Ever since I was a child, people said my family was cursed. Mom tried to protect us with God. Dad tried to protect us with wrestling. He said if we were the toughest, the strongest, nothing could ever hurt us.
I believed him. We all did.
(Bonus: Lance Von Erich)

Yup, go ahead and add Lance von Erich to my list of pro wrestling crushes. Oh just admit it -- if you followed Texas Rasslin on ESPN during the 80's, you know you got off on him too, even after knowing that he was not actually related to the von Erichs.
His smooth muscular chest, his bronze skin and perfect white teeth, his perfect flowy hair - what a beauty. And he decided to become a shirtless wrestler?!? What did I do to earn this marvelous blessing??

In last year's Iron Claw movie, Lance was portrayed (very briefly) by one of my other pro wrestling man-crushes: MJF. Later today I will post some images of MJF's remarkable portrayal.

So I saw some AEW/ROH fans getting confused about how Kevin Von Erich's sons are not using Rush's "Tom Sawyer" as their entrance music but they actually are using their dad's solo music as he used Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold" for his solo matches. Each of the Von Erich brothers had different solo music expect Kerry as he still used "Tom Sawyer" (though his first was "Call Me" by Blondie) but they all used that one when they wrestled as a tag team. You can hear their music in some YT videos that fans have uploaded, as on Peacock they aren't allowed to since they didn't have the copyright approval back then. David's solo music was first "Fire and Ice" by Pat Benatar then "La Grange" by ZZ Top, Mike's was "Warriors" by Thin Lizzy, and even the fake "cousin" Lance used "Hurts so Good" by John Mellencamp and "Tough Enough" by the Fabolous Thunderbirds. Couldn't find Chris' music though but he didn't wrestle that much. Really great choices though not just them but the other WCCW wrestlers, similar to how the WWE wrestlers used actual songs back in the early 80s too before getting custom made ones by the 90s. Though I'm happy now it's much easier for wrestlers to use whatever music they want now too again as it makes it even more fun as a fan.

MJF has been off TV as he’s filming the Von Erich movie confirmed, but he’s playing Lance Von Erich, the fake Von Erich? Odd choice, I would have had him been Gino.

It's a shame there aren't a lot of videos of Lance Von Erich during the 1990's with long hair.
I've actually thought of making some gifs of him during the 1980's.

Wrestling With Sin: 450
Wrestling With Sin: 450 featuring Lance Von Erich, Buddy Landel and much more...
Brian Damage This is the 450th installment of the ‘Wrestling with Sin‘ series. A group of stories that delves into the darker, underbelly of pro wrestling. Many of the stories involve such subjects as sex, drugs, greed and in some cases even murder! As with every single story in the Sin series, I do not condone or condemn the alleged participants. We simply retell their stories by researching…

A List of things that happened at Collision and ROH taping from this weekend.
First of all getting to be in the environment that has been created at the e-sports from this residency is phenomenal and I hope that it will happen again in the future.
Getting seats four rows back from the ring and we were still so close (that will change I'll explain) and getting to go with both my dad and cousin was so much fun
FINALLY getting to see Darby wrestle in person was amazing
The bull rope match was fucking brutal and the TV broadcast did not do it justice the crowd was so fucking over for Rosa it was awesome
So right in front of us about 30 minutes into the show there was a row of 8 seats that were empty right at the barricade and no one had shown up. So my cousin may have taken initiative and got up to the seats and by the Rush and Vance match we were all up front and no one said anything
My cousin saying to Turbo of the Outrunners that "he was like Hogan without the racism and an actual 10 incher" which Turbo totally popped for
Rush and Vance match was so much fun. Getting on tv for most of that match and me cackling like a psychopath made it loud and clear on the broadcast
Me screaming like a lunatic during swerves's match and afterward the cameraman came over to film me (thank God that didn't make the broadcast)
Swerve v Ishii was so fucking awesome
Heart eyes at Stat
Me handing my dad $10 when Christian walked out in the turtleneck ref sweater
Getting to see HoB so close was so fucking awesome
Juice being the chaos junkie that he is
Shayna talking shit to my cousin and then blowing him a kiss after beating up BBG and HOB
Flipping off the patriarchy
RoH Taping
Having beef with the premier athletes
Abadon, my beloved
Getting to see Sammy wrestle was also a lot of fun
Mina, my beloved
ROCKY
Toa mean mugging me when I did the claw for the von erichs
My cousin cheered on Cage of Agony only to accidentally drop his phone over the barricade and Cage to look at him and call him an idiot even though he wanted Cage to win
My cousin continues his years long beef with Matt Taven and Taven shouting at him "you don't have a wiener"
The Von Erichs and Sammy came over to sign my little autograph book, Sammy was so nice and it was so nice to see the Von Erichs again since I met them last year
This was the next day continuing ROH tapings
Tony coming out to say that someone wanted to say hi to the kids and me fully believing that it was gonna be Mortos until Hologram came out
I love Lance Archer. The guy in front of us had a bunch of signs and one of them saying "The murderhawk just needs a hug" and Lance coming over like he was going to give a hug only to rip up the sign
Watching Ari get beat up by Ishii made my day
Cheering so loud for Rocky Romero and him noticing me and giving me a wink (can confirm I am dead)
8 man tag match between Sammy, Dustin, and the Von Erichs v Dark Order and Undisputed Kingdom, once again keeping up the beef and telling the dark order they can do so much better than undisputed kingdom
When Harley Cameron came out and I told my dad to "get his girl"
Queen Aminata is one of the best female wrestlers right now I genuinely love her so much she is so cool
The Righteous reminding me in person that Vincent looks almost exactly like a friend of mine but with dreads
Taya v Mina was fun
Watching the Premiere Athletes at least 8 times over the course of 48 hours and continuing to make sure that we have beef
Also after the match my cousin and I were booing Tony Neese and he tried to get security to kick us out and my cousin blew Tony a kiss
ATHENA
Getting to see Briscoe wrestle this close was so cool and Mortos is so fucking over I love it.
And that concludes my weekend I will make another post like this next week cause I am going back to collision for the final show. This was the most fun I have had all year and something that I really hope AEW does again in the future

What's in a name? The five Von Erich brothers were famous as wrestlers, as was their father, Fritz (real name: Jack Adkisson), who led the entire family to wrestling careers.
Capitalizing on the name, Lance Von Erich was introduced to fans and spectators as a "cousin" of the brothers. The blond haired wrestler shown above with Mike Von Erich (yellow briefs) was no relation whatsoever to the family. But then, who said professional wrestling wasn't without storylines fabricated for fans. So, who was Lance? Dallas born, William Kevin "Ricky" Vaughn.

Speaking of Lance von Erich, here is one of my favorite scenes from the "Iron Claw" movie. We see Kevin (played by Zac Efron) watching from the corner as his "cousin" Lance (played by pro wrestler MJF) is taking care of business in a Tag Team match.
Wow, everyone marveled over Zac Efron's body -- the muscle mass he gained to portray Kevin -- but then MJF gets in the scene looking even more jacked up and powerful! And MJF be like: No big deal, I always stay this swole.
Tumblr media
And MJF is looking FINE in those snug red briefs! They keep the camera zoomed in on Zac, to show him looking all dejected and lonesome now that most of his brothers are either dead or injured. But my man MJF keeps popping into that tight zoom, giving us some wonderful views of his spandexed ass in the snug red speedo. I hope he kept those hot trunks as a souvenir from the film so he can wrestle in them all the time now.
Tumblr media
And that was it. That was the entire extent of MJF's role in the movie: from 1:23:32 until 1:24:07 = 35 seconds. It's his only scene in the whole film. And the camera actually stays fixed on Zac Efron the entire time, with MJF's ass unfortunately only getting maybe 15 seconds of actual screen time.
Can we get a sequel to the Iron Claw: "The Rise and Fall of Cousin Lance" as portrayed by MJF? (And with a lot more wrestling scenes in it, please.)

Don't know how I didn't know this till today but A24 and "The Iron Claw" director Sean Durkin made a Zine that features so much about the real family and how they made the movie but also they have posters in each one of Zac, Harris, and Jeremy done in the style of posters that Kevin, David, and Kerry actually did for WCCW!!! 😀 They look so cool and similar to the ones my Dad saved as he's got a whole bunch of those old wrestling magazines he saved from back then. Sharing a few Tweets of the posters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also wanted to let those who watched the movie there's also an episode of "Dark Side of the Ring" that was all about the Von Erich's and it was first time Kevin opened up about it. I finally was able to watch and it went into so much detail and things that were left out or slightly changed in the movie. Also I've seen Kevin's sons Marshall and Ross wrestling lately on AEW/ROH but in this doc they were getting their start and realized how much his sons resemble his brothers, especially Marshall with David and Ross with Kerry (more so Ross clean shaven as he's got a beard lately). Which again I'm hoping AEW signs them soon and since they'll be back in Texas next month.
Also curious if Zac, Harris, Jeremy, and Stanley are going to show up on AEW too instead of WWE as I saw A24 signed a new deal with WBD so their movies will go to Max/HBO for streaming/TV and they own the networks AEW airs on and MJF played Lance (as did a few other AEW wrestlers as others in a few scenes too). So if they show up on a wrestling show it'd be there especially if they sign Marshall and Ross. 😏
