kny modern au - characters: hashira

includes: gyomei, tengen, giyuu, sanemi, obanai, kanae, kyojuro, mitsuri, shinobu, muichiro

inspiration was taken from the german school system because that's what i grew up and am most familiar with:

ages 2-6 (flexible, not mandatory): kindergarten

ages 6-10 (grades 1-4): elementary school

ages 10/11-16/17 (grades 5-10): "secondary school", the diploma qualifies you for an education outside of university (craft sector, social sector etc)

ages 16/17-18/19 (grades 11-12): "upper school", the diploma qualifies you for university

Himejima Gyomei (27, theology major)

grew up in a buddhist orphanage after his parents gave him up because they were ableist idiots who didn't want to raise a blind child

had a very happy childhood, has never been adopted and isn't upset about it in the slightest

went on a spiritual journey for five years after school and wrote a bestseller book about it

started going to university at age 23, helps out at the orphanage whenever he can

has a seeing-eye dog named Curry (a four year old black labrador and the only being on earth he would kill for, he got her when he returned from his journey)

can afford his own flat and lives right next to the orphanage with Curry

advocate for a more inclusive university life and very active in groups fighting for disability rights, both on and off campus

Uzui Tengen (23, music major)

was somewhat of a public figure from a very young age because the Uzui clan is one the richest, most powerful families in the country and everyone in town knows who they are

always hated his parents and moved out at 18, got a small fortune (that's rich people slang for a ton of money, source: trust me) from a cool uncle and used it to open a night club which is very popular with the locals

has no contact to his siblings (even tho he'd like to) and avoids all of his dad's properties like the plague

started going to university at age 20 because he wanted to do something with his passion

plays a bunch of instruments (piano, harp, guitar, violin, shamizen, koto and like ten different types of flute)

lives with his girlfriends in an almost-a-mansion and throws the best partys anyone has ever been to

Tomioka Giyuu (21, philosophy major)

his parents died when he was three years old and him and his sister went through foster care until she came off age and became his legal guardian, they're super close

has been studying several martial arts at Urokodaki's dojo since he was in elementary school

picked philosophy as a major because he had no idea what else to do but it's actually fun??

he mostly just sits in the back and draws stick figures but once a week he'll say something that makes everyone rethink their entire life (no one really understands what's happening inside his head but his professors are convinced he's a genius)

teaches little kids in the dojo because Urokodaki thinks it'd be good for him, he's slowly warming up to it

the type of peanut allergy where his throat closes up at the sight of them, when they were in fifth grade Sanemi almost killed him because he didn't know about it and it delayed their friendship by roughly two years

Shinazugawa Sanemi (21, physics major)

abusive pos dad got stabbed when he was ten, helped his mom raise his younger siblings and is super close with all of them

moved out at 20 when his mom encouraged him to spend more time at university, roommates with Obanai, Giyuu and Sabito

colorblind from birth and dysgraphic when it comes to handwriting, uses recording devices and laptops in class

used to get into a lot of fights in school and still works on not doing that™, most people think he's scary and a delinquent (and also a murderer because it's kinda sus that none of the family members showed up at their dad's funeral)

biker, the motorcycle has wind art on it and he mostly uses it to pick up the tons of children that somehow snuck into his friend circle and take Kanae on drives, loves bringing his guitar to play her something in the moonlight

suffered through school for the most part, a new teacher (Kagaya) in tenth grade inspired him to finish "upper school" and study physics

loves Gyomei's dog like a daughter

Kocho Kanae (21, biology major)

lives with her family and has no plans of moving out until she finishes university, helps a ton in the household

the best big sister ever, drives all of her sisters and their friends around and picks them up at 3am when they're stranded somewhere (also doesn't pretend to hate it, unlike certain other older siblings with their own vehicles)

has always been into gardening and is really getting into permaculture, puts plants wherever she can and loves flowers

most of her cooking ingredients are from her own garden, vegetarian (everything she cooks or bakes will be the best thing you ever ate)

has the voice of an angel, Sumi, Kiyo and Naho refuse to go to bed without her singing them a lullaby

christmas is her favorite time of the year, she goes all out with planning the festivities and getting everyone gifts and needs three whole days to recharge afterwards

has to wear a biteguard when she's stressed because she'll start clenching her teeth in her sleep and works really hard to keep it a secret from everyone

Iguro Obanai (21, philosophy major)

somewhat of a local legend, not by his own doing but by people just making shit up about him

grew up in a cult of which all the members were killed in a fire with him being the only survivor and a huge news story all across the country at age 12

moved to another city as soon as he was old enough to start anew but the rumors follow him everywhere (and it doesn't help that he talks to his snake)

mostly annoyed by the rumors but also likes to use them to scare people of who are being super pushy or harassing his friends (that's the first time in his life he found friends, he can and will commit atrocious crimes on their behalf)

originally enrolled in zoology, then switched majors when the professors wanted to use Kaburamaru as a test subject

spends his time in philosophy class taking a stance against whatever Giyuu says and has an entire folder filled with essays criticizing his statements

always carries headphones with him, listens to lofi because he likes it, mcr because he feels it in his soul and doom metal solely to fuck with tengen ("Screaming is not music!")

Rengoku Kyojuro (20, history major)

still lives at home with his dad and brother because he didn't want to leave Senjuro behind, spends most of his time out of the house tho and is looking for a flat right now

works parttime at a restaurant that's called Umainia and his friends have yet to figure out whether he says "Umai" all the time because he likes his food or to advertise his work place

slightly hearing impaired, has hearing aids prescribed that he just forgets to put in at all times

doesn't have a driver's license, goes by bike everywhere no matter the weather

gets close to people easily, is well beloved amongst Senjuro's friends and also makes an effort to get to know them so he can be sure Senjuro's in good hands

regularly forgets people's names but never their birthdays

collects old books and learned a bunch of old languages just to be able to read them

Kanroji Mitsuri (19, art major)

still lives at home because she wants to stay with her family and help take care of her siblings, also claims that she had invested too much time in her room to just leave it behind (her room looks like every cool fluffy fairy core room you have ever seen on pinterest, it's the coziest place on earth)

if there's a sanrio themed version of stuff she needs, she's getting it, no questions asked.

slightly allergic to dogs, she doesn't care though and cuddles with Curry all the time, she calls it confrontation therapy (it works)

animal lover in general, she even built a little terrarium in her room so Kaburamaru has a comfy spot for his naps when Obanai stays over

has kept every drawing she ever made and sometimes looks through them for inspiration, also likes to track her progress that way

there's a coffee shop across the street from her house where she has been customer of the month every month consistently for four years as well as an honorary mention ever since she was six

Kocho Shinobu (18, student)

in her last year of school and likely about to graduate with a perfect score

founder and president of the first aid club, also head of the student council and an active member on every committee the school has to offer

recently got her driver's license but keeps it a secret so she doesn't have to play chauffeur for her sisters

effectively avoids getting asked out for dates by being very scary™ (and taking jiu jitsu classes since elementary school), she's also your go to person when creepy weirdos won't leave you alone

loves cooking with her sisters and often shares her own recipes with Kanao, she also has her own little corner in Kanae's garden where she plants stuff that she uses to make her own medicine

has a lot on her plate with school and her clubs and some volunteer stuff she does here and there, so she goes to the local animal shelter once a week to cuddle and play with the cats and dogs there, it's her little safe zone to unwind and she doesn't tell anyone about it

the biggest fan of psychological thrillers you will ever meet

Tokito Muichiro (14, student)

in eighth grade and no one knows how he did it but everyone suspects that his brother took at least some of his exams in his place

he's not bad at school per se but he just can't memorize stuff, you're lucky if he knows your name after sitting next to each other for six months

is a member of the cooking club tho and absolutely thriving there, he never goes by recipe and creates the most delicious things but he won't tell anyone his secret ingredients because he can't remember them either

absolutely loves visiting his friends' houses, he's so happy seeing how their rooms reflect them

followed Yuichiro everywhere all throughout elementary school, then made his first friend in fifth grade (Tanjiro of course) and has been getting more and more independent ever since

constantly misses bus stops or takes trains in the wrong direction and is always late because of it, however he has also acquired an extensive knowledge of the town and can give you directions to pretty much everywhere

tries his very best to remember his friends' birthdays but forgets his own every year because it just kinda slips his mind that he has the same birthday as Yuichiro

plot/relationship wishlist below!! i’ll add to this periodically, but this is what i have for now ( ´ ω ` ) pls consider this a plotting call for any of the listed plotlines -- feel free to tap the heart if you’re wanting to write one of these!

general plots

zombie au, i beg!! i’d love to write something that happens at the beginning of the outbreak ( train to busan and all of us are dead vibes ), but that’s not set in stone since i know everyone isn’t big on action scenes!

mentor-mentee/sibling/parent-child relationships for any of my babies uvu i love the positive influence one muse can have on the other and watching them grow together!

isekai au : ))))

okay but crossovers in general would be really rad

reincarnation au!! doesn’t necessarily have to be romantic bc a reunion between two best friends will still have me clutching my heart :’ )) but if we did go in a romantic direction, i feel like it’d be really funny if the two muses originally hated each other, and only one of them remembers this : ) so the one who doesn’t remember is able to treat them like a regular person who doesn’t know them at all and oh?? they don’t absolutely suck and maybe they’re actually great??? i dunno if i’m explaining that well but it’s got potential in my head!!

i’m currently thinking about that training camp where nekoma, karasuno, and fukurodani all came together, so naturally i’m thinking about how makiko would have been walking around with big eyes that say “ I HAVE QUESTIONS AND I REALLY WANNA PLAY TOO ” bc all these really cool players are in one place!!! but catch her hesitating bc volleyball is still a secret passion near and dear to her heart and sharing it is scary ;; so maybe somebody catches on since she’s got a bad poker face and talks her into practicing a bit, too?

in general, gimme all the plots and threads that manage to get makiko onto the court!! catch her practicing at the community center, or messing around after the boys finish practice, or just confront her period!

gimme timeskip stuff too!! i wanna write professional volleyball player ( or even college student ) makiko bc lately, that how i imagine her most often

chiyo

pls let me write mangaka chiyo being a menace to her agent bc she waits till the last second for almost every deadline :’ )

more interactions with karasuno players!! bc ma’am is the sports columnist and i haven’t written enough of her actually doing that

also give me more of someone meeting chiyo and being able to read her relatively well, and she’s very unsettled and maybe a little standoffish/avoidant bc of it! she’s way too comfy with being able to fool people and i’d just love for someone to take a sledgehammer to her shell

awkward exes to friends ( back to lovers if you so choose ) bc chiyo has an ex in her canon who i forget about all the time but should definitely be acknowledged and written!

lemme write chiyo’s kny and jjk verses!!! i love the thought of her in these two and would love to develop those verses more!!

tsugumi

ngl i’ve been thinking a lot about what if she did follow in geto’s footsteps when she was still in high school. i think it’s something i’d wanna definitely discuss a good lil bit bc i feel like she would have needed to witness the same kind of gross situation/a similar situation, to be pushed over the edge. so depending on who i write this with and whether your muse is all for her defecting or trying to stop that, we’ll talk about it!

give this dork some friends bc she needs some so she doesn’t crumble from the weight she places on her shoulders or burst from the complaints she keeps in

but also pls get under her skin and force her to actually 100% speak her mind : )

ALSO give her advice on how to handle her clan trying to take advantage of her and basically trying to boss her around bc tsugumi’s this close to flipping her lid at all times with them

in general i just need to develop my kiddo more so!! i’m accepting any and all ideas!!

kaiya

kinda sorta maybe wanna write kaiya before she remembered who she was -- when she was still “ kai ” : ) she still had the potential to be soft and kind, but she was much more distrusting and merciless with humans. i imagine she could be found prowling entertainment districts of major cities, so!! there’s opportunities for slayers and demons to meet my sweet pastel child

pls let kaiya be friends with more slayers and kakushi!! she is too soft to not attempt to befriend everyone she meets :’ ) there are certain details to keep in mind like the fact that not many would know about her connection to the demon slayer corps ( at first, that is ), but i would love to toss her at more people!

hyouka & satsuki

they were saved by a slayer, so i’d love to plot out that relationship with someone! keep in mind that this happened five years ago for them, so the slayer would likely be around satsuki’s age or older, assuming the slayer was at least 14-15 at the time. but i think there’s a lot of potential for character development with this kind of relationship so :’ )) gimme gimme!!

i would like to write more of satsuki bossing stubborn, injured slayers around pls and thank you <3

asdfghjk but really, satsuki is the secret weapon of her kakushi pals bc she doesn’t care about ranks when it comes to making sure someone doesn’t die. oh you’re a pillar?? that’s nice now sit down and let us treat you or i’ll make you : ) which is a little funny bc she likes to be extremely polite, but she just doesn’t have patience for pigheadedness

i’d also like to see more of someone taking care of satsuki instead of it being the other way around bc satsuki does!! so much and she needs some rest ;;;;

slayers who recognize hyouka as the very talkative kakushi they occasionally dealt with and now have to work with all the time?? aw jeez

someone pls treat hyouka like the 16 year old she is!! make her understand she needs to care for her health even if she thinks she’ll be fine!! hold her hand and tell her it’s fine if she does get scared or tired every once in a while!!

NO WAY KNY X NARUTO AU???

MAIN PLOT:

Basically, Kumo successfully kidnaps Hinata, she grows up there in the care of Kanae’s family(who basically see her as their own child). Kumo makes Hinata take on a new name, which is Kocho Shinobu (Hinata does not remember her name or last name well due to being 3 when she was kidnaped). Years pass, and both Kanae and Shinobu become missing nin when they leave Kumo, half because they don’t feel like being a shinobi is the right thing for them, and half other motivations.

They both have a knack for kenjutsu(weapons based fighting) and end up catching wind of the demon slayer corps when they are funnily enough, in the land of fire. At this point Konoha knows that there is an unaccounted for Hyuuga running around the land of fire. Due to them thinking Hinata is dead they don’t realise that oh shit, that’s the missing Hyuua heir.

They end up joining the demon slayer corps when Kanae was 14 and when Shinobu was 13. Events in cannon follow after this (Kanae dying, finding Kanao and Aoi, etc etc). Years pass and Shinobu becomes a Hashira. Throughout the years, Shinobu gets flashbacks of living in the village hidden in the leaves in brief glimpses, including shinobi training and usage of the byakugan. Shinobu trains her byakugan, but chooses not to use it unless absolutely necessary. On the run up to Shinobu’s fight with Douma, Shinobu and the demon slayers that are there in cannon (+Tengen and Rengoku maybe still active/ alive hashira due to Mugen Train and entertainment district turning out differently or being slightly stronger?) team up with a group of shinobi(rest of Konoha 12 + their teachers) that have been sent from Konoha to get rid of Douma. After initial surprise because oh shit, that's the missing Hyuuga heir, they team up to fight against the upper moons (fire jutsu, chakra conductive metals and maybe the rasengan and other jutsu’s like that come in clutch here).

After the battle,the KNY characters that die survive. Hinata Shinobu remembers a ton more memories. The demon slayers present agree to go and see what Konohagakure is like and maybe get questioned in T&I.

AU HEADCANONS:

Tengen Uzui is Jiraya’s grandson or great grandson from a one night stand when Jiraya was younger

The Rengoku are an offshoot of the Uzumaki clan that did not want to be known as shinobi

Uzushio had a close relationship with the demon slayer corps before they were annihilated

the Ubayashiki are distantly related to the Hyuuga

One of Sanemi and Genya’s parents was a Hatake(maybe Sakumo’s cousin???)

The Kamado were a reasonably wealthy merchant clan that used to be samurai before their downfall which was lack of offspring, illness and a demon attack. The Harunos knew of them and had trade deals with them

The Tsugikuni were a famous samurai clan once employed by the fire daimyo’s court

The Kages know of the demon slayer organisation and categorise them as a missing nin group, but they never put them in the bingo book due to the fact that it would cause widespread panic they’ve also had testimonials that the demon slayer corps are in fact legitimate due to shinobi getting caught up in demon hunter vs demon battles

All missions where shinobi run into demon slayer vs demon battles are immediately changed to S Rank(top secret), and kept in a cabinet only the current Hokage can access

Shinobi have been turned into demons before, and depending on how powerful they are their blood demon art is normally nearly at a lower moon rank in sheer power. They have get killed as fast as possible to stop massive civilian casualties

if a person with a dojutsu (byakugan/sharingan/rinnegan etc) trains to use a breathing technique, their dojutsu eyes appear darker

Utau × Demon Slayer au notes

main characters are teto and tei, it's a teito fic and takes place before the main line of demon slayer with little to no interactions of the kny cast and more allusions and references

-Kasane Teto- protag of the story. She did not have a voice until she turned 13 and came from "a foreign country" to japan and lived as a cleaner in a bakery. She heard a strange noise one night and was partially turned into a chimera demon*, but gained her voice. Her appearance scared the shop owners and townsfolk though, so she fled. Teto became a slayer and found that she aged half as fast as regular humans, and worked alone taking odd jobs.

-Sukone Tei- Tei was a maiko and kunoichi with a vengeance. While she was still human, she fell in love with a boy named Len, who was already betrothed to the Hatsune clan. After she became a demon, it was rumored that she killed his family and the girl he was married to. Unsatisfied, she continued to train as a maiko and contract kunoichi by night (yes its extra. That's why it's her backstory.) She was well over her long-dead of old age crush hanging when she met teto, who had been hired by a singer of the hatsune clan to protect her as she felt she was being watched. Tei was very unpredictable and still killed humans to live, but teto bound some of her powers and invited her as a companion.

-Hatsune Miku- The hatsune clan was known for its craftsmanship in musical instruments and talented singers, but had a grudge against a demon. Miku was sent to apprentice playing the shamisen and singing away from her town for her safety, into Tei's old apprenticeship. She has pale green hair from her affinity for leeks. It was said that her voice could even stop demons**, but she felt unsafe and hired a wandering Teto to take out the suspected demons.

-Kagamine Rin and Len- Len was said to be the spitting image of his several great grandfathers, lone survivor of a demon attack. Rin was his cousin, and their antics involved often switching places with each other due to their almost identical faces. Since Tei really cant tell them apart, she protects them both. Theyre mostly side characters lol

Momo and Uta are children from workers of the same farm and have automaton legs, as a disease outbreak at the farm ruined their muscles when they were young and left Uta's voice weak, though they both love singing. However, their impoverished families sent them to work as maids at the mysterious butterfly estate for a better life. Uta received training as a sniper while Momo learned to sing in demon-halting breath.

-Rook and Yokune Ruko- A demon-slaying duo. Ruko was rumored to be a demon, as not only were their eyes were different colors, but they had "two voices" and study demon-halting under the sound hashira. Rook is an apprentice of the slayers "guard dogs" and has a fighting style similar to that of a wild dog, but is very loyal to ruko. He has an adopted little sister named Miko who was raised by wolves until she was 2.

-Sekka Yufu and Namine Ritsu- referred to as the mountain demons. Ritsu is a largely harmless demon who lives at the foot of the mountain and goes to drink with humans every now and then. He was turned when he was 6, but likes to shapeshift to be a young woman. He only kills people who dont like him or point out that his fake double d cups are actually bombs. Yufu is rumored to lure travelers into the snow-capped mountains with her voice into storms and avalanches, but most of the deaths aren't intentional. The two are loosely friends.

*(Yushiro accidentally turned her, but as he was almost completely free from muzans control, she was largely unaffected.)

**In this AU, demon-halting breath exists as a form of singing. It can be naturally inherited or taught.

YOU MISUNDERSTAND. ” the thing is -- sasuke knows grief. he was raised in grief. his birth was a tragedy all unto itself, the disappointing second son. douma is a menace, for sure, but sasuke is hardly afraid of menaces. sasuke’s expression is flat, uncaring -- he’s not scared by the upper second, especially not when sasuke’s faced previous upper moons and won. compared to itachi’s demon art of forcing his opponent through decades of torture in a single second, douma is a piece of cake. ( no one could ever scare sasuke more than itachi, not even muzan. muzan may have caused the massacre of his clan, but it is itachi’s face sasuke sees in his nightmares. )

sasuke smiles: thin lipped, wan. “ i’m not running from anything. i am running towards something much more important than you. ” demon to demon, killing aura to killing aura, sasuke will face douma head on each time.

Long time no post fam! Work and zine artwork has me occupied to the MAX and the only reason I can squeeze this in is cuz we got a deadline extension🤣 the quality for the zine is going through the roof though so I am MUCH excited to share!!

Anywho, the recent season 2 of KNY heavily inspired my artistic soul and I couldn’t resist a anime styled damirae 🥰 I tried my best to stay true to the anime details haha I am chock-full of hc’s on this one, ooooh boi the ideas just flow!

🔽⭐️Storyline⭐️🔽

Damian al Ghul was only a small boy when he found out his esteemed grandfather was an Oni, the “head” of a demon cult that offered hollow promises of eternal life to the fickle minded humans. How could he have known - it was true his grandfather never “aged” and the ritual for eternal life was knowingly not fool-proof. Running away, he endures years of harsh self-imposed training in the mountains. After passing the Final Selection and surviving a fateful battle with his grandfather, one Hashira, the Water Piller by the name Richard, takes him in to train as a tsuguko. Doomed with Richard’s untimely death by the hands of Upper Moon One on the day he becomes the Sand Pillar (his unique breathing form: derived from stone breathing) - Damian swears revenge on the clan of New Upper Moons, no matter what it takes.

Raven joined the Demon Slayer Corps much later than Damian as the Shadow Pillar (her unique breathing form: derived from ?) She was a special recruit by Oyakata-sama, which to Damian sounded like a lame excuse, as she does not seem to have gone through the Selection like everyone else. As if that wasn’t enough, he gets paired with her as a mission duo, much to his and her dismay. It was shameful at first - did Oyakata-sama see him as “lacking” on the solo front? He was the youngest man in history to ever earn the Pillar title for god’s sakes! However, it strikes him (literally) on a very rare solar eclipse - when they get attacked by her father, Upper Moon One.

OK OK, I know I’ve mentioned wanting to see KnY(Kimetsu no Yaiba) AU for the bros before, and for this doodle I wanted to lean on the anime a lil more :] so this is a version more similar to the Anime

but also this is different to what I had planned for the one AU I have in my pocket of the bros where the Shimadas clan hunt/slay demons in Hanamura and maybe go to other regions as well.

The Overwatch organization might come into picture later but for now i dont have that big of an idea except for the story for the Shimada brothers and how Genji became a demon and so on. Which I’d love to either write a fanfic about, make comics/story telling art, or animatic.

i really hope i actually wrote it down somewhere.. back when i was really into the clan au i had an idea for an offshoot where giyuu goes on a escort/guard mission for a high-profile merchant that was passing thru their southern valley & ended up coming home w more shinobi than he left with

something something he was idly chatting with one of the caravan workers & instinctually launched out to catch a lady who was about to break her face on the ground. that lady was suma. cue the grateful waterworks that immediately turns to complaining about why she was running so fast she tripped, very quickly stopped when she noticed how soft the fur on his cloak was and started complimenting him on that before makio eventually showed up and dragged her off. Very Confused Giyuu left in their wake

later on a big buff guy stopped by to talk to him, tengen thanking him for helping one of his wives out that turned into a neat little conversation & an invitation to chat w the whole group sometime when hes free. giyuu ended up making friends with the quartet and found that they were Uzuis who fled their clan because they disliked the harsh training practices & what it meant for their future, so he ended up offering a spot in his clan for them. they accepted and once his mission was over they follow him back to the tomioka clan compound & yadda yadda bam theyre Tomiokas now, new clan ensemble and whatnot

Note

In Kimetsu Gakuen, is there any basis as to why each Hashira teaches their respective class? Like why Giyu is the PE teacher, while Rengoku is the history teacher, and Sanemi is the math teacher.

Rather than linking their respective subjects to skills or passions they show in the series, I think some of it may had been chosen based on what feels applicable, or in the reverse, a role needed to be filled and someone was chosen. Honestly I need to go to bed soon so instead of looking up every Kimetsu Gakuen role, let's see how far my brain cells dedicated to remembering KnY trivia takes me~~ (ﾉ´ω`)ﾉ*: ･ﾟ (Throw things at me if I'm wrong. Soft things, please.)

Rengoku-san: A good! History! Teacher!! Takes!! PASSION!!!!!! And he's a very successful teacher because he's so passionate about!! History!!! Glorious!! Battles! Worth! Reenacting! In canon, when he info dumps at Tanjiro about the origins of different Breaths, this makes me think he does take a keen interest in the Demon Slayer's proud history. With how well the Rengoku-clan retains their ancestors' teachings and writings (Rengoku-san has studied the sword manuals, but does not seem to have read the diary Shinjuro was always mulling over), I think it may have been instilled in him from a young age.

Giyuu: He's not necessarily more physically fit or a better trainer than other Pillar characters, I think this is just playing on a subtle stereotype that gym teachers can be overly harsh and aren't always liked because of that. (Very wide generalization, I don't feel it's that strong of a stereotype.)

Sanemi: Besides there being no reason to think he wouldn't be good at math, I think this stems more from the school setting conflict it creates between him and Genya. Without the tension of Genya's life on the line and Sanemi belittling him to try to make him quit the Corp, you can get the same gut-wrenching tension from an impatient mathy parents or older sibling doing their best to help a kid with math anxiety. It often just makes everyone feel horrible.

Kanae as the biology teacher: The chemistry teacher role was taken by Iguro because he looks good in a lab coat. Kanae's parents were pharmacists so she's got the health-oriented science background. Plus, biology includes botany. Do not know where the use of magic talismans came from, but I am all for it. Shinobu as a student: I keep forgetting how young she is. Let her be a teacher. Let her try to be hiding her age all the time and letting people assume she's older.

Mitsuri: Again, for age reasons, she gets to be a college student. It's funny that in this AU she's Tengen's protege instead of Rengoku's. Tengen: Art? Not music? Okay, sure, fine, Kyogai took that role and I am totally fine with this because I love Kyogai. Tengen works well with something self-expressive. I find his hoodie look hilarious. Himejima: Home room teacher, and... uh... what he anything else??? Anyway, yes, put him in a position to be a primary caretaker for a big group of needy children. Tokito Twins: Shogi champs. Yes. Excellent. Geniuses. Let them be geniuses as something war-inspired. Rock Band Brother Sister Duo Gyutaro & Daki: The modern music scene is full of unsightly stuff they'd have encountered in their upbringing, which makes people in that world seem a little scary if you're looking in from the outside, but there's still a glamorous side to it that people admire Kamado family: carefully tending the natural ingredients, tending the fire, making sure to warm the community with a daily necessity. BREAD. Go ahead, Haganezuka, give him a bread-themed sword. And Nezuko's French Bread spin on the classic shoujo-heroine-who-slept-in-and-goes-to-school-with-bread-in-her-mouth trope? Yes, excellent, love it, you keep it up, girl.

Inosuke, raised by boars, old lady foster mother who pretends everything is fine. Inosuke needs these good calm old-people influences in his life. Really sad that Kotoha and Tanjuro are still dead in an otherwise happy AU. Glad that Hisa seems to enjoy having him around despite all the media attention. It's fun to see so much of Inosuke's wild expressions instead of having them be covered by the boar head.

Zenitsu: I think this role was written for him purely for the sake of writing jokes at his expense. I haven't been following the new/extra Kimetsu Gakuen content because I don't think most of the jokes about him being his worst are funny, but I do find his failures when he's actually trying to do his job quite hilarious. He's like the straight man in a circus. A circus of caffeinated monkeys.

Girls: Flower arranging. Are they all in flower arranging? At least Kanao is. I like the illustration of her arranging a fall display for the harvest moon, but that illustration came out long after she appeared in the Kimetsu Gakuen AU. This therefore does not answer Anon's original question whatsoever. I've taken Anon's initial question and slapped my fingers across the keyboard to run away with it. /I/ am the caffeinated monkey around here.

Ozaki-san plays spots, doesn't she? Good for her. A good healthy hobby for a good alive background character. Good for you, Ozaki. May you never ever ever need to touch a sword in this happy as ever AU. Murata, I'm sorry you're not popular. That must feel just as bad in a school setting as being only okay with a sword must feel in a life-or-death setting. Susa Maru-chan, focus your energy on spots. That is a constructive use of your bent up energy. I'll bet she'd be gotten an ADHD diagnosis when she was little. Yahaba and tofu, right? Ok. I like tofu. Point the way, Yahaba, I shall try your family's tofu. To-fu-to-fu-to-fu-to-fu--IS TOFU GONNA BE ON MY NERD TEST!!!??? OH MY GOODNESS, IT REALLY MIGHT, SUDDENLY I MUST KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YUDOFU AND YUBA, time to make like the walls of an art room and explode my way outta here

✨ Spooky Recs✨

I read a lot of fanfictions... More than I am proud of. I thought I should recommend as I go before I lose sight of their existence among the sea of my favorites.

Since past few days I have been craving for some creepy, unnerving fanfics that will keep me restless and awake at night. I remembered my favorites and wanted to read more of the kind so I looked up, patiently going through each story that sounded compelling. I also revisited old stories for nostalgia's sake.

Of course, rare as they are, in Naruto fandom no less, it's even harder to find a horror and mystery fic that is well written, not dropped under 2 chapters, and really keeps your attention.

Genre: Horror, Mystery, Comedy

I've rated 4 aspects of the work -

Writing – I don't judge writing based solely on the grammar and vocabulary. I also consider how the author expands upon a subject, if they are consistent with the facts, if they are able to keep the attention of the readers regardless of their creative writing skills.

Characters – If the characters are well-developed, in their given character, if OCs have any real significance to the story.

Plot – How gripping is the storyline, if the story sticks to its original plot, the structure of the story, plot holes.

Flow – Mother-of-slow-burn, slow-but-steady, steady, fast, I-am-speed

When the flowers cry : TCOOKIES777 || M || AO3/FFN || SasuSaku || Goth Horror || Post-Canon, set during Blank Period || Ongoing

When one of the greatest medical-nin in the world goes missing in what should have been a simple delivery to the Land of Spring’s Hidden Snow Village, the rest of Team 7 must reunite to find her. But even the most powerful team of shinobi will find themselves challenged in a battle against the supernatural. With Sasuke's return, vengeful ghosts of the past will test him and his love.

My thoughts : One of the best stories I've read in a while, and top tier SS stories. I read this in one sitting. I never listen to music while reading, preferring silence, but for this one, I suggest you do as the author says. Also, keep some tissues and food with you. This story is major in mystery and minor in horror but otherwise full of SS fluff.

Writing: 10/10

Characters: 10/10

Plot: 9/10

Flow: Steady, if a bit confusing (but that's why it's mystery)

Kyuro : silver_shot || T || AO3 || SasuSaku || Mystery || Post-Canon || Complete

“Oh,” says Naruto, “well, its sort of like that. Except in this village, the story has a way more darker ending – it basically goes like this: the girl and the guy plan to run away together. The guy steals a bunch of treasure, and stashes it away. But then, when he goes to get the girl at her village, he kills her and decides to run away with all that money. But then he is killed by the guards of the girls village and now they're both dead and the treasure is hidden away somewhere”. Sasuke stares blankly at the blond, “that story makes no sense”.

My thoughts : I know you must be thinking the same thing as Sasuke – "makes no sense". I did too, but it's a pretty cool short story. It lies on the funny, creepy side that slowly starts to lose its funny touch. SS makes stupid mistakes later on but it could be because they are MCs. The ending is very ambiguous. It's not my favorite mystery but it is something. Enjoyable read but not something I will pick again.

Flow: Fast

Moon stuttering in the sky : xfrinz || T || AO3 || Gen || Mystery || Pre-Shippuden || One-shot

Kakashi is suspicious of many things about Haruno Sakura. Too many things about her don't make sense, with too many incongruous explanations.

My thoughts : Author of this story just summarised Pre-Shippuden in less than 4k words and made some tiny changes to it. Not much though. One of my favorite gen fics yet. Read it if you haven't yet. You'll feel more sad than thrilled tbh. But worth it.

Writing: 10/10

Characters: 10/10

Plot: 10/10

Flow: I-am-Speed

Breath mints : silver_shot || T || AO3 || SasuSaku || Comedy-Mystery || Post-Canon || Ongoing (maybe)

Their home no longer exists with the life it once had – in fact no settlement thrives anymore; they exist only in a snapshot that contradicts time itself. Families within their own homes sleep in a slumber that they cannot wake from. Those that were chatting on the street prior to the event simply drop their heads and remain unresponsive.

My thoughts : I picked it up for Mystery but I stayed for Comedy. But of course that's not to say supernatural elements in this story is not it, but it sure pales in comparison to effortless humor in this story. Lee and Kiba pair is something you don't see often but they get along too well here. Charactisation is on point as well. SS angst! + NS angst (but it's downplayed)

The Curse : sincerelyLen || T || FFN || SasuSaku || Horror || Post-Canon || Ongoing

Team 7 is unexpectedly assigned an S-Ranked Mission involving an unsolved mystery of 10 years. An eerie adventure that will test their teamwork, strengths, and greatest fears. Do you believe in Curses?

My thoughts : My all-time favourite horror Naruto fanfiction. To me, this sets the standard of how mystery and horror elements should be handled. I have never been able to get this story out of my mind even it's been years. Perfect charactisation of Team 7 with Smart-yet-Stupid!Sakura, I-can-fight-aliens-and-reanimated-corpses-but-keep-ghosts-away-from-me!Naruto and I-dont-get-paid-enough-for-this!Sasuke. I especially love OCs here. They kinda reminds me of Pillars from KnY. You must read this story, loosely based on Zombie apocalypse + curse concept.

Flow: Slow-but-Steady

Silent High : Istoria || T || FFN || Gen || Mystery || Post-Canon || Complete

A bit of the Silent Hill series mixed in with Naruto. Trapped in an illusion whose rules are unknown, they struggle to find answers before darkness consumes them.

My thoughts : One of the best mystery fanfictions I've read. I especially loved how this story handled Genjutsu in the best possible way it could without it turning into some cliche, ghost story. Though really, this story has shown what my greatest fear actually is. I will never be able to leave my back open to a wheelchair. This story has simple writing yet it gives you creeps with the twists and turns. A must read one because it is unlike any other in this list.

Flow: Steady

Silence of the Damned : Daystar Clarion || T || FFN || Gen || Psychological Horror, Mystery(?) || Pre-Shippuden || One-Shot

When Naruto wakes up to a dead body in his bathroom, he begins a quick spiral into madness.

My thoughts : Listen to Halsey's Control while reading this. Quite chilling, deals with mental issues and morbid but in a fascinating way. It gives a new meaning to Dark!Naruto, but one that actually makes sense. I never saw the ending coming... I had something else in mind and I was convinced it would be, but nope. Here's a sequel to this One-Shot (Uzumaki's War) which I never picked up.

To the Victor : Letta || T || FFN || NaruSaku || Psychological Horror || Shippuden || One-Shot

Naruto loses the fight and Sakura is a trophy of war.

My thoughts : A very twisted NS, if you squint. It's not horror but it might as well be... it is still a disturbing story to see from the eyes of Sakura. Quite chilling to be in Sakura's shoes. But I love this because it is one shot and I loved the ending.

Under the Skin : BukkakeNoJutsu || T || FFN || Team 8 || Body Horror || Pre-Shippuden || One-Shot

Your actions don't make you a monster. Your reasons do.

My thoughts : There's a reason why Shino is my favourite team 8 member. In my opinion, Shino is also one of the strongest Shinobi of his generation. His clan techniques are just that horrifying. This story is testament to that. He is so terrible.

Flow: Slow-but-steady

Instant Message : Keelah || T || FFN || SasuSaku || Murder mystery || Modern AU || Incomplete

She gave him names to kill, in order not to be killed herself. But having blood on her hands was turning out to be much worse than dying. "…There's still round 2…3…4…" When does this game end? She asked. "Don't you see, Sakura?" He said, "It never does."

My thoughts : I read this story a long time ago and have read this twice. Personally, it has the most interesting concept of all stories in the list. It reminds me of Vocaloid series, "Bookmark of the end". Kind of. To those who are thinking of picking this up, go ahead! It's a great book and has one of the best suspense I've read in Fandom. BUT, it has been stopped in mother-of-all-cliffhangers and Author is MIA for 4 years now. But, all things considered, it remains to be one of the best stories I've read.

Everything ends, eventually. Eight years after the war, Sakura's unhinged and Sasuke's obsessed. The fields are filled with corpses.

My thoughts : I read this story right after "The Curse", my favourite. From what I remember, Sakura and Sasuke are both mentally deranged, in different ways. Lots of death and gore to stomach, so not for weak readers. There's no speak of fluff in this one. Zero, Zilch, Nada. I wouldn't call it your classic 'Horror', but it is very disturbing, so psychological horror is more like it. Don't eat food while reading this one. Did I mention how Sakura is mentally disturbed beyond help in this one? And Sasuke is obsessed. If these suit your tastes, go ahead.

I want to make a JJK witch au...

I’m still deciding how Yuji being Sukuna’s vessel works for the au (is something he’ll be since birth, or will it be closer to canon? Kinda leaning towards the first option), and how the Witch society will differ from canon (I feel like there won’t be masquerade, but instead the public is kept in the dark about the deeper working on the people that protect them from magical threats) and creating a list of fics I want to write for it (I currently have at least four, one for each member of the quartet to kinda explain their situation before going into more general things

I have a deep love for semi-complicated aus (just look at Kny’s DemonSwap and JoJo’s JoJoGard on AO3 to understand) so there will be a lot of lore and changes to make the au make sense and not be a straight rehash of canon (I feel like worrying too much about how much it deviates from canon kills my inspiration a bit and why continuing DemonSwap got really hard while Blue Lock’s Ego’s Extrodinart Egoist was so easy).

There will be manga spoilers below the cut due to me talking about characters who haven’t been introduced in the anime at the time of this post

Okay so Witches in this au are basically humans who have a enough magical concentration in their bodies to use and interact with magic without the reliance on tools like grimoires or runes. So Witches are basically found and trained in how to keep the balance between humans and the magical beasts that also walk the earth. It isn’t always the most glamorous job, but it certainly is the least boring.

And since Witches aren’t that common, they’re often sent to special schools to train them in how to use their own unique types of magic (some of which is passed down through bloodlines). Magic kinda draws upon the mysteries and collective unconscious of the world? So certain magic is weaker than it was in previous generations while there’s also newer, stronger magic centering around recent ideas (I’m not sure I’m explaining it well but like whatever)

Normal humans are often kept in the dark about the true depths of magic and its cost “for their own good” but like Witch big-wigs are still hella corrupt so....

And like the name “Warlock” is given to any Witch who breaks their oath to uphold the natural order for their own gain

Also for now the witch ranking system now goes:

Novice (Grade 4)

Competent (Grade 3)

Adept (Semi-Grade 2)

Advanced (Grade 2)

Expert (Grade 1)

Elite (Grade 1)

Great (Special Grade)

So a full Witch’s title would be “The (Rank) Witch of (Name of Magic)” or “The (Rank) (Name of Magic) Witch”

I might actually simplify the ranking system to Novice-Adept-Elite-Great in the future but idk

I also gave most of the cast specializations! I have some plot details but I don’t want to share those rn

Currently I have:

Yuji- Sukuna’s Vessel (later The Memory Witch)

Megumi- The Shadow Witch (keeps a lot of familiars)

Nobara- The Straw Doll Witch (kept it simple)

Junpei- The Jellyfish Witch (Newest to everything)

Sukuna- The Malevolent Witch (Couldn’t think of a better name since currently a lot about him is unknown)

Maki- The “False” Witch (given to her by the Zen’in family bc they’re still kinda assholes. Unique in the sense that she has no capability for using magic, not even a grimoire can really help her that much)

Inumaki- The Intoner Witch (I kinda liked it more than “The Speech Witch” and “The Siren Witch” didn’t make much sense)

Panda- Panda (Technically he’s a familiar learning magic so yeah...Panda Witch lol)

Yuta- The Love Witch (It’ll probably change later but I like how it kinda connects to what motivates him the most)

Gojo- The Inifinity Witch (I might make him be the one to either release Sukuna or to discover that Yuji is the current vessel and make Megumi approach him)

Getou- The Devouring Witch (He doesn’t go the same route of canon, though he does lose a bet that cost him his body)

Shoko- The Healing Witch

Nanami- The 7:3 Witch (the Ratio Witch sounded weird)

Ijichi- The Curtain Witch

Yaga- The Doll Witch (Corpse Witch sounded too morbid)

Ino- The Beast Witch

Gakuganji- The Music Witch (or maybe just simply calling him “The Bard” willl be better...🤔)

Arata- The Soothing Witch (doesn’t accurately represent his technique but it’s a work in progress)

(Also I want him to return by Getwo using Getou to “devour” his death bc I think that sounds cool. Also so he can mentor Maki in the ways of Witch Hunting. With Tsukumo getting involved soon afterward)

The curses will instead be magical beast, and cursed humans are still hybrids? Also the Death Paintings will be Yuji’s brothers bc I said so

notes for the totally-not-canon canon of my KnY au

Some headcanons that I inserted in my giyushino pre-canon-personalities au because I played myself and started writing it before I finished the manga lmao

(In case I gotta reiterate: none of the below is canon. None. They only are in my au.)

The Kochō family deals in demon slaying, so it’s a family legacy thing for Shinobu and Kanae to continue it (even though Shinobu hates it and Kanae is reluctant about it). Their line has not been around for nearly as long as the Ubuyashiki clan or the Rengoku clan, but they are still nonetheless pretty old and the name of Kochō has some prestige and respect in the demon slaying world. The Kochō clan is an off-shoot branch of the original Water Pillar’s family, but it has died out over the years and so the Kochō is all that’s left of the bloodline. Records say that the first head of Kochō was the sister of a previous Water Pillar who could not master the Breath of Water, so she created the Breath of Flower for herself and had passed it down to her children after marriage. (The Breath of Flower is, thus, a proverbial “heirloom” and tradition of the Kochō clan, hence Shinobu’s self-hatred that she was unable to master it.)

Because they are both from old clans who have waged war against demons, Kyōjurō is actually childhood friends with Kanae and Shinobu. In a timeline where Kanae dies, Shinobu would have a fallout with Kyōjurō and they would only ever speak to each other professionally once she becomes the Insect Pillar, polite but detached in a way where neither approve of the other’s method of coping, but letting each other do as they please because they don’t know how to help themselves, much less each other. However, since Kanae lives in airheadverse, the disapproval is very much one-sided here, in which Shinobu doesn’t think it’s healthy for him to hide behind his mask of smiles even when he’s at his lowest. (She won’t have much to say about it if she starts adopting Kanae’s mannerisms, and he can’t be a hypocrite and rebuke her for doing the same as he, hence the aforementioned if-Kanae-dies fallout.)

Although the succession line of the original Water Pillar is now gone, they left behind many students, who would go on to have their own disciples. The original Water Pillar was most effective amongst their comrades in mentoring and gathering a strong fellowship of apprentices, so much that the Breath of Water became the most commonly used breath style by the Taishō era. Giyū, for example, was found as a child by a former Water Pillar, who was himself taught by Urokodaki’s senior disciple. There’s a strong connection and support system between the Breath of Water practitioners, though none so strong as the one between Urokodaki’s own disciples, Sabito, Makomo and Giyū.

The Wisteria Houses are canonically stated to be set up by one family. In airheadverse, Wisteria Houses were indeed started by one fairly wealthy clan that were saved and indebted to demon slayers at some point in time, but eventually became commonplace throughout Japan due to other families that were also saved from demons. Wisteria Houses are one of the main places where survivors of demon attacks, who have nothing to return to, go, firstly because it provides a sanctuary and secondly to be useful to the demon slayers’ cause.

Most kakushi who did not directly receive their training at the Kochō’s estate also originated from Wisteria Houses, if they want to play a more proactive role without personally fighting the demons.
