"After the crucial second round of talks with the government failed to make any headway, the protesting farmers carried on with their Delhi Chalo march on Tuesday. There were reports of chaos on the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border as the Haryana police fired teargas shells as farmers tried to break the erected barricades. Drones have been deployed to keep track of farmers’ movements, most of whom are on tractors.
Delhi has imposed Section 144 throughout the city for 30 days, erected barricades and iron spikes on the borders to prevent the farmers from entering the Capital.
Internet and bulk SMS services were suspended for Tuesday in seven districts of Haryana- Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa. Several farmer leaders’ social media accounts were also reportedly blocked the previous day.
The farmers’ protest, being led by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, has been demanding legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, as promised by the BJP-led government at the Centre, among other demands like loan waiver and implementation of the MS Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations. The farmers participating in the protest are mainly from Punjab and Haryana."

Protesting Indian farmers are harassing BJP and JJP politicians all over India by blocking them from campaigning and protesting at their homes and offices.
Its seven days to the Punjab civic polls, and senior BJP Jalandhar leader Ramesh Sharma is in a quandary. “They follow us everywhere,” he says.
In 2015, the then ruling Akali-Dal BJP combine had swept the civic polls, with the BJP outperforming its senior partner. This time, the BJP has not been able to find candidates for two-thirds of the seats, nor to campaign in the rest. As the protesters at Delhi’s borders press on, Punjab BJP leaders are nervously watching the “pakka dharnas” outside homes of more than 30 of them — unceasing for four months, continuing day and night, drawing people from up to 40 km away, organised by farm unions, under tents that can hold 200 people. The banners at the sites demand that the “black” farm laws be repealed, ask why farmers are being called terrorists, and exhort: ‘Aao saare Dilli chaliye (Let’s all go to Delhi)’.
The BJP has hardly stirred out for campaigning, for fear of protesters surrounding their venues. Many BJP leaders have quit — over 20 of them in January alone — including the only Sikh face in the party’s core committee in the state, Malwinder Singh Kang. Partymen have removed the BJP flag from their vehicles, and check farmers’ protest plans before leaving homes, says a senior BJP leader.
...
In Rampura Phul area of Bathinda, a pakka dharna outside the factory of Makhan Jindal, a BJP state executive committee member, on since mid-October, was lifted on January 10 only after Jindal resigned from the party.
...
At several places, BJP candidates are not contesting on party symbol, [but instead as independents]”. Among the BJP leaders contesting as an Independent is Bathinda BJP chief Vinod Binta. He says he had no choice; “protesters are not allowing us to hold election meetings”. Careful not to provoke the farmers, he adds, “They have all the right to protest but they are getting too personal.”
Protesters have also vented anger on the Akali Dal, with slogans forcing its chief Sukhbir Badal to abandon a speech on farm laws at the Fatehgarh Sahib gurdwara on December 28. He had to be escorted out via the back gate. Mystery surrounds the February 3 attack on Sukhbir’s vehicle in his constituency Fazilka, while he was accompanying a party candidate for filing of nomination for the civic polls.
...
It’s not just the ruling BJP that has been hemmed in. In a worse situation is its partner JJP and Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala. The farmers have announced they won’t allow any public meetings of BJP-JJP leaders.
The CM has had his Kaimla venue vandalised and his cavalcade forced back with black flags in Ambala; Chautala has had a temporary helipad in his constituency Jind uprooted to thwart his arrival; minister Kamlesh Dhanda has had her cavalcade chased in Kaithal; the BJP has had to cancel training sessions and a protest on the Satlej-Yamuna Link issue in Fatehabad as farmers called it a bid to divide them along Punjab and Haryana lines. Outside many villages, boards bar entry of BJP and JJP leaders.Says Raj Kumar, a farmer from Jind district, “BJP, JJP leaders can come out only if they hide their identity, wearing masks.”

Protesting farmers dig up a helipad in Jind so JJP politician Dushyant Chautala can’t land and campaign in the area.

Congress protests in Haryana and Punjab against holding of JEE, NEET Subscribe - https://ift.tt/2BvgxbE Facebook - https://ift.tt/3hRxoWV Twitter - https://twitter.com/EducationCaree6 Pinterest - https://ift.tt/2YpDlCG Tumblr - https://ift.tt/2NmT92U Blog - https://ift.tt/2NhbzC6 #Exam #Recruitment #Result #School #College #Study #NEP #New_Education_Policy #Admission CHANDIGARH: The Congress and its youth wing on Friday staged protests at many places in Haryana, Punjab and their joint capital Chandigarh against the holding of JEE and NEET amid the Covid-pandemic. Various opposition parties, including the Congress, have demanded that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) be deferred due to the Covid-19 pandemic and floods in parts of the country, even as the Union government has made it clear that they will be held as per schedule with due precautions. In Haryana, Congress leaders and workers held protests at many places including Karnal, Kaithal, Bhiwani and Sirsa. Congress workers in Bhiwani burnt an effigy of the Union education minister and demanded that the exams be deferred keeping in view the present Covid-19 situation. In Sirsa, Congress workers, during a protest, demanded that the exams be deferred for now. "What is the urgency of holding these exams when cases are increasing. Why are lives of thousands of students and their families being put at risk," a Congress leader said. Haryana Congress president Kumari Selja said that during the past few weeks, there has been a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases. "In this situation the government is bent upon holding JEE and NEE exams which has raised worries of lakhs of students and their parents. Given the situation as it is now due to Covid, how will the government make stay and transport arrangements of so many students," the Congress leader said. "Moreover, in some parts of the country the flood situation has aggravated. Should the government be stubborn about holding these exams or take decisions keeping interests of people in mind?" Selja asked. While NEET is scheduled to be held on September 13, engineering entrance exam JEE-Main has been planned from September 1-6. Around 8.58 lakh candidates have registered for the JEE-Main and 15.97 lakh have registered for the NEET. The exams have been deferred twice in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Members of the Chandigarh Territorial Congress, led by its president Pradeep Chhabra, staged a protest against holding of these exams, with him saying this is not the time to "endanger the lives of students". "Don't play with the lives of students," read a placard at the protest in Chandigarh. At many places in Punjab, the Youth Congress submitted memorandums addressed to the Centre through the district administrations on the issue. It demanded that these exams be put off for the time being. Punjab Youth Congress president Barinder Dhillon said that these exams should be put off as holding them at this stage would put lives of thousands of students at risk. Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar had on Thursday hit out at the BJP-led government at the Centre, accusing it of "playing with the lives" of millions of youth by being "adamant" on conducting JEE and NEET exams, amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Jakhar's reaction came a day after Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh asked his state advocate general to coordinate with his counterparts in other opposition-ruled states for filing a collective review petition in the Supreme Court, to seek deferment of NEET and JEE. On Friday, ministers of six opposition-ruled states moved the Supreme Court on seeking review of its order permitting the Centre to conduct NEET and JEE entrance exams this year amid the persisting Covid-19 pandemic. The top court on August 17 had refused to interfere with the conduct of medical and engineering entrance exams -- NEET and JEE --scheduled to take place in September saying that life must go on and students can't lose a precious year due to the pandemic. via Today Bharat Union Home Minister Amit Shahnbsp;October 9 said every illegal migrant in the country will be sent home before the next parliamentary elections as he invoked the NRC, Article 370 and the Rafale purchase during assembly poll rallies here. The BJP president tore into the Congress, accusing its leaders of seeing the shastra puja performed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on India's first Rafale fighter jet as a farce. ldquo; For the opposition, it was a 'tamasha'. It is not their fault. They know more about Italian culture and have less information about Indian culture, rdquo; the BJP president said in Loharu. Campaigning in the state ahead of the October 21 assembly polls, he also accused the Congress of being concerned over the interests of ldquo;just one familyrdquo;, a reference to the Gandhis. He said the Congress and other dynasty-based parties are eating into democracy ldquo;like termitesrdquo;. In Kaithal, he made it clear that illegal immigration and the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) remained a Bharatiya Janata Party priority. ldquo; When we come again to seek your votes in 2024, I want to say before then we would have evicted every single intruder from this country, rdquo; he said. Shah also addressed a public meeting in Meham, as the BJP stepped up its campaign for another term in the state. Referring to the row in Assam over the National Register of Citizens (NRC), he said, ldquo; For 70 years, these intruders have put a question mark on our security.rdquo; ldquo; The BJP government is committed to evicting all of them from country through the NRC,rdquo; he added. ldquo;Should these intruders be evicted or not?rdquo; Shah asked the gathering, accusing the Congress and its local candidate and senior leader Randeep Singh Surjewala of opposing the NRC implementation. ldquo;Ask the Congress people why they opposed the triple talaq (bill) scrapping of Articles 370 and 35A. Why are they opposing the NRC?rdquo; he said. Shah said the Congress is upset over the traditional weapon-worship ceremony performed by Rajnath Singh when he was handed over the first Rafale fighter in France on Tuesday. ldquo;Rajnath Singh ji performed shastra pooja in France but the Congress people felt very bad about this too, rdquo; he said, referring to remarks by some leaders from that party. ldquo;Should the shastra pujan tradition be observed or not? Should we keep this tradition alive or not?rdquo; he said. ldquo; But the Congress is opposing this too.rdquo; Shah wanted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to make clear whether he is for or against Article 370, recently nullified by the BJP government. "The Congress has to oppose whatever the BJP does," he said. Shah said no previous government had dared to scrap Jammu and Kashmir's special status, but the Narendra Modi government acted in the first session of Parliament after coming back to power. ldquo; We expected to get the support of all parties in this because it was not the BJP's job, but related to the country's security, rdquo; he said while singling out the Congress He said there was a feeling among people in the country that Jammu and Kashmir was not fully integrated into the Indian Union, with Articles 370 and 35A acting as stumbling blocks. He said several soldiers from Haryana had sacrificed their lives over Jammu and Kashmir. Contrasting the BJP's stand with that of the Congress, Shah said Atal Bihari Vajpayee had praised Indira Gandhi over the war against Pakistan that brought Bangladesh into being. He said this was because it was a matter of national interest and not a Congress victory. Shah mentioned the Balakot air strike and the surgical strike earlier against error camps across the LoC, saying the government has sent a strong message to Pakistan. The BJP leader said Modi has undertaken fewer foreign visits than former prime minister Manmohan Singh but the perception is just the opposite. This is because Singh's visits failed to make an impact, he claimed. He targeted the sitting Kaithal MLA Randeep Singh Surjewala, saying ldquo;Whatever Modi ji does, Surjewala gets a stomach ache.rdquo; Shah attacked the previous state governments led by Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Indian National Lok Dal's O P Chautala, accusing them of playing caste politics. He alleged that 'goondaism' and 'corruption' increased during their terms. He praised the current M L Khattar government, saying it is corruption-free.
