“I think everyone loves their girlfriends so much and will do anything for them,” Jungwon, the captain starts. He chuckles and roams his eyes around his team members trying to pick one from them. They’re too busy bickering with one another.

“I will pick Heeseung hyung.” he faces the camera and smirks. “Yeah, him. Why? Because almost abandon our game because she’s not watching.” he announces and scoffs.

“Pretty crazy.” he left a last remarks before calling the next member.

“If you can pick one other member—”

“I pick myself.” and he gave them an unamused look on his face.

“Park Sunghoon. Definitely him.” he scoffs and shakes his head like he can’t believe something.

“Because he don’t normally takes interest in girls since he’s very focus with games and studies. The fact that his girlfriend catches his attention says a lot. He’s practically heads over heels with her.”

“I-It’s for the school news paper! Your girlfriend, the vice president, wants us to interview the rugby team.” one even says.

They saw how his face evidently brightens at the mention of his girl. His face relaxes and his he glanced away, thinking for an answer.

“Me.” he shortly replied.

“W-Why?” they wanted to ask for him to pick another member, but afraid to spoil his mood.

“The fact that I’m sitting here answering these questions instead of something about the game just proves it. If it weren’t for my girlfriend, I won’t contribute here.”

“I think it will be Jake hyung.” he smiles and chuckles.

a/n: this is a repost of a drabble i wrote late at night after the scene just randomly popped into my head. it’s kinda cute but also very annoying. i love hot chocolate and snow so both of these make an appearance. anyways, i hope you enjoy ☃️🧋

You watch the snowflakes drift through the cool night air, painting the azure sky with streaks of white gold. Looking up it felt like the stars were slowly gliding down to earth, their descent holding you mesmerized before landing softly on the blanket of snow below.

The sound of snow breaking beneath someone’s feet pulls you out of your reverie and reminds you where you are. A lonely out-of-service bus stop in town, cars driving past you on their way home to someone else.

You slowly turn around, praying you were not about to be hit on by some creep.

“Tae,” you sigh in relief, beaming at him as he smiles back at you fondly.

Then your smile turns into a frown.

“Where’s your car?”

He stuffs in hands in his pockets and looks away, trying to mask his sheepish grin.

“In the shop.”

“Why didn’t you tell me? You didn’t have to come all the way down here, you silly goose. I could have ubered home.”

“Exactly why I didn’t tell you. I needed an excuse to leave my date early. Oh and if she asks, you were in a car accident, ok?”

“Your date— Wait, that was tonight? Fuck, I thought you two would hit it off. What happened?”

He shrugs his shoulders and looks away.

Then he turns back to you with a sparkle in his eyes.

“Do you want hot chocolate?”

He knew you could never say no to hot chocolate.

“Ok, but we’re not done talking about this.”

“Fine. Then come here and hold onto me, I’m freezing.”

You walk over to him as he juts out his elbow for you to put your arm through, snuggling up to him and feeling the chill melt away.

You look up into his eyes and he’s already grinning at you, his signature boxy grin coaxing a smile out of you as you let out an exasperated sigh.

You rest your head on his shoulder and you two start to walk towards the cafe only a block away in comfortable silence except for the sound of your boots sinking into the snow-covered sidewalk.

After a few minutes, you break the silence.

“Ok, tell me what happened.”

“She was boring.”

You lift your head to stare at him.

“Boring—? She’s a lingerie model. How is that boring?”

He just shrugs his shoulders as you both continue to walk.

“Meh. She had all her clothes on, I guess.”

“Wow ok, thanks for that image,” you grumble, shutting your eyes and shaking your head as Tae chuckles, pulling you closer to him to prevent you from tripping in the snow.

“But seriously, Tae. I can’t keep finding people for you. Mrs. Kim desperately wants grandkids - why deny her that?”

He sighs, deciding to ignore your question.

“You can stop looking for someone for me, Y/N.”

“Why? So you can let your poor mom continue to worry about you? We had a long conversation about it just last week and she’s right. You need to keep an open mind because the perfect person might be right in front of you.”

He smiles weakly to himself, realizing the message he thinks his mom was trying to relay.

“I will talk to her. I just… I don’t want you to look for anyone else, ok?”

You stare straight ahead, a little miffed by Taehyung’s request but you continue to hold his arm as you both walk through the snow.

“Fine. I will stop looking. But I really want you to find someone, Tae. An amazing person like you deserves someone to wake up next to, to feel safe with, to love. You have so much love to give, Tae.”

He sighs again, the sound of footsteps in the snow halting as he turns to face you. A moment of silence but it felt like much longer as you look up at him in confusion.

When he finally speaks, it comes out very quietly. Hesitantly.

“What about you?”

You raise your eyebrows, clearly not following him.

“What about me?”

“Don’t you deserve all those things too?”

“Me? Well, yeah, I guess so.”

“But you don’t have anyone?”

“I… I mean I had Seokjin. For a while. But yeah, you’re right, I don’t have anyone now. I guess I should look for someone for myself, huh?”

“Do you have to look for someone?”

You laugh.

“Well they’re not going to magically appear in front of me, are they?”

Tae was staring at you with a frown on his face, concentrating so hard like he was trying to telepathically communicate a message to you.

“And if they were?”

“If they were what?”

He sighs.

“If they were right in front of you, then what?”

You tilt your head to the side and look up at him, confusion stitching a crease between your brows.

“I’m not sure I understand, Tae.”

He bends down to look you straight in your eyes, seemingly searching for something. What he was searching for was a mystery to you.

After a few moments he looks away, letting out a short puff of air as he stomps off.

“Never mind.”

You stare at his back as he walks away angrily. You were completely befuddled by the entire interaction.

Shaking your head a little, you run after Taehyung as you yell out to him.

“Wait, Tae! We’re still getting hot chocolate, right?”

Hello Kim ! I love that you're a Sansa fan, I was wondering what your favourite Sansa quote is? And why do you think she is so hated compared to characters like Jon, Dany, Arya, etc ? Thank you xx

Thank you for asking about my favorite child! It's hard to narrow down a quote as my absolute favorite. I love it whenever she's sneaky about manipulating idiots like Joffrey without ever dropping her armor of courtesy. "He is a fool, you're so clever to see it! He'd make a much better fool than a knight" about Hollard, and "“They say my brother Robb always goes where the fighting is thickest. Though he's older than Your Grace, to be sure. A man grown” are perfect examples.

They're also examples of why so many fans dislike her. She's too subtle for them, and too nuanced (maybe the most nuanced character in the series?). The dislike started when she was framed in the very beginning as Arya's foil, when her motives were easy to read: marry the prince and live like in romantic stories of chivalry. Now we're all obviously supposed to be frustrated with her, as we would be if our little sister or daughter fell for such an obvious douchebag but had a head too full of fairy tales to listen to reason. That frustration doesn't mean we hate them; in fact, it's usually so frustrating because you love the little twits. Yet because Sansa was set up as a foil to Arya, the underdog tomboy to cheer for, most viewers projected those affectionate feelings onto her and Sansa was left as the antagonist.

In season 2, we get nonstop action, with Arya, Jon, and Dany slicing through folks and burning them....and Sansa just seems to sit there sad and mealy-mouthed in King's Landing? Weak!

So many fans were attracted to the pageantry and sensory overload Game of Thrones gave them, and to take the time to understand someone as quiet and diffident as Sansa appeared was just not going to happen.

Ultimately, Gillian Flynn said it best:  “I like strong women” is code for “I hate strong women.” People watched GoT and decided for a woman to be equal, she had to commit violence, just like how men assert their masculinity. This hurts both Sansa and Arya in the show, I think. Sansa, with her subtlety and traditionally feminine interests, combined with the self-centered streak she showed in season one because God Forbid a teenager be self-centered especially since Arya isn't, was deemed too weak and annoying. Arya is the badass little ninja, but in the books, her descent into her darkest impulses because of the hell she's been through is...Not Good. Not empowering. She's a child. Sansa is a child. But because the way Arya survives and loses much of herself is cool and masculine-coded in the show, it's okay to rally around her. With Sansa, it's weak.

Unfortunately, a lot of Sansa fans go too far in the other direction, which I think is important to note. I've said this in another post, I know, but I just gotta repeat a distinct memory from when the show was at its height. More people were getting into Sansa, and her popularity was rising. Someone dared post their artwork of Sansa in armor and holding a sword. The reaction was ridiculous. "You're missing the whole point of Sansa's character if you give her armor and a sword!" First of all, Sansa is the most adaptable character in the series. Much like Elizabeth I, she would absolutely do that to boost morale at the very least. Second of all, people love to put women in boxes; to quote Succession, a lot of fans can't "hold a whole woman in their head."

Sansa is a an example of "safe" femininity; she'll always be good and sweet and pure, a nice escape from mean women like Cersei, butch Brienne, tomboy Arya. Suddenly all the women just become these traits and aren't allowed to grow past them or learn to love other things. Maybe Sansa does learn to pick up a sword willingly, and finds out it's...kinda fun! Empowering, even!

No, there's nothing wrong with loving to sew, sing, and dream of romance. However, there is harm in internalizing that as the only things women can and should do. There's just something so infantalizing about the treatment of Sansa by some fans: "Our little Sansa always behaves like a lady".

I love Sansa because she isn't always likable. She has a lot of internalized misogyny, and she takes it out on Arya. She's so self-centered in her desires that she tells Cersei about Ned. She's also a child who we can safely assume was more strongly discouraged not to end up like Arya than, say, Arya was. This is her arc. I hate that it happens because of trauma, but her growth stems from Ned's death because it shows that deep down, this child wants home and family more than pagaentry. But because she couldn't say it with a sword, fans missed this.

Been watching a few video edits of BCS and they still hits hard :( But Police Call Guy as Jimmy & Assistant as Kim actually fits now that I think of it...

There are some RH characters in my mind that could also fit as BCS characters, however I might not draw them due to my interest and energy in drawing it, they can only rent free in my head.

Police Call Guy - Saul Goodman / Jimmy McGill Jimmy has an alias "The Cell-Phone Guy", kinda have a similar ring to Police Call Guy lmao. I also imagined Call Guy would appear to be genuine and charming around people, but he would do anything for him to win even if it would hurt people around him. Like annoy his co-workers to get fired, scam to gain money together with his friend, steal from his family, etc. In the end, Call Guy turned himself in and confessed his guilt, he was later sentenced to life in prison (86 years). Imagine a police that eventually spends his life on prison due to his action.

Assistant - Kimberly "Kim" Wexler Kim is the girlfriend-turned-wife-turned-ex-wife of Jimmy McGill. Kim loves Jimmy for his kindness towards her, and returns this compassion to Jimmy on multiple occasions. However Kim felt remorse to her actions with Jimmy along the series. I imagined Assistant solving cases with Call Guy, she started to get influenced by him and she had fun. She also defends him whenever he did some unlawful actions or even he got mistreated by her boss (the executives) and Tucker.

Cpt. Tucker - Charles "Chuck" McGill Both name's are kinda similar too ig- but I could give some reasons why I could fill in Tucker as Chuck. In BCS, Chuck is Jimmy's older brother. He claims to suffer from electromagnetic hypersensitivity (causes headache, fatigue, stress, sleep disturbance, pain in muscle etc), he can't go near to anything that is electrical (even batteries, phone, watch, light) without a cloak of aluminum foil around him. Chuck was a lawyer and the co founder of HHM, but due to him not being able to go near electrical stuff, he retired for a while until it gets better. Chuck eventually returns, but he retired for good due to Jimmy. Now, what if ... Tucker was once a cop but he also has electromagnetic hypersensitivity so he retired, which is why he lives in the snowy areas with his seals to get away from electricity. The only way for him to get light is fire, torch, and candle lanterns.

The Executive(s) - Howard Hamlin I'll only be using one Executive instead of whole 4 of them, Howard Hamlin was Kim's boss and he's the owner of HHM. Not sure how to connect stuff from the original BCS, but I see the Assistant being under Executive, just like Kim under Howard.

LONG STORY SHORT... Police Call Guy is a conman who will eventually be sentenced for life in jail. Tucker and Police Call Guy are strangely related (not sure about this), both hates each other. Police Call Guy and Assistant were together for a moment but they broke up due to Assistant's trauma, she eventually felt remorse of her actions which is her reason of her break up. Executive is Assistant's boss and he was the founder.

I watched Kim Possible as a kid and liked it back then. But as an adult, I dont really remember something too compeling about it. What do you think makes it special and worth peoples time besides nostalgia? Sorry if the ask sounds combatative, just intereted

i'm not sure i have too many memories of it as a kid. i know i was in it for nicole sullivan cuz i was a mira nova fan. and then...it stuck? nothing stood out to me as a kid too much, but then when season 4 came around (i was out of high school by then) i remember being excited. so something about it must have stuck with me as....just good fun, since i was so invested in the 4th season being a thing. then when the season actually aired, some episodes i found annoying and cheesy. not Graduation though, that was amazing. to be clear, i was only into kim/ron as a ship at the time and not much really.

so....as a teen, i have no idea really. can't put my finger on it other than it was good clean fun? as an adult... i binged the show and i started out loving kim/ron as a perfect friends to romance pairing. great healthy example of that. then i saw that drakgo was the popular ship and headed that route.

but in terms of depth to the show? you kind of have to create your own. i think it's why i find the show easy to write for because it's a very blank slate. you have good established canon with consistent continuity, plenty of tiny hints at deeper possibilities... but pretty much the lore is all up to the fans. very little actually onscreen, compared to other shows. so it's fun in that way.

as a show though it's just....good clean fun. a girl's version of the a-team perhaps? hits all the 00's teen marks. it's definitely not a show written for adults to enjoy, definitely written for older kids/teens. relatable to that age i guess, but specifically of that generation.

i suppose.... okay well, honestly. compelling factors?

shego is hot. a certain crowd are gonna go for that. kim too but she's a minor so i don't automatically think of that.

now ron... ron is a compelling character. he's the underdog who gets the girl in the end. i think many people would identify with ron? a lot of the stereotypes i think are contrived by fandom, but the show is easily interpreted that way... a dork, a loser, no-skills low-grades nobody, who gets the girl in the end. so that i can see as a compelling factor.

but overall i think it's just fun. like i said a few times before. good clean fun. i liken it to a show like Recess. fun characters, fun stories, but not much else to it besides good clean fun. although i'd argue Recess had more depth lol.

guess i'm saying it's not that compelling? haha. i think the superfans choose to like it, like me. for nostalgia mostly. and community.

August felt soo long. At first, it was great with my vacation and a successful convention and great books and then reality came crashing back in with developments at work that left me reeling for a bit. I'm bad with change. /D Anyway, on to the books! I had a lot of train time this month, so there's quite a few.

Slippery Creatures, Subtle Blood, The Sugared Game (The Will Darling Adventures 1-3) (KJ Charles): Ooh, these took me by surprise! I read two of the author's other books last month and needed something light and easy for my train trips. These were so much more delightful than I expected. I read all 3 of them within five days. Fun! Adventure! Intrigue! Characters I actually like! No really, I loved Will and his attitude. Sure, he has kind of a short temper and resorts to violence quickly, but … everyone deserved it! (And it's just a book.) This is my fantasy, you know. Actually spitting people in their face when they annoy me. Actually telling them off no matter the consequences. Hah. I guess, this is why I like this sort of character. (The Tarot Sequence's Brand and All for the Game's Andrew come to mind … Interestingly, just like Kim in here their partners are lying little shit's as well. And seen from that angle, Laurent and Damen of Captive Prince fit that category as well. I'm starting to see patterns in what I like to read. :'D) So anyway, I had a lot of fun reading this series! <3

Lose you to find me (Erik J. Brown): I have things to say. 8D First of all, yes, it's cute. It made me smile when my day was shit and while the characters had their annoying phases I'm glad it turned out how it did in the end. Before reading, though, I was so disappointed it was just a contempory romance. After All that's left in the world with it's postapocalyptic but not too outlandish setting I was hoping I'd get more of that "a little different". Yeah, didn't work out, but the pain eased a little because the book was nice actually and we reconciled for real with author's afterword. And to be fair, usually, I'm all in when authors do different things with each book instead of writing the same all over again, so I have to give him credit for this. But there's still one more thing I have to mention. Why is there no content warning for SEVERED BODY PARTS?! Like what the hell seriously. I'm not squeamish usually but one of my coworkers cut off a part of his finger permanently at the beginning of the year, so this was waaay too real to me. A warning would have been appreciated. /D

Prince in Disguise (Perilous Courts 2) (Tavia Lark): More stuff that's easy to read. I liked the first volume better because the stakes were higher but it was still pretty okay. I definitely like how close these volumes are in timeline and story while still being separate adventures. I wish Whisper's mission in this would have had a little more impact but well, it is what it is. (I think I just like Whisper more than Bell or Rakos 8D). Also new mascot animal. Cute! I wonder if there'll be one in volume 3 as well … 8D

Afterglow (Golden Boys 2) (Phil Stamper): After Lose you to find me I was in the mood for more contemporary YA and as it turns out the themes in this one are similar. High school graduation, college applications, self-discovery. It also felt very American to me. As a European reading books like this is always like a cultural study. :'D I think, what I liked most about Golden Boys was its quiet tone. It had its dramatic moments but, at least in my memory overall, it was more calm and understated and while I love my adventure stories reading something nice and calm was a good change of pace. And the sequel takes it even one step further. While there's anxiety towards the future it's never the kind of overwhelming where I have to squeeze my eyes shut and take a moment to calm my nerves before I can continue reading. 8D In terms of content this works because it's a sequel and we already know everyone and their previous struggles. I have a lot of respect for the writing process. Juggling four boys and the timeline? Ugh. And yeah, I liked the book and the paths the boys take. All these different perspectives on life. It's not just another "where's the next party" and "oh he doesn't like me what should i do" but focusses on the characters and their indivual worries and their friendship. It's nice and it's warm. :)

Sir Callie and the Champions of Helston (Esme Symes-Smith): Well … I wish I liked this better than I did. The story is fine, the characters are fine (in comparison to the next book below they a stellar), the themes are important and I can see what it wants to do and most of it it does pretty well, but … Yes, in order to overthrow a system you first need to establish it. But the first third of the book was hard to get through as the world Callie steps into is very rigid in its rules surrounding gender and stuff and it's making Callie hurt, angry and defensive and even though I knew it would eventually lead to a better place, it was making me angry as well and I get angry easily everytime I step outside, I don't really need that in my books. It gets better once the kids actually meet for real and spend more time with each other. But there's the other part that I didn't like: There's something jarring about the writing style. Like bumps on a smooth road - the more bumps we ride over the more annoying they get. It happened most noticably with distances and the passage of time. The hole that Callie's mother left in her heart took years to grow over, but never fully healed. But they've only been away from said mother for two years. When Callie confronts Peran, Papa draws them backwards, Neal steps between them, yet Peran's face is so close, they can see coloured specks in his irises. He's also way taller than them, so how does that work? At one point I wondered if the author might have less visual imagination power than I do because all the descriptions of distances around the castle, the town, the bridge and the forest just felt jumbled to me. (Or maybe I was just not reading well.) Last example: Callie and Edwyn circle around the dragon and attack their back with swords and it's said in a single simple sentence like it's nothing. But that dragon must be huge, because their face is as large as a human, and also it was flying a few minutes earlier and directly afterwards it's said how there's fire all around them. But yeah, apparently that swing was super easy to do, so one sentence is enough to say it happened. It just felt weird and it happened so often. And I feel bad for picking at a book for kids with a good cause but damn. All these things are so easy to make better and more coherent. :I

The Last Fallen Moon (Gifted Clans 2) (Graci Kim): Ugh, I don't know, this might be the first middle grade book I read where I'd say "I'm too old for this." Not really a fan of the humor and the attempted quirkiness, the pop culture references (and how it basically says that all (Korean?) celebrities are witches which I find actually offensive. Pretty sure none of the kids reading these books will have any magical abilities, so they won't ever make it to stardom or what no matter how hard they try? Hmm.) It was also hard to be patient when things are so obvious and still get treated like a big revelation pages after (The Stairbucks toilets?!) And the characters felt so bland to me. I couldn't tell you a single interesting thing about any of them. Things got better towards the end, when everything starts to fall into place instead of being a string of small tasks that can never be completed because there's suddenly some new issue. The two things I liked are that Riley gains a brother rather than a love interest (or a brother who is a love interest … 8D) and that her sister has an active part this time. Will I read the next installment? …. Probably not?

Waiting for Godot (Samuel Beckett): Oops, something totally different in here for once. I like theatre, but liking in this case means, that I know all plays by Eugene Ionesco and Oscar Wilde, topped with a singular Wedekind and this one. :'D I'm terribly picky and not actively seeking out new stuff. But the Theatre of the Absurd especially has a way with words and weird situations that I always found fascinating. I read Godot a long time ago and went to see it on stage a couple of years ago but when I thought of it recently I realised I didn't remember anything so I reread it and well … I understood why my memory failed. I don't know if I'd actually call the piece good. It's weird, it's weirdly sad and therefore it's weirdly endearing. But most of all it's a giant "what the fuck is going on". It made me think of all that "Is our life a simulation"-crap since Estragon seems to be the only one capable of remembering previous events. But I'm not going to try to think about what it all could mean as it will lead nowhere anyway. :'D

Dark Rise (C.S. Pacat): The sequel is coming in November so I thought it time to refresh my memory! I own the English edition but went and borrowed the German edition from the library for all the things I might have missed and because it's interesting to read the translation vs. the original. I remember having a blast reading this for the first time (I think this was the first time for me writing something book-related on my blog because it was just too wild to contain 8D). And now, knowing the twists and turns it was delicious to look for the foreshadowing (and the twists and turns were delicious as well like hnng!!). And now waiting for the next volume is even harder. Damn!

For September I have planned something nice! Please look forward to it!

I recommend rewatching his scenes to get a sense of his mannerisms and the way he speaks. Sometimes I'll put an episode on while I'm doing chores so I can focus on listening, or I'll turn off the sound so I can just watch. He's very expressive and talks with his hands a lot.

As for his psychology - for me, his playfulness is his most prominent trait. The Game really is a game to him - he takes it seriously but also doesn't see any reason not to have fun with it. In the Werner Ziiiiiiiegler scene, he's clearly delighted at having a mystery to solve. When Mike interrupts his phone call with Werner, he doesn't get mad - he smiles, because he's found a worthy opponent.

He's intensely curious and extremely intelligent - his theme is called "Nothing Gets Past Lalo" for a reason. He loves puzzles and is very good at them. Without a challenge, he gets bored, and a bored Lalo is very dangerous. He'll go make up trouble if it doesn't come to him.

He's got a streak of noblesse oblige (think of the scene with the migrants), which is why he tries persuasion first most of the time. Sometimes, alas, the little people must die for the greater good (him winning the Game), but he likes people for the most part. They're fun to play with. He loves to charm and persuade, but he loves to tease and annoy just as much. He enjoys attention, however he can get it.

He thinks very highly of himself, but I wouldn't say that he has an ego, exactly - like, he would never lose his shit over someone 'disrespecting' him the way Tuco does. It would be beneath him to care what the little people think of him, so he doesn't. That being said, he does like people to appreciate him, especially the ones he considers under his 'protection' (except when he has to slaughter them for his own purposes).

But he wants to be loved, not feared, and it seems like he's successful, if the scenes with his staff at the hacienda and with his double and his wife are any indication. He considers himself sentimental, but it's more like playing at having feelings. I don't think he's fully aware of how shallow his emotional pool is.

He's extremely good at figuring people out, but he does it through logic rather than empathy, which he lacks. When Kim came to visit him in jail, it takes her mentioning that they're married for him to figure out they're in love, while most people would have gotten it right away just from how she was acting.

It's hard to make him angry, but when he does lose his temper, it's a total meltdown - think of him beating the chair against the wall in the sewers when he finds out Hector's phone is tapped.

He's incapable of feeling anxiety. Even when Gus sends assassins after him, his response is anger, not fear.

I could probably go on lol, but hopefully that's a good start! And don't be afraid to put your own twist on him - this is just my interpretation. I like to write a slightly different Lalo with every fic, emphasizing or de-emphasizing various facets of his personality depending on what I would like to explore. To me, characterization in a fic is more about writing possible versions of the character than mimicking canon exactly. You want to keep them recognizable, of course, but don't be afraid to play around. Lalo would want you to have fun with him!

What Did I Watch: #29

Once in a blue moon, GMMTV will be smart enough to drop their most unsuspecting series and it just blow you away. Such as Bad Buddy. Who would have thought back then? But let's not talk about that because dammit Ohm, you have one job to do. Not being a problematic ass bitch.

I'm just going to pray hard that any of the casts of My School President isn't a homophobic. Because this show is everything. It was one of the best that ever came out from GMMTV. It was a joy and happiness, mixed into one. It did remind me a lot of how falling in love supposed to be like. It warmed my heart and proceed with a lot of care. If they land this on high note, this could dethroned Skam S3 as my favorite queer show of all time.

People talked about how its story really rights the wrong of GMMTV ever did in the past. But I want to talk about the sound. I adore its sound department. How they used the surrounding sound to enhance the vibe. Or how smooth it is to just incorporate those sound effects and maximize its impact on certain scenes. Or how brilliantly sometimes the sound cuts on pivotal moment and somehow it made the scene so much powerful than just let the sound effect ran through without much precaution. It's just wonderful to finally found a BL that knows how to tell a story through sound.

(and tbh, rarely i saw post talk about the significance of a great sound department on a series. the whole sound department, whether it's sound editing, sound mixing, or sound design have the same importance as cinematography and set design yall.)

Example on why My School President not only has a great story but also the technicality of it all is just wonderful. Especially on this scene, in addition to gorgeously adding rain sound and bgm without clashing into one another at the back of the scene, but also the choice of using handheld instead of the classic steadicam, and the lovely acting by Gemini and Fourth, made this particular scene a textbook for upcoming BL's that wanting to do great despite its simplicity.

In any other words, this is fucking good.

Besides MSP that continue to be fantastic, I binge-watched The Glory, which I could summarize with 'BAD BITCH RULE THE WORLD'.

Finally Song Hye-kyo knows how to act other than being sad and pitiful. I love her to death in this kind of role. She swallowed, chewed, then spit on you. On top of that, The Glory is kind of proof for Kim Eun-sook, yes she can write something that wasn't so convoluting and straight-up fun without having too much predicament. I just want her to continue being the bad bitch that she already was. She could wrote Mr. Sunshine, definitely she'll be able to land this smoothly.

Fingers crossed though, this show could give all of us who waiting its second part a happy ending. Because Dong-eun deserves it.

I think I'm going to stop watch Between Us. The funny thing is, it wasn't because I was getting more annoyed by their sound department, but it was rather a petty reason. I watched episode 9 on a flight until suddenly the plane went into turbulence. Definitely a sign.

But good for you to continue whatever is left. I didn't build for character-driven story, so for me this was way too slow for my liking. Personally I felt like nothing happened, Team still not going to seek any help from professionals, Win still acted like he was a caretaker rather than a boyfriend and the fact that any side dishes represented in here was boring to the max, I had enough.

MIXED: joel looking for tommy??? i feel like this really glosses over the "this ain't boston lay your hands on me again and i'll fuck you up" thing. why is tommy even still hanging out with him. it's good shorthand for the whole thing with the car battery i GUESS but like :/

GOOD: ellie and joel are both perfectly cast. ellie's potty mouth and joel's gruffness are both perfect. also i LOOOVE that marlene's VA gets to play her irl too i love when they do that shit. she is so beautiful as well it must be said

GOOD: radio smuggler's code. i love how quick ellie figured it out and i loved ending on funky 80s music. was not expecting that at ALL

BAD: ik a tv show can't throw you directly into the action the way a game would, but some of the pacing felt absolutely GLACIAL. i feel like what they were doing was worldbuilding maybe but then why rush through the robert section? even the sarah section was just the teensiest tiniest bit too long. this was an hour and 20 minutes. let's trim some of this down, people!!

GOOD: marlene like you don't have a fuckin ear on your fuckin head kim. so true she literally doesn't. i feel like tlou the game relies on ellie for most of its comic relief and since she wasn't in most of the episode they had to find it in other ways but they did and thats good

i love howard and he absolutely did not deserve what happened to him, but it does annoy me how so much of the fandom started treating him like a saint in the later seasons. it also annoys me that people act like he was never shitty to jimmy or kim, or that they had no valid reasons to dislike him? obviously that doesn’t remotely justify what they did, and he had every right to hate them after what they pulled in season 6 (and what jimmy did in season 5), but like the “howard is a saint who did nothing wrong” narrative is annoying.

I like to refer to this phenomenon as Chuckification and it's incredibly annoying when you're trying to have a conversation about the characters beyond 'my poor little meow meow' and 'die 😡' and this don't-speak-ill-of-the-dead nonsense starts.

I guess it really works when the writers want the audience to empathize with a character (well, unless the character is a woman — see Skyler or even Kim from a certain point on), huh? Still. I think the way the show portrays Howard in S5 is really clever because yeah he's doing the work (therapy) and he's genuinely trying in his own way but he still doesn't quite get what is Jimmy's problem with him or why he wouldn't accept his job offer after everything that happened. Same goes for Kim when he goes to her with unsolicited advice, last thing she told him before that was to stay away and there's no love lost between them.

What I find interesting about all this is that someone like Walt gets less scrutiny from the audience compared to Jimmy and Kim. Maybe it's just down to the difference between the two shows and how they frame their stories — a great example of this is Fun and Games, which concludes the prequel portion of the plot in the most somber way possible and when it finally 'reveals' Saul Goodman, it makes you wish it didn't.

Quick gay movies reviews

It's Pride, so I'm watching a gay movie a day to keep the heteros away. I'm going to do this once a week to review the movies I watched. Also going to discuss Heartstopper since I watched it right before Pride started. Hopefully I don't forget any, but I most likely will:

FIre Island

Really cute. Definitely meant for adults. It's a great adaptation of Pride + Prejudice. I do find it funny that the movie points out that racism, especially Anti-Asian sentiments, in the gay community, and how white men are treated like the prize to win, and the most liked gifsets on here are for the side character who ended up being a rapist. Anyway, Conrad Ricamora is a dreamboat. I also loved the little bit in the middle where the soundtrack was Kim Petras, Perfume Genius, and then Alvvays. Chef's kiss.

Maurice

Hugh Grant was very pretty in this movie, which is surely why most of the images I've seen of this film are of him, but his character was annoying. I loved that the conflict later on became about Maurice dating someone who was of a lower class than he, rather than the drama about him being gay. I wish the movie had kept the epilogue where the sisters accept Maurice since they realize he's happy. The movie was gorgeous to look at. The directing was beautiful.

Jongens

I can see why this movie was titled Boys, since they are literally children. I wish we had more background on why the lead was afraid to come out and why he played straight until the end. It felt more of just general culture, but it's never really brought up. It just seemed to be there to add drama for the love story, but I wish we had seen that maybe his brother or his dad was slightly homophobic if we was going to be in the closet. I do realize this was written by a straight woman I believe, and I'll talk more about that in my Beach Rats review. Either way, this movie was fine. I think I'm just too old for this whole closeted kid plot, and I just wish we understood why he was in the closet besides societal pressures when no one seemed to care.

Breaking Fast

I remembered the lead from Those People, and I liked him better there. I don't know how I felt about these leads being not like other gays. It felt like it painted every other gay character who wasn't the lead and his love interest as shallow, idiotic, and horny. But not these two! They like cooking together and don't drink or have sex! I think they should've skipped the religious debate if they weren't going to expand beyond some people were hurt by Islam so they left the religion, but Islam itself isn't inherently homophobic. I think that people constantly try to have it both ways sometimes, but you can't really act like conservative religious folks in Middle-Eastern countries who throw gay men off buildings aren't actually followers of their religion, much as Christians saying homophobes don't represent their religion or their attempt to make their holy text seem more progressive than it actually is.

Fun Fact: One of the men in the choir during the birthday scene is actually an acquaintance. Hey, David!

Handsome Devil

I actually really enjoyed this movie, but I felt it was slightly neutered. I didn't care that the leads didn't end up together because I do think it's important that queer people can just be friends. I also don't think the movie ever states if the lead is actually gay or if he just doesn't care if he's labeled as such. I did zone out during the rugby parts, but the coach was very annoying. I do wish the English teacher and his boyfriend had actually touched at least. I did wonder if this movie inspired Alice Oseman to make Heart/Stopper since they're both about a rugby player befriending the outcast, but both projects were probably written around the same time so it's coincidence.

Matthias et Maxime

What was the directing at parts of this movie? The random dramatic zoom-ins took me out. I did like the openended nature of Matt showing up right before Max goes to the airport, and I also liked Max finding the drawing Matt made of them as farmers together. I think it's interesting to think that they might actually be gay/bi but in denial due to societal norms seen by the way the one more effete member of their friend group is bullied and called a fag by the rest. I will say that if any of the characters besides Max and Matt were in a slasher flick, they'd all die. Finally, that scene where Matt kisses Max's birthmark was super-hot, and that's all I say about it.

Beach Rats

While I did like that this movie gave a motivation for why our lead didn't come out, this whole movie was pretty hard to watch for me. And it wasn't because of the homophobia he faced, but because I find everyone in it prickly and awful. The best person was probably his beard, but even she had issues. I also despised the ending with the gay-bashing.

Like I mentioned earlier, this movie was written by a cishet woman, which is completely fine, but I generally find that cishet people, when writing queer characters, focus on suffering. Matthias et Maxime was also about sexuality, but it's told in a more mature way since the people working on it are actually queer. This movie seemed to be about a closeted boy (the movie makes sure to show his limp dick when having sex with a girl and his erection when he's with a man), but they focus so much on his internal struggle that it just feels like I myself am being tortured. At the end, it seems like he decides to bury himself in the closet since his friends kill a gay man over weed (which itself was ridiculous. For weed? Lordt).

I also just wanted to point out how much I hated this era of electronic music. It's so ugly-sounding to me. That scene on the boat with all the Skrillex style beats made me want to shut off this movie, especially since the whole flick made me uncomfortable (like why were there so many longing shots of prepubescent people?). Overall, do not recommend this one at all, but that's my personal taste.

HeartStopper

I was very surprised to come on here and read some of the discourse people have been having on this series. People on here are seriously angry that an LGBT show aimed at a younger audience exists, mocking it for not having drug use, sex, nudity, or a lot of swearing. I think there is a time and place for all of that, and you all know that shows like Sex Education, Elite, and Euphoria exist, right? This show is for actual 12-18 year olds who are still discovering themselves, and it's meant to assure them that there's nothing wrong with them and they deserve love.

I've also been confused on people saying this show sanitizes discrimination when we have characters like Ben who are afraid to be out due to how aggressive Henry (Harry?) is, Elle being bullied and ostracized for being trans, and a whole episode dedicated to people's lesbophobia affecting Tara.

Overall, this show felt truer to my own experiences at that age than most of the series I've seen about 15-17 year olds. I also just really enjoyed it and thought it was cute. It's a show I wish I had had when I was struggling with the closet when I was Charlie's age. And to me, it being family friend is actually a bonus, so I can suggest it to my sister as a show for their young boys to watch instead of something like 13 Reasons Why, which is a sensationalized soap opera that uses scandalizes premises to generate buzz much. I'd much rather watch a show where two boys fall in love, befriend a lesbian couple from their sister school, and then join forces to setup their trans friend and her crush.

Sometimes, I just need something wholesome, and sometimes, I need something like Fire Island. And some of you seriously need a reality check if you think it's a bad thing for a major streaming service to make a rated PG show about LGBT teens when previously anything that hinted at LGBT people was automatically rated R.

Miraculous Rant.

Where the hell do I begin…

Season 1:

The show was decent in season 1. Some episodes were just mindless filler and probably weren’t needed in the grand scheme of things but they helped us get introduced to the characters, we got to know the plot and the world our characters inhabit. It was good. The love story between Adrien and Marinette was cute and off to a touching and fluffy start.

Season 2:

This season was immediately better than season 1. It had character development, it went more into detail about the lore surrounding the Miraculous and we got to learn more about our characters and their families and the villian’s motives. (HM really went from “I wanna destroy the world” to “I wanna wake my wife from the coma she’s in”).

We got to see new heroes which was fun! We got new characters like Luka and Kagami.

The season finale was epic! The Miraculous team all taking down all the previous villains in the show was awesome. At the end we even got Mari kissing Adrien on the cheek. It was great! (Even though it clearly reset itself in season 3 cause it’s never mentioned again)

I really enjoyed season 2 and it’s probably my favourite out of the 4.

Season 3:

Season 3 was kinda good and kinda bad. We had some great episodes but this is where the show took the wrong turn.

Marinette lost some of her character in season 3. This was the start of her descent into being the Queen of Mary Sues. It’s also where she was crowned the Queen of Stalkers! Her character took a fucking nose dive in this season. We had so many moments that just creeped me the fuck out.

1. The ENTIRETY of Puppeteer 2 🤢🤢🤢 I could not stand that episode. When we reached the dreaded statue scene I physically had to pause it like 10 times. That scene takes about 3 minutes to watch… it took me about 20. I cringed so fucking hard because of the secondhand embarrassment I was feeling. That was not sweet, it wasn’t romantic, it wasn’t the least bit cute… it was a train wreck! It was creepy and stalkerish and it’s a wonder Adrien even spoke to her again after that atrocity!

2. LB delivering the present in Chat Blanc. Two words: STALKER BEHAVIOUR!!! I genuinely could not believe my eyes when I saw LB run her hand across everything in his room and then actually SNIFF Adrien’s pillow. Like WTF!!! 🤮 I’m pretty sure whoever was responsible for that scene clearly thought it was the equivalent of when someone gets their S/O’s jumper or something and it still smells like them. But this turned it up to the nth degree and way passed the line of sanity.

Adrien was extremely under-utilised in this season. He didn’t really do anything. The only episodes we got about him didn’t really focus on him. ‘Felix’ whilst focusing on Adrien’s family didn’t really feature him. ‘Party Crasher’ while a beautiful mess was more about Mari trying to get into the party than the party itself. ‘Chat Blanc’ again focused more on Mari trying to fix her mistake.

We got even more heroes in season 3, not in the right order but they were there. It was fun seeing everyone’s transformations.

Season 3 was also the season of destroying redemptions. The big one obviously being Chloe. Season 2 was setting up this amazing redemption for her and before it could go anywhere it was wiped off the face of the earth during the finale (and don’t worry we’ll get to that dumpster fire later). Gabriel also had any remaining sympathy ripped away from him. How did the guy who stopped Gorizilla from letting Adrien die when he only thought he was CN go from that to using his son like fucking baseball in Chat Blanc when he knew his son was CN. Like I knew you were a shit father but you still cared about Adrien in some way shape or form but after that episode I can see I was clearly mistaken!

Before we get to the finale I want to talk about probably my 2 least favourite episodes from this season: Desperada and Reflekdoll

Desperada:

I fucking hated this episode! The only good thing was Luka getting to be Viperion, other than that this episode was awful!

Marinette was a selfish cringey bitch. Completely ignoring Luka to gush about Adrien to Jagged. Brushing Luka off as soon as Adrien turns up. Immediately cuddling up to Aspik and flirting with him when she needed to focus on the akuma (something which she has told CN not to do many times before)

Adrien, I love you kid but Jesus Christ you were a dumbass in this episode! Aspik’s design was terrible! Aspik himself was awful. I know Adrien tried his best but dude you were given the Black Cat miraculous for a reason! He shouldn’t have tried to be Aspik but even when he did he should’ve called it quits after like 5 resets not 25,913 times.

The only person with a brain this episode was Luka. So well done guitar boy, gold star!

Reflekdoll:

This episode was annoying! It was basically the start of the Marinette can do no wrong streak! When they have to swap miraculous I was happy cause it meant we got to see new outfits and see how they each handle the different powers. It would also serve as a way to get LB and CN to see what their partners role is first hand. Until we actually get to it…

LadyNoire is of course amazing and needs no introduction to using this new miraculous that she’s never used before. She’s cocky and confident and basically just LB in Chat’s costume with his powers.

Mister Bug on the other hand is just useless. He struggles with this new miraculous (like anyone would!) and is stupid and goofy. He has to rely on LadyNoire to solve the lucky charm. They swapped miraculous so shouldn’t that mean that Mister Bug should get the lucky vision and the creative powers that the earrings give him.

Overall Reflekdoll is awful. It was shitty writing and the start of Adrien getting the short end of the stick.

And now the season 3 finale… Just what the fuck. That is my only reaction: what the fuck!

Chloe you poor fucking child! What did they do to you!!! So much potential SQUANDERED!!!!

What was the point in bringing in all these different superheros with unique skill sets, costumes and transformations if you were just going to immediately reveal them to the main villian so they can’t be used again. That’s stupid! If you wanted the shock value that is “Oh no HM knows some of the heroes identities!” Then keep it as only some. Have like Max, Kim and Kagami outside trying to find somewhere to hide but unfortunately they get hit. Or Nino and Alya are hiding but the windows open and they get hit. Have some of the heroes hide so they’re fine! Taking away every ally of LB and CN’s was a stupid move! (Even if they wanted Alya to become a spy have her as part of the like 4 that get revealed or something, it’s not that difficult)

Season 3 was 50/50 for me

Season 4:

So I know season 4 isn’t even halfway through yet but so much is wrong with this season already that I need to vent!

So my biggest problem with this season of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybitch and Rena Rouge, I mean Rena Furtive… shit, Chat Noir! Is that CN is basically pointless! Adrien has been flung over a rainbow and is only remembered when he’s needed as

1. Marinette’s love interest

2. Someone for LB to shout at

3. A plot device

He has basically been sidelined. Partners my ASS!!!

Adrien is being blown off by pretty much EVERYONE! It’s coming to a point where this poor sweet summer child is going to crack! And it is not gonna be pretty… I definitely feel like the writers are leading up to a big fight between CN and LB which will probably end with Chat Blanc 2.0.

I REALLY HATE MARINETTE/LADYBUG!!!! In Season 3 I said it was the beginning of her descent, well in season 4 she’s done it. She’s descended, she has hit rock fucking bottom. She is so unlikable I don’t actually care about her as a person. She has entered full blown stalker territory it’s only a matter of time before she starts killing people for even looking at Adrien! Not to mention that Miss Mary Sue here can’t do anything wrong! She never has to suffer the consequences of her actions, she is always perfect no matter what she does… it pisses me off!)

She’s the Guardian now big whoop. I know what it feels like to be stressed and under pressure so I do understand why she needed to tell someone about it all. I just don’t see why that person had to Alya! Especially considering she has someone by her side every akuma attack going through pretty much the exact same thing. I know she’s worried about CB happening again but as I said before the more she leaves him out the more she is actually pushing that to become a possibility! Plus it makes sense for them to reveal their identities now since LB is now the guardian it’s probably a good idea to know who holds the cat miraculous, she knows everyone else’s identities!

Even if she didn’t want to tell CN her identity she could still explain the situation to him. If she didn’t want to tell him anything (which she doesn’t anyway) then instead of Alya she should’ve talked to Luka! Her boyfriend for all of half an episode (thanks writers…). He’s so sweet and caring and clearly loves her so much! If she wanted someone to confide in then why not choose the person you clearly wanted to date but couldn’t because of that very reason! (Yeah I know it’s kinda a moot point now since Luka knows both identities but still). He wanted to try and comfort her so it would’ve been the perfect moment for it. That way you could still date him and he’d know why you had to suddenly leave dates halfway through! But no break the boys heart instead!

Adrien and Marinette were both such fucking idiots in the first 2 episodes. Like why would you start a relationship with someone when you know your heart isn’t in it! That’s called leading someone on and is a really shitty thing to do to someone! No wonder Kagami and Luka ended up akumatized!

Another aspect of season 4 I don’t like is Rena Furtive. Yes ok having a spy for your side is a good strategy but when said spy basically tells an important member of a duo that the 2 person job doesn’t involve them… it just really ticks me off! Alya you are the sidekick to LB and CN! Chat isn’t!

Miraculous specials:

The Miraculous World specials suck! Shanghai is better than NY but still has its problems. Both specials add nothing to the overall plot/lore of the show apart from trying to set up some weird cinematic universe…

NY special:

One of the worst things I’ve ever had to sit through! The plane scene alone I paused a few times. I want to say well done to Mari for trying to move on from Adrien (especially considering I’m pretty sure she’s dating Luka at this point) but I can’t help but think it’s just to give her character some pointless development that goes nowhere and doesn’t actually develop anything!

LB can pretty much fuck off at this point! I hate her! She put all this shit on CN (like she doesn’t know exactly how that feels). It’s like why does she get to go off on holiday but CN can’t. LB should’ve stayed in Paris for 3 reasons:

1. She’s recently become the guardian meaning it would probably be best that she stayed with the Mircle Box

2. She’s the only one who can purity the akumas

3. If she’s so sure about being the boss then she should take responsibility of Paris and the citizens.

What really pisses me off about her is what she says to CN during the big fight. “I can’t trust you”… surely you could have this conversation afterwards since you’re supposed to be focusing on taking down the villian! Plus everyone bashes Adrien for giving his miraculous up in this episode but look at it from his point of view: His partner and best friend just said she couldn’t trust him which in turn caused him to cataclysm someone and essentially kill them. That’s gonna take a toll on anyone, especially a 14 year old! He probably thought in that moment. “Ladybug needs a partner she can trust and someone who won’t mess up and kill someone. She needs a better partner.” It makes sense he renounces his miraculous! I’m just upset that in doing so he loses Plagg who is pretty much his only friend who actually understands what Adrien goes through at home.

When Uncanny gets CN to come back, LB acts like it’s not her fault in the first place that he feels inadequate! She didn’t even apologise for saying what she did! He apologised for lying about not being in Paris but nope LB wasn’t in the wrong at all and didn’t have anything to apologise for 🙄… (yes the LadyNoir hug was amazing but I just wish it was under different circumstances!)

Also are we not gonna mention Gabriel Agreste almost starting WW3??? He wanted to launch a fucking missile!!!

Shanghai:

As I said before, this special is way better for several reasons.

We got MariChat! (Best side to the love square imo). This special actually had some semblance on a plot. Fei, whilst a bit op, was a cool character. It was nice to see Wang Cheng again.

However once again there were many problems.

A big one being Marinette yet again! (What a shock! 😒 I’ll come back to this). Another was that once again HM’s motivation has changed. How is getting the Prodigious gonna help bring back Emilie??

Back to Marinette… The fact that the words “Huh?! There must be some kind of mistake! I always know what's up with Adrien! … His 5 first names and every corresponding name date, his yearly schedule, even his shoe size! If there were anything to know about him, I would know it!” come out of her mouth whilst she is flipping through his schedule that she keeps in her pocketbook is a hugh red flag!!! That is not cute or adorable! That’s messed up and Adrien needs to fucking run and maybe possibly go into witness protection… Marinette is a full blown stalker! It also is extremely rude of her to use not only her great uncle’s birthday but also a lie about wanting to know her Chinese heritage in order to go to Shanghai to stalk her obsession, I mean crush. This could’ve been avoided if the Dupain-Chengs were going to Shanghai for the purpose of celebrating Wang Cheng’s bday and then Adrien just so happened to be in Shanghai.

Also this means LB left Paris without telling CN! I know CN did the same but again he can’t purify the akumas. Plus he has a reason he couldn’t stay in Paris, Mari just went cause her crush did. Great guardianship there Marinette.

This was also the last time CN actually did something. Even if it was for a short while before LB and her female partner took over (the beginning of a theme…)

Other things:

There are 2 other things that I wanna say but felt they needed a separate bit.

In Furious Fu, Su-Han has a rule book that he uses to tell Marinette which rules she has broken. At the end of the episode he tells her that is she breaks 1 more rule that he will take the Miraculous and the Miracle Box off her, which fair enough but wouldn’t it be helpful to leave the rule book with her?! How can she be wary of not breaking anymore rules when she doesn’t even know what the rules are??

Now the big one: Master Fu…

Where do I even start with him. He is so fucking manipulative!! He is Asian Dumbledore!

He decides to leave these extremely powerful jewels in the hands of 13 year olds! Surely leaving the miraculous to someone in their 20s would’ve been better!

He clearly favours LB over CN even though the Ladybug and Black Cat are supposed to be partners! Wouldn’t it make sense for them both to be in contact with the guardian from the start?? He randomly started introducing rules such as if LB and CN find out each other’s identities they would lose their miraculous… what kind of bullshit rule is that? It also came out of fucking nowhere!

Final Thoughts:

But to summarise all of that: Miraculous is on quite a steep decline but I’m invested at this point and I am genuinely curious as to where the fuck this will go.

Marinette needs professional fucking help before the writers even consider canonising Adrienette cause at the moment she is not what Adrien needs!

Adrien needs to stand up for himself! He needs to pull LB to the side and tell her what he feels and what he’s going through cause he is on the precipice of a breakdown!

(Small point that’s more to do with the fandom: when searching for fanfics it’s really annoying that Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir Bashing is a tag but Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug Bashing isn’t. Why does everyone think Marinette can do no wrong???)
