Because I'm only seeing other Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven't seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our communities. We're worried, and we need people to know what's happening to us.

Fuck it I'm bored so here's a ranking of different Peter Parkers by how Jewish they are
Tumblr media
Dead last, obviously, is MCU!Peter Parker. This version of Peter is the farthest from comic canon to the point of being almost unrecognizable at times. Also, Tom Holland answered the question "is peter parker Jewish" in a Wired Autocomplete Interview a while back with a very baffled "no", cementing him forever as my sworn enemy. So he's actually the only peter parker who, at least by word of God, is canonically NOT Jewish. -1000000/10
Tumblr media
Next up is Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker. I think this Peter is... fine, at least he's much closer to comic canon than MCU!Peter, but honestly that's not saying much considering how far the MCU strayed from comic canon or even the spirit of comic canon. But like overall, Sam Raimi's movies just aren't particularly interested in presenting Peter as Jewish, so, eh. 1/10
Tumblr media
By far the most Jewish of live action Peters is TASM!Peter, also by far the most comic accurate of live action Peters. I'd be remiss not to mention the fact that Andrew Garfield is Jewish, and he understands the character so fucking well. He stated on record that he played Peter as Jewish and that he sees Spider-Man as an inherently Jewish character:
Tumblr media
However, the Webb movies still do not textually define him as Jewish, and the best parts of Andrew's Peter's Jewish subtext are better when viewed in light of the comics. Overall, 6.5/10
Tumblr media
Next up is the original, our beloved comic book Peter, pictured here saying Happy Hanukkah in a panel from Matt Fraction's Hawkeye. Comic Peter is one of the most heavily Jewish coded comics characters of all time, which is saying something considering how Jewish comic books are as a medium. Obviously he was created and often written and drawn by Jewish writers and artists, but beyond that his driving ethos and values are incredibly Jewish, and as a bonus he's constantly sprinkling Yiddish and Jewish phrases into his speech, alongside things like the above panel where he outright acknowledges Jewish culture in a scene where everyone else is saying merry Christmas. However, despite the extremely heavy coding, Marvel Comics are fucking cowards, and he has yet to be confirmed Jewish, so I must give him a measly 8/10.
Tumblr media
Finally, the cream of the crop, the most Jewish of all Peter Parkers, Into the Spider-Verse's Peter B. Parker my beloved!!! Peter B. is voiced by Jake Johnson, himself a Jewish actor, and is a phenomenally accurate representation of comic book canon - but he also has the unique quality of being canonically, textually, in the actual movie Jewish! It's a bit of a blink and you'll miss it scene, but when we get introduced to Peter B. in his "one more time" segment, we see his wedding to MJ, where he steps on a glass. This is a Jewish minhag - custom - meant to represent the destruction of our Temple and Jerusalem, as well as remind us that sorrow and joy come intertwined, and is one of my personal favorite Jewish customs. It's a phenomenal moment in the best Spider-Man movie, and while this version of Peter would have been my favorite film version regardless, his Jewishness absolutely pushes him even further up. 13/10, no complaints

Once again begging anti-theists to realize that to get to a world without religion you’d have to commit cultural genocide. So maybe you shouldn’t push for that

The fact that Judaism is trending because of both the wave of bomb threats on synagogues and Bradley Cooper's Antisemitism Adventure (his huge fake prosthetic nose, and him basically stealing the story from a Jewish man) is so infuriating and so exhaustingly typical.
The fact that I see Judaism trending on Tumblr and immediately think "oh no. Something Bad is happening to us." We're never trending cause it's fucking good. I never get to be excited, it's just cold dread.
The fact that Antisemitism is getting worse everyday and the only ones who ever talk about it are other Jews. The fact that no one else fucking cares. The only ones who support us are other Jews. Even when gentiles talk about Nazis or white supremacists they don't want to help us. We're just their prop, the canary in the coal mine and the perfect victim.
The fact that everyone's uncomfortable with Jews still being here. Reminding them of things they'd rather forget.
The fact that it'd be easier for them if we were all dead. Then they could tell stories about our people, dressed in offensive caricatures, without us making a fuss.

Just saw a post about Israelis stealing bodies and body parts and I’m here to remind you that this is a repackaged version of the Blood Libel myth.
(FYI: the blood libel myth is that Jews kidnap children and drink their blood)
This is one of the oldest antisemitic tricks in the book and it has been getting Jews killed for centuries.
Solidarity with Palestine is great. Please consider what you are spreading. Don’t get your neighbor murdered.

Something that has a mamoshes vi der goyisher got [the substance of the Christian god] can also be said to be nisht geshtoygn un nisht gefloygn, it didn't climb up and it didn't fly. Any Jew who grew up in a traditional Yiddish-speaking environment will interpret the phrase in pretty much the same way: what didn't climb or fly was Jesus, who didn't climb to heaven and who sure didn't fly there. There's a variant interpretation, according to which it's the cross that Jesus didn't climb, but this has no effect on the meaning—the climax of all four gospels, the point of the New Testament, has just been reduced to a joke, the Yiddish equivalent of “and pigs can fly.”
While the denial of Jesus's divinity would be offensive enough to Christians, its use as the gold standard of unbelievability makes it dangerous for a non-Christian minority. The very existence of such a phrase tells us most of what we need about how and why Yiddish came into being and why it was never really German. Each individual word of nisht geshtoygn un nisht gefloygn would be comprehensible to a German-speaker, but it's unlikely that the German would ever guess what it really refers to, even if he or she caught the meaning of “bullshit.” And that's the point: Yiddish started out as German for blasphemers, a German in which you could deny Christ without getting yourself killed any more than necessary. From day one, once they started to speak “German” to one another, the Jews were speaking German aftselakhis, a German to spite the Germans, a German that Germans wouldn't understand—the argot of the unredeemed. Don't think of Yiddish as a union or melding of German and Semitic elements; think of it as a horror movie. Think of Hebrew as an aristocrat with a funny accent, a mysterious old language no longer used in conversation, the linguistic equivalent of the Undead. It needs body and blood to return to spoken life, the body and blood of a living language, that can be taken over and put to use in service of the Jewish brain. It wants to take over German and then say, Hoc est mamesh corpus meum, in a parody of transubstantiation.

I am proud of being a Jew and I would never change myself but it really does get exhausting to exist in online spaces where antisemitic rhetoric is so abundant. I was joking around with my friend and the subject of Dashcon came up. I remembered that there was some footage from it so I went to go pull it up. Here’s the first result.
Tumblr media
[For anyone unable to read it, the description of the video says “Re-upload due to Jews”]
And it’s just like. I’m not going to let it ruin my night, especially considering how mild this comment is (relative to some of the others I’ve seen or had directed at me) but it’s so fucking frustrating to have this happen. To be suddenly reminded of how people regard me, regard my family, and regard all of my Jewish siblings out there in the world.

Antisemitism doesn’t just look like a Nazi salute.
Antisemitism looks like “do you really just do that because your sky daddy tells you to??” (And Sky Daddy is a Christian misunderstanding for another post).
Antisemitism looks like wanting “the hair” or “the nose” or “a nice Jewish boy” without wanting the cultures, histories, and religion that comes with it.
Antisemitism looks like “that’s just online, why are you making such a big deal about it.”

I really really REALLY don't want to be the antisemitism mutual again bc y'all do not know how much damage that did to my mental health. But the fact that goyim only ever mention the antisemitism in what is literally blood libel: the game as an afterthought, sometimes not even expressing it by name, and instead focusing on the trans issue - I'm saying this as a trans Jew: fucking stop it. Even if not one single penny ended up in jkr's hands bc of this game it would still be extremely harmful. Stop saying "even ignoring the game's moral problems" or "not even mentioning the antisemitism". MENTION THE ANTISEMITISM. This is a game teaching fascist ideals to PRETEENS. It is teaching them that Jewish caricatures deserve to DIE for the crime of wanting their cultural artifacts back, it is teaching them that Jewish caricatures wanting to no longer be oppressed is equal to murdering "wizards" (aka white goyim) (while the main character literally discovers they're pure bloods...) and kidnapping children - THE OLDEST FORM OF BLOOD LIBEL. Jewish lives MATTER. I'm saying this as a trans Jew, but cishet, able bodied, white, neurotypical Jews also deserve to be safe. We all deserve to be able to exist as Jews without being targeted. Antisemitic hate crimes has been on the rise by hundreds of percentages worldwide, especially in the US and Europe. Stop treating us as afterthoughts.

I love being a Jew I love being Jewish I love being a queer Jew and all my queer jewish friends and all the Jews who are allies to queer Jews I love having people who understand the complexities of it all. No antisemite right wing or left wing can make me hate being a Jew.
My tribe is beautiful and full of complex Jews living all different lives some like mine some not. I would die before I stopped being a Jew (not that I truthfully ever could but if Jew know Jew know lol). I am a survivor from a long list of survivors and a scholar from a long list of scholars.
No anti Zionist who chooses to put me on some list to blast to the world because I don’t fully align with their black and white thinking and no Nazi can make me hate my Jewish life. We will outlive them!
