German person here.

As far as I know, most Germans keep their washing machines in their bathrooms. But some choose to put them in the kitchen or even the hallway. Why, you ask? Honestly, I stopped questioning it a long time ago.

Here are the top reasons (probably):

No space in the bathroom.

No power socket or water connection where the machine belongs.

They just want to keep you guessing.

Immediate clean-up for when that spaghetti sauce goes rogue.
