Weather
Foggy and overcast, with the heavy scent of rain lingering in the air, though it has yet to fall. You're not sure if it will until the sun is down.
Colors
Earthy browns and dark, vibrant reds, moss and sage green and hues that are shadows of what they should be.
Sky
Winter skies with silver clouds, the sun rising bright and strong, gold and sulphuric and just strong enough to feel like warm fingers on skin.
Magical Power
Telepathy!
Plant
Purple Dead Nettle, or some sort of Fern of Pine Tree? Maybe a wildflower
Weapon
Her mind, her surroundings, her tongue. You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar...

Social Media
Has stolen Danny/Ricardo's phone to scroll for cute dog pics and find godawful memes she can superimpose Spoon on to send them to Chen
Makeup Product(s)
Nail Polish is the only one that's always felt comfortable. Sometimes a bit of eyeliner, concealer, and eye shadow is ok too, but reserved almost exclusively for special occasions.
Candy
Gummies! Sour Haribo Coca-Cola gummies and peach gummy rings or strawberry marshmallow gummies! She also loves any kind of sweet involving bits or chunks of real fruit.
Fear
Being seen and deemed unworthy, being used and tossed aside when her purpose has run its course, when her value no longer holds the same thrill. A dog returned to the shelter, an old photo tossed in the garbage.
Ice Cube Shape
Smooth cubes, just a few, not too small and not too large
Method of Long-Distance Travel
The bus, when her shields are strong. A brainwashed cab driver, for a hurry. When her shields are fraying and she's overstimulated, walking downtown is the only safe way to go.
Art Style
Baroque, Expressionism, Symbolism, maybe?
Mythological Creature
The Beast of Gévaudan strikes me first.
Piece of Stationary
A swivel chair, old and used, one a sane person would have gotten rid of a long time ago. But the cushion is stitched and the joints are oiled, the surface is clean and duct tape holds together what once-sturdy engineering cannot. It is old, and it is loved. Not in danger of being retired any time soon.

And final critter update, Charis, the crabs, and snail.
Charis - still the best ball python ever. Her viv has been getting a bit bad with mold and mushrooms. There's springtails in there, in theory, but not taken off yet. And the isopods I first put in were giant canyon ones which breed slowly. So I ordered some dwarf white and powder orange isopods to add as well, and a few plants to try.
I put the two more fragile plants inside cork rounds to try and protect them a bit. Hopefully the little baby plants will be able to survive despite me and Charis. They're very cute and I already like them. I just suck at remembering plant care, sigh. I did remove her humid moss hide while rearranging things for the plants, so we'll see if I regret that. She really likes it and hasn't had any shed issues in a very long time, which I'm sure it's helped with. So it may go back in by winter if needed. But for now this is her set up! Included closer pics of two of the plants too. I'm excited about the driftwood being added bc it sits horizontally for lounging on!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The new crabs that I rescued a couple weeks ago are driving me nuts bc they won't really eat much yet. The smallest one that molted has been most active, the other two just want to hide still. But the rest of my colony are doing great, being quite active lately & eating a ton. Their saltwater pool filter is also driving me nuts, I need to just replace it, I think. It keeps not working after a day or so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel bad about the snail, I need to feed the poor thing more regularly. Despite my inattention, he seems to be doing decent anyway. I want/wanted to get some blue freshwater shrimp to put in with him, but I don't know yet. It's probably not a good idea while I'm likely to get overwhelmed by life again yet this year and such. At the very least, I'll wait until we're more into winter, the rescue crabs are integrated, and some more house projects are done.

Quick knitting update since it's been awhile. I wanna share something I'm pretty proud of so far!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
A blanket! Specifically a lap afghan I've been working on this since around the 2nd week of November! This is a Christmas gift for a friend, and I've still got a ways to go, but I'm doing this all from one cake/skien of yarn to make my life easier. @_@ and to not have to worry about attaching new balls after finishing one. Plus, the colors keep going! :D
Tbf the pattern I'm referencing ( moss landing pattern by studio knit) called for bulky yarn with size 10 circular needles and I'm using super bulky with size 11, but it'll be alright. The yarn I'm using is from the current Caron Anniversary line, called Koi Pond. The 2nd pic is how much yarn I have left and I may not even use it all. (The cake itself was HUGE, a little over 2lbs of yarn!)
Oh that is gorgeous!! Such a nice pattern and a beautiful color mix on that yarn!

Cabin Trip Report, part deux
A few "action" photos and some history.
My first day--and only non-rainy day--at the park, I took a hike along the poignantly-named Trail of New Giants. Here's a pic from the trail:
Tumblr media
Here's another one:
Tumblr media
While a very pleasant patch of forest, you may notice that none of the trees present are what the normal person of average sensibilities would call a giant.
Unless, maybe, you look at the ground.
That's because, on the evening of May 31, 1985, a massive tornado swept through the area, leaving a path of destruction almost 70 miles long and 2/3 of a mile wide. The park's prized stand of sugar maples, along with other venerable trees--the Old Giants--was completely razed. Here's how it looked right after:
Tumblr media
(Photo from the park's Facebook page)
Here's another one:
Tumblr media
We get tornadoes in Pennsylvania, but not often and usually pretty small ones. The Moshannon Forest Tornado, as the one that swept through the park is known, was part of a storm system that produced one of the largest recorded outbreaks of tornadoes in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
This picture looks like a closeup of a lawn that has just been mowed, but those are full-sized trees:
Tumblr media
There were 43 separate tornadoes, plus severe thunderstorms and damaging winds in the areas the tornadoes missed. 89 people lost their lives in the outbreak--but 0 of them were in the Moshanon Forest Tornado, despite the fact that it was the largest single tornado by a considerable margin.
There are two reasons why this storm didn't have a death toll. One is that its path covered mostly uninhabited land--the park, and other public land designated as state forest or state gamelands. In the park, it missed the family campground and the cabin area.
The other reason is this unusual, octagon-shaped, CCC-built structure:
Tumblr media
(Recent photo from the park's reservation site.)
Used as an administration building during CCC days, it was an environmental education classroom (AKA nature center) at the time of the tornado. While the storm didn't hit the family campground, it did hit a camping area set aside for youth groups--which on that night, was being used by a Boy Scout group.
Here's a photo of the aftermath, taken by one of the Scouts:
Tumblr media
They took shelter in the octagonal cabin, and all survived, though the building was badly damaged:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The boy who took these photos, Ken Hunt, described being nearly sucked out as part of the roof was carried away; the Scout leader and other kids clung to the doorframe with one hand and managed to hang on to Ken with the other.
Anyway, the kids all lived, and they fixed the cabin up again; you can rent it to stay in if you want. It looks pretty awesome though:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Top photo from the park's Facebook, second from TripAdvisor, uploaded by a family that stayed there over Christmas.)
I stayed at one of the other cabins, because they charge by the number of beds and this one has 12, but it does allow dogs! Plus, if you stay there, you know that if there's another once-in-a-century tornado, you'll probably make it.
Anyhow, the devastated area continues to recover. Here's a shot from the overlook last Thursday--if you're comparing it with the tornado-damage photos, we're standing on top of the hill that's in the background of most of them:
Tumblr media
With its relatively light tree cover--and lack of old, slow-growing evergreens--the tornado area is a good habit for spring wildflowers, like this trillium:
Tumblr media
The trunks of the fallen Giants provide habitat for mosses and fungi, and their root balls create small hillocks with good drainage; this one was covered in white violets:
Tumblr media
(Photo didn't come out great, but you can spot them if you look hard.)
As for the New Giants? The park's interpretive display on the storm says we can expect them to be truly giant by around 2085.

~ SnowAfterFyre . redbubble . com ~
Got around to making a redbubble account! I’ve started by uploading some shrimpies! I’m super super super excited to share them, I think the shrimps are really cute.
You can get them individually or in sticker packs (the first two pics- they come with driftwood, a marimo moss ball, and bubbles so you can arrange them as you’d like!) If there’s any other shrimp you want to see let me know! I’m also working on a tiling design with a bunch of aquatic plants that have shrimps on them. Follow my shop to see it when it’s complete!
In the top picture are caridina shrimp- blue bolt, golden bee, crystal red, and crystal black.
In the middle picture are neocaridina shrimp- cherry red, blue dream, jade green, and yellow.
In the bottom picture (from top to bottom then left to right)- trans, genderfluid, genderqueer, nonbinary, aromantic, asexual, gay rainbow, pansexual, lesbian (orange and pink), and bisexual.

day 3: trying to unlock the great faires. OUGH such a chore. I think I know why with this game im getting a little annoyed (I still like it dw!) but it seems that with every new... thing? you have to go through at least 3 other things to GET IT. like... Ok. I want the great fairy. No? i need a drum. where is the drum. I cannot hear a drum. Ok... I found the drummer (two days later IRL) and oh... he needs honey! so I go to kakariko and get it. Okay. here's ur honey. play for the fairy? NO! he's going to fucking ELDIN. Bitch ! ! ! I don't want to go to Eldin yet I just want to upgrade my armor so I don't die all the damn time to monsters ! ! ! also dislike how they removed some iconic stuff like the Shrine of Resurrection and the Sheikah ball thing in Kakariko. I'm not saying don't change it, I'm saying how the fuck did that stuff decay/get removed. I wanted so bad to take a pic with me in front of the shrine of resurrection, now old and covered in moss. but it's completely gone? idk it makes me sad I wanted to see it again.
in other news tho i am having fun taking pics with my camera :)
