Happy Karma in Love Day! This issue has: Hot Bird Men (shout out to Beak fans), my Hot Freddy Dukes agenda, relationship advice from Rogue, and Asian Glow.

There’s a lot of things I love about the ongoing Infinity Comic Karma in Love, but I think a highlight of it for me is how it portrays Xuân’s anxiety.

This poor girl has mind control powers and she seems so afraid of accidentally using them that she runs away from basically every social conflict. Her girlfriend wants to take a break? Nod yes, then run away. Her now-ex-girlfriend is seemingly dating one of her longest friends? Don’t talk to them at all, run away. Captain Pryde, who Karma may or may not have a fling with in Mekanix, enters the bar? Accidentally mind-control Freddy and Rogue for a few seconds due to anxiety, then run away.

This is just a really interesting pragmatic look at what life must be life to have those kinds of powers and the unique anxieties they bring - while also providing some relatable “Local Lesbian Has Social Anxiety” content. I’m looking forward to the book’s conclusion and also keeping my fingers crossed that Xuân gets the girls (both of them!) by the end… as let’s be real, a story called “Karma in Love” probably shouldn’t end with Karma being single. 😅

YAY! I’m so happy that you’re enjoying the first part! I had a lot of fun writing and drawing it, and I hope readers stay tuned for the next five parts. Her old name always struck me as very strange, and I’m very happy they let me adjust it. You can read a little bit more about it in this interview I did with Marvel.

One thing I didn’t mention in the interview is that when I was brainstorming her new name, I texted my mom a bunch like, “Mom does this name sound weird? Would a girl be named this? You’ve named humans before!” And she very sweetly gave her feedback with absolutely no idea what it was for, bless her.

geto is so sweet. he buys you flowers, walks you to your classes, holds your hand going anywhere. he knows your favorite movies, foods, drinks. he memorizes the shows you watch and your favorite characters so he can talk about them with you

but that man fucks you like he hates you. one hand pushing your head against the mattress, the other holding your hip to his, occasionally slapping your ass when he thinks you’ve gotten a little too quiet. he pulls your hair and calls you names: slut, whore, bad girl. but when he’s feeling condescending, he calls you sweetheart.

he laughs at you when you cry from overstimulation. he loves hearing your moans when he hits that spot inside you to make you see stars. geto leans over your spent body, he thrusts pausing only for a moment so he can turn your head to the side and kiss your bruised lips, his tongue moving against yours as you moan softly into his mouth.
