Happy Audio Drama Sunday, lovely listeners of audio drama. It must be coming in to spooky season because I’ve been getting my spook on this week! 👻

🌲@hellofromthehallowoods (134) This episode has made me so excited for the hfth novels! If I’m not mistaken, there was reference to both Amaryllis and the LEM story! My heart felt so heavy listening to Friday try and save O’Connor, what an enigma that man is. I am ROOTING for Victoria, where is Yaretzi to help her shed this self-hate and embrace her sunlight?? 🥺 I also loved that Harrow and Victoria had a moment of power but let’s not forget that they are actual children, they left a friend behind in a burning building during that same moment … And OUGH Writing Desk! It’s so interesting to finally get a glimpse at his actual motives and how it may be too little too late!! 

📞 YAY @thespcpodcast is back!! I thought the premise of this episode was so interesting! Let the nice vampire do their good work! The exploration of how therapy needs has changed with time and how different age groups often seek different things was such an insightful bit of world-building. I’m so excited for more. 

🎞  Congratulations to Tiny Terrors on their release anniversary! I strongly suspect that it IS all connected and I can’t wait for more pieces of the puzzle! 

🤴 InCo (@itmeblog) Terraforming!! They’re terraforming!! And the late King said that the Galactic Union couldn’t have any tech they didn’t understand. Galaxy eyes = galaxy-brained. I didn’t think this story could get cooler!! 

🧛‍♂️ @re-dracula WHAT a week!!!! It’s SO good listening while knowing what happens next, it makes the mourning all the more bitter. This is what Van Helsing must have felt like. This week has also made me realise how much I’ve missed hearing Jonathan Sims absolutely killing a monologue. 

🥾@doyoucopypod (10) Mad respect to Frederick here, I would not have been as calm or as trusting if I stumbled into that situation. It seems like REDACTED is swimming in more guilt that was initially teased. WHO is SHE and why did redacted leave her behind???

⛪️ I finished KILL FM! What a treat! I hope the teams involved in making this episode are really happy with what they’ve created - it’s so good!! 

🐟 New @kaneandfeels is always such a welcome delight!! Me: It’s Freaky Friday shit. Brutus: It’s Freaky Friday shit Me: 😲 The voice acting was so perfectly uncomfortable that when they were back in their own bodies, it almost felt like they were improvising - the chemistry was so immediately apparent. Also, the bit about the mars bars was so my brand of silly, it made me SO happy. 

I can’t wait for more Silt Verses and Moonbase Theta, Out next week! Hope you’ve all had a good weekend 🥰

Audiodramasunday Time!

For today's #audiodramasunday, we have a couple shoutouts to include! We're still working in the background, so not much listening going on, BUT we're excited to spotlight some shows that are wrapping up their seasons, or that we've just wrapped up in listening!

First, we truly want to give the HIGHEST props to @ethicstownpod for their S1 finale. The acting and writing were both exemplary, and we won't be able to get some of those moments out of our heads for a while -- really incredible job, you don't want to miss out on this one!

Next up, we're highlighting @tellnotalespod again, because we've just finished their S1 finale, and oh my GOODNESS we're so excited for S2! The cast and crew are incredible, and the story is super intriguing without needing to harp on horror (though we love our scares!) So good!

@desertskiespodcast is wrapping up with their finale tomorrow, and if you're looking for a cozy listening experience with humorous characters and existential plotlines (but not *too* existential), this is the show for you. Jared does incredible work!

And, as y'all may have seen already, KILL FM is gearing up for another release! We're super intrigued at what the next showcase will entail, and we suggest y'all keep your eyes and ears open for more news from these folks!

I got to play a small role in Kill FM 2: Fortune’s Favors [Side A]

I’m very happy to announce that I got to play a small role in Kill FM 2: Fortune’s Favors [Side A]. For those who don’t know, Kill FM is an annual events where several audio drama creators unite to make a weird fiction variety show. I was part of the 19 Nocturne Boulevard segment. It begins at 38:25 and I’m the announcer guy who says “The North Star!” I also provided some crowd chants. A big thank you to Julie Hoverson for letting me be part of the 19 Nocturne Boulevard segment. I loved the concept of a dystopian future with genetically engineered mutant gladiators duking it out. And also, shout-out to Project Gnosis for their awesome segment at 27:45

Audio Drama Sunday - 17th September ✨

Happy #AudioDramaSunday! Here are the wonderful shows I’ve listened to this week. You should listen to them as well!!

🌲@hellofromthehallowoods (133) Honestly not even joking when I say that I’m more upset having to listen to Polly and Yaretzi divorce than I was my own parents’ divorce. The too-little-too-late realisation being thwarted by Lucy’s arrival is GUT-WRENCHING. PLEASE, just let them be okay. Oh, and it was so good to hear from Moth again, I’m so glad that moth is going to try to escape, even if it is so bittersweet that people are getting left behind. 

🦀 @thesiltverses (32) I have to take a moment to say how much I bloody ADORE the use of music in season three so far. The sound design is already *chef’s kiss*, but the addition of the music and the panning is somehow playful and sophisticated and just generally masterful. That ending!! Hooo boy, this is SO fun in a stressful, kind of perverse way. I just love this show so much!!  I really hope Carpenter gets a chance to share with Paige (who it was a delight to hear again!) about what happened with the Trawlerman saving her. These gods do be picking favourites, though it seems like Paige’s is less than impressed with everyone… 

📻 @monstrousagonies no-one does bloopers like Hero!! They clearly have SO MUCH FUN recording and you can feel the joy diffusing into each episode. It’s so delightful! 🥺

🤴Had the pleasure of starting season 2 of InCo (@itmeblog) this week! There is so much delicious backstory to uncover about why Nova is the way she is and why it’s everyone else’s problem. I love that the eps are so short because I think it actually creates the opportunity for more world-building not less as there’s a focus on the present and not the story’s overall arc. I really like it!!

🧛‍♂️ @re-dracula oh my god. The re-dracula cast are so incredible. I keep saying it, but they are bringing this book to LIFE. It’s so much more intense, emotional and engaging like this. We all know that Beth Eyre is is incredible but GOD Beth Eyre is INCREDIBLE. 

🧬 Regina Prime (8) This episode had me gasping out loud! HOW MANY?! Omega and Epsilon have such an entertaining dynamic and I love the exploration of the wider ethical concerns of what Regina has done.

🥾@doyoucopypod (9) The dead zone moves?! I did wonder what could be so urgent that Alex would interrupt Reese’s explanation of their experience in the dead zone. Eeeeek, I hope Alex gets out of there in time!! 

🐬 @patterspod P Files #3. Seems like Ryan is wearing ill-fitting footwear in his mind palace. You need to put those crocs in sports mode to get anything out of there, dude. 

⛪️ I finally started listening to KILL FM and loved the first few stories! That one with the cat food though . . .  MAN. It was so disturbing, and I was listening so close to bed that I had to pause haha. Maybe I’ll take a morning walk to listen to the rest this week!

[For those who don't know, this is my other major project that I work on; a collaborative effort with Joseph Rutledge (Wireland Ranch), Derrick Valen (October's Children), and Jess Berson (Regina Prime) where we bring in a group of audio drama creators and ask them to create a short piece of weird fiction under a unified theme. It is an honor to work with so many different talented individuals and every installment is so wonderfully unique and strange.

This will be KILL FM installment 4, a throwback to our original Halloween release that we thought would be a one-off and then became this larger project. It is a treat to work with some of my favorite people again, and I am especially proud of the work that we did on this one. You won't be disappointed.
