It's Monday: What Are You Reading?---March 11th, 2024
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet and share what you have been and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organize yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit, comment, and add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book…

Book Review
James J. Cudney: Watching Glass Shatter.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ American Literature, Fiction. Published 2017
Blurb: The wealthy Glass family lost its patriarch, Benjamin Glass, sooner than expected. Benjamin’s widow, Olivia, and her 5 sons each react to his death in their own way while preparing for the reading of his will. Olivia receives a very unexpected confession from her late husband about one of their sons that could shatter the whole family.
Prior to revealing the secret to her children, Olivia must figure out which boy Ben refers to in the confession he left her in his will. While the family attorney searches for the mysterious Rowena Hector whom Ben says holds the answers, Olivia asks her sons to each spend a week with her as she isn’t ready to let go of the past. When Olivia visits her sons, she quickly learns that each one has been keeping his own secret from her. Olivia never expected her remaining years would be so complex and life-altering, but she will not rest until her family is reunited after Ben’s untimely death.
We all need family. We all want to fit in. We’re all a mix of quirky personalities. Will Olivia be able to fix them or will the whole family implode? What will she do when she discovers the son behind Ben’s secret? Check out this ensemble cast where each family member’s perspective is center stage, discovering along the way who might feel the biggest impact from all the secrets. Welcome to being an honorary member of the Glass family.
My review: Bumped up to 4.5 stars because the ending had me reaching for the tissues. Written with kindness and love, I thought this was a wonderful family drama. A secret kept for years competes with many new family revelations as a family grieves for a loss, and I was really impressed with this debut novel. I’ve already got another book from the author because I enjoyed this one so much. Good job!

Cover Reveal: ‘Haunted House Ghost’ by James J. Cudney
While I have to admit that, because of the hell of a summer I’ve been having, I still haven’t read any of his books, the wonderful James J. Cudney is about to publish yet another installment of his mystery series. What a prolific writer! (Btw the I haven’t yet read them, I now own an ecopy of most of his books. Yay!)
Let’s get into this new one, ‘Haunted House Ghost’!

name:  Pie star sign:  Sagittarius height:  5′6″ - 5′7″
put your music on shuffle. what are the first 6 songs that popped up?
Build God, Then We’ll Talk - Panic! at the Disco
F*** You All The Time - Jeremih (Shlohmo Remix)
Artificial Nocturne - Metric
The Sharpest Lives - My Chemical Romance
Acquainted - The Weeknd
The Driver - Bastille
grab one book nearest to you and turn to page 23. what’s line 17?
“But the Subject consists of two nominal elements, either of which could be Subject on its own, with a third element (‘and’) linking them into a single complex unit.”
Introducing Functional Grammar, 3rd Edition - Geoff Thompson
ever had a poem or a song written about you?  not seriously but as a joke yeah lol when was the last time you played air guitar?  probably last night; I like to pantomime when I lip sync to music
what’s a sound you hate; sound you love?
hate: high-pitched squeaky sounds, mouth sounds
love: soft fabric sounds
do you believe in ghosts ?  umm not in a direct sense how about aliens ?  no
do you drive ? I can if so, have you ever crashed ?  no
what was the last book you read ?  Burnout by Hayden Plunkett; currently reading Watching Glass Shatter by James J. Cudney (both I got for a limited free offer through the Kindle app) what was the last movie you saw ?  Magic Mike XXL lmao. I don’t recommend it but I do recommend the first Magic Mike bc there’s an actual story. I also watched The Last Skywalker on the plane but I fell asleep during it so I’ll have to watch it again! what’s the worst injury you’ve ever had ? luckily for me, I don’t injure myself very much? worst I think was a sprained ankle that I got when my sandal slid underfoot on a very dusty hill, circa 2014. do you have any obsessions right now ? that’s not Dragon Age...? not really.
do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong? I’d love to say no but that’s a lie. that said, it takes a lot of general “everything went wrong” for me to consistently hold a grudge, and the number of people who meet that criteria can be counted on one hand
in a relationship?  married to the word of the Lord 🙏
