hello, at what time should we be tuning in to watch?
Good question!
It’s 8 PM UK time (so, in 25 minutes) on the BBC!
As for HBO, it depends a little. It airs 9pm EST tomorrow - so convert that to whatever time zone you’re in. From my own experience, from local suppliers/on HBO online, it’s usually available between when the episode airs to sometimes a while after it airs.

2. Album of the year?
joanna newsom’s ‘ys’ which lead me to van dyke parks’ ‘song cycle’ - both of which i listened to obsessively and have become some of my favorite works of popular music.
14. Favorite book you read this year?
i barely read this year, despite grand plans to do so! either woolf’s ‘mrs dalloway’ or faulkner’s ‘sound and the fury’! i miss reading so much :(
19. What’re you excited about for next year?
hm, i think it’s going to be a quiet year - but i also felt similarly about 2019 and it has been the most insane whirlwind that still hasn’t stopped. i’m excited to continue on working diligently and patiently and gratefully towards my goals, to take better care of myself and to see where life takes me! the main thing i want to figure out is how to do the practical side of life while feeling comfortable to devote my energy to my mind entirely.
20. What’s something you learned this year?
GOD. so much shit! apart from the practical things (like how to live on my own etc) - that patience is a virtue, that i can find a way to exist outside of my comfort zone, that i am so good at being uncomfortable, that i can never put my heart and mind through what i did this year ever again, that i can be disciplined and strict and ascetic if i deem something important enough... that what i deem important to me is in no way based in rationality. also there’s no such thing as a middle class lol.

1 (i know what ur gonna say but i wanna hear it anyway!!), 3, 6, 18, 24.
1. What was your first OTP?
I mean look. It’s gotta be Harry/Hermione. THANKFULLY I was barely online from 2000-2005 (due to the fact that I was under 12 for that entire time) so I didn’t get sucked in to the early hp ship war helscape, which would have probably put me off fandom for life tbh. I just existed in my own little world playing pretend games with my friends where harry and hermione figure out a way to bring sirius back and also maybe fall in love??? 2003 was a hopeful, hopeful time.
3. Do you have any OT3/OT+ ships? What are your favorites?
i definitely go through phases where i’ll like. peruse some #content for an ot3 or ot+ for a while. just kinda dip my toe in the water and read some fics and see if i like it in that space. turns out inevitably if it’s not Soulcrushingly Tender Monogamous Fools In Unrequited And/Or Pining Hell then my attention span is only about a week long.
HOWEVER.
will/tessa/jem is that rare exception where i genuinely, in the source material, can see all three sides of the triangle and am unbelievably upset about all of them. i once plotted out an entire college au for them so you know it’s real.
but like again only up to a point bc whenever i reread the books I am instantly transported back to 2013 and **** **** ** ****. **** *********!!!!!! so like
im me
6. Do you have a certain kind of ship you’re more attracted to?
i uh
Soulcrushingly Tender Monogamous Fools In Unrequited And/Or Pining Hell
one time i described it as “hets with lesbian energies” but tbh they’re not all hets
i talk about sun/moon dynamic a lot as well???? the sad one with a Past and the fun capable one who's definitely overcompensating for something
18. What is your favorite unpopular ship?
honestly amy/eleven is like.....the ship I have gotten into the most FIGHTS for
but also being at leakycon this year and seeing an entire room go SILENT when a panellist talked about shipping h/hr on a recent reread.... I Felt Threatened
24. What is your favorite canon ship?
do..........i.......even.......have..............any.................

awww your answers are so cute im filled w love for you, so: 12, 15, 27, 30
i love salma
12. answered. <3
15. what’s the best thing about liking girls?
okay GOD. liking girls is like falling in love with living poetry. it’s not that they’re all soft, because they’re not. but they make me feel softer just by rite of existing in the same space as them. when a girl sings, or speaks, or writes, or expresses herself, or gets excited, or gets angry, i feel like clay, and she is just moulding me into the ideal version of myself. liking girls gives me the courage to like myself. this is nonsense. but i love girls.
27. do you have any older lgbt+ people that you look up to?
unfortunately i don’t. i don’t really know anyone who’s significantly older than me. i wish i did, or i wish i had when i was younger; i feel like it would’ve helped me come to terms with my lesbianism a lot faster.
30. what experiences looking forward to having in the future? (kissing a girl, going to pride, etc.)
i’ve gone to nyc pride and wasn’t big on it (too commercialized which like. is not the Point) but i’ve also been to christopher street before, and it’s amazing there. (i highly recommend it for anyone who lives close to/in nyc, or is visiting, even if you don’t drink. i felt so whole and free there) i think i’m most looking forward to being environmentally intimate with a girl, living together and sharing a bed, cooking together, watching tv on the couch together, just existing in the same space as my girlfriend and building a life together. the idea of coming home to safety isn’t something i’ve ever experienced and i just. want that

What song sums up this year for you?I don’t think one song could.12. What was your favorite movie of the year?VENOM16. What food did you try for the first time?I dunno. I’m going to say my pork tacos bc I’m obsessed w them (as you know).17. Did you make any big permanent changes this year?I got a tattoo! If that counts18. What was one nice thing you did for someone else?Son, I did so much for other people. 2019 is the year of me.25. Do you regret not doing anything?Hmmm, I think I fucked up my college shit this year. But!! I’m going back and I’m going to try to fix it and graduate eventually.35. Who was important to you this year but wasn’t important last year?I dunno. I think certain people got less important. I’ll just say my buds on twitter  cos you got more important.42. What are you most proud of accomplishing?Winning the World Cup!!! (I haven’t really done much tbh)43. What have you learned about yourself this year? These are hard questions!! Maybe I really like snapbacks.47. If you make resolutions, what will they be?I don’t super believe in resolutions. I try to be better all the time and I don’t want to rely on one time a year to do it. That being said, I’m gonna try to be healthier. 48. If you could go on an adventure during the remaining days of the year, where would you go and what would you do? Who would you go with?I’d love to go back to Paris. I miss it so much, and I want to be there when it snows. I’d just fuck around and eat crepes all day.

hello there! i follow u on goodreads and saw that a couple years ago you read “delusions of gender” by cordelia fine. i’ve become p interested in reading it too but i’m wondering... does it have any transphobic or TERF-y reasonings? do you remember? thank you v much! :) your blog’s pretty great and i love following you on goodreads too!
Delusions of Gender was a really important book for me when I read it, and I think Cordelia Fine does a fine job of exploring the biases around gender research. She argues, in short, that the long history of science that claims to have found fundamental or innate differences in intellectual, emotional, and behavioral dispositions between genders is based on faulty and biased methods (she doesn’t argue, it’s important to note, that there are no emotional differences in genders, only that we don’t have solid science to make confident claims as to the existence of difference). This was groundbreaking for me to read at the time, and I have for many years now been obsessed with exploring bias in science. As someone who LOVES science, it’s absolutely vital for me to be sensitive to and knowledgeable of its limitations. Exploring the history of gender bias in science was largely the entry point for me to start looking at science in a truly philosophical (and responsible) manner, rather than simply extolling the benefits of scientific ‘objectivity’ and feeling judgmental toward those who didn’t ‘get it.’ There are plenty of other folks, scientists and philosophers alike, who have explored the issue of bias in scientific research (start with some Helen Longino and feminist epistemology) but Fine’s work is well-written and accessible.
That being said, the book is almost a decade old and it doesn’t hold up great in terms of discussions of trans issues. What’s particularly glaring here is the almost complete lack of discussion of trans issues. There is basically no mention of transgender folks in her book and, from what I recall, when the topic is bridged, the discussion is short and full of outdated language. It’s been many years since I read this book, and when I did read it, I would not have been as sensitive to trans issues and TERF-y reasoning as I am now. I read Fine’s follow-up book called ‘Testosterone Rex’ more recently (still quite a while ago though) and remember it holding up decently well. From what I can recall, Fine does not come off as TERF-y, though I might not be the best person to judge, and it could certainly be argued that her lack of discussion of transness could be transphobic. If anyone else has any insights here, please feel free to let me know! And thanks for your kind words, @kerenzaiv
I also want to note that the social psychologist Carol Tavris has long been tackling similar issues (her book Mismeasure of Woman is a classic). And I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention Natalie Wynn. Her channel Contrapoints continues to challenge me and teach me so very much. Her discussions on gender and transness are, for my money, near unmatched.
