Garage Sale
Well, when the Fentons decided to have a garage sale Danny didn't expect many to be interested. His parents were looking for a way to get money quickly to build more stuff, and he jokingly suggested they could sell some inventions, they took it seriously (Jazz made sure to remove all the lethal inventions, she tried with the ones that might be risky but then they wouldn't sell anything).
Danny knew his parents were strange yes, but he wasn't sure that justified millionaires in his backyard. Millionaires, he'd like to clarify, had never set foot in Amity Park before. He raised an eyebrow at the sight of Bruce Wayne and his sons checking out the appliances. None of them seemed to be interested in the "ghosts" but they hadn't backed down from taking some things either.
So yes, Danny was suspicious. Of course he had made sure the inventions in the sale were safe (although unlike Jazz, he simply decided to make them safe, a few modifications here and there), but the fact that they looked genuinely interested made him uneasy.
Were the Waynes interested in hunting ghosts?
He decided to try something, he crossed eyes with one of them and let his green eyes show before looking away, the boy looked alarmed. He approached him and asked, but Danny feigned ignorance, commenting that all the inventions were green and maybe he had been confused by the reflection (to be fair, most of his parents' inventions were green because of the ecto).
For his part, Bruce had received an alert from Justice League Dark, it seemed they had detected a strange energy, similar to magic, so the bats set out to investigate. They didn't expect to find a garage sale in a house in the middle of nowhere (Amity Park wasn't even marked on the fucking map). Nor did they expect advanced technology or mad scientists.
Bruce decided to pretend he had stumbled into town as "Brucie Wayne" and buy a few things. He shuddered to see that many inventions worked with Lazarus water. Jason, who had strangely agreed to come along, was also upset about the son of the scientists.
Bruce questioned whether he had found a family of villains in the making.

Woke up this morning to realizing the parallels between Bruce and Jason in Gotham Knights, specifically their deaths.
So, aside from the obvious death and resurrection via a Lazarus Pit and involving Talia, there's another thing.
Now, I don't know the specifics of Jason's death in Gotham Knights, just that the Joker killed him and Talia revived him, but I'm going on the assumption that it's similar to the comics. Jason went to Ethiopia to find his mom who betrayed him to the Joker and was brutally beaten before being blown up in a warehouse.
But think about it, Bruce was moments too late to rescue him, arriving to find a destroyed building still on fire and having to sift through the rubble to find the corpse of his son.
Ya know, that sounds familer...
Jason (and the others) arrive moments too late to rescue him, finding their home destroyed and still on fire, sifting through the rubble to find the corpse of their father.
And it just makes me think, did Jason ever think that this might be how Bruce felt after he died? Was Bruce this angry and sad too? How did he carry on?
The more I play and think about this game the more I realize how much of a masterpiece it is.

So potentially hot take....
Jason Todd doesn't need to or should be that much a pretty boy. Not saying he should be super ugly or something but I am a firm believer of the rough and really just average appearance Jason agenda.
I know we all love how Dexter Soy draws him but let Jason be just a lil ugly a lil beat up yknow?
This post is all in silly goofy fun pls don't get mad 🫣

What if after jason was submerged in the Pit it caused amnesia instead of madness? Like maybe he could only remember certain aspects of his life with certain triggers? And certain things had a familiarity or a certain emotion tied to them ?
I think this is what happened in Gotham Knights, actually!
We don’t know much about what happened to Jason there other than that he was tortured by Joker and then submerged in the Pit, but from audio logs and information on the Pit we find throughout the game it’s strongly suggested that he lost most of his memories. And that the Pit also majorly screwed with his moral compass.
Bruce was only able to bring Jason back because, deep down, Jason still had this inherent need to do good, and thus stuck to only killing bad guys. (In very brutal ways).
It’s implied that he didn’t remember Bruce or the batfamily at all at first, and that Talia basically pointed him at Gotham and said: go kill whoever you like. (And also fed him some lies about his past).
Jason had to piece together what his past was like piece by piece, and only started to remember long after Bruce, Tim and Dick managed to find a rapport with him.

This has been on my mind for a long time and i really need to get it out.
Jason is not as bulky as y’all make him out to be.
He’s just not a malnourished little kid anymore.
Ok, I can see people try to argue that even in canon, he’s like really tall and really bulky and yes I’m look at you Gotham War. ಠ_ಠ
Tumblr media
To be honest, I was hysterically laughing for like. Fifteen whole minutes before I calmed down enough to continue reading. For the love of god, Selina looks like a little teenage kid next to him. And she’s got heels on.
And by the way, this is how she looks next to Bruce, which is way more plausible than. Whatever that was.
Tumblr media
Never mind, I think they drew all the males ridiculously big in this comic. (Or is Selina just really that smol??? Not that I was under the impression that she was huge or something, but for a woman who used to be one of Batman’s most notorious villains?? Man, idk)
The point is. Yes, Jason shoot up a few inches after the Lazarus pit. And yes, he also gained a few pounds of muscle, too. But not over-night and not because he was dunked in a war-machine-making bathtub. It’s because he wasn’t malnourished anymore. His stunted growth was resolved in the aftermath of the Lazarus and he wasn’t a skinny short baby from then on, because whatever he ate, his body was healthy enough to directly absorb. Batman annual #25 and the rest of the comics will want you to think differently. But. Just. No.
As dislikable as The Lost Days artwork was, at least they didn’t grow him into a giant over night and I think it’s the only good thing they did in that comic, too, because it would give more depth to his character to say that in the years leading up to UtRH, in addition to everything else, he put in the effort to build his body for the big confrontation. To mislead and shock Bruce as much as he could. But even then, he’s not a tank of a man. He simply has an athletically pleasant body. And, you know, he’s, like, not fifteen anymore?? So it makes sense.
However, it’s not to say that I don’t enjoy reading (whether in comics or fanfics) about the disorientation it brings the batfam to conform the picture of this well-built man before them with their mental image of the scrawny little kid their sweet baby Jason was, in their heads.
If people write Jason’s growth compared to his fifteen self and how it gives the family such a hard time, as maybe a little bulky, sure. I can wrap my head around it and actually enjoy it.
Otherwise, I see Jason as a little taller than Dick and about the same height, if not a little shorter, than Bruce. Actually, Dexter Soy’s representation of Jason felt pretty accurate to me. Which is a shame that the story of RHatO as a whole was such a trash. Maybe for the exception of the Rebirth vol. 1. But I’ll get to that another day.

Has anybody ever done art of Jason Todd with the white strip in his red hair?
I think the following concepts are hilarious:
- He dyes his hair black
- The white stays and just stands out more with the black
- He decides Eff It, I Am This Dramatic and keeps that
- And in turn, he trades the idea for a literal Red Hood for a Red Helmet because he'd like to go out in public without his vigilante identity being clocked, thank you very much (his siblings, once they're on good terms, still give him plenty of shiz for having a helmet instead of a hood)
OR
- He comes back with the white strip, dyes his red hair black, and then decides that he misses the strip and dyes the white back in
OR OR
- He dies a redhead with dyed black hair. The Lazarus Pit was made long before hair dye and has no idea what to do with this and just embeds the chemical in his head so that he becomes a permanent black-haired teenager. This is why even his stalker during his Robin-years doesn't immediately recognize him when he comes back to beat him to a pulp.

I love how present Damian is in all of the crisis/events in dc! Like this man is not just Batman's sidekick and it shows I mean of course he won't have the same plot importance as dc trinity or whatever but this guy is shockingly relevant in almost every event (at least in the new52)
1. Dark Knights Metal
The teen titans go to the challengers mountain in Gotham and Damian somehow fucks off from his team (cannon fodder tbh) and ends up inside. There, he meets Green Arrow, Harley, Killer Croc and Nightwing and they fight their way into the (almost?) center. Damian kills dark robin and only through this do the good guys gain the knowledge that enemies can be killed by Nth metal which leads to their eventual victory. (Gotham Resistance)
2. Shadow War
This event kind of centers around Ra's Al Ghul, Talia Al Ghul and Slade after the Robin (2021) so it makes sense why Damian is a major character in it, basically Batman and Robin just kinda hop around trying to stop Talia and Slade from murdering each other. Anyway Damian has a humongous part in the conclusion where he manages to defeat the bad guy himself and Mary Sues his mother into not killing the guy who murdered Ra's. Also this event is kinda goofy where it ends in sunshine and rainbows (Slade is still alive and sets up Dark Crisis) (Ra's comes back as a ghost).
3. Dark Crisis
Dark Crisis gives Damian his little one shot where they portray him as both 12 years old and 34 years old. Anywho, Damian quickly says 'fuck you' to both Jon and Nightwing and goes on his own adventure where his team frees Justice Incarnate (which is the JL of the multiverse) and somehow unlock Dr Light's powers which she uses to stabilise the multiverse??? And don't let the team accomplishments fool you because Damian hacks into a cosmic tuning fork in an ape dimension to find the source of the Darkness??? (Please read Dark Crisis: The Dark Army, it is so good!!)
4. Lazarus Planet
Even the name of this event screams Damian... This event also starts off in Robin (2021) and is the biggest crossover Damian is at the center of. He starts off as a main antagonist where it's mostly a batfam event. Then, at the climax of the event, Damian is converted back to the hero's side when it becomes an international event. He's basically the main strategist and leader in fighting the god, King Fire Bull. There are a bunch of one-shots where heroes are struggling with new or a lack of powers which is why I say it's Damian's first big crossover event, additionally the entire batfam kind of revolves around him, being literally at his beck and call. The ending is also super sweet where Damian rallies the people of Gotham to revive Batman but he also kind of decided to kill Batman in the first place so that's not so sweet. I think this event, though not extremely well written, gives us a taste of what Damian would be like leading the JL (idk if it was plot convenience but everyone just agreed to following orders from a 15 year old) alongside Nightwing and Jon.
5. Night Terrors
In this Damian is revealed to have control over his dreams (which is crazy btw) and he goes to some monk to learn how to resist sleep? Anyway, while the other heroes are snoozing, Damian gets to team up with Deadman, Sandman and his father's unconscious body. It's the classic superhero story where he swoops in to rescue the two and they get the nightmare stone or something. Truthfully, I'm not too sure why they chose Damian specifically to play this role because I'm pretty sure any other hero would have been an okay substitute but I will never complain about Damian content.
This is just off the top of my head and I'm aware Beast World did happen but that event definitely needs its own post because I just absolutely adore it. Anyway, writers have been pushing for Damian to become a major character in DC and I really really hope he gets to be beside Nightwing and Jon when they inevitably (DC will never let them) take over.

Gotham City Spirit
So in DC it's canon that some cities have living spirits. Manifestations of the cities themselves. And Gotham, I think, should have one. Gotham is cursed. Very cursed. There's also a Lazarus pit below it, a few buried temples to fifth dimensional beings and gods. And Arkham has been built over a site to a portal of hell, and then there was a second one opened there as well.
Tumblr media
Gotham, I think, is a very old spirit. With how cursed the city is, much like the denizens, they're always fighting. Each night they battle curses and rip apart intrusions. One would think they're strength is waning, but they're actually very powerful. The issue is that most of that power is used to defend the city, and to shelter their knights when the sun goes down. Gotham is the grizzled warrior of the cities, starting to form far before the city became Gotham. And while at first it looks human, the longer one looks at its form the less that seems true.
Some of my favorite details:
The pauldron on their shoulder has patterns in the colors of the vigilantes
The outside of the cloak has a faded brick pattern similar to the buildings
There's several eyes, thorns, and feathers emerging from beneath the bandages & wounds, influenced by the Rogues
They did not have a long cloak until Batman took to the streets
Patches of their skin fades to gray like a corpse while the rest is the warmth of a body still living
Yes, those boots are in fact thigh-high (also matches Bats)
I like to think that a city's abilities are influenced by the people living there. For example Gotham may use a blade from olden times, but they may also start spewing spores or fear gas too. It's an odd abomination of modern and ancient, ever changing and adapting to their people.

The fun thing about Joker&Jason's Crowbar Time is that you don't have to make the injuries survivable. You don't have to cut back and worry about whether he could recover and keep going after this. Because he dies anyways.
