I think a good summary of boyfriend farmer is if a sitcom husband was competent and empathetic. He acts like a big silly dopey guy around you, tripping over himself when you smile. You're his favourite person, and it's obvious to anyone who sees him. He thinks you're the catch of the century - he won't admit it, but he always considered you out of his league.

Every time he tries to be serious, he remembers he's dating you, this is real, you actually like him as much as he likes you. Then he gets fluttery and silly all over again.

The first person he told that you were dating was his favourite goose. THEN he told Papyrus.

It takes a while to get him comfortable enough to commit, you'd have to already be pretty close beforehand to become a couple. So the only real difference in your interactions will be that he's now got an excuse to be as physically affectionate as he wants. ok so I haven't done an insane and pointless landoscar post in a while so !!

I blurted most of this to @mecachrome and needed to like ground myself abt it but like.

Lando allowing himself to oscillate between extremes of Taking Your Affection For Granted/Being an Absolute Menace and Please Look at Me/Please Tell Me I'm Important to You is smth we only see him do w very very specific people. he's got to feel very secure that their attention and patience w him go hand in hand. namely we know of Max F, Jon, some of Lando's karting friends, and now Oscar. with literally everyone else he makes an effort to soften or balance himself and fit their energy (which tbh is how most of us are w friends and colleagues). but Lando is not Just Anyone and Not Just Some Guy so there's a special extra sector of friendship and affection there to be achieved if someone has the desire to.

and somehow to me it's like, Lando realizing so early on that Oscar really really really knew him and then gradually realizing that Oscar was continuing to study and learn him, it basically jumped his feeling of safety around Oscar to a degree he normally only feels around ppl he's known for a very long time.

and that a peruse through these two tags it becomes clear that Lando feels secure in putting Oscar through the paces of Lando's least happy and amenable moods possible. bc !! Oscar just smiles through it and doesn't get offended and almost sort of pushes through it as if to say you're not going to annoy me away mate, I've decided we're friends and that's it.

bc it's a test he knows Lando does when he's decided you're a Safe Person. like in Bahrain and Lando jokingly goes ugh! hi Oscar! and IMMEDIATELY switches to Osc bc he's in a Mood about having to discuss Bahrain as if they possibly could've learned much about the car yet and there's nothing rly to discuss but he doesn't want to take it out on Oscar … and then ! Oscar sees the pout on Lando's face, ignores everyone else and does this lean in and starts teasing Lando abt the repetitive questions they're being asked ! and Lando ! breaks out into this big smile and his mood just lifts !! bc Oscar knows exactly what to do !

and somehow that's all tied into how insanely clingy they both were at the start of the season and Lando esp was going a bit crazy with posting and reposting and commenting on content with Oscar or him and Oscar and how he felt this need to explain to Oscar why he went to see Daniel and not him bc wowwww he rly missed Oscar and the way Oscar just watches him and laughs at all his jokes and doesn't ask Lando to Be Anything Other than Himself bc Oscar takes the good and the bad bc it's Lando! Oscar had folded Lando into his life long before they even knew they'd be teammates!

which parallels the end of season video in Abu Dhabi or the Saudi post race video 'Straya Mate' and Lando is about to jump out of his skin to get Oscar to look at him !! and in those moments Oscar is a combination of tired and rly not enjoying media but Lando canNOT HANDLE when Oscar isn't watching him and Oscar seems sort of fed up with cameras so he STARES at Oscar's face and wriggles around and builds up to jokes bc he just needs to see himself having that effect on Oscar! and Oscar never lets him squirm for long and caves in to any joke Lando makes no matter how bad. and all of that fits so much w the sort of "soft dom" moments where ultimately, Lando views Oscar as one of the few people in his life who will Take Care of Him and who Knows What Lando Needs. but also !! it's a return of what Oscar does for Lando!

bc we've all seen him be like this w Max F and Jon and how no matter what flavor of Lando gets thrown at them - sweet or sour - they know just how he works and would never ever betray that level of trust by getting bored or disinterested or fed up with him. Max definitely has the most ability to scold Lando to order but tbh that happens v rarely and mostly he just mutters to himself or the camera and totally folds to Lando anyway.

but the difference is that Lando has years of proof on his side w Max and Jon and the other ppl he feels like this with. Oscar however is still a New Friend and he's got this whole settled, grown up life outside racing and Lando's relying a whole lot on the degree of commitment to McLaren that Oscar has shown again and again. they have friends in common and a drift compatible bond as teammates but they don't broadcast their interactions like most drivers do w other drivers so who knows how much Oscar has integrated in Lando's life outside of that? and I can only imagine Lando does NOT cope well with losing people he's brought into that degree of trust even tho from what we know he's never had that happen. but Oscar is so self-contained and reserved about the deeper parts of his personality so all of us sure can't say exactly how he'd react to him or Lando going to another team and you wonder how much Lando does ??

and godddd then we got this little glimpse into their natural dynamic and I end up finding myself hoping especially for Lando's sake that their friendship keeps getting stronger over the years they both know they have for sure together bc it's feels v safe to say that Oscar being someone else's teammate and not being Right There throughout the season would not be good for Lando !! </3

This one is my all-time favorite Cobymeppo fic. It was one of the first I found and it's one I still think about and revisit often

Grow - Eloarei

Helmeppo is able to take care of himself, but when his father returns home with a promotion, he finds he suddenly doesn't have to anymore, and that's the weirdest part about moving to the Marine base in Shells town. Without any responsibilities, he becomes bored, and any of the positive attitude his mother might have left him with goes straight out the window.

This is a really sweet fic about Helmeppo's initial time in the Marines. Not as overtly Cobymeppo, but the last little bit always gets me right in the feels.

The Way of Monsters - Eloarei

Coby was used to monsters. After years under Alvida he thought he understood them. But escaping out into the world shows him that there's a lot he doesn't know. What makes a monster? And what redeems one?

This one's very fun. It has werewolves, and is a bit of a Beauty and the Beast kind of tale. Highly Recommend.

What had started as a rare bartering chip back when they themselves were new recruits and every drill had left them quaking like newborn deer had shifted into a standard IOU or repaid-favour, and from there, eventually, had simply become… habit. After their midnight training sessions left them fatigued, they would crawl back to their barracks, where Helmeppo would scratch Coby’s back and Coby scratched his - quite literally. That’s just how they got through it. It had been a while, though, come to think of it. Their schedules had grown to be quite different since Coby’s promotion. He still got the occasional remedial massage from medical, but it just wasn’t quite the same as someone who knew his body as well as Meppo did.

Very good fic, but also I think of the tag 'formal apology to the one (1) cobymeppo shipper with an appetite for toes reading this with dismay' at least once a week.

General headcanons :

- They one hundred percent had the Barbie mugshot but with Velvet's deadly stare instead

- and Veneer made sure he looked good; they are taking a picture after all

- I think Velvet might be a little taller than Veneer but they're both taller than average

- never leaves the house without heels or platforms or both

- Veneer has must-be-wearing-a-crop-top syndrome. Can't be cured 😔 

- I'm sorry but they totally sang Circus by Britney Spears. That song is so V&V coded and has female and male vocals too 😩

- The sass is too hard to contain for this duo. Once a sly thought appears in their mind, they have to voice it (but I'm not complaining. They're iconic) 

- Veneer can be a little blunt or rude sometimes. I know ppl like to imagine him as just the caring and silly sibling but he did everything Velvet did. He just had morals that started to kick in once the threat of being a killer was thrown at him. 

(I mean did you see him nearly just toss Floyd down the toilet 💀)

- of course, I still think he is silly and kind and chooses to do so for a fair portion of the time but he's no stranger to being ignorant to most of his wrongdoings as well

- and I think they both have some trauma from practically killing Floyd. GET THEM THERAPYYY

- I think Velvet would like decorating and making things ✨Aesthetic✨

- like a little journal that she'd write her feelings in and then fill with beautiful stickers and photos (totally not a burn book....) 

- I think Poppy would love love looove to see Velvet's journal filled with beautiful stationary. She'd probably get her into scrapbooking and they'd make the cutest little displays or books just brimming with photos, cutouts, diagrams, and more. 

-Poppy and Viva can be a little overwhelming for Velvet at first but they'd totally become great gal pals and just chat all day. 

- and at first, Bergen features might be a little....alarming to Velvet but she'd learn to love Bridget just like Poppy does

-also both are invited to the broppy wedding... 👀

- she also of course become friends with the BroZone brothers but I get more into that below ⬇️

"Story" headcanons :

- So for Velvet, I think in the movie she was so blinded by her need for fame and luxury that she didn't notice how her family (Veneer) helped her and stuck around through all the things she said and did. This would separate her from being just a complete villain because I do believe that she can reform herself into something better

- In Jail, I think Velvet would really hate it and everyone around her. She probably wouldn't want to talk to Veneer at all at first but being alone might give her time to reflect on herself

- over a little time, I think she'd realize how Veneer was always there for her and understood her ways. She'd definitely come back around and they'd be back to being as close as they were before, maybe even more

-It would take some time for both Velvet and Veneer to adjust. 

- Veneer would dislike jail very much. He's so used to his life of luxury that I'm sure he'd be surprised by how little you get behind bars

- and with Velvet wanting to be alone, he would probably feel more alone than ever

- but he knows he did the right thing and even though prison sucks, he'd get through it

- Veneer would probably try to make friends with some of the people there but it is prison soo.... I'm not sure how well that would go. 

- if anyone came to visit him, he'd be so happy cuz jail is sooo boring and he'd finally get to yap away to somebody who knows him.

- you just know they'd be styling that prison jumpsuit the best the can

- can you sneak heels into jail??

- Velvet and Veneer are kinda "eye candy" for the criminals in jail and they might get targeted by those who are jealous or looking for a fight

-Velvet's not the only one with an attitude problem, Veneer can very well relay a comment or two that can easily get them into some trouble. He'll have to work on that along with his sister, learn how to correctly treat the people around them

 - After they become besties again, they'd have each other's backs like never before. I think Velvet really really does care about Veneer and if anything ever happened to him, she'd be devastated. This time, she'd really like to treat him how he deserves and nurture that sibling bond. 

- and you know once anyone throws hands with one sibling, the other comes swinging

- not the best thing to do if you want to get out of jail fast but hey, nobody messes with twins and gets away with it

- Due to other more serious situations being forgiven in the past, I think Velvet & Veneer wouldn't be in prison for too long. I can easily see BroZone forgiving them and offering to help the twins with whatever they'd need

- Veneer would definitely become great friends with Floyd and even Bruce. After all, he knows what it's like to be sensitive and a heartthrob 😌

- and I can see Velvet relating to Branch and J. D. She's probably a control freak (or was) and always wants everything to be perfect, just like John Dory. - @horrorartist23 did a couple of drawings of Velvet & Veneer(or maybe just Ven idk) working at Bruce's Beachside Bar and I LOVE THAT IDEA SO MUCH.

- ESPECIALLY since Bruce said his family was a total Veneer household. I think it would be so cute for not only his kids getting the chance to meet Vel&Ven but also for Vel&Ven to get a little bit of real work experience.

- it would be so good for them to work at a place like that to learn about themselves and a work environment.

- plus the whole island is gorgeous and pretty luxury, which would fit into they're ideal environment. AND everything is Rageon sized so they don't have to worry about being too big!!

- They'd literally be working hard and making it look easy 💀

- I think it's perfect and I love it

-after jail and therapy, I think Velvet would really love the life she has. She'd of course still make mistakes sometimes and her sass will never leave. That's just who she is and none of us would want to change that . But she'd have a way healthier mind and so would the people around her. 

- I think both of them might want to actually learn how to sing and dance like real performers 

- Velvet hates making mistakes or not being perfect at a skill immediately. I know how that is and it's really difficult to get past but with more encouragement from Veneer and even the Brozone brothers, she'd become the star she always knew she was. 

- And Veneer would take initiative for himself and practice performing like a real idol. I feel Veneer would also struggle with wanting perfection immediately but I think he'd really fall in love with dancing and this would help him keep up the determination. And he'd be really good at it too after some practice

- Knowing how good they can be if they put in the work would be a huge motivator too. Cuz they only stole Floyd's talent, not his voice. And because of this Velvet knows that she sounds good when she's at her peak in skill. They know that they can be amazing, they just have to work for it this time 

-Trying to become famous again for the right things would definitely be hard. They're reputation is awful

- BUT, I think Mount Rageous would give them a chance to prove themselves. Considering how all Rageons are obsessed with media, fame, and celebrities, I think they couldn't resist the bait of former popstars Velvet & Veneer coming back to the stage, this time with their own talent that they've truly worked hard to perfect. 

- And they'd deserve it for how much work they put into reforming their lives. 

- Plus, nobody can take away their love for the stage and performing. They're too iconic to forget 💅

- and you know I'd be keepin' my eye out for that V&V/BroZone collab 🌟

- First live performance with BroZone, Velvet and Veneer are getting their Perfect Family Harmony. And you can bet it will be the most amazing thing to ever grace the planet

volume vii thoughts

as per usual I have complaints about the missed opportunities of casa

first things first, the casa boys' sprites looked bad to me when I saw that post fusebox made but after playing for like a minute, I was like nah actually they're quite fine. However, prettiest sprites they're competing with are Jin, Claudia, Oakley, Tyler, and Bea so the competition is rough. Also idk something is throwing me off with Shawn and especially Kyle's face shapes.

I think last post I made I said Hari at least got more of a chance than Tyler, but scratch that actually, it feels like they got the same chance because suddenly we're in casa and hardly any mention of him, even though he and my MC have kissed a few times already and she hasn't really rejected him fully over Jin yet? Don't know if anyone's in the boat of going all in with Hari but I'm curious what the gameplay is like for them.

So Emel has randomly decided to be annoyed at Oakley again (I'll replay for you next time Oakley 🥺) and it's clearly because the routes are merged now, which is such a shame because I do think Emel and Oakley could've worked it out and become a fun couple to watch on the real show (probably a boring one though that the audience would dump until after the show ended that their real personalities come out on social media and the public like them individually or at least understand why they were together so long). And I know it's not the most in character thing but I so appreciate it not being a complete 180 for the sake of plot because I'm trying to imagine this with all the couples given what I know about them from my playthrough and Emel/Oakley always have problems because she's uptight and wants more dramatics in their romance and he's chill so any little thing he ends up doing sets her off, sure, I can buy that Emel is a little delusional. Then Luna/Jin would have problems because Luna is less extroverted than Jin, serious, and irritable (which honestly, relatable) and so Jin does things for a laugh and she doesn't get it. So maybe he didn't wink at Bea or did it as a joke because he's being cheeky and she takes it as flirting and starts an argument. And from my playthrough, Sophie and Jack always feel like they're looking for an argument so that checks out too. It's not perfect, but I can feasibly see how one could justify this plot point.

pet peeve subjective raunchy races is back 😠 at least a couple of them are better, like they did have oldest boy in there at least. everything else though, I don't care that much to listen to them argue about who's the most well traveled or stylish.

I love Bea's personality, she's so fun. And tbh, I'm kind of liking her and Liam together. He's forward and she's into it, and it seems like he can keep up with her for now so I'm happy with that couple and I hope it doesn't turn to shit (it probably will).

also pay to win when losers are gonna throw a part anyway ok sure 🙄 I think I've mentioned this before but like personally I think if they're gonna do gem scenes, there has to be a logical ways out of it rather than just MC being like "nah I don't feel like it" and then they lose?? at least for other gem scenes it's like "tell Sophie off 10 gems" or "stay silent" like sure that's fine I guess.

anyway the chats with the boys were actually all pretty fun and short. I, as per usual, have immediately gravitated towards the foodie/chef character but I'll admit I see what y'all are saying about Kyle. Tbh even Max isn't too bad but I'm cautious bc I'm getting Eddie vibes (it's the blond and the gossip lol). And I like Liam, he's like a less cartoonishly silly Hamish (so he reminds me of Felix).

I really like the free party wear dress and this is the second volume in a row MC has accidentally matched with a boy not her partner lol

Bea first mentioning she was bi but not flirting, I just thought maybe they were setting her up to partner with Claudia/Theo depending on who you couple up with/if you're on one of their routes. But then oh the tension at the party when she's staring at MC saying she wants to turn heads and Claudia getting nervous??? loving that.

I don't know what it's like for the other boys but it seems like Shawn and Kyle are drama averse, which I think could be an interesting plot point for later coming back from casa of course, but I also don't know if I believe in fusebox's ability to incorporate that in the story. (once again, the day I write a fic and learn to code its all over for you fusebox)

I didn't pay for the Bea talking about Jin scene but I saw yall talk about Sienna and like I doubt it's going anywhere if it's behind a paywall? it's like the Brad and Christy stuff tbh like unless a bunch of dumped islanders are coming back at the end, I'm ignoring it.

YAYY OK SO. (side note i only just came up with this today so its not THATt fleshed out but ive been thinking about it like all day so i have many ideas)

so like. it all starts w vanessa. basically when she was really young her parents worked for fazcorp technologies (au equivalent of oscorp) and idk. they die for reasons related to their work there. Who knows whatever its really not important to the au. anyway so vanessas parents r dead now and she moves in with her aunt and uncle in typical spider-man fashion ykyk. eventually shes grown up and when shes in college shes becomes an intern at fazcorp technologies' lab. at the end of her internship she secretly goes to the main room where theyre genetically modifying animals. i guess shes curious bc thats what her parents had been working on before they died. she mainly notices the giant tube of spiders they were working on and she ends up walking right up to the spiders, to take a look and as she gets really close, one crawls on her and bites her. she didnt realize she got bit but thats what makes her get out of there. Anddd thats how nessa becomes spider-van (working name) :3

shes the citys 1 and only spider-van for maybeee 4 years after that point? she graduated just a couple of months after grtting spider powers. also she lives with tape girl btw and they were roommates in college too. after like the first year tape girl (i havent named her yet siiighh) finds out ness is spidervan and she basically becomes her tech assistant. her girl in the chair if u will

anyway so ness has been spidervan for 4 years at this point. and then theres gregory who is just some guy rn :3 hes not spidey yet . one day he and cassie r on a class field trip to the fazcorp tech lab and they get bored so they sneak off and end up in a room with a bunch of different genetically engineered spiders in their own little boxes but one of them is Not in the box bc ig aomeone forgot to close it. andd it bites gregory and greg feels it but he doesnt see it but cassie DID see it and they start freaking out . its kinda funny. andthey do not take him to a hospital nor tell anyone bc they r dumb teenagers and he "feels fine" . so whatevsss they sneak back to where everyone else was on the field trip. andd then they just go home like nothing happened. until the next day when suddenly gregs spider powers manifest and cause HELL at school. yada yada he now has powers and no clue what hes doing with them

ANYWAY SOOO soon enough something happens and gregory meets spider-van by pure chance and she realizes that somehow this kid has pretty much the same powers as her (they got bit by different kinds of spiders so theyre not identical powers) and she offers to teach him how to control his powers so theyre not messing things up all over the place which turns into a mentorship of sorts and that evolves into him becoming a hero right with her ^_^

I'm sick and tired of people acting like a ship has to be canon for it to be enjoyable!

No! It doesn't!

Sure, it might be an added bonus, but it's not the be all and end all of its enjoyability!

Chances are, if you go into it with the mind set "My ship has to be canon or else I will be angry, and anyone who disagrees is wrong", it's not going to be very fun for you or for anyone else in the fandom.

But if you go into it with the mindset "This ship is nice and I really think the characters should end up together, but I recognise that it might not become canon, and that's ok", then most likely it will be a lot more fun for you and anyone you interact with!

Also, the creators of whatever media your ship is from do not owe it to you to make the ship canon no matter how much evidence you have or how much chemistry you think the characters have, ok? They're just trying to tell a story, and getting angry with them is utterly pointless. At the end of the day, the plot is usually the most important aspect of any piece of media. I'd much rather have a satisfying ending to the plot than to see my ship become canon, wouldn't you agree?

Perhaps I'm biased since most of the media I consume is more focused on plot and characters/platonic relationships so there's next to no chance of any of my ships becoming canon, but that's ok!! I know that some ships mean a lot to some people, but I guarantee you that you will have more fun sharing theories and headcanons and fanart and fics or whatever with other people who enjoy the ship than you will ever have seeing the ship become canon.

And a lot of the time when a ship is made canon it's still disappointing because it didn't happen exactly how you expected or wanted it to happen. At the end of the day the characters' fates are up to the creators, so if you really don't like that a certain ship was/was not made canon, or if it was made canon in a way you didn't like, then why not try writing fanfiction? Or, better yet, why not try writing your own original story? That way literally everything is up to you!

I guess another thing I'm trying to say here is that fighting over ships is absolutely useless. It accomplishes nothing, and usually it's just a case of two people having different views on a certain character. But guess what? That's what's supposed to happen! It's fiction, which means none of the characters are real, which means everyone can interpret the characters and their actions differently! It's really interesting seeing everyone's different views and interpretations of the source media! And wouldn't it be kind of boring if everyone just had the exact same opinions on every character and ship?

Just because you believe a character has romantic feelings for another character, that doesn't mean that everyone else has to believe that too, and it doesn't matter if it's canon or not because it's your opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it contradicts your own.

To summarise:

A ship being enjoyable is not dependent on whether it's canon or not. Instead, it's totally up to you to make it as enjoyable as you can by interacting with others who ship it, or even by discussing it with people who have opposing views! And don't be upset if your ship isn't canon! :)

Also, don't start ship wars because they're stupid.

Ok so I feel like many people on here have not read the Good Omens book. Please, it's a really good, very easy read. Take a few minutes here and there to take it in and you will absolutely fall in love (and have a better understanding of the material used to spring board into S2)!

Starting with:

Their bodies are called corporations and they use this to interact with humanity on Earth. They may present mostly as men but they are actually genderless. If they really wanted to be for real men, then they need to Make An Effort. Which at least at the time of the book's ending, neither angel nor demon had any interest in Making An Effort.

Crowley presents younger than Azira! Imagine a 2005 David Tennant playing Crowley with Michael Sheen's Azira still looking his delicious 54. I think the whole of Tumblr would still be trying to recover.

Crowley had black hair in the book! And he was much more snakey too. David Tennant doesn't walk the way he does just because. Snakes don't really have hips so Crowley has to work at the whole bipedal thing. And those snakeskin boots? Take a second look, cuz they get fleshier the longer you stare.

Azira in the book is shown to be even more of a bastard. He made mobsters disappear whenever they tried to threaten him to hand over his business!

The book helps the audience understand just how out of touch Crowley and Azira are from humanity. They enjoy their vices in the way that tourists will visit a Caribbean island, consume every touristy thing available, but not think twice about the islanders' everyday realities. For example, Crowley's car never has gas because he doesn't really understand how cars work. Both angel and demon will get in and out of drunkenness as it's convenient for them. Crowley doesn't eat. Ever. And he sleeps through bad/boring times. In the book he slept through thr 19th century. That's the 1800s! The Industrial Revolution just tossed aside without a care. And if you didn't catch it in the show, they were not thinking of humanity when they agreed to help each other out. Azira was actively tempting. Crowley was actively performing miracles. They had a quota to fill and whoever was closest to the assignment took over for the other. Also the book had a lot of instances where humans/animals were (comical) collateral damage to their shenanigans. The closest to something similar I saw in the show was in S2 with Nina and Maggie getting stuck in the coffeeshop because Crowley threw a temper tantrum.

Book Crowley was loved in hell! Crowley took responsibility for a lot of humanity's own short comings and got commendation after commendation for it.

Book The Them did a much better job of visually linking themselves to the Four Horsepeople of the Apocalypse. For example, book Pepper was a redhead with something to prove to show that she would become War under Adam's Apocalypse. The show could have done a better job at this. (Take a second and imagine Tati Gabrielle as War to better align with the show's Pepper. That would have been amazing).

Can anyone else think of anything that's in the book but not the show? Or maybe something that's in the show but not well explained?

Hello, I have a genuine question, especially for trans people since you are the most affected, regarding Harry Potter fan fiction.

I'll try to tag this appropriately so that anyone who doesn't wish to see any content regarding to this doesn't, but if it accidentally slipped through I'm sorry, just tell me what else to tag it as so it will be better blocked and I will.

Obviously Joanne is a delusional b**** and I will never be touching anything she writes or sells ever again, since it would be giving her funds to actively harm trans lives.

The only question I have is regarding fanfiction because I've been seeing many arguments about this and still can't quite make my mind up about what side is right, but the thing is none of the people I saw making statements about this were trans, so I would very much appreciate your opinion since I believe that your thoughts are the most valid in this situation.

The first argument is that HP fanfiction while not directly supporting J.K. and oftentimes going directly against her beliefs is still giving visibility to her work and ultimately attracting people to the world of HP that normally wouldn't have exactly because of the effort put in to fix the mistakes of the original text.

I think the way they put it was that she is "profiting off the free labor of the folk she despises".

I actually see how this can be true and it makes a lot of sense to me since, for example, when All The Young Dudes blew up on tik tok a lot of people who might otherwise not have done so started buying HP merch and getting it farther up in the trends, even though ATYD by itself is a very queer-positive work.

The second argument is that fanfiction is not directly supporting her and it is incredibly healing and supporting for many people struggling. Not only that it can be a platform to expose her wrongdoings and stop the fandom from becoming a home ground for hate groups.

The argument went somewhere along the lines of if a child receives the HP books from a relative unaware of all the issues and likes it and then goes looking for more content, if the fan content made by the queer community isn't there to receive them all they will be met with is people who reaffirm Joanne's toxic opinions and it could be extremely harmful to those children, especially if they are queer themselves and aren't aware yet.

I myself have gone to HP fanfiction when I was questioning my sexuality and when I was depressed and it helped me immensely to understand what was happening to me and that it was ok and normal.

Trans protagonists in HP fanfiction also helped me understand gender theory better and what might be going on in trans lives and how to be more respectful (disclaimer: I am a cis woman so I cannot speak for trans people, I am merely stating that it helped me understand).

Both of these arguments make a lot of sense to me, and I can't see which one would be more correct. On the one hand I think that stopping everyone from even interacting with fandom might be a bit extreme, on the other I can't help but worry whether that is just me creating an excuse to keep enjoying things I like.

I don't feel like I enjoy HP fanfiction for nostalgia, especially since I openly recognize that both the books and the movies were actually a bit boring and not that well written and haven't been able to re-read them since I was 12. I think it has a lot more to do with the healing factor of being able to disassociate to another world and see stories that reflect mine and see people feeling the same things I do. But I am more than willing to stop if it is in fact causing more harm than good, especially since the last thing I want is for Joanne to receive clout she does not deserve.

Either way, I just wanted to know your opinions in all of this, since as I mentioned before I've only ever seen cis people arguing about it (mostly on tik tok).

The way you'd blush as his fingers would brush against hours, or the way you'd hide yourself from him the moment he'd get closer to you. He also noticed the wall you had surrounding you, he always noticed the sadness in your eyes. He wanted to protect you from anyone hurting you ever again but it wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. He didn't know he'd become the reason himself even when he didn't want to or intended to.

"Where were you Loki?" You crossed your arms as soon as he entered the shared apartment. In the last three years, the honeymoon phase of your relationship with him has run its course, but the love you two had for each other only grew everyday. That's when you both knew that you both were in this relationship for a long term, that should have made things easier right? But it did the opposite in fact. You started to fight with him more and more, every time he'd be out you'd question him, call him every hour to check on him. 

At first he assured you as best as he could, he'd come home, cuddle you,pamper you, love you and show you that you were the only girl he had his heart set upon. He told you all about the woman he dated before you and how broken she made him feel, momentarily it would all make you feel better, but as soon as he was out of your sight you'd start doubting him again. His work was hard already, the relationship didn't have to be, his relationship with you wasn't supposed to be made of constant arguments, fights and bitterness.

"We had a mission, I told you baby" he sighed as he sat down on the couch to take a breather. 

"Yeah? Then why were you at this pub?" You showed him a picture of him on your phone and he sighed.

"Because the mission got wrapped early, so Stark wanted us all to take some load off" you glared at him as he said that. Why didn't he tell you that? Was he seeing someone else? Did he meet someone there? Why would he hide it. Several questions bothered you

"Yeah? Why didn't you tell me?" He finally put his head up to look at you. It was one of those days, he should have known by your demeanor as soon as he walked in.

"Because we were literally there for an hour max darling. It's not like you called me and I hid it from you on purpose. I would have told you if I planned to stay any longer, come here now and hug me please" his voice sounded so sad and you did want to run into his arms but then you pictured him with other women in the club and that angered you.

"You should have told me regardless. You know how I feel about you sneaking behind my back" he got up suddenly as you said that. He was tired and all he wanted to do was come home and cuddle you but he knew he was going to have an argument instead.

"Sneaking behind your back? Do you listen to yourself when you talk? Why would you pick a fight with me over the same thing again and again? How many times do I have to prove my loyalty to you?" He raised his voice, his eyes seemed red, his jaw clenched and unclenched as he spoke. You flinched and took a step back at the outburst. 

"I uhh..I just..why can't I trust you then? Why do I feel like you're lying and hiding from, why am I afraid that you'd leave me for someone else?" Your lips trembled as you spoke, that softened his eyes but he was tired, he was exhausted from having to drag this relationship like this. He loved you, he loved you more than anything in the whole nine realms but he can't make you trust him and he definitely can't get rid of your insecurities if you're not willing to do it either.

"You can't trust me because you're projecting your issues on me, you always do that. Right from the beginning, I want you to trust me and I want you to let go of the hurt and worry. Trust me y/n I have had those worries too in the past but then I realized that you'd never put me through that pain like she did. I realised that you love me and care about me enough to not hurt me in such a cruel way. Then how could you think that the man that you love and the man who professes his love for you everyday could ever get so cruel and hurt you like that?" 

Your eyes teared up and you started to cry as soon as he said that. Why can't you just trust him? Why can't this be easier than it is? 

"I'm sorry Loki, I'm sorry" you walked over to him in an attempt to hug him but he grabbed both of your arms to stop you. He wanted to comfort you more than anything. He wanted to make you feel better, but he knew a few days later you both would be standing on the same spot as you were now. He can't have that. He can't lose you like that. 

"I know you are sweetheart, I know but I can't do this anymore" His words crashed your whole world in a second, he was going to leave like you thought he would. You had successfully managed to drive him away with your constant nagging.

"Pleasee don't say that..please loki..please baby I'm sorry..I won't do this again, I'll trust you..I won't fight anymore..please don't leave" you mumbled as you cupped his cheeks, the tears didn't stop from both sides, he was breaking his heart along with yours.

"We have been here before darling, and we will be here tomorrow as well. I can't continue to lose you in pieces like this..I cantt" he cupped your cheeks and kissed you as if he was kissing you one last time. "I'm sorry I have to go" 

Then he was gone, just like that. You got overbearing and you made him leave. You wished you could have turned back the time and stop yourself from accusing him today but you can't. This morning when you woke up you didn't think you'd have to lose the one true love of your life. You tried calling him but he ignored it, you went to the tower to see him but he wasn't there. He was never there, he wasn't even yours anymore so you had no right to even be upset with him. He was a free man now but the thought of someone else getting soaked in his love was too painful to bear. 

You had it all with him, he loved you, he cared about you, he treated you like a princess, his princess but your Insecurities and trust issues damaged the relationship slowly. You bumped into Bruce at the tower while you frequented there to see Loki and he suggested you see a therapist, he even recommended one of his friends. At first you didn't think it would help at all but continued sessions over the months slowly brought you comfort and peace. You noticed how poorly you have treated Loki in the last three years, always doubting him, always snooping on him, always questioning his intentions when he only loved you and comforted you in return.

When months later after your break-up Natasha invited you to her birthday party at the tower, you hesitated to go. You still were not ready to see Loki, you were afraid that seeing him would break you down again, you loved him wholeheartedly still and as much as you wanted to move on from him you couldn't. You wondered if he moved on from you, he must have, he was every woman's dream. And he deserved someone who'd love him the way he deserved to be loved.

 You put on a red dress and finally built the courage to go, the moment you saw him in an all black suit, you felt as if your breath was knocked out of your chest. You had this god to call as your own for three years and you managed to lose him. When he looked at you, he smiled. It didn't reach his eyes though, during your relationship you had noticed every little thing about him. What made him happy and giggle, what upsetted him the most, you wondered if he was still angry with you?

You spend the rest of the party trying to avoid him but every time you looked his way he was just looking at you. All those gorgeous women at the party and he was just looking at you. He was looking at you, you opened your Instagram account and went through the pictures your friends had uploaded, candid pictures of you both in the past few years. He always had his eyes on you and you always doubted his love for you. 

"Just go talk to her brother, you're starting to look real creepy as midgardians say" Thor elbowed him and loki rolled his eyes

"You really think she'd want to talk to me after what I have done? I abandoned her when she needed me, I should have stayed and worked through it but instead I decided to take myself out of that relationship and left her for her own even after all the promises I made of forever" loki sipped on his drink and Thor smiled. 

"I don't think that's what you did. You freed her so she could work on herself, that relationship was hurting you both, it's not supposed to be that way Loki. I know you always ask Bruce about her since she stays in touch with him and shares about her progress in therapy, I also know that you were the one to request Bruce so he'd nudge y/n towards that direction" Loki looked at him as Thor said that, his eyes were teary. He looked at you one more time and gulped his drink down in one go.

In the past few months he had controlled himself to not ruin your progress, he wanted you to heal, he wanted you to let go of the past hurt and pain and as much as he loved you he couldn't have been the one to do it for you. He couldn't be part of the problem and solution for you. As soon as he saw your pretty face he remembered how happy he was when woke up to you every morning, the world seemed better with you by his side. There was a gaping hole in his heart since he left that night and only you could ever fill. The red dress you wore made him want to pick you up in his arms and love you all night, make you forget about the pain, make you forgive him for leaving you.

He walked over to you and as soon as you saw him you started fidgeting on your spot. 

"Y/n" he smiled as he looked at you

"Lo" you smiled in return, your heart raced as his cologne invaded your senses. You could only think about the nights you had spent with your head being buried between his neck.

"How are.." 

"How are you.." you both spoke at the same time and it made you both chuckle 

"How are you darling?" He asked you softly so you looked up at him.

"I'm okay, I.. started therapy.. I..it's helping" you wanted to smack yourself for uttering that for a conversation starter but the ship has sailed 

"I'm happy about that y/n.. can I..umm can we go talk somewhere else?" He asked you softly so you nodded, your heart beat fast as he grabbed your hand in his and took you out to the balcony for a quiet conversation. And probably more. You were hoping he was still single, you weren't ready for him to move on so soon.

As soon as you both were out in the private he pulled you in for a tight hug, you wrapped your arms around him quickly as you felt his warm embrace, he buried his head between your neck and shoulder, inhaling your sweet comfortable homely scent in. You always felt like home and he wanted to come back home, he had been out too long. 

"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry my darling, I'm sorry about the way things ended between us, I'm sorry that I abandoned you, and I'm sorry that I broke all my promises" his voice trembled and that's when you realised that he was crying. You pulled away from him and cupped his cheeks, then you wiped his tears. 

"Lo..I'm sorry too..I know I have been difficult to be with and I can be a bit much.."

"No darling no, you weren't difficult. You just needed help and I was weak. I wanted to stick around forever and help you through it but I'm weak myself. I couldn't  watch us drift apart and lose you piece by piece slowly. Every argument, every fight drove us further and further away from each other and I was afraid if we keep fighting like that, one day I'll wake up and we won't be in love with each other and the thought scared me to bits. I can't lose you forever darling" you burst into a fit of cries as you hugged him tightly 

"I know loki..I know you have been walking on eggshells around me and I never wanted you to feel that way. I never meant to make you feel as if you'd cheat on me all the time but everytime you even looked the other way I started to feel insecure and in last few months I have learned that I wasn't allowing myself to heal and see past what I have been through, I compared you to people and the pain they put me through before and that wasn't fair to you..it wasn't fair to you lo" he pulled you away and cupped your cheeks then he leaned forward to kiss you. His touch felt ecstatic after months of not having him.

"I have missed you, it took every ounce of self control to not run back to you darling, I miss you so much and I love you, please forgive me" you grabbed the edge of his coat and pulled him in for another kiss. When you pulled away you both were grasping for a breath.

"Only if you forgive me too"he smiled and kissed your forehead

"I would if I was upset"

"So now what ?" Your cheeks flushed as you noticed the proximity between you two. 

"Well I would like to take you out for a date tomorrow if you'd graciously agree" you chuckled as he said that. You didn't want to rush this time, you wanted to take things slow, build trust from scratch, and start afresh with him. 

"I would like that very much" you giggled and his heart fluttered at the sound, he had missed you immensely.

This morning you woke up without the love of your life by your side but now you had hope that this time your forever would be forever. You knew you won't let the doubts and Insecurities from the past come between your relationship with him again.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 403,636

3. What fandoms do you write for? These days, mostly Teen Wolf, but I've written a lot for Merlin, Percy Jackson, BBC Sherlock, Gundam Wing, and assorted others over the years.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1. Acts of Man (Merlin/Arthur, Merlin): On the morning of their Annual pre-Christmas Dinner, Merlin is shocked to find out that Gwen thinks his boyfriend, Arthur, isn't good enough. But after a glimpse into Merlin's quirky flat, Gwen realizes that she might not have the whole story. 2. Nightmares (Jason/Percy, PJO): Percy feels lost and alone after returning from Tarartus. And if that's not bad enough, he can't sleep without having horrifying nightmares. Luckily for Percy, Jason is the one person not avoiding him, and the one person that has offered to help. 3. Looking for the Thing We Lost (Stiles/Peter, Teen Wolf): But the thing is that Stiles had already been forgotten by everyone. 4. Here I Am (Stuck in the Middle With You) (Jason/Percy, PJO): Percy and Jason's mission gets derailed when they find themselves trapped in a room with no way out. 5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, I try to, even it take a while -- at least on my newer fics. I haven't gone back to things from like 10 years ago to reply to old comments that I missed, but I try to keep up. I want people to know I appreciate the time they've taken to read and react to my fic, and you never know if you're going to connect with someone new and make a new fandom friend.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Give Me Pure Energy (Stiles/Peter): the alternative season 2 where Stiles craves some normalcy and befriends a new kid in his econ class, only to realize that maybe they both want more from each other than just a simple friendship. This is a super darkfic anyway, and has the kind of ending that's happy only if you're ok with all the awful things that Peter does during the fic... but generally, I like my angst with a happy ending so this is the best I can do.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Oh gosh, so many of my fics have happy endings... that's how I like em... uhhh. I'm going to go with one of my all time favorites:

Stuck Between Stations (Stiles/Peter): the one where Peter and Stiles are stuck in a time-loop inside The Wild Hunt.

8. Do you get hate on fics? I have been so lucky to not get much hate. If people are talking about my work behind my back, it's not getting back to me. And aside from an odd comment or two, I've gotten through about 20 years of fandom without having to deal with random hate.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? yes. I've written m/m, m/f, f/f, and, I think an m/m/f once... but I'm into all sorts of things and have fun writing about it

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I have in the past; a Harry Potter/BBC Sherlock x-over that got abandoned. I've also done a few prompt challenges that lead to crossovers/fusions like SPN meets MJN Air, etc.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? god, I hope not!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, I have been so lucky to have a few of my fics translated into different languages. It's always such an honor, and I give full permission for people to translate my work as long as they connect it back to mine on AO3.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have but it's been ages. And I think there may be someone *cough*@punchedbymarkesmith*cough* that would be great to collaborate with if an opportunity presented itself...

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Steter it would seem. I've been reading and writing it since 2016...!

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I fully intend to finish It's Only Forever, but I've used some of the ideas for it in other things, so I know it will be hard to get back into where I was going with it. I don't want to abandon it, but it's been a few years... le sigh.

16. What are your writing strengths? I think I'm pretty good with dialogue, especially banter. I think I'm also great at taking a small detail from canon and using that to world build something different.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Oh, that's easy: action and mystery. I really wish I could write a good casefic or mystery plot, and I just can't. I have to distract and misdirect at the end... I have to do the same with the action, too.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I don't trust myself. I might confer with someone who speaks that language if it was really needed, but I would probably do something like:

"Wow, I can't believe you survived that helicopter crash," he said in Spanish.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Gundam Wing, followed my Newsies and Harry Potter.

At This Truth We Have Arrived (Stiles/Peter): Five years after the death of Laura, Peter returns to Beacon Hills only to be confronted by the truth that the pack has moved on without him. But the fact that everything he once knew has changed isn't necessarily a bad thing; not when there is someone like Stiles who is so full of possibilities.

OR as my WIP notes for this fic say: "Peter is curious. They do something. Murder murder. Sex sex."

gonna ramble about calnr below the cut

bc I’m BORED and this is MY blog I do what I WANT

TW for self-harm, I think. I am not nice to my girl

edit: i sat on this for days and it’s long and stupid but i’m sick of seeing it in my drafts. every day i strive to be worse than the last ✌🏼✨

since I am the worst at writing, and really not creative overall, I struggle with stepping outside of the few things I’ve drawn which range from generic cutesy things to angsty AF

at some point I’m gonna have to suck it up and make sense of their relationship, why it’s even necessary for both of them, and what the endgame is. is this just for funsies and doesn’t matter? yes. is my brain not going to leave me alone until I make sense of everything? also yes.

like. ok. we can assume that Lard Nar has dealt with a lot of loss. he lost his home first and foremost, but it can also be assumed that he’s lost a lot of loved ones, family and friends and so on, either by imprisonment or death by Irken hand. this makes him not only opposed to commitment for fear of losing someone but especially opposed to commitment to an Irken.

at the same time we like to think that Lard Nar sees past how Irkens tend to be on the surface and understands that they’re just victims of Irken society, this awful propaganda that turns what could be free-thinking individuals into single-minded drones privy to violence and hatred of other alien races.

he knows deep down that Callie is good because she saved him during the Vort disaster. that’s highly unusual Irken behavior and the act sticks with him years down the line, even after watching as his planet got conquered and his family imprisoned. so the two views go back and forth in his mind, i guess.

obviously trusting Callie in the end is what happens since they do, eventually, have some sort of complicated relationship. once he opens up to her, that fear of losing her just like he lost everyone else becomes super exasperated, now that he’s let Callie be someone important to him.

this really sucks for him because Callie is fiercely independent and leaves the Resisty ship often. each time is either quietly leaving without anyone knowing or getting very angry and leaving, never with the intent to come back. she just wants to be left alone at first.

Callie gets into a lot of trouble while away from the Resisty. the story I keep trying to tell with her is dark; she hates herself, a lot, has no sense of self-preservation and comes back fucked up every time. most of the time she’s found by the Resisty and they have to bring her back to health again.

her background of like… forced to train hard as hell to become a top elite next to miyuki and never wanting that future, having to escape her home planet because she would have been killed otherwise, actually being killed painfully after finally finding what felt like home, waking up in a body that isn’t hers and another Irken’s mind battling with her own, and by this point assuming that the Resisty just wants to use her because she could potentially be a huge threat to the Empire…

this girl’s mental state is bad by the end of it all.

and actually, most of the Resisty hates her at first, which doesn’t help. they just got done trusting an Irken who betrayed them and nearly got them all killed (Nyx). but their captain feels that he owes Callie, she saved his life after all so many years ago, so he saves hers in the only opportunity that arises to make it possible. so the rest kinda have to deal.

after some time goes by, Lard Nar realizes that he’s gone from “ok I have returned the favor my work here is done” to “fuck I really care about you please stop hurting yourself like this”. and he does see Callie as a potential asset to their cause at first, but doesn’t press the subject. after he realizes oh fuck I have feelings for this Irken he drops the idea from his mind entirely; he just wants her to be okay. Callie, seeing no future for herself, has no interest in joining the Resisty or being in any sort of relationship.

Eventually she comes around after slowly realizing that the Resisty has 1.) learned to trust her after Nyx’s personality is fully gone and they spend more time getting to know her true self and her history and 2.) saved her time and time again without expecting anything in return, proving that they actually do care. her mental state starts to improve slowly but surely.

Callie officially joins the Resisty and goes on missions with them. somewhere in this part of the story is where she realizes how much she cares about Lard Nar in return. but emotions are very confusing for Irkens, especially those surrounding romantic feelings, so Callie doesn’t know what to do half the time. she’ll go to Laksa like “hey Nar brought me flowers from a nearby planet and asked if I needed anything while I’m stuck in the med bay and it made me feel weird what does this mean” and Laksa will be like ROLLS EYES.

this girl stubborn AF and when she understands what she’s feeling for Lard Nar is love, she’s in denial about it. her??? with a Vortian???? that’s wrong!!! it’s not, but the things you’re taught on Irk take some time to unlearn. anything between them is kept in private and even though she thinks she has their relationship under wraps, the rest of the Resisty is like “oh wow sweet gossip” and they are very aware lol.

there is a mission at some point where some Irken enforcers capture Lard Nar and keep him imprisoned for a while, and Callie rips through the prison’s guards like they are nothing to save him, and at this point she doesn’t care what people think anymore. when she saved him and some other scientists the first time on Vort she didn’t think much of it, it was just the right thing to do and she took hold of the opportunity. this time she’d stop at nothing to make sure he’s safe, even if that means murdering a ton of Irken guards, going very much against her own ideals.

the two become highly protective of each other and intermittently co-dependent because of their different traumas surrounding loss. I don’t think this makes for the healthiest relationship - sometimes one or the other will realize they’re being clingy and pull back for fear of getting hurt. it probably takes them a very long time to get to a point where the fear of losing the other becomes less important than the desire to be together.

also like…this takes a while. you can’t erase the past, and the reality is that Irkens and Vortians have a very strained relationship with each other. Lard Nar occasionally gets a sinking feeling in his gut when he’s around Callie, remembering the history surrounding the broken alliance. This is an Irken who can choose to betray his trust at any moment, and it’s not like it hasn’t happened to him personally. Callie, being on the “winning” side between the two, feels overwhelming guilt and often feels like she doesn’t deserve to be with Lard Nar because of what the Irkens - her people - have done to him.

I think I want them to have a happy ending where they can overcome their pasts, but ugh. I sure do view the IZ universe and timeline as very dark and awful and sure do love putting characters thru the horrors.

like I said before I’m bad at writing and there are a lot of elements here I want to include, which is why this ended up so lengthy, but some probably contradict others!! it’s just a string of thoughts though, so take it all with a grain of salt I guess. eventually I’ll simplify things which would make it easier to come up with ideas for writing/drawing. or just do whatever. whenever. this is literally just textbook “I want to shove my OC into every aspect of canon because I need to live” fuck it we ball

"Magic and technology both exist in this setting but they cancel eachother out" is a boring cop-out of making your setting interesting. Give me wizards casting spells with python scripts. Give me industrial forges with mithril tools. Coward.

Allowing people of color in your sci fi/fantasy setting and then having all the aliens/fantasy races look the exact same with no internal variations is weird and fundamentally uncreative.

Bigotry, in general, makes no fucking sense from a purely logical standpoint.

"Typhon Bad"

Much like everything else in Borderlands, I just think Typhon sucks because he represents yet another concept that could've definetly worked, but that the writers just kinda half assed and called it a day. To me, having an 'OG vaulthunter' who came from a humble place in Pandora and having him progressively get worse as you learn more about him IS a cool idea, and it really kind of makes you wonder "Hey, maybe we should probably learn from the past here and Stop Looking For Vaults", but then they fumbled it SO BAD AND IT PISSES ME OFF.

Firstly, the guy just never evoked a particularly likeable image from the getgo personally, even though I thought he was funny, because he just seemed... forced, somehow. Then, when you learn about him being the Twins' father, you also just kinda... don't have a reason to like him anymore. Dude you left your highly unstable powerful siren baby alone ?? Locked up ???? With just her fucked up twin thing to keep her company ????? Obviously she's gonna turn out evil dude, you are handsomejacking her 😭 Doesn't even have the decency to be like "Ok yeah I messed up" either, he's just kind of there afterward. Super disappointing.

I never played New Tales myself because it costs Money and I don't Want To Buy It, so I really can't say much about it. What I WILL say However is that from what I hear, people focus on all the wrong negative parts of that game instead of criticizing actually relevant stuff.

ABSOLUTELY. Maybe this is because I'm a sucker for fantasy getting mixed into other genres, but Magitech is just one of the coolest ideas anyone can ever come up with ever. One because at some point all futuristic science-y stuff becomes magical as you run out of explanations to justify it, and Two because it always feels so refreshing to have both a serious system for how things work and a "fuck you thats why" system. Like yeah, sure, maybe it doesn't fully make sense, but it fucks hard and it allows for more variety on what we can do, so we're keeping it. Such a good concept.

I'm picky as hell and most artificial flavors activates a part of my brain that turns me into a dog eating chocolate, so I'm gonna have to disagree. Also one of my favorite flavors is Orange and no one knows how to do orange flavors ever so maybe I'm just biased here 😔
