Fic Writer Review
Tagged by @mira--mira. Thank you for the tag! 😄 That WIP thing you tagged me months ago still haunts me and I promise I will get to it some day.
1. How many fics on AO3?
19
2. Total AO3 wordcount?
91,058
....when did this happen. 😂
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Naruto (10)
Harry Potter (5)
Hetalia (4)
+Bleach and Detective Conan on ff.net.
HP & Hetalia are from, like, 7-8 years back and earlier though.
4. Top Five by Kudos?
c'mon and get your kicks - SNS superhero AU ft. Sasuke's socially inept flirting and one of my favourite tropes - identity porn. Hand-written, typed and edited in a 10-hour daze.
Chameleon White - HSMD canon-divergent, time-travel fixit (sort of). Not sure why so many people read it, but I'm glad that it brought the readers some joy.
Of Monsters and Sleep - DenNor, Hetalia, written in 2013. Can only vaguely recollect the contents.
Simmer Down and Pucker Up - SNS spy AU ft. explosions, nipples, zombies and accidental honeypots. Marked my return to fanfic writing after a 7-year break.
For My Dreams (and a Pocketful of Gold) - Wolfstar superhero AU, written for R/S Small Gifts.
5. Do you respond to comments, why/why not?
I do if it's criticism, or if people have questions that won't be answered later on in the fic.
Otherwise, I don't. As much as I like praise and appreciation, it embarrasses me - both online and offline - and I never know how to react like a normal person since I wasn't socialised properly as a kid. I prefer to blush furiously in the safety of my room.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
There's a Naruto (SasuHina) fic I'd written back in high school. The angst is exactly as melodramatic and cringy as you'd expect coming from a 15 y.o. who's learning how to process their emotions. Otherwise, Chameleon White I guess? Not angsty per se, just a little sad.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Nope. Can't go through the mental gymnastics of making characters from different universes react, haha. But I like fics where the cast of series A lives in and follows the same rules as the universe of series B.
There's an SNS JJBA AU I fiddle with sometimes, titled Sasuke's Bizarre Adventure. It's basically a retelling of Stardust Crusaders, with Hashimada playing the role of Joseph (the weird and dramatic grandfathers), Orochimaru as Dio (thirsty for that Uchiha blood) and Itachi (parallel to Jonathan's body that Dio...commandeered) who Sasuke and co. set out to rescue.
8. Have you received hate on a fic?
Not on anything after I picked up writing again. People here are really kind! I did receive some hate on a Bleach fic on ff.net that I'd written in 2011/12, but I came across that comment 8 years after it was posted, so it was kinda funny. They were viciously sore about how the 2 characters did not end up together. Which is not really my problem because I never hinted at a romance??? Idk man, it confused me.
9. Do you write smut?
Writing smut is embarrassing, sorry. It's like eating food I made myself, as opposed to consuming food that someone else has made for you with quality ingredients, impeccable hygiene and passion.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope.
11. Ever had a fic translated?
Haha, nope.
12. Ever co-written a fic before?
*looks at my million WIPs* I have commitment issues.
13. All time favorite ship?
Well, wolfstar (Remus/Sirius from HP) is a ship that's endured for literal years. I'm a big fan of the best-friends-to-tragedies (with a healthy dose of betrayal) trope. Really goes through the full emotion spectrum. Which is why I like Hashimada and SNS too.
14. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
Ahiṃsā, an Itachi & Sasuke-centric fic where after the massacre, Itachi runs away with Sasuke instead of running away to Akatsuki. It was going to based on some of the virtues of Hinduism & some other religions which developed in the same part of the world. Edo-tensei Madara would have made an appearance, and it would have been a fic about peace and brotherhood and family and the ties to your birthplace...but yeah. 😅
15. What are your writing strengths?
Conciseness (I say on the longest post I've ever made on this website).
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Also conciseness. I would love for my writing to be more descriptive, where I set up the ambience and emotions but it's really hard for me. If I try it, I end up hating it.
Also prepositions. Is it sitting in a chair or on a chair. Stuff like this just fucks me up.
17. What are your thoughts of writing dialogue in other languages?
Not a fan. Some commonly used terms are fine - like common jutsu names etc, but otherwise, it breaks the flow. I get that if you're reading a fic from a character's POV, the general practice is to write in another language if that character is as clueless as you, but I don't like it. I'd prefer if people wrote "kommaut alle woo" (pardon my French) instead of "comment allez-vous" so that I read it in the same way the character hears it, but that's just me haha. Writing stuff in different languages/scripts is fine if the character is reading text they don't understand.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Bleach or Detective Conan. I'm too scared to go to my ff.net and find out.
19. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
I have a very hands-off approach with my fics. Once it's written, it's gone. I love the comments and kudos and bookmarks and feedback, but otherwise, it's not my problem. The author is dead, time to play with the next one. But the SNS spy AU kept me occupied the longest and gave me the freedom to write some really random shit, so. :')
......
I think most people I know here who write have already been tagged, but @libby-failedsage if you're up for it and haven't done it already - and anyone else who wants to!

The summer of ’99. A hot summer in the small town of Morioh. A good place to spend the day was at Morioh beach; a flawless tourist spot with hot sand, soothing waves, laughter and ice cream for anyone in need of a cool refresher. However, it seemed that flawlessness was coming to an end lately, with reportings of bizarre accidents involving swimmers and surfers...
One of the beaches’ common visitors were Jotaro Kujo. Not primarily for the ice cream and water, but rather for reading the newspaper and secretly meeting up with agents from the Speedwagon Foundation. Jotaro had just had one of these undercover meetings with an agent sitting on the other side of the bench giving information about the serial killer Kira Yoshikage. However, the trail was currently very cold and Jotaro had not been given any useful information. But Jotaro was confident he would track down Kira with the help of his Morioh friends; Josuke, Koichi, Okuyasu and Rohan and in the worst case even his gramps Joseph. He had faced off with many strong adversaries before, although it was many years since he had defeated the strongest one of them all; Dio. But Kira was not the only adversary Jotaro currently was facing. No, there was another one, even more powerful than he had imagined: finding a subject for his doctoral thesis in marine biology! Despite being in Morioh, a wonderful seaside town, he was at a total block on what to write about, and he had only a few months left before the next semester started and he was to present the first draft of his thesis. Although being a delinquent in high school, Jotaro now was an A-grade student and aced all his tests and assignments. He had grown a lot of pride in his studies and he wanted to give it his best. He wouldn’t settle for just any subject to write about – he wanted to find the best subject to write about, something to bring out his true potential as a soon-to-be marine biologist. So he spent as much time as he could near the harbour or the beach, in hopes of finding inspiration.
Inspiration, however, would not come easily. As a way to pass time, Jotaro read through the daily newspaper to keep up with happenings in Morioh. A headline in the paper caught his eyes; “Third accident this week in Moriohs waters”. Recently, Jotaro had not had much time to spend at the beach or harbour and felt he had to catch up on recent events and started reading: “Following the two latest incidents in the waters around Morioh beach, a third has happened. Unlike the previous two swimmers, who are currently in a bad condition at the hospital and unconscious, this surfer managed to overcome what seems like an unlikely happening! Kenji O'Hara, 32, claims to have seen a mermaid in one of the waves during surfing. He went around for another pass with the waves, to try and spot the so-called mermaid again, only to slightly spot her and then crash into some sudden violent waves. Although startled, he was able to quickly get back to the beach with his surfing board, getting away with a few bruises and cuts on his legs. “Man, that was totally bizarre, but I swear I saw a mermaid in the waves, the second time it felt like she reached for me! Maybe she wanted to make me her merman!” states clearly delirious O'Hara.”
Mermaids are not a real thing, Jotaro was sure of that, but it was indeed bizarre and his gut feeling told him there might be more to this than what was on the surface. Perhaps something lurked deep down in these accidents. He decided to dig, or rather dive, a little bit further into this. Jotaro took out his cell phone and dialled a number. “Hey. This is Jotaro. I need a favour… meet me at the hospital in an hour,” Jotaro hung up and rose from the bench he sat on. There were potentially two more witnesses to this so-called mermaid and Jotaro could not wait to get more information.
For starters, his sense of justice told him something was wrong and had to be righted. And besides that, although his big doubts, if there truly is a mermaid at Morioh beach… then he had the perfect subject for his thesis.
Exactly one hour later, Jotaro stood in front of Morioh hospital, he was wearing one of his favourite outfits: a pink long-sleeved shirt under his white coat, which today was ornated with gold coloured decorations of two kissing dolphins shaping a heart and a pointy triangle with the letter J. His white hat also had gold coloured ornaments, of a single dolphin and a sun. Jotaro rarely wore those as he treasured them a lot, being gifts from his seven-year-old daughter Jolyne who made them in art class. He was, of course, also wearing white pants. What would this visit at the hospital give him? Would it shed some light on this mermaid sighting? Soon enough, he would know. Jotaro pondered this, standing in the shadow of the entrance roof, enjoying a slight breeze, for about fifteen minutes until his nephew Josuke showed up, wearing his usual dark blue school uniform. Jotaro often wondered if Josuke even owned anything else than that, he always wore it, even on weekends, and Jotaro felt it made him look like some sort of cartoon character. At least he himself modified his stylish white outfit with different coloured shirts and various ornament; that was how adult life just was, succumbing to the importance of looking good and keeping up with the latest fashion trends. “Ooii Jotaro-san!” Josuke shouted as he walked up to him waving his hand, “What's up? A lead on the Kira case?” he asked curiously with a bit of seriousity glowing in his eyes. Jotaro shook his head, “Unfortunately, this is unrelated. There have been accidents at the beach waters. I’ve decided to investigate what is causing them. Two of the victims are at the hospital, injured and unconscious” Josuke gave him another serious look, “… could this be another Stand user?” “It’s too early to make any guesses. It’s more likely dangerous wildlife. Remember, Stand users are drawn to other Stand users, which I doubt these victims are. Besides that, if they are not Stand users, then they should not be able to see a Stand, but this Kenji-guy claim to have seen a mermaid...” Jotaro shrugged off the possibility and went into the hospital doors, entering the calm and sterile white room, only a few people sitting there, some talked with a police officer, perhaps family to one of the victims of the recent happenings at the beach?
After a quick request at the reception, they got the room numbers for the injured swimmers. They went upstairs to the first room, where Josuke healed the first injured surfer with his Crazy Diamonds ability. However, the swimmer had not seen any mermaid and had suddenly blacked out in pain when swimming. Jotaro got no information at all and felt quite disappointed, the duo then went for the next room, further away in the corridor. “Seriously Jotaro-san, a mermaid? Those do not exist. This Kenji-guy must have hit his head too hard against the waves or something,” Josuke said jestingly, gesturing with his arms. Jotaro did not answer, just silently walking onward. Shortly they arrived at the next room, where an unconscious woman lied in a bed. “Let’s heal her and wake her up, Josuke”, Jotaro said as he approached the woman and nodded towards her. “Yeah. Crazy Diamond!” Josuke called out, summoning his pink and light blue stand, proceeding to heal the woman with a soft touch and then wake her up. Jotaro briefly explained that they were investigating the accidents at the beach, and asked the woman about what happened to her out at sea. “I was out swimming and making light dives into the water when suddenly I saw a beautiful woman swimming a few meters away from me under the water! She was truly stunning, aah…” the woman said, clearly mesmerized about the thought of the woman she saw. “What happened then? Did you notice anything strange?” Jotaro pursued. “Well, she was so beautiful, I almost thought she was a mermaid! I never saw anyone else besides me up at the water’s surface, I only saw her under the water… that was kind of strange, now that I think about it. Haha sorry, my mind is still a bit cloggy after just waking up!” she laughed and scratched her head. Another witness! Jotaro thought and tried to pry deeper, “Do you remember anything else?” The woman silently thought for a bit, “No, when I tried approaching her, she disappeared, and then I felt a hard hit in my back and lost consciousness…” “Okay, thank you for your time,” Jotaro said and started to make his way out. “No, thank you, kind doctors, for making me better so fast!” she replied happily and waved her hand. Josuke waved back at her on the way out and walked up to Jotaro, “Huh, mermaids?? Again? What’s this all about!” “I do not know, that’s what I’m trying to find out, but something is strange about this,” Jotaro said as they walked down the stairs to the main floor, “I’m heading back to the hotel. Thanks for the help, I owe you one. Later.” The nephews parted ways and Jotaro called a cab to get to the hotel. A mermaid? Could that really be it? But what caused the accidents to happen? Even if there was a mermaid, that did not solve the mystery behind people getting injured. There were no sharp rocks in the area around Morioh beach, so the cause had to be something else. Jotaro was determined to find out what.
CHAPTER 1, END.
Thanks for reading!

Head Over Feet
My secret santa fic! For @anime-imagines-galore. Here’s some sweet giomis.
@jjba-secret-santa
“You guys can keep a secret, right?”
The Pistols stared back at Mista with their best approximations of innocence, and he sighed. “Okay,” Mista said. “If you tell, no food for a week.”
“No fair!” No.5 whined. “We’ll starve!” The rest erupted into a chorus of similar complaints and theatrical crying and why couldn’t Mista just have a normal Stand, one that didn’t talk back?
“Shut it!” No.1 screeched, loud enough to drown out the others and leave Mista’s ears ringing. “I wanna hear the secret!” One by one, the Pistols quieted down, looking up at Mista expectantly.
Mista swallowed hard. His mouth was dry all of a sudden, and he was probably blushing again. Fucking emotions. “You promise not to tell?”
All of the Pistols nodded, suddenly the pictures of honesty. Bullshit. The little shits may technically also be Mista, but they’d sell him out for half a slice of salami, no question. But he needed help, and there wasn’t really anyone else he could talk to. Not if he wanted to keep it a secret. Turns out there were downsides to only having gangsters for friends.
“Fine. I’m taking Giorno on a date.”
It was pandemonium. Mista hadn’t asked for this. Stands were supposed to be helpful, like a ghost buddy or a Pokémon or something. Not annoying little fucks who spent half the time yelling and the other half sleeping. But at least they seemed happy with the development, even if the celebrations were a bit much.
No.7 tried his best to shake Mista’s hand. “Fucking finally! When are you two gonna get hitched already?”
Mista was definitely blushing now. “Shut up! It’s just a date!”
No.6 rolled his eyes. “Puh-lease! Just a date?”
“Yeah!” No.3 chimed in, unhelpfully. “You’re crazy about him!”
“It’s like ‘Giorno, please! Please fuck me!’” No.2 collapsed in an exaggerated swoon into No.1’s arms, fanning himself with his hand like a lady in an old movie.
“That’s you,” No.5 added, just in case Mista hadn’t gotten the message.
Could he kill his own Stand? It would probably kill him as well, but at this point that sounded like a relief.
The worst part was, they weren’t entirely wrong. Mista had certainly had… thoughts about Giorno. Entirely inappropriate thoughts to have about his boss, but that hadn’t stopped his stupid brain shoving them in his face. Giorno was just too damn pretty. And smart. And confident and beautiful and determined and maybe the Pistols did have a point after all. Mista definitely had a thing for Giorno. And it should have just stayed a mysterious, undefined ‘thing’, but someone up there had it out for Mista.
Giorno was a strange boss to work for. Mista was supposed to be his bodyguard, but this was Giorno they were talking about, he didn’t need a bodyguard. People didn’t fuck with Giorno, at least not more than once. So Mista’s job was more like moral support. Not like Giorno really needed that either, but he seemed to enjoy it anyway.
And every so often, he would make some comment about being free over the weekend or wanting to see a new movie or did Mista know that the flowers were blooming in the plaza, maybe they should take a walk sometime, just the two of them. But Mista couldn’t proposition his boss, men got murdered for much less, and anyway he wasn’t good enough for Giorno.
Mista had hooked up with girls miles out of his league before, but Giorno was on a whole other planet. Everything about him shone, like the stained glass windows of a cathedral, all colors and sharp, defined shapes. And if Giorno was a beautiful picture of some holy thing, Mista was the floor. Useful, but made to be that way and not much more. Giorno deserved someone as perfect as he was, not just regular old Mista.
But yesterday Giorno had looked him straight in the eyes and said, “You’re taking me out tomorrow night,” like that was a thing people did, just asked someone on a date out of nowhere. No, not even on a date. Giorno had asked Mista to ask him on a date, which was a total Giorno move. And like most Giorno moves, it didn’t really make sense but happened anyway. So now Mista was taking Giorno out on a date.
The Pistols were having a great time, just laughing up a storm, the little fucks, and Mista was no closer to a solution. So as the laughter finally died down, he gave them a serious look. “C’mon, guys. I need your help.”
That got their attention, and they all hastily stood at attention, like they hadn’t just been mocking him a second ago.
Mista sighed. “I don’t know where to take him.” Sure, he’d been on dates before, but Giorno was something special. He wasn’t just some girl Mista wanted to fuck. The regular stuff wouldn’t do. “Any ideas?”
Turns out that was a mistake.
“The movies!” No.7 yelled.
“Yeah!” No.3 added. “Go see some romantic shit! Get him in the mood!”
“No!” No.1 screeched. “The beach! Swimsuits!”
“A carnival!” No.2 offered.
“A restaurant!” No.6 hopped in place, waving his arms. “A really fancy one! Giorno likes fancy shit!”
The suggestions devolved into a mess of sound, and in the middle of it all there was No.5, quietly raising his hand like this mess was a really annoying classroom.
“No.5,” Mista said, raising his voice just enough to be heard over the others. They got the message, and grumbled into silence. “Do you have an idea?”
No.5 stared at his feet. “Don’t take him anywhere. Just hang out together in your apartment. You know, keep it real casual.”
“Okay, that has potential.” Mista wasn’t going to impress Giorno with a fancy meal or a carnival. There were very few things that could impress the Boss of Passione. But a quiet evening at home sounded… pleasant. Like something he couldn’t fuck up too much.
Maybe this wasn’t going to be so bad.
Six o’clock. Mista had said six o’clock, and Giorno was never late. And that meant he had four minutes left, because of course it was four.
His apartment wasn’t much, comfortable enough for one person but not anything impressive. Mista liked it that way. He didn’t spend much time at home anyway, so a smaller space suited him.
Mista had tried his best to clean up, but it hadn’t done much good. He was naturally a bit messy, and that was only amplified by the fact that he hadn’t bothered to put his stuff away for like a year. Came with living alone, along with plenty of leftovers and the ability to be naked whenever he wanted.
But now that was biting him in the ass. Giorno would be there in three, no two minutes, and Mista’s apartment could be charitably called a fucking wreck. So the date wasn’t going great so far and it hadn’t even started yet, which probably wasn’t a good sign.
And just as Mista realized he had forgotten to put the dishes away again, there was a knock at his door. There wasn’t any avoiding it. Mista took a deep breath and opened the door.
Giorno looked like a dream. He wore an exquisite suit, probably some designer label that Mista had never even heard of, all black with gold details, and there were flowers woven into his blond hair like a crown. Living flowers of course, but they shone like jewels, like nothing Mista had every seen.
Mista stood there, staring like a fucking weirdo for longer than he’d like to admit, before he realized he should say something. “Wow.”
“Too much?” Giorno looked down and nervously fiddled with the hem of his jacket. “I can get rid of the flowers.”
“No. It’s fine.” It really wasn’t. Mista was still wearing his usual sweater and jeans and Giorno looked like a fucking Greek god. “Come in.”
Giorno stepped into his apartment and holy shit, Giorno was in his apartment, where he most certainly did not belong in his tailored suit and his leather shoes. Mista’s apartment, where he had once gotten a wad of half-chewed gum stuck on the ceiling for like a month (long story, hanging posters was hard). Why had he thought this was okay? Because it wasn’t. It super wasn’t.
“This is nice,” Giorno said and smiled, because he was always so polite, even when telling lies.
“Oh. Thanks.” Mista could feel his face turn red. “Do you- do you wanna sit down?”
“Sure.” There was an expression on Giorno’s face that Mista hadn’t seen before. It looked so alien on his delicate features.
Mista gestured at the couch. It was mostly clean, except for a stack of magazines on one end, which Mista realized with a sinking feeling, contained a few titles that Giorno definitely should not see. Mista couldn’t really be blamed for having those, he was a teenaged boy living alone after all, but Giorno didn’t need to see them. So he hurriedly scooped up the pile of magazines and ducked into his bedroom. They could hide in his closet for now. Surely Giorno wouldn’t look in there.
By the time Mista returned to the living room, Giorno was sitting comfortably on the couch like a king on a throne because that was really the only way Giorno sat anywhere. He had something commanding about the way he held himself, and he didn’t seem able to turn it off. Like the curls in his hair, it just happened.
“I like your apartment,” Giorno said. “It smells good.”
“What?” Mista’s apartment didn’t smell like much of anything.
Giorno’s eyes went big. “Nothing.” There was that strange expression again. Was he afraid? “Rounding up the drug teams is going well. I think we can finish the task over the next few months.”
“Yeah.” Mista sat down next to him and stared pointedly at his own hands. “I think so too.”
“And Buccellati is handling the trafficking ring in Sicily. He said he won’t need backup, but I’m thinking about sending some anyway. Just to be careful.”
“Good idea.”
“Thanks.”
The room was about quiet enough to hear a pen drop. It could be going worse, Mista supposed. Giorno could have actually murdered him. But it could also be going a lot better.
Giorno was the one to break the silence. He pointed at the console by Mista’s TV. “Is that a Famicom?”
“N64,” Mista answered. “Narancia gave it to me last Christmas. Not sure where he got the money.”
“Do you play games on it?”
“Yeah.”
Thankfully, the most uncomfortable conversation Mista had even been in was interrupted by the buzz of his doorbell. He stood up and answered it. Pizza. Mista couldn’t cook very well, not well enough for someone like Giorno, so he’d thought it was a good idea to order pizza. Everybody liked pizza. But now, as he handed over the cash and shut the door with the box in his hands, he realized that was a mistake. He should have at least ordered something fancy.
There wasn’t really any backing down now, so he put the box down on his rickety little kitchen table and got plates out of the dishwasher and pulled up an extra chair. If Giorno was offended, and surely he was, he was doing a great job of hiding it.
Over dinner, Giorno talked about business and things started to seem normal again. He had recently met with the head of operations in Southern Italy, and there was a lot to explain about the trouble with the hierarchy. The previous boss had left Passione in a tricky position with power was divided between regional leaders and Giorno’s reforms required a strong centralized system and that made things difficult.
Giorno was so interesting to listen to. He saw things that no one else did, the little connections and loopholes that he could exploit. Where most people would see a closed door, Giorno saw an opportunity. The way he explained things, it was like uncovering a whole new way of thinking, like he wasn’t describing the same stuff Mista knew and understood. He could listen to Giorno for hours, just talking about the simplest shit.
This was how Giorno should be, confident and smooth and not the least bit scared. But whenever the conversation left business, he got that look again and struggled for words. Mista wasn’t much better, but at least he was consistently terrible.
When they were done eating, they returned to the couch, and Mista floated the idea of a movie. Giorno seemed more than willing to quit worrying about conversation for an hour or two. Mista chose at random, and that ended up being Dirty Harry because why not the least Giorno kind of movie out there. But once it started, Mista realized his choice hadn’t really mattered. Neither of them were watching.
Giorno made the first move. As the old TV flickered to life, he grabbed Mista’s hand like he was trying to steal it and held on tight. It wasn’t quite romantic, but it was somewhere close. And by the time the movie really started, Giorno was practically sitting in his lap. The flowers in his hair tickled Mista’s nose and Giorno laughed when he sneezed and it was the only thing in the world that mattered. Giorno didn’t laugh very often, but there he was, wrapped in Mista’s arms and giggling like a schoolgirl.
The next hour and a half was maybe the best of Mista’s life. Giorno was warm and beautiful and now that the initial barrier had broken, he was brave. Nothing dirty just cuddling, and somehow that felt more intimate than sex. So even if the date was a failure, at least Mista had gotten to hold him for a little while. And that wasn’t enough, but it was better than he deserved.
The credits rolled and Giorno checked his watch. He sighed when he saw how late it had gotten, and sat up. “I have a meeting in the morning.”
“It’s fine,” Mista said. “You’ve got work to do.” Of course Giorno didn’t want to spend the night. Mista had proved himself a shitty potential boyfriend.
Giorno fixed the collar of his jacket. “This was nice.”
“Really?” Maybe that was going too far, but Mista was a fucking idiot and maybe Giorno was telling the truth.
“Yeah,” Giorno said. He bent down and kissed Mista on the cheek. “Let’s do it again tomorrow.”
And he left Mista sitting on his shitty couch in his shitty apartment, wondering how in the world he had gotten so lucky that maybe, just maybe Giorno loved him back.

finished-Part-4 thoughts
so listen. I more or less cut my teeth in the BBC Sherlock fandom. there is literally no stone unturned where that group is concerned and I was/am(?) pretty into johnlock.
that said, I am accustomed to both a mountain range’s worth of evidence being available, but that same evidence also requiring a little bit of legwork to attain. in other words, I’m not lazy; not when it comes to seeing and supporting a relationship I’m into. (other stuff, all bets are off, but did you SEE my tumblr handle? yeah, we’re keeping it fairly singular here lol)
so. believe me when I say that when I WANT to see something, I know how to work for it. heck, I might even cheat a bit. unfortunately though, be it “rare pairs” or even some popular ships, if there isn’t SOMETHING letting me see it, I usually move. as I know I’ve stated before,
**these are MY opinions and only that**
so please don’t come for me like I’m telling you what you can/can’t do. fandom is big enough for everyone! if I can block/mute/filter whatever I personally don’t want to see, I intend to use those tools made available to me and let others go on their merry way!!
that being said, I’ve come to the conclusion that I don't see Josuke and Rohan as a pair. I am completely through Part 4 now and I really held out. yeah, that stuff leading up to and with Highway Star was pretty intense, but then the mirror shattered pretty quickly once Josuke healed him at the end, IMO. as a person who looks way too closely for these things (guilty as charged), the fact that Jotaro was there when he hadn't been up until that point really set up a mirror for HIM helping Kakyoin...only Josuke got yelled at and Jotaro's eyes went under the hat. yare yare indeed.
I'm definitely not the first person to draw this comparison, although the place I'd seen it before saw it somewhat differently. iirc, they said Jotaro mirrored his own mother there, like he "understood" the motivation behind why you'd help someone, but I almost saw the whole thing more as Araki making FUN of what happened in Part 3. so in other words, I see it as evidence AGAINST Josuke and Rohan, not necessarily FOR.
okay, well take the time old trope of enemies-to-lovers. sure there is plenty of animosity there, but even after the worst of it burns off, the most I get is a grudging, no I mean GRUDGING respect. they barely acknowledge each other after that, and while Rohan has to be stared down/growled at by Koichi just to come clean with Reimi before she DISAPPEARS FOREVER, it's only convenient to say that "he's never straightforward with how he feels".
BUT SPEAKING OF KOICHI, I don't exactly ship it, but I could probably convince myself sooner that Rohan has a bit of a crush on HIM. I mean you can sort of take some of the things that Yukako mentions as reasons SHE has for loving him, for the things she sees in him, etc. and find similar beliefs on Rohan's part.
but yeah, when I finish a story and start feeling out the fan works to help me continue enjoying the characters, it's definitely hard to ignore the most popular (and by this case I mean most readily available and abundant) ships. however, I'm quickly brought back to what I had said before about Jotaro and Kakyoin. ships don't just exist because of the canon evidence that is there to support them, and the ones with the most "evidence" aren't automatically the best or "more valid". I've been around long enough to know better than to think any of that. hell I wouldn't be writing any of this if seeing wayyy underneath or entertaining remote possibilities or larks wasn't something I could do or took interest in!!
I mean heck, for the most part I've been talking about characters who don't even have on-screen canon partners whose existence I have to sort of gloss over or whatever...these are gift-wrapped by comparison! LOL (otoh, Araki's penchant for killing my favs doesn't really help, but lucky for him I've got a crazy imagination and uh, quite a few audio notes saved on how I'd get around all that. so. 😏)
I won't patronise anyone (or myself lol) by saying "I don't need ships to enjoy something" even though it's probably 50(ish)% true. I simply know myself and that part of connecting with characters for me is to explore those sides of them that you don't really get to *without* putting them together with someone. that "someone" just tends to be a 同性 pair. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(as an aside, I've noticed a truly LARGE amount of chara/READER fic for this fandom? that's never really been my thing, but I'm curious as to why it seems so much more abundant in the jjba fan world.)
so I'll say a few (more) things now that I've wrapped on Part 4.
1) I loved it. I loved the pace, I loved the variety of characters, of situations, THE AESTHETIC. I get why the previous parts were they way they were for the most part, but I'd be LYING if I didn't say that the "slice of life" moments helped make this part my favourite yet!
2) that said, I think my burning need to write for Part 2 in particular, but also Part 3, has a lot to do with not getting those moments. but hey, fandom has always been the best for those sorts of things - I just love Part 4 for letting me kick back a bit...
3) late af, but I'm super into Josuke and Okuyasu. as friends, as more? WHATEVER!! give it all to me. ✨ also THANK YOU Araki for breaking your fucking Kill All The Best Friends curse! you'll probably clap back with Part 5, knowing you, but I'll take what I can get!!
4) did I mention just how much I love Josuke and Okuyasu's relationship?! yeah listen I can take it at face value and still be thrilled but idk man, this one is wide fucking open AND I LOVE IT.
5) ...I think Araki ships himself with Rohan too hard to let anyone else have him anyway. 😂

The boat's engines roared as it made its way out into the water, Jotaro trying to head for the place where waves got big enough for surfing, which was pretty close to where to coast guard was patrolling. “Do you have any plan for how to lure out the Stand user?” Rohan asked, waves splashing around them as he drove the boat. “Yeah,” Jotaro answered. Jotaro did, in fact, not have a plan. As the recent attacks seemed to be random he still had no clue as to how it happened but was hoping their very presence would be enough. “Around here, stop,” he said as they arrived close to where Jotaro had seen the wave the first time yesterday. Rohan killed the engines, “Okay, now what?” Jotaro was silent. Rohan was silent. Jotaro remained silent. “… the plan, Jotaro-san…?” Rohan asked, impatiently, with his paper and pen ready. Star Platinum appeared behind Jotaro, “Ora!” and began to smash the water next to the boat with his fists, making the boat rock violently, “ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA!!!” Rohan clenched his hands to the boat, trying to not lose his drawing equipment, “You fool, is THIS your plan?!” “Yeah,” Jotaro calmly answered thinking that it might provoke the Stand user to show up, believing it being attacked. “Woaah-aaah nooo!” Rohan said as the rocking made a bunch of his papers fly overboard and into the water. Star Platinum stopped, Jotaro sighed looking disappointed into the water that was starting to settle down into calmer waves. And that’s when he saw it. Her. “M-mermaid!” he said shocked, pointing down into the water. “Mermaid?!” Rohan lunged over to Jotaros side, looking down into the water, starting to immediately make a sketch on his paper. A few meters down, there was a slightly blurry image of a woman, with long dark hair and a tailfin. Both men silently watched in awe over this bizarre happening, only hearing the writing of Rohan's pen and gentle waves, when the mermaid suddenly glow up in green light and the water started to splash violently around them. “A Stand!” both of them said in chorus, as the water around them started to turn into a whirlpool, dragging the boat along.
Meanwhile, at the beach, Joseph had been waiting patiently and observing the boat with a pair of binoculars. Suddenly he saw the boat making strange movements, the water around it getting more violent. “T-that’s it, they’re getting attacked! I should be able to find the Stand user now!” he shouted and put his hands to the ground, “Hermit Purple!” long purple thorns appearing from his hands, starting to create a map in the sand in front of him, showing the area of the seafloor where the Stand user hides; a quite rocky area with some corrals close to it.
“Jotaro!” Rohan desperately shouted hugging his papers and pen with an arm and holding the boats steering wheel with his free hand, “the engines won’t make it out of the whirlpool!” he was flooring the gas pedal with no effect. Jotaro looked into the water but could no longer see the mermaid Stand; it had disappeared just about the same time as the whirlpool was conjured. What options did he have? Stopping time would not help them escape the whirlpool. Their best option would be… “We have to find the Stand user, now! And beat the crap out of it!” Jotaro shouted over the sound of the mighty whirlpool. “But we have no idea where it is! The mermaid just disappeared!” Rohan shouted back.
“OH MY GOOOOOD!” Joseph shouted as he saw the boat spin around into what seemed to be a whirlpool, “They won’t be able to make it back!” the old man sweated looking at the boat through the binoculars. He knew where the Stand user was, it was not far from the boat, and his grandson and favourite mangaka in the boat needed that information now. He looked down in the sand at the map Hermit Purple had drawn. “Well well…” he said, dropping his coat on the ground next to him revealing his no longer very buff body wearing a t-shirt with a commission drawing made by Rohan saying ‘I LOVE CAESAR SALAD’ next to a blonde guy, “To think it would come to this, but this old man still has some tricks up his sleeve… I hope,” he said, not wholly certain, but this was no time for doubt. He pulled up one of the papers Rohan had given him and the bottle of ink. “Hermit Purple!” he shouted, making the purple vines crush the bottle of ink, soaking themselves in the black ink and then quickly redrawing the map on the paper, with exactly the right amount of ink for it to dry out instantly. He then folded the paper into a paper airplane, took a deep breath, and focused. He pictured in his mind the place where to boat currently was, eyes closed, and starting to control his breathing, building up energy inside him. This was a technique he had not used for years; an ancient breathing technique to manifest sun-like energy through the body, and its name was… “HAMON!” he shouted, starting to glow in a golden light bright as the sun. He took a stance, ready to throw away the airplane into the air. He felt the ripples of life around him and the soul of an old best friend lending his strength one last time. Now was the time, he opened his eyes. “SUNLIGHT YELLOW OVERDRIVE! GO!” with all his energy built up, he unleashed it into the airplane, sending it towards the boat with tremendous speed and force. Panting, he stood at the beach for a second, seeing the airplane speeding away, then collapsing down to his knees. “Give it all you got, Jotaro-kun!”

Jotaro spent the following day, together with his chil-, I mean, companion Koichi to formulate a plan for helping not only the starfish but all of Morioh beach. After a good night's rest, Jotaro went to the beach and met up with Koichi, awaiting the rest of the team to show up. The festival was still ongoing, with a lot of buzz and people there, which was to their advantage for setting the plan in motion. After about fifteen minutes everyone was there; Jotaros nephew Josuke, Josuke's bro Okuyasu, Koichi's date-mate Yukako, the local Italian delight Tonio, old man Joseph and of course Rohan the guy who can not speak Italian. Jotaro took tone, “Okay everyone, as I mentioned yesterday over the phone, we’re here today to take care of all the littering and trash that has been piling up at Morioh beach. It’s endangering the wildlife in the sea, making a couple of Stand user starfish attacking people recently, you’ve probably read the headlines… so today we’re putting a stop to that and making the environment better. Koichi hit it,” he passed over to Koichi. “Ah, yes, Jotaro-san! So, we have come up with a plan where we have tried to utilize everyone's abilities as much as we can to make the beach and the waters cleaner! You will work in teams with different tasks. The first team is the seafloor team, Okuyasu and Josuke. Rohan will use his Heaven's Door to make you able to breathe underwater. Then Okuyasu, you will erase any trash at the seafloor with your Stand, The Hand,” Koichi did not have time to finish his sentence before Okuyasu had ripped his clothes off and showing off a pair of swimming trunks underneath his clothes, bright blue with golden dollar signs on them, proceeding to flex his muscles along with his Stand The Hand behind him. “Hell yeah let’s go! I’m great at erasing things, hehehe! Leave it to me!” he boasted with confidence. “Uhm, that’s great Okuyasu-kun, but please try to not erase any actual sea life or plants down there.. and that is why you have Josuke with you! Josuke, your task is to use Crazy Diamond to heal any unhealthy or damaged sea life down there.” “Okay, got it, count on me,” Josuke nodded, not ripping his clothes off in excitement. Koichi leaned towards him and whispered, “Also please make sure that Okuyasu doesn’t do anything that’s, well... too Okuyasu, you know?” Josuke nodded with a grin and gave thumbs up. “Ahem, next team will be me, Yukako and Tonio, we’re team boat,” Koichi could once again not finish his sentence, due to Yukako bursting out in happiness. “Ooo!h I will get to be with my beloved Koichi! And the chef! Is this a romantic lunch date in a boat, with locally produced environmental friendly food?!” she jumped of joy and fiercely hugged Koichi. “DI MOLTO! I will prepare an exquisite romant-” Tonio burst out in agreement leaping forward into the hug but could not finish. At the same time, a voice muttered tiredly, “For fucks… Za Warudo,” and suddenly Tonio and Yukako stood some meters away from Koichi, with Jotaro behind them with a hand on each of their shoulders, “Continue Koichi.” Koichi felt naive not seeing this coming, but continued although being a bit startled from the sudden hugs, “Ah, yes, thanks Jotaro-san… As I was saying, we’re team boat and we are taking a boat out into the waters. Yukako, you will use your Stand Love Deluxe to form your hair into a net to collect trash from the water and try to filter out any fish that gets stuck. We will then put the trash in the boat. Don’t worry I have already made an appointment at a local beauty shop to  make your hair look fresh and amazing and afterwards I have made an appointment at Tonios for that romantic exquisite meal...” Yukako and Tonio swooned a bit and Koichi continued, “Tonio, your task will be to use your Stand Pearl Jam to prepare a delicious nutritious fertilizer that we can drop into the ocean to heal it and make the water cleaner. I have supplies loaded up in the boat. I will drive the boat and use my Echoes to locate trash in the water and also calculate a path so we cover everything.” “How fun, Bellissimo!” Tonio was happy, “Such a culinary challenge!” “Good. Now, the last team will be team beach, composed of Rohan and Joseph,” this time Koichi paused, having a feeling he would be interrupted otherwise. “Hey, I have to be with that old geezer?” Rohan said in chock, pointing to a half-asleep Joseph. “Yeah we figured it was the best choice to just have Joseph at the beach, with you.. but it won’t be that bad!” Koichi reassured the sweating mangaka, “Rohan, you’re an important spearhead in preventing further littering. You and Joseph will go around and inform people about not littering. Use your Heaven's Door to write into people that they will throw their trash in trash cans instead of littering and that they will pick up any trash they see and throw it. Joseph will then hand them a flyer about information about how important Morioh’s sealife is and the importance of throwing your trash where it belongs and to recycle. With your ability written in them, they won’t simply throw the flyer away!” Rohan nodded in approval, “That’s is a very clever idea! And I guess I will just...” he summoned Heavens Door and opened a book in Joseph, pen eagerly writing, “... write into him to do his task properly...” “OH MY GOD!” Joseph gasped after Rohan had finished writing the commands in him, “I feel a sudden urge to hand out flyers after Rohan has talked with people!” “And that just leaves Jotaro, who will communicate with everyone through walkie talkies and organize the whole operation and be where needed. He will also communicate with Morioh’s environmental committee to keep them informed about the needs of the beach and garbage disposal,” Koichi nodded to Jotaro who nodded back and then proceeded to hand out walkie talkies and items to respective teams. “Alright then,” Jotaro said when everyone had got what they needed, “Let’s commence “Operation Clean Morioh Beach! Go!” he pointed towards the water and all the teams spread out to their respective assigned area. “Oi Josuke! There will be turtles huh?! Watch out so you won’t get snapped by one of them, hehehehe!” Okuyasu teased with his friend. “Ugh, turtles!!! The worst! I’m heading to the changing room to get into my swimwear…” Josuke replied bitterly and walked away. “Yare yare…” Jotaro said and proceeded to meet up with the committee. Meanwhile in the bushes a few meters from where the gang had assembled, a certain serial killer sat hidden and had overheard the whole operation. “And here I thought they had met up to track me down today, and I just wanted to have a nice day at the festival… Can’t take any risks, I will do that another day I guess,” Kira said and walked out of the shadows, away from the beach and back towards town. “But they do have a point about caring for the environment and keeping the beach clean, don’t they, Killer Queen?” he said as a newspaper fluttered about in the wind on the ground and his ripped pink wrestler cat Stand showed up and poked the newspaper, making it explode in a tiny boom and turning it into dust, “Nyaa~” Killer Queen meowed. “I guess it's not as good as recycling it, but I don't want to soil my beautiful hands with something as dirty as that…” he scoffed, “But I guess the town too might be kind of dirty, and since my plans for the day got cancelled, I might as well…” he looked his Stand in its eyes and gave off a small smile, “Let’s go Killer Queen, we have some litter in town that needs to bite the dust,” he said and walked off into town for a better cause.
And so the evening came. The festival had quieted down and most of the people had dispersed from the beach beside a few citizens enjoying the evening sunset and the glittering ocean view. The gang had assembled at the beach once more. Bags of trash had been taken away by the garbage truck. Flyers had been handed out. Signs had been put up with the message to not litter. The water was clean. The corals and seaweed on the seafloor were healthy and healed. Yukako's hair had been brushed by Koichi. A certain punks fingers had been bitten by turtles and a certain other punk had laughed his ass off. The starfish Scylla and Charybdis had given their thanks to Jotaro and could rest easy. All was well in Morioh beach and waters. Jotaro stood in front of the gang. “Everyone… Good job today. We have helped the sealife of Morioh beach to start recovering and to spread a culture among the citizens of taking responsibility for our actions, for the sake of the environment. A single person may not be able to do much, but together we can keep our world and planet in good shape. To make it a place for both humans and animals and nature, without the expense of another. And this is a responsibility we all have, especially adults like me, who will leave this planet to further generations, like several of you. Keep up the good work everyone. Thank you,” he started to clap his hands and everyone else joined in. The operation was over and successful and the gang went out to have a lovely dinner at Tonio's. And remember, as long as we all try to do our best and take responsibility for our actions, there will always be a shining hope for the future.
This was the story of how bizarre happenings at Morioh beach led to the beach being a better place. But this was also the story of how Jotaro Kujo found the perfect subject for his doctoral thesis in marine biology; the intriguing starfish of Morioh!

The next day Jotaro went back to the beach, which today hosted a festival, with lots of people, vendors and activities. None of it was of interest to Jotaro, he was there with a purpose and hired a small motorboat to go out into the waters. He drove around for two hours in the beautiful blue water, without noticing anything out of the ordinary, only seeing occasional surfers and swimmers closer to the beach. He did, however, notice how much trash that was floating around in the water in several places; plastic bags, old newspapers, cans and other things. Despicable, no respect for nature, he thought and sighed. If he weren’t able to find another subject for his thesis, he might just give up and write his thesis about the effects of trash floating around in the oceans, a subject many already written… his thesis would wind up being what its subject would be: trash. Just as he was on his way back to the beach, his face was hit with what he was currently thinking about; trash. A wrapping from some fast food had flown right into his face. He wiped it away, disgusted with some ketchup now on his cheek, and failed to catch it as it flew away in the wind, fuck, Jotaro thought with a sting of guilt for second-hand littering. Suddenly, his boat rocked a bit and waves were starting to splash wildly around him and he started to hear distant screams from the beach, which he was fairly close to by now. He saw people getting up from the water and running away from the beach. Jotaro heard a sudden roar behind him and quickly turned his head around and saw a huge wave of water quickly coming towards the beach seemingly out of nowhere. The edge of the wave was to swallow him in seconds, forcing him to act hastily. “Star Platinum!” Jotaro shouted and his fierce blue and purple Stand manifested, as he accelerated the boat and steered it to move horizontally along the wave, “ZA WARUDO!” A shockwave burst out from Star Platinum as time around them froze, but the boat Jotaro drove still sped on to ride alongside the wave’s front, leaving an empty trench in the water behind the boat. Star Platinum rose its fists as they approached the wave, “ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA!!” the Stand shouted and delivered punches into both the wave and the water in front of it, until Jotaro finally made it to the other end of the wave, reaching his limit of stopping time. “Resume time!” Jotaro said and the gears of time started to turn once again, making the big wave burst from Star Platinums punches, whilst also being stopped by a smaller opposing wave created from the punches directed at the water in front of the wave. The empty trench from the boat sucked it all up, creating a broad geyser turning everything into a shower before the water stilled once again. The panic on the beach started to settle down and Jotaro slowed down as he went into the beach to return the boat. That wave was not natural, he thought, looking out over the ocean, which had gone from calm to calamity in seconds. Maybe he couldn’t dismiss the possibility that this was the work of a Stand, and suddenly he realized... Stand users are drawn to other Stand users. And this one seemed to be in the beaches water; the beach that Jotaro frequently visited. “Shit,” Jotaro sweated and thought, I’M the Stand user that is being drawn to the other Stand user!
Jotaro decided to go back to the hotel and regroup his facts and impressions. He knew the following: - People had been attacked out of nowhere with no provocation given quite severe injuries. - Attacked people had seen, what seemed to be, a mermaid. - He himself had been attacked by a huge wave that came out of nowhere without warning, that probably was the attack of a Stand user.
He sat at the table in his hotel room, with a cup of tea, pondering these thoughts. How could they be puzzled together? Logic dictated that the mermaid could not be a Stand, as normal humans could not have been able to see it, had that been the case. So the mermaid could instead potentially be a Stand user – if it was a mermaid or just someone mistaken for a mermaid. He knew he once had battled a water Stand and held his breath for a long time, so it was possible there were more Stand users with that lung capacity. But why would a Stand user attack normal civilians in the water? Did it want to lure out Jotaro and his friends? He had to find out the reason and to do that he had to find the user. He hoped it was not related to Kira and that it could be settled peacefully in the case that the user was an actual mermaid. He was not fond of the thought of beating up what could be a great subject for his thesis. Jotaro picked up the phone next to him and dialled a number, “Hey. It’s Jotaro. … No, JOTARO. JOJO. … Meet me at the beach tomorrow at 12am. … No, the BEACH. The B-E-A-C-H. … Good,” he hung up the phone and sighed, “Yare yare…” this was a gamble but he had to try it.
And so the next day came, and Jotaro made his way to the beach. He looked out over the setting to observe the surroundings. The festival was still on for another day, but today there were a lot of lifeguards around and warning signs to not get too far out in the water. Also, the coast guard had a boat patrolling. Yesterday’s sudden violent wave had made the town cautious and the number of people out enjoying themselves was slightly fewer than yesterday. Good, thought Jotaro, in the events of encountering the possible Stand again he would prefer there to be fewer people in the risk of being injured. “Aah, there you are, Jotaro-kun!” an old familiar voice called behind him, Jotaro turned around and saw his company had finally arrived, his old grandpa Joseph Joestar, but he was not the only one approaching them. “Good morning, Jotaro-san,” Kishibe Rohan spoke, walking together with Joseph. “Rohan-san?” Jotaro said surprised. “I ran into Rohan-kun at the bus stop! He was also heading for the beach!” Joseph answered before Rohan could say anything. “Yes, and I helped you get on the right bus... I thought that the recent activities happening here at the beach might be a good inspiration for my stories!” Rohan said and stroked a pose, sketch block in hand. “I see,” Jotaro said, not very surprised over the mangakas motive for being here but also not very interested either, “Listen up, old man. I believe there is a Stand user in the water. I need your help tracking it down.” “A sand user in the water, Iggy's alive?! OH MY GOOOD!” Joseph burst out in shock, putting his hands to his cheek. “Joseph, please, Iggy's been dead for years… I said a Stand user in the water, not sand user…” “Huuuuhhh?? Sand in the water??” Joseph said confused, “is there a problem with that?” “No, a STAND in the water,” Jotaro said louder. “Hahaha! Silly boy, you’re not standing in the water, you’re standing at the beach,” Joseph turned to Rohan, “he is standing at the beach, right? My eyesight has gotten worse lately, I wish it was as good as my hearing…” he took off his glasses and wiped them off at his jacket. “Uhh…” Rohan had a lack of words. “STAND USER. WATER. FIND THEM,” Jotaro said irritated, as Star Platinum manifested behind him, pointing towards the water. “There is a Stand user in the water?! Why didn’t you say so! We have to find them!” Joseph eagerly said, starting to walk towards the beach. “Joseph, wait!” Jotaro walked up to him, “I’ll take a boat out into the water and lure the Stand out, then you will use Hermit Purple to track it down and write a map in the sand and then we will come back and see its location on the map. I suspect it is a short-range power Stand with the ability to manipulate water. Therefore, I believe it is the safest choice that you stay at the beach.” Joseph looked up at him and nodded with a serious expression on his face, “Got it.” Rohan cleared his throat, “Ahem, excuse me, but may I be of assistance? I cannot see a better opportunity to observe these happenings than to be on the boat as well,” he politely asked, then changed his tone, “and if there really is a Stand user…” Jotaro nodded at him. Looking back at how he barely made it yesterday, he could need some extra help, although his motives were to only find the Stand user and not fight it – but if it were hostile he might have no other choice than to face off with it. “Let’s get the boat,” Jotaro said to Rohan, nodding towards the boat shack close by. “Oh, before you go,” Joseph said, “Could you spare me a paper and some Ink, Rohan-kun?” “Sure,” Rohan answered and pulled out a spare bottle of ink, handing it over to Joseph with a couple of papers, “Why?” Joseph smirked, “Just in case, you never know what may come in handy! Or I might get bored and feel like making a drawing!” he then let out a laugh which turned into a cough, “God I’m starting to get too old for this…” Rohan and Jotaro made their way to the boat shack, “Are you sure he is fit for this…?” Rohan asked worried, feeling like Joseph wasn’t the most reliable, although he knew Joseph at least had paid in time for a drawing commission he ha made recently. Jotaro smiled faintly, “No worries, the old man may not have a body as ripped and sweet as back in the days, but when it comes to getting things done, he never lets you down. Let’s go!”

Jotaro and Rohan sank down a bit into the water, landing on a rocky plateau. Jotaro put down the two starfish and spoke to them, in a clear and slow manner, with the help of Star Platinum. “We mean you no harm. We understand you defended yourselves. Our trash is disturbing your home and the sea life, and by trash, I do not mean Rohan right now. We did wrong and want to help,” Jotaro said and one of the starfishes Stands emerged in front of them; it was Scylla, making its mermaid form. “Our will to attack.. gone,” it spoke, “We saw you, taking black goop away from water,” it continued and pointed at Star Platinum. Jotaro nodded, as did Star Platinum, “Yes. Oil. It’s dangerous for the oceans and I want to protect the oceans. I am a protector of the ocean,” he said and spontaneously invented a new glamorous title for ‘marine biologist’. The mermaid was silent for a while, observing them, before speaking again, “Why you destroy home with strange objects..? Trash..?” it asked with both curiosity and vigilance, confused by the human's contradictory words and actions. “Some humans are careless. Do things without thinking it through,” Rohan answered, “For ages, we humans have thrived in consumption, without thinking about the consequences. Exploiting and doing as we please. Without taking responsibility for our actions… which in the long run harms others, like your home and all of the ocean has been harmed.” Jotaro jumped into Rohan's speech, “And sometimes we need the perspective of others to see clearly. And seeing through your eyes we realize that we have been taking this beach and Morioh waters for granted. Prioritizing tourism before it’s beautiful nature... Dolphins...” Rohan looked around and saw no dolphins, “Anyway… You have powers and so do we as you have seen. We have friends with powers and together we can help you restore your home.” “You can help?” Scylla's mermaid said, still uncertain about Jotaro and Rohan, “How do we know you speak the truth?” Jotaro for a second thought about making Bucciarati lick his cheek again as proof of him no lying but realized that would make no sense to the starfish, “If we did not, would we not have gotten rid of you by now? You have seen our powers. And both your people and our people suffer from this. We know you have attacked our people and you had a good reason for doing so,” Jotaro bent down on one of his knees and Rohan observed and followed him, “And I apologize for the wrongdoings of humanity. But this circle of hurt has to stop. We humans too love the ocean and if we don’t stop this behaviour now, we will not only hurt you who inhabit the oceans, but we will also hurt ourselves. We are all part of the same planet. The same world. Let’s help each other solve this problem.” Scylla was silent for a moment and then spoke, “We accept... the apology. We trust you. Help us.” Jotaro nodded and smiled, “Then we will ask our friends for help. Do you need help to get back to your colony?” he offered. “No,” Scylla answered boldly, “We make our way ourselves. We will prepare. Find all the places with.. trash,” it answered before disappearing in a green energy cloud. Then both of the starfish glowed up with Stand energy and was lifted up upon a rock that started to glide away in the water, back towards the starfish colony near the beach. Jotaro and Rohan made their way back up to the surface and up aboard the boat. “Jotaro-san, to think you are the type to have such a tongue for a great speech like that...” Rohan said and smiled, impressed by the stoic Jotaro. “I haven’t had to choose my words that carefully since I was at university last time, exhausting… Yare yare daze,” he tilted his hat. Bucciarati approached them as the boat started to move towards the Morioh harbour. “It seems you resolved the issue with the starfish?” he said and then pointed at Rohan, “Also that guy doesn’t speak Italian anymore, I have no idea what he just said.” Rohan's writing on his arm that made him speak Italian had been washed off in the water, “For fuck's sake...”, he grunted. The boat arrived at the harbour and Rohan and Jotaro was to step off the boat, as Jotaro hesitated for a moment and stopped, turning to Bucciarati. “Hey. By the way. We’re currently chasing a serial killer in this town. A Stand user. And your Stand seems pretty powerful. We could use someone like you on our team.” Bucciarati smiled but shook his head, “I have to turn the offer down. I have my own matters to attend to. But I hope you won’t be killed, Jotaro Kujo and Rohan Kishibe.” Jotaro and Rohan smiled and made their way off the boat, seeing the Italian off, “Thanks for the help, goodbye!” Rohan bid Bucciarati farewell. “I have no idea what you said! Arrivederci!” Bucciarati greeted back and the Quattro Stagioni started to make its way out of the harbour. “What a strange happening and a strange town… And that Jotaro, he had a certain energy to him.. I feel as if it won’t be the last time I come across someone with that special energy,” Bucciarati said to himself, disappearing towards the horizon. “Okay then, that was an informative field trip with lots of great experiences! It will be a great asset for an ocean arc for my Pink Dark Boy series…” Rohan was satisfied with the day, “So do you have any plan for how to help the Starfish?” “Yeah. I’ll get the team together. I’ll need a day to prepare, I’ll call you tomorrow,” he waved Rohan off as they parted ways. But it felt like he had forgotten something, something important that he should have remembered to take care off, a responsibility… At the same time, a bit out from Morioh beach waters, a lone motorboat was drifting around in the water. “Yare yare fucking daze, the boat...” Jotaro sighed and looked out into the horizon, ocean glittering beautifully with hope, except for the boat, of course, which had no hope left in any possible horizon and was only to face a rough destiny, bruised by violent waves, sinking into oblivion doomed to rust into a husk of its former self. Possibly. Or more likely just drift back to the shore, but that is another tale that is not relevant to Jotaros story, although it actually was his fault and the boat rental will most likely give Jotaro an extra fee for not returning the boat according to rental rules, causing him to spiral deeper down in student loans and debts. Anyway, let’s move on with the actual story. What? The chapter is over? Okay, see you next time in BoatBoats Bizarre Adventure: Motorboat is Unsinkable!

The duo got aboard the freighter with the unknown Italian Stand user, not knowing if he is a friend or foe, but Jotaro had a good feeling since the Italian had helped them without hesitation. “Your Stand, it still has the leaked oil pent up inside it?” the Italian man said, pointing to Star Platinum, which had not been able to do much since it sucked up the leaked oil. Jotaro nodded and looked at Star Platinum, pumped up like a balloon. The Italian summoned his Stand, Sticky Fingers, which jumped up upon the oil container and punched open a zipper in it. “Empty it in here”, the Italian said and pointed. Star Platinum jumped up and spat out litres of oil back into it followed by Sticky Fingers sealing it with the zipper. Star Platinum wiped its forehead with its hand and sighed with relief, “Ora…” “Grazie,” the Italian said, “So what’s this and who are you?” he asked cautiously and looked down on the immobilized starfish laying in front of him still zipped into halves. “Jotaro Kujo. Marine biologist student…” Jotaro answered followed by Rohan. “Oh, presentations? I’m Rohan Kishibe. I’m a manga artist, you may have heard of my critically acclaimed manga Pink Dark Boy, it’s quite popular in Italy I’ve heard. These starfish have been attacking people at random and we were investigating into it. Who are you?” Rohan asked back to the Italian man. The Italian was silent for a moment and looked at Rohan, “I have no idea what you just said, I don’t speak Japanese, but I think you mentioned the famous manga Pink Dark Boy, are you a fan perhaps...” Rohan sighed, realizing that he only made Jotaro speak and understand Italian, and that he himself actually understood nothing the Italian man said and that he probably didn’t understand him either. Rohan wrote upon his skin that he can speak and understand it too, and repeated himself. “Interesting Stand ability… So you do not know who I am?” the Italian asked, still on guard. “No, how would we? You seem to be far from here,” Jotaro answered. Before he had a moment to react, the Italian had sneaked up on him and licked his cheek. “What the hell?!” Jotaro backed away, Star Platinum ready at his side, “Aren’t we going a little fast forward right now…? I have a child! Or is this an Italian greeting?” Jotaro blushed, embarrassed. “Don’t worry. I just examined if your story checked out... and it does. You are not lying. I’m working in a… delicate business. I had to make sure you were not enemies. Bruno Bucciarati! That is my name, pleased to meet you,” Bucciarati answered, calling back his Stand. Jotaro called back his as well. “I am on a delivery mission here in Japan, overseeing the procedures… I can take you back to harbour if you need to,” Bucciarati offered them his help, “But what to do with these starfish?” “We have some business as well, with these starfish that we need to finish before heading back to town. They seem to not be able to act being out of the water and being in this.. state,” Jotaro referred to the zippers. “Don’t worry, I can zip them back together if you want to,” Bucciarati explained. “I don’t think their Stands function above water, otherwise they would have attacked us that way too. Also, they’re starfish and therefore functions best in the water,” Jotaro stated the obvious, “Piece them back together. Rohan, get ready,” Rohan nodded. “Sticky Fingers!” Bucciarati commanded his Stand to zip the starfish back together, which went smoothly without any reaction from the starfish. “Heavens Door!” Rohan summoned his own Stand and blew open pages in both starfish to find out more about them and write in commands. “What does it say?” Jotaro said, eager to finally getting to know the reason behind the starfishes attacks. “Sticky Fingers!” Bucciarati called out, making his Stand zip open the floor and then leaning down into the interior, pulling up a chair. He neatly put it besides Jotaro and Rohan, closed the zipper in the floor and then sat down on the chair. Jotaro and Rohan just stared at him. “What? I can’t just stand here not doing anything. I’d rather sit,” Bucciarati said as if he had done the most obvious thing in the world, proceeding to drink a cup of tea he also had brought with him. “... As I said. What does it say?” Jotaro ignored Bucciarati. Rohan read quietly for a bit and then read up the contents in the starfishes, “Okay, I’m reading in Scylla, but since it’s an animal the text is kind of fragmented though… Home. Poisoned. Strange objects. More. More. Two-legged land beings bring objects. Defend home. Strange objects traps. Hurt us. Hurt others. Land beings hurt us. No more,” Rohan paused, “That’s about it. There is about the same contents in Charybdis, too…” he said as he flicked some pages reading Charybdis, “Huh, this one has apparently laid 2,2 million eggs this summer, I mean it’s many but not as many as the number of sperm cells that are in a single human ejaculation…” “Rohan what the hell are you..?!” Jotaro was losing his mind with this guy and Bucciarati almost spit out his tea, “Anyway, I knew it! They were attacking humans as an instinct to defend themselves and the water. These strange objects…” Jotaro thought back at how the seafloor looked, with all the scrap and trash being stuck in seaweed and rocks and animals, “It’s the trash from us humans, having made its way into the ocean. Especially from the beach probably…” “Yeah… makes sense the starfish are defensive and pissed off,” Rohan nodded in agreement with Jotaro, “So, time for the next step?” Jotaro nodded and Rohan wrote down the following commands in both Scylla and Charybdis: understand and talk human speech via Stand power. Cannot attack Jotaro Kujo and Kishibe Rohan. Jotaro picked up the two starfish and faced Bucciarati. “We’re going back in,” Jotaro said and casually fell overboard into the water. Rohan shrugged towards Bucciarati and jumped in after Jotaro, but with style. “That man, Jotaro…” Bucciarati said in a low voice, “How in god's name does his bizarre hat even work...?”

Jotaro and Rohan dove into the water and saw Scylla and Charybdis head towards them. They headed towards their respective enemy, ready to engage the fight. Jotaro reached Charybdis first, starting to launch a barrage of punches towards it, but it replied by swallowing up a huge amount of water and becoming a large shield for its user, rendering the punches useless. Jotaro tried to move to its side to get another angle but Charybdis followed his movements quickly. However, it did not seem to attack, There are no stones here that it can shoot towards me… Damn, I should have let Rohan go after this one again! Jotaro tried to get a look at Rohan but Charybdis blocked his path and came at him with its vicious fangs. Now it tried to suck up Jotaro in an attempt to chop off his limbs. “Star finger!” Star Platinum’s right fingers shot away into the side of Charybdis, disrupting its sucking and leaving Jotaro un-sucked. A bit away Rohan struggled with Scylla. He was still tired from the swim and had a hard time hitting Scylla with Heavens Door, only having to dodge and wait for an opening. Soon, he thought, continuing to dodge, and with each and every dodge he swam a little bit closer to the Stands body, making his way between the necks lounging towards him. Then he got close enough to the body to reach it with Heavens Door, however, the necks were surrounding him, able to strike him from all sides. The necks rushed towards him, but Rohan was prepared. “Heavens Door!” the Stand punched Scylla and its necks immediately wrapped themselves around each other, leaving Rohan untouched. ‘Tie your necks together’ had been written as a command into Scylla, leaving its necks immobilized. This made Scylla start to swim towards Charybdis and Rohan saw the rock with the starfish on and started to swim towards it to get a chance to turn it into a book and let it learn human communication. But Scylla was faster and reached Charybdis, not before long, which still was defending against Jotaro. The two rocks with the starfish made their way towards each other and clumped together. Without hesitation Charybdis swam into the cluster of necks and bit them off, untangling the tangled mess. “What?!” Rohan cried as he approached the Stands, “It undone my precious work?!” Jotaro was finally able to swim up towards Rohan, “Seems like they team up now, so should we.” Scylla and Charybdis assumed a formation where the stumps of Scylla's necks grabbed a hold of Charybdis and started to merge with it with the help of its Stand energy. Charybdis mouth opened up wide, revealing its hundreds of tooth, starting to point outwards. “It’s.. a cannon!!” Rohan burst out, as Scylla and Charybdis then launched a barrage of poisonous sharp teeth towards them. “Heavens Door!” Rohan grabbed Jotaro and wrote the command ‘launch Jotaro up above the water’ in Jotaro, making both of them fly up through the water, a few meters into the air. They broke the water's surface with a loud burst of water, before dropping down into it. The saw that the barrage of teeth still was flying towards them under the water and they dodged to a side each, the teeth flying up through the water and beyond behind them. “That was a close call!” Rohan stated before hearing a loud bang, making both of them turn around in the water. Suddenly a mid-size freighter was behind them and had been struck by the teeth, making a hole in one of its containers. “When did that get there?!” Rohan said confused, starting to be completely done with this ruckus. “Fuck, it’s leaking oil!” Jotaro observed as the container started to gush out oil and knowing this was quite a catastrophe for the ocean he acted quickly, “Za Warudo!” Time stopped and Jotaro made his way towards the freighter as fast as he could, then making Star Platinum take a deep breath out before time reached its limit and resumed. Star Platinum started to suck up all the oil that made its way into the water, but it gushed out more than Star Platinum could contain. Rohan swam towards the boat as fast as he could, observing the oil leaking out and Star Platinum sucking in, all while being worried about Scylla and Charybdis which seemed to recharge for another attack by regrowing teeth, “What should I do?!” he panicked in his head to himself, when suddenly something unexpected happened at the freighter. “ARI ARI ARI ARI ARI ARI ARIIIIIII!” a barrage of punches were launched at the holes in the oil container, proceeded by the sound of several huge zippers showing up to cover up the holes. “Is that?! A Stand?!” both Rohan and Jotaro said in unison, as they saw a blue and grey Stand covered in zippers standing on the boat in front of the now-fixed container. “Is it an enemy?” Rohan said worried, looking for a Stand user. “No.. Look at the boat's name and flag. It’s not from here,” Jotaro pointed at the boat's name, Quattro Stagioni, and its Italian flag. Then a man with black hair wearing white clothes with an excessive amount of zippers showed up. “He must be an Italian Stand user! What are the odds!” Rohan gasped, Or a Final Fantasy character... he then thought to himself. Jotaro sighed, “I don’t speak Italian.” “Now you do!” Rohan quickly replied, “Heavens Door!” and wrote upon Jotaro that he can now speak Italian. Certo che lo faccio… Jotaro though and sighed, “Hey you, zipper guy! We’re Stand users under attack and that attack to your ship was caused by two starfish Stand users that we’re trying to immobilize!” he tried to summarize the situation as fast as he could, with the risk of sounding like a lunatic. The man on the boat looked down at them and then into the water behind them, seeing a faint radiance of Stand energy in the water below them. He stood quietly for a moment. Shit, maybe he doesn’t actually speak Italian! Rohan thought, giving himself a wet facepalm on his already very wet face. “… Japan… What a bizarre country,” the Italian man said and took a step up on the boats reeling and then jumped down towards the water, “I’ll make short work of this. Sticky Fingers!” His Stand appeared and punched the water’s surface making a huge zipper that the man disappear into, zipping it closed. “What kind of weird power is that?” Jotaro said curiously as if it was way more bizarre than anything else he had seen which was a real overstatement since he had fought a rat with a cannon launcher just a few weeks ago, “Let’s dive,” he said to Rohan and the both of them dove underwater again. They saw Scylla and Charybdis waiting idly a bit away, it seemed they could not get too close to the surface but with their targets back they proceeded towards Jotaro and Rohan, ready to launch another barrage of teeth. But before they even got close, a huge zipper showed up beneath the moving rocks with the starfish. The Italian man climbed out of it with his Stand, fists raised. His eyes were filled with cold determination, “Arrivederci!” it took two punches at the starfishes and the both of them were cleaved with a zipper each going through them, making their Stands disappear back into their bodies. The Italian man caught the rocks with the unzipped starfish and made his way to the surface. Jotaro and Rohan nodded to each other and also made their way back up. “Meet me on the boat,” the Italian man said and swam towards the freighter, followed by Jotaro and Rohan.

Rohan eagerly looked around the water’s surface which had become calm just a few moments ago.
“Did Jotaro defeat the Stand user…?” he quietly said to himself. “No,” Jotaro said, suddenly sitting in the boat, soaked. “WOA!” Rohan almost fell overboard, “When did you get here! What happened?” he asked, shocked to see his friend suddenly appearing out of nowhere. “Just got here. Quickly, take us to that coast guard boat!” Jotaro pointed at the coast guard patrol about fifty meters away. “Okay, so what did you discover?” Rohan asked as he floored it and drove away from the area where the starfish were, getting them out of harm's way. “Not one, but two Stand users. Both are starfish. One can manipulate water and rocks, potentially long-range. The other a short-ranged power Stand in the form of a sea monster, but also with a remotely controlled form in the shape of a mermaid consisting of… sea life scrap, with the ability to create an illusion of beauty around it.” Rohan's eyes lit up, “Magnificent! Bizarre! My head is being filled with ideas! I need to sketch them down as soon as possible! But… did you defeat them?” Jotaro shook his head, “No. Their motive for attacking is still unclear. I believe they have been randomly given Stand powers; they are most likely acting out of animal instincts. That means their intention is not to do harm, but rather protect themselves. It might be them, and not us, being in danger here.” “I see, then we would violent them by getting rid of them, which may not be the optimal solution,” Rohan replied, waving to the coast guard patrol as they approached them. “Indeed,” Jotaro said and took out the map Joseph had written showing the Stands location, making a circle in it approximately around the starfish area and then proceeding over to the coast guards handing over the map, asking them to keep people from getting close to this area due to hazardous currents and dangerous sea life. That explanation seemed to satisfy the coast guards, now having an explanation for why having seen a boat getting caught in a sudden whirlpool. A moment later back at the shore, Jotaro and Rohan met up with the exhausted Joseph. “Hehe, good job out there,” Joseph said and gave a thumbs up, putting his coat back on, “I had a feeling something like that would happen, so I asked for paper and ink to be able to aid you from the beach!” he winked at Jotaro and Rohan. Jotaro smiled, “I knew you still had some tricks with you, impressive old man,” Jotaro gratefully patted Joseph on the shoulder. Jotaro and Rohan proceeded to explain the situation to Joseph before leaving the beach to find Josuke so that Jotaros wounds could be healed up and rid of the poison. Jotaro was now one step closer to solving this bizarre mystery, but now knowing the mermaid was not real, he was also one step further from finding a subject for his thesis.
Jotaro was back at the beach the next day resolved to find a solution to this, but with little hope for his thesis, preparing for utter academic failure and future life as just a simple fisherman. He had asked Rohan to accompany him once again this time, as he realized his powers would be necessary to shed light on the starfish Stands mysterious behaviour. “Ahoy, Jotaro-san,” Rohan cheerfully greeted Jotaro as he arrived at the pier where Jotaro waited with a rented boat. “Rohan,” Jotaro greeted back, “Today we’re going to solve the mystery regarding why the starfish are attacking people.” “Alright, so what is the plan?” Rohan curiously asked. Jotaro got into the boat and gestured to Rohan to come with him, “We’re both going underwater today,” he took out a duffle bag that was stashed in the boat, opening it to reveal scuba gear, “As I understand your ability does not affect yourself so I brought this.” Rohan gulped, “It can affect me but it wouldn’t work well this time, the ink would just wash off me and I would… drown,” he said reluctantly but quickly switched mood, “Drowning would, however, be a great experience for my series and creativity, hmm…” “Just put on scuba gear, Rohan,” Jotaro said already tired of Rohan's stupid comments about gaining new experiences that didn’t make any sense. Rohan shrugged and started to put on the gear, getting in the mood to become wet. “So why am I going down with you? Weren’t those Stands pretty dangerous?” he asked. Jotaro nodded, “Yeah. But with your Stand, you can write a commando into them that makes them understand and learn human speech. That way we can ask them what their motive is for attacking people.” “That’s a good plan… But what if they’re actually out there to kill us?” Rohan asked hesitant. Jotaro shrugged, “Depending on the situation we either escape and regroup or kill them first.” “Solid plan,” Rohan did not think it was a solid plan but had faith in Jotaro being able to handle this. The boat's engines fired up with a roar and they cruised out towards the area where the starfish resided, now marked with warning buoys to keep people away. They arrived at the spot and Jotaro killed the engines. “Let’s go,” he said and jumped in with a splash. “Ugh...” Rohan grunted and jumped in after him. The duo swam down towards the area where the Starfish where both of them summoning their Stands by their sides so they could communicate with each other and be prepared for an attack. They needed to get close to be able to use Heavens Door, but getting close also came with the risk of being attacked. It did not take long before the tentacle monster and the tooth monster appeared, Jotaro engaged the monster with tentacles, “Use Heavens Door on the other one while I keep this one occupied! Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora!” Star Platinum started to launch punches towards the tentacle monster, keeping it busy. Rohan swam towards the tooth monster, dodging its shooting rocks as well as he could, although he was not as agile as Jotaro when it came to this. He saw an opening, “Heavens Door!” his Stand pierced through the toothfish Stands defences and opened the starfish up like a book leaving it immobilized for the moment. Rohan was ready to start writing as he also managed to read a bit of the page, “Shit! Jotaro, the starfish, they have-“ but he wasn’t fast enough. Suddenly the tentacle monster moved away from Jotaro around his side, away from its previous range and launched a blow at Rohan, sending him away and cancelling the effect of Heavens Door. Jotaro swam up towards Rohan, who quickly collected himself as he had managed to parry with Heavens Door just in time. “How?!” Jotaro said angrily, pissed off at the starfish. “The starfish! Since yesterday, they have found a way to move!” Rohan shouted and pointed towards the rock beds where the starfish previously laid. Both the starfish now floated upon a rock each in the water, moving towards them. “They’re moving by using the tooth monsters ability to create currents! They are on rocks riding on currents in the water! Also, I managed to read their Stand names... They’re Scylla,” Rohan pointed at the tentacle one, “and Charybdis!” then pointing towards the tooth one. “Great, this makes things so much harder…” Jotaro replied as they swam away from the Stands. The Stands seemed to chase them in a specific manner and not at random, which Jotaro quickly noticed. “I think they are trying to get us out into deeper water, away from their colony.” Rohan looked around him through the water and nodded, “Yeah, the water looks darker up ahead... I am running out of steam though, this is too much swimming for me,” he started to get exhausted. Suddenly Scylla and Charybdis stopped, which Jotaro and Rohan did not notice at first until they noticed something was different about the movement of the water. “The Stands, they have stopped!” Rohan said as he looked back, “And they have been preparing another attack!” Just as Jotaro turned around to take a look, he was met with a huge underwater wave that pushed the both of them further out into the water, but he managed to grab Rohan with Star Platinum just in time to not get separated. They hurled through the water for a while before ending up above the surface. “We’re far away from the shore now…” Jotaro stated looking towards the beach that was now far far away. “And far away from the boat! We’re at a disadvantage here!” Rohan backed up against Jotaro, “Any plan?” Jotaro thought through possible strategies, not seeing any good solutions, “We have to fight them and defeat them. I take Charybdis as my Star Platinum is the fastest of our Stands.” “And I go after Scylla, with its many arms I might have a higher chance of hitting it with Heavens Door… Let’s go.”

Caught in the whirlpools waves, Jotaro suddenly sensed something coming towards the boat at an outrageous speed, summoning Star Platinum to grab the object just as it was about to pass the boat. “Huh? What’s that all of a sudden?!” Rohan shouted, clinging to the boat. Star Platinum gave the object to Jotaro, “A paper airplane!” Jotaro unfolded it, “with a map showing the Stand users location! On the bottom of the sea, just a few meters from here!” Jotaro was ready to dive in, putting a foot upon the railing of the boat, when Rohan stopped him. “Wait! I think I can be of assistance here. It might be troublesome facing an enemy under the water so...” he said with his pencil in hand, “I’ve got an idea.” Jotaro nodded and faced Rohan, “Bring it on” “Heaven’s Door!” Rohan summoned his bright white little Stand, who opened up Jotaros face like a book and scribbled down a few sentences into it, before closing it again. Jotaro touched his face after the slightly bizarre experience, “What did you write?” Rohan smiled, “One: I will remember exactly how the map of the ocean floor looked. And two: I can breathe underwater.” “Cool, thanks,” Jotaro said prepared to jump in into the whirlpool. “Also,” Rohan continued, “It would be troublesome if you got caught in the whirlpool. So, three: the next punch from Kishibe Rohan will send me flying ten meters away from the whirlpool!” and before Jotaro had any time to react, he flew through the air ten meters away into the water, clearing the whirlpools area of effect. Yare yare… clever solution, you bastard, Jotaro thought, focusing in his mind where he was and started to swim towards the location of the Stand user, with Star Platinum summoned next to him. When he came close to the bottom of the sea, he noticed that there were quite an amount of trash lying around, stuck in the rocks and plant life growing there, a turtle trapped with plastic around its neck, horrible, the marine biologist inside him shed a tear that just blended with the water, but it was not the time for that. He had to find the user. He swam to where it should be, and he saw something green glimmer behind a large rock. As he swam around the edge of it he once again saw the mermaid. She stared at him and he stared back; she truly was beautiful. While getting closer to her Jotaro started to notice the details of her appearance; something was not quite right about her skin. It was as if the green glimmer created a thin veil of beauty around her. Focusing with Star Platinum’s precise eyesight the mermaid’s skin looked very rugged and the dark hair seemed to consist of seaweed and the half-fish body… seemed to be made up of several clams and old fins from dead fish. If mermaids ARE real, this could NOT be a real mermaid!, Jotaro raised his guard. “ORA!” Star Platinum launched a quick powerful strike into the mermaid which started to shake, making the beautiful veil disappear and revealing its parts starting to crumble. It seemed the skin and upper body was made out of starfish arms. The mermaid then suddenly exploded into a burst of bubbles of green Stand energy. Was that it? Jotaro thought, looking toward the area where the whirlpool had been; it was still there, dragging the boat further down. The Stands ability was still activated. He faced back towards the no-longer-mermaid and saw the green bubbles coming together into a larger shape, revealing the Stands true form; a monster with four eyes, six long necks with smaller eyeless heads filled with sharp teeth and twelve tentacles as legs. This is the Stand!, Jotaro looked around the close vicinity for any human beings, but quickly realized there were none and no places to hide, the only life forms he could see there… were a colony of starfish resting on the seafloor beneath him. It can’t be! The Stand user is a starfish! Jotaro realized, then the Stand attacked him with quick attacks from its six long necks, Star Platinum parrying the sharp teeth but not successfully. One of the necks had snuck around Jotaro and bitten him in the arm, intense pain flowing into him. Jotaro remembered how two of the swimming victims had immediately lost consciousness when being attacked and he felt slight drowsiness. However, as his body was hardened from many battles he was able to stand against it for now. I have to find the starfish and a way to immobilize it, Jotaro focusing his senses, seeing one of the starfish emitting the same green energy as the sea monster Stand. It was not the first time he had encountered an animal being a Stand user, but something this puny still surprised him. But since starfish can’t move very fast it means the Stands reach could not expand further than the meters around the starfish – and the mermaid form was probably a weaker remotely controlled Stand ability. However, this also meant that the starfish had a great defence around itself through its Stand being so close. This made the situation complicated as it would make it much harder to just immobilize the starfish. He did not want to obliterate it completely with a barrage of punches from Star Platinum, which would also harm innocent starfish. He made an attempt to get closer, but the sea monster Stand guarded its user leaving no opening. Star Platinum parried the necks once again, this time more successfully, but the monster shot its tentacles forward in an attempt to grab Jotaro. Star Platinum punched the sand in the seafloor, creating a smokescreen-like diversion. Jotaro backed away from the monster and it became out of range, its tentacles and necks no longer reaching him. The monster idly waited a few meters away and just as Jotaro suspected; it was a short-ranged Stand and it couldn’t move any further due to the starfish now being able to move fast enough. Thinking he was in safety he suddenly felt something sharp pierce his shoulder. Blood rushed into the water and he looked at his shoulder; a spiky rock had been launched from somewhere and pierced him. He turned around and faced a rock bed where there were several more starfish, one of them emitted blue energy, sending away another spiky rock towards Jotaro, who grabbed it with Star Platinum. Then the blue energy expanded and took shape into a round thorny fish-looking ball, no eyes but a huge gaping mouth with hundreds of teeth in it. There are two stands! Two starfish users! This is what’s causing the uproars in the beach waters recently! he thought looking back and forth between the two starfish with their Stands on each side of him. The round fish Stand used its Stand energy to rise rocks from the bottom, launching them towards Jotaro. Star Platinum smashed them apart, but Jotaro felt his movements becoming sluggish as some of the rocks grazed his body. The fish Stand started to make several rocks float, swimming by every one of them to sharpen them with its teeth. Jotaro was surrounded by rocks, except for his back, facing the sea monster. Jotaro carefully observed the surroundings and took a chance, he backed a slightly one and a half meter backwards. The floating rocks being shot at him lost velocity quickly, making it easy for Star Platinum to parry them all. He was still out of reach for the sea monster behind him and he decided to verify his chance. He waved his hands in front of him and behind him; both enemies Stand attacks managing to reach his hands but he dodged them, quickly pulling the hands back to his body. This position right here, it’s precisely in between the two Stands but also precisely out of reach for them. Yare yare daze, I feel like I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place… To defeat these starfish could potentially prove quite an easy feat; just pausing time and smashing them apart would probably do. But that would not answer the question as to why they attacked people in the first place. There was also the risk of the starfishes just regenerating and continuing to create mischief. Either way, Jotaro felt the previous attacks of the sea monster getting its grasp on him, most likely some kind of poison. He could not risk a situation with a prolonged fight so he looked around for an optimal way to escape this spot and noticed that the whirlpool around the boat had dissipated. The sea monster was calmly observing him from a distance but the toothfish was still launching rocks toward him in vain, not reaching him with Star Platinum still parrying the rocks. So the ugly fish Stand is the one causing the whirlpool huh? But now it’s busy trying to reach me. Good. Jotaro saw this as an opening and deemed that he had gathered enough information. “Za Warudo! Stop time!” he shouted in the water, not giving a damn about no one being able to hear it. Time paused and he started to make his way to the boat at the surface.
