I just learned that Dracula Daily was a thing, and I'm so excited for it! I mean, I just finished reading the book yesterday, but I will gladly do it again! What a fun way to interact with a classic book such as this! Like a gigantic book club, with a very nice community surrounding it. It's such a good book, probably my favourite in the classic horror genre, and it really deserves the attention it has been getting.
I can't wait to talk to you all about our good friend Jonathan and his business trip abroad

i just love that the entire Dracula Tumblr fandom has decided Jonathan and Mina are both bi.
They might be the only hetero couple we ship, but that doesn't stop us from making it queer!

This is book canon now and nobody can change my mind.
🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
A lot of y'all won't see this edit because of how reblogs work, but I feel it is important to share what I've recently learned about this production:
Mina and Van Helsing are played by the same person.
Thank you and you're welcome. May you all be blessed with crabs.

I made this last year when reading Dracula Daily, but I was too much of a coward to post it. Now I am no longer held back by earthly matters such as "reputation".
This is the original text from the book, but wildly misinterpreted. enjoy

Jonathan, between meals probably: “Are you sure I’m meant to eat an entire garlic bulb as a palate cleanser?”
The locals, sweating, trying their best to low-key vampire-proof this boy: “Yes. Absolutely. Very traditional.”

how dare adaptations make dracula/mina the ship when first of all, jonathan is the obvious gothic heroine of the book, and second of all mina would put the fear of God in dracula for touching her man. she proposed to him as soon as he woke up from his coma and MARRIED him while he was in the sick bed of a catholic hospital, this girl is Not Normal either

What I think: wow I can’t believe the word “hark” means “listen, pay attention” and a major role of the Harkers in the story is to notice important details, record conversations, gather information and otherwise defeat Dracula by listening and paying attention
What I say: my favorite part of Dracula is when the Harkers said “it’s Harkin’ time!” and harked all over the place

something i am utterly obsessed with is the physical copy of dracula that i recently purchased that has , as part of its foreword , some of the original idea notes that bram stoker had about what dracula’s vampiric powers/traits would be.
one of these is that dracula’s likeness cannot be captured in a painting , he always looks like someone else.
which only leads me to imagine a scenario in which the count lines many of his castle hallways with paintings of himself throughout the centuries but none of them look the same and none of them look like him but jonathan can’t help but notice they all somehow look eerily similar.
he brushes it off , assuming they are simply counts of generations past.

May 3rd, Jonathan Harker’s journal
(Mem., get recipe for Mina.) I asked the waiter, and he said it was called “paprika hendl,” and that, as it was a national dish, I should be able to get it anywhere along the Carpathians.
I had for breakfast more paprika, and a sort of porridge of maize flour which they said was "mamaliga," and egg-plant stuffed with forcemeat, a very excellent dish, which they call "impletata." (Mem., get recipe for this also.)
Recipe blog casually interrupted by nightmares and the howling of wild dogs. I’m sure it’s nothing.

Having now gotten to the end of the book, I gotta ask... How on earth did we get here, where in almost every stinking adaptation of this book for over a century has decided the characters worth trimming down or completely cutting out are the two who actually kill Dracula.
