Soooo.... coming out of my hybernation just to drop this here. Something I've been sitting on for years, LITERAL years, with this one up here being like, the third iteration of this idea: a James Bond/Spy thriller/ Mr. & Mrs. Smith type cover for my FAVOURITE Star Trek fic... which is NOT tagged as slash (tho' it kind of could be read as that, I think, I mean, the undertones are definitely there so *shrugs*), NOT finished and NOT going to be finished but BUT, here me out, guys, has humor, action, bratty/spoiled/passive-aggressive Spock, idiot bad-boy Jim, cunty/smarmy/bad-ass Pike, Gaila an Uhura besties shenanigans, grumpy Bones, going undercover to dismantle an inhuman slave ring, Spock taking """escort""" lessons on the Federation dime and a deliciously frustrated Kirk. Everything a girl could ask for, really!

Fic is called L/A/S by rageprufrock on AO3 and is quite an old one, the Archive one is a repost, I think, and the original one was posted on dreamwidth.

Would like to draw some more stuff for this fanfic, I already have quite a few folders with some storyboard for my fav scenes mapped out but... we'll see.

I wrote this for Mcspirk Month 2024 Day 15: Fake Dating. The event is being hosted on @mcspirkevents.

Summary:

McCoy, Kirk, Nyota, and Scotty are sent to a cafe on a stake out mission. Where the four break off in pairs and pretend to be couples enjoying a nice lunch out. Though Nyota can hear Spock bickering with the other two through their ear pieces, from two tables over.

Preview of the story:

“Hah!” McCoy leans further over the table, closer to Jim. “I’d might be worried if this was a first date.”

“Who says it’s not?”

“Captain, Doctor, the mission requires your full attention.”

McCoy leans back in his chair. “Yeah we know.” Forgoing all discretion he throws his arm over the chair and turns towards Scotty and Uhura’s table. Spock would not at all be pleased. “Even Spock wouldn’t be that awkward.

Jim tilts his head and smirks. “Shall we test that hypothesis the next time we need an undercover couple?”

“Please remember to remain focused on the task at hand. We must stop Major Constance from meeting with their associates.”

McCoy rolls his eyes as Jim watches. The same dopey smile on his face that he always gets when they’re on the bridge. Chittering away.

“Look at them.” Uhura gestures casually with her daiquiri glass, as if she were talking with her hands for emphasis, rather than gesturing towards their friends. Doctor McCoy was chittering away. Captain Kirk was preoccupied by trying his best not to laugh. Even from this distance, her keen ears could make out the somber tones of Spock’s voice. She couldn’t quite make out what he’s saying, but every tone  “Chatting away as if this were just another day.”

“To be fair, we’ve had our fair share of weirder missions.” Scotty moves to sit a little straighter. Uhura didn’t even think that was possible. Somehow the chief engineer manages. “I don’t know how they do it.”

Silly McSpirk Story Idea: When The Ship Sails

Inspired by the story of two best friends who pretended to be a gay couple to win booze on a cruise ship. Plot under the cut.

The planet Klobour is rich in dilithium, and populated by a species with roughly 21st century level technology. As a pre-warp civilization, they are protected by the Prime Directive.

The Klingons do not care. Their plan is to slaughter the planet's Prime Minister, take over the government, and mine the hell out of that dilithium. They see their chance when said Prime Minister boards a luxury cruise ship.

Kirk, Spock, and McCoy must go undercover on that cruise ship. Chapel modifies their appearance, Uhura hacks some Klobour computers to give their men tickets, and they go and replicate both appropriate attire and a limited quantity of cash currency.

McCoy: "Well, if we're gonna blend in, we're gonna need extra cash for tipping, and for their over-priced alcohol."

Spock: "Doctor, the quantity of alcohol you undoubtedly wish to drink would necessitate replicating a quantity of currency that would almost certainly attract the attention of the constabulary."

The cruise ship is snooze central. It's mostly loud old rich people and families with whiny kids.

Jim's fine. He thinks the kids are cute. He flirts with a bunch of older people just to make them feel good about themselves. He goes swimming in a speedo. Somehow, after three hours, he's friends with the ship's Captain.

Spock is caught in the hell which is watching Jim go around half naked, flirting with people who are not Spock. He vents his frustration by making pedantic commentary to McCoy.

Bones wants to McFuckin' DIE. Jim's got that thing for the diving board and surely he's gonna bust his fool-head open, and they can't even use modern medical tools. Kids won't stop running around and screaming and whining. Spock won't shut up. And because they only have a small amount of cash, he can't really afford alcohol.

McCoy: "YOU did this to me, you damn green-blooded miscreant."

Spock: "I fail to see how I am responsible for the socio-political circumstances that necessitated our presence here."

McCoy: "Damnit, I told you we needed more money! I can't even afford a french fry here, let alone a mixed drink."

Jim: *getting between them and slapping them both on the shoulders* "Hey, you know, there's a newlywed contest. The prize is unlimited free food and drink. You two certainly argue enough to be a married couple."

And Jim is joking. Teasing.

Spock: "Undoubtedly, Captain. Securing additional food and drink for Doctor McCoy would doubtless improve his mood, and make the mission easier."

McCoy: "There is no way you could pull off pretending to be my husband."

Spock: *raising an eyebrow in defiance*

The game show is pretty standard. You have to answer correctly about the other person's personality, preferences, and favorites. They win because Jim has never, since they've known him, been able to restrain himself from gushing about each of them to the other.

McCoy tries to make Spock uncomfortable by laying the flirtation on really thick.

Spock's not uncomfortable. He's actually secretly touched that McCoy knows his favorite tea blend, his favorite book, his favorite poet, his favorite scientists, the name of his childhood pet, all of his hobbies. Spock remembers everything he heard because he's Vulcan. McCoy must remember because he cares.

Then, they win. As a bonus surprise, they are upgraded to the honeymoon suite. They must now, for the remainder of the cruise, sleep in a singular gigantic bed.

What they don't know is that they were recorded, and broadcast on loop to the entire crew, making them ship-wide celebrities.

They're asked to kiss every time they enter a common area. And they kinda have to do it. McCoy internally detonates at the realization that he likes kissing Spock, later yelling at him: "You didn't have to make it so convincing!"

Spock, a touch telepath, merely gloats.

Jim feels some kind of way about seeing his besties kiss each other.

But also, the secret Klingon operative on the ship now knows that McCoy and Spock are definitely on board! Romantic antics, pining, and angst are interrupted by Klingons trying to kill them and sink the ship.

The story ends with Jim confessing his affections for both of his friends. Spock announces that the only logical solution is a poly triad.

this pertains to my portrayal of James T. Kirk in the marvel universe ! note that i am more than happy to plot or discuss further details as well as incorporate events that are canon to your muses regardless of what verse they are in, mcu or 616 or both ! i'm quite flexible with plotting. plus i love coming up with personalized AU's. instead of writing out Jim's entire life story, i will provide some bullet points / facts. this post will be a LIVE DOCUMENT that i will come back to and update, later on reblog as necessary when there are updates.

The events of Star Trek (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek Beyond (2016) are going to be absorbed into the MCU timeline directly. Star Trek (2009) roughly takes place around after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) takes place around the events of Captain America : Civil War, and Star Trek Beyond (2016) will take place before Avengers: Infinity War.

Now that we know where the movies fall on the timeline, i'll make the rest of this post as separated as possible so that it can be easily read. if there's any detail that's modified will be here.

Jim is still a farm boy from Iowa, however he has a big brother by the name of George Jr. who becomes a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and is killed during the events of Captain America : Winter Soldier. there's a partial guilt that he feels because Jim had begged his brother not to leave him and go to New York, so there's a subconscious part of himself that regrets not asking him to stay hard enough. that perhaps if he did, he'd be alive today.

his father still dies saving hundreds of people and ultimately saving Winona and Jim's life in the process.

above point adds to Kirk's reluctance in joining Starfleet — a direct subcategory of S.W.O.R.D. however Captain Pike still finds him, and still manages to convince him to join the force, reminding him of his father's achievements as an Air Force pilot.

he prefers S.W.O.R.D. to S.H.I.E.L.D. because of what happens to his brother. it takes him many years before he truly decides to believe in the cause he's serving. he won't work at S.H.I.E.LD. unless absolutely necessary.

Jim's mother, Winona, is mostly absent in Jim's life partly due to her being a single mother having to provide for her kids, but later the reason ends up being her efforts to establish S.W.O.R.D. so she's off world very frequently. she works in the Air Force until she starts focusing on this.

in this verse, Khan is a genetically engineered Kree. races such as Klingons, Romulans, etc. are simply absorbed into the marvel universe without any changes.

during Infinity War, the majority of U.S.S. Enterprise dies in the snap, leaving Jim mostly by himself for those five dark years. he refuses to be tied to any organization besides S.W.O.R.D. however agrees to help Captain Marvel in various off-world missions, mainly serving as a pilot, or as an undercover agent to gather intel. after the events of Endgame, Jim is united with his crew once more and is out in deep space more as explorers, peacekeepers, and eventually, Jim becomes the representative of Earth in the galactic council. he also establishes relations with the Guardians of the Galaxy and Knowhere becomes a frequent "starbase" for the Enterpise.

anyway i'm gonna add more to this in the next few days as i complete my yet another rewatch of the movies but have this for now !

The character I’m most like: now. Uhm. literally fighting one million years with myself to determine kirk or spock and i never fully decided so we will leave it at they are two sides of the same coin and that coin is MEEEE ^_^. tng is hard to say bc i love them all but none of them ever grabbed me by the throat and shoved me into a mirror like so many other shows have done. i think either data geordi or picard (minus his leadership skills) would be the closest fit for me. and well as those who were here for biquark url know. 😏🤭

“The Homosexuals” is an episode of CBS Reports that was aired on March 7th, 1967.   I’m currently using it as a source for a research paper, but once I noticed it was filmed at the same time as Star Trek I took a step back to reexamine the significance of many scenes in the series.  (For reference, “Amok Time'' was aired on September 15th, 1967.) I wanted to discuss the documentary here because I feel that it provides important context for the environment in which the show was made.  It demonstrates the horrifying extent of anti-gay discrimination in the late sixties, and makes the parallels between Spock’s character development and the gay experience even more clear.  

I created a compilation of moments from both “The Homosexuals” and Star Trek, hopefully to illustrate exactly why Spock’s story has resonated with so many gay people.  Please be warned that the report is very painful to watch due to the way it treats the subject of homosexuality, so proceed with caution if that upsets you.

SPOCK: I'd hoped I would be spared this, but the ancient drives are too strong. Eventually, they catch up with us, and we are driven by forces we cannot control to return home and take a wife... Or die.

NARRATOR: This man is different from many we have seen ‘till now. For he, along with tens of thousands of his brothers, is married.

INTERVIEWER: Why did you get married in the first place? MAN: I think it was this uh… really this being frightened into heterosexuality. I was terribly frightened of the homosexual feelings, the guilt associated with having feelings of attraction for other males.

SPOCK: Jim, when I feel friendship for you, I am ashamed.

NARRATOR: The next day, the paper ran an editorial entitled “Crush the Monster,” crush homosexuality. The yearlong investigation that followed shook Boise to its foundation.  When it was over, fifteen months later, one homosexual was in a state penitentiary with a life sentence...

MCCOY: Do you know why you're not afraid to die, Spock? You're more afraid of living. Each day you stay alive is just one more day you might slip and let your human half peek out.

MAN: I can’t continue to keep this thing undercover.

MCCOY: Why, you wouldn't know what to do with a genuine, warm, decent feeling. 

PSYCHIATRIST: The fact that somebody is homosexual, a true, obligatory homosexual, automatically rules out the possibility that he will remain happy for long… Homosexuality is in fact a mental illness, which has reached epidemiological proportions. 

KIRK: I’ve got it, the disease… love. You’re better off without it and I’m better off without mine.

MAN: I know that inside now I am sick.  I am not sick just sexually, I am sick in a lot of ways.

KIRK: Spock… (that funky music that goes off when Spock is having a sexuality crisis plays)

REPORTER: Most Americans are repelled by the mere notion of homosexuality.  The CBS News survey shows that two out of three Americans look upon homosexuals with disgust, discomfort, or fear.  One out of ten says hatred.

SPOCK: An earth woman living on a planet where love, emotion, it’s bad taste.

I respected my father, our customs. I was ashamed of my earth blood!

NARRATOR: The homosexual, forced to live between two worlds, strikes back at an antagonistic society.

SPOCK: Understand, Jim? I’ve spent a whole lifetime, learning to hide my feelings.

REPORTER: The homosexual, bitterly aware of his rejection, responds by going underground. They frequent their own clubs and bars and coffee houses where they can escape the disapproving eye of the society that they call straight.

SPOCK: (singing) He loves in the breathless excitement of night, then leaves with your treasure in cold morning light.                                                

CROWD: (laughing, jeering) Careful Mr. Spock, too much love is dangerous. Remember, Cupid’s arrow kills Vulcan.

NARRATOR: The dilemma of the homosexual. Told by the medical profession he is sick. By the law, he is a criminal. Shunned by employers, rejected by heterosexual society. Incapable of a fulfilling relationship with a woman, or for that matter, a man.

CHAPEL: I love you.                                                  SPOCK: I’m sorry… I am sorry.

MAN: I personally don’t believe in a love relationship with another man. I think this is a part of the gay folklore, something they try to obtain but never obtain it.

MCCOY: Because you’ll never know the things that love can drive a man to. The ecstasies, the miseries. The broken rules, the desperate chances. The glorious failures, the glorious victories.  All of these things you’ll never know, simply because the word “love” isn’t written into your book.

NARRATOR: At the center of his life, he remains anonymous. A displaced person. An outsider.

Featuring Quark forming a genuine friendship with Nerys bc they're the only people who were really close to Odo and fully understand how fucked up this is to deal with emotionally. Featuring Leeta punching Odo and telling him to stay away from her family

Rejoined... 2! Since ds9 has the distinction of both being next to a stable wormhole and being the last place in the Alpha Quadrant Voyager was seen, when Starfleet commissions the Trill Science Ministry to look into ways to use a stable wormhole to bring Voyager home, Lenara and her team relocate permanently to ds9. We have a parallel where Kira and Ezri have the same conversation Benjamin and Jadzia had warning about Lenara coming. May or may not end with them getting together, but definitely at least featurs Ezri realizing she's a lesbian

Aos!Kirk/Spock/Uhura get together. Takes place after Beyond while Spock and Uhura are still broken up; they talk about why they broke up, speak frankly about their feelings, and decide together to ask Jim into the relationship

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Sometimes, sometimes not. I think if you look back at my oldest fics I was a lot more responsive in the comments since I was used to always responding when people commented on Livejournal/Dreamwidth. But I am perpetually embarrassed by the things a younger version of me said and did on the internet which is, I think, why I fell out of the habit. I’m trying to get back into it tho.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Uhh.... it’s gotta be either What Is One More? or Undercover (both Transformers fics, and honestly I will thank you not to click those links because I am, like I said, perpetually embarrassed by things a younger version of me said or did on the internet.) Why did I even write these. There’s major character death in both of them.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

I don’t know, make it soft maybe? I’d like to say this shot's on me for the planned ending but I feel like it’s coloured a shade darker by being an Academy fic. We all know what happens next.

Do you write crossovers? If yes, what’s the craziest thing you’ve written?

I never have, no. Theoretically there’s no good reason why Star Trek and Transformers shouldn’t cross over (I mean they’ve done it in canon soooo...) but the closest I’ve come to writing crossover fic myself is heavily considering a Temeraire AU with Jim Kirk as captain of the dragon Enterprise.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

One time some asshole wrote a longform essay tearing apart everything they didn’t like about an original fic I was publishing on FictionPress when I was 17. Never any rude comments or etc. on fanfic tho, to my recollection.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Occasionally, yeah. I don’t even know how to answer the second question lmao like... idk? the smutty kind? I’ve done soft and sensual vanilla, wild kink for the sake of it, and everything in between.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yeah my fondest memory of Transformers fandom is that time I wrote a cute little oneshot for a friend and two years later some fucker liked the concept behind it well enough to write a 40 part series currently sitting at over 375,000 words. Which would be cool if they hadn’t plagiarized my author’s note explaining the setting word-for-word, or if they’d ever communicated to me their interest in using my setting, or if at the very least they’d given me some form of credit for it by, I don’t know, linking to the fic I wrote that they took their inspiration from? I recognize that it’s petty to still be mad about this when the fic I wrote was all of 625 words but listen... it’s the principle of the thing. It was my idea.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I don’t think so, no. That seems like something I would remember.

Have you ever co-written a fic?

When we were in high school my best friend and I wrote the beginning of a fic titled The Moustache of Optimus Prime that was basically just an inside joke about one of our band teachers. It was a lot of fun but we never really got far on it and, aside from years and years of roleplaying experience, my only real foray into co-writing.

What’s your all time favorite ship?

Uhhh. God. It’s... it’s probably Ratchet/Megatron. Judge me all you want but this ship haunts me. I’ve never even written anything for it and yet the way I can never stop thinking about it prolonged my stay in the Transformers fandom by years.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but you don’t think you ever will?

Idk, nothing that I’ve ever posted. Any of my Transformers WIPs I’m sorry to say I have no interest in finishing, and the only Star Trek WIP I currently have up on AO3 I fully intend to complete.

What’re your writing strengths?

Dialogue and characterization.

What’re your writing weaknesses?

Plot, and also having any idea what any of the spaces the characters I’m writing are occupying. Listen, I don’t know, it’s a room or something, you figure it out.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?

I’ve seen it done really well, and I think it can be a useful writing tool. I’ve made an occasional attempt at it myself but I don’t think anything I’ve written that way has ever made it into a final draft.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

The first fandom I wrote for on purpose was Harry Potter. The first fandom I wrote for at all was Aladdin: The Animated Series. I was in kindergarten and I will take no criticisms. And no, I don’t still have it.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Probably Taking Care. Something about the soft melancholy of it still gets me. It is absolutely tragic that the art I wrote it to go with isn’t around anymore.
