Reader plays with VM's Hair

Percy isn't quite sure how to respond when your fingers brush through his short hair, pushing it back out of his face. He tenses up for a moment, not used to something so tender. But when your fingertips drag across his scalp he relaxes, leaning back into your touch.

Vax is very happy the first time you touch his hair, twisting it around your fingers in an attempt to make it curl. The first time you braid it catches him off guard but he loves it, not taking his hair out of the braid until you want to brush it again (it's a curly mess).

Vex is a bit more hesitant at first. She likes to have her hair exactly where she puts it, so your gentle touch is almost unwelcome at first but she relents, because it's you. You gently brush her hair, humming a song your mother used to sing to you, and nobody dares disturb you. For once, Vex almost seems at peace.

Pike loved when you started to play with her hair. She loves the way your fingers drag across her scalp, almost as though you're trying to massage the tension away. She will always, always, make time for it after a mission.

Scanlan is surprisingly iffy about other people touching his hair. So when you do it for the first time, it takes a lot for him not to flinch away from you. After a while of you gently running your fingers through his hair on a morning, he settles into the new routine.

Keyleth is so happy when you start to play with her hair. She leans into your hand immediately, silently giving permission for you to do what you pleased. You twist it round your fingers, braid parts of it, brush it through, twist sections up into buns. It's a fun way for you to relax together.

the thing is, I don't think Keyleth would see Vax come in to save her as she lies completely helpless and incapacitated at the end of the world, only to himself end up a sacrifice yet again.

I don't think Keyleth has the time to think that.

But she's smart. I think what she has the time to think is, "I am sustaining so much brain damage, this must be the end, of course I'd see raven feathers and hear his voice if I'm dying"

and it's endlessly more cruel and worse when she survives this (because of course she will survive this) and has to realize what actually happened.

All I can picture is how each member of vox machina reacting to the reader calling them their husband/wife.

Like reader is arguing with someone. That person insults that one member of Vox machina and before you know it reader decking the rude person in the face yelling “THAT’S MY WIFE/HUSBAND, TAKE THEIR NAME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!!”

Yes!! I love it!!

Percy - he had some choice words reserved for a rude noble but seeing you take action is all the more amusing! Damn right, he’s YOUR husband

Vax’ildan - he’s never had anyone call him “theirs”, but it’s such a feeling. New, different, and he likes it! If you let him, a kiss in front of says dissenter seals the deal.

Keyleth - YOUR wife?? Yeah she’s your wife?! Why would she ever doubt? You both have the matching Ashari tattoos that say otherwise.

Scanlan - who could ever say such things to him?? Your beloved songster, muse? Of course he’s flattered with the heart eyes and a smug “you heard them!”

Vex’ahlia - get them again babe, she’s got your flower! She IS YOUR WIFE and no one will dare to forget that

Pike - not one to answer back to rude arseholes but feels that surge of pride when you have a retort back! Your badass cleric WIFE!

Grog - has you propped up on his shoulders as you proudly tell off such a rude person!! “Yeah I’m their HUSBAND! whatcha gonna do ‘bout it?”

Bitch you ask for a headcanon I shall provide ya:

How well does the rest of the team do as petsitters for Trinket? Do they fail a lot or are these guys used to petsitting by now? Does Grog try to feed him ale?

Grog definitely tried to give him ale - once, before Vex all but chewed him out so hard he couldn’t look at her. Other than that if anyone even looks at Trinket he’s got his weapon out.

Scanlan refuses point blank to look after Trinket. He just does not like that bear. At all. For no reason. And the feeling is mutual.

Vax successfully sneaks ale to Trinket and Grog pouts about it. Vax is the second best pet sitter for Trinket, partially because the bear is part of his family but mainly because his sister scares him.

Percy and Trinket have a respect and understanding for each other. Trinket knows to be safe. Percy knows to let him do his thing. Vex loves them both.

Pike is sweet with Trinket but she smells like Scanlan and he is not a fan of that. So she has to bathe before she can look after him.

Then there’s Keyleth. Sweet, loving, Keyleth. I think Trinket has a softness for Keyleth, doing as he’s told the way he does with Vex. Sometimes she becomes a bear and they just sit together, other times she druidcrafts flowers to make into a crown for him.
