What better way to describe what happened 2day in F1 by using this template. Lewis Hamilton, congrats for making the silly season extra chilli like Carlos Sainz likes.
See what I did there?? But I feel bad for Carlos Sainz. No one deserves to be treated like that but yeah F1 is a cutthroat sport.

so Candace Owens has been fired from the Daily Wire, allegedly for making claims about Rabbis drinking the blood of Christian babies. The replies to the tweet by the Daily Wire's CEO announcing her firing are definitely not full of neo-Nazis pledging their support for her, so that's cool

Interview went well. This job is basically all the bits of my previous job that I enjoyed, minus the bits I hated, and they actually skipped several questions because I had already covered relevant experience in a previous example I gave. They have four more interviews but want to get this wrapped up quickly and said I will know by Thursday or Friday.

Part 5 of my MLP Magicalverse Mane 6 redesigns! Applejack is the second to last of the series!
Applejack is the tallest of the Mane 6 because of course XD
AJ possesses her dad's hat and her mom's bandana. They were passed down to her before their...death? Disappearance? Even the Apple Family doesn't know either :(
After the events of Friendship is Magic Parts 1-2 and rediscovering earth pony magic thanks to Twilight Dusk and her friends, AJ is trying to use it to benefit the apple farm more, but she finds out that it can get out of control for her. She would rather stick to her old traditional ways of apple-bucking...Don't worry, AJ still gets to use her earth pony magic abilities in case of high-stake emergencies.
One more to come!

No no get started on the whole "new adult" thing, I desperately want to hear
Ok, so here's the thing about New Adult:
It's a genre that's been emerging lately in the catalogs I view when doing frontlists (essentially just pre-orders for upcoming titles) for the book store and I'd been wondering what the hell it was. I'd noticed it was especially common in the descriptors for the romance books, but it was often the ones with that sort of sexy-but-not-full-blown-erotica kind of book that also tended to have the sort of description full of fanfic trope terms and "for fans of [usually a Young Adult title]" or "like [popular title] combined with [other popular title]!!" <- and here it's important to note that the popular titles don't always sound like they would mesh well.
And finally, FINALLY, one of these books is highlighted by the sales rep who works with us and she's got a little blurb about it and I get my first useful description of what "New Adult" is:
"Imagine the golden age of YA - The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Mortal Instruments - but aged up and spicy."
S P I C Y
Which would explain why they're not-quite-erotica type books, you see, we're not straight up PORN we're just ✨️spicy✨️
Nevermind that a lot of these books do have sex in them, but whatever, it's SPICY because that's what's popular to say on BookTok!
Oh. Right. Yeah. BookTok also gets mentioned a lot in listings for this sort of title.
And yes, this includes the Court of... books by Sarah J Maas and things like The Infatuated Fae books by Jeaneane O'Riley. In fact, I'm pretty sure O'Riley was described as a "BookTok darling" in the contributor bio part of the listing, but don't quote me on that, I'd have to look at the listing again.
Anyway, these are some of the biggest offenders regarding that whole "we will describe this with fanfic buzz terms and BookTok girlies will eat it up :)" issue.

i just think "due to being Not Humans they have no gender and don't fuck. because of their biology." feels so fucking flat next to "they have incorporated themselves into human society over millennia and understand the shifting social meanings surrounding various facets of identity and could have had any option available to them gender- and sexuality-wise but they chose to be agender and ace" like the first one is like. okay cool you've acknowledged that gender and sexuality are arbitrary and thanks for the worldbuilding i guess. and the second one is queer

Yesss more of your writing is always a gift!! ❤️Can I be cheeky and do two/you can choose: ☠️☕️
💛💛💛 darling!! 💛💛💛 I am gonna go for Lonely Bones bc that's what my brain is latching onto rn (plus I've had lots of Domestic AU requests so I'll defo be posting some later!), but lbr since you're practically my domestic co-writer you're gonna get lots of sneak peeks of that anyway xD ☠️ Even Charles was beginning to show the strain through his erstwhile bulletproof veneer of optimism. Edwin kept catching him staring with a haunted look; as if he half expected Edwin to vanish in a puff of smoke before his very eyes. There was a marked increase in the frequency of grounding hands on Edwin’s arm, chest, shoulders — holding Edwin down lest he flutter away on the breeze.

you're all missing the point. yes, baseball is boring. but you don't go to a baseball game to watch the game. you go to hang out with your friends and eat overpriced hot dogs and bet on which condiment will win the foot race

I've always found it a bit disappointing that Linda Hutcheon specifically excluded fanfic from her generally excellent discussion of adaptation in A Theory of Adaptation, because I do think fanfic is more akin to adaptation than probably any other thing it gets compared to.
Like, for me, what makes both really intriguing are questions like:
How does this story function as a story in its own right? How do you experience it if you don't know its source material? Does it work? Do you need certain kinds of background knowledge? Are people likely to experience it separately from its source or other versions of the source even if they are familiar with them?
How is this story engaging with the original or previous version it's working off of? What does it consider essential to keep from its source or canon? What is it willing to change? What assumptions govern both of those things?
How does this particular story take part in wider trends in storytelling that may or may not have anything to do with its source or canon? Where do fads or norms in broader storytelling contexts come into play? (For instance, film adaptations may resemble other contemporary films more than their source materials, fanfic goes through phases of popular structures, premises, and phrasings that cut through different fandoms. Or you can look at both in a broad cultural context beyond their immediate social context of fandom/film/whatever.)
I mean, I'm phrasing the questions in a kind of formal way, but I think the basic questions do factor into a lot of the more localized conversations that spring up around both adaptation and fanfic (whether specific adaptations/fics or general groupings of them). So much general discourse around fanfic revolves around the legitimacy of writing versions of pre-existing stories and it's like!! Adaptation is right there.
