Early version of Aku

In final show we got the supernatural creature with incredibly interesting biology and pretty tragic shades in backstory (I recommend to read my analyze of Aku for whole picture). How we found out, Aku’s backstory and nature in 1 season differs from what we finally saw in “Birth of Evil” dilogy. In 1 season various characters called Aku a wizard, even Aku called himself a wizard instead of demon. Talking about creating the story, Tartakovsky referred to Aku exactly as wizard, not demon or whatever. That means, originally Aku supposed to be a sorcerer, i.e. human, apparently corrupted with black magic. And looking at his early designs... that’s not surprising. Although having the ability of shapeshifter, he looks like a human in kimono and helmet. And here he is named after Loki, so there’s various anagrams of this name (Ilok, Ikol, Kilo, Kloi, Koli etc). I don’t know, how this early version would work in the show. At least, if we discuss about character design.

This one is the closest to the final animalistic design, and he’s pretty creepy. Some eeriness in this old man in black cloak and spiky helmet. And he reminds me a bit Grunwald the ice sorcerer from anime “Hors the sun prince” (1968).

In final 1 season 1 episode there’s still some easter eggs of this early design:

And if inside the classic seasons, since they had no finale yet, the  otherworldly demonic creature with an animalistic appearance, born from a particle of cosmic dark matter, looked intriguing, epic, tragic in its own way and with great potential for cool unconventional character development... then, with the existence of 5 season and its very banal plot and primitive ending, a reasonable question arises — what’s a point to make Aku a descendant of an ancient cosmic being, i.e. to make him a demonic being, if it is not revealed in any way and does not come up in any way and does not affect the character and the story? If they had left him a sorcerer from the time of 1 season or from earlier versions, nothing would have changed at all.

Not Me politics+art links from Nuchy

here are some cool political/artistic Not Me things I’ve learned from scrolling through Nuchy’s twitter, and then watching this 2+ hour long english subbed interview with Nuchy and the two other writers of the show, Noolek and M:

The van liberation scene in episode 14 was heavily based on a real-life thing that happened (video of the real-life event is included in this tweet) (I haven’t found any info beyond this video, so if you know when/where it happened or have a news article about it or something please share, I’m so curious!) - Nuchy tweeted “The scene in the series seem to be like a miracle but actually it's  inspired by the true event. We cant film an extravaganza people chasing the van scene, so I changed to the pov of the gang in the van instead with a new perspective and artistic approach.” - Noolek tweeted (this one’s just run through google translate though) “You guys are our inspiration in this scene. The scene is gone and I cry every time I watch it. It triggers us a lot. We pecked ourselves with a million swearing in our heads. but when the fire has been ignited The candle flame will never be extinguished again. because sovereignty truly belongs to the people” - Nuchy held a Twitter Spaces event with Amnesty Thailand talking with families of victims of forced disappearance.

the speaker on the megaphone at the protest in ep 13 is Thatchapong Kaedum AKA Boy, a Thai activist who does a lot of work - against the Chana industrial project (”which includes the construction of industrial facilities, deep-sea ports, and biomass power plants. However, the approval was made without any local participation and many questioned the government for its lack of inclusion and transparency.") -in support of Karen people’s right to return to their homeland in Bong Kloi in the Kaeng Krachan forests in Thailand, after being violently displaced to create a national park there

... you may recognize the details of this story from a combination of Not Me plot points: a) the native people who were forced off the same land Tawi built his house on because they couldn’t “prove” residency on that land b) the diplomat interview question White gets about UNESCO refusing to grant world heritage site status because of Thailand’s human rights abuses-- this notably did NOT happen here-- UNESCO granted Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex a spot on the World Heritage List despite human rights advocates saying they shouldn’t.

Nuchy invited real activists to be part of the crowd in multiple protest scenes as well-- the crowd from that scene in ep 13 were from Talu Fah, a pro-democracy protest group, and the pride rally crowd were real LGBT activists.

The rainbow flag scene was not originally going to be a whole pride thing, it was going to be a mostly Tawi-centric protest. But then, like 3 days before they shot that scene, the Constitutional Court upheld section 1448, which defines marriage as only between a woman and a man, so Nuchy decided to gather up her LGBT activist contacts real quick to add in that element.

this June Nuchy shared a video from Thailand’s first official Pride parade in 16 years: people jumping and dancing under the flag just like the scene from Not Me 

Nuchy highlighted some artists featured in the series!: - Rap Against Dictatorship, from the scene where Eugene dances, are here on twitter and here’s an English-language article about their song “16 years” (I can’t find the lyrics translated into english sadly, but I do really like this song! and the article gives you a vague outline of what they’re talking about.) - Oat Montien, who did Yok’s art! He is a friend of Nuchy’s, and she mentioned she chose him because his art explored homoeroticism. He actually came on set and worked with First on how to pay attention like an artist would for his drawing scenes. - KNN.5 who did Namo’s art! - Baphoboyz, who did the UNAR art!

Forbidden, the first Thai-language HBO series, will be coming out sometime this year! it’s a supernatural thriller show directed by Nuchy and Josh Kim.

Nuchy will be directing a Hollywood film with producer Dean Altit and the writer JittiRain. The article says there will be one lead actor from America and one lead actor from Thailand!

               Segil surgiu do choque entre o Limbo e o Plano Astral, ele e seus muitos irmãos titânicos foram arremessados para diversos cantos do multiverso, megapoderosos e sem objetivos. Por sua mera existência, os sóis criavam vida acidentalmente ao seu redor; estrelas, planetas, titãs menores, seres extraplanares, orbitavam esses grandes astros celestes para tentar captar um pouco de seu poder.

               O deus do sol era um destes sóis, jogado para o Plano Material, onde existiu um milhões de anos apenas contemplando tudo ao seu redor, sem menor interesse por nada que existisse. Segil vivia em um constante estado de transe, sentindo tudo ao seu redor e seu próprio poder, ele sentiu quando os Aboleths Anciões chegaram ao multiverso e começaram a brincar de deuses em um dos pequenos geoides que o orbitava. Sentiu quando Aiga e Narchae chegaram ao Plano Material, sentiu quando elas expulsaram os aboleths e começaram a moldar a vida em Hernas, também utilizando do poder do titã solar que jorrava de seu corpo celeste para dar energia a suas criações. Sentiu a chegada de Otth e o nascimento de Kloi, observou enquanto aqueles titãs faziam algo tão estranho com o poder que emanava de si, eles não tomavam a energia solar para si, mas sim a distribuíam na fauna e na flora do pequeno planeta.

               Durante a Guerra Planar, Segil e seus irmãos sempre se mantiveram neutros em relação à busca pela Joia Planar, estes corpos celestes já eram megapoderosos, não precisavam de mais poder. Muitos tentaram convencer Segil e seus irmãos a se unirem a seu lado da batalha, mas nenhum dos titãs solares se uniu a nenhuma causa. Quando a Joia Planar surgiu em Hernas e a guerra tomou o pequeno planeta, Segil observou de longe, pela primeira vez sentiu a necessidade de agir para proteger aquele pequeno milagre feito pelos titãs criadores, mas temia que seu poder fosse estrondoso demais para conseguir agir sem destruir o planeta em consequência. Depois de instaurada a Lei de Kloi, Segil cedeu sua forma titânica para que continuasse regando Hernas com sua energia solar e então o titã se tornou um deus, ascendendo ao Panteão junto dos outros titãs criadores.

               Segil decidiu não se manter mais sem agir, sua não interferência causou muita destruição por consequência, agora o deus busca ensinar que aqueles que tem o poder de agir contra o mal e não o fazem, são também coniventes com a destruição daquilo que é bom.

The Inaugural Golden Watercone Ludo Tournament

Back in Summer of ‘22, Aubrey (of Aubrey’s Watercones™️) lured many IG+ DJs into her Plato lair, where we soon discovered ludo, a game where neighborly kindness is not rewarded, and instead, pouncing (later to be officially named chomping) upon your friends, is highly encouraged.

Over the following months, we trained amongst the best of the best, learning the ways of ludo. Little did we know that we were actually practicing for this moment in ludo history: The Inaugural Golden Watercone Ludo Tournament. 

The tournament announcement by Pygmalism on November 9, 2022 induced excitement throughout Turntable, Plato, and Discord. On November 16, 2022, Matt posted the official artwork featuring the (original?) 18 contestants.

Two days later, the stakes of the competition increased when Noiz announced that Rocka would buy the winner a house! On December 5, the brackets were posted. 

The first game of the tournament was Aubrey vs Lee, with Aubrey coming out as the winner (4-1). The second game, AgLikeSilver vs Karyna, was neck-in-neck, until AgLikeSilver took the lead (4-2).

In Talia vs Lepozza, Lepozza advanced to the next round with a score of 4-1. 

The first game in the second bracket was Noiz vs Lepozza, where Lepozza continued her victory streak. Noiz was quoted as saying, “The king is dead. Knew it was rigged!” to which Lepozza replied, “It’s always like that. A woman gets on top, and then she RIGGED her way there. Ok noiz, hold your chompers my friend.” Well said, Lepozza.

The next games in bracket 2 were AgLikeSilver vs AllieB, where AllieB took the lead (4-3), and Matt vs VeganDollhouse, where House took the lead (4-0). Some comments from spectators included, “Smashed and chomped” and “a massacre.” Then Chicoe beat Pygmalism (4-0), to which Pygmalism called Chicoe a “worthy adversary.”

Next up was Aubrey vs Raxxq, and even with Raxxq’s kiddo professing their love for mommy publicly, Aubrey still managed to overcome the mother-child love bond with a win of 4-3. The final 2 games of round 2 were Siremobunny vs Triplebud (2-4) eliminating emobunny from the tournament and Natalie vs Capybara (4-2), progressing Natalie to the next round. DJGimp was too scared to even show up, giving Vlone the automatic win and advancement to the third round of the Golden Watercone Ludo Tournament, sponsored by Rocka and Aubrey’s Watercones™️.

Before round 3, Matt gave a half-time recap at the end of day 1.

“It is important to note that Aubrey is coming back from a ludo retirement earlier this year. She is certainly back in action now and poses a real threat! House dominated her first round! Her opponent didn’t score a single point! I think she has a strong chance at making it all the way! Lepozza was able to knock out Noiz, who was rumored to make it very far!!! I think Lepozza will be a STRONG CONTENDER in future rounds! Triplebud was up bright and early to greet his opponents in plato chat! i think this kind of dedication could go a long ways in this competition. Natalie, who we just watched, shows a strong game knowledge and strategy (and a vry cool game board). Keep an eye on Natalie! AllieB is KNOWN to be vry good at games. Ludo is no exception here! Chicoe is rumored to be carrying the LUCK OF PYGMALISM after defeating her in the first round. WILL THAT BE ENOUGH?!?!”

Halftime bets were placed. Pygmalism bet 10 bopcoin on Chicoe, and Kloi bet 10 bopcoin on Aubrey. Lee was quoted as saying, “No pressure but I’m putting all my money on Aubrey.”

On Day 2 of the tournament, Vlone played Aubrey, and with the luck of his car ludo pieces, won the match 4-3. Chico beat AllieB with a final score of 4-2. Lepozza vs Triplebud (4-1) ended in Lepozza’s 3rd victory in this tournament. Triplebud was quoted as saying, “It was destined to be.” The last match of round 3, Natalie vs VeganDollhouse (3-4), was a surprise for everyone. Some comments from spectators included a reference to the power of veganism, as well as the following.

“Literally just said ‘ohhh shit’ loud enough to scare my partners cat. WOW.” - Pygmalism

“this game is insane!” - Matt

“this game is TENSE” - Chicoe

And that closed round 3.

With round 3 at a close, Matt gives us another recap.

“As we head into the semi finals we have seen some insane plays all around! Newcomer Lepozza tore her way through the competition and shows that she is NOT messing around! HOUSE, who we just saw pull off a stunning comeback has a strong chance at the golden cone with plays like that! CHICOE is still carrying the luck of pygmalism!!!! WILL CHICOE’S LUCK RUN OUT?!?! LOGAN’S FIRST AND ONLY GAME IN THE TOURNAMENT WAS QUICK AND SPEEDY. Will he be able to keep up?!?! Did he pack his spare tire?!?! We will find out!”

Semi-final bets were placed. Pygmalism raised her bet on Chicoe to 20 bopcoin, but more importantly granted Chicoe the has the LUCK OF PYGMALISM and therefore also the very highly sought EXPEDITIOUS ENDORSEMENT. Aubrey bet 100 on Lepozza. Natalie says “my coin is on Doll,” and gave doll the power of the green hair.

In the semi-finals, Chicoe beat Vlone (4-2), and VeganDollhouse beat Lepozza (4-1). Some comments include the following.

“VeganDollhouse has delivered some of the most brutal chomps of the entire tournament. I am proud.” - Pygmalism (and integral member of Doll’s ludo training team)

“Vegan obviously rigged it.” - Noiz

“wow!” - Natalie

“I am honored to have played against Vegan. Green power to her in the finals. You chomped like a champ, VeganDollhouse” - Lepozza

“I have my coin on Vegan” - Triplebud

Now, going into the chompianship, Rocka has some words of encouragement for the finalists.

“IT’S FINALLY HERE! The moment you’ve been waiting for, the ultimate finale to the Ludo Championship! Contestants from all over the world have been competing in tense but thrilling matches. Some favorites were annihilated early in the tournament. Some underdogs made it further than expected. AND NOW! Your final match up is: VeganDollhouse vs Chicoe.”

CHOMPIANSHIP FINAL SCORE: VEGANDOLLHOUSE 4 x  CHICOE 3

VeganDollhouse was ecstatic with her win, and even more excited to receive all her amazing prizes, which included 300 bopcoin from Aubrey, a taco bell gift card from Rocka, and her very own teal bear emoji from Matt. Oh, and perhaps the greatest gift of all…she is now the one and only @chompian on discord’s IG+ server.

The younger royal watched in amazement as the ruler of Dreamlight worked at the sewing station, while also occasionally looking at all the designs all over the boutique. She had never seen clothes being made or designed before this point, so seeing the other girl doing this was an interesting experience. Was this how all the clothes in the universe get made?

To be fair though, being a princess meant you never got to see how a lot of things are made; you're mostly just told to wait elsewhere while others work on whatever it may be that's being made.

Kloi then looked up from some pieces of fabric when Maelie had offered to let her try designing something. The younger girl liked the idea; it wasn't every day that she got to design and make clothes! Come to think of it though, she never got to design clothes anyways.

"Okay, sure!" She answered excitedly, putting her wand down on one of the tables so it would not be in the way.
