Chapter 20 - A Surprise in the Fields
Tumblr media
Mina saw all of their eyes widen as the room fell into silence. However, she only smiled.
“…What?” Her father asked.
Mina didn’t falter in her statement. She said it again. “I’d like to end my engagement.”
Now Mingyu piped up. “What?” he asked. Mina looked at him again, shaking her head as a cue for him to sit back and watch. She looked back to her father, who looked mortified. “I’m sorry, Father. I recently fell in love with someone else. Back home. We reconnected when I went back to visit Mother. I just…Mingyu isn’t the man I want to be with anymore.”
“…Was it the flower choice?” Mingyu asked. The unexpectedness of that comment had Mina chuckle a bit, and when she turned to Mingyu once again, he had a genuine look of concern on his face. “It thought they were really pretty and Christmassy.”
“How did this happen?” Mr. Miyou asked. Mina smiled.
“We met at a party.” She said. “It was really romantic. He introduced himself and when some drunken fool tried to bother me, he protected me. He told the guy off and stayed by my side the rest of the night. He and I only knew each other that day but he made sure I had a good time. He was so nice.” Mingyu’s shoulders dropped as he listened, biting his lip. Mina turned to Mingyu again, smiling sadly. “And then he took me to Tokyo Tower and we had lunch the next day. We had a great time. I knew then that would be the person I was destined to marry. That guy.”
Her father looked stunned as Mina’s eyes sparkled during her story. “Who is this guy in Japan?” Mina’s father asked. For some reason, despite completely expecting her father to ask such a question, she had not spent any part of the ride preparing a response that would make sense. She pursed her lips.
“Taro Yamada.” She said quickly. Mingyu immediately recalled the “drunken fool” from her Christmas party that was trying to bother Mina. He chuckled a bit in amusement.
“You can do better.” He said simply, putting his hands in his pocket. Mina smiled.
“The point is, I don’t want to be with Mingyu anymore. We have spent time together trying to make this work but…it seems we both love different people. And I know Mingyu won’t end the relationship. He’s too kind. So, I will. I don’t want to be in a miserable marriage.”
“It was absolutely the flowers that did it,” Mingyu said under his breath. Mina pulled her ring off her finger, gently setting it on the table before her.
“I’m sorry, Father. I want to return home as soon as possible.”
“Mina.” Her father gasped, but Mina was already heading out the door. Mingyu watched her for a moment before his father called to him.
“Mingyu, what did you tell her?” He asked. Mingyu frowned. “Go talk to her and fix this.”
Mingyu looked down at the ring that had been sitting on his finger since the engagement. He simply slipped it off, setting it beside Mina’s. “No.” He said simply, before walking out of the office and closing the door behind him. He saw Mina stop at the top of the step and hurried over. “Mina.” He called.
Mina turned to him when she heard the footsteps. He looked grateful but also confused. “I told myself I wouldn’t win your heart unfairly. Even when I tried to, I failed.” Mingyu blinked. “I want you to be happy. I want you to smile. You can act well I’m sure, but you’ll never truly be happy with me. That’s just as miserable for me.”
“Mina…” Mingyu sighed softly. “I’m-.”
“Don’t you dare...” She said quickly. “I should apologize. I’ve taken two months of your life that you should have been spending in bliss with someone else. I won’t take her spot anymore. It hurts now, but I’ll be okay.” Mingyu nodded. “You should go find her.”
Mingyu’s head was still reeling from the experience. “I don’t think she wants to see me.” He said.
“She does,” Mina assured. “She has all of your presents still displayed in her home, and when she talked about you today, her eyes still had that same sparkle in them.” Mingyu watched Mina step closer to him. She got on her tiptoes, balancing herself by holding onto his arm as she kissed his cheek. He felt his ears heat up, and he looked away from her for a second. It made her laugh.
“Even so, she’s upset with me.” He said. “I messed it all up.”
Mina shrugged. “I know exactly what will make her feel better.” She suggested. “If I’ve learned anything about the both of you, a gift is the one thing she always expects from you when you’re away for so long.” Mingyu finally felt a real smile form on his face, and Mina once again was hit by its infectiousness.
“Okay.” He said. “I’ll take you back to the house and then-.” Mingyu stopped his mind immediately beginning to think. She watched him; her smile still prevalent as she waited to see what he would come up with. “I have an idea. I need to make some phone calls.” Mina watched as Mingyu prepared to stro forward, but stilled. Mina caught his gaze. “Come on.” He said.
“Hm?”
“I’ll take you home.” He smiled. “I also need your help.”
“My help?” Her eyes widened. “Even after all of this?” Mingyu nodded.
“I need to know what you think of my idea.” Mina hesitated for a minute, unsure if she should go. She remembered what happened the last time she tried to help him. However, the longer she stared at his beaming face, the harder she was finding it to say no.
“Okay…” she finally breathed out, before approaching him. Mingyu grinned, and the duo descended the steps. It only took a second for Mingyu to look in her direction.
“You’re not actually going to Japan to marry that ‘drunken fool’, right?” Mina had to laugh, covering her mouth.
“Over you? I’d rather spend the rest of my life alone.”

You watched as Joshua and Jeonghan paced the room in front of you. They seemed stressed, but a different kind of stress than they have expressed ever since your contracts flashed red in the first place. You had no idea what to say because you were just as lost as them, and you simply waited with bated breath for one of them to speak.
Finally, Jeonghan chose to. “We have another shot.”
“How?” Joshua asked. “Mingyu is living with another woman and has a ring on her finger.”
“Thanks for the mental image.” You said. Joshua quickly offered you a sympathetic look.
“Well, if it’s not red any more then that means we didn’t fail. It’s back at neutral.” Jeonghan said simply.
“I know that.” Jeonghan put his hand on his hips.
“We should really call Seungcheol now.” He said.
“I think you just want to see me get beat up again,” Joshua said.
“No.” He sighed. “But he’s the only one who knows exactly what is going on. He can tell us what this means.”
“That makes sense.” You finally popped up. “If he’s the head angel of your group, then he must be in the loop with how everything is going. Maybe he can give us more details.”
“I can if you want.” The three of you looked towards the new voice that popped into the conversation, eyes on the balcony. Seungcheol stepped in, closing the balcony door behind him. He put his hands in his pockets. “I was hoping I wouldn’t have to see you again.”
You pursed your lips together, confused by how jovial he sounded as he said that. “Thanks?” Seungcheol grinned at your question.
“Is it just you?” Jeonghan asked.
“Yeah.” He clapped his hands together. “I told them that if you two don’t screw this up royally again, they can all come with me to welcome you back home.” The duo shared a glance before Seungcheol began to explain. “I can’t say much, but I do know that both of you are so incredibly lucky. Whatever happened to Mingyu and this girl, probably won’t last. You need to act right now.”
“But what do we do?” Jeonghan asked.
“What even happened?” Joshua asked. Seungcheol glanced at you, the intensity of his stare making you shiver.
“Don’t be too upset with him, okay?” He suggested. “Hear him out.”
“Okay.” You said softly.
Seungcheol walked up to the two angels before him, patting their shoulders. “I can’t really say much else.” He said. “If he comes to you, help him out. Even if you’re upset with him-.” His eyes shot at Joshua, who immediately avoided his gaze. “I can’t stay around or do anything to interfere. But I’ll have my eyes and ears on everything.”
“Okay,” Jeonghan said.
“I feel like we’re about to rob a bank.” You said. You didn’t expect the trio to give you absolutely disgusted looks even suggesting something like that would happen. “I’m kidding.” You emphasized.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Mingyu was pacing the floor of his living room frantically. “Please pick up. Please.” He begged to himself, listening as the phone continued to ring and ring. Finally, when he heard a confused ‘Hello’, he gasped. “Hyung!”
“…Mingyu?” Hoshi sat up at his desk, pencil in hand and phone on the other. He looked over at his bed, where Jihoon was propped against the side. His eyes immediately rose from his phone.
“Hyung, I need your help. Minnie and Seungkwan won’t pick up.”
“They’re not happy with you.” He pointed out.
“Hyung, I need to make this right and I have my chance. I really need all of your help.”
“What about Mina?”
His eyes darted to the woman in question as she turned her phone off, sticking it into her pocket and examining her luggage, the one time this would probably ever happen. “I’ll explain everything to you when we meet. Please.”
He heard Hoshi hum on the other line and he was beginning to grow impatient. However, he had no room to make demands on Hoshi or any of his friends. He heard the bedroom door open and saw Mina pull a few suitcases into view. He hurried over, grabbed them, and helped her bring one to the living room, his phone still pressed between his ear and shoulder. It seemed she was on the phone as well, listening to the other person on the line. “Hyung, please.” He begged. “You don’t have to talk to me anymore after this if you can’t forgive me. Just help me.”
“Fine.” Hoshi finally said. “I’ll call the others and talk to them.”
“Thanks, Hyung.” He said. “I’m going to get dinner in an hour. If you guys help, please meet me there, okay? I’ll put the address in a group chat”
“Okay,” Hoshi said before hanging up. The uncertainty in his friend's voice made Mingyu exhale a deep sigh of anxiety. Looking down at his phone, he watched his background pop up. He had yet to change it since getting it back from his father, one of you, and him at the fireworks on the beach, holding up a half-burnt sparkler. It was one of the ones that did not get the entirety of the fireworks in the background. He could see Hoshi in the corner of the screen, remembering him and Seungkwan running around with their sparklers. He pulled up his photos, scrolling to that one and the others that surrounded it. His phone was a wall of similar pictures stacked beside one another of the both of you at the fireworks. He scrolled a bit farther, coming across photos of the group of you the morning of your birthday, stuffing their faces with muffins and coffee. Mingyu pulled up a picture of you standing with Hoshi and Minnie, Hoshi’s hands reached up to put a little birthday crown on your head. Even behind his arm, he could still make out your amused grin.
“Are they going to help?” she asked. Mingyu looked over, thumb ghosting over the photo before he could swipe. Mina offered him a little smile.
“I hope.” He said. “I can’t blame them if they don’t.”
“If I know anything about your friends, they’ll come through. They just seem that those kinds of people.” She walked over, catching sight of the photo on his phone. Mingyu held back the urge to stick his phone in his pocket when Mina reached out and took it. She looked at the picture. “I regret not coming downstairs for presents and stuff.” She said. “I was too emotional about everything. I made Jihoon tell everyone I was asleep.”
“Oh,” Mingyu said. Mina motioned the phone back as if to ask if she could continue to scroll silently. Mingyu, though a bit hesitant, nodded. She smiled, her finger swiping through each photo.
“She looked really pretty.” She said. Looking over at Mingyu, she smiled. “Must have been romantic.”
“Aha…” Mingyu’s cheeks turned red, averting his eyes. Mina handed his phone back with an amused giggle.
“No need to tell me the details. I know,” she said. “I saw.” When she saw Mingyu’s nervous smile turn into a stunned and embarrassed expression spread across his entire face, she laughed a bit. “Don’t look at me like that. You did it right in the open in front of the house. I’m sure everyone saw.”
“You think?”
“I’m almost confident,” she said, leaving Mingyu to groan in embarrassment at his hands. She simply strolled to the front door and patted her luggage. “Now, let’s get this by the door so they’re ready for my car.”
“Your car?” Mingyu’s eyes widened.
“I called while you were on the phone. I’ll be heading to the airport right away and going home.”
Mingyu waited with Mina outside of the house for her car, the one that would take her to the airport. “Are you going to be fine waiting at the airport?” he asked. Mina laughed a bit, nodding her head.
“Yes. I can easily have the family plane sent over to get me. If not, I have enough money for a ticket. My father won’t let me go back without a good enough explanation and I’m not really ready to explain everything yet. Besides, I miss home. Living in Korea forever would have eventually made me really homesick.” She turned to Mingyu, who stuck his hands in his pockets and rocked on his heels as a way to pass the time. “Make sure you actually get her to forgive you, okay?”
Mingyu’s expression soured. “You think she won’t?” he asked.
“No,” Mina assured. “I do. I’m just saying to make sure it will work.” Mingyu nodded. “And if you’re not planning to stop talking to me after this, I hope we can still work together one day.” Mingyu chuckled to himself, nodding.
“Maybe,” he said. Mina nodded her head. “Only if you promise to not marry that sleaze.”
“I told you I won’t.” She said behind a laugh, and Mingyu chuckled along with her. She felt a warm bubble in her stomach as his laugh hit her ears, a feeling she had long missed since all this happened. “This is exactly what I wanted,” she said, looking up at him again. Mingyu cocked an eyebrow, unsure of what she meant. However, she turned her heel, watching as the car she called for was approaching. “Ah. There.” she motioned to the car as it pulled up to them, the driver stepping out to help with bags. Mina turned to Mingyu one final time. “Go get her back, okay? Don’t let my sacrifice be in vain.”
“Oh, sacrifice, hm?” Mingyu again had to chuckle in amusement. He picked up her heaviest luggage, sticking it into the trunk before closing it. The driver opened the passenger’s door for her, and she offered him one more look. "Get home safe,” he said. Mina nodded her head politely.
“Bye.” She said, before slipping into the car. Mingyu crossed his arms over his chest as the car started up, pulling from the house and onto the street until it was out of his sight. It was then he felt his phone going off in his pocket a mile a minute, and he had to keep himself calm, the only indicator of his excitement being the corners of his lips curling into a smile. He immediately returned to the house to get his own things and head to the restaurant.
He would fix all of it. He just needed to plan.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Mingyy sat at the table of the restaurant, eyes darting nervously around the room. Servers were brought out food, patrons strolled in and out. The longer he waited, the slower time seemed like it was going. Therefore, the more anxious he got. Leaning back in his seat, he covered his eyes. They said they would come. Where are they? He thought to himself. Did they change their minds?
“Are you falling asleep over here?” A familiar voice alerted Mingyu straight ahead, watching as Seungkwan and Hoshi nestled in the booth across from him. Minnie plopped at his side, setting her bag on the table in front of her. He glanced at the figure at the edge of the table, where Jihoon was standing. Awkwardly. It was obvious that without Joshua, Jeonghan, or you in the mix, Jihoon kind of looked like the adult who was unfortunately placed at the kids dinner table.
Sensing the moment of awkwardness, he nodded his head. “...I was at Hoshi’s when you called.” He said simply, motioning to the flustered individual at his side. Mingyu couldn’t help but chuckle a bit, nodding his head.
“No, it’s a good thing you came. I didn’t know how to get in contact with Joshua or Jeonghan without…” his voice trailed off, but he shook his head. “That’s not the worry right now. I’m glad you guys came. I really thought you wouldn’t want to.”
“I was debating it,” Minnie said. “After the shit that happened at the engagement party.”
“I know.” Mingyu sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“Where is she anyway?” Hoshi asked, looking around. “Mina.”
“She…” Mingyu needed another deep breath, his heart beating in his chest like a wild animal attempting to escape its cage. “She went back home.” The stunned expressions from the table were expected, and Mingyu continued. “We uh…she ended it.”
“You’re fucking kidding.” Minnie gasped, eyes wide. Mingyu nodded sheepishly.
“Yeah. That’s why I called. I want to make things right. With everyone. You guys first.” He was clearly getting embarrassed the more he thought about it. “I fucked everything up and I am so sorry. All the help you guys offered me for her birthday plans at the beach house and I threatened all of it because of my father and his stupid fucking threats.”
“...Threats?” Hoshi asked soft worry in his voice.
Seungkwan’s “threats?” were laced with so much curiosity that his eyes widened. Mingyu nodded.
“He has files on all of you from school. He’s been keeping tabs since I started school and I had no idea. When he heard I had started a relationship he threatened all of your futures.” He shook his head.
“You really hurt her,” Minnie said, and Mingyu nodded in agreement, eyes cast down on the table. “I don’t think she’ll ever recover.”
“I know. And instead of sticking up to him and calling his bluff, I sat my ass down and took it.” He shook his head. “It’s almost laughable now. I’m so embarrassed.”
“You should be,” Minnie said. “It was a stupid decision that came out of nowhere.”
“I know,” he said. “But that’s why I need your guy's help. I want to make it right. Please.” he glanced at Jihoon, who simply listened, his eyes cast out the window. He scanned his friend's faces, all of whom took the silence to process what Mingyu had said. None of them looked shocked, but none of them looked angry either. The neutrality in their faces seemed to fuel the dread in Mingyu’s chest even more. “Please…” he said again. “Do I need to get on the floor and deep bow? I will.”
“...Absolutely, Hyung,” Seungkwan said, only to receive a stern look from Minnie. “What? He offered.” Before Minnie could convince Mingyu not to, he got out of his seat in the booth. The group looked around at the surrounding patrons, all of whom bore witness to this six-foot man kneeling down on the marble restaurant floor, hands pressed at his sides as he lowered his head all the way to the floor.
“I’ll stay here as long as I have to. Until you agree to help me. Not forgive me, but help me. Please, I cannot lose her over this. Or you guys….”
When silence filled the booth, he waited for the sound of squeaking shoes to follow. He knew it was coming, so he closed his eyes, forehead pressed firmly to the cool floor. However, instead of squeaking shoes, he felt a hand on his shoulder. Finally propping himself up, he saw Seungkwan leaning over.
“I was kidding,” he said in amusement. “Of course we’ll help.” Relief washed over Mingyu and it took every fiber of his being not to cry. He got up, sliding back in the booth. Just as he was about to open his mouth, Seungkwan stopped him. “We cannot listen to your plan on empty stomachs, Hyung.”
“You’re shameless,” Jihoon commented with a grin, and Seungkwan’s shield of confidence immediately crumbled him into a blushing mess. Mingyu, however, simply grinned.
“Order whatever you guys want,” he said, motioning for Jihoon to finally sit. “Before my father cancels my card. Max it out for all I care!” He leaned forward, calling over his waitress to finally begin serving them before finally diving into his plan.
As his table melted into the familiar chatter he had long since missed, he knew he could do this. ‘
Suddenly, Seungkwan’s eyes widened behind his drink. “Minnie! Give me my money back!”
“What? Why?!” She gasped.
“I told you the engagement would end!”
“You place a bet on me?!” Mingyu gasped.
“I said that he would end the engagement.” Minnie snapped back. “So technically you don’t win.”
“Neither do you!”
“...You place a bet on me?!” MIngyu asked again when he realized he was ignored the first time. Jihoon patted Mingyu on the shoulder, shaking his head.
“They’ve placed about 3 bets on you.” He said simply. Mingyu rolled his eyes in annoyance, watching as the duo argued well through the meal.
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
It was the following day when Joshua and Jeonghan were planning lunch. Joshua went to get it, assuming it would be you, returning from a needed stroll that you had decided to take in hopes of clearing your head. However, he was shocked when Hoshi and Jihoon were standing at the door.
“Not the pairing I would have expected, but I am pleased regardless.” He saw Jihoon sneak him a displeased sneer. “What do you need?”
“Mingyu needs your help.” Joshua could hear Jeonghan hurrying towards the door as well when the sink turned off, poking his head into the conversation. “We need to all meet at the campus as soon as possible. Do you have any art supplies?”
“Would the school not have art supplies?” Jeonghan cocked an eyebrow. “Why?” He brushed off the side eye from Joshua.
“What does he have planned?” Joshua asked curiously. Jihoon and Hoshi shared a look.
“How much time do we have before she gets home?” Jihoon asked curiously.
“A little while, I guess,” Jeonghan said.
“Let’s go,” Hoshi said, motioning them out. “We’ll explain on the way.” Despite being confused, Jihoon and Hoshi simply took the duo’s wrists and led them out of the apartment, Jeonghan struggling to close and lock up as he was being tugged away.
By the time you had gotten home, the apartment had been quiet for some time, the sun already dipping further behind the horizon. You saw the counters in the kitchen were filled with food mid-prep, an unusual sight. “Did they forget something?” You mumbled to yourself. Simply brushing your confusion off as nothing, you headed into the bathroom. “I need to shower. Even when it’s getting cold, I sweat.” With your arms stretched over your head, you made your way into the bathroom and closed the door behind you.
A warm shower was just what you needed to loosen your tight joints and muscles, some of which were still sore from the walking you were doing around the block. When you stepped out, you immediately sensed something. The same stillness that welcomed you home was still looming through the apartment. Tugging your shirt over your torso, you poked your head out of the bathroom again. “Hello?” you called. Nothing. “…Joshua?” You called. “Jeonghan?” Again, nothing. “Huh.” You stepped into the living room, sinking onto the couch and crossing your arms.
For only a moment, the peace that being alone left you with made you feel just that, peace. You turned the TV on, flipped through a magazine, and scrolled your phone. However, even with the buzz of the TV before you low, the silence was deafening. You looked over to the door, then the balcony. Nothing.
“What am I supposed to do?” You muttered to yourself. “I can’t remember what being alone feels like.” You hummed at the thought. Joshua and Jeonghan had been by your hip this long, being alone felt like a new experience. Even when you felt at your loneliest, they were always there to try their best to cheer you up. Looking down at your hands, you balled them into fists. “I really screwed everything up for them, hm?” you mumbled to yourself. It wasn’t cold, but your hands rubbed one another as if they tried making friction to warm up. “How many people can say that they fuck up a contract with two angels? It’s once in a lifetime and I completely missed the mark.”
You rose from the couch once more, making your way into the bedroom for some pajamas, ready to nestle into something comfy and end your day with a warm meal and maybe a beer. All you saw to even begin to remind you that they have been living in your apartment for the past few months was a few photos of the three of you along the college campus, and the beautiful burgundy dress that was hanging out of your closet. You walked over to it, gently tugging at the cloth. Your fingers brushed against it, tickled by the gentle feel of the fabric along your fingers. “This will be nice to wear for Christmas.” It was at the mention of the holiday, which was still two months away, but felt so close to you, that Mingyu popped in your mind for the first time in a while. His smile danced through your mind as he held out your birthday present. His hands ghosted along your neck and collarbone and he adorned it on your neck. You sighed, finally pushing the dress deeper into the closet and closing it, hoping to completely block the memories from resurfacing again.
It was then you heard the door opening, and you returned from your home. Expecting Joshua and Jeonghan, you were stunned to see Minnie. She turned to you, tugging her hair into a ponytail and smiling. “Hey.” She said.
“Hey.” You walked over. “What are you doing here? Everything okay?”
“Oh, everything is more than okay.” She said. “In fact, we need to go out.”
“What?” You asked. “Right now?”
“Right now.” She said simply. “Go get dressed.”
“I’m already dressed.” You said. Unimpressed eyes scanned your tee shirt and jeans, before staring directly at you with another wide grin.
“Go get dressed into something else.” She corrected. When you opened your mouth to respond, Minnie only pointed. “Go. There’s no time to argue with me. Trust me, okay?”
“What should I wear?” you asked, finally walking back into your room. You heard Minnie following behind. “I was planning on staying in tonight.”
“Wear something cute. Maybe a skirt and a cute top? Oh! Or maybe-.”
“Nicha Yontararak.” You said. Minnie’s eyes widened at the mention of her Thai name. “You did not set me up on a blind date, did you?”
“What?” Minnie scoffed. “No.”
“Minnie.” You said, unimpressed by her attempt to lie.
“I really didn’t!” She said quickly. “Trust me! Now, get dressed so we can go!”
She watched as you scanned your drawers for an outfit that better matched her very vague description of ‘cute’. “You’re going to 100 percent thank me later.”
“I very highly doubt that, considering how confused I am.” Grabbing a long-sleeved striped tee shirt, you made your way to the closet. Digging through, your eyes hit your red dress again, but you immediately pushed it from view in favor of a pair of denim overalls. “There. Better?” Minnie watched you hold the outfit up, her hands stopping mid-text on her phone. It took her a second, but she smiled.
“Perfect.” She said. You watched her look down, typing away on her phone once again.
“Who are you texting?” you asked curiously. “He’s waiting.”
“You’re date.” She grinned.
She only laughed as you groaned. “Minnie, what?!”
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
“I hope everything goes well,” Mingyu said.
“It will,” Hoshi said in assurance.
“Unless it doesn’t. Y’know, being horribly last minute and everything.”
“Why do we still invite you to things?” Seungkwan asked, looking down at the grinning Jihoon as he walked over to a collection of items everyone had brought.
“Hoshi told me to come.”
Hoshi had to cover his face when he felt Seungkwan give him a very amused side glance, choosing to ignore his friend as he continued to work. “I think this will be amazing, Mingyu!” Hoshi said frantically, hoping to divert Seungkwan’s attention. He was holding a few string lights in his hands, smiling.
“You think? Jihoon-Hyung’s right, it’s last minute.”
“It’ll be fine,” Jeonghan said. He patted Mingyu on the shoulder, making the broader individual look over. “She’ll love it.” He nodded, eyes wandering over to Joshua. He was sitting at one of the picnic tables, markers, and papers from the art room spread in front of him. He was scribbling something down, eyes focused on his job: making a few signs. He had already done 3, and this was going to be his fourth. Mingyu excused himself from Jeonghan, who watched him approach Joshua. Jeonghan crossed his arms before Jihoon called him over to help with collecting lights from a box. “Aaah, I’m already too tired for this.” he groaned, only to be ignored when a fistful of lights were stuffed in his arms.
Mingyu sat down across from Joshua, only the movement of the table making him look up. He set his markers down. Mingyu, flustered, looked down at the current sign. It was white, the only color coming from the red and pink hearts surrounding what looked to be the pencil sketch of a saying.
“Do you have everything?” Joshua finally cut through the silence. Mingyu nodded, patting his pocket in reassurance.
“Yep.” He said simply. Joshua nodded, eyes darting back down to color in one of the hearts. “Do you think she’ll forgive me?” He asked softly. Joshua could hear the worry and uncertainty in Mingyu’s voice, directing his attention back to the man across from him. Mingyu pressed his hands together in a tight ball. His eyes were shaking with unanswered questions. Setting the marker down, Joshua shrugged.
“I can’t say for sure,” he said.
“You spend more time with her than anyone,” Mingyu said. “That’s kind of why I’m here asking you.” Joshua nodded his head. “I can tell you’re still mad at me. I don’t blame you.”
“I’m not mad,” Joshua said, crossing his arms and leaning back. He scrunched his nose as he thought, finally nodding his head. “Just disappointed.”
“Oh come the fuck on.” Mingyu groaned with a slight chuckle, palm pressed to his forehead. He heard Joshua chuckle a bit and looked up once again. Joshua spun the sign towards Mingyu. A red marker spun in his direction as well, and Mingyu cocked an eyebrow. Joshua looked down at the paper, a small smile on his lips. “What?” Mingyu asked.
“You have to write the ‘I love you’ of course,” Joshua explained. When he saw Mingyu’s cheeks tint pink, Joshua only pushed the marker closer.
“Why can’t you write it?” Mingyu asked.
“Because if I do then I know someone over there will absolutely make it a bigger deal than it is.” Joshua pointed to the group of individuals who crowded the rest of the supplies. Mingyu chuckled, finally reaching out and taking the marker. Joshua leaned his cheek on his hand as he watched Mingyu write the phrase. “Besides. She wants to hear it from you, not me….” Mingyu’s hand stopped writing for a second, glancing up at Joshua as he simply reached for another color, leaning over and adding a few little doodles and decorations in the corners.
“...She really thought it was me she was confessing to?” He asked. Joshua nodded his head.
“Yeah. It was kind of cute.” he chuckled to himself. “She’s crazy about you, Mingyu. Did you know the first night I met her she was drunk and crying about you going on vacation?”
“Shut up, she was not.” Mingyu’s eyes widened. Joshua nodded, the duo chatting over the first night you and Joshua met as they doodled around the rest of the poster.
Nighttime got closer, which meant you were on your way with Minnie. Knowing this made Mingyu’s palms sweaty, and he paced the area in hopes of calming himself down. He felt his heart pick up, and he let out a shaky breath. “Oh, God I might throw up.” He put his hands on his hips, walking a few paces back and forth. “What if she doesn’t forgive me?”
“Mina’s still available,” Jihoon said. Hoshi hit him in the arm as he laughed. Mingyu took a few deep breaths.
“You think she’ll like all of this?” he motioned to the scene before him, to his friends who all once again banded together to help him out in a bind. Mina was right, they all really were there when it mattered.
“If we didn’t think it would work, we wouldn’t be here,” Seungkwan said simply, peeling at a few boxes of wrapped lights. “Just tell her how you feel.”
“I did that already. Like twelve times.”
“Do it a thirteenth,” Jeonghan said.
Mingyu ran his hand through his hair and snorted. “Oh wow. Thanks…” Among the snickering individuals, he heard someone calling his name. When he looked over, he saw one of the lingering students chatting to someone, pointing to the group in the field. Mingyu sprinted over to the edge of the field, where a woman in a pair of slacks, a bun with a baseball cap, and a polo shirt with a company logo on it. She had a white bag gripped in her hands. Mingyu studied the logo and saw it read Byeong Florist.
“Kim Mingyu?.” She asked. Mingyu nodded and was given a white bag. He took it from her hands, muttering a quick thank you before the woman nodded her head. He watched her walk away for a minute.
“What the…?” Mingyu looked down, opened it up, and looking inside. He was immediately met with a little bouquet of flowers, and his eyes widened. “Hm?” He pulled them out, seeing a note fall to his feet. He knelt down and picked it up, flipping the paper open.
Don’t worry. They’re not meant to be from me to you. Give them to her, okay? She’ll love them. Good luck! - Mina
When Mingyu looked up, the florist delivery woman was already gone, and Mingyu couldn’t help but chuckle. “Alright, then…” he said. Turning his head, he admired the scene before him. “She’ll probably be here soon,” he said.
“Minnie said they were on their way about 5 minutes ago,” Seungkwan said.
“What!?” Mingyu’s eyes widened. “Oh, crap. Okay, what am I supposed to do? Uh-.” Joshua watched as Mingyu rambled to himself, trying to figure out exactly what else he could do to make this perfect before you arrived. He reached out, putting his hand on Mingyu’s shoulder once more. Mingyu looked over, confused as to the sudden increase in Joshua’s physical touch at the moment. Joshua smiled.
“If you stress, she’ll notice.” He said simply. Mingyu felt his shoulders relax, and Joshua could feel his fingers tingle just a little bit. “You’ll be fine.”
“Okay.” Mingyu breathed out, nodding his head. “Fine.”
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶So Close Yet So Far🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
“Why are we going to the campus?” you asked, looking at Minnie. “Aren’t classes just about done for the day?”
“Yeah,” Minnie said. “That’s the perfect time for a date. Nobody is there to bother you. The guy is really nice. He goes to our school.”
“How do you know him?” you asked.
“We are in the same economics class.” She said simply. You hummed. “Just give him a chance. You should get back out there instead of crying over Mingyu.”
“I’ve done no such thing.” You huffed in embarrassment. Minnie’s eyes pierced you. “…Recently.”
Minnie eyed the school as it came into view, and you gulped. The idea of going on a date with someone when you spent all of your college life pining after Mingyu seemed…weird. You didn’t think you’d ever do something like this. However, Minnie reached out and took your hand. “Don’t worry.” She said. “I promise I wouldn’t steer you wrong.”
“Okay.” You said softly. “I guess I’ll trust you.” Your friend smiled in excitement, before picking up the pace. As the both of you headed onto campus, you looked around. Most of the buildings were dark, and closed for the night. A few handfuls of students were still around campus, most heading home for the night or to the library for a late-night study session. You caught a few glances in your direction. In fact, a lot of people were looking in your direction. You looked at Minnie once more. “Why do I feel everyone we see is staring at us?” you asked. “Do I look ridiculous?”
“No. You look cute.” She assured. “Don’t mind them.” Minnie led you down one of the paths on campus, towards the fields where you and Mingyu had originally planned for your birthday weekend. You could remember Mingyu eagerly telling you how he had planned everything for you already, and how excited that made you. The memory made you smile, and Minnie seemed to notice. “You haven’t even seen everything yet, and you’re smiling?”
“Everything?” you asked. “I thought we were meeting one of your classmates.”
“I lied, dummy.” Minnie grinned. Before you could ask for further information, you and Minnie both turned the corner. When your eyes landed on the field a few feet away, they immediately widened.
Mingyu was standing on the field. It was dark, but you could make out his basic features. He was pacing the feet around him, seemingly deep in thought. You looked at Minnie, who shook her head.
“Idiot, I told him to put all of the lights on early so we can all see. It’s getting too dark.” She muttered. “HEY! Mingyu!” Immediately he looked up, and you felt a gust of wind beside you. When you turned to check it, Minnie was already long gone, hidden back around the corner. You could see her long black hair poking out a bit under one of the campus street lights. You turned your attention back to Mingyu once more, and he only smiled in your direction. You hesitated as you stepped onto the field, trying to get a better idea of what was going on. The light of the moon and the few lights still on only left you with a basic and dim view of Mingyu and his attire, standing in front of what looked to be a tree. You watched him turn to you.
When he called your name, you felt your heart speed up, pounding in your ears as the lights turned on.

The Rise, The Fall
Chapter 5: Good Demons, Bad Demons
Chapter Summary:
“Your taste in movies is shit.”
“Hey, that was uncalled for!” Hyejin defended from the other part of the kitchen.
“Hahahahahaha, gotchya,” Haru beamed, satisfied with having annoyed him, “I used to be obsessed with it as a teen, and just recently realized how shit it is.”
“Well, I liked it. It’s decent. I would go and join the fandom, for the sake of having at least watched and enjoyed it,” Hyejin defended her own taste this time.
“You know what this means?” Haru said.
“It means you’re seriously emotionally-deprived and have no interest in the area of romance, if you’ve enjoyed this piece of garbage, that is,” Jeongguk answered without queue.
~this is smut
Tumblr media
They were in fact, a ‘Twilight.’
There was no doubting it. Dark colored clothes, tall-ass teenage-looking people, fair skin, and expensive cars. It was the worst B-grade supernatural fiction Jeongguk had ever watched. It catered to the fantasy of young girls and left no space to imagine with the most mundane vampires ever.
And, the worst part of it all was…
They were, in fact, a Twilight.
Jeongguk regretted having seen the movie at all. He wasn’t actually going to watch it before, but it piqued his curiosity anyway. He’d just glimpsed through a few parts because it was lying innocently in his study room. Just a few frames of the movie had made him anxious and annoyed.
The characters barely had any character, were all fucking aloof-ass cunts and only cared about themselves and their romantic interest.
Haru had spent the last two days sharing her favorite works of media with Hyejin. He’d overheard some strings of media like Harry Potter, Blade Runner, iCarly, and more.
“I was going to say something similar. But you sound more like an asshole when you say it,” Haru laughed, with all her stomach this time while Hyejin blushed in agony.
Haru was suddenly taken away, staring off into the distance. There was no way Jeongguk was inexperienced with romance. He must’ve had his fair share of gorgeous women; which went well with their apparent profile of mystery and wealth.
“You guys are so mean, and all while you were the one who lent this ‘garbage’!” Hyejin pointed an accusatory finger at Haru, “Besides you both have no experience in the field of romance either so go laugh somewhere else.”
There was a sudden silence as Haru and Jeongguk exchanged glances.
Did romance exist in the demon world? Haru couldn’t help her curiosity anymore; she had to know. There was no way, no way that Jeongguk had no romantic experiences. He was literally a walking, talking Twilight waiting to happen.
Consequently, the topic was changed.
“Give me short-”
“You can’t change the topic when I’m no longer the butt of the joke-”
“books. You know, the ones around 100 to 150 pages that make you go ‘huh.’
“Huh? After you called my taste in movies ‘garbage’? If you’re seriously up to it, I’ll get you a list from one of my friends who reads a lot. I’m not a reader, to be honest.”
It was comical how they began ignoring Hyejin all of a sudden.
“I know you’re not a reader, that’s why I asked you for books,” Jeongguk chuckled.
There was a sudden silence again.
“Well…how do you know that?” Haru egged further because there was no answer the first few seconds, “didn’t we just meet?”
Jeongguk’s face was frozen in his previous chuckle. Haru’s eyes bore into him, and found a grin that basically said that he’d known her since forever.
It was Hyejin’s turn to look away this time. She immediately began looking out the window as she put her cookies into the baking tray, guilt apparent in her eyes.
Jeongguk’s voice immediately became small as he covered, “I could tell. You’d only recommend movies and tv series to Hyejin. Not a single book mentioned.”
“Ah. Okay. The way you looked at me all smug kinda scared me.”
Hyejin gave a pointed look to Jeongguk that basically screamed at him to show some guilt. Jeongguk decided to ignore Hyejin’s looks for the time being; it was overbearing as it is waiting for Taehyung to come back around – and remembering how much they were hiding from the girl made it even worse. Would his human ever trust him again after he told her the truth? Not that he cared about her trusting him, but somehow, somewhere, her candor towards his persona and her image of him had began affecting him.
Before her, he didn’t use many words to relay his actions. Now though, he’d started being more expressive with his choice of words and was also more responsive with his facial expressions. He found himself grinning to himself more often, and beaming at others during light conversations that would make both parties chuckle.
It was a good enough change of pace, with all the tension about their Friday meet coming up.
Haru decided to continue the conversation from before, giving him a much-needed reprieve from his own words of folly.
“Do you not love? In the demon world?” Haru looked at Hyejin, then Jeongguk.
She pressed further when there was no reaction from either, “Seriously, no romance at all?”
Hyejin decided to answer her, meekly – egging at Jeongguk for some reason Jeongguk didn’t know.
“We have ‘relationships’. No romance, though. They’re mostly mutually benefitting situationships.”
Haru didn’t want to ask what a situationship meant in their context. She damn well knew what it meant having those relationships. She wasn’t going to criticize something like that without knowing how it actually worked in their realm. That was like spouting bullshit about someone when you were hanging onto them for dear life, for chrissakes.
“Yeah, I’m fine with that much. No need to explain more.” Haru stopped her from explaining further. There was no need to delve that deep into the demon realm; she stared at Jeongguk in wonder.
Seriously, no romances whatsoever, huh?
She thought Jeongguk shared her gaze, for a mere moment. But blamed it on her imagination later. The air between them had turned much sharper than before. Someone had to intervene to break the ice all over again.
“Before you maul me, we still have two days left before the meeting,” Taehyung abruptly apparated out of thin air, a black cloud of smoke forming and dissipating at the same time.
Haru gasped.
“Taehyung-ssi,” Hyejin acknowledged, “You’re here before time.”
“What the-” Haru pointed between Jeongguk and Taehyung, to and fro, while gasping, “you people can teleport? Like out of thin air?”
These bastards had a horrible habit of going silent when she asked the most important questions. Every conversation led Haru to snowball into huge balls of annoyance. The longer the conversations went on, the more annoyed she would get, waiting for answers.
“Why the hell are you driving cars then?” She pointed at Jeongguk in particular this time, “you could have teleported me home instead of dropping me home in your car.”
“We have specific rules, when to use our powers and when not to. It’s ingrained in our instincts so it’s hard to explain, human,” Taehyung was the first one to explain.
“You could say teleporting is for emergencies or something exclusive to demon-business only. It’s still very hard to put into words,” Hyejin added.
“We have to be very careful when using our powers, especially when we’ve chosen to show ourselves as human to your kind. I couldn’t have teleported you home. Public places are a no-go, and we can’t apparate to places we haven’t been to before, so inside your house is out of question too.”
“Is this going to be how it is all the time? She’ll keep asking trivial questions every time I’m here?” Taehyung was visibly annoyed.
Before Haru could say anything, Hyejin interrupted.
“Something seems to be bothering you, Taehyung-ssi. Is everything okay?”
“Nothing is okay,” Jeongguk said in a quiet tone as he put his hand to his ear suddenly.
“Why are they crossing so fast?” Jeongguk asked Taehyung.
Hyejin joined in on queue, holding her palm to her ear.
“So many deaths in a single day? It’s like a reaping,” Hyejin commented softly.
“They’re not answering us,” Taehyung said, “Oldies have fortified themselves in the citadel. Nobody can teleport there either. They’ve likely formed a circle and are summoning something. We literally don’t know what’s happening.”
The oven dinged, and Hyejin immediately opened the glass-case. The aroma of fresh cookies filled the room and Haru breathed in deeply. It was already overstimulating, hearing them in such a panicked frenzy. She decided to focus on the smell of the cookies, but found herself getting lightheaded. Deeper and deeper, she tried to breathe in but found no air getting inside her lungs.
She collapsed.
Asphyxiation written on her face as three heads whipped in her direction on the floor.
“Haru!” Jeongguk reached out in an instant and held her body before her head collided with the floor.
.
“Her presence is faint,” Hyejin said to Jeongguk and Taehyung, “It’s getting fainter by the minute.”
This couldn’t be happening. Jeongguk’s little human was getting weaker and weaker.
“Hyung, quick. We have to get to Keumi’s.”
“Have you lost it, Guk-ah?” Taehyung looked at him in disbelief.
“Well, do you have any other option? Both of you?! The way things stand, we can’t take her anywhere, can we now?” Jeongguk was dreading it more, minute by minute.
“Fine. Fast.” Taehyung shared a look with Jeongguk and Hyejin as the three of them disappeared with the human in a puff of black smoke.
“Ho…didn’t notice you coming,” a man with a small stature and rigid features said.
“Off with the chit-chat. This girl right here -,” Taehyung motioned at the girl and stepped away from Jeongguk, worried he might end up touching the human, “-she died and came to life the past week. She fainted and her soul is feeling fainter, as time ticks by. Fuck off with the whys and hows and tell us what we can do, stat.”
“A little respect for an old man, that’s all I ask. Although we’re all old here. Why am I the only one who looks old?”
Taehyung knew this bastard was going to be tricky and waste their time. He sighed in exasperation.
“Well, then, give the girl a few drops of ambrosia. I can’t believe I’m selling my wares for a filthy human.”
Hyejin was used to such conversations, but the way she’d taken a liking to Haru just made her hold the motionless girl's hand in Jeongguk’s arms harder.
“Come on, asshole. Name your price,” Jeongguk said hurriedly.
“Are you sure you’re up to pay? It might be something you’re not ready to hear,” the shriveled man gave a crooked smile and rubbed his palms together.
“Fucking say it already,” Taehyung grabbed the old man by the cloth on his chest as he spat in his face.
“A day of your time on Earth. Exchange it with me. My time’s running out and I have too many wares.”
“What the fuck?” Taehyung was in disbelief. Keumi was never up to any good, and his deals sounded as ridiculous and stupid as his ugly face.
Hyejin placed two fingers near Haru’s nose and felt her faint breath. She stepped up, without wasting time, “I’ll give a day of mine, if you guys are just going to waste time.”
“Wait wait wait, Haru,” Jeongguk interrupted, “You have to listen to all his conditions first. He’ll get you in trouble within seconds otherwise.”
“You come to my workshop and dare insult my craft. You will pay-”
“Yeah, yeah. We will pay dearly; we already told you to name your price. We’ll let you mooch off a day from us, alright?”
The shrewd old man went quiet for a second, then said with a straight face, “A day from all three of you.” He held out three fingers in front of them just in case.
Taehyung was already reaching out to grab the man, when Jeongguk stopped him by holding his arm. Taehyung noticed he’d already laid the girl down.
“Wait, hyung,” Jeongguk said to Taehyung then shifted his attention to Keumi, “Three days from only my time on earth. It’s the same amount, is it not?”
Keumi smiled. The frail old man liked seeing people in anguish. The chaos Jeongguk’s words had caused was the best example of his favorite kind of chaos. Both deals were good as they were – the first one made them argue, while the second one put a significant toll on one of them.
A day off their time on earth meant leaving earth sooner than they were meant to, having less time to complete their earthen duties when the time came. It could mean a lot of different things, but it could work if they handled their time well – when it came.
“I’ll barter a day of mine too,” Hyejin joined in.
“Hyejin-”
“Haru was my friend first, Jeongguk-ssi,” Hyejin stated, curtly. It was her only few instances of showing impoliteness with Jeongguk. And needless to say, Jeongguk was startled.
The way Haru was sharing all her belongings, including toys from her childhood had awakened the teenager in Hyejin. She’d shared the most memorable moments of her life with Hyejin within a few days’ time, and Hyejin had always wanted a friend like Haru. Human she may be, but Hyejin’s negative experiences with society and the differences in Haru’s human nature just made her like Haru more.
“Well then. Don’t leave me out, brother,” Taehyung clapped Jeongguk’s shoulder, “A day from me too, old man.”
Jeongguk was relieved that they were all on the same page. He didn’t need to question Taehyung’s motives. His older brother always had his back in things like these.
“Heh,” Keumi scoffed. He wanted them to argue or waste more time but they were pretty quick to decide.
He held out a vial in front of them which Jeongguk immediately grabbed.
“Sign these.” Keumi held out a scroll which he brought out from between his sleeves.
All three demons placed their personal markings on the paper after giving it a once-over.
“If this comes to bite us back in the ass,” Taehyung said to Keumi, in a deeper voice, “you’re dead meat.”
Keumi gulped.
“Yeah, well I already told you the conditions,” he explained nervously, “mix it with something so that the ambrosia’s taste is indiscernible. Humans aren’t supposed to know what it tastes like.”
“I have tea ready at home; let’s go,” Hyejin was quick to say.
They returned back to the mansion’s kitchen the same way they’d gone to Keumi.
Hyejin quickly poured some black tea in a cup and emptied the vial into it. It was a mere 3-4 drops but it managed to change the color of the tea into a dark creamy color.
Jeongguk settled the girl between her arms and held her head still while Hyejin fed her the tea, slowly, gulp by gulp. Jeongguk would straighten her head after every sip to ensure it reached her stomach.
He laid the girl on the couch in the main hall, where demons who came for business usually waited for him.
“Is she okay? Can you check?” Taehyung said to Hyejin with a look that said, I’m not touching her, you do it.
Hyejin placed two fingers in front of her nose to check her breathing. It was even, and was turning normal.
“Her breathing’s getting normal,” Hyejin said, relieving Jeongguk.
Jeongguk sighed and took a seat at the adjacent armchair.
Taehyung and Hyejin too, took respective seats in the couches.
“This is scary shit, man. First the council goes crazy, then the girl decides to die again…”
It didn’t hit until a few seconds of Taehyung saying the last line had passed.
“Wait…”Hyejin gave a look that said Are you thinking what I’m thinking?, “Was it consequent with that event? Like the reaping? The elders weren’t answering.”
“No doubt about it.” Jeongguk stated firmly.
“Jeongguk, you’ve been saving a dead girl. I hope you’re aware,” Taehyung said.
Hyejin sighed, rubbing her temples. What did they get themselves into?
Just then, Haru began coming to.
The girl slowly opened her eyes and gauged her surroundings. She looked at the familiar faces and began to sit up.
“Relax. Keep lying down if you want to,” Hyejin immediately got up and sat beside Haru.
“Why was I unconscious?” Disheveled was an understatement. Haru held her head, keeping herself steady.
“Again with the questions,” Taehyung said, holding a poker face.
.
“Jeongguk, can you please, please help me find out-“
“I’m already looking into it,” Jeongguk interrupted, knowing what was coming, “I’m looking into your case, Haru.”
“Two days later, we’re having a proper meeting about this,” Hyejin notified Haru and reminded the other two, “Let’s hope we have something worth moving forward.”
Haru nodded at Hyejin.
Jeongguk took solace in the fact that his name was the first one to come out of her mouth when she needed help. That would do, for now.
“Hyejin, do you think I’ll live?” Haru turned to Hyejin.
Jeongguk was unsure about having to share such attention with Hyejin. Although, it wasn’t an actual problem for him.
“Let’s hope for the best, Haru. I sure as hell am not losing my only female friend ever. I’ll do all I can to help you.”
That was reassurance on a lot of levels. Haru was thankful, truly; it showed on her face.
“I’ll check in with the council now,” Taehyung said, “Seems like they’re taking calls again.”
“Till then, you take care, Haru,” Taehyung gave an upward nod to Haru when he said her name; acknowledging her by name for the first time. He promptly smoked out.
“They better have an actual answer for this. Whatever this was, a reaping or sudden outburst – they will have to answer this time. They’ve been getting away with way too much just because of their authority. It correlates with our current situation, so I’m not letting this go.”
Jeongguk was truly outraged.
Haru wanted to tear up due to all the concern she was getting. What would she have done had she fell into the wrong hands? Thank goodness for these three good demons.
“Will you let me know once you find out what’s happening?” Haru looked at Jeongguk, then Hyejin.
“You can count on it,” Hyejin replied for the both of them.

AT HIS DESIRE

Kneeling on the hardwood floor hurt my knees and back. My back is arched, and I can see the ceiling. The rope slashes the skin on my wrists and upper arms. Time is a figment of my imagination because I have no idea how long I've been here. But I'll be patient. Patiently. This is how Master likes me: chained and partially hanged from the ceiling in my underpants. He'll be overjoyed. That is what I crave. It is my only goal in life. I live my life to please Him. My suffering is insignificant. I'm not going to move unless He instructs me to. Footsteps on the floor alert me to His presence. I know He's barefoot and dressed in those undone, tattered denim that I adore seeing Him in. I imagine Him approaching me with that gorgeous, confident stride that sends my heart racing. I picture His sculpted chest and abs... and those strong arms that always make me feel safe. Because I'm exactly where He left me, He probably has a contented smirk on His lips and a twinkle in His sapphire eyes. I couldn't move if I wanted to, but I haven't complained. I haven't even said anything.
As He approaches, I notice Him running his fingers through his dark hair and biting into his full bottom lip. My pussy twitches with excitement. When he emerges above me, my breathing quickens to the point where I forget to breathe through my nose. My entire body tingles, and excitement courses through my veins. That expression. That is all that is required. The expression that says I've been a good girl and am about to be rewarded.
“Very good, my pet.” That voice. That rich, sensuous voice washes over me like molten chocolate. It can and has forced me to come on multiple occasions. He wraps His fingers around the rope that stretches across my breasts and draws me toward Him. His warm breath brushes my lips as He whispers, "I am pleased." He teases me with the promise of a kiss, but pulls back just before our lips meet. He lowers me gently and steps around me to stand over my face. I can see the impression of His hard cock on His thigh through his pants. He grabs it, squeezing it while He looks down at me.
"Do you see what you're doing to me, pet?"" He inquires. "For you, my cock is hard and throbbing." Are you wet for me?"
"Yes, Master," I respond quickly. He moves forward, his palm slowly sliding down my stomach and under the waistband of my pants. I moan as He runs His fingers along my wet lips. "You are, indeed. But first, my dear, I want your mouth." He straddles my chest and places His hand behind my head, lifting me toward Him. As I watch Him pull down His zipper, I lick my lips. Before Master, I flinched at giving head and only did so on rare occasions. I could spend all day worshiping His gorgeous cock with Him. He pulls it out and squeezes the base while the head trails along my lips.
"Now, open pet... and suck until I tell you to stop." I immediately take Him into my mouth, staring up at Him exactly as He instructed. He twists His fingers into my hair, capturing a grip as I move up and down His length. He pulls down on my head, pushing Himself further till He reaches the back of my throat. He keeps his gaze fixed on me. He pulls out just in time, before it gets too much to handle, and lets me regain my breath.
I lick His balls while He strokes His huge cock, pulling one, then the other into my mouth. He groans and tilts his head back. "That's enough," He says as I move my tongue up and try to take Him back into my mouth. I want to crawl inside your delicious pussy."
My muscles spasm uncontrollably, and my juices run down my thighs. He hasn't even touched me, yet my body is so tense that if He breathes on me, I may succumb. He walks away and returns me to my previous position. Cold steel trails up my inner thighs as He returns. My knees shake and threaten to buckle. I hear a snap as He inserts His fingers beneath the crotch of my pants. He inserts His finger within me as soon as the material slips away. That was all I needed. I charge in, yelling at the top of my lungs. "That's it, pet."
This is how He treats me. My bones have turned to liquid, and I can no longer hold my weight. My knees are wide open, and the rope is taut. He grips my waist and pulls me up, supporting me while He positions Himself beneath me till I'm astride Him. He lets go of the hook that was holding me to the ceiling, and I fall into His chest. His powerful, musky aroma floods my nostrils and revitalizes me. I raise my head, hovering above His cock. He guides me by pressing His fingers into my hips. I whimper as He glides inside me, filling me up like no one else.
"It's so fucking tight. Who is this pussy's owner?" "You. It's yours, Master." I begin to move, and He responds with a tremendous thrust of His own. When He lifts me and places me over His lips, I gasp in amazement. A chill runs down my spine as I anticipate His skilled tongue's contact. He encircles my thighs and pulls me down, parting my lips.
"Oh, God!" His tongue swishes across my clit, licking up my juices." My eyes flutter as He closes His lips around it, suckling like a newborn child on His mother's breast. It's a good thing He likes how loud I am. I doubt I could remain silent if my life depended on it. He releases me and kneels behind me, shoving my face into the floor, before I can even think. When I pressed my cheek on it, I noticed the small vibrator and lube next to me. In anticipation, I wiggle against Him.
"My eager kitten," he grins. He recovers them and puts His cock back within me. I can feel the lubrication trickling down his thumb as it travels over my anus. He slowly inserts His thumb, adding more lubrication. I push back, and He growls deep in His throat. He starts thrusting into me, his cock and thumb working together. As His thumb slips out and the vibrator creeps in, I whimper. Before turning it on, he works it carefully into my ass. I scream as He stomps on my pussy. While the item adds to our game, I'd rather have His cock any day. He adjusts the vibrator setting, and it accelerates.
The sensation, along with His forceful strokes, pushes me over the edge, and I come crashing down—hard and loudly. He increases His grip on my hips, keeping me upright while He pursues His own climax. I clench my fists around Him, and He roars back. He gently places me on the floor, removes the vibrator, and rapidly unties the rope that binds my wrists. He reluctantly pulls himself out of me and flips me over to remove the remaining rope. I look into His eyes as He massages my arms.
He scoops me up and leads me to our bed with a smile. As He pulls me into His arms, He sighs. "How was your honeymoon's first night, Mrs. Kim?"" "Excellent, Mr. Kim. "Don't worry, my love. It will not end." Every day of the rest of our lives will be like this one, with me."
"Yes, Master."

Pairing ➪ Yoonji x Y/n | Jimin x Y/n | Yoonji x Jimin x Seokjin
Word count ➪ 6k Words
Warnings ➪ cursing through out; authors horrible attempt at humor; mentions of blood; mentions of anxiety attack; description of an anxiety attack;
Summary ➪ Y/n needs a place to stay as of yesterday. Her roommate bailed on her, she’s too far from her grandmother, and her boyfriend lives in a box with his best friend. The place she seems to find has everything; space, low rent, a short commute to her job, and seemingly nice roommates. But there are some things that are kinda weird. Like how her female roommate is up at all hours, and her male roommate mumbling about his plants yelling at him in the middle of the night. She can get through this, right?
A/n: Heyyyyyyyyyyy. Damn it took me months to update this one huh. Sorry for being so quiet lately, I’ll update my Yoongi au soon. I hope yall enjoy this update. As always feedback is appreciated and if you would like to be added to the tag list please let me know 💕

Yoonji runs towards the front door; Seokjin’s eyes are wild and dilated, his usually pristine white blouse is stained deep red. His mouth is covered in blood, his cheeks stained with tears and dirt. His usually styled hair is messy and unkempt. “Oh, my god, Jinnie what happened,” she pleads, “Who did this? Was it Choi? I swear to the gods I will drag him out in the sun myself if he-,’ Yoonji stops when she looks over Seokjin’s shoulder, “Jin, what the fuck did you do?”
Seokjin shudders, “I didn’t mean to, I was- fuck. I haven’t fed since I gave you blood. The council refused to let me into the donor wing, even though it's my side of the Kim clan that created it in the first place. To punish my gluttony they said. I asked Jaeyoung for bags, but he never got back to me. I was walking home, taking my way through the park. I smelled blood, coming from the bushes. I thought it was an animal, but the smell got stronger and sweeter, it was fresh human blood. I couldn’t help it, Yoonie. I’m sorry.” Seokjin struggled to hold in his sob. Yoonji needed to figure out a plan and fast, but it seemed the universe had other plans.
Yoonji turned at the gasps that echoed in between Seokjin’s harsh breaths. Y/n stood wide eyed, frightened. She knew.
-
“Oh, shit,” Yoonji mumbled. “Y/n.. I need you to breathe slowly. Please.” The older woman walked slowly towards her younger roommate, hoping that she didn't do anything irrational.
Y/n evades her, running towards Seokjin, “Holy shit, Jin, what happened?”
Seokjin sobbed harder into the tile, struggling to find his voice, “I-fuck! I..I was walking..and.” Yoonji could feel her friend’s desperation, she rubbed Jin’s back in an attempt to soothe him.  “I didn’t know.. I swear I didn’t, kitty.”
Y/n stopped in front of Jin, taking in the chaos that he had brought with him. “Fuck, “she grumbled. She joined Jin on the floor, scanning him for any potentially fatal wounds, “Jin, were you stabbed? Shot? You’re covered in blood, fuck.” Seokjin stared at her, shocked that she would get so close. Their roommate scooted closer to a still Jin, Yoonji watched, frozen. She didn’t want to scare Y/n by trying to pull her away, but she also doesn’t know in what state of mind her best friend would be. There was a large chance Seokin could attack her, if he saw her as a threat.
“Jimin,” Yoonji hissed, “Jimin, hurry, Y/n is getting too close to Jinnie.”
Jimin cursed, he hurried from his pantry with their first aid kit, “I’m trying, I have delicate jars in this thing.”
Yoonji could see Seokjin’s figure tense, his pupils were dilating with every centimeter Y/n crawled closer. “Jimin, please,” she begged. With the wave of a finger and a grunted curse, Y/n fell to her side, they were able to narrowly avoid another incident in their home. The elder was able to catch her roommate, preventing any injuries.
Jimin anxiously made his way towards Seokjin, “Yoon, take her to her room. The spell I used should keep her asleep for a while, let's hope she doesn't have to work a shift tomorrow. We can’t have more people involved.” He carefully lays the aid kit on the ground, hastily trying to find what he needs.
Yoonji takes Y/n into her arms, working fast to get her out of the upside down living room. Once Yoonji settled their sleeping roommate on her bed, she skimmed for any bumps or bruises. The female vampire released a breath she didn’t realize she was holding, nothing seemed bruised or in need of attention, thankfully one less thing to worry about tonight.
-
Yoonji finds her roommates, and a stranger, still stationed in their living room. Seokjin was lying on the couch, his blood-soiled shirt on the floor next to him, dried blood in sporadic places, sweat glistening on his brow. Jimin had finished checking over Seokjin, deeming him free of any detrimental injuries. He was happy to confirm his friend was healthy, but there was still the matter of the man on the carpet. He was tall, and had dark hair. Yoonji was sure he was tan, but the lack of blood is causing him to look sickly. The man was wearing a dark blue matching t-shirt and pants set, with detailing on the hems.
She makes her way to the middle of the room to help Min out. The elder looks around trying to find something to clean up the dirt and blood stuck on her best friend. Yoonji spots and picks the wet wipes Jimin stashes in their first aid kit. While she hastily wipes down every visible stain of blood, Seokjin doesn't move. He’s silent, attempting to control his breathing.
“Jinnie what happened, “she whispered. Jin grumbled, slightly shaking his head, “Mmph.. kitty… I’m tired.”
“I gave him a sedative,” Jimin said, “It’s catered to vampires, so he’ll sleep for a couple of hours.”
“Was that necessary, “Yoonji asks worriedly.
“He was bordering on a feral state; he hadn't been feeding. The overwhelming emotions of fear, guilt, confusion and panic were pushing him to a frenzy,”  he answered. “The last thing he needed was to go into a frenzy, hurt anyone else, and turn feral from the grief. Along with a sedative, I gave him something to keep him settled emotionally after he wakes up. Hopefully his body doesn’t purge it.” Jimin organized the items back into his kit tensely, “Please take the man on the carpet to my work room. I still need to treat him, plus, the smell of blood could set off Jin.” Jimin urgently rose from the floor, speed walking deeper into the house.
Yoonji finished the last of her clean up of Seokjin. Her stomach was less twisted seeing her longest friend safe. She fixed his hair back into place, and makes sure he’s comfortable for his rest.
-
Jimin was fixing a variety of creams and tonics when Yoonji came in with the living room stranger. She lays him on the futon Jimin keeps in his work room, for the days he has too many commissions. She closes the door, wanting to keep any noise from reaching Y/n down the hall. Jimin stripped the stranger down to his underwear, wiping him down with a warm cloth to rid him of any grime and blood. Yoonji takes the remaining cloth, assisting Jimin with cleaning the stranger. They work in silence, neither too sure what to say.
“Namjoon.”
“Excuse me?”
“Namjoon, “Jimin mumbles, “That’s his name.”
The elder stared at her younger friend with surprise. “Did you find a wallet with his ID in it, “Yoonji asked.
“I know him,” Jimin whispered. Yoonji stood shell shocked, “Jimin.. Oh gods, I’m sorry.” They continue to clean Namjoon in uncomfortable silence, until he is free of any grime. “He’s the friend I go on the trails with. He’s always at a park, or working at the plant nursery he co-owns with his roommate. I know Jin didn’t mean to, but I’m so angry.”
Yoonji didn’t know how to comfort her younger friend. She understands why he would be upset, Namjoon was a victim of ‘wrong place, wrong time’. “I know Min, I’m sorry. I understand why you would be upset. Jin didn’t mean it. He must’ve been more blood deprived than we realized, but he would never attack a human on purpose.”
“I know Yoonie. It’s just frustrating to see an innocent person getting caught in the crossfire, especially one that you’re close to, “Jimin sighs. “He’s not hurt, at least from what I can tell. No stabs, claw marks, cuts, or bullet wounds, but that’s not our biggest worry.”
“What is it then? He’s not a werewolf, is he, or a demon?”
“No, since Seokjin was starving, and went into some form of bloodlust. He injected Namjoon with venom,“ Jimin explained. Yoonji cursed, “Fuck! Are you sure?”
Jimin ushered Yoonji to the left side of Namjoon, he carefully tilted his head to the side, exposing his neck. He pointed to the very prominent bite marks, “When I was cleaning around his neck, the blood had a cloudy look to it. I knew he wasn’t sick; if Joon was a werewolf, Seokjin would’ve died within minutes. Namjoon’s body would kill itself trying to purge the vampire venom, if he was a wolf. If he was a demon, Jin would be sick, at worst he would have a stomach ache that would last for a few days, and Namjoon wouldn’t have been affected.”
“So he’s human, “Yoonji says.
“Was, “Jimin answers, “Jin released enough venom when he bit him to start the transformation. If I’m correct, the transition should be finished within 48 hours, maybe less.”
“Less,” Yoonji croaked, “How?”
“Born vampires are the only ones that can turn humans into vampires, correct,” she nodded, “Well, Seokjin is part of an aristocratic family, he’s also ancient. If I'm not mistaken all of that would make his venom more potent. Namjoon is a healthy human, add a potent venom, and boom you have a newborn.”
Yoonji’s mind was going into overdrive, what were they going to do? They had never sired a vampire. From a very young age they’re taught about how serious sire and fledgling relationships are. Sires can be parental figures to their fledgling, if they weren’t romantically involved before being reborn. Fledglings can easily go feral if they’re not guided correctly, or worse their sire’s reject the bond. Things can go to shit so easily. They’ve heard about newborns going feral hours after their finished transition. Seokjin has had to unfortunately, get rid of a fair amount of feral fledglings in his time in the council. It never gets easier.
“Yoonie,” Jimin whispered.
“Yeah,” she whispers back.
“Jin, won’t abandon him will he, “he asked. “Yoon, I know to you two he’s the human that got caught in the crossfire, but he’s my friend. Joonie has been a constant presence in my life for the last year. I don’t want to lose him to this. It might sound selfish, but it feels nice to be treated as normal, or at least be perceived as human. I don’t get envious looks for being the grandson of Park Hyejin. I can talk about plants, and not be told ‘I didn’t ask’. I’m not asked about spells, potions, or favors. I’m not asked about how granny and momma are so powerful, and why I’m not like them even though I’m the first born. I don’t have to take inventory of my greenhouse, or my workroom when he comes over. I’ve never had to use charms around him to keep myself safe. I’ve never had to scour myself, or gifts from him for peeping spells. It’s nice not having to watch my back.”
“Jimin.. I’m sorry. I didn’t know things were getting that bad. I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with this by yourself. I know nothing I say will make it okay. Seokjin will be responsible for Namjoon. Our families have taught us to guide, protect, and love those that we sire. If, for some reason, Seokjin decides to not take responsibility, I’ll become his sire. Namjoon shouldn’t be allowed to go feral, for his mistakes.”
“Will you really, “Jimin asked.
“Yes, I will,” Yoonji said matter of factly. “I might not know him like you do, but I can see you care about him. Like I said he’s innocent in all of this.”
They quietly finished cleaning Namjoon up. Yoonji is beginning to see subtle changes; he’s losing color, his claws are starting to grow out, he’s starting to become free of any blemishes. Namjoon is also starting to breathe more raggedly, she knows soon he’ll stop. The transformation always started physically, while the venom slowly killed the body. Young vamplings were always told the transformation was painful. She’s heard stories of sires sedating their fledglings with all types of concoctions. Most burned through the drugs or alcohol during their transition, or any concussion given to knock them out, was healed. Yoonji doesn’t know how Jimin’s friend will react once he’s woken up after the last breath, but she hopes he’s at least grateful that Jimin sedated him with a spell.
Being a newborn is hell, she’s seen it. Her favorite auntie was turned by one of her father’s younger brothers when she had just turned 14. She remembers the hunger, the sensitivity, the mood swings her auntie experienced. They were lucky to have had resources back then to ensure her auntie hadn’t gone on a rampage.  There weren’t blood banks back then, and donors were a new concept that few clans had taken up. Yoonji still remembers her auntie complaining about her new fangs aching months after the transformation, and the sunlight sensitivity. It’s not all bad, at least from what she remembers. Her auntie was happy she didn’t have to ask for help with carrying heavy loads, she would spend hours gardening with no complaints of being tired, and surprisingly took on lumbering. Of course being immune to every human disease imaginable was also a plus.
They finish off the last of the grime on Namjoon’s legs, double checking on his bite wound, to make sure it's healing properly during the transition. Everything is looking good, well as good as the transition from human to vampire can be. Jimin struggles to put some clothes on Namjoon that look a bit small, but it will have to work. Jimin likes tight clothes, and Seokjin would be horrified if anyone caught him in anything less than his finest. Yoonji is significantly smaller than everyone in the house, even her largest garments would fit like doll clothes on her roommate's friend. They wouldn’t even dare going through Y/n’s closet to find anything worthy of his size or any stray pieces from Jungwoo.
Yoonji helps Jimin clean up the towels they used, putting away the different jars that belong in the first aid kit, and collecting the remnants of Namjoon’s clothes. They continue to work around each other, Yoonji ensuring she stays out of Jimin’s way as he reorganizes to stay calm.
“Min, “Yoonji whispers, “You said Namjoon had a roommate, what are we going to do about that?”
“Fuck, you’re right,” Jimin grumbled. “Hoseok will be worried if Namjoon isn’t home. He’s probably worried sick right now, they make a habit of trying to eat dinner every night. I don’t even know what to do, or what I’ll say to him. As long as I’ve known Namjoon he’s never been gone for more than a few days on his own. Him, and Hoseok always travel together.”
“What should we do, “Yoonji asked.
“I’ll text him from Joon’s phone. I don’t want to, but I’ll just say that I invited him on a last minute camping trip, “he responded. “We’ve been talking about going to the Black Bear Lake campsite for some mushrooms that I’m hoping are in season.”
“Will that work? Do you think he’ll believe it?”
“I’m hoping it will, we’ve been talking about it for a couple of weeks since I gave Joon some samples of my mushroom seasoning, and dried mushroom medley. Hoseok isn’t much of a camper, so we had planned it with only the both of us in mind. Hobi knew we’d leave at any moment, “her roommate explained.
Yoonji nodded, pleading to the gods that his friend wouldn’t come looking for the fledgling.

Okay! Be careful and don’t bring back anything that can make us burn or itch.
Or is poisonous.

No promises
-
Three hours later Seokjin woke up less filthy from what he remembered. He’s free of any grime, and caked blood. The elder assumes Yoonji was the one to freshen him up. Jin didn’t remember much past trying to find his way home with the park stranger.
The stranger…
Fuck..
Seokjin knows he bit the stranger, being withheld from feeding caused him more stress than he anticipated. Checking his surroundings, there’s a lack of blood. He cannot smell, nor see a trace of it. The vampire takes a deep breath to ensure everyone in his home is safe; he can smell Y/n, as well as Yoonji and Jimin, but the slight stench of death is sticking to them. Seokjin frantically makes his way to Jimin’s work room, forgoing any form of cover up.
Seokjin bursts into the room, frightening the duo. The elder vampire sighs in relief. Yoonji runs up to him, embracing tightly, “Jinnie, oh my gods.” Jimin joins next to them, whispering that he’s grateful Seokjin is okay.
Seokjin can hear Yoonji struggling to keep it together. He knows he worried her into an early grave. “Kitty it’s okay, I’m fine I promise,“ Jin coos. Yoonji lets out the small sob that had been stuck in her throat. “Don’t ever do that again, “she demanded. “Fuck the council, and fuck their donors. I can ask my dad to send us blood packs or have donors come to the house. Don’t ever go that long without blood.” Jin soothed Yoonji, he feels terrible for frightening her, and Jimin. The last time he was in this much of a distressed state was a century ago, but Yoonji wasn’t around to witness it.
Jimin guided them to a small loveseat at the corner of the room. It’s a tight fit, but Seokjin will make it work. They pile onto the couch; Jimin on his right, and Yoonji on his left. One has their head on his shoulder while the other is on his chest. Seokjin enjoys the warmth Jimin exudes, and Yoonji draws soft patterns on his stomach with her fingers. He further relaxes by humming a small tune, a lullaby his mother used to sing to him in his youth.
Jimin is the first to speak up, “What happened tonight Jin?””
Seokjin sighed deeply, “I didn’t realize how much time had passed. One day I’m helping Yoonji out of the brink of starvation, the next I’m being sent to Mongolia to aid with a territory dispute.” He paused momentarily. “They had humans.. But they weren’t donors.” Yoonji whipped her head up towards him, “The Mongolians are still taking humans?”
Jin shrugged, “This particular clan did. The Ganbolds are the oldest clan in Mongolia, as well as the most secluded. They’re.. Traditional, at least they claim to be. Anyway, they were fighting with a small vampire village on the border of their shared territory. It took a few days to get there, and even longer to mediate a compromise. I couldn’t even get a decent amount of animal blood.”
Yoonji furrowed her eyebrows, “Were the Ganbolds not sharing blood? Did none of the other elders have any blood to spare? I know for a fact that Na and Suh have a stash they bring everywhere with them.”
“Please, Na and Suh have made it well known how much they dislike my side of the Kim clan,” he answers. “The Gandbolds were not having the best season, to say the least. They had to ration whatever supply they had. I could survive with a little bit of blood. Also I’d set myself on fire before I asked any of those old bats for any form of help. When we came back I booked a couple donors, but when I had showed up they refused to let me in. Apparently Choi, Suh, and Lee have banned me from the donor wing because of the little binge I had.”
“How much is a little binge,” Jimin asked.
“It was three,” Seokjin answered. “It wasn’t even a lot. I’ve heard of Lee drinking from at least five donors at times when he feeds, just because he can. They said ‘Kim, your gluttony is unbecoming of a council member. You are now banned for a fortnight.’” The elder vampire could feel his tension returning, he took a couple of calming breaths, just like Jimin taught him. “I texted Jaeyoung to have a case ready for me. I knew I needed blood for the both of us. He didn’t answer me within the hour like he usually does. So, I decided to walk for a bit while I waited for him to respond. I was taking the long way, cutting through the trail by the park. All of the sudden I got the smell of blood. I ignored it at first, but it got sweeter the farther I walked up the trail. I thought it was a deer, or a fox… but it was him. The man had fallen… scraped his knee. He looked up at me, and he smiled.”
Seokjin swallowed the lump that was growing in his throat. Jimin scooted closer to him, molding himself to fit onto Jin’s side, Yoonji followed his lead. Jin readjusted himself, he pulled Jimin’s legs onto his right leg, and Yoonji onto his left leg. They were practically sitting on him, and the pressure felt relieving. “I was just trying to help him up. But the smell of blood… was too much. I blacked out for a second, when I came to we were full of blood. I freaked out. I couldn’t leave him there, so I brought him home and now we’re here. I didn’t mean to feed on him. I didn’t mean to attack him. I..” The vampire let out the sob that he was holding, “I never wanted to hurt him. I felt disgusted by how much his blood affected me.”
Yoonji reached up and dried his tears with the cuff of her soft cardigan, “I know Jinnie, you’d never hurt anyone.” She gently caressed the side of his face to comfort him, taking in how much regret he was feeling. Jimin stood up hastily, Jin furrowed his brow in worry. “Min, what’s wrong?” The young witch began to pace, murmuring to himself, “Breathe, two, three. Out, two, three.” He repeated this four times.
Seokjin gently removed Yoonji’s lower body from their current position, and he approached his younger roommate. “Hey, Min, I know you’re worried and I-” Jimin paused, visibly collecting himself, “I- fuck. Jin, I knew him.”
The vampire visibly tensed, “You knew him. Fuck, Min, I’m sorry. I.. I didn’t mean it. I swear. It was an accident, I swear Min.” Seokjin could feel a tingling sensation on his nose, he started to feel his face heat up as well as his ears. His breaths became shorter and he was struggling to take deep breaths. Jin could feel his chest tightening, and his head got lighter. He could barely hear Yoonji and Jimin trying to calm him down. Seokjin could hear the witch searching through his jars for anything that could help him calm down.
“Jinnie,” Yoonji whispered, “Tell me five things you see.”
“What,” he mumbled.
“Tell me five things you see,” she repeated.
“Uh, Jimin’s vine plant.”
“Good, what else?”
“Your fuzzy red polka dot socks.”
“Good job Jinnie, what else, “his friend asked.
“Jimin’s sunset lamp, my black hoodie that I’ve been looking for, and Min’s overflowing bookcase,” he answered.
“Okay, tell me four things you smell,” Yoonji said.
“I..uh..smell,” he paused and took deep breaths. “I smell your Eucalyptus body wash, Min’s peach deep conditioner, Y/n’s chocoflan, and burnt candles.”
“Three things you can hear,” Yoonji continued.
“I can hear Y/n’s heartbeat on the other side of the hall, I hear the ‘Alexa’ speaker still playing in the kitchen, and I hear Jimin’s boots,” he responds.
“Two things you can feel.”
“I can feel… my black trousers, and Min’s wooden floor.”
“One thing you can taste.”
“I can taste lavender, from the calming candy Jimin gives me,” Seokjin mumbles.
Jimin comes back to Jin, lavender gummy in hand. “Hey,” the witch said, “Jinnie I’m not mad at you. Eat the gummy, once you’re calm we’ll talk.” The elder vampire nodded, chewing the gummy quickly.
Yoonji guides them back onto the loveseat, arranging him and their roommate back to their prior positions. She fixes Jimin’s legs to go across Jin’s lap, and adjusts herself across both of them. The younger vampire tucks herself under his chin, quietly humming Mrs. Kim’s lullaby.
When Seokjin wakes up again, his roommates are clinged to him. Jimin is humming a tune of his own, and Yoonji is tracing the tattoo on the witch’s arm. He closes his eyes, enjoying feeling cared for by his friends. The older vampire tries to stall talking about their predicament, but he knows Jimin is aware that he’s conscious.
“Jin,” Jimin says, “I’m not mad.” He sits up, looking straight at him. Seokjin actively avoids meeting his friend’s eyes, he refuses to see how much he’s hurt him. The witch sighs, “I’m not mad Jinnie, I was scared. Terrified.” Yoonji gestures for him to listen to what their younger roommate was saying.  He nods for Jimin to continue, “Do you know how horrifying it was to see two of my friends covered in blood? I thought someone attacked you both.”
Jimin paused, taking a moment to find the right words to say. “When I saw the bite marks.. I knew that it was yours. I know that you didn’t mean to. I know that you’d never attack a human on purpose, but..,” he sighed. “But I was still angry. I know that to you, and Yoonji, he’s a stranger, but to me he’s Joonie. I meet him every Wednesday without fail. I’ve met his roommate. I’ve eaten dinner with them multiple times. His roommate, Hoseok, has commissioned work from me for personal use. I’ve been a part of his life for the last year. I’ve never told him about the magic, and spells, and all that supernatural part of my life. It was nice not having to worry about keeping myself protected from any form of hexes, peeping bugs, or befriending him without second thoughts that he was trying to learn about my family magic. I was just Jimin. When I saw him all bloodied and pale, it felt like my bubble burst.”
Their younger roommate hesitated, “I’m sorry for thinking that you would purposefully hurt anyone unprompted. I was so worried when you were growing closer to being feral.” Jimin sniffled, struggling to keep his tears in. Jin reached out to his friend. He takes a hold of Min’s smaller hand, intertwining his longer digits with his shorter ones. The gesture brings comfort to the witch, and he continues. “It’s one thing to have strangers come up to me with different afflictions, but it's another to see your loved ones in trouble. All I kept thinking about was, ‘What if Joon isn’t human?’ ‘What if Jinnie’s body doesn’t react well to the blood? What if a hunter saw you?’ I thought about a lot of ‘what if’s’. But seeing you hysterical with regret, and grief, I couldn’t stay upset at you. I’m sorry Jinnie.”
Seokjin pulls Jimin with a gentle hug, swaying just a bit as he rubs his back in comforting motions. Jin knows his younger friend is trying his hardest to keep it together. This evening hasn’t been the kindest to them, and he’ll hold no grudges towards the high emotions that ran. The elder vampire gives Jimin one final squeeze. As they’re pulling apart, without thinking, he leans in and plants a kiss on the crown of his friend's head. “It's okay Min, I understand.”
Jimin pulls the elder back into a hug, hiding his face on Jin’s chest. He can hear Min’s soft sobs, and feel the fresh tears falling on his skin. Jin pulls him in for a tighter hug, laying his head on top of his to further comfort his friend. They stayed wrapped in each other until Jimin had cried himself exhausted. The elder guided Jimin back onto the loveseat, tucking him into the corner with one of the many blankets the witch has stashed.
The elder vampires decide to take turns monitoring their roommates. Jimin and Y/n were still asleep, while Min’s friend was in the midst of the transition. Yoonji had to be the one to tell Seokjin about Joon’s condition. Jin was nothing short of horrified, not even when he was a young vampling had he accidentally released venom into a human. Animals, maybe, but it paralyzes them. He felt ashamed, completely unworthy of his family’s trust to represent them in the council. Jin knew how important it was to not only be a dutiful sire, but full consent of the transformation was something that was repeatedly brought up. Forever is a long time, no one knew that more than them.
Seokjin felt horrible taking away Namjoon’s choice. He knew he’d have to tell the man about their world; how they live, the council, who to avoid regarding blood, the sensitivity to everything around them. It would be overwhelming to the new fledgling, but he was determined to be the best sire he could be.
It’s around the early AM’s when the vampires decide they want to rest. Namjoon’s breathing had evened out, and he was no longer struggling, they felt they could step away to drink some O positive coffee. Yoonji had convinced Jin to change into his most comfortable clothes, dark joggers and the black hoodie in Min’s workroom. They worked together to get a small breakfast going. Jin made their coffees, while Yoonji made them toast; Jin’s with nutella and strawberries, Yoonji’s with butter and mixed berry jam. They make extra coffee in case Jimin wakes up soon, or gods forbid, Y/n wakes up.
The older roommates stood by their kitchen island, enjoying the quiet in their home. Seokjin took a long sip of his cup, “Did Jimin say how long it would be until his friend finished the transition?” Yoonji nodded as she chewed a large bite of toast, “He said it would take 48 hours, give or take.”
“That soon,” Seokjin murmured, “It usually takes a few days.”
“True, but Jimin said that since not only are you old as shit-”
“Hey!”
Yoonji chuckled, “You’re also an aristocratic born vampire, according to him that all factors into the potency of the venom.” Seokjin grimaced, “Who knew my amazing pedigree would be my downfall.” His best friend giggled a bit at that one, “Right, here I thought your lack of filter would be the one to take you out.”  Jin guffawed at his younger friend, but joined in with her laughter.
In the midst of their carefree moment, they hear the clanking of bottles in Jimin’s workroom. Seokjin gestures for Yoonji to stay in the kitchen. If the new fledgling has finished his transformation he has to ensure his home, and the people in it are safe. The elder vampire carefully made his way into the hallway; he can hear three heart beats, and that instantly lowers his defenses. Jin knocks lightly on the door, opening it slightly, “Min, are you up?”
Seokjin was able to hear the rustling of a blanket being folded, and pillows being arranged. He hears Jimin’s steps being muffled by his piggy slippers, slightly sliding once he’s walking on the hardwood floor. The smell of Dragons Blood incense, and something muskier bleed out from the cracks. Jimin hurriedly squeezed himself out, carefully closing the door to his room. “Sorry, sorry, I had to clean up.” Min gestures for Jin to follow him towards the kitchen, waving at Yoonji as he walks in with Seokjin. She visibly released a sigh she was holding in, relieved it was their younger roommate making a ruckus so early in the morning.
The roommates finished the rest of their breakfast in silence. No one wanted to pop their little bubble of normalcy. They share their small spread, Jin refilling their drinks. For a moment he can pretend that he doesn’t have a fledgling in the other room. He can pretend that Y/n is sleeping in from how often she turns off her work alarms. They can pretend it’s a slow morning, but reality is never that forgiving. Yoonji is the first one to slightly perk up, she tells them she heard Y/n’s alarm go off and be turned off. Seokjin heard the muffled ‘fuck’ from their roommate’s room, he could also hear the slamming of drawers and the creaks of the closet door hinges. The three of them sat still as Y/n walked out of her room, carefully closing her door and entering the hallway bathroom.
Yoonji waited until they heard the shower start to say anything. “Min, I thought you said she would be passed out for the next day,” she hissed. Jimin looked at his roommates with just as much confusion, “She should’ve been knocked out until tomorrow, at the least. I already texted her boss that she had been sick all night. What are we going to do?”
The elder vampire vampire was scared shitless, to say the least. “What spell did you use,” Yoonji asked. Jimin furrowed his eyebrows, “It was the spell I use on Jungkook when he’s having one of his energy bursts. He’s a werewolf so it only lasts so long on him. Y/n is human, she should’ve stayed asleep for days.” Yoonji visibly grew tense, “She must be one of us. Maybe she has a charm or some form of glamor. I mean you used a spell for a fucking werewolf, she should’ve been sleeping like the dead.”
“That’s impossible,” Jimin answered. “I have powerful spells that remove any form of glamor; spells, potions, or charms. Y/n wouldn’t have been able to take a step across our doorstep if she had done any of that.”
As his roommates were trying to solve their current conundrum, Seokjin tried to go through the list of their kind that could have possibly bypassed the witch’s protection barriers. Every humanoid he thought of could easily be detected by Jimin’s spells, even the weakest of witches. “Have there been any humans that are probably immune to that form of magic,” the vampire asked.
“I’ve personally never seen it, maybe my granny or mom have, but they’ve never told me about it,” Jimin answered.
Seokjin thought back to his mother telling him stories about different creatures and humanoids. The only other of their kind that it could possibly be was a magic sensitive, but as far as his mother told him no one in their world considered them supernatural. “What about a magic sensitive?”
“Huh,” his roommates exclaimed.
“A magic sensitive, “Jin repeated, “It makes sense. Think about it, she’s easily bonded to Kookie, Y/n hasn’t had any form of reaction to Tae, and we all know how hard that is for humans.” Both his roommates nodded in agreement. “She’s mentioned seeing sprites around Jimin’s greenhouse, but he was able to make her think they looked like flies.”
“I remember that,” Jimin says, “I had to say they were fruit flies from my compost.”
Yoonji crosses her arms in thought, “Y/n is always able to find anything I lose, comes in handy when I essentially lose my house keys on the regular.”
“I think she has premonitions,” the witch adds. “She’s talked to me about some heavy deja-vu she’s had since moving here.”
Seokjin took in all the information, “Then she’s a magic sensitive. That’s the only logical explanation. She doesn’t have any form of power like Jimin does, and if she was some form of creature she wouldn’t be able to walk into our home unscathed.”
“What should we do,” the female vampire wondered aloud. Their normalcy was falling apart, and there was no way to stop it.

Stream of Consciousness Science Cuties NamJin
Ramble:
Every day, Namjoon sits next to his crush in the science lab. Kim Seojin is quiet, shy, and barely speaks to Namjoon. But, Namjoon doesn't really mind. There are little moments that make up for the lack of words, like how Seokjin's cheeks heat up every time Namjoon's fingers brush his when they're sharing slides to look through in the microscope.
Namjoon knows that he's on the nerdy side himself, and he's not ashamed of it. But the day that Seokjin sits down and the little pokémon charm peeks out of the zipper of his book bag, Namjoon positively lights up. It's the first time the Seokjin properly talks to him, and Namjoon considers it a massive win.
He tries to pay attention. He really does love biology, but something about Seokjin keeps distracting him. Maybe it's the softness that appeals to Namjoon, he isn't sure, but Seokjin's full dumpling cheeks, cute double chin, and rounded waist for some reason make Namjoon practically salivate. He finds himself peeking at the man's soft tummy that presses against the inside of his fuzzy sweaters, pulling them tight and rounding him out. Seokjin's thighs swell against the restrictive fabric of his jeans, and Namjoon can't help but stare at the way his creamy skin bulges out of the illegally high rips up his thighs. Namjoon bites his lip as he notices a few little pink stripes on the other's waist and soft hips when he bends down to get his textbook, and his sweater creeps up. Namjoon knows he's being weird... and potentially creepy. Honestly, he's trying not to stare. But how can he not notice how pretty the other man is? How can anyone in the lecture look anywhere else besides Kim Seokjin? No one else seems to have the same problem as him, and Namjoon sits on his hands for the rest of the hour just to be safe.
The weeks pass, and Namjoon slowly coaxes more words out of the other who seems to be growing considerably more comfortable with him, especially once Namjoon starts sharing half of his protein bars that he doesn't really need anyways. But it's so worth it, because of the way that Seokjin's eyes light up whenever he offers half of his food at the start of class sneakily underneath their table. It's really adorable... so Namjoon keeps doing it, just to get closer to him and glimpse the pretty smile that he might be getting addicted to.
As much as he tries to be good, one moment is burned into his mind, and Namjoon almost wishes that it hadn't ever happened. The previous group must have spilled some of the solvents they were analyzing on the floor, and been too rushed to clean it up. There was a nearly-invisible puddle right by Seokjin's seat, and Namjoon was on his way back to their lab station with some paper towels to clean it up. Just as he was bending down to wipe up the saline solution, Seokjin's tennis shoe entered his vision. Namjoon watched his foot slip practically in slow motion. On instinct, he shot his hands out, firmly grabbing one of Seokin's thighs, and the other steading the man's thick waist. Namjoon didn't even realize what he was doing until Seokjin was clutching the edge of the table, nearly toppled over, but successfully held up by Namjoon's hands that sank into soft pudge.
Heat exploded on Namjoon's cheeks, and he shyly looked up from where he was kneeling. From this low perspective, he could see the very bottom swell of Seokjin's belly that his sweater loosely hung over, how the chub gently spilled over the waistband of his jeans that was right in line with his face, and how- Namjoon gulped- Seokjin's perfectly rounded tummy looked full and distended like he'd just eaten a big lunch.
A string of incoherent words fell out of him, laced with apologies as Namjoon blushed even harder and peeked up higher to take in Seokjin's equally mortified brown eyes and his prominent double chin. The second that his friend- were they friends?- was stable and not in threat of slipping, Namjoon let go of the warm softness that filled his hands. His palms immediately felt cold, and he could have whined that he wasn't touching the perfect man any longer. Maybe he did whine, but he really hopes that he didn't.
Namjoon busied himself with cleaning up the spill as Seokjin plopped onto the lab station's stool, and he only glanced up once to see how Seokjin's plump asscheeks were too big for the measly circle of wood that was probably designed only for twigs like Namjoon. He stood up fast, nearly smacking his head on the underside of the counter if Seokjin hadn't grabbed his shoulders and given him a small smile as he pulled him out of harm's way.
Namjoon stuttered apologetically, asked if he was okay, and finally righted himself just to shove his glasses back up his burning nose. He definitely sat on his hands. They ached from feeling such delicious squish, and they threatened to chase another handful of the soft warmth.
Namjoon tried and failed to keep himself from glowing the entire rest of the lesson once Seokjin let out a breathy "thank you, Joon-ah," right next to his ear and gently squeezed his shoulder.

As a directioner, my heart often hurts when I watch BTS. They truly love each other. As an army, it's so evident. And it hurts that my 15-year-old self thought One Direction was close. That they were happy.
BTS is so honest about how they feel and they always show up for each other. Because they allow each other to have the spotlight when it is their time. Jimin showing up for Hobi's performance in Loolapalloza is a great example of this. I don't think one direction members have ever done that. They were never each other's safe spaces unlike how it was marketed to us.
5Sos are also the same where they truly care about each other and they support each other no matter what. And I think it breaks my heart more because I wonder how different One direction would have been if they had the freedom. If Zayn was allowed to make the music he'd wanted at the side or even with the band? Would their mental health been better if they had been allowed to address it? Would they have been friends, if they were able to all pursue their passions and have breaks in between? I often wonder so much about it cause my heart hurts. It hurts that could have had the camaraderie BTS, 5 seconds of summer, and even Little Mix share. While it was very evident, fifth harmony never got along. A part of me always thought that One Direction did. Louis did protect Harry in the beginning. Zayn did have a bond with the members. Maybe, it got worse with fame. But sometimes I feel so bad that in part I was part of the reason that Zayn, Louis, Harry, Niall, and Liam were unhappy.
