Something I’ve been thinking about lately is that small moment in “Air Turtle” where immediately after the Daves lose yet another game, Leo says how sorry he is and how he’s doing his best as the mascot. This moment is so short but it’s honestly jam-packed with a whole heap of characterization.
His need to apologize for things clearly not his fault - especially when it feels like he messes up the job he was given despite doing the best he can (the phrase “it’s not about you” takes a new meaning when this is one of the lessons to be learned from that - that he is not always solely responsible for things going wrong), his need to save face and make a connection with an older adult man in his life (something he consistently does throughout the series - he’s got a few daddy issues, always collecting potential father figures, it’s no wonder he jumps at the bit to keep rapport), and the way he sounds and looks and the words he chooses really pushes how he is just a kid (“Mr. the Dunk, I’m so sorry”).
Like I know it’s a one off moment that doesn’t truly mean much, but when put against the rest of the series it works really well with the rest of Leo’s established character and helps in solidifying later concepts as well.

The thing so funny with the Discowing suit is that I know for sure that Bruce's first reaction to it was probably a seizure and banning Dick from wearing... whatever that 70's rock band frontman costume that thing was. But what could he expect from a former circus performer who spent his childhood fighting crime in green, red and yellow and is now a teenager in his rebellious era? He surely couldn't hope for a total black, total gloomy, total body-covering suit like his as soon as Dick grew past his Robin costume and took his own identity, right?
Discowing wasn't even that bad. It could be much, MUCH worse!
(Well, except for the V neck. That was probably a bit overdone. Still... Fucking iconic.)

I think stanning them is the single most boring thing you can do to a character.
Like, I love Iruka. Iruka's my blorbo from my manga since my teens. He's a caring adult who used to be a conflicted kid hiding his sorrow with laughter, what's there not to like? Him speaking his mind about the chuunin exam spoke to me for extremely relatable reasons. He's my projection character.
And you know what? There's nothing more interesting to me than exploring his faults. Please let's discuss his lack of self-control, getting so riled up during the chuunin exam nominations. Let's talk about his failures with regards to Sasuke, who had good grades and didn't act out so Iruka didn't pay him much mind even though Sasuke should have been flagged as a traumatized child. Iruka playing favorites. Iruka using his connections to keep playing favorites because he's worried... about his favorite. Iruka not fitting the shinobi mold. Iruka being lame. Iruka who spent years being a stern teacher to Naruto and apparently didn't think worth mentioning that he saw and appreciated Naruto's efforts until it was almost too late. Iruka failing.
Anyway, stanning is the single most boring and unproductive and dishonest thing you can do to a character

mask bracken yuri . just hear me out guys. writing beneath the cut😁
There is a story. You and I have walked it thousands of times. The motions are still familiar, the rot as sweet as it has always been. I am blind in the face of this.
Decay. Numbing hunger. You offer yourself so readily; of course I allow myself to indulge. Blood, slick against roots. Thick, shuddering breaths, taken from lungs that no longer inflate as they should. A heavy drag as you breathe, as if the blood bubbles up and growls. But you are limp in my arms, and you are happy.
I do not know this by the ‘smile’ upon your face. I know this in the limpness of your limbs. I know this in the loud, struggling breathing. I know this in the blood you spill upon me so readily. There is a story that we have created, together, and that we have told thousands of times.
I am holding you. You die. I am still holding you for as long as is necessary; hosting you upon my body, clutched in one hand, kept even inside of the gaps within my ‘flesh’, nestled safely inside of the roots. I am holding you even as I press you upon a new host. There is simply nothing else to do.
The story ends and begins with you being held. I wonder if a day will ever come wherein you are no longer held close to me and me alone.
I wonder.
A deep, wet sigh. By shifting, you smear a long line of searing blood against the roots of my ribs. It does not hurt. I have long grown used to it.
You are very warm. I did not know I could be warm, before I had met you. I’m glad.

i was just thinking this morning that it’s such a shame to live in a city & watch people let their fruiting trees and bushes just rot because they’re often there for aesthetic or inherited instead of intentional for harvest but when i got to work i checked on the apple tree overhanging the parking lot & they cut it down!!!! so obviously im not paying attention to fruiting trees either. who knows when that happened
