Here to remind you how Tony was unfocusing his gaze 'cause of the pain he felt while probably struggling to recognize what was happening around him and who was the person in front of him, but as soon as he heard "it's me, it's Peter" he immediately focused on him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while he couldn't find the force to speak, my theory is that he didn't do it also because he didn't know what to say to make the kid stop crying, to make the pain go away.
He knew what to do with Pepper and with Rhodey, their reactions were so part of their characters: Rhodey and Tony didn't need to share a word, they have been friends since ever and they understand each other without the need to talk; Pepper and Tony both smiled at each other, to reassure the other that everything and everyone will be fine.
With Peter? I think Tony not speaking was also in character. He didn't almost speak when Peter was dying, he didn't know what to do. He tried to comfort him when he said "you're alright", but as soon as things got worse he just stood there in shock, without never taking his eyes off him while Peter was crying and begging him to do something.
The same happens here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the photos you can't catch it very clearly, but if you watch the complete scene you can see how Tony is not taking his eyes off him and -even when Pepper is there and is trying to take him away- he's trying to calm him down with his eyes, because that's Peter, the kid he lost and that he found five years later just to lose him again. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I almost saw panic in his eyes, it's like he was scared about Peter not being okay and about him not saying a word again. That's why he whispered kid once he wasn't in his gaze anymore, he wanted to see him one last time, to make sure to reassure him like he did with Rhodey and, soon, with Pepper. To make Peter sure that he will be fine even without him.

Can we just talk about Tony and Peter for a minute?
Tony grieved Peter being blipped. The kid became ash right in front of him.
5 years. A marriage and a daughter later, and his heart still hurts thinking of him and seeing the framed photos of his mentee. A young friend. Someone who was like a son to help grow and watch out for.
Then this fucking ant dude shows up with the idea of time travel and everyone thinks its possible and tony thinks is certain they’ve all lost their last collective brain cell.
But he thinks. And thinks some more.
In the course of an evening, this dude figures out fucking time travel. And he is in shock. Not so much that he figured it out, but the fact that he can actually get Peter back.
Tony figured out time travel to save a boy who had become family to him.
And then, at the end of the line after making the heroic sacrifice he made. His last word, “kid,” spoken so softly in effort to give some comfort, to tell him it was okay. Only taking his eyes off him to look to his wife.
I cry every time

Speaking my truth yet again: the “relationship” between Peter and MJ on screen. There is none. They had four months together max.
She professed her love at the end and he was going to do the same before she stopped him. I get it, four months isn’t a long time but def can be long enough to fall in love. Why does that seem impossible? Not fighting you on it, just wonder why you are so against it?
If you think an honest reflection of who MCU Peter and MJ actually are and exist on screen implied that I’m against it, then I fear a little for media analysis.
Tumblr media
I would not have written nearly 2.5% of all fics for MCU PeterMJ on AO3 if I was against them. I love them dearly and think that yeah, 4 months for a couple of 17 year olds can feel deep to the two of them.
That doesn’t mean it is deep nor is it reality to pretend that they have a magnificent love story that was ripped apart like so many in fandom argued after NWH. Pretending that their love story is this complex, interwoven relationship with depth is to be as delusional as irondad fans who argued Tony saw Peter as his actual son.
Calling something for what it is on screen ≠ being against something. It just means I have eyes and watched the actual MCU.
I write a lot of fanfic and obviously I believe in the potential of what they could’ve been/could be, but I’m not going to be delusional and say all that I write is canon.

God i agree so much, you can't go 2 steps in bnha ao3 tag without running into all might bashing like my man is kind he didn't deserve this shit especially because it's done to place Aizawa "stinky garbage teacher man" on a pedestal
DUDE i could go on a fucking rant about and y'know what? I will.
Apologies for the chunks of text thata re very ramble-y.
It seems like a lot of hatred of Yagi stems from two things: his words to Izuku in s1e1, and his bad teaching. For the latter, I think that's bullshit because in my interpretation, Yagi is not quirkist. People forget that he was fuckin quirkless himself, and sure, his generation wasn't as discriminatory but he presumably went through the same things as Izuku. And keep in mind, Yagi regards himself as helpless/useless without his quirk (see: the Vigilante Arc in the manga), as to him it's the only reason he could be a hero. Furthermore, even with the most powerful quirk, he still got his ass beat by AFO. So when a quirkless Izuku asks him if he can be a hero, it's not that he hates quirkless people, or that he is discriminatory, it's that Yagi own insecurities dictate that he himself couldn't be a hero without a quirk. Yagi is a victim of the system that discriminates against quirkless people, as well as a victim of his own trauma.
And with the former point, I see a lot of points that Yagi sucks because he's a bad teacher and didn't stop Izuku from breaking himself. Now, he's not an amazing teacher, but jfc characters can have flaws, and ultimately he's well meaning. But the sheer hypocrisy I see when people write Aizawa as this amazing teacher when he did fuck all for Izuku too. Aizawa let Izuku break himself and never helped, even though he threatened Izuku on the first day. (And speaking of the first day, there's no way Aizawa didn't rig the QAT. Izuku canonically can lift a whole ass fridge with Yagi on top with 100% quirkless, and is. comparatively fit. There's no way people like Hagakure, Jiro, Kaminari, Koda, etc. etc. would beat him in everything enough for him to be last place.) Furthermore, Aizawa had to know Izuku only just got his quirk (I believe that the thing that he doesn't check student files is completely fanon, but correct me if I'm wrong) and did nothing, but gets put on a pedestal! And that's hypocritical. Aizawa let Bakugo harass Izuku, didn't notice Mineta's harassment, didn't help Kaminari utilise his quirk to stop him from shocking himself, etc. etc. And I think that Aizawa is a product of a bystander society but y'all, how can he be put on a pedestal and Yagi bashed when he's a shit teacher too??
Also, if there was a quirkless person in the hero course, what's the chance Aizawa would have expelled them? Because tbh, there's probably a chance that he would.
Also, don't get me started on the people who think Yagi 'groomed' Izuku like wtf. If that's the case, then doesn't that mean Aizawa groomed Shinso? I could also talk a lot abt shinso because a lot of the stuff about him is completely fanon and everyone likes to woobify him, but that's an ask for another day. How people can bash Yagi, but have a Bakugo redemption, parental Aizawa, good friend Shinso, etc. is just, eh. Like I get it, but eh.
And honestly, to an extent I get it. People love found family. Hell, I'm a massive fan of Irondad, Dadmight, and so many other things like that. And to an extent Dadzawa isn't bad! But to bash Yagi to make Aizawa seem like a better person? Nah. They're both heavily flawed characters, and ignoring one's flaws and exacerbating the other's just feels hypocritical.
Honestly, at this point I can't really read any Dadzawa fics or Quirkless Izuku fics because of the rampant Yagi bashing. It's just, ugh. I can't wait until the Vigilante arc is animated, so that anime-onlys have to see that Yagi and Izuku's relationship is so much more that what they describe.
But hell, this is the MHA fandom. Critical analysis means fuck all here. But each to their own.
Ultimately, MHA is a flawed world, where everyone is a victim of societal bias and inherent discrimination. No one character is exempt from this. Not Yagi, not Aizawa, not anyone else. But everyone is allowed to have their own interpretation.

Irondad Analysis: The Homecoming hug reach for the door
I’d be happy to Anon! If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s over analysing our favourite father-son duo hah!
Let’s start at the beginning of the car ride:
Tumblr media
Tony: What are you doing, a little video diary?
Peter: Yeah.
Tony: It’s all right. I’d probably do the same
Despite only just coming out of the disaster that was the Civil War, Tony is right there to help take Peter back home and assures the teen that it’s alright that he’s recording and having fun like any kid would. Throughout the rest of the movie Tony is always the one insisting that Peter shouldn’t throw away his youth in favour of being a superhero, so this little scene is a great hint of what’s yet to come in terms of Tony’s position on the whole Avenger situation.
Initially he has his sunglasses on which is one of his emotional defences like previously discussed, but when he suggests Peter and he should make an alibi video for May, he willing takes them off:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tony easily slips into a playful bit of banter with Peter as they try and film their alibi, and when that doesn’t work, Tony begins bantering with Happy instead to keep the mood light-hearted. It’s so refreshing to see Tony actually smile and laugh after all the pain he went through with losing the team and Rhodey getting paralysed only days beforehand. You can tell how much Tony has already let his guard down around Peter from these screenshots alone, and that’s because he knows that Peter is pure hearted and kind and would never betray him while he’s vulnerable like this.
Tumblr media
Peter: I can keep the suit?
Once the banter has passed though, we get right back into business with this line from Peter and a set of killer puppy dog eyes. The sudden change of tone and the hope and admiration that’s showing through Peter’s gaze alone is enough to make Tony’s walls rise back up again though, not because he has anything against Peter but because he can no longer distract himself with the light conversation they’d been having previously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is where Tony takes a chance to give Peter a guide as to how he should continue his Spider-Man duties, though his instructions are vague and contradictory. The reason for this is most likely a combination of two reasons, one being that Tony isn’t mentally ready enough to start ‘mentoring’ Peter in any meaningful way, and two that he’s experienced a great loss of friendships and the idea of getting close to someone new is just too difficult at this time. He likes Peter, he wants to watch out for him, but at this time he’s not in the right mindset to be the person that Peter is looking for him to be (something that will of course change by the end of the movie).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peter: Wait, does that mean that I’m an Avenger?
Tony: No.
Considering what just happened with the Avengers breaking up and the Sokovian Accords being introduced, it’s no wonder Tony shuts down the idea of Peter being an Avenger so quickly. Being an Avenger is messy, it hurts, and there’s not a lot of reward, so of course for Tony it only makes sense that Peter -young, kind, unprepared Peter- should stay away from the big leagues.
Tumblr media
[Happy knocks on the window and holds the case up.]
Happy: This it?
Tony: Seventh floor.
Tony always gives away subtle clues as to how much he cares about the people close to him, and Tony’s immediate recall of the way to Peter’s address earlier (Tony to Happy: “This is because you’re not on Queens Boulevard.”) and the floor that Peter’s apartment is on shows that he really is paying attention to Peter on a personal level. Remember that this is the same man who teased Happy relentlessly on the drive only to instruct Peter not to stress him out because of his heart condition as soon as he left the car, so subtle things like this hold a lot of weight with Tony.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peter: So when’s, when’s our next... When’s our next “retreat,” you know? Like...
Tony: What, next mission?
Peter: Yeah, the mission. The missions.
Tony: We’ll call you.
Peter: Do you have my numbers?
Tony: No, I mean, we’ll call you. Like, someone will call you.
Reinforcing my past point that Tony’s not quite ready to be making any new connections right now, he keeps Peter at a distance and says that ‘somebody’ will get in touch with him for any new missions. As we all know, two months pass with barely any contact between them, but while this is disappointing for Peter and leads to a lot of miscommunication during the events of Homecoming, it’s also important to note that this time Tony is taking to readjust himself will eventually get him to a place where he can be Peter’s mentor in a stable way.
But just because Tony’s not completely ready right now, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to be Peter’s mentor, as shown through this iconic moment:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tony: It’s not a hug. I’m just grabbing the door for you. We’re not there yet.
Tony might say they’re not there yet, but his subconscious certainly is considering he leans his head to the left instead of the right where his body would naturally position if he was solely reaching for the door. By tilting his body this way, his face naturally goes to Peter’s right shoulder and leads the teen to initiate a surprised, awkward hug. If you see in the third image, Tony was clearly already in a hugging position before Peter had even raised his hand, which leads me to believe that Tony moved in for a goodbye embrace only to short circuit and brush it off as getting the door instead.
Tumblr media
If you look closely, you'll see Peter’s soul leave his body as Tony puts him in one of the most socially awkward situations I’ve ever witnessed hah.
Tumblr media
And with his walls back up and his mind probably reeling from the fact that he almost just hugged this kid that he was supposed to be keeping a distance from, Tony can’t even meet Peter’s eyes and just stares blankly ahead.
Tumblr media
A picture says a thousand words, but this one only says two: Existential crisis.
Tumblr media
But fear not, despite the miscommunication and the stunted emotions, we get to see another glimpse of Tony’s true feelings as Peter leaves the car and he turns to say goodbye. He may not be able to meet the teen’s eyes or be the mentor he needs him to be yet, but he’s looking out for him still. He’s keeping watch at a distance, and when the time comes, he’ll be there for Peter when he needs him.
...
Alrighty, I think I successfully rambled on about one scene long enough XD Hope you enjoyed this analysis, and have a great day!

Thoughts&Feelings on ''Pete you gotta let go, I'm gonna catch you?''
Tumblr media
Well, my first and immediate thought was that he’s a big fat liar because he totally didn’t catch him.  😂😂
But on a more serious note.  When the ship takes off the first thing Tony does, aside from following, is to make sure that FRIDAY deploys the Iron Spider.  There had to be a hundred things on his mind right then but getting Peter into some actual armor that will allow him to breathe was at the top of his list.
When he finally catches up with the ship and tells Peter that he had to let go there is an obvious edge to his voice.  You can practically hear him thinking ‘I need to get you back to Earth where you’re safe-’ on repeat during that entire exchange.
Once the Iron Spider catches Peter, Tony could take off to assess the situation inside of the ship but he doesn’t.  He stays until he’s sure that Peter is breathing and has regained consciousness before promptly ordering FRIDAY to ‘send him home.’  Space is the absolutely last place he wants Peter to be and he puts that above the mission.
Later, when Peter expresses his loyalty, you can see this look of sheer horror on Tony’s face, which is followed up by him confirming that he did not want Peter there.  Not because he thought he was incapable but because it was space and space/aliens are something that he’s perceived as the ultimate threat since the battle of New York and even more so after Wanda messed with his head in Sokovia.
We know he doesn't see Peter as incapable because once he accepts that Peter is there and that there is nothing he can do about that at the moment, he immediately fills him in on what’s happening, asks his opinion, and goes through with his plan.
But going back to the line ‘Pete, you gotta let go. I’m gonna catch you’ ... He didn’t call him Kid.  He called him Pete.  Once the immediate threat had passed, he went right back to being,’ Kid’ again.  That alone tells us exactly how scared he was at that moment.

More FFH Thoughts
Can we just talk about how Far From Home’s overall theme is this idea that someone needs to step up and fill this huge, gaping hole that Tony Stark (read: RDJ) left in the world?
And at the end of the movie, the big reveal is that, despite still being relatively new in this game and awfully young, Peter Parker is the one that has to step up and do it.
He doesn’t have to be Tony Stark, but he does have to fill what used to be Tony’s role, to be the new face of the Avengers.
I mean, we all knew this was coming. They’ve been setting this passing-of-the-torch up since CACW
But this moment is so important, and I’m glad that they did it in such an overt way
This is a critical film for the MCU
I know we’ve had Phases 1-3, but this is the first time we’ve had a major turnover in the original cast--the first time without RDJ
And you can feel his absence in this film
But the beauty in that is this: you’re supposed to miss him
The on-screen world misses Tony Stark, but we, the people in those theater seats, miss him too
And a lot of us are skeptical about whether or not the franchise can go on without him
In many ways, FFH mirrors this trepidation we have about the future of the MCU now that Tony Stark--now that RDJ--has stepped down
We’re all asking the same question Nick Fury asks Peter Parker:
Who’s going to step up?
And just like we’ve been known that Peter was going to fill Tony’s role, we also knew Tom Holland was being groomed to fill some of the empty spaces that RDJ left behind
RDJ held Tom’s hand through the last film, showed him the ropes, introduced him to this massive world
Just like Tony Stark held Peter’s hand and eased him into the world of superhero-ing
And that was all cute and fun until we realized there was no one there to be that mentor, anymore
So we all held our breath as Peter saved the world for the first time without a safety net to catch him if he fell
Just like we held our breath as we watched Tom Holland carry this movie for the first time without RDJ’s massive presence to back him up
And, well, spoiler alert: Peter Parker did save the world and Tom Holland was great
Basically, this is just a long-winded way of saying exactly what Pepper did at the end of Endgame... we’re going to be okay.
Honestly, that’s exactly how I feel--like a teary mess that really does not want to see RDJ go, but is happy for him at the same time because he carried this franchise for eleven years and, just like Tony, he deserves to rest
The MCU isn’t going to be the same, of course, and we’re going to miss him for a while, but there’s hope for the future.
If there’s one thing that FFH made abundantly clear--it’s that Tony Stark continues to be the hero in our hearts, even after he’s gone.
And he’ll continue to live on in these movies
Because Tom Holland has a little bit of RDJ in him in the same way that Peter Parker will always carry a little bit of Tony Stark.
RDJ trusted Tom to be the “future of cinema”
Tony trusted Peter to be the “next Tony Stark”
And I can honestly say that I’m excited to watch that come to life.

The other day, my classmate said the first Iron Man movie sucked, and a little offended, I countered with,“But the character development was so good in that one!”
He responded, “Well, when you start with the worst person ever, character development is pretty easy.”
Honestly, a fair point! That said, I don’t think it applies to Tony. Tony before Iron Man 1 was not a great dude, but I’m gonna go through some reasons why I don’t think he was particularly terrible, either. Certainly not the worst person ever. I’d like to take this time to clarify this is merely MCU Tony, and all my evidence will be from the movies! :)
Here are the things people usually take issue with about younger Tony: the fact that he was a weapons dealer, a playboy, and overall, just selfish.
Now I definitely see where people come from with the first one. Being a weapons dealer isn’t exactly the most admirable career choice; it’s profiting off of war and that’s… not an ideal job. Not to mention, his weapons were being sold to the other side, too. To terrorists. Like… yikes.
But look at it this way: ask yourself why he made weapons.
Naive as it is, he probably wanted to help people.
I really, truly believe Tony thought he was helping people with his weapons.
You might be going, “But how could building weapons ever possibly help people?” As I said, it was a naive thing for Tony to think, but you can tell by his actions that he wants to help people, even before being captured and almost dying, like, 700 times.
Look at the way he interacts with the soldiers in the car (before they’re attacked) in Iron Man 1. He’s a tad stiff, but he’s clearly happy to take pictures with them, talk to them, have fun with them. It’s not a bother to him. In fact, he actually goes out of his way to make them feel more at ease, to make them laugh because he knows they are working so hard to keep innocent Americans safe. And it’s not just so he can convince the army to buy his weapons, either, because these are just normal soldiers. They’re not the ones making the purchases.
He wants to help them, to make a few moments of the war easier for them.
Back to the question at hand; have you considered that maybe he wants to produce weapons because he wants to protect those soldiers? That’s a naive mindset to have, but come on; how many civilians can say they truly know what it’s like out there, on the battlefield? We’re all naive.
Before you point out, “You need evidence to claim that’s why he became a weapon manufacturer,” think about the weapons you see in the first movie. You see weapons that don’t require soldiers beyond initiation of the launch. You see missiles and bombs—things that are fired remotely. You hear about his most legendary inventions (in the little introduction film from 36hrs before the attack), and they’re described as using “satellite targeting,” which also means humans aren’t needed on the battlefield to launch them. These are the things he is famous for, and they’re things that keep those American soldiers off the battlefield. You don’t hear about things like guns or grenades. You hear about soldier-less weapons.
If you’re still not convinced about his motives, I get it.
You think he should have known his weapons wouldn’t work like that. He should have seen them ending up in the wrong hands, and he should have been less naive. Tony should have thought about war for about 10 seconds and realized that, obviously, things aren’t that clean cut. So, you’re not convinced he really cares about people. You think he only cares about money because he had to have known better, and if he cared about people, he wouldn’t have sold weapons at all.
Sure, it seems like he would have been able to piece together that terrorists would end up with the weapons, but I truly don’t believe he did. I mean, the day he got back from being in Afghanistan, he was already ceasing the sale of his weapons. He found out innocent people (by that I merely mean people who weren’t terrorists) were being hurt with his weapons, then as soon as he was able, he shut it all down.
If he’d really started off as an irredeemably terrible person, one only interested in making profit, he would have done what terrible people do: turn away. He would have come home and averted his eyes from what he’d seen while in captivity.
But he didn’t. He immediately worked on righting his wrongs. Terrible people don’t do that. Terrible people don’t get that much better. Greedy people don’t do that. Greedy people ignore the facts in their own self interest.
To summarize, you know when holidays rolled around in, like, kindergarten, and your teacher made your class write those nice letters to deployed soldiers? Tony physically went to Afghanistan, personally communicated and bonded with U.S. soldiers, and made those few precious minutes they got to spend with him memorable. It’s quite possible, to Tony, that his sale of weapons was just one of those nice letters kindergarten teachers made you write. One that could actually save people’s lives. He truly thought what he was doing was helpful and heroic. Maybe that’s his father’s voice in his ears, maybe it’s naivete, but from his actions and words, you can tell that was 100% what he thought.
Phew! Next up on that list, we have his playboy lifestyle. Now, I’m not going to take too long on this one ‘cuz it’s fairly simple.
It comes down to this: it’s okay to be promiscuous.
Okay, it’s not always okay, but look at the way Tony was a playboy. He wasn’t looking for a steady relationship, nor did he ever lead people to believe he was. Every person who agreed to sleep with him, did so knowing full well it would be a one time deal. No one expected a relationship, and if they did, that wasn’t due to Tony misleading them. And there’s nothing wrong with that kind of playboy-ing because both parties fully consented to that. One night stands between two single, consenting adults are completely allowed. There’s nothing illegal or even morally wrong about that lifestyle in the modern world.
Tony being a playboy never made him a bad person.
Finally, the whole selfish deal. For the most part, I’ll give you skeptics that one. He was selfish! And I’m not gonna spew some, “But everyone is selfish,” BS because he was way more selfish than could be considered socially acceptable. Pre-Iron-Man Tony was, undeniably, an asshole.
He had zero consideration for other people.
I could defend that with how he was raised by a selfish man and how he probably acts selfish as a coping mechanism because he’s scared of getting close to, and then losing, other people. But I know that’s no excuse. You can distance yourself from attachment without being a dick.
My only defense for that part of him was that he did try with the most important stuff. It wasn’t a very wholehearted try, nor a very successful one, but you can tell he does care. When Pepper revealed it was her birthday before Tony left for Afghanistan, he doesn’t really make up excuses for forgetting. He begrudgingly acknowledges that he should have remembered by simply telling her she’s allowed to buy herself anything she wants with his money. Yeah, it’s impersonal, but you can tell he values people as human beings. If only a little.
Besides, people who are wholly, disgustingly selfish wouldn’t be able to keep friends like Rhodey around, and Tony was able to.
In the end, being an asshole just makes you an asshole. It doesn’t make you, “the worst person ever.” Unlike being a murderous monster who sells weapons out of a selfish place in that hole where your heart is supposed to be, being an asshole can be entirely redeemed. So, unlike the other parts of Tony, I think being selfish is one of his lesser issues.
Overall, I never really saw Iron Man 1 as a story about Tony’s morals getting better because—if you’ve paid attention to any of this long piece of writing I hope you’ve realized that—his morals weren’t ever really in the wrong place. He meant well. From the very beginning, he meant well. His morals were fine.
Iron Man 1 marked nothing more than a change in Tony’s behavior. He didn’t change as a person. All that happened was he realized that the way he was attempting to help people wasn’t working, and he changed the way he was helping people, so it was actually effective. Weapon manufacturing backfired, and he moved to the invention of Iron Man instead.
Iron Man 1 wasn’t a story about a terrible person becoming a hero.
It was about a man who had always tried to be a hero finally succeeding.

I saw on the original post of these gifts the reblogs and...wow. Not the people saying "Tony reacts like that because that's what Steve tried to tell him before!! #antitonystark"
What actually Steve said: This job... We try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn't mean everybody, but, if we can't find a way to live with that, Next time... maybe nobody can be saved.
Peter is basically saying he can't live with the knowledge of not helping everyone, Steve is saying that they have to learn to live with it because it's better saving someone than not saving everyone.
While I think Steve is not an asshole and doesn't like when someone dies, I also think that Peter and Steve are not guided by the same morality. Steve accept the fact a lot of people die with his job, Peter and Tony don't. They can't accept the fact they cannot save everyone, they feel responsible for every damage they cause. That's why Tony had that look, because he related to Peter's words. That's literally the point of why he wanted the accords.
Tony blames him self and not just for Ultron. He blamed himself since IM1. When he said "I just finally know what I have to do, and i know in my heart that's it's right" and right before that he mentioned the soldiers who were killed by his weapons, even if it wasn't directly his fault. You can se the parallels between the two of them, they both blames themselves for everything.
Were the accords bad? Yes. Were they needed? Also, Yes. The idea of the accords was good because if I was one of the civilians like Zemo I would want them, and you cannot say otherwise if you were in their place.
So yes, I still think Peter would have been on Team Iron Man anyway because Peter would never turn his back on the civilians (He sacrifices his identity for them, he sacrificed his whole life for them). Even if he didn't like the accords, he would have accepted them and willed to change them. Peter and Tony have the same guilt, the same morale. Tony choose Peter because he saw himself in him, and Peter found comfort in Tony because he was the only one who understood him (Like confirmed in IW novelization).
Tony was the best person to mentor him.

I saw your Iron Heart fic (cute so far!) and wanted to ask; what are your thoughts on Iron Dad, canon wise? Like how we see Peter and him interact in the mcu?
Thank you!
As for irondad, I love the idea of it. I think Tony does have potential to be an amazing fatherly figure. He certainly has witnessed what a not so great father is like.
As for what we see canonically, I’d say his relationship, especially the beginning is questionable to say the least. Remember, Tony is an adult. A smart one. A sometimes self serving one, with his own motivations. He doesn’t just seek Peter out because “oh hey this kid is starting the hero thing and looks up to me and I could mentor him”. It’s mainly “oh this kid loves iron man, is now a strong superhuman and a good fighter who wants to do good, and I could totally get him to fight with and for my cause.” He knew with how much Peter admired him, he couldn’t say no. He’d stand by Tony, probably no matter what. Tony was banking on that.
Yes, later on in Infinity War and Endgame we see how much Peter has come in his meaning to Tony, but I wouldn’t just forget how that all started. Irondad, no matter how sweet, is not without flaws. To deny that is to deny the real essence, wonderfulness, and tragedy of the end.

Ravasaki by Giannis Kapsalis
Okay so I feel like this is about a person? Possibly a love song? It also gives me beach vibes for some reason. Very summer-y (if that makes sense, idk). I listen to it and immediately I just think "beach".
On an unrelated note, this song's composition sounds very similar to that of any general Arabic song. Everything from (some of the) music to the way the guy was singing it. I think that's super cool 😁

It makes sense Peter Parker uses pop culture references a lot when fighting. Aliens, Empire Strikes Back, etc, he doesn't have anyone to teach him how to fight. He doesn't have Uncle Ben or his father (he barely has Tony Stark but not in the way of combat training) so he relies on the movies that not only taught him what it means to be a hero, but how to fight like one. So when he's fighting at the airplane scene in Civil War, and he makes a Star Wars reference, he's not only being the comic relief, it says a lot about his character and how little he has to rely on when it comes to being a superhero

I think Peter has a great development in FFH, and one that people sadly go through in the real world: struggling with grief but realizing life goes on. You suggested you analyze Peter’s grief in FFH and I would love that, emotional as it is, it’s inspiring for people going through the same thing. Please do it! Thanks
Hi!
I was going to do the Happy one first but I’ve been wanting to do this one for a while, so I’m going to start with this analysis. Hope you guys don’t mind. Also, I’m sure they were more asks about the FFH one and I’m sorry if I didn’t include yours in the list but my inbox is a mess right now, so I apologize.
As an expert-master of grief that I am lol I think I really can read Peter pretty well in this movie, one of the reasons I was avoiding this analysis was because it’s too painful for me hahaha, it hits close to home.
Now, let’s track this down. Peter is just a kid but this kid has been through so much, it’s painful. Peter lost his parents and was sent to live with his aunt and uncle, then he, unfortunately, had to see his father figure; Ben Parker, die in front of him and the result of that gave him a sense of responsibility for the rest of his life:
‘When you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you.‘
He's always walking around with a ton of traumatic and painful memories.
Let’s be honest, he believes he ‘killed’ his own uncle, that it was because of him that Ben is dead. It happened because of him from his perspective. So it’s natural for this boy to pass through a long process of grief but here’s the catch, Peter never does. Peter always avoids tragedy until it piles up to the point of unbearable. Peter bears with his responsibility and holds himself accountable for things that are not even his fault but this kid is not capable of processing grief the way it’s supposed to be. I think he wasn’t completely healed of his grief from Ben’s death when he met Tony but as the time passed and he saw another opportunity of having that amazing experience of having another male parental figure, he relented. And now I bet he regrets it.
I kinda wish FFH went into more detail with this so certain fans would understand why having Tony was a good thing for Peter. As he got to know Tony, he started to let him in. He saw him as a father figure and relied on him just like any other teenager would with their parents. Peter was starting to process of healing with Tony. One of the things I love the most about their relationship is that they helped each other grow. Tony learned and experienced something new when he met Peter and Peter started to let another figure into his life.
Many of you don’t like this but this kid did want Tony’s approval. He confirmed this himself:
In all the weirdness and outside-of-himselfness that went along with becoming Spider-Man, that one conversation with Mr. Stark had made Peter feel . . . okay. Normal, even. Something he never thought he'd feel again. Peter knew he should feel all these things without needing Mr. Stark's approval. That your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man didn't need the approval of multibillionaire, Super Hero philanthropists to help out the people on his block. But, right now? Peter wanted Mr. Stark to approve of him more than anything.
And this translates into the movie so well, Tony made Peter feel normal, made him feel understood and that he didn’t need to do this alone. Peter always feels like he’s the only one that can do things. He feels alone.
He looked from the ship to the other kids on the bus to see if anyone else saw it. Nothing. Just him. As usual.
He even described Ned as ‘blissfully ignorant of any imminent danger.’
So after getting used to just him and May, after meeting Tony, after getting used to being Spider-Man, Peter creates a sense of stability and normalcy that helps him heal and continue with his life at a semi-normal pace. In Endgame, he loses that stability all over again. When you lose something that is essentially keeping you together, you start using coping mechanisms to fill in the spots that you consider empty. The ones that are going to break you. Peter doesn’t feel ready to handle all of that pain at once so he starts avoiding the issue.
Peter not only lost Tony, but he also lost his life and remembers fighting in a big war where he got attacked multiple times by an alien army and the mad titan that killed him, Tony and half of the universe. Nobody is ready to deal with that kind of trauma. Nobody.
FFH tells us that it’s been 8 months since The Blip. 8 months Peter’s been avoiding things related to Tony and everything related to Titan in general. He doesn't want to feel the weight of all-consuming grief because one minute he had everything and the next, that disappeared, his semi-normalcy was broken up by waves of tragedy.
Notice how in HOCO he was desperately seeking the superhero big-league adventures; wanting to be part of the Avengers, fighting crime on a bigger scale, fighting villains and more, then in FFH, he was desperately seeking the normal life experiences; romance, field trips, school events, etc.
And I think everyone around him can feel that coming from him so they make sure to reassure him all the time and he gratefully accepts any kind of reassuring comfort he can get from anyone:

There are so many hugs in this movie, I can’t keep track of all of them. I was surprised Peter didn’t hug Mr. Delmar too, I think he even hugged his teacher on one occasion lmao
I think we all know who was the last person Peter hugged before all of this:
Tumblr media
It’s really sad when he’s trying his hardest to avoid all of his trauma and nothing seems to work for him. He avoids Fury’s calls, tells May he really needs a break and that he really needs the trip, everything to get as far away as possible from New York.
Anything that saves him from thinking about this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First, look at him. He’s in a room full of drawings dedicated to Tony Stark and the kid is talking about a plan on how to woo a girl, even Ned is wondering what is going on. Then he advises him to not do any of that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, on the plane, he has to actually listen to his teacher talk about funerals and his only entertainment from the rest of the trip is:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then he arrives and they get attacked by a gigantic monster. And Peter fights this monster. He hears his classmates discuss this and he hears them call Mysterio a combination of Iron Man and Thor. Notice how after this, instead of calling someone for help or find out where did that monster comes from, he just starts talking about his plan all over again, like nothing happened. Anything related to Tony is a big nope for him.
Unfortunately for Peter:
Tumblr media
He’s everywhere. Peter is starting to realize he can’t escape Tony anymore. He told Happy that he sees his face everywhere he goes, this is not only confirmation that Peter’s been trying to avoid it but that he can’t no longer pretend Tony’s not there.
On every occasion someone brought up Tony, Peter couldn’t handle it. He either breaks down or has a panic attack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He quickly gets attached to someone else and even tells Beck that it’s nice to have someone to talk to about the superhero world, who used to do that with him? Tony. Peter deeply misses him but he’s not willing to accept the fact that he’s gone, he’s just pushing and pushing that reality away from him. Beck is a great manipulator and he can see that Peter doesn’t want to be reminded of this so he pushes Peter back on the topic: ‘It's a hard path. You see things, you do things... Make choices. People look up to you... Even if you win a battle sometimes, they die.’
He even MAKES Peter see Tony everywhere, he’s using Tony’s death against him. He’s taking advantage of the fact that the poor kid can’t handle his father figure’s death:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know he’s the villain and you what he’s trying to do, but the fact that even he can see what Peter’s trying to do is really sad. He later tells Peter this: ‘ I tried to help you walk away. Now you're making me do this…’ and proceeds to show him Tony’s grave, Iron Man’s zombie suit and tells him what Peter’s been thinking this whole time: ‘If you were good enough, maybe Tony would still be alive’
He’s dealing with two things at the same time: grief and trauma. His grief won’t let him breathe and his trauma is not letting him forget. It’s back and forth. If he lets any of these things in, then he knows he’s done for sure. Everything is going to come back in.
Let's check the boxes:
Peter doesn’t want to remember or touch anything related to Tony.
He doesn’t want to deal with his own trauma/PTSD.
He doesn’t want to carry Tony’s legacy. He feels like he’s not ready and feels like he’s never going to be ready for that.
He’s desperately trying to live his life even if he feels like he’s breaking apart every 5 minutes.
This kid needs help lmao
There are occasions where he spaces out, gets angry, looks like he’s about to choke, etc.
These are the symptoms of someone who’s dealing with PTSD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you’re dealing with trauma, you feel the need to shield yourself from everything that might hurt or trigger you. In some parts of the movie, I felt like Peter wasn’t even there. Just think about it. He disappeared and he felt himself disappear before anyone else did. He lost his sense of reality for a couple of seconds but it was enough, life took too much from him in just those seconds. For him, it was 5 minutes but in reality, he lost 5 years. On top of that, you can tell he feels guilty for Tony’s death as well even if its not his fault.
This is the part that haunts me:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is the one that heals me:
Tumblr media
Let’s be clear, this movie is about Peter learning how to be his own superhero and learning that it’s ok if he doesn’t meet other’s expectations. But this kid still needs to process grief, he still needs to work on his traumas, he needs to get some help. He doesn’t just heal after defeating the villain and that’s it. Hopefully, we’ll see that in the next movie.
Ok, off-topic but I swear, when Beck said Peter looked stupid with Tony’s glasses, I was about to throw some serious hands lmaooo
Thnx♥
