Updates + Wishbone Summary

Just wanted to give you all a quick update: chapter 12 of Resisting the Current is on the way, I promise! I know it's been a little longer between chapters than normal, but to be honest, I took a bit of a break from it over January and spent some time with my other sorely-neglected WIPs. My RTC muse has returned though (yay!) and I've started working on chapter 12, so it should be up (somewhat) soon!

Speaking of my other WIPs, I've been consumed with writing (and constantly thinking about) Wishbone, my swapfell papyrus x reader sans x reader reluctant soulmate fic. I've plotted out the whole thing and written the first two chapters, but I've learnt my lesson from RTC and want to have a bit more of a buffer before I start posting it. But I have written the summary and you can read it below!

Wishbone

Hold tight.

When the barrier fell, the spell preventing humans from using magic broke with it and you, along with your twin, became one of the first mages in a millennia. The monsters emerged from beneath the mountain hungry for retribution against the humans who trapped them there and the newly formed Circle of Mages responded in kind, launching the start of a bloody conflict. 

Three years on, the two factions finally agree on peace terms. You are the Second Mage, subordinate only to the First. You only want one thing: justice for the death of your twin at the hands of a dust-mad monster.

Pull.

When a soulmate bond snaps into place between you and Captain Sans Serif’s brother, Papyrus, your goal becomes harder to pursue. The unfulfilled bond between you and the Captain only complicates things further. Your rage burns, warring with the two new links that have been thrust upon you.

Sacrifice, you find, has many faces, and all of them are looking at you.

Heartbreaking news out of north Gaza today

We write to inform you that renowned journalist Ismail Al-Ghoul and cameraman Ramy El-Rifi of Al-Jazeera were murdered just a few hours ago by the occupation. They were going out to document the scene of another bombing attack, when they were deliberately targeted by the occupation. Footage provided by journalist Osama Al-Ashi in the immediate aftermath of the attack shows that Ismail and Ramy were murdered with targeted precision weaponry, meaning the occupation watched them, waited for them, and executed them in cold blood (warning: graphic footage).

Ismail and Ramy have been documenting the genocide at immense personal cost since the 7th of October 2023. They were previously kidnapped and tortured by the occupation, but survived and continued to remain in north Gaza and document crimes against humanity. They have had many narrow escapes, and today, the occupation was finally successful in its illegal goal of assassinating these prominent journalists.

When western journalists hand-wave their suppression of the IOF’s atrocities in Gaza by claiming no journalists are “allowed” in to report, remember these men. Remind them of these men. These men who lost friends and loved ones, who suffered immensely, and yet chose to remain and continue documenting the genocide against their people. They join the ranks of more than 150 Gazan journalists who were murdered by the occupation to hide its crimes and retaliate for speaking the truth.

Keep fighting for Gaza. Don’t stop talking about north Gaza.

The Homewarming audio reveals and exposes a lot about the neighbors characters. [ANALYSIS]

1.) First things first; The neighbors can interact with the narrator. But considering puppet shows usually involve the puppets interacting with the narrator, (like Sesame Street for example) I don't know if that's a big deal or not.

2.) BARNABY: (Barnaby pipes up at the Narrator.) Hey, keep it down up there! Some of us are tryin’ to do some serious cerebratin’ down here!

^As above, so below reference again.

3.) JULIE: (Whispered.) Frank’s right… Homewarming is about making sure your house is nice, cozy, and toasty. Right before I go to sleep for a very long time, I make a big nest from my bed just like I used to do back home when I was small- A lot of pillows and blankets and leaves and sticks…

^Her background when she used to live in a cave.

4.) HOWDY: Advice?! …You know I don’t got any’a that for sale, Barn! Not unless it’s to buy, buy, buy-!

^Hmmm, consumerism is what he's advocating.

5.) HOWDY: Frank?! (Howdy Scoffs loudly)

^So far, Frank is wary of Wally, Sally is blatantly disrespectful to Eddie, and now we see Howdy possibly doesn't think of Frank as a close neighbor. What's with all the animosity?

6.) HOWDY: That’s right! Trinkets even! It’s about what you give to other folks! The bigger, the shinier, and the more expensive the better! It’s about the razzle and dazzle! Go on, Barn, tell ‘em!

^We see here that Howdy is materialistic- which is odd considering he only asks for a joke in exhange for his services but then we get...this side of him.

7.) Frank said Homewarming is just a home that's warm, Howdy said it was gifts for Home. Sally says Homewarming is about the ambience, decor, and experience. Poppy says it's for dishes.

^Frank is logical- too literal, Howdy is materialistic, Sally enjoys the spotlight, and Poppy is a foodie.

8.) Wally even tossed the slice of poppy-seed ham into the flames and listened for a sound of approval

^Although it's revealed Home preferred the company of Wally and Barnaby instead of all the gifts in the end, this one specific action Wally did seemed oddly...sacrifical. Like offering food to a higher being.

I still don't think Home is an antagonist, personally. My money is still on Playfellow Workshop.

9.) WALLY: (He sounds frustrated and confused.) …How can that be.

^Apparently, Barnaby couldn't hear it but Wally's voice gets distorted when overwhelmed, just like it did when he tried speaking to YOU or...the Question-Answerer.

10.) AND! Eddie was never mentioned, not once, in this audio- which makes me think this is in correlation to the Wishbook audio recording where "Santa Claus" fails to talk about Eddie, and only Eddie.

Update

I’m going to be posting a PWP oneshot later today and after some thought, I’ve decided to make another side blog to post all of my purely smutty stuff.

This blog still won’t be SFW - there’s obviously plenty of adult themes in RTC (and will be more in the other work I have planned) and I have no plans of sanitising or avoiding talking about that here, but it just seems right to put everything that’s just pure PWP in a separate place.

I love the “Up On The Hometop” audio so much, and I wanted to see how Julie does a Sandy Claws look. She plays with her hair so much I figure she’d happily turn it into a big beautiful beard. I wanted to draw her paws too but it wasn’t working with the vision. I WILL draw her paws at some point!

I’m open to constructive criticism on the look! Ya think there’s any details she needs/would be cute?
