The Lotus and His Daoist
Auspicious Moonlight Summary: It started as a simple night stroll, but Dong Fang Yue Chu did not expect his quiet evening to be interrupted by the arrival of a new fairy spirit.
This is a JunZhe verse crossover story between Dong Fang Yue Chu (Gong Jun) and Qing Lian (Zhang Zhehan). Everything is pretty much a figment of my imagination as I know nothing about each individual character or their original story canons. Don’t take anything seriously. 😅
“Such a beautiful, peaceful night.”
A slow, wistful smile crossed Dong Fang Yue Chu’s handsome face as he slowly strolled through the summer night. It was quiet all around, only the sound of cicada song and the occasional rustle of a night creature could be heard. The Daoist had only encountered one other soul on the road, a farmer carrying the first of his modest harvest home, pausing only long enough to give Yue Chu a deep, respectful bow before silently continuing on his way.
Tumblr media
Yue Chu had arrived at the bustling town earlier that evening, travel weary and in need of rest. But as night approached, he had found himself unable to sleep and had instead gone for a night stroll in search of the lake the local townspeople had spoken of so highly earlier that day. The night was pitch dark but the full moon shone brightly in a sky studded with stars. Having left most of his belongings back at the inn, Yue Chu wore only simple robes of white and jade green against the summer heat. As he walked, long, dark wisps of hair stirred about his face with every flick of his wrist and wave of the white fan he held. The road he walked was simple and narrow but well worn by countless feet. He seemed in no hurry, his steps slow and steady.
The wistful smile on his face slowly faded as Yue Chu made his way around a bend and began to approach the often spoken of lake just as thick clouds dimmed the moonlight and deepened the darkness. His footsteps faltered as he clicked his tongue in disappointment, the white fan in his hand stilling.
“Well, it is certainly as vast as they claim,” Yue Chu remarked quietly. “But perhaps a bit underwhelming.”
It was indeed a vast lake, the opposite shoreline too far for even Yue Chu’s keen eyes to see. The dark, clear waters glimmered in the night, reflecting the bright full moon and glittering stars in its mirror-like stillness. But it was, in all other respects, unremarkable, a simple but large body of water surrounded by the dark silhouette of rolling hills.
Not one to be easily deterred, the Daoist decided to make the most of his little night jaunt. The shore was muddy but level, the ground giving way slightly beneath his feet as Yue Chu strolled along the perimeter. A warm breeze wafted, carrying the scents both familiar and foreign as fireflies blinked in the darkness.
A break in the clouds allowed the moonlight to stream through once again. His boots made a suddenly scuffing sound as Yue Chu stopped abruptly, eyes widening at the sight that appeared before him.
“I must take back my earlier assessment,” Yue Chu murmured, a note of wonder in his hushed voice. “This is certainly a sight to behold.”
What Yue Chu had mistaken for small rock formations in the lake was revealed by the moonlight to be hundreds of lotus blooms covering the surface of the lake and stretching as far as he could see were. The flowers ranged in size and color, from a bud of the brightest pink that could sit in the whole of Yue Chu’s palm to one of a pale blush smaller than his littlest finger. Many of the blooms had closed for the night, some receding into the lake waters for their rest. Those that remained above the water line glimmered in the silvery moonlight, undulating gently in the breeze.
Yue Chu walked slowly along the shore, admiring the sight before him. Every now and then, he would stop and lean in closer to inspect a lotus bloom. His eyes followed every detail of the flower as he became mesmerized by the delicate details from the veins in the petals to the deep green colors of the sepals and leaves.
Once again, the Daoist’s footsteps faltered as he caught sight of something quite unusual.
“Oh…aren’t you a beauty. Quite different, aren’t you?”
His robes rustled as Yue Chu knelt down until he was eye level with the pure white lotus bud. The white petals seemed to glow in the darkness; Yue Chu even fancied he could detect a faint humming coming from the flower. Amongst a sea of pink, it stood out sharply atop a vibrant green stalk. It’s color wasn’t the only think unusual about the bloom. Yue Chu could feel a strong sense of power coming from that little white bud; it was sure to be something special one day.
As if in a trance, the Daoist stretched out a hand, long slim fingers reaching for the lotus. It seemed to be calling to him, inviting him. Just when Yue Chu’s fingertip was about to brush a petal, the flower bud quivered. He quickly withdrew his hand, scrambling to his feet as the flower’s glow began to intensify, pulsing gently from within the lotus.
One-by-one, the petals began to unfurl. Yue Chu watched transfixed as the lotus bloomed while being bathed in moonlight. When the petals had fully opened, where a yellow carpal should have been glimmered what looked to be an iridescent pearl. Yue Chu felt a sense of protectiveness overcome him as he gazed upon that pearl. He resisted the urge to reach forward and pluck the peearl from where it was cradled within the lotus petals. He wanted to hold it in his palm, protect it from the world and hide it from sight. Before Yue Chu had a change to act, that pearl pulsed once, twice, and began to rise into the air.
The very stars seemed to dim as the light of the pearl became blinding. The humming from earlier grew louder, vibrating in Yue Che’s ears. As he shielded his eyes against the glare, he thought he caught a glimpse of a human form within the light.
A tiny ‘pop’ was heard, and then the light exploded, casting back the shadows.
When his vision finally cleared, Yue Chu’s breath caught at the sight before him.
Tumblr media
White lotus petals danced in the air, twisting and twirling around a newborn fairy spirit. He was tall and lean, a gracefulness evident in even the slightest movement of his limbs. Dark hair cascaded down his back, a stark contrast to the green and white garments he wore. His face was smooth and slightly pale, with full lips and arched cheekbones. Dark lashes fluttered as he opened his eyes, the large, dark orbs containing small flecks of green in their depths.
The fairy blinked curiously as he gazed about. His eyes eventually settled upon Yue Chu, a look of awe on the Daoist’s face as he stood transfixed on the shoreline. A moment of stillness passed between them, the fairy and the Daoist gazed deep into the other’s eyes.
Slowly, a smile curled Yue Chu’s lips.
“This is becoming quite the auspicious night,” Yue Chu half said to himself. Slowly, he raised his hand, stretching it out towards the still floating fairy. “My name is Dong Fang Yue Chu.” It was dangerous giving his name away so freely, especially to a spirit so new to the world and unaccustomed to even their own power. One miscalculation and he might have just condemned himself to eternal hell. But Yue Chu had little fear; his intuition told him this fairy spirit would not harm him.
The lotus fairy gazed at him, head tilted ever so slightly in consideration.
“Daozhang?” he asked, his voice soft and pleasant to hear.
“If you like,” Yue Chu replied. “Do you have a name?”
The fairy turned his head up towards the moon, his expression becoming intent as if he were listening carefully to something only he could hear.
“Qing Lian,” he said after a moment.
Yue Chu felt something stir in his chest at the name, at the voice, at the eyes that continued to stare so deeply into his. His smile widened as he stretched out his arm further, palm open and inviting.
“A-Lian, would you like to come with me?”
“Where?”
“Anywhere. Everywhere. There is so much to see. Would you like to come and see it - with me?”
He remained still, waiting on that shoreline, a smile upon his face and hand stretched out invitingly towards the fairy. Yue Chu waited and weathered the fairy’s gaze and silence.
Qing Lian’s fingers were cool as he curled his hand around Yue Chu’s. A soft smile formed on his face as he floated down and stood before the Daoist; from this vantage point, he had to raise his chin just the slightest bit to maintain eye contact with Yue Chu. A moment of silence passed between them, a feeling of completeness forming in Yue Chu’s very soul as he stood there with the newborn fairy before him.
“Yes,” was all Qing Lian said as a breeze blew, carrying the scent of lotuses in the night air.

[WOH Concert D2 Shenanigans] - Supporting Cast Appreciation
(Long post ahead)
Dedicated to the entire cast for making the Hug of the Century happen.
Because of the individual skill showcase segment (Day 2) for the supporting casts, we got to witness a whole chunk of sweets as well as their built-up SUPPORT for WenZhou/JunZhe’s hug.
***Whatever they did below are almost/have crossed the line yet they defied and did it, all for WenZhou/JunZhe.
1. Gao Chong / Heizi laoshi
“The love of Wenzhou” (温周之恋)
“Wishing them grow old together” (白头偕老)
*On a side note, he was so good with his skill! I had the exact same reaction as ZZH! For once I felt like my reaction was broadcasted on screen!
Tumblr media
2. Ye Bai Yi / Huang You Ming
Chose the song <A secret that can’t be told> by Jay Chou (不能说的秘密)
Instead of singing from the chorus, he sang the verse straight away before the chorus:
“Rainy days are not the most beautiful, but hiding from the rain with you under a roof is. The most beautiful scene, swinging on the swing, the dream starts to disappear. [Chorus] You said you would...”
The chorus basically is about breaking up so he probably purposely stopped there.
- A secret that can’t be told: Assumed that WenZhou/JunZhe are together
- Rainy days + hiding from the rain with you under a roof: This is a famous CP fans insider knowledge where a group of early CP fans analysed and determined that both of them (during filming) were alone in the same caravan together (just the two of them) to avoid a very heavy rain during the set. They practically spent the entire rainy period alone in that caravan, and it turned out to be true.
*Our ancestor sings well
Tumblr media
3. Xie Er, Scorpion King / Li Dai Kun
Chose the song that he sang in an interview that showcased his raging voice (he sang a gentler version here). <Those risky dreams you have> by JJ Lin (那些你很冒险的梦). When he sang the lyrics:
“Those risky dreams you have,” signals the audience.
“I accompany you to be crazy together” (crazy about having those risky dreams).
Basically he knows that the cpf are all shipping them in their own analysis, stories etc, so he is one of us. (we all know he is ever since his interview)
Tumblr media
4. Du Pu Sa X Qian Qiao / Zhao Xi x Ke Nai Yu
It’s okay to ship same gender together. + It’s okay to show it off. They created their own ship off set hahaha.
*These two beautiful ladies are really sweet too!
Tumblr media
Bonus (not in the individual skills segment but everyone knows)
5. Zhao Jing / Wang Ruo Lin laoshi
“Take away someone’s beloved”
Tumblr media
This whole open shipping by the entire cast caused all the actor/actresses personal staff to be warned, who sternly warned the actors/actresses, who all knew the serious consequences of continuing sailing on stage, had the Director & backstage crew shivering, spent a HUGE sum of money to stop it from blowing up in trending - this would have been CHAOS if it trended.
Despite all these backstage shenanigans, the supporting cast gave both of them the courage to do what they want to do on stage, indirectly.
For the Hug of the Century.

Please now i need to know ending of that dragon junjun and koi hanhan fic 🙏 will they mate for life (in emotional and sexual way)? Will junjun lead his army? Will he be injured and will his husband take care of him and worry very much about him (trying not to betray his worrying to others at the same time)? Will hanhan demand to travel through Dragon's land when they'll warm to each other (but not yet to the point of even kissing)? Will he and zhou yutong become best girlfriends? what will hanhan's and junjun's first kiss be like? what funny traditions do kois and dragons have? and which of the traditions or other cultural elements will shock them (i mean maybe dragons likes to hunt for fun and koi han just. Shocked and frightened. Or something like that). I need to know more!!!
oh my this makes me really happy that you're interested! you actually asked so many questions i hadn't considered before - which is actually really great because i don't generally world build, if i write this it will be my first fantasy from scratch but im feeling quite excited now. So one of the things your questions made me think about was how each of their magics worked. Because ultimately that's the thread that will tie the mating thing and what ive thought of as the ending together (of course hanhan saving his husband in battle) Okay so this is like the culmination of every lore type media I have ever consumed in my life but mostly avatar lol
The source of the dragon's magic is fire. They're not really all that magical outside of their ability to produce fire. And they're mostly focused on destruction and brute strength (though I imagine like the avatar there are connections to fire magic to life that has been lost to the dragons). In order to withstand their own fire, their bodies are extremely hardy, skin hard and impenetrable. They're a warrior tribe primarily because they're very difficult to kill but it's not impossible - like I imagine a small team 3-4 of cultivators at Lan Wangji or Wei Wuxian's level could take a dragon down. They're therefore stereotyped as headstrong, brash and uncaring and maybe in general there is a proclivity towards it but Gong Jun is absolutely none of those things and it causes a lot of misunderstandings with Zhehan who keeps interpreting Gong Jun's actions under the lens of pride.
On the other hand, the Koi's derive their magic from water. On the surface they're using water to heal due to the strong connection of water to life. At the core of it what they do is use water as a conduit to manipulate life energy. While even most of the Koi think that healing is all they can do, it can actually be very destructive as well because they can infuse life with water (to heal) but they can also steal life using water (how Zhehan will save his husband). Due to the magnitude of destruction Koi magic can cause - its not really practical for a battle field you'd end up destroying everything including your own people/allies - this knowledge is really only passed down in the ranks of royalty. So Zhehan is aware but Xiao Yu and SuSu are not. This is also why they 'mate for life'.
The emotional bond you form through love will permanently intertwine your life energies. This does happen to some extent with any strong relationship like families and friends but not to the extent that happens with your mate. I think sexual connection can deepen the bond though not on its own. When your mate dies, it affects your life energy and therefore your ability to do magic. In extreme cases, it can cause the koi's death but mostly they just turn into shadows of their former self. It's quite a tragic fate and why Zhehan's sacrifice was SUCH a big deal among the Koi. Their rituals around love and mating and sex are a lot more elaborate. Dragons are like humans in this regard, they date, they breakup it's all chill.
Zhehan and Gong Jun will mate for life. I don't think Zhehan has much of a choice, he falls in love with Gong Jun long before they have sex, maybe even before they first kiss. But obviously Gong Jun does and continues to have that choice all through their time together. He chooses Zhehan anyway. Because if you really think about it, yeah Zhehan can't really take back choosing Gong Jun but he does choose him. Their love is beautiful and deep though I don't think either of them acknowledges it until all (ie The War) is said and done.
They have maybe like a few months together before JunJun is first deployed. They use absolutely all this time being awkward and in denial. JunJun does keep getting injured and Zhehan keeps healing him. This is probably how they develop any sort of physical closeness because thus far Gong Jun is Very Serious about The Promise. Which Zhehan finds both endearing and frustrating.
I think Gong Jun kisses him for the first time during one of these, let me bandage your wounds moment 🥺🥺🥺 and then spends like the next ten days RIDDLED with guilt.
Zhehan's first Dragon friend is probably Xu Kai because they work at the clinic together sometimes. And Xu Kai unlike Gong Jun is very open and friendly. Probably the reason Zhehan doesn't choose Xu Kai in the beginning is because he could totally see himself falling in love with Xu Kai and Zhehan Very Much wants to return home after The War (well that plan doesn't really work does it lol).
Zhehan interacts with Zhou Yutong mostly through the academy and because of Xiao Yu and Susu who have more permanent postings there and are therefore friends with her. I think their relationship is a little complicated in the beginning. Zhehan is an ardent admirer of her beauty and capability, her warmth and patience in dealing with students. She feels entirely too perfect, graceful and soft in a way Dragons are generally not but also fierce and intimidating.
Zhehan doesn't really get why she's a little cold and awkward towards him. She's not in love with Gong Jun, not really. Their relationship was on the rocks before the marriage alliance was a thing. Otherwise, Gong Jun would never abandon her just to fulfill some stupid duty that others could fulfill as well. But the summons for it seemed like just another sign and ultimately she encourages him to pick up the gauntlet.
She hadn't really thought Gong Jun would get picked though. Yes, he's super handsome but the other two aren't hard on the eyes either. And they both make infinitely better first impressions than Gong Jun does. She's rattled because she thought she'd have more time to adjust to her new relationship status before having to witness the marriage of her very recent ex. Gong Jun and Zhehan's awkwardess does make her happy but she feels bad about it and eventually gets over it and becomes bffs with Zhehan.
I'm going to stop here due to length but I'll post some more about the character dynamics later. The Xu Kai - Zhehan - Gong Jun triangle fills me with joy.

Hello I wached this video ten times and had so many feelings about it - it manifested itself into a a junzhe drabble, g rated.
-
Miracle.
It feels like a miracle.
A year ago, Gong Jun didn’t know if he could ever make it in the in this industry. People called him too nice and too sincere, half compliment but half a jab into his waning confidence.
A year ago, Gong Jun didn’t know if he could ever find love. His weird hours, lengthy location shoots and lack of privacy – who would put up with it? Who would understand him? Who could possibly agree to being kept a secret?
Days stretched into one another, one long endless existence of aching emptiness and mediocrity.
Then Shan He Ling happens.
Suddenly both love and professional success fall into his lap in one fell swoop.
It’s a miracle.
It’s so, so cruel.
When Gong Jun is in love, he wants people to know. He wants to be the one to tell them. He wants to be that friend that everyone rolls their eyes at for steering every conversation to talk about their significant other.
Gong Jun doesn’t know where else to put his heart if not on his sleeve. Masks are so tiring, and he tries to channel his energy into living instead, into work and family and friends. His heart waits on his sleeve and every time he has to pretend he’s single, hear yet another producer saying – do not bring him up – or talk about his ideal woman, it withers just a little bit more.
Zhehan is good at caring for Gong Jun’s heart, he’s good at caring for Gong Jun, he’s good at soothing Gong Jun’s aches and make it all worth it. Sometimes Gong Jun wonders how Zhehan does it. He’s jealous that Zhehan is stronger than him, insecure that it just doesn’t mean as much to him.
Gong Jun knows what its like to be alone.
He never wants to be alone again.
And then Zhehan will shyly play ‘this new verse I’ve been working on, do you want to hear’ and the sincerety of Zhehan’s feelings will shatter through his heart.
Gong Jun can’t sing.
He can’t write.
He can’t draw.
He can only pretend to be other people, even when he’s himself.
Pretend that he’s not in love with Zhehan.
Pretend until his love can only grows and expands within the too-small cage of his chest. Sometimes it catches onto his throat and chokes him.
Sometimes when he sees the crinkle of Zhehan’s eyes around a smile, Gong Jun thinks he can take a hammer to everything else he’s built just to see it one more time. Just for Zhehan’s soft gaze to stay on him, belong to him for even a moment longer.
In moments of weakness when he talks back to his manager, he can see the frustrated lines of her face, her guilt at making him hide. Gong Jun feels bad, he knows she cares about him but every time she reminds him he’s an adult he feels a flash of satisfaction at her suffering.
Gong Jun was a timid teenager, worried about his future, studying but still not understanding, wondering what someone as stupid as him was even supposed to do. If his stalled rebellion phase must rear its head, then adulthood seems just a good time as any.
Success feels wonderful for all the three seconds it takes him to read weibo’s top trends. Then the crescendo falls, oddly anticlimactic.
Gong Jun thinks he should feel bad, for not wanting it after having wanted it so long, knowing the hordes of people who covet it. Gong Jun feels bad for wanting it just enough to keep going.
But when Zhehan’s hand is warm in his, impeccably moisturized, smelling faintly of lavender, he knows he would do anything to keep it there.
Gong Jun struggles to feel bad about it.

Damn you for pushing your first wife Merxhat agenda lmao I don't even likes ot3s/cheating! If i remember correctly you wanted to try to write omegaverse so consider this: Very jealous second omega in harem JunJun (who is very spoiled by his parents and friends and servants and Zhehan. He is not asshole you know but kinda very bratty. Oh and he's veeery controlling and needs to know everything about everyone at any given moment (because he'll become super anxious if he doesn't know something). Scheming, planning to kill first omega, drinking a lot if vinegar. Zhehan taming him with something like babe you cannot kill anyone please but everything else except this is allowed ❤️ (this whole situation just busts his ego). Featuring himboying alpha Zhehan. Sub alpha. Service alpha. Very soft especially with his omegas alpha. Featuring (actually very competent in the sense that he is very good at fulfilling his duties of keeping the house in proper shape and distributing finances and in general everyone loves him and he has a kind nature) first omega Merxhat. Happy ending where JunJun and Mi Re will go a long way but they will begin to understand and truly respect each other. Idk what is this honestly hope you at least will find joy in this mess of a text
OH I FOUND SO MUCH JOY FROM THIS ASK!!!!!!!!
Isn't that video ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL - laopo is such a slut he even did silly dancing where he keeps pulling on his partner's hand with Merxat FIRST and it's just so precious that Merxat got his debut with slutpo 🥺🥺🥺 - So many firsts together 🤧🤧🤧 I wonder what else Merxat did first - does he call Zhehan dage too?
slutpo and firstwife!merxat ftw!!!!!
brat!omega and softtop!alpha is the exact dynamic i see for omegaverse junzhe except in the reverse hahahaha BUT I am certain that Second Omega JunJun would poison First Omega Merxat out of sheer jealousy.
And then Zhehan has to punish Gong Jun because the complaint has come up through official channels - ie Merxat is VERY aware of Zhehan's slutpo tendencies and knows that he won't get justice otherwise. But now Zhehan is afraid that the harem (let's just put Zhang Sifan and Jackson and Xu Kai in there for funsies because why not???) will turn against his silly, misguided baby boi JunJun.
So he visits his beautiful magnificent First Wife That Night and sweetly coaxes him into giving JunJun a chance.
'He's so young, my dearest. So immature. He is in need of your guidance. You are the most beautiful (LIES and Merxat KNOWS he's being manipulated) and the most graceful, there's so much for him to learn' (and yes!!! in this verse they are all exactly the age they are in RL!!!)
Then ZH follows that up with like 10 orgasms for Merxat so he's too blissed out to argue.
Happy Ending in that both Merxat and JunJun begrudgingly learn to live together but even if there's an eventual successful poisoning I still think they had a threesome :))))))
