for American cities to visit. Being a native New Yorker I felt as if I was right at home as I began to explore the streets of L A.
Los Angeles is a mix between a New York minute and Florida weather without the humidity. It’s hustle and bustle, aggressive  driving and bumper-to-bumper traffic along with the stressful pedestrian crowds all fade away as you drive off into the luxurious soothing mountainous views of the Hollywood hills of Los Angeles observing the scenic landscape around the renowned Hollywood sign. Los Angeles is a melting pot for various cuisines from around the world. Choose any restaurant and you’re in for a delicious meal that’s well worth the price tag.  That California culture just pops out at you as you experience hippie like culture, millennial skateboard brats, multi-culture model type women, conservative preppy trust fund babies and the many facets of Afro and Latino ethnicities. There happens to be an overload of homelessness in the city which was surprisingly overwhelming; for I have never seen homeless people in multitudes in any city I’ve ever visited, but this I just is what it is... The trip is awesome and I’d absolutely revisit plenty of times for it was very exciting as well as relaxing. -Dameon C. (PART II)
THIRD VISIT--DECEMBER 27TH-29TH
Although I’ve never traveled to L.A. I gathered what to expect from photos & film. There’s the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, but there’s also laid back coastal cities, scenic mountains, and multiple beaches. So far I’ve visited iconic locations, such as the infamous Randy’s Donuts which has appeared in several movie sets and Nipsey Hussle’s clothing store, The Marathon, where he was tragically gunned down. Visiting Oceanside City reminded me of Jacksonville, FL with the towering palm trees, colorful beach homes, and surfing scene. I continue to notice the diverse communities of California which I’ve indulged in with street tacos and tajin fruit salads. I’m looking forward to what tomorrow will offer. -Shauna J. (Part III)
Today’s trip to San Diego from Los Angeles was a trip to remember. We started at the Courtyard hotel then boarded the minivan. Along the way to San Diego we stopped at Oceanside and got some food which was really good. What I ordered was hush puppies, I wasn’t really hungry since I had a big breakfast. When we got to San Diego we walked the entire boardwalk at the pier. On the way back we stopped at an outlet, shopped around and got some food, and finally made our way back home. -Qadir C. (Part III)
Today’s venture to San Diego actually was nice and relaxing. We made two stops before San Diego. One at a scenic rest stop over looking the beautiful massive Pacific Ocean and the other in a beach front town called Oceanside. There was a pier almost 8 stories tall and half a mile out to sea that was spectacular. People were actually surfing in the 60 degree weather and the ocean was a rich green-bluish color. The main stop in San Diego was a real Marvel as I enjoyed the view of the retired naval ships that were docked and turned into museums. As we headed back to Los Angeles we stopped to Window shop at an outlet mall then ended the evening off with some delicious seafood. I had an excellent time. -Dameon C. (Part III)
I am very excited to return to California for the second time. The Christmas decorations here are beautiful. I was so looking forward to a doughnut from Randy’s.  I wish I was closer to the lovely beaches of San Diego.  Today I also listening to the discussion of the making of the pyramids very interested. Today  I had a nice lunch and dinner with the entire group which is different. I am so looking forward to the volunteering project to help to give back to the community. -Pamela G. (Part III)

Zoë Kravitz's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles - https://shorthaircutsmodels.com/zoe-kravitzs-short-haircuts-and-hairstyles/ - Zoë Kravitz's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, You can probably remember many different short routes in the past but this particular fairy looks more modern with a little baby boom. Kravitz often debuts a chop between locs or even platinum blonde do in his long braids. There's nothing he can't really accomplish. Friends and family accept him. Zoë Kravitz's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles Zoë Kravitz's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, Stepfather Jason Momoa commented with the multi-heart eye emoji very cute model designer who used his own heart eyes with Emily Ratajkowski posted a bunch of yes and Naomi Campbell fire emojis. When I get a haircut I don't have that kind of comment on my Instagram from real supermodels. Zoe Kravitz's Short Haircuts Zoë Kravitz's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, returns to her old loot at the Thanksgiving table. The actress shared a photo of a new pixie cut on Instagram with the caption Just hair . A classic Kravitz look when he returns just in time for the holiday season. Kravitz often weathered short hair in the past, often between braids locs or platinum blonde dye work. Even hair deserves to be relaxed during the holidays, right. Zoe Kravitz's Short Hairstyles Zoë Kravitz's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, The new old look is a close-cropped cut that is just shy of a full buzz cut. A layered and wavy piece of hair is Kravitz's signature carefree-cool-chick vibe with the smallest hint of bursting touching her forehead. Big Little Lies star Zoë Kravitz underwent a major hair transformation, swapping her signature long braids for a super short crop of fairies. Zoe Kravitz's Haircuts and Hairstyles Zoë Kravitz's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, The actress took to Instagram to reveal her new look after it was revealed last month. Robert Pattinson will star as Catwoman alongside Batman. She first rocked a pixie cut that Kravitz went for a bleached crop in April 2017 and then wore in a slightly longer brunette style. Zoe Kravitz's Hairstyles Zoë Kravitz's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, You can always count on Zoë Kravitz to inspire your next attempt at effortless cool girl style and her latest hair makeover will no doubt be itching to book a salon appointment stat. But maybe it might take a few days to think about copying that, because it's pretty dramatic and there's absolutely no going back after this cut. Wearing her signature long braids for so long, the actress looked almost unrecognisable in her latest Instagram picture. Zoe Kravitz's Short Hair You may have seen these new box braids on celebrities such as Zoë Kravitz Eva Marcille and Jhené Aiko, but unless you thought of the style as a fabulous weave between goddess locs and box braids. If you want the bohemian look to be shorter than the traditional goddess locs that require braid hair, wrap each braid first with a spinning goddess box of braids may be your answer. It's the shortest thing the Fantastic Beasts star has worn her hair for quite some time but she's no stranger to fairy life. Zoe Kravitz's Hair And yes, in case you're wondering if the Big Little Lies actor is celebrating with a 'new' celebratory selfie. When you have the combined genetics of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, unwavering self-expression is rooted deep in your DNA. Plus you know the whole amazing thing. Yet Zoë Kravitz admits she has a rocky road when it comes to locking in her own personal appearance. The daughter of legendary singer Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, this gorgeous beauty is not only a style icon for many but continues to make headlines with her unusual hair choices. What hairstyle does Zoe Kravitz have? This Naturalista loves to experiment with his tresses and play forever to try something eccentric and daring. From box knitting to fairy brunette Zoe has her own thing and looks to own it all the way! The struggle that the YSL Beauty brand ambassador told us has always been real for me and my hair. When you have a Kinkier texture, the options may seem limited. Note that the operative word has emerged. Zoe Kravitz natural hair Since starting to switch to ordinary natural hair in 2014, the Lolawolf frontwoman and Big Little Lies actress has managed to experiment with an impressive number of styles with box braids. For him, it's a labor of love. She says I really prefer my hair to be natural. Celebrity hairdresser Nikki Nelms, who has worked with Kravitz since 2013, has also noticed a rise in confidence. He's very open to change and doesn't depend on anything Nelms says. Darkening or bleaching to turn length or cut. How do you get your hair like Zoe Kravitz? The same goes for makeup. It shouldn't be something you use to cover up. And I feel like YSL Beauty doesn't want me to cover myself up or be something Kravitz doesn't say. Make-up should highlight your individuality. While Kravitz's philosophy of beauty is good, he can even admit that there was a blast trying that line of reps. the basics are great, he says, and Touche Éclat is like sleeping 24 hours in a pen you can put in your pocket. Zoe Kravitz blonde hair His experiment turned out to be part of a lifelong course. You just have to find out what works for you and what doesn't. Understood. The main difference with Boho box braids is that, unlike traditional box braiding technique, boho braids have a less uniform appearance with wavy hair added to certain points for a finer carefree vibe. From parts to the end the look is deliberately less polished. Kravitz wore accessories with decorations such as hair jewelry and also played with color which spice up this hair. What kind of braiding hair does Zoe Kravitz use? Pulling box braids into a top bun like Zoe usually gives this an added boho edge look. It is well known that box braids and other knitting techniques originated in ancient Africa, where the braids were decorated with Shell feathers jewels and beads. Today boho braids are another reincarnation of our creativity and history. Zoe Kravitz curly hair On Wednesday evening, she revealed she was going for a surprise transformation, returning to her old classic look with a new super short pixie cut. The daughter of the Lenny Kravitz singer and star of the hit series Big Little Lies We are now obsessed with dolls, Zoe Kravitz. One thing we particularly love about her is her attitude towards beauty. She always fascinates us with her constant gaze to try something new with her hair or make-up. Check out his coolest moments here. How do you get Zoe Kravitz box braids? The Big Little Lies actress frequently changes her hairstyles, experimenting with everything from short plants to platinum blonde hair. Tuesday's Instagram however Zoe has long uploaded a photo showing her rocking her brunette braid and posing with her fresh pixie cut. Hair she captioned the snap by adding a scissor emoji. Zoe Kravitz hair cut Zoe did not add further details, but her likely transformation is Matt Reeves's Robert Pattinson with Paul Dano Jeffrey Wright with John Turturro and Andy Serkis in the role of Selina Kyle Catwoman in Batman. The film is scheduled for release in June 2021. Zoe " s post caught the attention of her celebrity followers by adding Charlize Theron looks so good that she's so beautiful Abbie Cornish and Emily Ratajkowski adding Yes with a heart-eye emoji. Summer may be winding down but a protective style is just warming up. What is a goddess braid? Boho box weaves also known as Gypsy or goddess box weaves are officially here and posed to take over if you missed it. While she looks great with literally any haircut, Zoë Kravitz was made for short hair. Or should I say that these trendy short haircuts are just meant for her. Kravitz showed off a new pixie haircut on instagram Part new and part og Zoë got a wavy look. This time, Kravitz has become a close product, with tons of texture on top and a carefree vibe waving forward. They're Baby Bang's baby and she looks beautiful. Zoe Kravitz white hair A question for beauty fans: is there anything more universal than a post-salon selfie? Then a haircut ritual unites hair care aficionados everywhere, if we stop with less light, or a big chop of La Zoe Kravitz's new pixie cut. The Pixie cut continued its reign as the hairstyle of the moment on Sunday night at the 2017 Emmy Awards thanks to Zoë Kravitz, who paired her short-Shagged hairstyle with a fantastic Dior dress. Do you dip Goddess Braids? The Big Little Lies star was one of the best looks of the night. So what's the perfect fairy secret? Hairdresser Nikki Nelms, who has worked with stars such as Janelle Monáe Beyoncé and Kravitz, explains that it all started with a great cut. It really started with a textured cut because it says it's there no matter how the wind blows its texture. Here Nelms talks about the trend and offers her top tips and tricks for designing a fairy cut for a night out. Zoe Kravitz hair braids Zoë Kravitz is a million style icons. Her fearless choices on and off the red carpet encourage black women in particular to take risks with our beauty style and hair. So I was elated when the new brunette shared a photo of pixie cut on Instagram. There is a very narrow definition of beauty for black actresses, who often have long flowing hair. Kravitz often tries new things with his hair and shows the world that there are a Million Ways Black women can look inspiring. Here are 16 of his most iconic hair looks of all time.

Your Engagement Photos
L Lawliet (Ryuzaki)
This photo shoot is going to be rather interesting. L always wears the same thing because that's his thing that he always does. For some reason, you managed to change his mind. He is willing to wear the outfits that you picked for him. Of course, the photos will turn out to be cute, quirky, and slightly odd. Just like how the relationship is, you two wouldn't have it any other way.
Sebastian Michaelis (Modern Day)
Oh, this is the photo shoot is going be a classy stylish type of deal. Since this is going to be rather nice photo shoot, the outfits that you and Sebastian are going to coordinate together are going to be the envy of every engaged couple in London. Of course, the pictures will all be perfect. Your outfits will always be on point and classy like Audrey Hepburn and Sebastian will always look handsome in everything.
Kyoya Ootori
The photo shoot will be quite surprisingly adorable. Since Kyoya is always the "Cool Type", his personal style will be reflected by his personality. His smarts and his style always go hand in hand. So, the photos will be top notch. It's basically going to be like a magazine photo shoot, but it will be more spontaneous and romantic with a hint of casual cuteness. The two of you are going to look fabulous.
Makoto Tachibana
The photo shoot is going to be super cute. The outfits are going to be pretty casual. The photo shoot itself is pretty casual. It's more of a personality thing when it comes to you and Makoto's photo shoot. The photos will be very cute. Both you and Makoto have such a great casual style that reflects your personalities that includes plaid shirts and Converse sneakers. Simply adorable.
Tamaki Suoh
The photos will be more of a cute romantic movie. Since Tamaki loves to dance to "So This Is Love", your photo shoot will be more of a reflection of the heart between the two of you. Of course the photos will turn out to be super romantic. The outfits are going to be inspired by Cinderella and the photos will be the two of you dancing and laughing. A super adorable and romantic happily ever after.
Levi Ackerman (Modern Day)
The photos will be more rustic and authentic in the tone of the photo shoot. The stoic manor of Levi wants to make sure that the cuteness is not the main factor of the photo shoot. Your personalities are more idea of tough people who fighters for justice. The outfits are going to be a military style yet with a fierce look. Of course, you're going to look awesome and Levi looks good in anything.
Uta
This photo shoot will involve heavily on masks. Since Uta is the master of the making of masks and you've the creative eye, it will be a beautiful and creative photo shoot. Of course, random spontaneous moments make the photo shoot more enjoyable. The outfits will be varied because of the masks that the two of you created. It will look like the two of you came from a Tim Burton movie.
Shuu Tsukiyama
The photo shoot will be an old-school style magazine photo shoot. Since both you and Tsukiyama are highly into fashion, it makes sense to channel your favorite actor/actress form the 1940's-1960's. It includes from Cary Grant to Grace Kelly. The outfits are all designer clothes such as Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel, Burberry, and Dior. The both of you are very stylish couple indeed.
Armin Arlert (Modern Day)
The photo shoot will be a very cute adventure. Armin always wants to travel to see the ocean and you want to help him achieve his goal to see the ocean. So, the inspiration for the photo shoot will be from the movie Up! It's perfect. The outfits will be highly inspired by the movie couple Carl and Ellie. Armin is going to look so adorable in suspenders and you're going to be so adorable in a light blue dress.

I can’t believe I haven’t shared my favourites with you since Christmas! What? I’m sorry but I’ve been so busy.  Since there are so many goodies that I love I tried to narrow it down to give you the best of the best!
NETFLIX
I never thought that I would use the word OBSESSED over anything but seriously I’m Obsessed with RIVERDALE. Every since I can remember I’ve enjoyed reading Archie Comics and Riverdale is based off the Archie Comics Characters. Riverdale’s storyline includes issues like murder, bullying, backstabbing, trust and of course love. I also watched and really liked 13 Reasons Why. A very dark and really powerful series. 13 Reasons Why is a very important series in my opinion. A lot of people don’t realize what students are faced with everyday in schools and we need to be more aware and involved with issues such as bullying, mental illness and depression. The series deals with suicide, bullying and rape. The acting is very good and the characters very believable. I’ve also been enjoying Z Nation! A really amazing series about Zombies but super scary ones and not the kind you find in The Walking Dead. More like zombies on fast forward mode. Super fast ones and ten times uglier!
"A great place to get away with it all" -Riverdale #Riverdale is my recent obsession and I spy with my little eye little gems 💎 on the show! As soon as I spotted @covergirl I said to my self "I need to share this incredible information" plus I fell in love with the makeup on the show. But of course! 😘 It's all about the lips! Now I have three ❤️ loves featured in this post. 1. @netflixcan 2. @thecwriverdale and 3. @covergirl 😘❤️🤘🏻 I'm so excited and I can't wait to bring you a blog post. In the post I'll be discussing all the characters also I'll be integrating the makeup of course! So expect to see a plethora of hotness, sexiness and danger! That's what @thecwriverdale is all about! #covergirl #riverdale #makeup #blogger #beautyblog #bbloggersca #bbloggers #beautyblogger #archiecomics #netflix *samples for review purposes. I really like the show BEYOND. I love the acting and the mystery. It’s very deep and believable. I can’t stand science fiction that has horrible acting but BEYOND is amazing! I am drawn into the show by Burkely Duffield’s acting and intensity. I also really love The Walking Dead. I’m upset that The Vampire Diaries  has ended. I cried like a baby! Also the last season of Pretty Little Liars is going to start today. There are 10 episodes left and I’m so excited but sad at the same time. You can catch up to Pretty Little Liars on Netflix if you like.
Our family is enjoying watching Anne on CBC. People are hesitant when I tell them about this but I assure you this is an incredible version of Anne of Green Gables. The original is good but this version in my opinion is AMAZING!  I really love the darkness and the cinematography. I love the way the camera is used in this series because it really highlights how Anne is feeling and what she’s been through. The series really captures how Anne’s past has effected her. Brilliant Series! Truly incredible and the acting is amazing! Totally recommend you watch Anne.

I’m very excited that BRAVO has announced that The Handmaid’s Tale written by Margaret Atwood will air in Canada exclusively! I’m so excited to see this Drama. I love Margaret Atwood and this is the first book that got me interested in reading novels so I’m looking forward to it.
Bravo announced today it has exclusively acquired one of 2017’s most anticipated dramas, the television adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s iconic The Handmaid’s Tale, in a deal with MGM Television. The 10-episode first season airs in Canada exclusively on Bravo, beginning with a special two-hour premiere event on Sunday, April 30 from 9 to 11 p.m. ET (10 p.m. – midnight PT). The one-hour drama continues to air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT, beginning May 7. The entire first season launches on CraveTV this spring, following the season finale on Bravo. -BRAVO

You may think you know or understand me from the suggested and often misunderstood visceral & visual tone of my posted work. You MAY, but you will never ever actually come to any sort of conclusion unless you choose and succeed at looking deep into the self polarizing pathos and DIY till I die determination that informs every facet of my creative & hopefully thought provoking artistic, political and personal stance. If your spending an overwhelming period of better utilized time questioning the purpose, passion and correct point of view of those you deem .not on your side and couldn't actually care less about their indifference and non inclusion of your world anyway, it is perhaps time for you to social media disconnect and redirect the inspirational sparks and shared creative synergy that your on-line presence not only inspires, but informs anyone seeking some deeper meaning and lasting purpose regarding the manner and socially awkward mayhem of your experiences and the at times long hesitation of wait and see the final destination of our daily life experiences that we over emphasize through bullet point rifled personally potent postings promoting our self delusional appreciation and understanding of the self stating shared synergy that fuels our current creative desires and the never ending search for a perfect new medium in which to showcase them. Picture frames ans pretty much any type of visual not displaying itself correctly on some sort of screen set at a 3 second shift of images that leaves the pictures haphazardly etched into our conscious. It;s been slightly amusing seeing the often incorrect re-appropriation of my past works that when originally presented labeled me a pornographer of dubious and damaged integrity blithely showing off my ex-hooker, forever a junkie, AIDS relate-able personal drama and self persecution laced presentation of what polite people refer to as my artistic work. Autistic twerk is more like it. It all starts to make sense suddenly and my personally motivated switch of creative mediums comes across casually and gives no hint at others poorly perceived notions of how to maintain, manage and virtually manifest the clearest and most accurate version exactly how, where, when, what & why I am initiating a long awaited and previously posed with move from digital photography to digital film. It's not that photographs or random still images no longer incite inspiration within me, but i have a renewed creative hunger to tell my visually rich, moment caught in time pictorial perceptions of the world as I continue to come upon it in personally nuanced and arresting pictures that often wear their intensity like a much maligned and majorly misconstrued social handicap of frankly preposterous and selfishly painful decrees decrying ,owns own carefully and life long curated correctness. I'm 52 and I've been pretty much taking photographs since I was just dropped out of high school and living part time in the Chelsea Hotel as anti- fashion terrorist and 7th Ave knock off re-designer self publishing the first of 5 indie publication The Key. Al it took was an unsolicited paragraph of self reverential praise to take it from a Xeroxed & hand stapled $1 a copy fast food fashion inspired teen dream novelty to fashion designer approved & super supported legends in their own lifetimes hyper surreal 80s shooting style stars like Norma Kamali & Way bandy introduced Stephen Sprouse to secure is a publishing deal literally on my 18th birthday in what would come to be the best realized and inspired 1984 year of my life. The late 80s defining Avedon Vogue covers just as world famous make-up artist as his oft times super model before it was deemed hashtag worthy Brooke Sheilds. Way was very approachable, much like most of the pop art world of culturally correct pre-internet celebrities that never had to fear with cell phones and social media to further distract from whatever way out wild and personally soiled to random extinction proclivities of all too often misunderstood or simply ignored, looked on as unnecessary critiques on those who call their arts performing. The 70s / 80s gold plated period of utter pop(t) culture perfection has never been replaced or more relevant. it continues to inform a host of style servers and visual vanguards who set the tone for all we deem fashionable, fierce & transformative. Going back to the good time girl prohibition era flappers and their self professed need / desire to dance their cares away and have the best time of their life till death to the current state of street style inspired rebooted and redefining world of Haute Couture once again inspired and defined by Saint Laurent, Dior and Gucci albeit each famed and style setting house now under radical redefining fashion focus that manages to respectfully pay nu rage homage to the brands history, but seek ways to incorporate the often awkward proportions of urban influenced street style that when seen through the eyes of the Vetements infused mind rewerking the always sublime mod style proportion savvy design mind helming an extremely personal and stylishly over wrought almost radical re-imagining of the deeply respected and ultra icronic experimental & visionary couture house Balenciaga..There were skirts fashion from actual and completely randomly sourced car mats deftly shuffled into a collection that closed with 9 over the top and way over-sized almost to the point of unwearable proportions that instantly achieve Avedon photo moment in fashion history correctness as they unapologetic-ally praise the design notion of ultra future modern vintage retro photograph of culturally current creations that take inspiration from bold silhouettes and a generous, almost overly lavish attention to cut and proportion that in some cases requires the pop kulture class-ism of 60's Irving Penn influenced and perfectly posed presence of the cult model of Funny Fave infamous-ness Dovima to pull off with a level of panache and a heightened sense of strictly amplified drama punctuated by perfectly arched eyebrows framing equally attentive and slightly rich bitch super vixen fierceness that can't be faked unless it;s Evita moment Mario Testino in his 90s Vanity Fair primed for all time Madonna. Looking at the aggressively fearless proponents of radically almost unwearable proportions executed in a modern assimilation of not always unawkward siljouettes that altrhough not as gar out and frankly unbothered by anything other than it;s own correctness Comme des Garcon, rather a redefined riff on the retro notions of business attire and women wearing versions of men's tailoring, sparked by YSL in his properly Helmut Newton 70s style blip of his Le Smoking tuxedo influenced suits further pushed into androgyny by slicked back short hair cuts that forever set the standard for Bowie pioneered gender bending ensembles that were majorly loathed or deeply loved when first introduced. The insane radical yet pop culturally relevant instantly pop cult classic correctness of Ziggy Stardust seamlessly morphed into YSl man tailored sexually ambiguous models mane even more infamous in their provocative, often sexually charge/d photographs often shot in dark Parisian alleys and dramatically street light lit lending an air of instant style reformation of perfectly potent only werked correctly in the 70;s mix of lady like femininity mixed with an elegantly irreverent masculine tailoring that too easily wrought to mind the gay disco dollies not yet commonly referred to as lesbians, yet unflinchingly setting the style trend that made Helmut Newton dangerously exotic and first introduce the idea of super exclusively expensive made by hand atelier attended Haute Couture that today seems more Ready-to-Couture with it;s street styled leanings and brave style assertions that are elegantly askance. The often classic attention to cut and uber refined measures of stitching that further accented the carefully crafted couture cut that is nothing like your basic, badly cut and boring boxy jacket. The New Look symbolized and introduced Christian Dior's legendary post war arrival that stirred a full on fashion freak out for bucking war time fabric restrictions with liberated and lavish for the times over indulgences of fabric measured by multiple yards and a retro regal stance when wearing the often sharply pinched and flared waist suit jackets that had a multi gored and just above the ankle length skirt that every designer in time since had offered their own version. Print Vogue is a bore, but vogue.com gives you every single look shown during global fashion week and to the point well worded break downs freshly devoid of attitude and detail driven to blogger extremes. This just finished past season was over loaded with a plethora of just the right dose of retro inspired vintage sportswear taken to wryly ironic or deathly drastic extremes. Which is probably why I love it and have actually been inspired to write fashion inspired posts in over a decade. - Walt Cessna

Trend 1: Where fashion and delicious food meet (yes, you read that correctly):
When thinking of fashion and the runway, and super thin runway models, one doesn’t necessarily think of restaurants, eating, cocktails and overindulging. However, retailers/fashion icons have noticed the rising trend in unique food experiences and themed restaurants and have quickly gotten on board. Some high-end fashion restaurants around the world include:
NYC:
Tiffany’s Blue Box Café:
Located on the 4th floor of Tiffany’s flagship store, is their 1940s styled, teal colored, breakfast and lunch café. Tiffany’s promises a one of a kind experience from the high tea prix fix menu to their showcase Blue Box celebration cake (which everyone seems to rave about and fake their birthdays for).
The Polo bar by Ralph Lauren:
Just a few steps away from Ralph Lauren’s Fifth Avenue flagship store is the Polo Bar. The interior has an exclusive 1960s gentleman’s club like feel with wooden paneling on the ceilings and floors, leather couches and leather bar stools and beautiful, ornate, framed pictures of champion horses aligning the walls. The ambiance is said to be exclusive, chic, conservative and swanky. Many celebrities have been spotted as this exclusive spot. Diners suggest making reservations well in advance (and take a second mortgage) to pay and experience this one of a kind restaurant.
Armani Ristorante:
Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan is Georgio Armani’s high-end dining restaurant, Armani Ristorante. The interior can be described as contemporary meets modern, with clean, elegant lines and curvy booths, and a color palette of red, black and white. Diners proclaim the service is very good, and the food is excellent, but the portions are on the smaller side. The Armani ristorante also boasts locations all over the world, from Tokyo to Dubai to Milan and Paris.
Worldwide:
Café Dior, Seoul, South Korea:
Café Dior by Pierre Herme is located on the 5th floor in the flagship House of Dior store in Seoul’s trendy Gangnam neighborhood. This beautiful café is an Instagram lover’s dream and offers shoppers an elegant and luxurious space to relax and eat after a day of shopping. The menu is an eclectic mix of gourmet delicacies created by the world famous French pastry chef, Pierre Herme.
Le Jardin de Tweed, Tokyo, Japan:
Situated on the rooftop of Chanel’s flagship Tokyo store, this rooftop eatery was designed to incorporate Chanel’s most famous motif, and tweed into its décor. Open from April until October, it’s the perfect place to sip on a glass of champagne or wine in the summertime and watch as the sun goes down and gaze at the other designer buildings all around you.
Trend 2: Museum food has finally done a 180, and gone are the days of awful cafeteria food:
Remember those days when you went to a museum and all they had was terrible cafeteria food and those awful, obnoxious trays (so obnoxious they made school lunches look sexy). Well, not anymore! Thankfully museums are stepping it up a notch and collaborating with designers and world renowned chefs to create onsite eateries as amazing as some of the exhibits. What a perfect pairing…fine art and food. Here are a few worth noting:
Esker Grove at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis:
Esker Grove, which opened in March of 2017, is now a key component in the museum’s new entrance pavilion. The restaurant, whose staff, which took notes from the museum, serves dreamy, farm to table food with total precision. Noe that the head chef, was a 2017 James Beard Foundation semifinalist so you know you won’t be disappointed.
Terzo Piano, Modern art wing of the Art Institute of Chicago:
Located in the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, Terzo Paso features the signature cuisine of Chef Tony Mantuano, who has been satisfying the delicate pallets of Chicagoans for years with his four-star Italian restaurant Spiaggia. The restaurant boasts fresh, local, organic and sustainably produced cuisine.
The National Café and the National Gallery, London:
The National Café had the right idea by utilizing their Monet exhibition for their source of inspiration. The café boasts a Venetian breakfast, Parisian afternoon tea, and creating flavors of the cities Monet painted in their Credit Suisse Exhibition: Monet and architecture. The National dining room also offers a luxurious lunch and Parisian afternoon tea.
In Situ at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art:
This restaurant has garnered rave reviews and accolades since opening, including gaining its first Michelin star last year. The chef, Corey Lee curated a menu of unique dishes contributed by over 90 chefs from around the world. In 2016 Peter Wells called it the most original restaurant in the country (This is American’s Most Original New Restaurant). Pretty impressive for a restaurant inside a museum!
Other notable food trends in CPG:
Sea vegetables (think dried algae, seaweed snacks, and algae soup)
Plant based (think plant based alternatives to dairy, as well as plant based snacks and condiments)
Heath focused: putting healthy snacks in vending machines
Natural and organic products (products like organic, biodynamic wines, gin made from 100% natural products, and 100% all-natural energy drinks)
New trends in alcohol (rum and coffee combined, beer cocktails, Italian gin from Malfy and liquor made from the arbutus tree from Distileria Urbana)
New restaurant openings that are well worth getting on a plane and hoping your boss will expense this meeting with that ‘potential client’ of yours:
New York, NY: Broken Shaker:
This sexy new rooftop bar just opened in the Freehand hotel – a new hotel in Gramercy (the hotel already has locations in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Miami). The venue promises sweeping views of the city, and an eclectic mix of handcrafted cocktails and delicious bites.
Los Angeles, CA: Rappahannock Oyster Bar
Finally, Los Angeles has a sweet oyster bar, let’s all rejoice! This daytime only (dinner coming soon) oyster bar/restaurant is located in LA’s warehouse District, just blocks from the Arts District. The menu features sustainably, locally sourced ingredients and most importantly, the oysters, which are flown in everyday from the Chesapeake Bay.
San Francisco, CA: Che Fico
This Italian Taverna with a California/Jewish influence has been all the rage in the Nopa neighborhood of San Fran. Reviews rave about the beautiful ambiance, impeccable service, and fresh and local ingredients. They say if you can’t get a reservation, pop in super early and keep your fingers crossed.
Chicago, IL: Pacific Standard Time
PST promises to bring the warmth and authenticity of California farms and Artisans to the heart of downtown Chicago. The open kitchen, impeccable service, nice vibe and relaxing, yet upscale ambiance and to die for cocktails have Chicagoans crying, we want more!
Washington D.C.: Spoken English
Chef Eric Bruner Yang has decided to bring together a unique concept of bringing people together by forcing people to stand and eat around a live fire kitchen. Between the unique style of dining and the Grillworks Blanco wood oven, D.C. patrons raving about this new joint.
Global Food Trends – May 2018 Trend 1: Where fashion and delicious food meet (yes, you read that correctly): When thinking of fashion and the runway, and super thin runway models, one doesn’t necessarily think of restaurants, eating, cocktails and overindulging.
