Been working on this monster of a blanket! I’m really starting to appreciate the beauty of a monotonous project cause I can focus so much on other things while I knit! Been catching up on shows and podcasts while making this!
The other day I mentioned that shawl that will take me a year. It’s the Botanical Lace Wrap. I bought the yarn last August (2022) during a family trip to webs. I kept looking at the two skeins, trying to decide on a pattern. I cast on early December 2022 and worked on it a bunch. It slowly went from a long rectangle, to a square, to a tall rectangle. I realized I was binging and then burning out on it.
I took a break to do some other time sensitive projects, and went back to it with more determination. I finally realized that I couldn’t keep doing a bunch of rows and then not touching it for a week or two. When I finished the first skein I saw some hope - and did some math on how long it would take me to finish it at a slow pace.I went on the two rows a day plan. I do a front and back row (it has pattern on both sides, so no break) and then I usually put it away. Every once in a while I’ll do 4 or 6 rows, but I also have a second knitting project that I’m excited about, so it’s usually only 2 rows. I manages to do the previous shawl (pebble beach) while still making progress on the botanical lace wrap. I have another project finished and drying, and another about a third done, while still making progress on this wrap. I should have it done sometime late November or early December.
I am a huge fan of this method. Hmmm… Chipping away at something, nibbled to death by ducks, slow and steady? What do you call it?
Enjoy a little knitting machine ASMR from my practice session the other night. I find the sounds so soothing and love to knit to wind down from the day.
I am not happy with it looks like a mess of yarn... but i like the light feel of the fabric (wait is it fabric what would you call it) so i am gonna continue
I got inspired by my last scarf and took apart an old scarf i made but never wore. I was like its gonna look awesome.
Similair stitch used this one was easier in my head.
This variant of the wave stitch
This was the pattern for the other scarf
Edit
Welp i frogged and tested with a smaller needle got me better results
Two current works in progress - a handspun hapshawl and a pair of socks.
The socks were started on January 6, but have been mostly on hold while I started the shawl. The shawl was started on January 15. I am working with my fifth color/skein and have plans for 10, so maybe I’m about half done (one is still fiber and will need to be spun).
After these projects are done I will be done knitting all the spinning from July’s tour de fleece. I have so many older handspun skeins, and the ones from the advent to start next. For years I didn’t knit what I spun, so it’s nice to keep working with my recent handspun!
Wrapping up the scarf I'm working on to put it away for now, cus I need to let my hand rest to avoid injury, and it just looks SOOOOO pretty all spiraled up like that..... I love this scarf!!!!!!! I love this yarn!!!!? I wish I knew what it was still!!!! So I could get more!!!!!! It might be lionbrand, I'm not sure!!!!
