summary: After months of floating in the vastness of space, the android known as Tango makes his reappearance, all systems dark and body frozen in time. As the crew of the Prometheus' engineering team try to get him back online, Fleet Admiral Xisuma deals with the consequences of losing, and finding, a friend back from the dead. A friend who sacrificed himself to save his captain. To save him.
snippet:
Finally, Xisuma steps back. His hands ache. It's been ages since the fine motor skills of such detailed work have been put to use. Beside him, Doc stands, still orbiting, still lingering in his perifere, hand now balanced, hovering, right at his elbow. He hasn't made a sound since X began working. An eerie quiet, not silence, never silence, not with the slow breath from the two of them, half-held, or the whir of machines, or the flow of air, settles around them. Tango's eyes haven't opened yet. Xisuma holds his breath behind his teeth at the same time Doc breathes out. His hand, cool metal, clasps around his elbow.
"Xisuma," he says, a mouthful of soft-S sounds. Xisuma's eyes don't leave Tango's face, soft and still. He sighs out, swallowing back the heart in his throat.
"We just have to wait," Xisuma says. Doc squeezes. He knows that's his confirmation.
