Hey by the way if anyone tries to deny Kabru is a judgy bitch I’ll send you the panels of him calling everyone worthless
Respect his duality he’s a good boy who genuinely wants the best for everyone but also thinks he has to do everything himself despite being the Least Qualified Ever because no one else lives up to his standards
He doesn’t even want to look at monsters but oh well every single other person is a piece of shit let’s go get my friends killed over and over again
He’s interesting BECAUSE he’s not one dimensional Good Pure Boy all the time, he’s a judgy manipulative little shit who will eat monsters if it gets him towards his goals, which are “nobody should be killed by monsters actually” and “i want to know what the fuck is going on”
He coulda had ONE honest conversation with Laios and known literally everything about him, Laios has never met a filter
But Kabru was raised for a good chunk of his life (6-18) by Milsiril, and for all he believes elves can never understand short lived people… he picked up the whole “I must be secretive and always conceal my own motivations”
He only breaks under literally the most intense high pressure situation he’s likely to see in his life, which along with being the potential goddamn apocalypse is also a rehashing of All Of His Personal Trauma oh and also Every Suspicion He Ever Had About This One Guy
He’s not more honest because he’s an honest person, he’s more honest because he forgot how sentences work when he finally caught Laios and doesn’t have the bandwidth to play the constant 4D chess in his head that underpins his EVERY INTERACTION WITH EVERYONE EVER until Marcille takes the lion
Kabru’s a pretty good person, with extremely good motivations and goals.
He’s a manipulative son of a bitch who will do anything, anywhere, anytime, to meet those goals, and spends a solid chunk of his time and energy on reading people so he can be someone they like… regardless of his own feelings.
He’s the living The Good Of The Many Outweigh The Needs Of The Few, and solidly puts himself in with “the few” by doing shit he hates because he thinks it’ll help.
Isn’t that more interesting than “oh he would never manipulate anyone, he’s so nice and good all the time”?

Since the ep is INSPIRED by POTO, I’mma point out the similarities and differences
Similarities/references to POTO:
-There are obvious parodies of the characters in the book/musical. Neema’s obviously the Phantom, Paka kinda has Christine’s role, Nne and Tano are kinda like Madame Giry, and there’s an herbivore with Carlotta’s role. Maybe a wild ass
-Neema pulls very similar stunts Erik pulls, mainly sabotaging performances. But he also has a secret lair in a water cave that he takes Kiburi’s float and Paka
-The Grasslands has a tradition called the “kupiga mpira”, meaning “masquerade ball” where everyone dresses up in costumes. Neema crashes the party lol
-Like Christine, Paka is a (rookie) performer and has a relationship with the Phantom
-I guess you could say both Erik and Neema had a hard life (granted, Neema’s past wasn’t as bad as Erik’s but still) that somehow affected their reputation
-He put Paka to sleep with a soothing melody (AKA he recreates “Music of the Night”)
-“[Why would anyone want to date a strange individual who’s killed people? That just sounds like a toxic relationship.]”-Neema at one point
-The reptiles like to refer to Neema as an “angel of music”
-Tamka brings up “the point of no return”
-Like Erik, Neema kills someone
-One of the reasons he sabotages a show is that a certain spot isn’t left for him. It’s HIS spot, no one else’s
-Neema and Erik both get exposed
-Both phantoms get affection at the end
-Neema’s point of no return is to either quit this double life thing and go back to being in Kiburi’s float or stick to being a phantom and leave his only family permanently. Although Tamka/Nduli think Neema’s gonna give THEM a choice to either join him or he’ll kill everybody, to which Kiburi shuts it down cuz that makes zero sense
Differences:
-There is no operatic singing in the episode. It has singing (the Grasslands are a musical place) but not actual opera. Also there’s no Raoul nor Persian
-While Erik loves/is obsessed with Christine, Neema is aromantic and has no interest in anyone
-Neema does not wear a mask that covers his face (except during the masquerade scene)
-Like I said before, everything between them is platonic and healthy. Though Neema DOES have a soft spot for her. If anything, they’d be QPP’s
-Erik and Neema haunt their respective places for different reasons. Erik does it cuz of his passion for opera and obsession for Christine. Neema honestly just likes the music. The hero thing just comes with it.
-Two things: it was completely platonic and Neema hummed the song since he’s mute and can’t sing. It’s more of a lullaby than a romantic ballad
-Neema isn’t jealous nor possessive. The most he does when he sees Paka with someone else is make sure they don’t hurt her. He’s more protective if anything
-my guy is not a teacher. He’s never taught anyone anything (except maybe how to stand up for yourself)
-As much as I love the scene, it ain’t happening with Neema and Paka. Way too sexual for them (and the episode fic) 😭
-Unlike Erik he killed someone cuz he was hungry, not to sabotage the show. Though everybody else seems to think differently
-He doesn’t kill anyone cuz of it, although he does cause a monkey to interrupt it by scaring him
-While Erik’s face gets exposed during an opera in front of everyone, Neema’s confronted by Kiburi’s float and basically gets exposed then
-Erik gets a kiss while Neema and Paka share a hug and a head pat :)
-Neema’s ending is veeeeeeery different from Erik’s. Neema doesn’t die like in the book nor does he completely quit being a phantom and not see Paka again. He goes back with his float in the end, but he continues to be a Phantom hero in the Grasslands.
There’s a reason Neema kept up the whole “Phantom” act and it kinda has something to do with his past. Neema was raised by strict, but somewhat supportive parents as a hatchling. He never learned to actually talk but his parents convinced him that being quiet was a good thing. “Silence is golden” they’d always say. “Just do as you’re told and they’ll like you”. It was like that for a while until the day he saved that lizard. Being referred to as a “hero” awakened something in him that day. He likes being some mysterious heroic entity, he likes playing with the Grasslanders and telling them what to do, he likes keeping animals on their toes, he likes the music the Grasslands have.
He likes being his own animal.
He’s been following and obeying his leaders all his life. Don’t get him wrong, he doesn’t necessarily mind it and he loves his friends, but it just feels nice to be someone now that he’s found his passion.
Nne and Tano found out when they got hungry and wanted to try something different rather than a mole rat or trying to eat animals from the Pridelands. They soon found themselves in the Grasslands and just so happened to spot Paka walking around. Just as they cornered her, Neema came out of nowhere, gave Paka a chance to run away, and began to attack the pair…until they recognized him like “Hey wait a minute…we know you! You’re one of the crocodiles in Kiburi’s float! What’re you doing here?”. It took a bit, but the pair finally figured out that Neema was a phantom and decide to join him. They never let anyone know since (until Kiburi basically forced them to tell where Neema was going).
Ever since Paka heard about this supposed phantom saving one of her lizard friends, her sleep schedule has been out of whack (seeing how black-footed cats are nocturnal) and she’s been obsessed with seeing it for herself. It only grew when Neema saved her and she went from wanting to see him to wanting to get to know him. Luckily, Neema took interest in the little feline due to her personality and shared love for music and began watching over her. He’s even led her to his water cave (where he hummed her his lullaby) and their friendship grew from there. She doesn’t really understand him so they communicate by yes or no questions until Kiburi comes along. Same with Nne and Tano.
Unrelated, but I just realized a pattern with my headcanons for Kiburi’s float: I gave them all desires
Kiburi wants to be good enough to make his dad proud like he promised
Tamka wants to be seen as more than just one thing (which is an idiot). He wants to pursue his passion and show he’s capable of doing things
Neema wants to feel like somebody. Like I said, he’s been a follower for way too long and he wants to find himself
Nduli wants everything to stay the same. He’s lost so much due to change and he doesn’t want to lose anything or anybody else, so he clings to his loved ones in hopes they won’t let go
Wakali wants to be taken seriously since her young age and albinism causes other animals to underestimate her
Even Makuu wants to show everyone that he’s changed his ways and wants to leave a legacy. It was the same thing with Pua, although nowadays he just wants to live his best life
Ucheshi got what she wanted in that Udugu episode I have-she got her big brother back :)

Elise forced Mori into a dress
And everyone sees it
Also— I love FukuMori
❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀
❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀
“Get out here.” Elise yelled behind the closed door. “Must I…?” Mori asked, hesitantly. “Mori, it can’t be that bad.” Kouyou said. “Uh, what’s happening?” They hear Chuuya ask from behind them. Elise and Kouyou turn to see Chuuya, Hirotsu, Tachihara, Akutagawa, Gin, Higuchi, Dazai, Yosano, Fukuzawa, Atsushi, Kunikida, Ranpo and Tanizaki. “Elise made Mori put on an outfit and he won’t show us.” Kouyou explained. “I don’t know what it is but he won’t come out of his room.” The ADA and Port Mafia had another meeting for another joint mission. Everyone was too bored to leave the Port so they’ve been hanging out together.
“Elise, what did you make Mori wear?” Dazai asked. She giggled mischievously. “I found something in his closet that’ll be hilarious once i get him to come out.” She said. “Should we be worried?” Hirotsu asked with an unamused look. “Nope!” Chuuya sighed. “Why must you always torture him.” Tachihara said. “It’s fun! Now, GET YOUR ASS OUT HERE!!” She yelled. “Why are you making me do this…?” Mori asked in a sulky tone. “Come on out Mori, it can’t be that bad.” Yosano said with a curious smile. “I beg to differ?!” He yelled. “I’ll rip the door handle off” Dazai said. “What?! No?!” “Then come on out!” Elise yelled, her patience running out. “Fine…” He hesitated before unlocking the door.
They heard the door click open, and watched as Mori came of the his room. He had on a Purple and. Pink—ish orange—ish dress. “Oh my god…” Kouyou said. “Holy shit…” Yosano and Dazai said. “What?!” Tachihara screamed. “You just have a dress lying around in your closet?” Higuchi exclaimed. Dazai and Yosano are in the background laughing their asses off. Chuuya, Higuchi, Gin, and Tanizaki are trying not to laugh. Elise is smiling mischievously, Kouyou, Hirotsu and Ranpo are just standing there. Akutagawa and Atsushi just keep looking at each other, very confused. Kunikida just looks done.
And Fukuzawa…Fukuzawa is just staring at him, head tilted with admiration and a look of surprise. “I was right, it’s not that bad.” Kouyou said. Mori just rolled his eyes, slightly picked up the dress to walk out to them, looking at Fukuzawa who had a smirk on his face. "Don't," he warned, his voice low and intense. Fukuzawa's smirk only widened as he watched Mori, clearly unfazed by the warning. He snorted as Mori’s eye twitch. “You actually kept it?!” Fukuzawa finally spoke. “Shut up.” Mori muttered.
"Wait, what?" Dazai asked. "What does that mean?" Chuuya wanted to know. “You knew he had a dress?” Higuchi asked, Fukuzawa snorted, “Yes I did.” Mori glared at him. “Anyone want to hear a story?” Fukuzawa asked with a fake innocent smile. “No, absolutely not.” Mori interrupted. “I wanna hear a story.” Dazai said with a smirk. “Me too!” Yosano agreed with the same smirk. “Please no, they seriously don’t need to know.” Mori childishly pouted. Fukuzawa just laughed. “Too bad so sad.” He smiled. “Fuck you…” Mori crossed his arms and pouted.
“Welp! When me and Mori were partners, we had a mission.” Fukuzawa started to explain. “Wait— you and Mori were partners?!” Dazai asked. “Yes, anyway, we had a mission that involved disguises.” Fukuzawa continued. “Where did you go?” Chuuya asked. “Well, this rich couple had stolen something from the previous Mafia Boss and we were assigned to retrieve it. The reason we had to dress in disguise was because they held a Ball.” Mori said. “But the thing is, it was a husband and wife only event.” Fukuzawa added, smirking. Yosano laughed, Mori’s face going red. “So, we ended up making Mori dress up as a girl and pretend to be my wife!” Fukuzawa said, Everyone burst into laughter. “We bought real ring too.” Fukuzawa added. “That’s what that ring is?!” Tachihara yelled. “What?” Fukuzawa tilted his head. “Nothing!” Mori yelled. “I always wondered what that ring on your finger was for, I just never asked.” Chuuya said. “Mori, You kept the ring?” Fukuzawa asked, shocked. “You kept it too, Fukuzawa.” Ranpo said.
“Hm…anyway, that’s it. We had to go as husband and wife for a mission to get something back. I didn’t think you’d keep the dress though.” Fukuzawa said. “I just threw it in there and didn’t think about it.” Mori said. “Welp! What did we learn today?” Dazai sarcastically asked. “Mori has worn a dress. Mori kept the dress. Fukuzawa and Mori have fake wedding rings. Mori and Fukuzawa, you two have some unresolved feelings.” Yosano said. “HELP— you did not!” Tachihara laughed. “This escalated quickly.” Atsushi who was very unamused, mumbled to Akutagawa.
“Alright, I’m taking this dress off now.” Mori said, walking away. “Absolutely not!” Elise yelled. “I agree, don’t let him change.” Yosano said. “I also agree, don’t let him change, he looks so soft in that dress.” Dazai laughed. “You guys are terrible.” Mori pouted. Fukuzawa suddenly took Mori’s wrist and dragged him away. “Where are you two going?” Kouyou asked. Fukuzawa didn’t say anything. The group watched as Fukuzawa lead Mori somewhere. “What are you doing?” Mori asked. Everyone had a puzzled expression when the two finally disappeared around the corner.
“The fuck was that about?” Tachihara asked, looking the direction the two went. “It’s Mori and Fukuzawa, we’ll never understand what they do.” Hirotsu said with a sigh. “I hope they kiss.” Elise said. “What!?” Chuuya said with confusion. “Rintaro doesn’t stop talking about him, He’s so in love.” Elise said. “Same with Fukuzawa.” Ranpo interrupted. “He somehow manages to bring Mori up in any conversation.” Ranpo said, rolling his eyes. “They are so obvious, it’s actually irritating.” Kouyou said. “You’re not any different Ranpo.” Yosano said with a grin. “Ranpo, You’re so oblivious to when someone is in love with you.” “Someone’s in love with me?!” Ranpo asked with confusion. “Wait, I thought you were dating the guy with the raccoon?” Chuuya said. “You think I’m dating Poe?!” Ranpo yelled. “Ranpo, I’m gonna be honest, it’s obvious he’s in love with you, and I know you’re in love with him too.” Yosano said. “Congratulations Ranpo, you’re the last one to know Poe’s in love with you!” Dazai said while clapping his hands. “WHAT?!?” “So…did everyone forget about Fukuzawa and Mori?” Tanizaki interrupted, having an unamused expression. “Oh yeah!” Elise yelled.
❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀
Fukuzawa had grabbed Mori’s wrist and dragged him away from the rest of the group. “Where are you taking me, Fukuzawa?” Mori asked, he stumbled a bit because of the dress. “Mori, We need to talk about it.” Fukuzawa said. Mori sighed, knowing where this conversation will go. They’ve stalled talking about their feelings for too long, they need to talk about now. Finally, they reach on of the offices. Fukuzawa let’s go of Mori’s writing and locks the door. They both sit on the desk, not saying a word.
“So, what now, What are we supposed to say to each other?” Mori mumbled. Fukuzawa sighed. “Well, I think we should talk about what we used to be.” Mori looked confused. “What do you mean?” Fukuzawa turned to look at him. “Things aren’t how they used to be, we aren’t as close, As much as I’d love it too, our relationship can’t be what it used to be.” Fukuzawa said. Mori sighed. “I’ve never stopped loving you, you know…” Fukuzawa smiled at Mori. “I know, Mori, and the same goes for me.” They sat there in comfortable silence for a moment before it was broken. “I know things can’t go back to the way they were before but…” Mori paused. “Mori, Would you be willing to give us another shot?” Fukuzawa asked, smiling at him softly.
Mori buried his face on Fukuzawa’s arm. “You’re so cheesy.” Fukuzawa just laughed. “Can I take that as a yes? We can try again?” Mori lifted his head up to look Fukuzawa in the eyes. “Just kiss me already.” Without hesitation, Fukuzawa pulled Mori closer to him and gently connected their lips, Mori wrapped his arms around the other’s neck. The kiss deepened as they both lost themselves in the moment, the world around them fading away. Fukuzawa's heart raced as he felt Mori's soft lips against his own, a warmth spreading through his body. Mori's touch was intoxicating, sending shivers down Fukuzawa's spine.
They stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, their embrace filled with passion and longing. Breaking the kiss, Mori buried his face into Fukuzawa’s neck, hiding his red face. “What are you doing?” Fukuzawa laughed. “Hush…I’m tired.” He mumbled. “Same old Mori, still hiding your face when you’re flustered.” Fukuzawa chuckled. “Shut up…” Fukuzawa thought for a moment, then a sly smile spread across his face. “Want help taking that dress off later, Mori?” His face flushed red, Fukuzawa laughing. “Wha— no, shut up.” Fukuzawa chuckled as he lifted Mori’s head to face him. “Mori, I’m just kidding…kind of.” Mori’s fave went red again. “Damn pervert…” Mori mumbled, Fukuzawa just kisses him in response. He quickly kisses back. “Was that really necessary?” Mori asked. “No, but you looked too cute to resist.” Fukuzawa said. “The offers still up, I can take the dress off you if you want, Mori” Fukuzawa smirked. “You think they walked away from my room by now?” Mori asked. “Probably.” Fukuzawa said. Mori got off the table and unlocked the office door.
They both head back to Mori’s room, luckily finding no one there. Fukuzawa and Mori walk in, Mori lays on his bed as Fukuzawa locks the door. “Mori, You ok?” Fukuzawa asks with a smile. “Hm…” He hesitates for a moment before extending his arms out, inviting Fukuzawa to come and lie down beside him. He gives in and sits next to him. “Seriously Mori, do you want to take that dress off? I can’t imagine that it’s comfortable.” Fukuzawa asked. “Yeah, you’re right, the dress is a bit itchy.”
He stands up to take the ribbon of the dress(what’s holding it up)off, but is struggling. “Mori, you want help taking that dress off” Fukuzawa asked with a smirk. “Alright, fine” Mori let him take the dress off him.
Fukuzawa stood up off the bed, walked behind Mori then slowly untying the dress off him. The dress loosened up slightly slipping off his shoulders. Mori let out a breath as Fukuzawa gently traced his fingers along his back, skimming under the fabric of his dress. He closed his eyes as his whole body shivered, giving into the wonderful sensation of Fukuzawa’s touch. “Hm…” he let out a soft hum in comfort. Mori let out a slight gasp when he felt Fukuzawa’s lips run across the bad of his neck. He slowly moved his way down Mori’s shoulder, letting the dress slip off a little more. Fukuzawa put his hands on Mori’s hips, bring him closer so his back was against his chest. Mori slowly tilted his head to the side, letting Fukuzawa leave gentle kisses against his jaw. Mori finally let the dress slip all the way off, Fukuzawa turning him around and pressed their lips together.

“So…what do you think happened?” Tachihara asked, after they had moved back to the meeting room, having nothing to do given Mori and Fukuzawa had walked away from them. “Who the hell knows. Their relationship confuses me.” Kouyou said. “They are doing…adult activities, if you know what I mean.” Ranpo said. “I didn’t need to hear that.” Dazai said, faking a gag. “Can we just not think about their sex life…” Higuchi muttered. “I agree with that statement.” Kajii said. “Yeah, I don’t want to know about Mori’s sex life, especially if it’s with Fukuzawa.” Dazai said.
