Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, urged Israel on Tuesday to set a clear time limit for the Islamist terror organization to release all remaining Israeli and international hostages held in the Gaza Strip.
Yousef, who has become a vocal opponent of Hamas, even urged Israel to kill Hamas leaders, including his own father, if the terror organization does not release the hostages.
Yousef, who said he understands the Hamas mentality better than most people on the outside, emphasizes that neither Israel nor the international community can afford to release the "mass murderers" held in Israeli prisons in exchange for the hostages being held captive in Gaza.
"Hamas has been waging psychological warfare against humanity," he began.
They want to release thousands of mass murderers back to the streets in return for the Israeli hostages. Israel cannot afford this, but also humanity cannot afford this because the release of mass murderers... means the death of many other innocent people," Yousef said.
His father, Sheikh Hassan Yousef, recognized as a spiritual leader within the Hamas organization and serves as the terror group’s spokesperson in the West Bank, has spent many years in Israeli jail for terrorism-related incitement.
On Oct. 19, Israeli forces arrested Yousef’s father once again, as part of the ongoing strategic operation to eliminate senior Hamas officials, also in Judea and Samaria, internationally known as the West Bank.
The former Hamas prince said he understood recent Israeli compromises driven by the urgency to release abducted Israeli women, children and elderly in Gaza.
"I understand that Israel had to compromise in the past week or two in order to release children, women, elders, and defenseless civilians," Yousef said.
youtube
However, he stressed that Israel must stop compromising and shift its focus toward eliminating Hamas.
Yousef urged that "the remaining hostages – especially soldiers, [and] those who failed to defend themselves and defend the civilians in the southern communities when they were captured – should be treated as war prisoners and Israel must shift its priority from a hostage rescue mission to an offensive that focuses on eradicating Hamas."
In October, Yousef told Fox News that Israel should “finish Hamas rule in Gaza.”
“It is the time to win the war against the most brutal terrorist organization living today,” Yousef urged.
Last week, Yousef warned the international community of the consequences if Hamas survives as a military and political force in Gaza during his speech at The Mission of Israel to the UN.
“If Hamas is not eradicated in Gaza, we will set the model, we will give the freedom to so many radical groups around the world."
Regarding Hamas endangering the lives of innocent civilians in Gaza they are supposed to protect, Yousef emphasized: “This crime – none of us should forgive this crime. Gambling with children's blood for political gain? It doesn't get worse than this.”
“So Israel now got stained by blood," he continued. "This is what Hamas wanted to happen from Day 1. They wanted to sacrifice thousands of children so Israel can take the blame…”
He blasted Hamas as “savages” who perpetrated unspeakable crimes against humanity, against both Israeli and Gazan civilians.
“If Israel fails in Gaza, all of us will be next,” he emphasized.
Yousef who no longer keeps in contact with his family, defected from the terrorist group in the late '90s and cooperated with Israel's security services to expose and prevent several Hamas terrorist attacks. He described his remarkable story of leaving the radical movement in his bestselling book Son of Hamas in 2010. He also describes in the book how he left Islam and found faith in Jesus.

Who gives a fuck what you feel as if you don't despise arabs and islam.
ah, you got me there anon 😔 you're right, I'm an Islamophobic Arabophobic asshole because I view them as people capable of thinking and making rational decisions instead of what we all know they ACTUALLY are: quirky desert people who drink sand and wear funny clothes and have to kill Israelis because they simply don't know any better!!!/s
in all seriousness I assume you're talking about me condemning Hamas because I literally haven't said anything against Palestinian civilians or civilians of any other Arab country (nor am I here). I'm not against Islam, I'm not against Arabs, I'm against an extremist terrorist group who wants me and my family dead. and it just so happens that this group is Muslim and Arab! You know how ProPals always insist criticism of the Israeli government isn't antisemitic (a true statement I wish they'd actually deliver on)? you're basically applying the opposite of that logic here. criticism of Hamas is Islamophobic because, well, they're Muslims! and not treating every Muslim as perfect human being capable of doing no wrong is Islamophobic, actually. istg the way you people talk about Muslims and Arabs is so utterly dehumanising. ever heard of the noble savage trope?

Another first hand account. Y a kibbutznik who felt like they were being hunted. The murderers, rapists, and savages in 10-7 were NOT just Hamas. A large number and high percentage were Gaza civilians - both men, women, and children who participated in the barbarity of these massacres.

Okay so I've seen a lot of non-Arab Americans on here calling Palestinians martyrs in english lately and PLEASE STOP DOING THAT IT DOESN'T MEAN WHAT YOU THINK
Unlike in Christianity, martyr in Islam means more than just dying for religion/a cause. Arabic and the Quran even have 2 words for it! Shaheed (شاحيد), the version that is used to refer to Palestinians, covers a lot of people. To my understanding (I'm not Muslim), it refers to people who get special in honors by God in heaven and are therefore respected in society. Like, it's the most honorable way to die, almost. There are a lot of people in this group is Islam (yes ppl who die for religion but also people who die from plague, childbirth, illnesses like heart disease or organ failure, being crushed, drowning, and basically a bunch of other similar types of deaths). Most natural ways to die seem to be covered by this- other than senseless violence.
So, when calling Palestinians martyrs, arabs and Muslims basically mean that they should be honored. Kind of like, how Christians might say "rest in peace, they're in heaven now", in Islam you can say someone has been martyred. They're shaheed. They'll get an extra nice heaven.
Unless you are literally spouting Hamas propaganda (don't do that. it's a very White thing to do), martyr does NOT mean that they have died to help advance the Palestinian cause. THEY ARE NOT JESUS. They didn't die for Islam or your sins or whatever else Christians think martyr means.
It just means they are going to heaven. Please, Christians (and ex Christians) in the US stop calling Palestine people martyrs it doesn't mean what you think and you are referring to them basically the way Hamas and Israel do- as if they are all trying to advance a cause or Islam or violence
They are just people and it's sad and horrible when they die but they aren't people dying in a jihad battle for religion or freedom they're just dying
Martyr doesn't really work as an English translation of shaheed and I'd say borders on propaganda and misinformation. It also reminds people of jihadists (shaheed people who die in battle for Islam, nowadays largely terrorist groups like ISIS) and flattens all arabs into the terrorist stereotype again. Please stop using it in posts

You know what's funny with arguments like that? it's that you're using the very same arguments actual antisemites are using against Jews à la "jews are problematic vermin ! they've been regularly kicked out Europeans countries for centuries for a reason!!" "nobody wants jews in their countries"
There's a reason there's been an objective allyship between Nazi and Zionists because both ends are seeking to find a place for Jewish people : antisemites because they hate Jews and want them as far as possible, and Jewish Zionists to fulfill their fanatical religious agenda. Hitler was technically a Zionist for that reason.

Principles that so-called "leftists" have abandoned since October 7th
Being against religious fundamentalism: You guys used to think that fundamentalism was a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, you still believe that OTHER religions that are fundamentalist are bad, but Muslim right wing religious fundamentalism is very much okay with you. When you express support for religious fundamentalist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Islamic Republic, you are supporting suppression against women, LGBT people, and Jews (though the latter doesn't bother you at all). These are not resistance groups, they are terror groups.
Anti-racism: Mocking Israeli accents is suddenly funny to you. Jews aren't oppressed any more and antisemitism isn't as important as other forms of ethnic hate. It's okay to discriminate against people based on where they're from (the treatment of twenty year old Eden Golan is a particularly disgusting example). Indigeneity expires if you're Jewish. You support land back efforts for everyone but Jews. You employ the noble savage stereotype against Palestinians, because "That's just their way!" Holocaust inversion and even denial? NBD. Jews are trying to take over the world and are bloodthirsty monsters who support genocide. And the blatant tokenization is horrific. Some of you have even used the expression "Good Jews".
Being against ethnic cleansing: You bleat about the non-existent "genocide" in Palestine (and it is NOT a genocide according the the actual definition of the word), but your only solution is to ethnically cleanse Jews from the Middle East instead of supporting the two state solution.
Anti-nationalism: Jewish nationalism is bad. Arab nationalism is good. There are 22 Arab states and over fifty Muslim states, but even the two state solution in which there would be 22 Arab states, over fifty Muslim states and one Jewish state isn't enough, because Jews bad. Arab and Muslim conquest and imperialism? It's a good thing, ackchuyally!
Belief in science: Genetic studies prove that all ethnic Jews (yes, that includes Ashkenazi Jews) are indigenous to the Levant, but you guys seem to believe that we fell out of the sky. Archaeology proves that Jews were there first, but those findings are "fake" according to you.
Once again, I am asking why are you guys willing to sacrifice your principles for Palestine?

i very much do not care for the way peta did “investigative journalism” to “expose” the “evil” “truth” about halal and kosher slaughter.
Especially because some European countries are outlawing both.
This isn’t new, and I’m far from the first one to point it out, but it is absolutely something people need to continue to pay attention to. It’s absolutely being done to attack and dismantle core elements of Jewish and Islamic culture, and it’s being done to sway the Christian public into seeing Jews and Muslims as evil animal torturing savages.
This is an attempt at ethnocide. Enforced assimilation or prosecution. And I will further caution that ethnocide rarely travels without its partner, Genocide.
Don’t let this narrative spread. Learn what these practices entail and why. It is done to minimize discomfort to the animal. While it looks messy to some, it causes very little pain to the animal and death is swift. It follows very specific protocols for a reason. It is forbidden to eat food that was slaughtered poorly and suffered unnecessary pain or fear. If I were raising livestock for human consumption, I would use a similar method to cull simply because a brain can react differently to a stun gun but a throat will tend to react the same to a blade every time.
A practice not looking aesthetic enough for evangelical sensibilities does not mean it’s cruel. People naturally fear the unknown and this is very transparently being weaponized against marginalized groups

This is maybe a stupid question but do you think there's any ties between like orientalist trends in western countries that glorify dharmic religions and Hindutva? Like I've heard 'Hinduism is the oldest religion on Earth' and 'Hinduism/Buddhism are just so much more enlightened than savage Abrahamic religions' and 'how could there be war and oppression in India? Hindus don't believe in violence' from white liberals and it certainly seems *convenient* for Hindutva propaganda, at least.
Not stupid at all! Historically, orientalism precedes modern Hindutva. The notion of a unified Hinduism is actually constructed in the echo of oriental constructions of India, with Savarkar clearly modelling One Nation, One Race, One Language on westphalian nationhood. He will often draw on Max Mueller type of indology orientalists in his writing in constructing the Hindu claim to a golden past and thus an ethnostate.
In terms of modern connections you can see the use and abuse of orientalism in South Asian postcolonial studies depts in the west that end up peddling Hindutva ideology –
The geographer Sanjoy Chakravorty recently promised that, in his new book, he would “show how the social categories of religion and caste as they are perceived in modern-day India were developed during the British colonial rule…” The air of originality amused me. This notion has been in vogue in South Asian postcolonial studies for at least two decades. The highest expression of the genre, Nicholas Dirks’s Castes of Mind, was published in 2001. I take no issue with claiming originality for warmed-over ideas: following the neoliberal mantra of “publish or perish,” we academics do it all the time. But reading Chakravorty’s essay, I was shocked at the longevity of this particular idea, that caste as we know it is an artefact of British colonialism. For any historian of pre-colonial India, the idea is absurd. Therefore, its persistence has less to do with empirical merit, than with the peculiar dynamics of the global South Asian academy.
[...] No wonder that Hindutvadis in both countries are now quoting their works to claim that caste was never a Hindu phenomenon. As Dalits are lynched across India and upper-caste South Asian-Americans lobby to erase the history of their lower-caste compatriots from US textbooks, to traffic in this self-serving theory is unconscionable.
You can see writer sociologists beloved of western academia like Ashish Nandy argue for the "inherent difference of indian civilization makes secularism impossible" and posit that the caste ridden gandhian hinduism is the answer as though the congress wasn't full of hindutva-lites and that the capture of dalit radicalism by electoralism and grift is actually a form of redistribution. Sorry if thats not necessarily relevant I like to hate on him.
Then most importantly is the deployment of "Islamic Colonization" that Hindu India must be rescued from, which is merely cover for the rebrahmanization of the country. This periodization and perspective of Indian history is obviously riven up in British colonial orientalism, see Romila Thapar's work on precolonial India. Good piece on what the former means if you've not engaged with it, fundamentally it posits an eternal Hindu innocence.

i’m so sick of people saying shit like “oh but gaza is homophobic” or “well if you went there they’d kill you” to justify a literal genocide
the west, usa and uk especially loves to weaponise queer rights in order to portray middle eastern and/or islamic countries as "savage"
israel does the same, they've literally been trying to brand themselves as desirable to the west by doing events such as pride festivals and whatnot, but it's all bullshit and part of their propaganda to appeal to the west so people ignore what they're doing (research “brand israel” it’s fucking insane)
example: this bloody tweet
Tumblr media
slaughtering people supposedly in the name of queer rights is fucking disgusting and even then it is not at all what israel is doing. they're committing an ethnic cleansing and no funnily enough it's not because they love the gays
not to mention the absolute hypocrisy in the fact the usa and uk are absolute shit when it comes to queer rights and just keep getting fucking worse, it's all just a blatant excuse to justify israel's genocide of palestinians
no one can possibly try to say "oh but they're homophobic" while they're burying queer palestinians under rubble. even if that was true does that seriously fucking justify way over 25,000 murders, over 10,000 being children
fun fact! dead people can't have rights.

French Israeli piece of shit: Wanna know why the Arabs don’t protest and break and burn shit in Israel like they do in France? First Arab who walks by gets beaten up. Even the nice Arabs. The peaceful ones with nice corner shops. We beat them up, broke everything did a carnage. It’s the only language the Arabs understand, they think that as long as you’re not in the streets to kill them you’re weak and they can do whatever they want. The war, what we’re doing in Gaza hasn’t been done in a long time. What we’re doing in Gaza… you know what we’re doing. Not a single Arab in Israel is moving not even their ear unlike 2021. Not a single burned tire. Nothing because they know that Israelis, including the leftists, if they do anything we will catch them and hang them to a traffic light.
People in the conversation: That’s good!!!
The same piece of shit: I can send you pictures of Arabs taped from head to feet. Their face, their eyes everything.
Mila a piece of shit: I absolutely want to see this.
A third piece of shit: If you want Mika I have really nice ones from the army.
Mila the piece of shit: I want to see it.
The two pieces of shit who have pictures: Sending you the pics in DM.
Mila: *laughing*
Come again and tell us how “Israel” is nice and how the “Israeli Arabs” are not mistreated. The thing is the three people who were talking are easily identifiable. We all know who they are know their names and faces. Mila is even invited on TV regularly to pretend to be a victim. But none of them was arrested. Let’s pretend a group with white supremacists and Muslims who can easily be identified because they are known and use their picture and full name on social media was calling for the murder of Jews? Do you think for one second it wouldn’t be all over the news and the piece of shit would be in police custody already? But hey it’s just anti Arab racism so nothing to see here. They are just celebrating the death of Palestinians. Fuck Zionism. Fuck every single person who stand with “Israel” in any form or shape even the “neutral” ones and both siders. You’re a piece of shit and I have absolutely zero respect for you or even any empathy.
(The two guys in the conversation are Zionist Jews the girl Mila is a white supremacist. A couple years ago when she was 17 and nobody knew her she insulted Muslims during a live video, idiots answered by insulting her cause she is queer. And she became a symbole in France they started using her to show how the Arabs are savages and saying that blasphemy is a right in France. They didn’t listen to us when we were like “Nah she didn’t insult Islam she insulted Muslims that’s not blasphemy that’s racism” and now years later after being told her behavior was perfectly okay multiple times including by politicians and the medias, she is casually calling for the murder or Arabs and asking for pictures of dead Palestinians.)

leftists have created for themselves a situation where they have to either be islamophobic or antisemitc, because to them anything even mildly criticising islam or muslims and not treating them as a pure, primitive and peaceful culture is islamophobic. acknowledging jewish oppression under muslim rule or our indigeneity to the levant interferes with their narrative of the perfect noble savages, so now they have to choose between supporting jews or continuing to be unconditionally islamophilic. guess what they chose.

by Brendan O'Neill
In his stride now, Rushdie chides the radicals who have failed to distance themselves from Hamas. This is a ‘terrorist organisation’, he reminds them, and it is ‘very strange for young progressive student [activists] to kind of support a fascist terrorist group’. Indeed. It’s been mindblowing to watch the self-styled anti-fascists of the bourgeois left either stay schtum or even try to rationalise Hamas’s fascistic attack on the Jews of Southern Israel. These are the kind of people who think everything is ‘like the 1930s’ – Brexit, Trump, gender-critical feminism – and yet when there was a pogrom that was genuinely reminiscent of the 1930s they essentially said: ‘Well, what do you expect…?’
Rushdie then commits a secular blasphemy – he questions the chant of our times: ‘Free Palestine.’ He himself supports the creation of a Palestinian state, but what would a ‘Free Palestine’ look like in 2024, he wonders? ‘Right now, if there was a Palestinian state, it would be run by Hamas and that would make it a Taliban-like state…It would be a client state of Iran. And is that what the progressive movements of the Western left wish to create?’
I find myself wondering this all the time. What did it mean when so-called progressives waved the Palestinian flag in the immediate aftermath of 7 October? Was that solidarity with the people of Gaza or Israelophobic triumphalism following Hamas’s vile, bloody invasion of kibbutzim? And when activists holler ‘Globalise the intifada’, what are they saying? The only ‘intifada’ we’ve seen in recent years was the racist pogrom of 7 October. Globalise that? Rushdie is right to call for deeper thought, to muddy with pesky nuance the juvenile rage against Israel that has swept the Western world.
There is something undeniably haunting about Rushdie making his plea for reason from his battered, injured face. In the interview the right lens in his spectacles is blacked out, hiding the eye he lost to the savage knife attack he suffered in August 2022. There’s scar tissue on his face. His lower lip droops to one side. When it comes to radical Islam, this man knows whereof he speaks. The inhumanity of this ideology is literally etched on his face. These are the punishments for ‘blasphemy’ in the 21st century: a severed eye, a deformed mouth. And yet still he sees, still he speaks.

The Problem with the Gerudo | Orientalism in Legend of Zelda
EDIT: Because I made an updated and more in-depth version of this now that Tears of the Kingdom has been out longer, I've posted the updated link here in place of the original.
With the release of Tears of the Kingdom, we have to have this discussion again. The desert vai outfit was racist, not that the game removed it to address that, but the Gerudo are built entirely on orientalist tropes that go beyond just the outfit. We also talk about orientalism as shown in works like Aladdin and Ducktales.
Some Excerpts:
I'm not saying to abandon the idea of queering Link entirely, but only to understand that Legend of Zelda relies very heavily on a number of euro-fantasy tropes that rely on presenting numerous non-white people as exotic playthings and to consider the position that puts queer non-white folks in.
The entire scene of Link getting the Vai outfit and questioning the man giving it to him is built on transphobia.
This isn't queer expression, it's racial exoticism. They're not imagined as people with a society that makes sense, everything around them being so fixated on finding men and having Link and other white guys infiltrating their space.
Orientalism at its core is an imagined vision of real oppressed people by a dominant group in a way that excludes them from their own portrayal and reinforces real-world systemic oppression.
Entire fictional groups in Zelda such as the Rito, Twili, Zonai, Gorons, and Deku Scrubs to name a few incorporate racial coding in addition to the Gerudo. That recontextualizes how we look at say how the Deku are portrayed in Majora's Mask where they're jungle dwelling savages boiling this monkey alive because they think he kidnapped their princess. This is where racial coding comes into play because Nintendo is using a racial trope commonly used to depict Black and several native indigenous people as barbaric.
The Gerudo in Ocarina of Time are depicted as a race of desert-dwelling thieves. You're formally introduced gameplay wise when you have to sneak around their hideout and free these men who were seduced by what the game presents to us as dangerous but irresistible women. Despite being a group of almost entirely women, their society is patriarchal as the in-game lore states the lone man born every century is destined to be their leader. The Gerudo also go out into Hyrule to go find boyfriends.
Ocarina of Time is one of the earliest Zelda games to portray a human or human-like version of Ganon, the man of the desert he's repeatedly called, but they use racial coding with his human counterpart and make him an Arab man with some other cultures mashed in, which they also conflated with Islam to characterize him as evil and dangerous.
Ocarina of Time goes a step further as the recurring symbol of the Gerudo shown here is an altered version as seen on the mirror shield obtained in the spirit temple. The original symbol is a crescent moon and star very closely resembling the symbol of Islam. A common orientalist trope that does this is the conflation of Arabs with the religious faith of Islam. This was changed alongside prayer chanting used in music for the fire temple on some N64 cartridges and subsequent ports and the DS remake of Ocarina of Time.
The fact that Nintendo is a Japanese company doesn't magically make them immune to these issues, especially because 1) orientalism doesn't only encompass Asian people and 2) Even the term "Asian" encompasses countless subcommunities each with very distinct histories.

I wish I was as shameless as OP
No but seriously how do you call this? Arabophilia? Paliphilia?? Philistinophilia????
Tumblr media
At least they aren't claiming to be a palestinean Jew just saying they'd love birthright if it was dhimmified and done by Palestine and not Israel. This is a type of washing that's on my banner I'm sure.
"Mourn the martyrs" a truly Jewish activity that isn't unique to Christinity and Islam, yes.
but on this blog we think "fetishization" and "noble savage trope" would suffice. Even gazan grifters like ibitsams called out this behavior and said it was "treating her people like fatasy characters". Which is exactly what it is.
