Actually going insane over the implications of Jason asking Dick to be the Robin to his Batman in Battle for the Cowl.

Like I initially took it at the purely surface-level of Jason wanting a partner in the general sense. Which made sense, it's a huge responsibility and a lonely one so an assistant/sidekick/partner seems a no-brainer if you can get one.

But then I really thought about it, because Jason is not asking Dick to be his partner in the general sense; he's not even asking Dick to be his Nightwing. He's asking Dick to be his Robin.

And they both know exactly what Jason means: "Be the light to my darkness. Be the smile to my scowl. Be the hope to my fear. "

He's saying "Be 'Robin'; be the embodiment of Love and Justice and Goodness. Be the exceptional person that you have always been. Be the slightly-less exceptional person that I was when I wore your colors. Be the person that I was in the process of becoming and might have been (or might still be), if only Joker hadn't clipped my wings."

He's saying "I am prepared to become vengeance, become the Night. And I will go further than Bruce ever dared to, because it is what is needed. I will be the necessary evil. But you don't have to be. If Batman is Gotham's curse, Robin has always been its blessing. I will be the brutal punishment to our world, and I am asking you to be its incandescent gift."

He's saying, "Be for me, what we were for Him. Be my anchor, my comfort, my hope. Remind me what it's all for, why it's all worth it. And remind yourself as well."

He's saying "Be 'Robin' again--for both of our sakes."

Day three: the biker and his date for jaydick’s week🏍

Set in secretary AU. Where Dick and Jason are meandering back to WE after a little lunch date. Unhurried as they walk down the street, all easy banter and cheeky flirtations. Playfully bumping into one another; lingering in that crowded space.

Meanwhile, Bruce and Tim are watching from way up high at the window to Bruce's office. Mirroring each other with crossed arms and matching frowns - utterly stanced up and ready to throw down because fucking Dick.

And then Dick walks Jason to the elevator where they'll part ways (because Dick has a sixth sense that danger awaits him upstairs lol). Their flirtations continue despite both of them really needing to get back to work. It's Dick leaning into the elevator as Jason brushes something from Dick's uniform, all the while badgering Dick about the pigpen. It's either of them pulling away, only to be drawn back together. Jason adjusting Dick's cuffs one more time. Dick fixing the collar of Jason's shirt, making sure it sits right over his sweater.

It's while they're in the middle of this drawn out moment that the elevator would shut. On Dick. Just bumping his shoulders and startling both of them out of their moment.

It'd be so unexpected and dumb that after the initial shock, they'd both be cackling, laughing because wow, embarrassing.

Before the elevator can try to take Dick out again, Jason would shove him back. And Dick would step back gracefully, smile soft because Jason would be flushed from laughter and his titters are probably the best thing Dick will ever hear.

A sweet smirk before the elevator door shuts and damn it all if Dick isn't left the fool. So giddy that his head is in the clouds. Oh, just Dick having this clear bounce in his step as he meanders back to the streets. Only to trip on the curb ahahaha.

Meanwhile, Jason. Who is all smitten on the trip up in the elevator. Laughter bubbles up in him unbidden at the memory of what happened, but he's a professional. Jason composes himself just in time for the elevator to open and -- "Boss?"

Bruce. And Tim. Standing menacingly at the lift. Because of course these two dorks have it timed how long it should have taken Jason to ride up. That it took so long must mean that Dick was up to shenanigans. Jason's flushed cheeks only reinforces that belief, too.

"Am I late?"

He's not, of course. Like Bruce would put any limitations on breaks for his boy. Dick, on the other hand...

Cue Bruce making a break for the stairs because he has to throw down with an interloper.

The follow up with Jason chasing after his boss to keep him from the bad publicity that would come of attacking law enforcement unprovoked, not that Jason isn't supportive, but this officer is an exception come on man. ( ｡ •̀ ᴖ •́ ｡)

JayDick week 2023 Day 2: "He doesn't know, does he?"

Jason didn’t turn to look at Donna as she sat down next to him, just kept staring at Dick smiling with Kori and Kyle. Dick’s whole chest was still wrapped in bandages and Jason caught the occasional grimace of pain that ghosted over his face before he covered it with a smile again. 

“He doesn’t know, does he?” Donna said softly. 

“Know what?” He finally dragged his gaze away to look at the Amazon. 

She gave him a knowing smile. “You were ready to abandon the whole mission just to make sure he was okay. I get that, I do, he’s my best friend, there’s not much I wouldn’t do for him. But there are some lines I’d never cross for him, and I don’t think he’d cross them for me either. But you don’t just view him as a friend, or a brother, or an ally. How long have you loved him, Jason?”

“Since I was fourteen.” Jason whispered, swallowing down the lump in his throat because he’d never actually spoken it out loud. 

Donna rested a hand on his forearm and squeezed lightly. “You should consider telling him.”

Jason scoffed. “Why? So he can throw everything I’ve ever done that doesn’t align with his moral code back in my face. Again. I’ve crossed too many of his lines and hurt one to many people he cares about, Donna. I’m well aware of where me and Dick stand, and I accepted it a long time ago.”

“Jason-”

He didn’t stick around to hear what else Donna had to say, he went and holed himself up in his room like he’d been doing since they managed to come across Dick and Kori halfway through their last mission. He thought he’d got used to being in close quarters with people after spending months with Kyle and Donna in this stupid spaceship, but apparently two extra people were enough to shatter any coping mechanisms he’d gained.

commenting on fanfics you like is so meaningful to the authors, I literally got an email notification of a comment on a fic I hadn't touched in five years and the comment made me want to revisit it so I went back and revised the existing material and wrote three new chapters and updated for the first time in forever all because someone took a few seconds to comment on the fic

No, I don't consider it incest for many reasons, based on the canon of the characters and their fluctuations in the comics, but mostly based on the fact that they don't share a bloodline 🤙✨

So, no, morally, legally, and biologically, I don't consider them brothers 💖
