Somehow I don't think sukuna is dead, yeah I may be coping, but is yuji story going to end with no sukuna? It started with THEM. Also no, call me contrarian but I don't want Yuji reduced to discount Naruto trio memes (I liked Yuji and choso more or Todo) without knowing his origins, but this chapter teased at ANOTHER flashback with Gojo (sigh) explaining Yuji's origins (but with gojo on screen who cares about soul uncle or mom bonding with yuji)
I also believe so, anon, hence why I am hoping harder than ever (even if it seems bleak) and want to believe that Sukuna will come back precisely because Yuuji (the one who was supposed to hate him and yet doesn't) wants him to. There's also the fact that they're supposed to be different than everyone else (hence why they were put as the center of the story) and why they deserve better and also deserve to give proper closure to all those themes and tie up the story properly.
Out of all relationships in this goddamn manga, the only one which doesn't change (even if it should, even if the plot is about them) is theirs. Therefore it'll be fitting for the story to focus on them more so than give jjk a typical shonen ending where he gets to be happy about rescuing his friends and in turn make that talk of roles and him still loving and asking for Sukuna back despite everything a straight up lie. It feels like the start of the manga again, except Yuuji never swallowed that finger and I don't want that really, not when Yuuji chose to bring Sukuna back despite Megumi's warnings.
I don't want Yuuji's wishes (or for that matter, who he is as a character) to go unheard or for him to get character assassinated in favor of a happy ending so the casual shonen consumers could be happy, especially not when it's the first time he had done something which was so unlike what the fandom thinks of him and that is wanting his enemy to survive. While everyone was saying that Yuuji despises Sukuna, in the end, that was a lie. The truth was a total opposite. Yuuji couldn't connect with anyone as well as he had connected with him. Why do you think he goes to cradle Sukuna and still insist on his answer instead of going after Fushiguro to see if he was alright? That tells you everything you need to know about who he is.
And that's why I believe Sukuna should come back. Proper closure would be them living despite the odds, them overcoming destiny (that they're forced to kill each other) and that Kenjaku's words are, again, just lies (just like how he really wanted the Merger yet in the end found more happiness in fighting Takaba and dying).

Hi, so I know you are often using the Itachi Shinden novels as your source for in-depth discussions of Itachi (and other characters, but mostly Itachi), even though a big chunk of the fandom considers them not canon. What is your stance on the validity of the Naruto novels?
Itachi Shinden novels are the most faithful to canon novels, even though they have their own moments of discrepancy. They don't invent new, crucial things that contradict the canon material. Usually, whenever I mention something from the novels, I specify it with 'in the novel it says this", meaning this part doesn't directly come from manga, but since novel mentions it which was alluded to in the original material (or databooks), I'm using it in my analysis. For the most part, though, I take information from them with a pinch of salt.
Nearly everything in the novel was either directly stated in the original text, was alluded to, or just mentioned in the passing, and the novels elaborated on it. They also entirely validate Obito's story of Itachi and the Uchiha clan's oppression by the village.
When Obito says Itachi was used by the system, manga definitely gives us a peak into it in form of Itachi and Danzo scene in Itachi's flashback as well as Itachi and Fugaku scenes in Sasuke's flashbacks. Itachi and his distance from the family and his clan, the reason behind it, and how badly it all affected him.
Itachi was a self-assured kid, who never pitied himself, had confidence in what he did, thought was right and took decisions accordingly. Still he got manipulated by Danzo, and Hiruzen was useless. He was a child even though he himself didn't use that excuse to feel bad about himself. These things are mentioned in manga through Sasuke's interactions with the two men as well as his own flashbacks. The novels explained the process in extreme detail. Denying the novel is canon doesn't change much because it's only an elaboration of what already exists in the story and has been told to us.
Itachi and Shisui's interactions too. Shisui was important to Itachi, so much so that his death forced Itachi to awaken his Mangekyo Sharingan. Denying the legitimacy of the novels as 'not canon' doesn't help much because it didn't invent Shisui and Itachi's bonding and Shisui wasn't just a filler character. What the novel is doing is, it's giving us the story why Shisui was so important to him. Whatever your version of Itachi and Shisui's friendship, the end result is that they were extremely important to each other.
The death scene of Shisui was slightly different in the novel. Shisui commits suicide in manga. And in the novel he convinces Itachi to push him off the cliff. Again, it's not relevant, because it doesn't actually make Itachi a culprit or any less of a victim.
Itachi's relationship with his parents and Sasuke is the core for me in the novel as well as for his assessment as a character. His aloofness from his family, their lack of support, and his gradual descent into the darkness is shown from his point of view. And how Sasuke was used to make Itachi agree to the massacre. It's all available in detail in the books.
There are many things the novel contradicts, but to me the important things are the ones I mentioned above. His closest bonds with his parents, Sasuke, and Shisui. He was brutally used by the system, was alone, and then had to accept a mission that ended his life before it truly began. That's what the novel emphasizes. And that's what matters to me as well.
The novel states Obito was involved in the coup d'état planning and was manipulating Yashiro Uchiha, but there's no concrete proof of it in manga, so we can't say. However, since Obito is sneaking into the village, he definitely would have taken advantage of the coup and carried out whatever he was planning. So whether he was actively involved in the coup isn't as important to me as much his sneaking into the village is.
The people who claim Itachi novels aren't canon are mostly his haters. On one hand they are convinced Obito was lying about itachi being in war as a kid, Itachi being used by the elders etc., is a lie because Obito is an unreliable narrator. The same people in the same breath also fully claim Obito was telling 100000% truth when he told the clan was planning the coup because they were oppressed. Obito's reliability as a narrator is conditional of what they want to believe of his story.
Manga briefly hints to these things, but in detail they're explored in the novel. Plenty of pro Konoha people use manga to "prove" Uchiha weren't oppressed, they also claim novels aren't canon. Then pro Uchiha people who believe Uchiha were oppressed based on the information received from Obito refuse to view novels as canon because novels challenge their hateful opinion on Itachi.
In the end, I personally do not care. I only care about Itachi's novels. I also liked Naruto Jinraiden, but it has very little relation to anything that's mentioned in the original text. The rest of the novels (Sasuke's primarily) are aimed at SS as a ship and its fans. And something to do with Boruto, I guess.
Even then, Itachi's novels are not my primary source of info for analysis, but definitely work as a supplement, especially for Itachi who adds so much to the story, but has very, very little content from the reliable narrators. To each their own, I guess. And I also don't have the energy to argue with people who think otherwise. Whatever makes them happy, haha.

Maybe I've missed something but we've never seen sakura's family in Naruto's manga right ? I know they appear in the anime and in the movie Naruto : road to Ninja. But I can't remember even one panel about them. Aren't they curious about her training or her career ?
The fact they don't appear or seem to care about her life bothers me. We know about almost everyone's parents from their generation (except Tenten & Lee)... and Sakura is the main female character. It would have been easy to let them appear in a few panels. Like in part one, we get a chapter titled "Sakura's depression" just before the chunin arc. Her parents could have been included there worrying about her feelings or asking about her training or her asking them advices. Anything really, even if it's only a few cases.
We have also her flashbacks with Ino... like really... she's bullied, shouldn't her parents worry that she seems so shy and sad ? Or any reaction to her being bullied ? She was obviously a young child...
I know Sakura mentions her parents at least twice in the manga. And that's it. We know she's from a clan (thanks to the symbol on her back) but we have nothing else. Sakura being from a civilian clan is as far I know a fandom assumption.
There are probably more moments in which they could have been... but see the point ? It would have been nice if Sakura's clan/family was a bit more explored, just to give her more substance, more nuance. It seems quite important to me to develop the family of the main female character. What do they think of their daughter's choices ? What are they alike ? Just even a bit...

10 Years of My Hero Academia
Tumblr media
I have been an avid reader of Weekly Shonen Jump manga since I was a child, and later started following the magazine closely since around 2009. In that time I've witnessed countless titles start and finish. My Hero Academia is the rare kind of series that connects us from the previous generation of the magazine to its current era. It started in Issue 32, 2014 and finished in Issue 36-37, 2024. That makes it the 2nd oldest series in the line-up at the time of ending. Below is my review of the series. I give my thoughts on several of the story moments and give my final impressions. There will be spoilers and it's a long discussion.
Let's first flashback to the summer of 2014. I was in college preparing to spend my Junior year abroad in Japan. My Tumblr was very active and about to reach new highs with my presence in the Nisekoi fandom. In the Weekly Shonen Jump world, a generational shift was about to occur with the new debut of a new battle manga from a previously 2 time canceled author, Kohei Horikoshi.
Tumblr media
Looking back on the issue when My Hero Academia started, we can clearly see how it was a completely different era of Jump. Naruto was still running at chapter 683. That is near the end of the 4th Great Ninja War arc. Naruto would later finish that fall in Issue 50, 2014. Additionally, Kuroko was just a couple of issues away from wrapping up and cementing itself as one of the best sport manga Jump had seen in a decade. One Piece was in the middle of Dressrosa, where little did we know that chapter 752 would only put us halfway through the arc. Gintama was just about to make a major pivot into full time battle manga mode. This issue also saw the conclusion of iShoujo at 20 chapters. (It would later get rebooted on Jump+ as a launch title and run for 14 volumes). It's very clear how My Hero Academia started in a complete era than where are now. So, how was My Hero Academia in the early days? Well, quite honestly I thought it was a very middle of the road title. I was already familiar with Horikoshi through Barrage (the very first simlpub in the digital Jump era that Viz started from chapter 1). He always had a good sense of perspective and the way he draws mouths with depth is a distinctive feature. The series also wore its Naruto inspirations quite openly, while taking advantage of the popularity in superhero movies to add some visibility in the eyes of readers. I thought it was riding the coattails of current trends. The early chapters were standard fare in modern day shonen. Speeding through character introductions and establishing the setting. Shigaraki made an early appearance with the mob baddies called Nomus but it was hard to get invested in the central conflict so soon. However Shigaraki’s eerie design of being covered in hands certainly stood out at the time. I was curious but not necessarily invested right away. (of course in retrospective its clear how Horikoshi used the early events as building blocks for what was to come later)
Tumblr media
But you know what sways me the most: Tournament Arcs! This Sports Festival tournament was where I finally started feeling invested in the series. In part because tournament arcs provide an easy to use template for establishing character relationships, create unexpected match ups, ground character arc trajectories, and provide payoffs if used later in the story. The big plot point introduced in this arc was the #2 Hero Endeavor and the relationship with his son, Todoroki. If All Might is the honest public face hero, then Endeavor is the power obsessed guy. He destroyed his family and took extreme measures to produce a child that can beat All Might. Todoroki's story begins with him outright rejecting his father. However, this changed during a fight with Deku. Deku and Todoroki are both foils and yet mirrors of each other at the same time. They were both blessed with powers that were not obtained naturally. Deku was given a quirk on the spur of the moment from All Might. Todoroki was given his abilities in service of someone else’s goals. One accepts their reality and the other does not. Deku showed that Todoroki accepting the power is not the same as acting in father's wishes. He should use the powers gifted to him in whatever ways he sees fit. This moment comes with the first end of chapter title drop and the moment when Horikoshi’s writing clicked into place for me. The scene when Todoroki uses his flames for the first time is powerful because I loved how they were depicted coming out so naturally. These flames are a part of himself and always have been. Todoroki has at last accepted that side of himself going forward.
Tumblr media
After the tournament, it shifts into a short arc with the Killer Hero Stain. He brings up the idea that Heroes should be more than symbols for people to worship, and instead Heroes should practice what they preach. He sees All Might as the only authentic hero to follow. This is the first time we see a villain figure making a valid point that pins down one of the faults to hero society. Stains describes how everyone is doing it for fun, out of obligation, or for making money. All Might is someone whose confidence is so strong that his hero persona and outward personality are one in the same. Sadly this arc was too short to fully explore the idea, but it would come up again later. Jumping ahead, the series quickly reached its first major story climax: All Might vs. One For All. I went into this fight thinking All Might was going to die and was very surprised when he didn't. The master passing the torch to his student through a death scene is such a common trope (which yes, it made me even more surprised how All Might survived the entire story). I was on the edge of my seat when reading this weekly and consider it a high point of the series. This fight ended up marking the beginning of the end to the Hero Society. All Might's retirement shakes the very foundation of the Hero world. Who can possibly replace someone who inspires people from all walks of life? From this point on, Deku and Shigaraki are now  walking similar paths as the heirs to this conflict. The following arcs saw the league of villains poking at the cracks and expanding the seeds of distrust.
Tumblr media
When manga serializations are constantly one-upping itself on story climaxes, it can be hard to return to any semblance of a daily life in the aftermath of major moments. This middle section of the manga from about volume 12 to 24 is a boring stretch of the series. First getting the provisional licenses felt unnecessary in the grand scheme since there's really nothing stopping them from fighting the bad guys other than technical loopholes in the writing. Then the Shie Hassaikai arc was almost like canon filler to me.  It amounted to very little at the time and came off like a side quest. (This arc also marks the beginning of frequent breaks). Afterwards the U.A. school festival was a refreshing turn back into school life but still, Gentle isn't the fodder we need to see. Lastly, the worst offender of this stretch by far was the class A vs. B matches. A tournament style arc just for show. No stakes. Nothing of consequence.  It basically paused the story for about 2 volumes. Thankfully Horikoshi would resume the plot right afterwards with a bang.
Tumblr media
My Villain Academia is exactly what the story needed to get itself back together. The League of Villains seemed like they were supposed to be foils for class A-1 and yet any comparable character development just wasn’t happening. This was finally going to change. This arc focused exclusively on the villains and each member would get a quirk power up, while Shigaraki received the rampaging ally Gigantomachia. We also have the Tenko: Origin chapter to put his past into perspective. While I still have issues with the villain writing, it felt like the villains could finally stand on their own in the story.
The momentum continued into the Paranormal Liberation War. An all-out fight between the heroes and villains at their peak across multiple areas of Japan. The countdown to Mirko stopping Shigaraki from reaching his true form was thrilling. Then came the first real clash between Deku and Shigaraki. However, the star of the show for this arc was undoubtedly Dabi who effectively canceled Endeavor’s entire career. Dabi exposed the past of Endeavor by explaining his own story. He showed that Heroes put up a public positive face to hide their power hungry desires motivating them behind the scenes. This makes Heroes no different from villains in many regards. These words brought an end to Hero society as we knew it. The public was already feeling uneasy after the retirement of All Might, and signaling out Endeavors’s past showed how the system was built on an image, not human understanding. Japan was left in ruins, numerous convicted villains were released back into the wild, and the people have nobody they can trust.
Tumblr media
I consider the spread page above to be my favorite from the entire series. Horikoshi’s art reached new highs throughout the Paranormal Liberation War arc. His ability to depict Shigaraki as a real force of nature against the Heroes was crazy good. You could really feel the impact behind every attack on each individual and the surrounding environment. Shigaraki ability is something that alters landscapes wherever he goes.
Tumblr media
The final stretch of the story begins with Deku acting like a vigilante. Hero Society at-large has hit its lowest point where the institution of Heroes who maintain public safety is no more. The public is scared for their life. Heroes have largely abandoned their post. One for All and the strongest villains are on the loose, and Deku has been completely worn down by the burden of his role. His mind has entered the idea that only he alone can fix this. The Lady Nagant storyline was awesome. She is someone who had to adapt to survive in these precilous times. A hero and a villian is only matter of perspective after all. Sometimes people will do what they need to in order to survive. If even our main character can be swayed then where is the line hero and villain?
Tumblr media
The Dark Deku arc is when Deku is stripped down to his core convictions: the desire to protect his friends and defeat One for All. However it's the very friends that he was trying to push away, who ultimately reached out the hand to save him. Deku has touched each of their lives in ways he can't even begin to imagine. Now it was time for them to return the favor. This brings the story to a touching scene where Uraraka yells to an audience of scared citizens to remind them how Heroes are people too and Deku is one of them. This section is my favorite part of the entire story. It felt like everything had changed. We didn't know where the story was going next nor where to begin tackling the awful state of the world. Everything was so raw. It was an exciting time to be reading weekly.
Tumblr media
After reaching a new series high, we drop down to one of its lowest points in my opinion. Star & Stripe vs. Shigaraki was an absolute shame. There should have been a study abroad arc so Deku could meet and experience heroes around the world. So when the Number One American hero is introduced, with death flags, I was skeptical about why. I don't like when characters are introduced just to die immediately. The whole point was to artificially weaken Shigaraki so the heroes would stand a chance in the upcoming final battle. Similarly, I would have liked the traitor reveal if it had been more important throughout the story. Barely came up after the training camp arc in volume 9. It came off like Hoirkoshi just needed to check off that box to appease readers before entering the final battle. But, finally seeing Hagakure’s face was a very nice reward. Despite the stumbles to set up the final battle, I thought it was incredible. One of the best in recent memory from Jump. A fight with the future of Japan on the line across numerous locations. In shonen manga style, it pulled in every single character from throughout the series, used all the mobs to their fullest, and pitted villains vs. their foil villain character. Iit definitely checked off all the boxes of what you need for a grand finale to a long running battle shonen. I think Dabi and Todoroki got the thematic ending it needed. Spinner could have used a little more focus. Himeko and Uraraka reached an understanding at the very end that was probably the safe end for their storyline. I loved seeing the floating stage slowly descend to the surface as the climax approached, while the fighting began to center around Deku and Bakugo. Horikoshi once again reached new artistic highs I couldn’t even imagine throughout the final battle. I like to think the frequent breaks allowed him to pace it better than you typically find in Jump manga final arcs.
Tumblr media
As the series comes to close, I am left very pleased with where character arcs ended up. Deku is someone who had to grow up almost overnight. From a quirkless boy to saving all of Japan in the span of a year. He has something that All Might lacked. The spirit to never give up on leading a hand to someone in need. If All Might presented himself with confident bravado, then Deku was the honest human type. Shigaraki is someone who was beyond saving, and yet even if for a moment, Deku wanted to give the respect he deserved as a person. Deku losing his powers cements the story as being about a moment in his life. That he never took the powers he was blessed with for granted, and used them to the fullest throughout the story. I appreciated that Horikoshi made no effort to justify the villain's actions (besides partly Himeko). They are a product of unfortunate circumstances and deliberate choices which brought them to this point. Their actions speak for themselves. This applies to the heroes as well. Endeavor is a complex man with a storyline that reads more mature than you'd expect at first glance. He is a man who drove his family to ruin for the sake of strength, and those choices came back to haunt him in the form of Dabi and Todoroki. He's effectively lost everything. I think Horikoshi stuck the landing by giving readers the final judgment if he should be redeemed or not. The family members were left mixed, and Endeavor is prepared to rebuild from nothing. Shigaraki’s death is best for the sake of tying a bow on the story. Deku indirectly caused it, but he doesn’t beat himself over it that much. The world is the same as it was before the conflict. Heroes will remain in people’s lives. The systemic issues of a Hero society that sells certain images of people and casts aside those who don’t fit will persist. Another person or organization like the league of villains could easily rise up again in the future. However, Horikoshi presents a simple solution. Leading a hand to each other is a good starting point towards making the world a better place. Happiness can spread from person to another, and lead to a better understanding of those we don't know. It takes collective action to make the world a better place for everyone and that can begin with a single person.
Tumblr media
So overall, what do I think of My Hero Academia? Ending at 430 chapters is an incredible run for a weekly manga in this current era. Horikoshi covered a lot of characters and topics, many of which I still didn’t cover at this post. I think the series has some of the strongest battle manga highs we’ve seen in the past decade, and of course some parts could have been better. I take issue with pacing and writing choices at times. The villains collectively speaking were the weakest aspect, but the genuine passion for Heroes shines through in every aspect of this work. He used that as a lens to look at problems of the world. Naruto is very optimistic with how communication is the key to bridging differences. My Hero Academia in comparison says that is only a piece of the puzzle. Everyone needs to make a conscious choice to reach out to others. We all can be a hero to someone out there. My Hero Academia will be remembered as the generation-defining Jump series of the past 10 years, In the same way its beginning overlaps late Naruto, perhaps in the future, Kagurabachi fans will remember how it started at the end of My Hero Academia’s run. My Hero Academia will finish as the 9th longest series ever in the history of Weekly Shonen Jump. This is a position it will hold long into the future. I don’t expect anything in the current line-up to come close in length. I've considered Horikoshi to be the best artist in the magazine for the past several years. He always kept improving right up to the end with insanely detailed panels and spread pages. His presence in the magazine will be missed. Thank you Kohei Horikoshi. It's been a long ride. I'm glad you could finally cross the finish line. I look forward to whatever you might do next in the future!

Hi, I don't play genshin but sometimes I like to lurk through other people's fandom to spice things a bit on my brain. Anyways, recently I saw some posts talking about some red moon eye-like god (? Something like that, having strong Naruto flashbacks here btw) and I was wondering:
(What with all the eyes?
I mean, visions look like eyes (and the name lol), the fallen nation's king had a single eye, Kaeya covers an eye, Furina has something weird in her pupil, that god is an eye.
That was really not the point tho.)
Is that eye god stuff the reason visions exist or celestia really said "oh, yes, lets give these tenacious mortals who have reasons to hate me a way to become stronger, there's no way this fires back at me"? Or is the eye god stuff Celestia? Or are all higher up gods just eyeballs? (Half joking with this one but that would be kinda fun) Though according to religious stuff, biblically accurate angels would look like eyeballs or something.
Anyways, I know you probably don't know the answer (since the game seems to be like an unfinished book with the real plot still unfolded), but I wanted to share the senseless questions in my head with someone and the chosen one (by my brain) is you (based on vibes).
Lmaoo hell yeah I passed the vibe check 💖💖💖
But you're right in that currently we're only working off of speculation for Visions
And oh boy did this become a long one lmao (tldr at the end ✨️)
The most popular theory back in the day was that Visions were the eyes of Celestia
Because as you said, they've also been given to people with reason to hate them, so this was a way to keep an EYE on them lmao
As we continued our journey we learned the archons would set aside a fraction of their power for those who hit certain marks in their life in order to be granted a vision - but they had no control over who got them or why
What finally challenged this theory is that Neuvillette, a dragon (that the ever composed Zhongli, ex archon, hid from), also set aside some of his power to be handed out as visions. Something that wouldn't seem to line up if they were actually harmful to the humans he's come to care for
And then we got his Friendship 6 Vision story:
"To continue to subdue and control the resentments and loathing of the world, the usurper and one who came after created the Gnoses together. So it came to be that an order was made to be upheld, and thus did humans come to only possess these seven remembrances ... From that day on, whenever a person's wishes reached the heavens, the seven overseers of the material realm were duty-bound to grant them a gift.
... And when one so gifted completed their duty... the gift the gods would receive in return would be more abundant still."
Neuvillette was also opposed to the fates/constellations before later caring for humans and allowing his own mark to be etched into the sky
"He did not initially care much about such, for the puppet strings glossed as "divine rules" would one day be burned away by the fires of judgment."
"And could it not be, he would explain, that King Nibelung had been wrong, and that the black void could only be opposed if all life were to band together as one? Thus did he, in the end, come into his own "fate." The skies had left a special, ennobled place for him, one reserved for the overseers and those who could defy the world itself — that of his own reflection."
Obtaining a Vision, and therefore a constellation, seems to represent a unity of goals instead. Not of a hatred for the Usurper but of an unbreakable will to keep pushing forward. A Will that when unified together, like in the fight against Ei, can become something more. It's easily why many Vision holders get theirs in dire situations, when faced with death they stand defiant against despair.
Perhaps when facing off against an all consuming void that threatens the world created by the Usurper, a darkness that would also threaten their very lives, these Wills will be at their strongest to push back the calamity, at least for a while longer.
To counter the despair of the world is to rise to your own judgment and demand to have a place in the world anyways... or at least that can be one interpretation 🤷
'Cause you see, the Narzissenkreuz Institute also brought up the belief that "one's own will is an obstacle, and that obtaining a Vision is a "guaranteed path to destruction." "
Whether a dramatic/poetic interpretation of giving up your Will to act as a battery for some anti-void machine, or much like Fontaine's prophecy, a twisted truth, it's not a line that should be disregarded so easily.
(Could also mean that having a will to stand in defiance would really fuck up their plan of everyone giving up their identities to seek shelter in the one water droplet during the end of the world. So "guaranteed destruction" in the belief that their plan was the only way to survive, and not that the visions themselves were the cause for the end)
So all in all, what we know about visions is that it's soft locked behind poetry and lines we don't have the full context for, and I suck at reading poetry (looking at you Fischl istg) ✨️
--
As for why eyes in general? Genshin takes inspiration from a LOT of mythos/stories/religions that ALSO have a thing for eyes
Like at this point I think they went through their own red string conspiracy of eyes throughout history and decided to compress it into a single story lmao
But man you just reminded me of the "Natsuhiboshi red eye" Naruto song I used to listen to a bunch lmao

the character everyone gets wrong
sweaty soggy noodle man kakashi is who this is all going to be about so. I don't think everyone gets him wrong. a lot of people do but it's usually bc they're too horny to care lol
2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom
have you seen him? have you felt his vibes? he is lazy by nature and recoils away from most physical contact that isn't necessary to do his job (and even he doesn't seem to enjoy it). there are like 7 total people he even lets see his face (while knowing it is his face) and most of them are dead by the time he is 13. hang out? sure. do nice domestic couple things? sounds lovely. get naked and fuck? so an enemy can kill him or a loved one while he's distracted? no. he probably has tried scheduling his shits and showers with gai so he's never actually vulnerable. he's also so ace.
Aubu kakashi: "Tenzō I need you to stand outside the bathroom while I shit." baby tenzō: on it boss (thinks this is completely normal bc he is also in anbu)
3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
uhhh that kakashi would not only have sex but would want you to call him daddy. that nearly 50 year kakashi who has never worn sunscreen in his life shouldn't actually look old/older. that a young looking kakashi is a health looking kakashi.
4. what was the last straw that made you finally block that annoying person?
lol that insinuation that looking young is healthy
5. worst discord server and why
i have never been in a discord server longer than a few days. idk.
6. which ship fans are the most annoying?
facebook dude bro fans whoops i misread this. i thought it just said fans. but shipping fans? idk kakairu is a notp for me but the fans aren't overly annoying? maybe the painfully ooc readerx shippers. I haven't seen many in a while tho so
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
Iruka lol but only when shipped with kakashi. annoying loud-mouth chunin. whatever dude.
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
kakashi fucks and gai doesn't
9. worst part of canon
it's naruto man. everything after the land of waves arc lol
10. worst part of fanon
the bumbling husband and nagging wife characterizations from the kakairu fanon.
11. number of fandom-related words you've filtered
bruh lots idk lol
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
tenzō T-T
13. worst blorboficiation
i'm pro blorbo. i am rotating these fictional men in my mind at all times.
14. that one thing you see in fics all the time
i don't know.
15. that one thing you see in fanart all the time
fangs v-v and scars.
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
people who love kakashi but don't give a shit about gai. those two are like a packaged deal in my mind. can't have one without the other. they are eternal rivals after all.
17. there should be more of this type of fic/art
sometimes i just really need a deep dive into kakashi's head. i love the character study type stuff.
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
younger gai and tenzō bumping into each other bc they're both watching kakashi stand at the memorial stone bc they're both worried.
19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...
there is nothing i am mad/ashamed/horrified about but if you're wondering yes i do enjoy the fanarts of kakashi in bondage. lol
20. part of canon you found tedious or boring
the flashbacks are out of control. my memory isn't great but it's not that fucking bad holy shit girl
21. part of canon you think is overhyped
idk i feel like the parts of fandom i interact with are pretty realistic about how good something in Naruto is
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
Yaknow how Obito's dream that naruto sees is Obito is back in konoha and becoming hokage but Rin is still dead? like what does obito wish had changed? I think it's if Minato had recognized him. I think Obito was actually praying and hoping for Minato to realize who he was fighting. Obito had a seal on his heart. Minato could have saved him if Minato pulled his head out of his ass for more that 5 mins at a time.
23. ship you've unwillingly come around to
none. my kakashi stubbornness knows no bounds
24. topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
idk kakashi discourse is easy for me to ignore.
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
none. i love hatefulness drama and kakashi.

Character Roundups Round 7: Itachi Uchiha
Lord in heaven above it's time for a big one because I have a lot of fucking thoughts about Itachi.
Itachi as written and framed by Kishimoto: When Kishimoto decided Itachi's real backstory will always be one of the great mysteries of the world. On the one hand, I think Itachi retraumatizing Sasuke and putting him into a genjutsu after they meet for the first time since the massacre is over the line if Itachi was supposed to secretly care this whole time. On the other hand, Kishimoto has proven before he doesn't know where the line is with Naruto "I will break all of Sasuke's bones if he doesn't come back to Konoha with me" Uzumaki. And then there's the first full flashback where everything is, if I had to describe it in one word: suspicious. Like okay Itachi just wants to rise above his limits and the clan...or does he??? Is this really Itachi under pressure from his clan and Konoha and he ends up lashing out at the clan one time before he does the deed. You could read it either way. No hint there on when Kishimoto decided Itachi's ultimate backstory.
Speaking of confusion, how are we intended to view Itachi? Because Itachi himself says he messed up, but literally every other character talks about how great and smart he is. If we are supposed to think Itachi was a genius and did his best then it's kind of bad story-telling for reasons I will get into. If we are supposed to agree with Itachi that he fucked up then it's not very successful because so many characters say otherwise and it seems like a lot of the fandom also thinks otherwise.
There's a lot of confusion throughout Itachi's story because I'm pretty sure Kishimoto's intention changed during writing, but I'm pretty confident what we are meant to believe by the end. I'm sure people will disagree with me so I will explain after I say what I think we are ultimately pushed into thinking about Itachi. I think we are supposed to think of Itachi as someone noble and good who did his best and his only flaw was trying to do everything himself. Who Kishimoto thought would help Itachi in this situation I don't know. If that one line from Itachi about Sasuke being able to change the clan if he told him what was going is the answer then what the fuck Kishimoto how is a seven year old going to help here. But anyway I don't think Kishimoto wants us to think Itachi killing his clan was wrong and I don't think he wants us to think Konoha was wrong for pushing him into it. I also think no matter how hard it was on him Itachi still thought ultimately it was the Uchiha who should have changed to stop the massacre from happening rather than the other way around.
I think this because as I always have, and as I keep shouting to everyone to no avail, this is because Kishimoto clearly does not give a shit what happened to the Uchiha clan. The one person who cared, Sasuke, just stops caring after hearing Hashirama recount Romeo & Juliet and then he never talks about it again and it's just vaguely implied that Sasuke agrees with Itachi so he's over the whole dead parents and clan thing and now wants to change the world or something. If we were supposed to view Itachi as someone other than noble for what he did then there would be SOMETHING said about how it was wrong that the Uchiha clan is all dead but that doesn't happen. I know other people have their ideas about Itachi DID think what he did was wrong or he DID resent Konoha for making him kill his clan because of xyz. Of course anyone's headcanons are fine, but I'm just saying no one can say that as fact because if it was then at the very least there should be a hint somewhere in the narrative that we as readers should be sad that Itachi won't admit Konoha was wrong. Otherwise what's the point? Saying "Itachi did resent Konoha but he couldn't say it because he was under the protect Konoha genjutsu" only effects how the reader might feel about Itachi and serves nothing for the story since clearly the narrative doesn't care. Once again, it's fine to read it that way but you can't demand that every reader do the same because there's nothing to indicate that is how it should be read.
How it should have gone: I know about half or maybe even more of all Sasuke fans hate Itachi but let me be real. I think Itachi is a great character. I have some nitpicks but really overall the only thing I would change is I would take the fucking framing of Itachi and move it to the left. Because the problem with Itachi isn't the character, it's that Kishimoto missed the point.
The POINT of Itachi's character should have been: Itachi is a fuck up. Itachi spent his life getting called a genius, but whether it was something in his control or not nothing he did worked out for him. And it's really funny to me that Kishimoto flew right over that when he writes like he hates geniuses. There's Itachi sitting there with the whole problem with the idea of "a genius" right in front of him and Kishimoto doesn't take it. The problem being that being a genius at ninja-ing means being a genius at espionage and violence and strategy and not at a lot of other useful things like emotional intelligence or historical context.
I'm not going to complain that Itachi it overall shitty to Sasuke nor will I pretend he isn't. When I'm reading fiction I don't need characters to be good people or make good choices, I need them to make sense as a character. Itachi for me makes sense. You can deeply love someone, but be too traumatized and misguided to be any good at it or even know how to show love to another person. What I love about Itachi is that he was really shit at loving his brother which led to Sasuke going down the exact path Itachi desperately tried to get him not to go down. And it's through that failure that Itachi finally was able to give Sasuke the one thing he should have been giving him this entire time and what no one else will: unconditional love. I got no problems with that. The issue for me is that Konoha is never framed as wrong. If Itachi won't/can't admit it himself I think it would be a great idea to not frame Sasuke as being bad for saying what Konoha did was wrong. It would be a good way to develop Sasuke away from his hero-worship of Itachi. I don't have a problem that Sasuke is like that because it makes sense for his character, but I think it would be an interesting way to develop Sasuke's character. Sasuke could see that Itachi can't admit that what Konoha made him do was wrong and unnecessary and could be sad for Itachi as well as see that as a fault of Itachi's. Sasuke could come to see his brother as he was, a flawed man who made a lot of mistakes and didn't know everything (just like the narrative should see him). Which by the way I'm not necessarily saying Itachi is too stupid to realize Konoha was wrong, more like what if Itachi refuses to see that because it would be mentally and emotionally too devastating to confront the fact that he was completely in the wrong for killing his clan. I don't even think Itachi had a choice at that point since Danzo was threatening to come at Sasuke like he was a drunk Canadian and Sasuke was a baby seal, but I think psychologically Itachi's overwhelming guilt would override in his mind the fact that he had very limited options.
So yeah, Itachi. Very complicated character, but overall not much I would change that isn't framing. Itachi was always wrong and most decisions he had to make were out of his control but the decisions he did make were also bad.

Apologies if I came off a certain way but there's a pattern I've noticed in the fandom over the years. The same people who bash Sakura and say she's written to be unlikable are the same people who joke about Naruto and Sasuke being absent fathers and think it's a funny gotcha moment for their ship. Those two in the current canon are far more unlikable than Sakura. She comes across as pathetic in Gaiden but that entire manga was a Team 7 character assassination and people only talk about Sakura.
People blame Sakura for pursuing a guy who shows no interest in her, except it's explicitly written in the manga that Sasuke does care about Sakura, felt the need to apologize to her, and enjoys her company. It's also shown and stated that Sakura does care about Sasuke's feelings and knew he would leave the village that night(although it can be argued that this was to set up the VoTE fight, I still think it's worth mentioning). She's shown in flashbacks alongside Naruto. I don't think Sakura's feelings are too unrealistic, she never stalked him like Hinata did to Naruto, she was just very direct.
Nothing Sakura ever did is as bad as Naruto sending a clone to his kid's birthday party and having his son hate him, or Sasuke disappearing for a decade and never meeting his daughter(in my opinion). It just seems like a double standard. Sasuke clearly likes her and I don't think you have to be a SS shipper to acknowledge this; plenty of people date/marry while being in love with someone else. Also maybe I'm incorrect but awhile back I remember reading that Kishi did want to expand on Sakura more but his editors told him not to.
Sorry for the unsolicited rant but I don't engage in the fanbase that much anymore and I recently returned to Tumblr lol. I didn't even realize they removed the character limit in asks.
I'm starting to feel like a meanie since I drag a character you seem to like, but you are kind of prompting it by sending me asks about it. Your motive seems to be that I'd change my mind about her but it's not going to happen.
Sasuke did care about her when she was part of his team in part 1. He's also a kind boy despite what people think of him. So he gives people chances. And he also noticed Sakura didn't change in the end. That's why he says "I knew it, you really are damned annoying."
We never see him actually enjoy her company (I have no idea where you even got this impression), while Kishimoto goes out of his way to show Sasuke enjoying Naruto's company. He never thinks of Sakura as an individual, only as part of their unit. This is something a lot of people, even people who didn't ship Naruto and Sasuke noticed. In part 2, you can't possibly argue that Sasuke cares about Sakura lol. Kishimoto really rubbed it in everyone's faces how Sasuke didn't have the same consideration for Sakura anymore as he did during their time as a team, and this is something Sakura herself noticed. As for his apology, yes he gave two panel apology to her after he recoinciled with Naruto. He had committed to adapt to a new life where he assisted to make the shinobi world better with Naruto, so it makes sense he would try to get along with Sakura like Naruto many times insisted him to. But it's not like Kishi would sacrifice too much space for this, and Sasuke immediately focuses his attention to Naruto after said apology. Compare this apology to some of the others in the manga, you can tell how lackluster and not as emotionally charged it is.
Sakura cares about Sasuke's feelings? No, she really doesn't. In both of her confessions, she makes everything about herself. She shows she does not listen at all what Sasuke says even in her second confession. "If you stay with me things can go back to the way they were" seriously, she does not understand even the most basic stuff. I don't even need to mention how she compared her shallow feelings to the loss of Sasuke's entire clan, while insisting she hurts as much as he does. As for him leaving, Sakura had been noticing the mark's effect on Sasuke afterwards since she knew it was there, Naruto didn't. Here's a good takedown about it [link].
She's not as bad as Hinata? First of all, being better than Hinata is a low bar to begin with, and nothing to boast about. Secondly plenty of Hinata stans argue she's better than Sakura, by saying "at least Hinata didn't get rejected multiple times while not taking no for an answer like Sakura" while you think Sakura is better because she didn't stalk Sasuke behind a tree. Meanwhile, my opinion is that neither of them can take a hint. And both of them are selfish.
Naruto and Sasuke are gay in a world that wouldn't accept their relationship, so it's far more nuanced for them. You might realize this when you grow up. Both SS and NH also unsurpsingly involve guilt tripping.
As for Sakura, Gaiden is not character assassination for her. Sakura was ready to dump her parents and disrespect them every time they were brought up in front of Sasuke, and she was never redeemed from this, she never was shown to treat them well. In a manga that is about bonds, including family bonds. Lol. She also treats Ino badly because they both like Sasuke. She literally said the reason she treated Naruto so poorly was because she was under the impression Naruto comes between her and Sasuke. It's literally not out of character for her to get pissed at Sarada for bursting her bubble about her relationship with Sasuke.
Sorry but I think you’re the one misinterpreting her character.

I know that a lot of the fandom want him to come back but personally I would rather let Satoru rest. I mean, I respect Gege's work but I feel like sometimes his writing is a hit or miss. A lot of the plot was promising and had a lot of potential but he didn't elaborate in some of those points, then you have strong, engaging characters but he also dropped the ball on them and it's okay, its his story but as a reader it's a kinda frustrating. Personally after being let down by one of the big three (Naruto) after investing 10+ years and making peace with it, I like to believe that Satoru is now on his fandom's hands, and we're going to take good care of him, rather than him just getting into perhaps another plot point that Gege might not even give justice to the character. That’s just my opinion as an older fan.
Love your content btw ♥
Again, I feel like it's hard for me to fully form my own opinion on it just because it's still unfinished. I have no doubt we will be seeing flashbacks with gojo present and maybe through those it will tie things together and make everything feel more complete. I also feel like weekly release format can often make the story feel really disjointed, but often once it's all finished and you go back and read it all together it feels alot more put together.
I try to cut mangaka a bit of slack bc of how insane their work schedule and environment can be. What they put themselves through is actually crazy and the fact they are still able to put out the quality they do is amazing. 😭
I get where you are coming from, (especially in regards to Naruto 😬) I think that's a really sweet sentiment to have about the fandom taking care of him 💕 we will for sure continue to love and take care of him<3

still so funny to me that i'm so deep in the founders fandom now when i didn't give a shit abt any of these characters before...
me, after watching and reading naruto for the first time, and a decade later (which was last year) after my re-watch as well: my god this flashback is so boring, who the fuck cares?! 🙄
me, after reading like five (5) mdtb fics out of curiosity bc i am enemies to lovers trash and these two fit that trope like no one else even if i don't care abt either of them: welp, guess what 🤡

[+18 Fic] Messing around

The two boys explore a new side of their relationship, but are interrupted by their master and their friend. Later in life they remember this moment and decide to explore once more what they crave so much: each other’s romantic love.
I wanted to write an AU where Nagato and Yahiko kissed as teens to try it and then have to navigate their feelings into adulthood, especially Nagato who wants his two bff to be together but also isn't indifferent to how hot they are. It's "oh shit wait let's just be a triad" again im sorry 🙈
Chapter one under the cut (SFW), read the rest on AO3
Seeing how happy Konan looked with her skirt on, Jiraiya thought that maybe he got it wrong.
When he accepted to take care of these three, he thought he was looking after three boys. But Konan corrected him, and the other two insisted vehemently: Konan is a girl. He corrected his language soon, but was hesitant in which direction to guide her so she would not encounter suffering when she'd grown up. He had told her she'd wear the same outfit as her peers, so that way they were a team, but she got upset by that.
Without his knowledge, spending the little cash that he had been willing to give them, Yahiko and Nagato snuck out and bought her a skirt following her birthday. The fourteen year old was ecstatic, she tried it on immediately and insisted on going on training like that, which Jiraiya allowed, hesitantly. During the training, her two friends kept commenting on how nice it was, and she voiced how easy it was for her to move in it and reassured Jiraiya that she could fight in it with no issues. Jiraiya was impressed by the solidarity between these three. He thought that with these two to help her, she'd definitely do fine in life. He remembered how the two boys had severely scolded him when he called her a boy at their first meeting.
Back at the hideout for lunch, Jiraiya joyfully put the food he prepared on the table.
“Good job on your training you three! I'm very proud to have you as my pupils. Konan, I have a surprise for you.”
“Oh?”
“This afternoon, I'm taking you to town to get some new clothes for you! Anything you want you'll get it.”
Konan was very surprised and couldn't hide her joy.
“Teacher that's...! For real??”
“Yeah!”
“What about us, teacher? Do we tag along?”
“No. You two are going to stay there nicely and do chores. Because you're grounded.”
“What?? what for ??”
“Sneaking out during the evening. Even if it was for a good cause, you still disappeared and made me almost have a heart attack. Even Konan was worried for you twos.”
Yahiko and Nagato looked down, sorry to have worried their teacher and Konan.
“... Sorry... We didn't think about that…”
“We just couldn't stand how sad Konan was, we had to do something.”
“I understand and I think standing like that for her was an outstanding and kind move, but STILL. You two will stay there today.”
“Okay teacher.”
“Tidy up the house then read a book, build up your teamwork and friendship or play a game, I don't know, but don't move from here.”
“Gotcha.”
As planned, Konan and Jiraiya left right after lunch and the two guys were left alone. They swept the floors, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the windows and finished by doing the dishes.
As not much was left to do, Yahiko, tired, went to sit down on the futons while his friend was finishing the dishes. He sighed looking out the window.
“I hope she's okay. And that Jiraiya keeps his promise to get her anything she wants.”
“Mmh. Same.”
“So do you want to do anything? Once you're done I mean.”
“I'm almost done! And no, I don't have anything in mind. What about you?”
“Hmmm, maybe I'll do like you usually do and read.”
Nagato smiled at him and got back to washing. Yahiko sighed, feeling a bit awkward to be left alone with Nagato.
He remembered when Nagato first joined their group, he used to not really like him, feeling like Konan had brought a stranger into their home. But now he considered the redhead his best friend, just like Konan. He had saved his life once, killing a thief that wanted to harm them, and was very protective of both him and Konan. Yahiko always felt a bit flattered whenever he was being his extremely protective self.
Ever since that man's death and Jiraiya discovering Nagato's powers, he had been wearing his hair split so that one of his eye was visible, in contrast to before where both his eyes were covered by bangs.
One day as they were playing, Nagato's bangs let Yahiko catch a glimpse of his eyes. Right after Yahiko reached for his bangs to catch a better look, looking in awe at his two big beautiful purple eyes. Nagato had very quickly pushed his hand away, telling him that his parents had always told him to never let anyone see his eyes. The three kids understood when Jiraiya panicked that it was because these eyes held great power and people could have harmed him if he let them be seen by everyone as a child.
Even if Nagato's powers were scary, Yahiko never felt scared by him. He liked that he was leaving one of his eye visible now. He liked looking at it. He really really liked his friend's appearance, thinking he almost looked as pretty as a girl.
Yahiko looked longingly at him while he finished his chore, realizing how far he had gone in his thoughts. Nagato dried his hands and came to sit next to Yahiko and smiled again.
“For once I can sit right next to you since Konan's not there. Usually she hoards the place next to you.”
Yahiko was still staring at him, frowning a bit.
“... What's wrong Yahiko?”
“I don't know, it feels awkward to be here alone. With you.”
Nagato was a little taken aback and made a sad expression.
“Oh... You don't like spending time with me?... Is that why you'd rather read?”
Yahiko regretted his choice of words and felt terrible that Nagato deduced that from what he said.
“No!! Nagato, I like spending time with you! I don't know, I just feel awkward today.”
He put a hand on his shoulder and smiled at him.
“You're my best friend Nagato.”
Nagato smiled back, reassured.
“Wouldn't that be Konan?”
“It's both of you. I really like you, I do!”
“Ah, I'm so relieved then. I really like you too, Yahiko.”
Yahiko thought, since no one was at home, he'd try telling Nagato how much he actually liked him.
“... I was just thinking about how much I like how you look now. Your hair really grew nicely. And I think out of the three of us, you're the one on which the green kimonos fit best.”
Nagato smiled, a little surprised, and blushed.
“You really think so? You look nice in it too, and so does Konan.”
Yahiko smiled, feeling warm in his chest. He didn't really understand why he felt that weird toward Nagato. Somehow, he ended up realizing that it was the same feelings as when he was alone with Konan. He was wondering why he'd be feeling that way considering Nagato was a guy like him. His young self did not realize yet that one could have romantic feelings for the same gender. He felt compelled to press on these feelings and see what would happen.
“Nagato… Can I touch your hair?... They always look so soft, like Konan’s.”
“Oh, s-sure…”
Yahiko gently passed his hand in Nagato’s hair, temporarily clearing his face from his bangs. The two teens felt their heartbeat spike up as Nagato’s two eyes gazed into Yahiko’s. Yahiko then softly caressed Nagato’s cheek, trembling a little. He was acting on an impulse, not really knowing what he was doing, or how Nagato would react. His red haired friend just kept looking at his eyes, he did not protest. Which was weird considering how usually awkward with physical contact he was. His cheeks were a little red.
He felt more warmth in his heart for his friend than ever, he gathered his courage and broke the silence.
“N-Nagato… Have you ever kissed anyone?”
“No… But you knew that, we’ve grown together all this time and never met anyone else our age…”
“Would you like to try to do it… To see how it feels?”
Nagato’s eyes widened and his cheeks got redder. He felt all warm at his friend's tender caress on his cheek too. Considering no one was home but them, no one would know about it, he gathered up his courage as well and approached his face from Yahiko’s.
“Yeah… I don’t mind trying that with you.”
Yahiko approached his mouth from Nagato and the two teens kissed gently, closing their eyes. After the kiss lasted for a few minutes, they interrupted it and looked back into each other’s eyes, only hearing each other’s breathing. Then they kissed again, and again... They eventually fell lying down on the futons, and continued kissing each other repeatedly.
They hadn't planned to make it last this long, so when the door opened both of them jumped and looked horrified at Jiraiya.
Their teacher gasped and they hid under the cover. Jiraiya gently asked Konan to go into the bathroom to try on her outfits and approached the two boys.
“God this is going to be awkward... Hey you two, it's okay. I'm not mad.”
“... You're not?”
“No, of course not. I guess the hormones started their work... Get out of there and fix your hair, Konan wants to show you her stuff."
“... We're sorry…”
“Nagato, Yahiko, you don't have to be. You two are experiencing something natural. Nothing to be sorry about, don't feel any shame or guilt. There’s nothing wrong with kissing one another.”
“Even if it’s another guy?”
“Of course, it’s all good. Don’t feel bad about it. Plenty of men love other men. You can even like women too.”
Yahiko and Nagato fixed each other's hair, then sat down waiting for Konan to show them what she bought. She came out of the bathroom wearing a white dress paired with a butterfly hair clip. The two guys hyped up her little show, cheering for all her new outfits and being so glad to see her so happy.
After she was done, Jiraiya started preparing dinner. As they were sitting at the table, Nagato, fidgeting with his hands, whispered to Yahiko:
“Yahiko... Thank you for today, it was nice.”
His friend didn't answer but his cheeks turned very red and he looked away awkwardly.
Konan arrived at the table after changing into her pajamas and sat next to them, smiling at them, and took Yahiko’s hand.
“You two, you know I'll love you no matter what?”
“Konan…”
“Give me your hand too, Nagato.”
Nagato hesitated for a bit but gave in upon Konan's insistence, very awkwardly. She grinned and squeezed their hand.
“You're my best friends, and my only family, I love you both and nothing will make me hate you. Okay?”
“Konan... Thank you. You're so kind.”
“It's normal. If you two become lovers, it's my job as your best friend to support you.”
Yahiko and Nagato's face turned red and they both vehemently shook their heads trying to formulate something intelligible.
“It-it's not what you think!! We're not -”
“We're not in love!!!”
“Y-yeah we're friends just like with you.”
“But you two... When we came home with teacher Jiraiya, you two were gently kissing on the floor. I saw you. Yahiko was on top of you Nagato. You were very cute.”
Their embarrassment increased as they had no idea their friend saw it all, since she didn't say anything until then.
“Y-y-you... You saw us???”
“Ohmygod she saw it all…”
“It's okay!!! I didn't want to embarrass you two, you don't have to feel any shame!”
“.....”
“It- it was just a one time thing... Nagato and I...We just wanted to try kissing... But it will never happen again.”
“Yeah. It was just today.”
“Oh... Well. Still, if one day you two change your mind and decide to be together I won't mind.”
The two guys smiled at her and she squeezed their hand again.
“We love you too Konan, you're the best."
“Yeah. I'm glad it was you who saw us and not some stranger.”
“Yeah. At least, even if we're a little embarrassed, we know we're safe with you and Jiraiya.”
“Still, it's too bad. You two were really cute. You had such serene expressions before Jiraiya entered and ruined your fun. Nagato, Yahiko, you're so cute when you blush.”
The two guys flinched and hid their red face, their heart racing from being called cute by objectively the cutest of their group. The three of them chuckled and hugged as Jiraiya put the hot dish on the table. These three’s friendship really was made to last.

1, 14 and 19!
The first fandom I ever developed a ship for was actually Naruto. I was in a few fandoms like Prince of Tennis and Ghost in the Shell, but for some reason Naruto resonated with me the most lol
14. In Naruto, it was a tie between NejiTen and LeeSaku. Upon first view of Neji and Tenten I was like THEM. But then, I saw how Lee went out of his way to protect Sakura in the Forest of Death the way he did and how much of a dick Sasuke was to Sakura is was like Lee is here and ready to love you girl! Sasuke isn't ready yet for your love!!!
19. I can usually be convinced with good fan art and fanficiton... but I'd have to say NejiHina is my top no-no ship. I find their familial ties a bit of a road block for me their fathers are twins, which genetically they are half siblings/cousins. Neji did have a lot of growth as a character, but I saw his acts of service to Hinata being a way to make up for being such an asshole to her for a situation he had very limited information about until he got clapped by Naruto and Hiashi spoke to him. I think Neji felt guilty and wanted to make it up to Hinata to fill that role of protector, not really a romantic kind of love. An during the war arch, he does show that he is filling that older brother vibe with Hinata and she is absolutely delighted that he has stopped hating her and the main branch. Also, Hinata was basically written for Naruto specifically, they were always going to be end game. In Naruto SD/Rock Lee and pals, it was hard for me to watch; Neji was a bit out of character and I understand that it was supposed to be a comedic rendering to break up the seriousness of the war...but it also wasn't cannon either, it just followed the timeline. Neji's love for Hinata was overly played and a bit cringey to what was already established for his cannon character; especially in pre-shippuuden Neji tries to support Hinata in going to see Naruto before he leaves for training for a few years. To me *holds up hands in defense* that's familial love, not really a romantic thing.
InoSasu- absolutely not. LeeTen- I used to like this idea, but Tenten treats Lee like crap as a gennin according to the flashbacks, and she is written like the babysitter for Lee/"mom" friend for Lee and Gai in the games and anime. They give big bestie, sibling energy to me. KibaHina- also a ship I considered, but Kiba teases Hinata too much like a brother.I have a love-hate relationship with SasuSaku; hear me out. Sakura deserved better writing, she deserved better character development, and she deserved a bigger apology from Sasuke. This girl busted her ass to love this man for her whole life and he treats her like basura the majority of the anime. Yes he does show hints of caring for her, but when I read the soft novels, it was implied that Sasuke only got with her because she was persistent with him. I love that Sakura followed her heart and was dead set on Sasuke, but I hate that she tolerated that disrespect for so long. Sakura is good for Sasuke to teach him how to love and she is his light, but I just hated how it was written that she was so smitten by him it became her whole personality! Sakura is such a great character with a lot of growth potential but she was used a ploy for Sasuke.

Hello! i’ve read your last post about the UCM and Sasuke’s belief and wants of revenge. Ive never saw any opinions like this and it kinds of made me think more about it thanks to you and understood more in a new light!!!
I have a question tho, i don’t think you ever talked about it here but i would love to have your insight on Tobirama. i never liked him, i always thought he was a closest racist and wanted to marginalize the Uchiha. Maybe im wrong but its really something that bothered me. The fact that he believed that Uchihas must be controlled bc the Village is more important instead of engaging in an open and honest talk with them to let them feel accepted by the higher ups.
And also!!! the curse of hatred he talked about when Edo Tensei, ive never really understood it clearly either😔 Wasn’t it like some gossip he spread or something?? maybe im biased and i would love your insight on this!! Ty for your hard work ❤️
First of all, Thank you for this ask as a response to this post.... And Thanks for giving a Benefit of Doubt about something you are not sure of instead of going full on Hate for misinterpreted reasons or selective reading.
Before that, I’d suggest you to read this post... [Post Link]... about Obito’s version of Uchiha Clan flashbacks’ contradictions & loopholes that led to so many misinterpretations in the Fandom. Because it’s very important to get some context and also I talked about this character, a little bit, over there. This post is just the extension of that post.
Short Answer to your Question:
Tobirama is not a Racist.
Long answer as follows:
When we pick a single panel related to a character and base our opinions on that panel.... Almost every character would appear Detestable. I could easily call Sasuke as a Murderer for ramming Chidori into Naruto's lungs citing he hated Naruto. But when we consider the context, his sub-textual feelings and his Character Journey as a whole.... That would prove he never hated Naruto. We should do the same for every others characters too.
All we have to do is to put the context & subtexts together and see if our opinions were right... And If our opinion doesn't match for more than 3 or 4 panels, then all we have to do is to re-evaluate and re-read the material properly all the while by KEEPING CANON IN MIND... DON’T BRING IN HEADCANON OR PREJUDICED OPINION. This is very important for making sensitive claims like Racist, Homophobe. And this post’s intention is just to present every panels related to him and let the readers judge him for what he is...
MEANING : DON’T IGNORE ANY PANELS & VERIFY IF THE CLAIMS ARE TRUE BY LOOKING FOR MORE PROOFS.
Let me address your issues and then I’ll take it from there.
The Curse of Hatred he talked about when Edo Tensei... Wasn’t it like some gossip he spread or something??
Firstly, He never used the word ‘Curse of Hatred’ at all...
Tumblr media
“It’s the Cursed Destiny of Uchiha”
Even the Japanese Raws says the same
呪われた運命 Norowareta unmei Cursed Fate
This is very different from Curse of Hatred
憎しみの呪い Nikushimi no Noroi Curse of Hatred
Well, Whatever Tobirama said may not be very different from the real term... But I just want to clarify on that.
Secondly, The term ‘Curse of Hatred’ was first used by Obito (disguised as Madara). When Obito met Naruto, Kakashi & Yamato to talk about Sasuke’s plans to destroy Konoha.
Tumblr media
This scene happens way before the Hokages got resurrected by the Edo Tensei.
Tumblr media
And this is the first time the term ‘Curse of Hatred’ was used in the series in Chapter 462... Whereas Tobirama was resurrected only in Chapter 618.
“It was fate... The Uchiha Clan’s blood stained destiny to be consumed with hate... The curse that has plagued our clan since it’s inception...”
And there’s no need for Obito to lie about his own clan’s Curse or Fate or however you describe it. Added to that, Obito is referring to this Curse of Hatred that has been plaguing Uchiha Clan since their Clan’s Inception.... I am pretty sure, Uchiha Clan was found long back before Tobirama was even born....
So, He didn’t invent that term.... The only possibility that he could’ve invented that term is to time travel to Rikkudou Sennin’s time and put that Idea into Indra’s head and it got gradually passed down...
Thirdly, Tobirama never spread such rumour to anyone... If that’s the case, Every villagers would’ve been afraid on the sight of any Uchihas just like how they were afraid of Naruto because he was the source of Greater Power that was sealed inside him and they were afraid that Naruto could go out of control at any time...
Tumblr media
Here, Kakashi is revering Uchiha Clan as ‘Elite Ninjas’ but calling out Obito was being ‘Non Elite’ or ‘Dumb’.... And throughout Part 1, I am very sure Sasuke was treated like a Gifted Child... Same with Itachi.... And same with Sasuke’s Father....
This is not the behaviour of how a Cursed Clan should be treated. So, it’s very clear that no one in the Village knew any of this. And Tobirama didn’t spread any of those rumours either.
The fact that he believed that Uchihas must be controlled by the Village is more important instead of engaging in an open and honest talk with them to let them feel accepted by the higher ups.
I really don’t know the source for this claim.... But it was Danzo and the other councilors who marginalized the Uchiha clan after the Kyuubi Incident... They should have been the one who should should have engaged in an Open and Honest talk.... Where did Tobirama come into any of this??? He was long dead by the time Kyuubi Incident had happened anyway...
But still, I am attaching the panels in the EXACT ORDER here...  The following panel is from Chapter 399, Page 16.
Tumblr media
Here Obito is saying, “Only our Eye Techniques are Capable of controlling the Kyuubi...”
Canonically up until that point, that’s true... Kurama himself told this to Sasuke...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Unbelievable.... To think you’d even be able to suppress my power...”
And we all know how Naruto struggled to control the power of Kurama until Pain Arc... Whereas Sasuke could easily suppress it...
This is a known fact among Konoha Higher-Ups and hence they suspected Uchiha Clan. Whereas in the very next panel, Obito was blatantly lying that it was a Freak Occurrence, while it’s canonically proved that Obito (an Uchiha) was the one who released it...
Which proves the Konoha Higher Ups’ Suspicion right... Isn’t it???
I am saying, their Suspicion was right but their actions were not... Not one bit... This is where they should have conducted an Honest and Open talk with the Uchiha Clan instead of controlling them by marginalizing them.
And in the same chapter 399, Page 17... the very next page... We get this...
Tumblr media
“The Clan’s land was moved to the remote corner of the Village... They had effectively been quarantined...”
This is the page where the words ‘Discrimination’, ‘Quarantined’ appears for the first time... Tobirama had nothing to do with these pages at all... Because he was already dead...
I always thought he was a closet racist and wanted to marginalize the Uchiha.
Again, Like I said... Tobirama had nothing to do with the Marginalization of Uchihas...
Let’s consider, if Uchiha Clan were indeed Ostracized by him... Since they are already in the corner of the Village back from the time of Tobirama, What is the need for Danzo to move their Lands into a Remote corner of the Village???
What’s the need to marginalize an already marginalized clan anyway????
Like it doesn’t make sense at all... Especially there’s no proof for it.
Or, Let’s go back to the situation of Uchiha Clan people before the Kyuubi Incident...
Tumblr media
This is Obito when he was like 12... The Old Lady was very receptive towards him and indeed gifting him a Candy. If only Obito belonged to a Marginalized Clan... Would she even be this nice to him??? Or do you think If this Old Lady knew about that so called ‘Curse of Hatred’... Would she even walk with him without making suspicious face??? Won’t she be looking at him with a look of terror???
Whereas if it were Naruto... The Old Lady wouldn’t even walk with him... Let alone being nice.
I know some people will say, the Old Lady might have belonged to Uchiha Clan... Lo and Behold, Obito himself says out loud...
Tumblr media
“Now that I think about it... I know every old person in Leaf...”
How is it that a boy from a Hate Filled Clan knew every old person from the leaf???? Not to mention he was happy doing that.... Unlike Naruto who was never shown to have a happy times with anyone in that village before Age 12???
What Naruto faced was the real Ostracization or Marginalization....
Tumblr media
This is a panel which clearly shows how Killer Bee was treated in his own Village.... I mean, If the Author could show some struggles of Discrimination for a side character... Why didn’t he expend his energy to show something like this for the Uchiha Clan plot which takes 50% of his story???
Also, Let’s say, if Tobirama did indeed marginalized them
Tumblr media
This is the panel from Obito’s version of the Flashback where he talked about Tobirama.
Tumblr media
“But even that was a means to keep them out of Goverment Affairs.... They were simply being grouped together to make keeping an eye on them easier...”
Why didn’t Obito say anything about Tobirama marginalizing Uchiha here like he did with Hiruzen & Danzo panel, as I attached earlier???? He is saying that the Military Police Force were given to the Uchihas to keep them out of the Government Council and they were being spied upon by the ANBU....
I debunked this claim about How Uchihas were only allowed to become a Cop in my attached post... Obito wanted to become an Hokage, Itachi was in ANBU, Shisui was not a cop, Apart from Shisui and Itachi, there were many Uchiha members in the ANBU team... Kagami wasn’t a cop....
Whereas Orochimaru says something else regarding the reason for the Establishment of Military Police Force...
Tumblr media
This Panel!!!
Another panel which gave rise to ‘Tobirama Discriminated Uchihas’ allegations. Well, the sentence “Succeeding in bluntly chasing them away to the outskirts of the Village...” seems like he marginalized Uchiha, Doesn’t it??? Whereas Obito in his Flashback never made any mention about Marginalizing Uchihas... Which one is true anyway???
While we all fail to notice Orochimaru also says.... “The Ones who control crime sometimes tend to be disliked...”.... Well, Canonically Everyone adored Itachi and Sasuke.... The Academy teacher was very interested to speak to Fugaku who is the Head of the Military Police at that time... And there is no canonical evidence in the Manga about anyone disliking Uchihas because they were police... So, where did this claim comes from???
And also, the Same Orochimaru says.... “Moreover, because of their Authority they tend to become conceited (Arrogant).”.... Again... This sentence contradicts what Obito said in his own flashback, Doesn’t it??? Here Orochimaru saying Uchihas became Arrogant because of the Position which gave them the superior Authority... If people becomes Arrogant because of their Job.... It must be really some high level powerful position as opposed to selling Food Products and Flowers.... Whereas Obito was saying that Police Force was a position to keep the Uchihas away from the Government Affairs... That is, the police force is some low level position that was given to the Uchihas to spite them.
Both Obito and Orochimaru’s Claims about Military Police Force contradict each other and doesn’t match up at all. Not one bit....
So,
WHICH ONE IS TRUE, BY THE WAY????
Tumblr media
Lo and Behold.... Sasuke himself wants to hear the truth from the Dead Hokages.... before his plan to destroy Konoha....
Tumblr media
“The Ones who know Everything”
Meaning, Whatever they say are the Ultimate truth..... Sasuke decided to destroy Konoha because he believed Obito’s Flashback was the Truth. But After meeting with Itachi, Sasuke got doubts... If Uchiha Clan was really discriminated for generations after generations by Konoha, even after knowing that... why would Itachi go so far for this Village??? Why would his Brother’s best friend Shisui went so far to commit Suicide???
To clear all his doubts... He wanted to hear everything from the Hokages. If Sasuke decided to destroy Konoha after hearing Obito’s Flashback... Sasuke’s decision to protect Konoha was based on Hokage’s version of the Truth.
And this whole arc was all about Sasuke (As a voice of Audience) asking a question to the Hokages based on his Opinion and the Respective Hokages gives him their Answers... It’s a Q&A Arc where their Answers should be taken as the Final Truth...
So, Whatever Obito and Orochimaru claimed about the Military Police force should be taken with a Grain of Salt. Because it defeats the Purpose of this entire arc and both of those people were making speculations about the Era they didn’t live in and moreover.... Both of their claims contradict with each other... [[I know people believe their claim as the Gospel... But If their claims was true... Why is it contradicting??? ]]
The real reason for Tobirama to give the Military Police Force to Uchihas was...
Tumblr media
“I gave them the positions that they were eminently qualified for! And I believed that even if another Madara were to emerge, He could be dealt with right away!”
Meaning... If someday a person like Madara were to show up attacking the Village, Uchiha Clan with their Military Police Force & their Sharingan can able to deal with that person... [[You may claim... This is a lie he makes up to cover his mistakes... And I have Answer for that as well]]
Oh by the Way.... Usually you see panels where Hashirama was asking, “Tobirama! Haven’t I told you not to persecute the Uchiha?!”
That’s such a wrong meaning...
Now it may seem like, Tobirama treated every Uchiha Clan members were some Future Madara and gave them the position out of Fear of Uchihas and also to watch over themselves as a Fail-Safe measure... Right???
Because Orochimaru also asks the same thing here...
Tumblr media
まるでマダラはトラウマのょうですねそんなにうちはが怖いと Marude madara wa torauma no ~youdesune son'nani uchi wa ga kowaito It's seems like Madara is your trauma to frighten you so much about the Uchiha
And this where Tobirama explains about the Uchiha Clan peoples’ Power Mechanism and why he gave that Military Police Force to them...
Tumblr media
“When a Member of Uchiha Knows Love, it’s as if the feelings they were blocking out arise.... Their Love is too strong... And they can end up running wild..”
My Question is... “Was he wrong to say Uchiha’s love is so strong and they end up running wild???”
Because it’s been canonically proven that they are capable of going out of control.
Tumblr media
This is Obito slaughtering Mist Ninjas after seeing Rin’s death.... And what about that Sasuke’s grand stint in Kage summit Arc???? Obito went out of control because of Rin.... Sasuke went out of control because of Itachi....
And then he says this...
Tumblr media
“When Uchiha suffer after experiencing the loss of a loved one or despair... Special Chakra sprouts insde their brains, which affects the optic nerve and produces a change in their eyes...”
Again.... Was he wrong about Sharingan????
Tumblr media
Obito evolving his Sharingan after the Loss of Rin...
Tumblr media
Sasuke evolving his Sharingan after deciding to part away from Naruto...
And then he finally says this...
Tumblr media
“The Sharingan aligns with the person’s feelings and quickly makes the person stronger... together with the hatred in their Hearts... Almost all of the ones who experience strong feelings are captured by Darkness and Turn Evil... The Deeper their Darkness becomes, the more powerful their eyes get, and it’s impossible to handle them...”
And this fact was also proven true...
Tumblr media
Obito: Susanoo...? It looks completely different from the previous one... Yes... Every step of the way, his Hatred has made him more powerful to the point his body reacts to it...
Karin: Is that really Sasuke?? This feels nothing like his normal Chakra...
Sasuke evolved his Susanoo out of his sheer Hatred.... And later he stabbed Karin which signifies his venture into the Darkness....
So, All of the claims Tobirama made in 2 pages were completely proven true by Obito and Sasuke himself. If these claims were true, then the fact that he gave that position to the Uchihas out of respect and not for Marginalization purpose is also true....
But now you may ask... What is the relation between Sharingan’s power & Military Police Force & Stopping Madara???
Well, Tobirama’s entire claim is that the Uchiha Clan members were one bunch of Extremely Loving people... If they lose their love, they suffer a lot and that sufferings arouse a chakra in their eyes which evolves their Sharingan. And the more the Sharingan evolves, the stronger they become which also gives rise to the Hatred in their Heart.... And almost all those sensitive people were captured by Darkness and turned into Evil....
Meaning... Uchiha Clan people gain power when they protect their loved ones... And unfortunately if they lose their loved ones, they gain even more power which makes them even more stronger... If Someone so powerful like Madara threatens the Village, Someday... In order to protect their Loved Ones who lives inside the Village, Other Uchiha people could protect the village very well as a Police Force who has the authority to deal with the Criminals like Madara...
Tumblr media
Just like how Sasuke got stronger when he was trying to protect Naruto from Haku...
Tumblr media
Just like how Obito got stronger when he was trying to protect Kakashi from those Stone Ninjas...
Even though Canonically they were proven to succumb into Hatred and going out of Control.... Instead of deeming Uchiha Clan as ‘Hatred’ personified, Instead of deeming everyone of them as Unstable.... Tobirama wanted to channel their Strong Love and the power that comes out of it as a means to protect the Village through the Police Force. And this following panel proves everything...
Tumblr media
“I wanted to channel the Uchiha’s power into something that could be of helpful to the Village...”
I seriously don’t understand why this Explanation gave rise to ‘Tobirama is a Racist’ claim.... If he was truly a Racist, The very first thing he should have done was to spread delusional lies about Uchiha Clan to all the Villagers and make them hate Uchiha Clan...
He knew about Uchiha Clan member’s Power Mechanism and yet he didn’t say about these to anyone in the Village... Well, If people come to know these facts, they would definitely be afraid of them just like they were afraid of Naruto going out of control....
Tumblr media
“To pull out the Kyuubi Chakra without losing himself...”
Unlike Obito and Orochimaru’s claims about Military Police Force which had no proof or valid panels to support them... Tobirama’s reasoning has a Big Proof inside Canon....
Tumblr media
“But you must not lay a hand on the Village and on Uchiha Sasuke”
Itachi wanted to protect his beloved Brother from the Chaos that would have killed him... And He also wanted to protect his Village....
Itachi’s strong Love was what prevented a War and saved the Village. And this strong love was what Tobirama wanted to channel as a whole. Which he explains in this panel...
Tumblr media
“But it’s also true that they were very devoted. There were also many, like your Brother and Uchiha Kagami... That surpassed the boundaries of the clan and did a lot for the Village...”
He is basically saying what I’ve said before... “Yes, There are possibilities of people turning into Madara and destroy everything.... But at the same time they are so much capable of Intensely Loving something and that’s why they were very devoted to the village... There were few people like Itachi and Kagami who loved the Village by surpassing the boundaries of the Clan...”
Tobirama trusted their capability to love and gave them a Law Enforcement Position. And that’s why I never considered him as a Racist.
But....
Despite all these panels.... Why do a part of Naruto Fandom consider him as such???
That’s because he speaks Truth in a Blunt way which sometimes ends up being Insensitive (to the readers not to the Characters involved though).
And Also some heavily Mistranslated words.
And also people misinterpreting Brotherly dynamics and Mischaracterization of Hashirama.
Firstly... The translation error....
Tumblr media
あれほどうちはをないがしろ にしてはならぬと念を押して! Are hodo uchi wa o naigashiro ni shite wa naranu to nen o oshite! I told you over and over to not neglect/make light of/slight the Uchiha!
The term Naigashiro means Neglect or Slight or Make Light of.... Persecute is nowhere near to the meaning like they put in those translations. Neglect or ‘Make Light of’ makes more sense considering the context...
Like I said above, Hashirama never used the word ‘Persecute’ in his Question... That’s totally a grave translation error...
And then this panel....
Tumblr media
Bigotry???? Again a very wrong translation....
そういう言い方はょせと言ったはずだぞ Sōiu iikata wa ~yose to itta hazuda zo I told you not to talk like that
Tumblr media
The above one is the right translation.... Such kind of wrong translation with Sensitive words like Bigotry, Persecute carries a different meaning to the western readers.... This is one of the reason he was deemed as a Racist... But in Anime, the translation was accurate, though..
Secondly, In the above panel, he asked....
“An Uchiha, eh? No wonder you are with the enemy...”
I am asking.... Was he factually wrong to say that???
At this point, We have seen 4 Uchihas inside the story... Sasuke, Itachi, Obito and Madara.... Madara was an enemy, Obito was an enemy too... Itachi was not an enemy but posed himself as one by joining Akatsuki... Sasuke was an enemy because he also joined Obito and kidnapped Killer Bee, And on top of that he was standing right next to Orochimaru who once resurrected these very Hokages and used them to destroy the Village...
Actually Sasuke was proving his assumptions right....
But still.... Let’s just say Tobirama was wrong to say like that....
Then what about this???
Tumblr media
悪に憑かれた一族だ Aku ni tsuka reta ichizokuda It's a Clan possessed by Evil
Another Blunt remark from Tobirama about the Uchiha Clan.... To which Sasuke was asking, “What is it about the Uchiha Clan??? What do you know?!”
Well, people are making a great deal out of this sentence “It’s a clan possessed by Evil”.... Like it’s some racist remark about Uchiha Clan and all that.... While I agree that this comment is definitely Insensitive especially Sasuke is just a Child. But is it not weird that.... Sasuke was asking about his own clan to Tobirama, out of all people, even though he made a hard-hitting claim about his own clan????. If he was written as a racist, Narratively his opinion will always be biased against Uchihas... Because Racist always spout wrong things... But Sasuke was specifically asking him....
But is it a Racist remark???
If that’s the case... What do you say about this following panel...???
Tumblr media
Here Sasuke specifically asking, “What do you mean about The Uchiha being possessed by Evil?!”
To Which Hashirama was giving off a GUILTIFUL, KNOWING & ACCEPTING LOOK in the highlighted panel to the Bottom Right .... Like he knows the fact about that topic but he doesn’t want to talk about it out loud.... So, Hashirama knows about the fact that the Uchiha Clan being possessed by Evil or Hatred... But if someone openly points out the fact... Hashirama will get mad... Which is totally a biased behaviour, Don’t you think???
And this is not the only time...
Tumblr media
“The Stronger their hate, the greater their ocular powers... That’s the secret of the Sharingan...”
Here Tobirama talks about the Hatred being the source of the Sharingan.... And immediately Hashirama reprimands his Brother just like he did before by saying, “Quit saying such things... Tobirama!!!”...
Tumblr media
Whereas here, Again Tobirama talks about the Sharingan and the hatred infront of Sasuke.... And here, Hashi agrees with it... “Madara really loved his little Brother... Probably even more than your Brother”
And this thing happened yet again....
Tumblr media
Here Tobirama is saying, “However... If they ended up destroying themselves for the sake of the Village, that cannot be helped...”
People take these lines as if Tobirama was happy to see Uchihas self-destructed each other... But in reality, he was just indifferent....
Tumblr media
And in the next panel, Hashirama gets emotional by saying the same line, “Would you stop talking like that....?”....... To which Tobi says, “What’s important is the Village... The Village is the Cornerstone...”
Whereas Few pages later... Hashi says this,
Tumblr media
“Anyway... You had a really Great Brother, Sasuke.... He’s a Better Shinobi than me...”
Isn’t this what Tobirama said about Uchiha Clan with an indifferent tone in the above panel??? Hashi is praising Itachi for saving the Village here... So, Can we take Hashirama was also gleefully happy to see Uchiha self-destructed themselves, according to the Racist logic????
Added to that....
Tumblr media
“I still believe... that protecting the village is the best way to protect people, Shinobi and Children...!”
Again, isn’t this what Tobirama talked about earlier that Village is the Important thing...????
In all the above instances, Be it when he said, “A Clan possessed by Evil” or “Hatred is the Source of Sharingan” or “Village is important”, Every fact was accepted by Hashirama himself... It’s just that he was too enamoured with the Uchiha Clan by pulling the punches knowing full well about everything but doesn’t want to talk about it straight forwardly....
Am not saying Hashirama was wrong... It’s just that he was being extremely Idealistic by believing Everything will be alright... Whereas Tobirama was addressing the real issues of Uchiha Clan by being Practical....
Hashi was being Soft Spoken and Tobirama was being Blunt...
Hashi says ‘This is not Good’ while Tobi says ‘This is bad’.... This is their Brotherly Dynamics....
But people think Hashirama was calling out his brother for being a ‘Racist’ or ‘Bigot’ (a translation error)... While not realizing, Hashirama also agrees with him about everything...
Which is backed up by this Panel...
Tumblr media
“My brother was too soft.... And Madara was too Dangerous.... My Role as Second Hokage was to mediate between them while protecting and reinforcing the Village”
Tobirama said,  “An Uchiha, eh? No wonder you are with the enemy...”
Well, It’s that same person who said this following as well....
Tumblr media
“Your Brother wasn’t the only one... One of my subordinates was Uchiha Kagami, A man a lot like your brother...”
He calls A spade A spade... Give compliments where it’s necessary... If he was a racist, he shouldn’t have said this at all...
Which even surprised Sasuke to the point of asking, “I thought you hated the Uchiha?”
Tumblr media
And he clearly gives his reason here in this panel.... “That’s not true... I simply treated every clan who would pose danger to the Village with extreme caution... Uchiha Clan just happened to be particularly disposed to be considered such... But it’s also true that they could feel such deep love.... Just like your Brother and Kagami who transcended the Framework of Clan and devoted themselves to the village...”
He is calling Naruto & his Brother as a Fool...
Tumblr media
At the same time he is praising Naruto as a person who gives Hope just like his Brother...
Tumblr media
He called Minato as this comedian...
Tumblr media
At the same time, He praised Minato as the one who saved the Shinobi World...
Tumblr media
He called Uchiha Clan as A Clan Possessed by Evil.... At the same time he also called them as The Most Lovable clan....
But somehow, Pointing out Uchiha Clan’s instability is called as Racism, huh??? I feel this is super-hypocritic...
Still.... If all these explanation doesn’t help... I just want an answer to these following panels....
Which racist would want to make Peace Agreement with the enemy...????
Tumblr media
This scene happens right after their brother Kawarama’s death who was killed by the Uchihas. Instead of getting angry at the Uchiha clan, he is speaking rationally without getting into emotional rage of going for Revenge...
If he were a racist, shouldn’t he be pushing towards the Revenge by making an Hate Speech against them??? Am not saying anyone who pursue Revenge are racists... What I am trying to say is that If a child, even after suffering a loss could able to think rationally and find a solution about how to stop the problem.... Then that person could no way be a Racist...
Which racist would put his Young Team Members’ lives first, which also includes an Uchiha and makes himself to become a sacrificial piece???
Tumblr media
This is a flashback of Team Tobirama where their deadly situation forces someone to act as a decoy... The Person the Bottom left is Kagami Uchiha...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uchiha Kagami was also a member of his Team.... If he was a Racist, shouldn’t he send Kagami as a decoy??? Or Why would he keep an Uchiha in his own team, in the first place???
Also, if Kagami stepped into volunteer as a Decoy, he would’ve become an Hokage... But Hiruzen, A Sarutobi clan member volunteered for it and he became the Third Hokage...
Racists are people who think their Race are the Best.... Why didn’t Tobirama didn’t have any Senju Clan member in his Team, I wonder????
Which racist would try to ask Madara to not kill Sasuke, an Uchiha?
Tumblr media
-
-
Which racist would try to Yell at Madara for killing Sasuke, an Uchiha?
Tumblr media
-
-
Which racist would want to desperately save Sasuke, an Uchiha with his own forbidden Jutsu?
Tumblr media
-
Which racist would advise Kabuto on how to save Sasuke, an Uchiha?
Tumblr media
-
Which racist would help Sasuke to Teleport to wherever he want to???
Tumblr media
-
Which racist would be glad to leave the Shinobi world in the hands of the Young Generation (Naruto and Sasuke who is also an Uchiha)???
Tumblr media
-
I don’t know, Man.... Why is he desperate to save Sasuke at all costs??? Like he doesn’t owe him anything... He won’t gain anything either... Shouldn’t a racist supposed to leave him to die????
And to further prove this....
Madara’s perception about Uchiha’s Eye Power & Abusing another person (Sasuke) from his own clan
Tumblr media
-
Madara claiming Hatred is the only thing that can be passed down...
Tumblr media
-
Itachi claiming his clan as Pathetic
Tumblr media
-
Obito (As Fake Madara) claiming that the Uchiha Clan is doomed to eternally seek Revenge...
Tumblr media
“The Uchiha Clan is cursed to Eternally seek revenge... Sasuke has taken the full burden of our clan’s hatred... And intends to afflict the Entire world with it’s curse...”
Am Sorry, This Curse of Hatred information was passed down through that Uchiha Stone Tablet.... And only very few Uchiha members knew about this.... Namely, Obito and Madara.... Because only people with Mangekyo Sharingan can read a part of the Tablet.... It’s not something Tobirama invented and spread it as rumour... This bad information was started by Tumblr Uchiha Apologists...
But I never seen any Apologists blaming neither Obito nor Madara for this Curse of Hatred thing...
-
Rikkudou Sennin claiming he expected someone would abuse the Power of Rinnegan... From Indra’s descendants... That is the Uchiha Clan...
Tumblr media
-
Whereas Tobirama was the only person to say
Tumblr media
Madara, Obito and including Rikkudou Sennin, judges Uchiha Clan as this Power hungry, Hate filled and Revenge seeking people.... Whereas he was the only person to say, “No other clan treasured Love as much as Uchiha...”
I don’t know... I see him as a Pro-Uchiha Figure here....

To conclude this,
Tobirama is a rational and practical person who speaks in a cutting and blunt manner without any bias towards anyone. Be it the ‘God of Shinobi’ Hashirama or Naruto or Minato.... He called them Dumb and at the same time he won’t hesitate to praise them as well...
He uses the same approach with the Uchiha Clan as well.... He called them out as a Clan possessed by Evil and at the same time he called them as the most Love filled Clan....
He hated Madara but also loved his Team member Kagami and praised Itachi, desperately tried to save Sasuke multiple times....
When everyone was deeming and judging Uchiha Clan as a Hatred, Revenge and Power Hungry people (Canonically it’s proven true as well... So, it’s not entirely wrong to call them as such.... Madara and Obito and Sasuke were the great example of it....) but Tobirama was the only one to dig deep behind their problem and found the real solution behind their instability and deemed them that they are capable of Loving so much and that their Hatred comes from their deep Love.... (This was also canonically proven true.... But no one knows this side of Uchiha Clan.... Not even their own clan members... Sasuke deeply loved Itachi & Naruto, Obito loved Rin, Madara loved Hashirama).
Somehow, he became a Racist because of what??? He spoke the truth???
Yes, Hashirama was seen reprimanding his Brother when someone is accusing him... But at the end of the day, he agrees with Tobirama completely. Hashirama is just soft-spoken whereas Tobirama was blunt. But Fandom taking Hashirama’s criticism as the One Single Truth screams Lack of Visual and Reading Comprehension.
And While he was a cautious man when it comes to protecting the Village, he was also the most trusting person by giving a Powerful position to the Uchiha Clan, invented Edo Tensei that would protect the Village.... But somehow Orochimaru misused this Jutsu on his whim and Uchiha Clan misused the Police Force power that was given to them.... And Blaming him back for everything???? Seriously???
And, Yes, Again for the Nth time I am saying that, It was Danzo who ostracized the Uchiha Clan and Hiruzen didn’t make it in time even though he was against it. And this is the Fact he himself agrees in this panel....
Tumblr media
“I could not maintain Lord Second’s village building well...”
So, Whatever Orochimaru and Obito talked about the Military Police Force should be taken with a grain of salt because they both never knew about what happened in that Era, they were just speculating, their claims have no further consolidated panel proof and both of their claims contradicts each other.... And also believing their words defeats the purpose of the Entire Arc... Since Hokages words were the Final One True Source....
If he were any kind of a Racist be it closeted or open, why didn’t he massacre the Uchiha Clan right after he became the Hokage???
Why did he have to research about the clan he sincerely hates???
And I am Sorry.... None of the claims from this Fandom about Tobirama being Racist or Marginalized or Hated Uchihas makes sense.... Especially there is no panel evidence or subtexts which proves their claim as right.... He hated Madara for sure and for a very good reason... But not the Uchihas as a whole....
I’ve brought in All the panels related to this character and presented my insights in this post. And I never thought he was a Racist. It’s only after I ventured into the fandom, I realized the existence of these claims. I went through the Manga again to verify if these claims were true in the hopes that I might have missed something but all I found was nothing
But I’ll let the readers judge whether he is one or not.

The current fandom discourse makes me wonder if ST had somehow attracted a large number of young/first time shippers, because the Baby’s First Fandom vibe I get rn is off the charts in terms of both fandom illiteracy and complete disregard for what I believed to be long-standing rules of online etiquette. The frantic, oddly competitive, outright obsessive and hostile behavior from a large chunk of this fandom is giving me honest to God flashbacks to the late 2000s/early 2010s and the Naruto and Homestuck fandoms going completely off the rails. Not to mention how many people are acting as if liking/shipping/redeeming a villain is some brand new concept…
Anyway, I wish them all the best and hope they grow out of this awkward phase as soon as possible. Shipping is really not that big a deal, and the idea that a number of fics on Ao3 is an indicative of the fandom’s quality is not only plain silly, it’s outright rude to all the authors and artists who contribute to the smaller tags. What matters in a fandom is the atmosphere it curates and the bonds it creates.
(Tumblr ate my first unfinished ask so I hope you didn’t receive it oops)
I started fandom at like 13 and was around other 13 year olds. Even this is next level than what I experienced back them lmao. I hope one day they look back and realise how ridiculous they're being right now
