How do Trkll Guardians get their telepathic abilities?
And how will that work for a synth like Gray?
Does Tal still retain any of Gray's memories, or is synth-Gray literally the sum of said memories removed from Tal?
How has Tal's personality affected Adira's, aside from giving them super-smarts?
Why haven't we seen Counselor Culber advise Gray on how to handle returning from the dead?
What happened to Gray and Adira's biological families? (Was this mentioned onscreen and I just missed it?)

thinking about how many of jadzia's 'unfeminine' qualities are kind of legitimized by them having been curzon's–or one of the other dax's male hosts'–first. interest in klingons, attraction to women, love for gambling, a violent streak, a free-spirited and somewhat reckless nature, sleeping around... an interesting outlier is her taking up martial arts which seems to be a synthesis of curzon's klingon obsession & appreciation of a good fight and emony's gymnastics, particularly the control it gave her over her body and mind. jadzia was a shy and somewhat self-conscious young woman but with great ambition as well. she was incredibly clever and excelled in sciences. but nerdiness is not one of jadzia's prominent qualities once she's joined. is it because it's not 'hot' and in that way even worse than the transgression of being 'masculine' as a woman? is it because as dax jadzia for the first time in her life feels confident enough to be anything else but nerdy? does she know who she really is except a scientist and a joined trill? were all these desires present in jadzia but suppressed? or maybe there is a certain freedom in it: she's worked hard and thought for this, achieved this and now she gets to enjoy being dax. those qualities and desires may not come from jadzia but now they're hers, they're jadzia dax's and she will indulge them.
(I want to be someone else but for it to feel like it's natural. like it is who I am. and jadzia did work for it. just like a person irl works to change themselves).

I've never really understood the obsession some people have with leaving a legacy, but I hope Stamets' little arc about it is going to end with him concluding that the best legacy he can leave is being a good dad to Adira

Obviously there is nuance to it and Odo and Dax don't count as trans for certain benchmarks of representation because a lot of the people making that show thought of them as cis people with some scifi stuff going on but like Odo and Dax are both textually trans there is no other way to understand either of those stories.

it's a shame I don't feel comfortable talking about it here but like. Analyzing joined Trill through an adorcist lens would be so fascinating

Starting a Star Trek adventures campaign on the weekend, this is my main character, Lt. Saif Duran, an Orion formerly of the Borg collective (ie. an "xB"). All his limbs are entirely Borg prosthetics so he wears the skant uniform modified to be sleeveless for an easier fit!

pleasantly surprised at how the gay aspect in rejoined is framed as pretty normal. like theres quark going over and over it and for the rest of it it's more framed as 'they're different People' w not much focus on 'they're different genders'. pleasantly surprised bc 90s Television And bc you wouldn't be faulted for thinking from just the text of like all of preceding star trek that it WOULDN'T be just a normal thing

The notion of a joined Trill counselor (aka Ezri) is so fascinating to me because even if she had wanted to be a joined trill, the notion of going into a profession where you have to engage in a lot of reflection while having several past lives in your memory seems like both a strength and a weakness.
No doubt Ezri has clinical theory to assist her in supporting patients, but now she has so many “lived” experiences that she can use to connect with her patients. Conversely, she’s also inheriting a large amount of emotional baggage, ranging from unresolved feelings to unpleasant and potentially traumatic memories that feel recent despite however long ago they occurred. This is especially true of the Dax symbiont as Ezri has inherited so much grief and hardship from at least three of Dax’s past hosts (Jadzia, Curzon, Torias).
I think Ezri being a counselor helps with processing those feelings in part because she can add her input and guidance to a seemingly growing problem of how to handle these increasing sentiments. It seems like eventually there would be a point where the memories become too much to bear and/or you end up with a host, symbiont, or both being very overwhelmed by their past lives and it’d be better to retire the symbiont before that happens. Part of me who critiques joined Trill culture wonders if Ezri could advocate for retiring a symbiont after a certain amount of hosts, or perhaps such a policy is already in place.

thinking about Ezri Dax and I keep coming back to a part of Stone Butch Blues (spoilers ig) where Jess has her top surgery
it's with a very shady doctor under horrible circumstances, they don't have a room for her and she has to change in a bathroom (which, they don't know which bathroom she should go to), she's immediately sent home after surgery with sore stitches and like a bottle of pills they tell her to take once a day as she gets up in a haze to put on clothes right after waking up and they toss her into an elevator. It's a horrible moment
I don't remember how she went home after that but my point is. Ezri sort of went through that whole surgery in a haze to save the symbiont with consent but how much choice did she have really? it was life or death. And she wakes up thrown into this whirlwind of memories and emotions she is definitely not prepared for, and then they just go 'all right, find your own way around, Dax. See ya' with really no care cause the fact she even exists is kinda shameful to the whole joined trill process. They'd rather just sweep her under the rug than help out
