Match Review: Leicester City 0-3 Manchester United

It'd be Ruud not to.

Keeping this one short and sweet because I'm tired. A very tidy 3-0 win for United against an obviously poor Leicester City who are getting relegated. The thing is, we haven't been reliable against poor teams, only the big ones when the stakes are massive, and we were away from home, so this is a good three points. Off the back of the 4-1 vs Sociedad it also feels like the start of some form perhaps.

United took the lead through Rasmus Hojlund, but it could have been his senior compatriot in Christian Eriksen who started it - and it would have been Goal of the Month. His belter curling effort from outside the box smashed off the top right corner of the Leicester goal and out of play.

Luckily Denmark would come through, and Rasmus was put in over the top by captain Bruno Fernandes and actually held a great run, didn't overthink it, and potted a cool finish. Actually very impressive.

Ayden Heaven, who was having a fantastic game at LCB, was subbed off in the 51st minute after a clash with Patterson Daka defending a square ball from Jamie Vardy. Daka wasn't at fault, but the youngster did immediately wave for help from the bench and had to be replaced by Toby Collyer.

Fortunately, after the fact, we know he left the ground in a protective boot and without crutches, but the extent of his absence is yet to be determined. Hopefully it's a short stint out, because we've had too many injuries this season yet again. Heaven might beat Shaw back though...

With one drought ended, it was only right that we ended the other - goal number two coming from Alejandro Garnacho who has been reinvigorated as the right no10. I know left is more his style, and perhaps with Amad back he will return there who knows, but he's far less greedy out there and reaped the rewards in karma.

There was a false dawn however. Hojlund drove at the Foxes' defence, forcing them to backpeddle, and Garnacho held his width to the right for the pass. Time and space, he cut back on his defender and bang, left footed finish nice and low. 2-0, duck broken, light work. NOPE. Offside says VAR.

Fortunately moments later some ping pong defending and attacking saw Bruno find Garna and a first-time right foot finish into the net. 2-0 for definite this time.

Jamie Vardy barged Victor Lindelof out of the way and almost put in Buonanotte if not for the heroics of Matthijs De Ligt, but there would be no consolation for Leicester - only further pain.

Casemiro, Zirkzee and birthday boy Harry Amass all came on as late subs (happy 18th, Harry), as did Chido Obi five minutes from time, and it was just the right steer for Bruno Fernandes to bag a goal himself and make it a 3-0 win.

A wonderful cross-field ball from Casemiro to Dalot and then a great big stepover to throw Mavididi into spaghetti leg mode gave Dalot the time to pick out Bruno on the edge of the box and the captain to smash one mid-left of the Leicester net. Game over.

One thing I want to address is the above re: Rashford. He does look sharper but yeah, his "resurgence" has been blown up big time. Watch him score for England under Tuchel now and it be mega, but still. I have no ill will against the lad and feel he needs a new challenge, but hyperbole is fucking irritating. He's looking brighter but he's a senior player with international and continental experience and a massive salary. He should be doing this on a bad day, not in a good spell of form.

Anyway, International break now. Not that exciting. Here's hoping people can rest, recover, and be ready for the Europa challenge.

There's quite a cynical part of me that can't stand it when people start reeling off a list of reasons why x team is better than y team or x manager is better than y manager.

Obviously there's leeway, but people producing anglophone content who proclaim that Pep Guardiola isn't a great manager because he's managing City in the middle of wobble, has spent a very large amount of money in the January transfer window, and hasn't managed a club with smaller resources feels entirely disingenuous.

I don't know much about sociology, so I'd be curious about the background, but there's a palpable sense that, to be a great manager, you have to have either suffered or taken a team with few resources to a title of some description.

That's just obviously not true because then Claudio Ranieri would be classed as such, and it's very clear that he's not some mystical genius for taking Leicester to the title because everything before or since has been relatively OK, if not outright uninspiring.

It is far too simple to write off a manager based on some perceived lack of suffering or feeling that they've had it easier than others because of the amount of money that they've spent on players rather than acknowledging that, sometimes, a manager can be better than just good without having to constantly face the odds.

The caption on that photo says that Louis was in talks to play Jamie in a film? Is that true? I wasn’t around at the time but never heard anything about this! Obviously nothing ever came to fruition but how interesting if that was indeed printed in a magazine about Louis. I wonder if he has any interest in acting in the future. It doesn’t seem like it but who knows!

Yes, that's true! Well, it is true that it was reported on that he was in consideration of playing Vardy, not sure he actually was in talks. They didn’t choose him in the end.

Hello Gina, I have a question, a while ago I heard a rumor about a movie about a soccer player (Jamie Vardy), supposedly Louis was among the options to appear in it, even Louis and Vardy follow each other on networks (Vardy only follows football players) . Do you know if any of this continues? Or is the movie delayed while Louis tours for him?
