i know that husk is canonically pansexual (which is so good and i have many thoughts) but i think it would be so funny if husk has never really been into dudes substantially. maybe a hookup here and there, but never a longlasting relationship, and if he was looking for that, he assumes he would be into someone pretty chill and lowkey, low maintenance, someone he can chill with and it’s just easy and stuff. what he’s not expecting is to fall in love with a loud, in-your-face, prissy twink with expensive taste (and expensive habits)

if i could tell 15 year old me that i would be making plans to find an apartment and go to grad school, and if i could tell 15 year old me that i would have a group of friends to hang out with every night, and if i could tell 15 year old me that people love me for who i am and accept all of my flaws and ramblings and hyperfixations, and if i could tell 15 year old me that i finally feel like i deserve to be happy… i know she wouldn’t believe me but maybe she would have a new sense of hope. you will not be 15 forever and you will find new songs to dance to and new books to love and new people to cherish. you will decorate your walls with fun paintings and notes and trinkets from those you love. and you will be okay, because the world does not end when you’re 15.

my father has such a fun vocabulary when talking to the cats (a totally normal and not autistic-dad thing to do). when they do something odd, he asks them, “cats, what is your dysfunction?” and when they are in his face he asks, “cats, what is your business?”
he calls their zoomies the “absolute mania of man” and calls my cat- who is a little chubby- a “bumbling bunches of boy.” he often spoils them and loves them. one of our cats is currently running amuck and my father just uttered the words: “he’s gone full banana.”

it's an art, you know. loving someone you can't have? it's an art. it's a way to convince yourself that, even if you can't confess to them, you're capable of caring enough to want to wake up in the morning. it's a testament to all of the pain you've been through. tells you that the map you've followed all your life, with all of its twists and turns and roadblocks, has lead you right where you need to be: here, alive, loving. loving. loving. and yeah, maybe you can say it to them, those three words. you can't really mean it, though, and that's what hurts, right? you can tell them, "i love you. i hope you're happy and healthy. you deserve it." you can tell them, "you're my favorite person. i love you so much." you can tell them, "you're the best friend i've ever had. i love you." no matter what, you can shower them with love. pray they understand. and if they don't? the heart beating in your chest is a consolation, isn't it?

yall know i love jac schaeffer and wandavision but. boy am i glad that they cut this.
LIKE. i understand completely what kind of vibe they were trying to communicate. i know what they were going for. but, in my mind, there's no earthly way wanda, with all of her compassion, would be the one to just turn around and leave vision there, no matter how much of an ""i don't know you"" feeling is present
(which. i personally do not think there would be but i am immensely biased lmao)

i am so obsessed with the idea of husk having to get sloppy drunk for the first time in a hot minute to confront that he has feelings for angel, yet angel stays sober for the same damn thing. can you imagine having Sober Clarity for the first time in ages and suddenly the guy you’re into gets drunk off his ass, confesses he might be in love with you, and falls asleep at the bar right then and there. what is angel supposed to do with that. how does angel respond to that. i think it’s so fucking funny.
but while it’s funny, it’s also the thing that angel wasn’t expecting, and that leads to angel helping husk into bed and takjng care of his hangover the next morning. he refuses to talk about it until husk is functioning properly, which is relatively out of character, but angel cares so much about doing this right.
husk half expects the confession to go “i like you” “i like you too” “drunk sex?” “yes” which is why he’s nervous and therefore gets drunk drunk, and maybe that’s how it would have gone in the past, but angel realizes he wants this to be real so he’s taking the lead and having a real conversation for the first time ever. he’s the one who says, “okay, you wanna do this? then we have to talk.”
so, they talk. angel confesses that he has the same feelings for husk, and they discuss the options for a relationship- because let’s be real, hell isn’t exactly the best place to fall in love even on a good day, let alone with their respective “someone owns my soul” situations. i think that angel and husk having to sit down and create a plan of action for navigating both a relationship and sobriety is so lovely- what happens when someone relapses, how to handle mood swings, etc etc. they love each other. they’re being intentionally communicative. they want to see this through.
it’s not easy, and they have aren’t perfect, but they’re trying, and that’s what matters.
(ty @withalittlesorcery for helping me flesh this thought out!)

angel has never experienced a healthy relationship with his sexuality.
when he was alive, he would have had to hide it; maybe a few chaste kisses with guys here and there, maybe a single trip to a basement bar that required knowing the right people and the right password- but never anything substantial, or open, or fulfilling. and even if he could have those experiences, they were dangerous; he’s the son of a high power mob boss, and angel cares so much about his family- about molly- that he would never do anything to jeopardize that.
so when he gets to hell, he’s vulnerable. he’s pent up. he’s spent thirty years in life suppressing his sexuality- but here, with all of the other queers? with all of the people like him? he experiments, and gets a rush because it’s new, and he’s new, and shiny, and easy to manipulate. he has a new body that he needs to understand, anyway, right? there’s no harm in trying things out.
and when valentino gets a whiff of him, when he sees a sparkling new sinner ready and willing to learn in death what he could never have in life, he easily jumps in for the kill.
angel’s foundation of his sexuality is manipulated. it’s not until he meets husk that he, for the first time since he was born, since he was alive, has a sexual experience that’s founded on consent and his pleasure, not just what he’s supposed to like. and that’s terrifying, but it brings its own thrill at the same time. husk is the first person to care about him in public, in ways angel didn’t know he needed, in ways not just focused on coercion or obligation.

when Angel and Husk get together- properly together, “i love you” together- Angel finally has to face the fact that what Valentino is doing to him, is abuse.
he knows that it’s bad, it’s fucked up, it’s an unhealthy power dynamic- but he’s never thought of it as abuse because at one point, a long time ago, he consented, and he signed that contract with a fairly decent idea of what he was getting into, and if this was abuse then he wouldn’t have signed up for it, right? right? and it’s not that angel is too dumb to see it for what it really is. Angel knows that Valentino is abusive and we see that when he stands up to him at the club and when he tries to get Val to ignore Charlie when she comes to the studio- but what gets me is the fact that Angel focuses more on protecting his friends than himself. Angel’s threshold for abuse is “you can do it to me, not to my friends,” and in a way isn’t that kind of consent in itself, right? so Angel isn’t really being abused, even though he openly admits to being exploited, right?
that’s what he desperately tries to tell himself, at least, even when he does try to break himself so Valentino can find another toy to play with.
so, no. Angel doesn’t think of himself as a victim of abuse until he gets closer to Husk, until he starts dating Husk, until Husk is asking for consent just to kiss him and holding him in a way that doesn’t make him feel caged in and letting angel bitch and moan all he wants. Angel doesn’t see himself as a victim of abuse until Husk apologizes for raising his voice at him during an argument and holds his shaky hands after a nightmare and listens to Angel when he asks for time alone.
and that makes going back to the studio that much harder.
because he finds has someone who will listen and respect his boundaries. he has someone who asks to touch him, even when just holding his hand, and someone who knows him well enough to make him a drink in advance when he gets home after a long day. he has someone who makes him want to get sober, someone who makes him believe in this whole redemption thing, someone he doesn’t have to perform in front of.
it’s hard to go back to Valentino. it’s harder knowing that Husk will be there at the end of the night, regardless of how fucked up Angel feels.

i am desperate and begging on my KNEES for more husk lore. the fact that husk and angel were born around the same time and yet no one talks about that. husk saw such vast advancement in the world where angel died young and i NEEEEED to know how he lived his life. did he have children. was he a veteran. was he a vegas native or transplant. what were his thoughts on the moon landing as someone in his late 60s/early 70s when it happened. how does his identity as a black man in the early to late 1900s impact his lack of identity as a new creature in hell. what did he do to become an overlord and what aspects of leadership did he use to run his casino!! what kind of boss is he!! i wanna know about his family!! did he have a wife!! was there a catalyst to his drinking!! did he die alone or did he have at least a single friend who cared about him!! he’s tragic too wheres his tragedy!!

does husk get random cat urges. like trying not to push glasses off the bar or having like five minutes every few hours where he has to hold himself back from going crazy and bouncing off the walls bc he has the zoomies. do you think he flexes his claws or freezes up when anything touches his stomach and that’s why he doesn’t wear a shirt. just how far does his cat instinct go before Humanoid Man takes over

consider: husk and angel slow dancing in the pink neon light of angel’s room so they can have privacy and peace of mind that they’re the only ones around. you agree. reblog

husk can’t cook for shit but he makes drinks like no one’s business. obviously this is part of the course for a bartender, of course he knows how to make drinks, but you can only make so many martinis and old fashioneds before it starts feeling old and boring and monotonous- so husk gets experimental with his cocktails, just for fun, and uses angel as a test dummy. some drinks are hits, some are misses, some are almost there and just need tweaking, and angel is more than happy to provide feedback
and angel, who is an amazing cook, does the same with husk. he does a lot of traditional italian meals, but again, you can only have the same eight pasta dishes so many times before it just gets bland and frustrating. so angel tries new recipes and tries to come up with his own spins on stuff, and even branches out into other cultural dishes. he doesn’t have a lot of time outside of work, but as he starts clubbing less and less, he starts cooking more and more- and he and husk can usually be found in the hotel kitchen late at night.
once they’re officially a couple, most of their date nights include husk sitting on the counter while angel cooks a good dinner and once it’s done they move to the bar, where husk makes special drinks for the two of them. it’s domestic and quiet and so very needed- a calm and relaxed getaway from the chaos that is hell. all they need is each other, and they’re good to go.

i will never stop thinking about husk holding out his hand and offering to dance with angel, instead of val not even touching angel as he dances for val. the dichotomy of clunky and awkward but together vs smooth and practice but apart, the dichotomy of consent being asked for and given vs consent being taken and ignored— it is everything to me

davey jacobs is a serial fact checker. davey jacobs is the "hang on, let me google this" friend. davey jacobs is the guy who does research while in class just so he can have a personal conversation with a professor after class about how he got one of his facts wrong.
but davey jacobs is also a master bullshitter. davey jacobs can say something so wrong and make someone believe him because he says it with conviction. davey jacobs likes pranking his friends by telling them fun facts that are not at all true just because he is designated as the Facts Guy and he leans into it.
davey jacobs is correct a lot of the time but when he's incorrect he's still making himself appear correct.
