Kise Ryota was in trouble. 

To be exact, he was in trouble all the time, with Kasamatsu-senpai always ready to whoop his ass before a game, but after he noticed that Kise was so eager to misbehave, some of the older team members changed the strategy. They created a scary persona of a Student Council President. Or that’s what Kise thought. 

„Kise, if you don’t clean the gym today Student Council President will be very angry”

„You have no idea how angry they can be, I wouldn’t test my luck”

Kise never since he started Kajio Academy seen this mysterious person, who was apparently in their second year. 

„They are very busy, but believe me you don’t want to be on their radar: if you end up on their black list it's over for you” said Hayakawa-senpai.

„They are younger than me and I’m still having chills whenever I hear their voice” mentioned Kobori-senpai. „They have this... cold demeanor like your mom, when she is not mad, just disappointed. Nightmare”

Again, Kise didn’t take these words to heart: he felt like they just needed some scary story to make him do his chores or come on trainings on time. 

However this one day, he really fucked up. Because of the important match with Seirin coming up, he started to slack at school. He stopped listening during the classes and even with his amazing intellect, he could see his grades were just slipping. But who cares? He was never in this school for the grades anyway. 

After one of the trainings, as always, there was a crowd of his fans waiting at the entrance of the gymnasium. He was used to at least giving them a wave and a smile, so they could go home happy, fantasizing that they were the main character in the romance novel, or anything else. Ryota didn’t care: If he did it, at least everyone would stay outside of the court, otherwise the coach would scold him. But this time he saw a person coming to him with a smile, crossing the court lines. To show his good side to the team, with a bright smile he went in their direction. 

„Oh, I’m so sorry, but you cannot enter here” he said with the sweetest tone. He was surprised no one from the team yet commented anything. However, when he looked closely, Kise felt his heart dropping. He had never seen such a gorgeous human being in his life. Was it an angel? 

„However if you tell me your name, I can give you my phone number and we can meet after the training” he added flirtatiously. You sent him a smile, but it was the coldest smile he had ever seen in his life. „No need” he heard, feeling like he made some sort of mistake. „However I would like to see you after the training, Kise Ryota”

The whole gymnasium stayed silent, and at this moment blonde felt, something was up. It was not his fan? Was he in trouble? Why did it sound like a threat, not a date? However, he decided to keep it cool. He sent one of his brightest smiles. 

„Like a date? You are quite forward, I like it”

Everyone in the gym felt like the air was just sucked out of there. 

„…I will see you after you change” you said with a cold expression, turned around and left. Ryota had no idea why even his fangirls remained silent. He was just about to go in the direction of the locker room, when he felt a kick on his back, way harder than usual. 

„You are such a moron Kise!” Kasamatsu-senpai yelled. All of the crowd vanished. 

„What did I do?!” Ryota stood up with a single tear leaving his eye from the impact of the kick. 

„Did you just try to flirt with the Student Council President?!” He heard Kasamatsu screaming. Hayakawa-senpai looked at him with the fear in his eyes. „We should say our goodbyes to Kise, this might be his last day…”

Kise’s face brightened up. 

„So this is the Student Council President? You never told me they are so beautiful!” He felt a slap landing on his cheek. 

„Stop thirsting over them! What’s wrong with you?! They hate you now!”

„I think even coach could feel the shiver down his spine when they asked you to meet after the training… You are in big trouble Kise” Kobori-senpai said genuinely worried. But the blonde model was already thinking about something else. He looked at the door with a dreamy look. 

„Our wedding will be in February, on Valentine's Day…”

Kasamatsu took a swing with his hand but Kobori-senpai stopped him with a resigned look. 

„We lost him.”

He was right - Ryota wasn’t listening anymore. Till the end of the training to when he was ready to face the new love of his life, he couldn’t stop feeling his heart beating fast. Was that what people felt when they were in love? Kise never could relate to all of those girls swooning over him, but now he could feel his knees giving up just by the memory of your face. 

On his way out, his upper-class mates saluted him as he was going into the war. But Kise only looked at them excitedly and said „I plan to get their number today, wish me luck!”

And even if they felt like Ryota was going on his death sentence, they never saw him so happy an excited again, and who knows, maybe this childish arrogant basketball star is exactly what will melt your heart?

Kise did not get your phone number that day. He was scolded. But he will not give up.

Kise and Aomine found out at some point, now they just visit whenever they feel like it. Kise because he just want to see how his senpai is doing and Aomine because he is a cat and they have food in their fridge.

Remember the replace plus story about the Kaijo team’s mixer date setup by Kise? Can I request a scenario where Kasamatsu’s crush (who’s the teams manager, first year student) sees the mixer and gets jealous because she likes Kasamatsu, making her give the cold shoulder and frustrated looks to him the next day at practice?

I had an idea like this for a while haha!

Kasamatsu could feel his stomach twisting in knots as he stood outside the double doors to the gymnasium. His mind was racing, still re-playing everything that had happened the day before at the mixer. The complete embarrassment he felt, the shame that wanted to engulf him, his stupid outburst.

Red crept its way back onto his face at the thought. Kanpai! It's kanpai, you idiot!

He couldn't get too far into his own thoughts however, as a heavy hand clapped itself onto his shoulder, nearly pushing him forward into the doors. He turned to face the person sidling up beside him, brow twitching when he saw that it was Moriyama. The sour feeling in his stomach got worse.

"Hey, Kasamatsu," Moriyama sing-songed, teasing lilt to his voice. His free hand pushed at the double doors in front of them. "Let's get inside before we're late for practice." Moriyama was smart enough not to mention the day before, but the jovial tone to his voice heavily implied that he wouldn't ever let it go.

Kasamatsu could feel a snarl on his lips and he followed after Moriyama, fully intending to chew him out for even suggesting a mixer in the first place, but he was interrupted when the shooting guard called out to someone else already in the gymnasium.

"Oh, ____-chan, you got here fast. Hello!"

Kasamatsu felt the color drain from his face at the mention of your name. He stiffly followed after Moriyama as the latter ran up to your side. You looked up from your clipboard at the sound of Moriyama's voice, smile gracing your features.

Kasamatsu felt as if he were walking through honey, legs stiff as he slowly made his way over to where you and Moriyama stood together. On a good day, he could get away with talking with you about basketball, his answers short and clipped and heart beating wildly. But today, the day after that failure of a mixer, he couldn't even look at you without feeling like his heart would stop.

"Moriyama-senpai, hello!" Your greeting was bright, friendly, a sound Kasamatsu often sought out, though he'd never admit it to you or himself. "How was your outing yesterday with the team?"

"Oh, you know about that, ____-chan?" Moriyama questioned.

"Oh, yeah," you responded. "I was in the area and happened to see all of you guys out. Looked like you were having a great time."

Kasamatsu froze where he stood, mid-step and and vision shaky, eyes falling to the floor beneath him. You saw them at the mixer? You saw them with all those girls? What did you think was happening? Did you witness what he'd done? Did you hear what he said?

"Oh, you saw us?" Moriyama asked. Kasamatsu saw his teammate's lips curl into a teasing smirk and he instantly knew what was about to leave Moriyama's mouth. "Did you see Kasamatsu, too? I think he had a great time."

At the sound of his name, Kasamatsu looked up toward you and Moriyama. He was met with your slight glare and pinched frown. You held his gaze for only a second before snapping your attention back to Moriyama. "Yeah, I saw him."

Kasamatsu wanted the ground to swallow him whole.

yk when in the kaijo vs touou match (dont talk about the kasamatsu crying scene after that okay my heart has broken over it enough times) kise couldnt get up from the court floor because his legs were exhausted from copying aomine ,,, and kasamatsu walked to him and kise looked up at him and said “senpai… im so sorry…” and kasamatsu just picked him up, draped his arm over his shoulder to help him up and said “you did well, kise”

it hurts so much more cuz i get what theyre going thru. the euphoria from winning any sports game is unmatched but that means the misery when you lose is equally unmatched. its so bad

not being able to get up from the court, walking with a limp, looking up at your senior and feeling this huge pang of guilt that you couldnt win for them. its terrible

kise wanted to win FOR kasamatsu. he didnt want him to go through that feeling of loss. but the team lost anyway and he felt horrible because for so long the responsibility of the team winning has been on his shoulders. he was always expected to bring the team to victory and he is legit USED TO BEING HUMILIATED for it if he doesnt. he admits that to a fault he doesnt know how to pace himself. he doesnt know when too much is too much and he overexerts himself on a regular basis

but kasamatsu was ALWAYS there to help him. to tell him that if kise ever needed help making a decision w/ training he could go to kasamatsu. that kise didn’t need to bear the burden of success anymore

im never gonna stfu about this bro the ONLY reason kise developed and improved as much as he did is BECAUSE of kasamatsu. kasamatsu saw what teiko did to him the amount of pain kise didnt know he was bearing and he pulled out all the stops to make sure that kise would get better

he took kise to basketball matches with him. he took his junior OVER his classmates that are more experienced and would have had better insights but no. he did it so he could have more time with kise and si that kise could learn more about the game too. to teach him new things and new team strategies that he couldnt learn at teiko because THEY WERENT A TEAM

kasamatsu is one hell of a leader an amazing friend. he is exactly what a leader should be. hes passionate and motivating, he never EVER gives up. he has amazing mental fortitude and he is always open to teaching people new things especially to kise. he knew that kise was being disrespectful because that was all he knew how to do. kise didnt know what it was like to not be at the center of attention and not better than everyone and not singled out because of his talent. kasamatsu didnt let that go unnoticed. he put his foot down but he didnt do it aggressively. he was rational and respectful. he used all the right words

he knew there was something in kise. sure he was a great player but he had the potential to be a better PERSON. and kasamatsu wasnt gonna give up on him just because kise had a rough start

for so many years kise was alone. he never rlly had anyone close to him or anyone that wanted to help him. in that scene where he was in the floor and unable to get up? the animators made it a point to emphasize that he was ALONE. but a few seconds later, there was someones hand outreached. kasamatsu looked at him. helped him up. patted his head. praised him, comforted him

kise wasn’t alone anymore. he had someone that cared about him. an entire TEAM that cared about him

Hello! I wanted to ask your favourite ships and the ones that you don't really like and why

Hiiii thank you for asking i love to talk about stuff like that and procrastinating on work. i think in recent years ive been enjoying comedic dynamics the most ^_^ i love to laugh and the best kind of dynamics (romantic or otherwise) to me are ones that are funny first and foremost. and theyre best when theres something compelling about it but still a lot of room to play around.

a funny thing ive noticed also is that for most of the media i really really like i care about a platonic unit including the ship/at least one character more than the ship itself? like strky > imakasa, taka (oto) > suika, $quad > kubometo.... like the shipping is funny but the platonic unit is where i get the warm feelings from.

now to actually answer the question ^_^

my favorite ships are the ones cited above as i said mainly because theyre hilarious to me. but i also like that suika dont necessarily like eachother but grow to care deeply for eachother, and the plausible possibility of a history together in oto as kids from how much they know about each other despite being so hostile in early hebi. what happened there... its funny asf but It Could Be That Deep. and also i like the idea that they still hold a massive grudge against sasuke literally 15 years after he fucked them over even though the man doesnt care and probably doesnt even remember. ive always liked the idea that they could have bonded when they reunited during the war over both being mad at him for treating them like dirt but alas kishimoto decided karin still being into sasuke and beating the shit out of suigetsu was funnier.

kubometo and imakasa have a lot less going on, mostly i just find them absolutely hilarious. imayoshi in knb is mostly presented as weird menacing and creepy from seirins pov so imakasa (and strky) is a fun way to play around with his sillier traits, because in that unit hes not a scary opponent determined to do everything in his power to win, hes not an eccentric senpai that never says what hes thinking to his teammates... around kasamatsu and other dudes his age hes just a gay little freak. its refreshing!

i will not pretend kubometo has anything like this going on. its just really funny to me! so many things in saipsi are, but this one really scratches an itch for me. i would actually say that trying to make it deeper than it is and write about it seriously makes it a lot less interesting for me. well thats just my saipsi philosophy in general ^_^ if you start thinking too hard about it it becomes less funny, which is a capital mistake when enjoying a gag manga.

Erm ! for the ships i do not like.... there are so many but out of respect for some beloved followers i wont mention the ones that i really hate just because im biased as hell and no other reason (lol). lets just talk about a few that i have actual arguments for.

for saipsi i dont mind a lot of things as long as it is made funny by people who like it (otherwise i just do not care) but when it comes to saiko and kusuo im sorry we need to stop what is happening here. Out of every possible pairing in saipsi why these two. asou made saiko because financial power was the only thing he could think of at the time that was left to be a challenge to kusuos powers, and then he never really pitted them against each other because it was (offense number 1) already done (kusuos dynamic with kokomi and her divine beauty esp in earlier saipsi revolves around the exact same thing) and (offense number 2) literally not even funny.

their main reasons for interacting are 1) one sided rivalry because of kokomis crush on kusuo, which was abandoned Very Quickly and thank god for that because it wasnt funny at all and made saiko less likeable with each panel (and it encroached on makotos reason for existing in the work as well) 2) The Purge, except saiko never ever learns who that cyborg ciderman cosplayer that humiliated him was. kusuo barely registers in saikos mind past his introduction like he really doesnt care. the ones that consistently and meaningfully interact with him are always nendou, aren and kaidou, kusuos just always around so we actually witness it. it actually matters a lot to me that saiko is one of the only characters that are in the (extended) friendgroup not because of kusuo but mainly because of first kokomi and then nendou. so why make him and kusuo a thing?? theres nothing there! (heavy breathing) sorry if you like saisai i had to get it off my chest.

i think one other ship that i really do not like now for Actual Reasons is hanaima from knb. i used to be a Huge fan but as with a lot of things in this godforsaken fandom my enjoyment of it was really soured by people who just Did Not Get It. hanaima is the ship for people who want a ~Dark and Edgy~ dynamic in a highschool basketball manga. people who like it generally dont understand hanamiya and imayoshi as characters and the actual dynamic they have, they just want to write about abuse and poor little meow meow hanamiya and yandere sadist imayoshi and stuff like that. One! hanamiya is not scared of imayoshi he just hates him for being annoying and weird and not letting him do whatever he wants which is injure people and ruin their dreams! Two! imayoshi is kind of a freak but he is kind! whatever awful thing you think imayoshi did to hanamiya in middle school that explains why hanamiya doesnt want to do anything with him now is complete bullshit! its not about imayoshi being evil or an abuser or anything like that ITS ABOUT HANAMIYAS EGO! at most imayoshi is just annoying because messing w people hes fond of is his favorite past time!

ah well there are more things that people get wrong about their characters and dynamic but lets not increase my heart rate too much i wouldnt survive it. if i had to sum it up i think ships i do not like are either just offensively unfunny or like, the idea of the ship goes against established character so forcing it to happen makes them awfully ooc to the point of being near unrecognizable. like i know anything can happen in the mind of a fan but i like these characters for a reason, you know?! Erm well i dont know how to end this rant now so ill just say thank you for asking and sorry if its a boring read, just talking about myself and all ...!

Kasamatsu and Kise - another place, another time

It’s a different kind of promise and even though the part right after that, the two of them remember it. That when they met again, at another place, at another time, Kasamatsu will tell Kise what he admires about him.

It’s graduation day for the third years. Moriyama tries one last time to hit on his cute Kohais and Kasamatsu is in the gym, polishing his three-pointer skills. He doesn’t want to talk to his Kohais, or his classmates. There’s nothing to say, really. He just needs to pass a bit more time, because he promised Moriyama that they would go home together. Or rather Moriyama begged him because his parents aren’t home and he knows full well that Kasamatsu's mother has made a giant cake – with the help of his two younger brothers – and he wants a piece of it.

„Oi, you’re training now, senpai?“ He halts and groans inwardly. No, not Kise. Not now.

„You’ve got a problem with that?“ He turns around and is not even suprised to see the blonde smiling back. „Nah. I kind of knew it. And it’s pretty cool.“

„What?“ „That you train so much.“ The first year rubs his neck awkwardly. „I mean, it’s pretty boring, I guess, but I can’t help to admire you for it, being responsible and all that.“ Kasamatsu stares at him, not knowing if he should kick him for the insult or blush at the compliment. „Oi, say something senpai!“

„What do you want me to say, dumbass? You just insulted me!“ Yeah, getting angry is way better than blushing. „I didn’t! I told you, why I admire you! Isn’t that what a kohai should do on graduation day?“ „Who the heck told you that bullshit?“ Now it’s Kises turn to get angry. „My sisters did! And I thought I should do it know, because I will probably never get the chance again! And now it’s your turn to tell me, why you admire me! My sisters told me that’s how it works!“

Kasamatsu can only shake his head at that. „That’s bullshit.“

„But you do admire me, right?“ There’s a bit of insecurity in Kises voice that hits his captain hard. „Yeah… I guess. Kind of.“ „I knew it! For what! Tell me!“

„No! I won’t. I’m your senpai and your captain, you’re not in the position to ask for something!“

„Then…“, there’s a smug grin on Kises face all of a sudden, „Then you will tell me when we meet again. Because then we’re not Senpai and Kohai anymore and I can ask for it.“

„Yeah… okay…“

It’s a different kind of promise and even though the part right after that, the two of them remember it. That when they met again, at another place, at another time, Kasamatsu will tell Kise what he admires about him.

But they don’t meet. Yes, they hear about each other. Kise goes to every one of Kasamatsus matches he can attend and vice versa. Both of them are invited to every single wedding of their old team mates, but if one of them is in the country at the moment, the other is away. And somehow between it, they loose contact.

Kasamatsu has always known that he will meet Kise again. Just because he hasn’t had the chance yet, he has a promise to fullfill and he knows he will meet him. But he had never thought it would happen this way.

„Hey… Yukio… isn’t that your old teammate.“ His wife hands over the morning paper and sure enough, there’s a picture of Kise, smiling with his Basketball team. „Yeah, why, what does the article say?“ He scans the title and gulps back the fear. Famous Basketball player in heavy car accident. He reads through the article so fast, he has to read it three times to make sure that there’s no word of Kise’s death. He’s made it out alive so far and there’s no notice about him being dead already. So he’s still alive.

Kasamatsu calls Moriyama, who calls the rest of the team until they have all the information that there is. Kise’s in the hospital, with several broken bones, different injuries and – and that’s the point where Kasamatsu feels his heart freeze in sympathy – an amputated leg. Kise will never play Basketball again.

Kasamatsu hadn’t thought he would meet Kise like that. Lying in a hospital bed, looking weirdly small and broken with all the bruises and casts – and still smiling like a fool. „Senpai! You came!“ He tries to shout but it comes out in a cough. „Calm down, fool!“ He takes a seat next to his bed and stares at the place under the blanket where Kises lower leg should be. „Looks crazy, huh?“, the blonde asks as if it was nothing. Kasamatsu has the sharp reply already on his tongue when the door creeps open. „Honey, are you… oh, you have company.“ „No no, come in baby.“ A small woman with bright red hair steps in, a smiling little boy holding her hand. The little Kise look a like runs to his father immediately. „Daddy, daddy! I draw you a picture of me and mummy and you! I wanted to draw you without the leg but mummy said you’ll get a iron leg so I draw you with the iron leg. You look like iron man!“ Kise laughs and pats his sons head. „That’s great, Yukio. But you know who’s even cooler than iron man?“ „You daddy, of course!“ „Oh, thank you.“

Kasamatsu sits at the side, frozen in surprise. He wants to ask for the boys name again, but he’s afraid to speak up. He doesn’t have to, Kise turns around with a smile, pointing towards his former captain. „You now who that is, small bean?“ „Who daddy?“ „That’s the guy we named you after!“

The next second Yukio stands in front of Kasamatsu, looking at him with big green eyes he got from his mother. „You’re senpai! Can I have an autograph?“ His parents chuckle and Kasamatsu blushes. „Come Yukio, let them have a moment to talk, huh? We will go and buy some food.“ „But mummy!“ „Ah, Yukio…“, Kise calls out to his son, „I give you the mission to pick out the three tastiest sweets in the whole hospital shop. One for me, one for you and one for Senpai. Can you do that for me?“ „Of course, Captain Kise!“ The boy salutates and follows his mother, leaving the two men in silence. „You named him after me?“

Kise smiles. „Of course I did. Do you have a kid too?“ „Yes, a girl. She’s about Y-Yukio's age I think. Her name’s Miu.“ „Aww, a girl, how cute. Does she look like you? We need to get together so the kids can play.“ „That would be nice. Miu’s a bit shy. She doesn’t make friends easily.“ They sit in silence for a few more moments, before Kasamatsu talks up. „I need to tell you this now, or I never will. I … admire you… for your determination. That you always smile and can be happy, no matter what the circumstances are…. Even know.“ „Well… I learned from the best.“ Kise's voice is unusually quiet, a content, small smile on his face as he looks back at his former captain. „I had the best captain there is, senpai.“ „Don’t call me senpai anymore, you fool… call me… just call me Yukio, okay? We’re friends.“ „Yeah… friends.“

"happy birthday, kasamatsu...san." kise remembered to be respectful to him, that and for him to not get hit either. golden hues looked away momentarily before he looked back at him, having a small gift on him "here!" he chuckled, it was a large sudoku book and another was a set of new guitar picks. he was sure his senpai would appreciate these gifts.

45. Someone who would’ve made a fun prosecutor but isn’t?

Prosecutor Trucy! I think the magic hijinks in court would be so much fun. Also she could go up against her dad and brother in court which would be cute.

53. Your personal dumbest moment while playing?

For the life of me I could not get that dang vase in RFTA to point the right way ._. It took me like half an hour at minimum and my roommate was like do you need help? and I was like no I got this and I did not got this for at least half an hour.

62. Character you relate to but dislike?

This is difficult bc I don’t really dislike many characters! That’s one of the things I love about Ace Attorney is that so many of the characters are so great even if they only exist in one case.

That being said, I am terrified of clowns so while I don’t dislike her, I am deeply uncomfortable whenever she is on screen and I do relate to Geiru kinda… not being able to do what she loved for bullshit reasons? Being told to do something else that she hates?
