#started umbrella academy s3#minor spoilers though… not really#but that one scene where viktor comes out to alison#and goes ‘i always hated mirrors and i thought everyone felt this way’#and alison asks him ‘and what do you see in the mirror now’#and he looks at his reflection and pauses#i knew damn fucking well what he was going to say#but it fucking kicked my ass when he said ‘me’#i had to pause and i cried so much y’all it’s#absolutely incredible how much representation can do for you#being seen and understood and seeing yourself and knowing that others will see too#knowing that elliot was speaking from the heart and not just reciting a character’s lines#knowing that i’ve been there and i’ve had this exact conversation i’ve experienced this exact feeling#knowing what it felt like the first time i also saw ‘me’ in the mirror and how intense and liberating it was#and it’s me and it’s countless other people on that screen in that moment#and it’s not shown to be ridiculed or for shock value or to later be dismissed or as a plot point that causes conflict#being treated as a part of humanity that deserves to be shown and have its story told#i could never have this before outside of explicitly queer-centered media#i wish with all my heart that all people everywhere can one day experience this#we need healthy and positive and casual and authentic representation for all
