what louis did to lestat and what louis did to armand are connected and that's important to the story but also. it is simply not the same. nothing louis did excuses armand's behaviour, that's not how anything works, but he did not "cross a line" or "poke at armand," he weaponized armand's history of abuse to belittle and demean him. nothing armand said to louis came close- the equivalent would have been "oooh, i'm such a stupid bitch that my husband can beat me half to death and i'll keep crawling back for more even when it endangers my daughter!" it's retraumatizing and deeply destabilizing to hear that shit from your partner. and in response armand should have been like "well this man sucks when he's high and he's high all the time, so i'm bouncing" but if he'd done that we wouldn't have a story, would we?

edit: i've come back to give armand credit for "claudia didn't love you like we did/do. ps. u used her to distract from your own hurt feelings" that shit does hit in a similar way. however "the ways someone hurt you have left you contemptible and weak. they scrawled 'dirty and annoying' all over your soul in red ink and it's never coming off" is just outstanding work. timeless

The crazy thing about it is again 1) it was the most ubiquitously popular anime on a global scale possibly ever like I still cannot believe the degree to which Fucking Everyone was watching it (or at least aware of it) anime fan or not and it really did seep into popular culture in a way few other anime have managed to do even with only one goddamn season at the time and 2) obviously a lot of alt-right freaks very uncritically worship the show for reasons that are obvious without even watching it just from knowing the recurring criticisms but I've definitely also seen at least a few instances of people who would consider themselves. Lefties in whatever form who are very aware of all of its problems and still vouch for it as a complex and well written narrative or whatever and clearly derive a very polar opposite interpretation of what the story is actually saying so it feels very. *touches the ground* Something fucking happened here

ive learned that my number one pet peeve for live recordings from fans are videos where they only record the vocalist. it is incredibly annoying to ignore the rest of the band. even more annoying when there's an instrumental break or a solo and the camera stays on the vocalist.

if it was just a singer thats the artist, then i'd understand. but when the band is the artist, you better show me the fucking musicians from time to time too
