#it was the same with kenjaku vs yuki and choso for me. You know he's not gonna die at this point so it's just going through the motions

Not to be an annoying But The Lore manga fan, but wasn't it literally said in text that a body being able to survive special grade curse possession was a 1 in a million chance 😐 And Kenjaku did the whole body swapsies + seduction thing to create a perfect host? Right?? So how come Sukuna can just suddenly hop into Megumi no big deal

One thing that bothers me about jujutsu is that the author doesn't know how to develop some characters. 1 Shoko Ieri is an interesting character but I find her apathetic without a cold and superficial personality. 2 itadori yuji doesn't seem to be a protagonist he seems more like a tool than the protagonist of the work. 3 nobara had no development dry and emotionless death. and many other characters. There were only 2 characters that really had development, which was gojo and geto, for me, they were the only ones that had it. Why do you think the author did this, is it because he didn't want to develop the characters that's why he killed many important characters? I would appreciate it if you respond.
This is a lot to answer so sorry if it gets confusing a little.
1.) and you really have to keep this in mind, is that the manga isn't finished yet. It's also not about to finish. We have just reached the beginning of the end and we have at least another 6 months to go if not more. Without the last panel drawn, we can't really talk about the stuff Gege hasn't put into the story yet.
Still, many of your points can be addressed.
Shoko: In both the present and the past storylines, she is a side character without her side of the story being shown too much. Her being cold and apathetic can be a fitting description of her in the present but in the past she was more open and easy-going.
When you say she has a superficial personality that's where your interpretation is a little off. For one, her personality changes and for two, her current personality reflects the cost that living as a sorcerer has on people. We are also shown her inner thoughts on occasion but interestingly, one of those thoughts kind of comments her role in the story.
(This thought also establishes that she has trouble understanding Gojo's point of view on his godlike status)
Tumblr media
The thing with Shoko is that we're never shown what she does: heal and save people. That's an aspect of her character that has been completely, and deliberately I say, missing until this point. But she has saved the lives of: Geto, Ino and Angel (plus some others) and she has therefore shaped the entire plot of the manga extremely.
But this I think will change in the most impactful way possible: with her saving Gojo's life by showing us for the first time what her CT is and how she heals people.
On Nobara, you're right. She had little character development and no reflection on her thoughts and beliefs. To this I say, read my post about her coming back because I believe that she will get that character develepoment and reflection when she re-enters the manga.
The same thing goes for Tsumiki. I was really disappointed when Yorozu died and Tsumiki basically disappeared from the story with her role never being more than that of a prop. But it was pointed out to me, that Tsumiki actually had been shown in an active role in the manga 70 chapters ago and that role will definitely be revisited when Megumi gets the spotlight again.
Now to Yuji. Did you realize that you contradicted yourself? You said that Yuji doesn't feel like a protagonist but you also said that Geto and Gojo had the best character developement. You're definitely talking about Hidden Inventory here but HI is and arc where Yuji is removed as the protagonist.
So the main protagonist being removed from the story temporarily has a purpose. You could say that that was a flashback and doesn't really count and that you mostly mean the 4 mini-arcs in Culling Games where Yuji wasn't present + the Sukuna/Yorozu fight + the Gojo/Sukuna fight.
Gojo/Suku we don't even count in this, that's a given, Sukuna/Yorozu is character showing plus setup for the future and Yuki/Choso/Tengen vs Kenjaku we don't count either, because that's a plot progression plus villain fight.
In my experience when people talk about Yuji not being a good protagonist because he isn't present often enough, they mean the arcs where Yuta, Maki and Hakari take centre stage. (The three other mini-arcs add to this)
Why would a mangaka do their story like this?
For world building. To be more precise: for plot building. Yuta, Maki and Hakari have important roles for the endfights and for that they needed character development (Maki), a show of their powers (all) and setups for the future (eg alliances with Kashimo and Uro).
Right from the beginning, JJK always moved the plot forward first. That's why the pace is so fast. The story is plot driven and not character driven, but that doesn't mean that the characters aren't given their time, just that that time isn't an entire chapter.
You can critizese this of course, I too would've liked small character scenes to have been expended on. That Yuji is taken off the picture for world building isn't sth I would critizise though. That's what happened in parts of Attack on Titan, and it also happens constantly in One Piece with Luffy albeit in Flashbacks.
It simply adds to the story when we can see other characters act on their own and while Yuji is back in the centre now, he will most likely take small steps back again to let other characters shine like Megumi eg. It also adds to his personality, but for the end of the manga he will be the centre of attention.

choso and/or megumi? :)
im so. i just spent so long typing this out only for the page to crash and delete everything i said. why does tumblr HATE ME anyway thank you for the ask i’ll try to remember everything i said the first time 😭
choso!!
favorite thing about them: his relationship with itadori is so cute! such a good brother! his facial expressions are so cute and silly! literally found out itadori was his brother and went “okay i’ll die for u now”
least favorite thing about them: the fact that they robbed him of his sick shoes in the anime. maybe something else will come up in the future but for now that’s it
favorite line: i got two! *in a life or death situation* can u just call me onii chan like once please please please please (paraphrasing), *facing kenjaku after finding out that they’re his dad and yuuji’s mom* “hey little bros look at this im gonna kill our parent
brOTP: gotta go w yuuji since they are in fact bros. his relationship w mahito is so silly to me tho, and i’d love to see him interact with todo!
OTP: i dont really have one. rn i think he’s too focused on his brothers to think abt that
nOTP: its not a no for me per se just that i think choso and yuki are very one sided. yuki clearly likes him but he’s too focused on yuuji rn
random headcanon: i can see him having a long skincare routine with a fluffy hairband
unpopular opinion: i think he is frequently mischaracterized in the name of fitting ppl’s sexual fantasies about him. ofc im all for having fun but i noticed it does impact broader perceptions of his character sometimes. could say this about any jjk man tho.
song i associate with them: mmmm maybe sunflower by post malone, don’t have a reason for it buy yea
favorite picture of them: have two
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MEGUMIIIII
favorite thing about them: he is me i am him we are the same. realistic depiction of what it is like to be abandoned by your parental figure and then be told you’re “special” for some reason and now too much is expected of you but you never wanted this in the first place. i could raise him so well let me adopt him. I Will Take Care Of Him.
least favorite thing about them: can’t. that’s my son.
favorite line: soooo many but i think about “so start by saving me itadori” DAILY. hourly even.
brOTP: love his relationship with kugisaki. would love to see him with yuuta more for purely self indulgent reasons that are not related to my dancers au….
OTP: obviously gotta go with ITAFUSHI i could talk abt them for hours. a brain virus fr they’re everything to me.
nOTP: 🧑‍💻 megumi & sukuna, megumi & toji, megumi & gojo, megumi & mai, etc. i try not to yuck other ppls yum but uh. i couldn’t even decide which of these was worst.
random headcanon: uhhh this ones a sad one, but i think before gojo came along, he and his sister were starving (compared to other characters shown as kids he looks much bonier), so even into adulthood, he has a hard time gaining weight from the effects of childhood malnutrition and as a result, is a bit less physically strong than he could potentially be (still very strong tho)
unpopular opinion: you already know what im gonna say. most overhated character in jjk. yall need to get off his back before i get violent im so serious rn everything he does is a perfectly valid reaction to the trauma he’s been through since he was literally a toddler
song i associate with them: i got so many…recently been thinking of dreams of losing teeth by suave punk & moon i already know by mount eerie the most
favorite picture of them: soo many…unhinged megumi vs pocket sized gumi i cant pick

HUGE JJK SPOILER
CHAPTER 221 (short) ANALYSIS and thoughts
I will use traductions by @ king_jin_woo on twitter
Ok i am not gonna talk about how refreshing seeing gojo was I missed him so much and Gege’s art style really made him look so good and he really was a breath of fresh air because I could talk about it for hours, no, i want talk more seriously about what happened
I think Gojo might have a plan to separate Sukuna and Megumi. He looked bothered that Sukuna was in Meg’s body and I know he isn’t really Mr.Emotional but he didn’t even freeze for a sec, he probably got himself ready for any kind of situation in that box and didn’t want either sukuna or kenjaku to see any kind of emotion (weakness) on his face, but this ? He didn’t seem to think much of it, since right after this ⬇️ he already thinks about something else.
Tumblr media
Yuji and Yuta also said they had some plans, and Yuki’s diary about the souls ? Something’s going on and I don’t think Meg will be possessed by the end.
When we saw Megumi in the abyss :
Tumblr media
I thought I was going crazy for seeing a infinite symbole reflecting on his face, meaning that Gojo will have a role in his saving, but maybe that wasn’t so stupid after all. And even if it’s a reach, that doesn’t really matter. Even if megumi is at the bottom of the abyss, there’s still light, there is still a way out of this, he just is in too much despair to see it.
(I’m still worried about the « let fate toy with you and die like a fool/clown » quote by Reggie tho)
Now about the fight gojo vs kenjaku & sukuna being postpone to the 24th december. When Kenjaku questions it, Gojo says that it would be confusing if Geto dies two different days, but that doesn’t make sense, when he comes out and sees Kenjaku, he tells him to be careful with his words as their will be his last, and he also said he came here to bury Geto properly. He didn’t give a shit about what day it was. So I think he has a plan and that was just an excuse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 24th December, the day they are supposed to fight, is obviously an important day for Geto and Gojo, as it is Geto’s death but also the day they (kinda) reconcilated, or at least, came to terms with each others. (Doesn’t that mean the same thing …?)
But it’s also and MAINLY an important day for …
Tumblr media
Yuta (and Rika) !!!
Lets not forget that the 24th December was pretty much Yuta’s awakening day. Also, Yuta vs Kenjaku was teased long ago then never bought up again, when Yuta sait he would kill Kenjaku by himself and not let Gojo kill his best friend a 2nd time.
Tumblr media
I really don’t think Gege would randomly drop that to never make anything with it again. Maybe we’ll see Yuta surpassing Gojo in term of strength, as he was always teased to be his successor as the strongest sorcerer. I do hope so. In anyway, I think Yuta will play a MAJOR role that day, and that Gojo has something in mind about him.
~~
Overall, I loved this chapter, (bonus points for Shoko wearing sunglasses (I hope they’re gojo’s) looking unimpressed and Kirara filming Gojo’s unboxing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It makes me so hyped for what’s to come next, even if Gojo learning about Nanami’s, Yaga’s and his students fate will break my heart. I also wonder how he will react seeing Choso alongside everyone, since the last (and first) time he saw him, Choso was pretty much trying to kill him and kill innocent people soooo yeah, maybe he’ll be a little reluctant but if he sees that everyone is chill with him, Choso should be fine haha
During the one month wait for the final fight, I hope we’ll have more interactions between the characters. Especially GOJO AND SHOKO PLEASE their friendship is so cute and I need Gojo to realise that he’s not alone, which might be hard considering the context and their different strength levels (I will adress this more in gojo’s analysis I SWEAR ITS COMING)
But Yeah, after all those fights, I hope we’ll have more development about character’s relationships, and some more world building, especially about the souls stuff and how sukuna who was human became a curse
Thank you for reading !

I get why you dislike Chosou because I'm not too keen on the bro-con/sis-con type characters as well. They make me uncomfortable and always always cross boundaries and are never questioned, I just hate that. When Chosou in his dream had Eso wear a shirt when that's not who Eso is, I really dislike that part. Reminds me of my family conveniently ignoring the parts of me they don't like or forcing me to conform. Yuuji's very tolerant because if I was him I'd give Chosou a hard talk about space and boundaries. These types of characters are also seen as comic reliefs which gets irritating after a while and are taken very lightly by the fandom. I don't get what's so funny the character has not developed at all, do people really like all those super creepy and annoying onii-chan moments? This is not Chosou hate btw I'm actually neutral towards him because Chosou's behaviour at least has a reason, it stems from his trauma so I can tolerate it. Being family doesn't excuse anything God only knows how many times my family has done something I hate and their reason? They love me and they wish only the best for me. Yeah well I know what's best for me stop interfering with and controlling my life. Sorry got a bit personal there. I think the issue is that the fandom doesn't see this character trait of Chosou as a flaw but rather they celebrate it.
Seeing Choso's character traits as flaws or things to celebrate is what it comes down to I guess. Which one applies is a very personal thing because he seems to just channel these emotions in people. Any time I openly criticize him people come with their entire family history at me and why family bonds are sacred or ask me about mine. At least with Yuuta fans I only have to deal with power scalers. Understandable I guess because I also have personal reasons for disliking Choso, similar to what you stated (especially the way he envisions Eso always rubs me the wrong way). It is exhausting though to state every time that some people just aren't close to their family and when someone is essentially a stranger to you, some shared DNA doesn't matter. Those conversations are pointless, it's two entirely different world views clashing, which is why I hate to talk about it and hate to publicly bring up my dislike for Choso unless someone directly asks me or on the odd chance that he becomes relevant to the plot.
His current weird place in the story is my main issue though because I can understand why he is the way he is, I just don't like those character traits and when nothing is done with them, it gets annoying after a while. Sure, him telling Yuuji to call him onii-chan might be funny to some, but that's all he has going for him at the moment and if there's nothing else, it's hard to care about him. Especially aggravating because the Death Painting experiment and his connection to Kenjaku gives a lot to explore, but we just don't get anything new. He couldn't even teach Yuuji Blood Manipulation. I mean, Mei Mei is another sibcon character, but manipulating her brother isn't her only character trait, it just emphasises her corrupt nature. It's Ui Ui's tho...which I guess is the point, but I think we can just conclude that Gege isn't very good at writing that particular trope, even if they seem to like it at least in case of Choso. Choso's thing used to be to avenge his brothers, which I found at least somewhat interesting because it challenged Yuuji's actions, and now his entire personality is Yuuji. I just hope for Yuuji's sake that Gege does something with him before he's killed off. I mean realistically he would've already died in the Yuki vs Kenjaku fight because he was way outclassed. Theoretically, Yuki's death got him some character development, but I haven't seen any of that yet. He acts the same as always.

Sending this ask as a virtual high five because you're one of the few people who have had similar thoughts about jjk as I do; Gojou as a very very flawed teacher (not a father figure to his students), Gojou as a person who has never left his time in high school, being able to tell how the latest fight would turn out from before it even started and most importantly seeing jjk as the tragedy (with a, imo, hopeful ending) it is.
Seriously, I thought I was too out of the shounen mentally by the way it felt like I was reading a completely different manga from the majority of jjk fans, I'm glad to know there's at least 10 of us about lol.
Since we appear to have a similar mentality I have some things I'd love a 2nd opinion on if you ever have the time for it:
1. I tend not to stick to "statements made by the author before a series finishes as gospel", but I keep thinking about this one interview with Akutami where he said he planned to either end the story with only one of the characters alive or all, but one (mcs as in Gojou, Megumi, Nobara & Yuuji). I keep thinking since the "1 of them alive" ending is closer to the true one, that it'd more ironically tragic for Yuuji to be the one to live, do you lean towards Megumi more in this hypothetical or Yuuji?
2. Some people have raised the idea that the narrator for jjk is an unreliable one, I've never really thought about it before I saw that one text box of the narrator just saying [Why?] during the Sukuna v. Gojou fight, just as unsure as Gojou was in the same panel. I don't know if I agree because the other examples feel a little too ambiguous for me (parapharsing here of course, but regarding when Yuuji is said to be "choosen by the black sparks" when he pulls off the black flashes vs when it's said "[they?/black flashes?] don't choose who to bless" when Yuuji fails to pull them off in his fight against Mahito in Shibuya & how it seemed to favour Kenjaku a little too much on the Yuki + Choso fight). To me the narration in jjk always felt like a blend or more like it would switch between a more object omniscient voice and a particular character's. What are your thoughts on it?
Thank you, or your nice words!
I've already stated this before but I'm in the camp that only one of the main characters will survive the manga, and it will be Megumi. I'm working on a post on why I think Megumi is going to live that I'll post up eventually.
The narration is tricky. I reread the Yuki vs. Kenjaku fight and there was only one instance of the third person objective narrator appearing to explain anything other than the laws of physics it says (They miscalculated) when talking about Tengen and Yuki being caught offguard by the act Kenjaku had a barrierless domain like Sukuna. I don't think it favored Kenjaku a little too much.
As for the Yuji vs. Mahito fight, Gege actually explains that just before Yuji pulls a black flash to finish Mahito he thinks "I need a black flash" and then the narrator explains that Black Flash's can't be done by anyone on command but Yuji was fighting so skillfully at the moment he made it appear that he was controlling them. The line "The Black Sparks don't choose who to bless" was said because anyone can pull off a Black Flash even Mahito. You don't get a Black Flash because you really need one to win a fight, you get one by being skillful so your opponent can use one too. Considering that Yuji was referred to as being "chosen by the black sparks" previously in the manga I wonder if Gege threw this line in to clarify the contradiction, that no one was chosen by the black sparks in truth it just appeared as so.
That's the Doylist explanation though, that Gege was using the prose to clarify that Yuji is winning because he's skilled at landing punched not because of plot convenience. The Wattsonian explanation is in a twitter thread in the comments of this post that the objective narrator isn't as objective, first it leads us to believe Yuji is chosen because Yuji views himself as the protagonist of a shonen manga and then afterwards when Mahito uses a black flash that mistaken assumption is corrected.
Narration-wise, I think we have three types of personal narration, personal thoughts, a person explaining their own technique, and a third impersonal objective narrator. The objective narrator infodumps stuff that can't be explained by one person, and also appears to say information the character probably wouldn't admit too like the narrator informing us that Sukuna felt fear for the first time in his life. These are objective statements not subjective ones.

9. worst part of canon
... I'll give you my biggest one but first, the one that just got up there as of yesterday if it is correct lol.
as of yesterday: gege using the author comments to nerf unlimited void to make the after affects weak to curses but strong vs humans. it calls into question p much both times gojo's used it both vs jogo and in shibuya vs jogo, mahito and choso. it was already established that it would affect non-sorcerers because no ce control and all that but saying it doesn't affect curses not only makes you think why the fuck would gojo even develop this DE if it only works well against humans but it did stun the two curses plus choso. and the human thing is still bullshit because choso recovered around the same time as mahito and jogo, which was pre-established because y'know..... curse energy. it's clear he just wants to speedrun, but I've been known that, so I guess it just makes me sad
the biggest grip I usually have: how yuki was handled. I know it's silly to even have hope after this speedblitz gege's been doing, but I still hold on to hope that gege didn't just introduce that yuki is a spv and her view/stand on tengen just for it to never be brought up again and her worth just reduced to a book she wrote offscreen for dumbass kusakabe to teach yuji with. she had so much mystery for a long time, the last special grade so it garnered a bunch of hype, an interesting ct, interesting motivations that still benefits the protagonists (still not clear who she was talking to post shibuya) and for what happened to her? I know kenjaku was not going to die of course and it was a fight i was super hyped for but for her to end up like that after her first bout? after having so much set up only to get left unanswered? again, I still cope and hold on to hope but it just sucks
that got long lol
21. part of canon you think is overhyped
sukuna taking over megumi. it was the best way to have limitless vs 10 shadows, I guess. I got over it at this point lol

Hello, can I ask from this ask game :
https://www.tumblr.com/threecheersforinking/677824836625694720/anime-ask-game?source=share
For anime/manga : Haikyuu, One Piece, and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Thanks 🌻
Sure, looks fun!
Jujutsu Kaisen
Favorite Character: Kenjaku, Yuuji, Yuki, Choso, Geto
Favorite arc/episode/scene: Different answers for all of these lol. Favorite arc would probably he a tie between Hidden Inventory/Shibuya (I think if I reread Culling Games though it could potentially overtake Shibuya, despite it's flaws). Favorite episode would be the Choso vs. Yuuji fight (ep 13 or 14 season 2?) And also episode 6 of season 2, Premature Death. Favorite scene is is probably a tie between the "I'm You" scene with Yuuji and Mahito and also Mai's death :'(
Character I think is underrated: Hmmm I think Hakari. I think this is the same answer I gave before but I don't think he gets enough love :( Just such a fun character, never disappointed when he gets screentime, he has such a cool CT and also mindset and I'm hoping we get to see more of his fight with Uraume!
Character I think is overrated: Hmm it really just has to be Gojo doesn't it lmao. And I say this where he's still in my top ten characters in the series and used to be in top five, but his popularity is so so so much that you also get terrible interpretations of this character ALL the time and it's very grating. I'm very sad he died (I cried when I read the leaks lmao) but my eye does twitch a lil when I see Gojo revival theories after like 6-7 months for him when the narrative keeps reaffirming he's dead.
Fave ship/Pairing: Threeway tie between Satosugu, Nobamaki, and Chosoyuki. Honorable mention to my rarepair Takaken.
Something I love about the series: I think Yuuji really is the heart of the series and he's such an engaging and complex protagonist. I think the themes around death and purpose in life and death are explored in such an interesting way with him where he's such a kid but has to grow up so quickly in the face of such overwhelming tragedy in his life, knowing that for a lot of the stuff that happens, it's because he's alive and acted as the vessel to Sukuna. Any and all complaints of JJK never involve him and any scene he's in, it's always when the focus is away from him that a few issues arise for me. Also as a sidenote, big fan of the lore when we do get crumbs of it lol.
(One Piece and Haikyuu!! will be under the cut)
One Piece
Favorite Character: For strawhats probably a three-way tie between Zoro, Sanji and Robin. Also Luffy. For non Strawhats probably Corazon and Law, Pudding, Dragon, Vivi, and Crocodile.
Favorite arc/episode/scene: This is so difficult with this series lmao. Favorite arc still has to be Water 7 (and if I can wrap Enies Lobby in there too I would). Favorite episode would probably be Episode 1015, that shit was movie quality lmao. Favorite scene...so many to choose from omg. Right now my gut says the moment Sanji came back to the crew in WCI, or maybe Corazon and Law's last moments, or maybe the Alabasta goodbye, or maybe Robin's backstory, or maybe Nothing Happened, or maybe Gear 5-I could go on lmao.
Character I think is underrated: People need to start RESPECTING Pudding omg. She's just a girl in this world, and she's fucked up, but her arc in WCI was so so good and I just see people call her a bitch (which, YEAH, that's the point genius). Obviously I don't like that she hurt Sanji, but she grows from that and changes and the why is very clear after getting her backstory.
Character I think is overrated: Controversial Opinion but Garp. Don't get me wrong I think he's a very well written character and he's interesting and needed in the story, but he has such a large fanbase that go "Golly he's such a victim of the system :(." ...You mean the system HE'S voluntarily upholding???? He's so terrible to Luffy but ESPECIALLY Ace, and Koby might be his student but Koby is already twice the man Garp is lmao. I feel no sympathy for this man sorry.
Favorite ship: Frobin and Zosan, honorable mention to Namivivi as well. Frobin makes the absolute most sense in this world and Zosan I find to be a very fun exploration of both characters, even if it makes a lil less sense sometimes.
Something I love about the series: So I'm never going to claim One Piece is perfect, I have my issues with it. But it is undeniable that there is such love and care and joy injected into this series, while also balancing some really dark/realistic themes and concepts. Such incredibly strong character writing and worldbuilding, but most importantly Oda threads his themes through EVERYTHING in such an engaging way. I can talk about this series for hours upon hours I love it SO much.
Haikyuu!! (Forgive me this is the one I've watched the least recently plus I'm anime only lol)
Favorite character: I actually haven't talked about him much but probably Sugawara! Also Oikawa, Hinata, Bokuto, and Tsukishima are some of my faves as well
Favorite arc/episode/scene: Ooh maybe The Spring High Preliminary arc? I'm very excited for the movie though and I've heard great things about that arc as well. And not really an arc but I really really enjoy anytime they're training together, some of my favorite moments from the show even though they are less hype lmao.
Character I think is underrated: Sugawara >:( I just get him like no other and also kind of related with him being the second best setter on a team anskslxlfl
Character I think is overrated: Hmm don't feel too strongly about any character being overrated, maaaaybe Kageyama? I know most people would say Oikawa lmao but I like him he's the kinda pathetic man I like <3
Fave ship: Bokuaka!! Kind of elaborated before but yeah I just think they have a very sweet dynamic where they compensate for the other's quirks very well. Also love Hinata/Kageyama ofc, and also IwaOi
Something I love about the series: I think this is such a strong start point for people getting into anime or sports anime, idk if it's necessarily doing anything revolutionary but it just does everything right you know? Good feel good show and I do also particularly appreciate the volleyball aspect as that is my favorite sport lmao.

Such a great chapter!✨️
Kenjaku is such a sore loser, like he acts so high and mighty but his plans got foiled by the wettest saddest guy in history. So embarassing for him. I can't imagine living for however long he lived and just staying in the same flop era with same flop goals. So cringe of him...😔
I am placing bets on Yuki vs Choso because I want those two to interact and because I think it would be funny if he betrays Kenjaku the second that fight ends. That man deserved more L's than the world is willing to give him (and the world is already willing to give him a lot of L's).
I love Mahito's dynamic with Hajime!✨️Like two stray cats that should only be adopted together. That car chase was iconic! It's honestly great to see Hajime slowly start to realize that there are things beyond strength. I can't believe Mahito hit a pedestrian...😔 Like, imagine the last thing you see being a green lambo with no driver and a person with cyan hair screaming in the other seat. I would never recover (neither will the random pedestrian).
“Haven’t you ever gone the opposite way on an escalator? Isn't it a fun challenge?”
This fool. “Fuck you! You know I’m scared of escalators!”
“That sounds like a you problem!”
“Of course it is, it’s my fear! That’s a me problem by definition!”
This made me laugh so hard, poor Hajime... being afraid of escalators...
I can't believe they gossiped about Nanami in a treehouse. Like, it's definetly something both of them would do, but I can't imagine Nanami's reaction if he ever finds out about this.
“Well, look what just happened with Sukuna and Suguru-kun,” Mahito says calmly, gesturing vaguely in the direction of the Nanami residence. “Kenjaku’s been scheming for over a thousand years, yet his meticulous goals were thrown off-course by the most depressed man in the universe! Isn’t that so totally hilarious?”
I love Mahito!✨️ He is so real for this one. Truer words have never been spoken.
“Whatever his plans are, nothing’s gonna go according to them. I wanna be there to watch that” Me too bestie, me too.
I did not expect the emotional conversation but I am so here for it. Sukuna's whole backstory is so in our face, but also not? It feels like watching one of those 1000 pieces puzzles. I know that they all form a cohesive picture, one that he loves to hint at all the time (he really needs some friends to talk to), but I also find it quite difficult to form that picture. Maybe I will make a list of all of the dramatic prejecting his issues on others he does to find it easier.
Mahito cried about Kashimo! I an way too emotionally invested in that interaction, but it was so cute!✨️
Sukuna's high emotional intelligence combined with 0 social skills is so fun to witness. Like, unlike Kenjaku's mysterious ass he is here infodumping about his trauma for free all the tine. King of never shutting up and never keeping things private.
"Water is best as ice" I see you, Sukuna, I see you—
Gojo really did not sign up for getting emotionally damaged by some theatre kid with 1000+ years worth of trauma.
Surprisingly, Sukuna seems genuinely offended. “I am not,” he shoots back. “Anyone who thinks gender correlates to strength deserves to be eaten alive by the gender they think is the weakest.” Progressive king!✨️
Gojo and Suguru are so cute this chapter.💖 Suguru really got a lot of character development (even if he had to lose an arm for it) and I am so happy for him!✨️
Tsumiki is getting a character arc! 🎉
Her argument with Megumi was sad, but also somewhat necessary for her? Like, it's good that she finally expressed her feelings, she needs to do that from time to time, even if yelling at Megumi wasn't realky the best way (even if Megumi was acting a bit like a jerk). At the same time, poor Megumi. He is really going through it right now. Also poor Gojo, it's clear that Sukuna's words affected him.
I'll write more, but I really need to go to sleep. Happy 2 years of writing TPG! 🎊 This fic is honestly one of the best I have ever read!💖
ooh i'm so happy you liked the chapter!! both scenes were really fun to write.
omg you're so right, kenjaku really is a sore loser. deserved. i fucking snorted at "his plans got foiled by the wettest saddest guy in history." so true, getou really fucked everything up for him through depression and character development. GOOD FOR HIM. "same flop era with the same flop goals" i dfghjkl. as for your theory on yuki vs choso...hm...interesting...
you described pfpk SO well, "two stray cats that should only be adopted together." real and accurate. they're so attached, they're like cats who constantly fight but meow like crazy if they're separated (my sister's cat is visiting for the summer, and that's how he is with my cat....) rip the pedestrian, and anyone who saw a car driving itself
i love mahito too! i wanted to give him interesting motives for going along with kjk's plans, since we never really found out in canon. i don't think he bought into the whole curses replacing humans thing, so why did he stay? i think him wanting to watch and study humanity as kenjaku tries to dismantle it fits with his personality.
their emotional convo was fun to write, especially their allusions to sukuna. that's exactly what i'm going for: all the puzzle pieces for sukuna's backstory are there, but missing a few key pieces for it all to make sense. slowly, we'll put things together, but not before making things way more confusing first
SUKUNAAAA MY OVERSHARING BELOVED we stan one zero social skills king. he's so vague but so expressive, and it's so funny and paradoxical of him. he never shuts up, but what he says never has substance.
"Gojo really did not sign up for getting emotionally damaged by some theatre kid with 1000+ years worth of trauma" PLEASE YOU'RE REALLY POPPING OFF WITH THIS MESSAGE gojo did get hit hard by sukuna's scarily accurate depictions of what it's like to be The Strongest. gojo is unsettled by sukuna, but the opposite is also true, which will only worsen as sukuna and gojo learn more about each other.
yeahhh tsumiki!! she deserves a character arc of her own, dammit. i'm so excited to write it! her argument with megumi was so gutting, but she needed to get her feelings out in the open so they can both begin to process and heal. but uh, not before some trauma first.
thank you so much for your kind words and for all your support!!! <333
