Dynamite Comics, Disney Comics and Greg Weisman Set GARGOYLES QUEST Slated For January 2024

Start to celebrate Disney Television Animation's 40th Anniversary with the Manhattan Clan as Disney Comics, Dynamite Entertainment and Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original animated series with new stories...and spinoffs. 

The first one will play off the events of Gargoyles #7, which reintroduced Demona and revealed the backstory that served as the driving force for the recent Gargoyles: Dark Ages miniseries. Now, she finds herself with a new mission: if she's able to take possession of the fabled "New Keys to Power," a set of ancient, magical artifacts, she will be granted with unimaginable and horrific powers. "We all know Demona has it out for the human race, so the big question isn't, 'Why does she want the Three New Keys to Power?' but 'How is she going to use them to destroy her perceived enemies, i.e., humanity?'" Weisman said in a statement.

"Ignacy Jan Paderewski, le célèbre pianiste-compositeur, devait jouer du piano dans un grand théâtre des États-Unis. C’était une soirée mémorable, des smokings noirs et de longues robes de soirée, un spectacle somptueux de la haute société. Étaient présents dans l’auditoire ce soir-là, une mère et son fils agité. Son fils avait neuf ans, las d’attendre, il se tortillait constamment sur son siège. La mère espérait que son fils serait encouragé à pratiquer le piano si seulement il pouvait entendre l’immortel Paderewski au clavier. Alors, contre son gré, il était venu.

Lorsqu’elle se tourna pour parler à des amis, son fils, incapable de rester plus longtemps en place, se leva, il s’esquiva, étrangement attiré par le piano de concert Steinway en ébène et par son banc de cuir qui se trouvaient sur l’énorme scène envahie de projecteurs aveuglants. Sans que l’auditoire sophistiqué ne le remarque trop, le garçon s’assit sur le banc, les yeux écarquillés, fixant les notes noires et blanches. Il plaça ses petits doigts tremblants au bon endroit et commença à jouer maladroitement. Les clameurs de la foule cessèrent lorsque des centaines de sourcils froncés le regardèrent. Irrités et embarrassés, les gens commencèrent à crier : 'Chassez ce garçon de là ! Qui a osé emmener un garçon si jeune ici ! Où est sa mère ? Que quelqu’un l’arrête !'

Derrière la scène, le maître entendit le bruit et ne tarda pas à comprendre ce qui se passait derrière le rideau. Il saisit rapidement son manteau et se précipita sur la scène. Sans mot d’introduction aucun, il se plaça derrière le garçon, plaça ses mains de chaque côté de lui et commença à improviser une mélodie qui s’harmonisait avec le pianotage de l’enfant. Pendant qu’ils jouaient tous les deux ensemble, Paderewski ne cessait de lui chuchoter à l’oreille : Continue de jouer ! N’abandonne pas ! Continue de jouer ! N’abandonne pas ! Ne crains pas la réaction des autres, je suis là à côté de toi et t'apporte tout mon soutien. Sois donc fort, ne te décourage pas. Tes efforts seront récompensés".
