Lesbian Autobiography ‘My Solo Exchange Diary, vol. 2′ Nominated for Eisner Award

Yesterday, Comic-Con announced the 2020 nominees for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. The nominees included over 170 online and print comic titles in 31 categories.Alongside these industry celebrated titles included Nagata Kabi’s My Solo Exchange Diary, vol. 2, translated by Jocelyne Allen. The manga, squeal to the hit My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness was nominated for the Best Reality-Based Work award.

Nagata Kabi’s other works include the first volume of My Solo Exchange Diary and My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness. The latter, originally released on Nagata’s Pixiv page, was widely celebrated for its honest and personal depiction of the author’s struggle with mental illness and sexuality. The book was featured in the NPR Guide to 2017′s Great Reads and won the 2018 Harvey Award for Best Manga. Nagata’s new manga, My Alcoholic Escape from Reality, was published last year in Japan by East Press. It is licensed by Seven Seas with a planned English release in January 2021.

The Eisner Awards are a yearly celebrated of the best of the comic book industry. While judges normally meet in San Diego to discuss nominees, because of the COVID-19 epidemic, the judges communicated online. Professionals will vote on the winners with results announced in July.

200 pages in and this is already one of my new faves. I just started reading it today too. Feels so good to actually read one of the books I have in my collection again. Took me long enough.

The author is Audrey Coulthurst and the cover artist and designer are Jacob Eisinger and Michelle Taormina respectively.
