how some people can look at Zhongli and Venti's dialogue during this Lantern Rite and interpret it as beefing instead of, you know, flirting truly blows my mind? like it's not just what they're saying, but also the way they're saying it. it's flirting, they're flirting. and even if they aren't flirting, that's obviously an inside joke? look at Venti's face when Zhongli acts like they're strangers, does it look like someone who can't stand the other and isn't willing to play along with the other's dumb idea? please. I don't understand how people can still think they hate each other even tho it's established that they're friends, not only through items lore and their own character stories (I really doubt someone like Zhongli would let a guy he hates forge his sigil, let him destroy his precious vase, let him pour wine on his head, and then yearn for him for 500 years bffr), but also in the first Liyue Archon quest Zhongli talks about "a friend from Mondstadt" who used to bring him wine all the time, and Venti has a "refined gentleman friend from Liyue" he wishes he could spend more time with. a friend he still visits often, so much so that madame Ping commissioned Tubby to make a Mondstadt-inspired house for the teapot with good acoustics so he could play inside with no problem.

Hi! I feel like I might be making something up, but did there used to be more posts in your Kenobi-Tano AU? Specifically about Cody and Ahsoka's relationship? I thought there a post about what happened during O66 and art about Cody's helmet? I could have sworn there were many more posts about your excellent Kenobi-Tano AU but now I feel like I'm imagining things
Hi!
No, you’re not imagining things. I revamped my blog a while back, removing many of the KTAU and Star Wars stuff. As an explanation, I felt that it was no longer a representation of what my blog is about (i.e., no longer a star wars blog). I’ve left some of my favourite SW art on my blog, but the new home of all my old SW stuff is @thestarwarsartsideblog.
I won’t be posting any future SW-related things to this blog, or that one, I think. I’ve kinda made my peace and moved on from SW.
edit: to the lovely people popping over to follow @thestarwarsartsideblog, just want to make it clear I won't be posting to it in the future.

re: your poetry post, can you give some pointers as to where to learn the rhyming patterns in poetry and the like? i only ever see poetry from the ideas/feelings perspective, but ive never learned the logic and structure behind it lol
I've learned most of it from my literature and grammar classes, it's taught in our school since elementary, so I wouldn't know of any books or manuals that talk specifially about it - but I can give you a rundown of how I do it, anon, if it counts for anything lol
Prefacing that this will be starting from italian poetica because that's what I know best: any poem, but specifically the pre-futurism/1910s ones (A Lot) will have some kind of structure aside from just the ryming scheme;
The structure I am most familiar with is accentual-sillabic, so for example any single verso will have its stressed syllable in a fixed potision and occasionally a set number of sillables (eg. an endecasillablic metre means a stress on the tenth syllable, usually penultimate, equally to 11 total syllables), but there are also only accentual, or only sillabic verses, common in French poetry (?), all of which count as types of qualitative metre - as well as quantitative metre, which was more widley used in Latin and Greek poetry and which rather based itself on patterns of syllable weight (something that I know little about tbh; I think it's based on the lenght of pronunciation of the actual syllable).
this, of course, goes without even mentioning free-verse structure and less well-known ones.
Going back to the rhyming scheme, that also comes into play with structure in the sense that ... there are just a lot of them to pick from. The classic is the repeated AABB one, where each verse will rhyme with the one underneath (''kissing rhyme'' in italian), or the alterning ABAB, the crossed ABBA, the 'chained' or third rhyme ABA BCB CDC used for terzine, and plenty more!
That's not all the ways to classify rhymes of course: you have plain rhyme between words accented on the penultimate syllable, cut rhyme between words accented on the last, sdrucciola with accents on the third-to-last, bisdrucciola on the fourth-to-last... etc etc
Then, of course, come the classifications in stanza lenghts! Groups of three verses are a terzina, well known for being Dante's favourite number (joke inserted to lighten this infodump), groups of four a quatrina, etc -
and depending on the number of single groups and on the type of verses in them, you have further classification as canzone, ode, madrigale, carme, filastrocca, ballata, sonetto... the latter for example is made of fourteen endecasyllabic verses grouped in two quartine, one in the beginning and one in the end, in crossed or alternate rhyme, and two terzine with any kind of rhyme structre.
this of course doesn't touch on the inner things and games of poem structure like the falling rhyme, spaces in between groups, enjambement, alliteration, allegorical figures, anafore, onomatopee, and all that fun stuff!
Essentially when you see a poem look for the number of syllables in each verse, where the stressed syllable falls, how the rhymes are put, how many verses are in each stanza and strofa...

when i was born, my mother gave a gift to me called Grief,
for many years unwanted kid like me read fairy tales
and foolishly mistook that gift with Care
because the vinyl records in our living room
were playing gentle lullabies into my ears
they drowned out man's yelling and the woman's cries
i didn't know the mother's hands should not be cold
i didn't know the bitter drinks in glasses smell like death
not knowing any better, i grew up her perfect copy –
the same dead look, dramatic outbursts and mourning of life
i longed for love but how can one discover something never seen?
it only grazed my heart in bathtubs, drawn by a path of pills
the actress passed a cursed theatric play to only child –
the ghost of one, who danced with Death more often
than with other people; her hugs were cold, awaited and familiar
tonight i take a cigarette and put it in between my bleeding lips
unknown singer lights it up for me, and suddenly i breathe –
your flame feels warm
your eyes see me
your touch is nothing but a gift of Care
so maybe if you sing the lullabies for me
the Death will never interrupt us
she won't dare

you never know what you'll get (the weather report is always wrong)
sometimes I feel like I could spontaneously combust
light up and let go
burn for a while and maybe it'll be so hot it gets cold
cool off and set it free
nobody in the world with me but me
freeze to death and burn back to life
dawn of the final days
when everything else is gonna fade away
the ambiguity is the charm, third season around
for once I'm the one who stays
what will the weather be like today?
either I end up burnt to a crisp or with frostbitten hands
one way is a light
the other just happens in the night
~ xoxo, Love yoU

the people have spoken!!!
here's everything that could've been for the costume design contest:
other design thoughts:
i originally wanted to create something for laphlaes,, but i was having too many difficulties so i ended up switching over to lairei instead (sorry grandpa)
the overall idea of having something fancy & elegant stayed the same,, but the only major thing that changed was the character i was drawing for
lairei's look is centered around the idea of a fancy night out,, with outfit elements showing similarities to her base design
base design similarities i wanted were styled hair, necklaces, a large fur collar of some kind (in this case a shawl), a long dress, thigh slits, a relatively open back, and a deeply cut neckline
i'd say the main inspo from her other looks would be her "midnight edition" look,, with the same overall fanciness but More Casual and Less Elaborate??
i was tempted to give her a dark red lip to match her darker eyeshadow but i'm not too fond of how that might match her other elements so i settled for a soft pink
