OVERRATED and UNDERRATED are functionally meaningless as terms. why should how many people like a thing be in any way relative to that thing’s quality? people who throw around underrated and overrated like they are hot takes / real opinions are people who are too cowardly to actually go out on a limb and own their opinions. 

I LIKE THIS THING! I shout to the rooftops. I LIKE IT! it doesn’t matter if other people like it. or if crowds of people like it. or if it made a lot of money. or if no one knows about it. I LIKE IT! I might even THINK IT’S GOOD! (though liking something and thinking its good don’t /have/ to go hand in hand). Other people’s opinions don’t bother me and the widespread cynicism can’t get to me! I LIKE IT! it makes me FEEL GOOD! no matter how many people agree with me that is still my opinion at this point in time! and if someone else says that thing is bad, I am adult enough to not let that hurt my feelings!
