Asami looked absolutely irresistible. She always did, of course, but tonight especially so. At some point in the evening, the hair framing her face had fallen out of its careful updo (probably from all the dancing) and stuck to her forehead, which glistened with sweat. Her makeup had smudged and faded, letting the pretty pink flush of her skin shine through. As the night progressed, her body language metamorphosed from her usual prim and refined posture to something liquid and easy. On Asami, who so rarely let herself relax, it was a welcome sight.

“You’re staring,” Asami half-shouted over the joyful noise of the jazz band and the remaining partygoers, still going strong late into the night. Her eyes sparkled with flattery and Korra didn’t have it in herself to protest. She simply reached for Asami’s waist to pull her close, though it was Asami who took Korra’s face in her hands to bring her into the kiss.

The meeting of their mouths was sloppy, their perfect familiarity with each other impeded by the haze of free-flowing liquor from the open bar. Asami’s tongue slipped past her lips and she tasted sweet and acidic, like plum wine. Her body was warm and solid against Korra’s, the salt-smell of her skin and the dregs of jasmine perfume overwhelming her senses. The rest of the revelry faded away around them, leaving no room for stimulus or thought beyond their embrace. After all, Asami herself was the most intoxicating thing here.
