I’m making a new drawing for an extra phone wallpaper for all the ks backers!! but I got a little distracted today trying out old pages as wallpapers :’)
Hello, I’m Sarah! I’m a cartoonist, illustrator, and vis-dev artist from Alaska. I’m currently in LA working in tv animation, and drawing the last chapter of my sapphic, fairytale-inspired webcomic Kochab!
I make art inspired by folklore, the otherworldly and odd within nature and everyday life, and fantasy/slice-of-life stories.
Nice to meet you, Sarah! She has shared some of their work below for you all. Check them out!
For more of Sarah’s work, be sure to check out their Tumblr, @erysium.
Snipping this bit of today’s Kochab because I do not want to repeat Big Spoilers but I am also once again in love with the way Kyra’s outfit blends so seamlessly into its environment.
Amidst my anxiety over the future of RWBY, I found a bright light most serendipitously. Kochab is ineffably beautiful in both story and art. But enough with the fancy words. This comic has really made me happy through its stunning world-building and these two wonderful characters. Though I finished this story, Sonya and Kye are two characters that I will not soon forget.
and to celebrate webcomic day, i drew outfits for a bunch of characters from comics i have read and enjoyed! (more to come later)
but for now, here’s Ludovica from Tiger, Tiger, Kyra from Kochab, George from Thank You for Viewing and Prill from Witchy!
Ludovica Tiger, Tiger (by @pepurika https://tigertigercomic.com) for ludovica, since she's been the highest of femmes and is now more butch, i wanted to give her somethingin the middle. glamourous sea captian look. the map was referenced from the first few pages of the comic!
Kyra Kochab (by @erysium https://kochab-comic.com) for kyra, i had to keep the iconic scarf obvi, the patterning is inspired from stuff in comic related to kyra, but the blue/gold/brown part was from her beloved sonya! i wanted to have sonya's influence on her to be apparent
George Thank You for Viewing (by @bubblu https://tapas.io/series/Thank-you-for-viewing/info) george's looks are ALWAYS iconic. so i wanted her to be dressed up but still have that george feel. which included giant boots. these were referenced directly from a bubblu george outfit, i loved the shape so much
Prill Witchy (by @witchycomic https://witchycomic.com) i wanted prill to look uptight (bc.. she is) but to still have fun with colors and patterns bc she still is very much unapologetically and unflinchingly her own person. but gentle colors bc she is sensitive. on the inside. a lot of patterning was referenced from magic circles in comic cause. prill like magic. i think.
